#relatedly: why is shonen so good about this? And better than other genres/demographics at it?

The number one thing I need from Natsume's Book of Friends is for Natsume to get to just completely break down sobbing. A single artful tear will not do. Nay, this boy desperatly needs a cathartic cry. A full breakdown. A messy ugly loud snotty weeping sob while he accidentally straggles the life out of Sensei stuffed animal style. There can be nothing pretty or demure about it just pure ugly relieving catharsis. Please. He's so full of trauma and sadness he needs this which means I need this

Let 👏 this 👏 boy 👏 sob 👏 Let him cling to someone he loves- Sensei or Aunt Toko or Tanuma or or or- while he shakes from weeping so hard. Let him cry so hard that he's hoarse and can barely talk after. Let him express all of the ugly emotions he's bottled up for so long. Let him expel his lifetime of trauma he's already accumulated. Let him emotionally break so he can start putting the pieces back together.
