(Sven the Reindeer acts out a dramatic and fairly accurate portrayal of wolves attacking Olaf and a fruitcake. Kristoff doesn’t get it, thinks the re-enactment means that the reindeer wants more carrots in his stew for some reason. Reindeer gets frustrated.

I may have to agree with Kristoff that reindeer are better than people, especially after my wonderful experience this past fall with the @cairngormreindeer in Scotland! These creatures are magnificent, clever, & so fluffy. And yes, the fuzz on their antlers is super soft! (📸 @catherine) ❄️ ❄️ Seeing #Frozen2 got me thinking about this herd since Sven is a reindeer & they’re shown as a regular part of life for some of the characters, which makes sense since the queendom of Arendelle is inspired by Norway, a Scandinavian country. While Scotland is not part of Scandinavia, this herd was introduced to Scotland by a Swedish Sami man named Mikel Utsi. The reindeer are an integral part of Sami life and understandably take a prominent role in their folklore. In particular, a white reindeer (slide 2) is particularly special as it is seen as something of a celestial quadruped & bringer of good fortune if you can catch it. I couldn’t catch this one. Just cold......

So I have an absolute LOVE of Frozen. I totally relate to Elsa. (My own childhood was full of "Conceal, don't feel" and such.) I realize that a lot of people are over it and that is fine.It's just that some very close "friends"were making fun of the movie in a way that made me really uncomfortable. They tore the movie apart and then started on the people stupid enough to like it. Awkward, especially when I am standing there in a t-shirt that has Elsa on an ice version of the Iron Throne  from GoT that says "Winter Is Coming". For a minute it felt like Middle School all over again; feeling kind of ashamed of unabashedly loving something cause the cool kids said it was stupid. It was at this moment that I had 3 realizations:

1- This isn't middle school. I drove there and I could drive off.

2- I need better friends

3-I love the movie and it doesn't matter what they think. Fuck it.

So I got in my car after saying my goodbyes. I turned up the stereo until "Let It Go" was rattling the house windows. THEN I backed down the driveway.           It's the little things that make a day awesome......
