The strawhats sail through a weird place on the grand line and zoro's teleported to the past

The catch? He doesn't go to shimotsuki village, but to germa instead

Zoro doesn't know a lot about the place or about its ruler, but the amount of soldiers he sees in the distance, the absolute grayness of his surroundings and the little bits of information sanji told him after wci are more than enough hints to help him guess where he is

Unaware of the change in time, though, figuring he was only transported to a different place in the world, he's ready to kick judge's ass and sanji's brothers' too if they're around, so he starts stomping around the castle grounds, looking for a door that can take him inside

Not surprisingly, the soldiers spot him within a few minutes and zoro, still putting on a fight, is taken into judge's presence (in the end he got what he wanted, to find judge, so he counts it as a win)

Inside the main room of the castle, judge eyes him up and down, staying a bit longer on the three swords strapped to his hips, and decides he'll spare his life if he's a fighter good enough to train his kids

Zoro raises an eyebrow, confused by what he means by that. Surely genetically modified adults don't need any training from him, but hey, he's not gonna say no the chance of kicking their asses being so easily handed to him on a silver platter

What isn't his surprise, though, when five kids enter the room

It doesn't take a genius to realize he somehow ended up in the past and he adapts to his new routine with some hiccups along the way

He keeps getting lost in the kingdom (and puts his money on it being all the snails' fault, it's obvious they keep moving and changing the layout of the place) and arriving late to the training sessions, but judge seems satisfied enough with his work and doesn't do much else other than to scowl at him

It doesn't take long for zoro to understand the dynamics between the siblings and he can't help but pay extra attention to sanji, making sure he doesn't push himself too hard to match the others while also making sure his brothers don't pick up on him

It might seem childish on his part, but he also gets into arguments with the boys more often than he'd like to admit

With sanji because he's always arguing he can endure more training or because the damn kid is scolding him for getting lost again (zoro can't believe this brat is as annoying as his older version!)

With the others because they've somehow moved on from sanji and decied to pick on him instead

They mock him for arriving late, call him weak for needing to use three swords

It's annoying and he wants to kick them all in the head, but hey, if sanji's being left alone he counts it as a small victory

Reiju's the easiest one to deal with, she listens to him and is strong too. Zoro also notices she seems amused at the change of behavior from ichiji, niji and yonji, and seems happy that sanji's having a good time for a change

Zoro accidentally meets sora once, having somehow wandered into the medical wing of the castle, and she profusely thanks him for looking after her children. She's talked to reiju and sanji recently and they seemed to have been on high spirits

She also thanks him for making some progress with ichiji, niji and yonji, something she herself has failed to do. Zoro doesn't know what to say to all of that and just bashfully scratches at the back of his neck, "I'll keep doing my best" he murmurs

He turns to leave the room and closes the door to the sight of sora smiling (a smile that reminds him of older sanji) and waving at him. He nods at her and feels like a promise's just been made between them

The training sessions continue for a few more weeks, the kids, specially the quadruplets, becoming more and mora attached to him, but before zoro knows it, he's teleported back to his present time

Sanji looks at him differently every time they cross paths and zoro can see it in his eyes it's because he remembers him from his past

Their relationship becomes awkward for a few days, like sanji's taking time to process what's happening, before it takes a turn for the better

They barely need to talk, there's an underlying understanding between them, a deep trust that's been built long ago, and they become closer than ever

They still bicker and push each other's buttons, but they can now spend peaceful moments together talking about anything and everything, reminiscing about the past, dreaming about the future

They dock at an island a few days later and zoro freezes when he spots one of germa's ships

Sanji's taken aback too, though he isn't as stiff as zoro is, he seems more at ease, like he's wrapping his head on germa being actually there

They have no time to discuss what they should do as three people land on the deck in front of them

Ichiji, niji and yonji are clearly surprised to see zoro, just as the swordsman is to see them, but they also look incredibly happy, or as happy as they can considering the whole lack of emotions thing

Zoro looks at sanji, confusion clear on his features, and sanji tilts his head to the side

"Has seaweed finally gotten to your brain, marimo? After the fight in onigashima I told you I talked to my brothers in wci about how I ended up on the same crew as our childhood instructor. I even told you I thought it was weird you didn't seem to have aged when we met in the east blue. They suggested judge, that fucking bastard, must've injected something in you all those years ago"

Zoro looks at him like he's grown another head, eye widening as the new memories trickle into his brain

In the meantime sanji continues, bashful, "Maybe I left out the part where they said they wanted to meet you again...? A-and it was because I knew you'd refuse to do it- but they sounded as eager as they could sound so I told them I'd get in contact after we left wano to tell them what island we were going to next..."

Zoro blinks slowly and tunes out the discussion that just started between the brothers, something about ichiji, niji and yonji arguing they weren't all that eager and sanji snorting, claiming that "Yeah, sure you're not eager, you're obsessed!"

What he focus on, though, is on the fact sanji had, and is having, a normal interaction with his brothers, which is a complete 180 from what he previously knew about their relationship

A warm feeling spreads in his chest and sora's smiling face comes to his mind, reminding him of their silent promise, now fulfilled

But he doesn't reminisce for long, ichiji, niji, sanji and yonji soon crowding him, demanding his attention and that he fights them

Zoro smirks and pulls out his swords, getting into a fighting stance

Guess he'll have to do his best not to end up disappoint sora, then, though honestly, he doesn't think he'll have any issues with that

Fire Meets Fate [Chapter Two] First Impressions [Vinsmoke Ichiji]

“What’s he like? My soon-to-be husband?”

Reiju hummed. She combed her slender fingers through Eris’s hair as the said woman stared at her melancholy expression in her vanity mirror.

“He’s my little brother; my answer doesn’t matter,” she replied honestly – Eris assumed she’d say this; it was inconsiderate of her to ask. “Those sorts of judgments are best left for you to make.”

She was right.

“Pardon me. I realized how biased that was too late,” Eris stated.

Reiju laughed softly. “Not at all. He is a rotten brat; marriage to him won’t be easy. I didn’t want to bum you out is all.”

“It’s far too late for that,” Eris admitted with a sigh.

She saw Reiju narrow her eyes in pity, but didn’t comment on it. Eris assumed the princess lacked sympathy; she spoke to her with a level of maturity that always seemed impersonal, so it was a breath of fresh air to witness something other than a fake smile on her face. Even so, her answer did not ease Eris.

“Are you having second thought?” Reiju asked.

Eris snorted. “No, and even if I were, it’s not like I can walk away.”

“Not unless you want my father to go to war with your country,” she stated with a grin.

Her tone was good-humored but Eris knew that it was the truth. Gloriosa purposed a ceasefire with the Germa Kingdom, but that did not mean that at any time if the marriage went south Judge couldn’t end the agreement. The women of Amazon Lily were trained warriors since birth, but Eris feared how they would fare against an army of enhanced soldiers.

She sighed.

“How do I look?”

Reiju grinned.

“It’s a shame you weren’t given to me,” she remarked.

Eris felt her face heat up. It was indeed a shame.

She stood up and gathered her shoes, assuring Reiju that she was ready, despite the obvious lie, and followed the princess from the tower. Eris had ventured as far as the washroom, but she had never seen the outside past her window. Once they were in the open air, a warm sea breeze tugged playfully at her dress, making her smile. She missed being free, trekking through the jungle outside her village. It was nothing more than a fond memory now, unfortunately.

Eris averted her eyes and stared at Reiju as the said woman led her to a large castle to which her tower bordered. The layout was unnatural to her; fake even. It had five tall turrets; curving conical spires, which complemented the outwardly-rounded walls of the structure. As they entered, Eris was not impressed; the interior was impersonal. The walls were made of stone and hardly a picture could be seen. What was the Vinsmoke family like?

From the foyer, Reiju led Eris into the dining hall. The said woman hummed in thought as she took a brief look around. As expected, it was as depersonalized as the rest of the main tower. Strange. And not to mention, the entire room was vacant; not even the head chef or servers were present.

Reiju shook her head.

“Have a seat. I’ll check on my brothers,” she ordered.

Eris did so and watched her leave the room. She waited for a minute or two in boredom, before the door opened. Instead of Reiju coming in, as she expected, a trio of gorgeous men walked through the entrance. Eris was in awe. Were these Reiju’s brothers? One of them was her fiancé. But which one?

The green-haired prince noticed Eris first and puckered a brow.

“Who is the babe?”

His eyes poured over her hungrily.

“And why is she sitting at the table like she’s one of us?” The brother with the blue hair asked.

“Because Niji, Eris is soon to be wed to Ichiji,” Reiju answered back, coming into the room behind them. “And father won’t be joining us, so behave. It’s not cute when the lot of you act like brats.” She sat next to Eris at the table.

The green-haired prince glared at her, as Niji hummed.

“So this is her,” he said with a grin. “She’s easy on the eyes.”

The redhead snorted.

“Lucky me.”

So, he’s the one.

It was ironic to her that their hair was the same color; mere coincidence Eris imagined. She was supposed to marry the third prince after all.

“I mean if you don’t want her, I’ll take her off your hands,” the one with the green hair suggested. He eagerly licked his lips making Eris shiver.

Ichiji sat at the table across from Eris and hummed.

“Have at her, but remember, brother, marriage is a bitch. It comes with a high price.”

“No more one-night stands, Yonji,” Niji teased, following suit.

Yonji groaned and sat beside him.

“Way to suck the fun out of it.”

Eris was repulsed. Why did she get stuck with such a horrible arrangement? Thank the heavens she found her soon-to-be husband a prick because loving him was the last thing she wanted to do.

To her relief, a group of maids came out with trays of food and served them. Eris thanked the maid who poured her a mimosa and frowned when Yonji mocked her.

“You are soon to be a princess, so you need to act like one,” Ichiji mentioned.

“Having manners is completely different,” Eris argued back.

Reiju laughed.

“She’s right, little brother.”

He curled up his nose.

“If she’s to be my wife, then she will act like a princess.”

“That may be asking too much of her, brother. She’s from an island of warriors. The closest to royalty she’s ever seen is that hag empress,” Niji remarked.

Eris glared at him, clutching her fork. She felt a light tap on her knee and glanced at Reiju as the said woman shook her head.

“Pay him no mind,” she mentioned.

Empress Gloriosa may not have been her favorite person in the world at the moment, but Eris didn’t take kindly to Niji poking fun at her. She was an empress; Eris still had respect for her. The said woman took her in when her mother died, and trained her how to use a bow and Haki. She owed Gloriosa her life. It’s why she went along with the marriage even though she was so young at the time. It was a mistake.

“I heard the women of Amazon Lily are beautiful,” Yonji brought up. “Is there any truth to that?”

Eris nodded.

“In terms of looks, yes. But true beauty on my island is characterized by how strong a warrior is.”

“Are you considered strong?” Niji asked.

Eris hummed.

“Who’s to say.”

She never got the chance to fight the village warriors; Eris was torn away from her island before then.

“Then why didn’t the hag send someone else?” Niji asked.

“Because the Empress had no kids and I was an orphan,” Eris answered back.

She picked at her food. Sooner or later, she assumed that she would have to tell her fiancé more about her past; it was the sole purpose of this meeting, but Eris didn’t expect to have to tell his siblings too.

“Awe, pour baby,” the blue hair prince snorted.

He and Yonji laughed; her fiancé cracked a grin, but she ignored them and ate her breakfast. Their mockery meant nothing to her.

“Perhaps Niji will agree to spar with Eris tomorrow,” Reiju mention. She took a drink of her mimosa, then sat the glass down. “I mean, he seems to have an issue with her. It’s the least he can do for harassing her.”

Eris gave her a surprised look. Was she serious? There was no way she could take him on.

Niji tsked.

“I don’t have any reason to spar with her. Besides, it wouldn’t be much of a workout.”

Ichiji grinned.

“Then you shouldn’t have an issue beating her.”

The said prince hummed, standing up.

“Whatever,” he grunted, storming out of the room.

Eris clutched her fork in annoyance. Lucky her. She had no interest in fighting any of them, but unfortunately, the final say-so wasn’t up to her. Her aim was rusty; she was sure her hand-to-hand combat skills were too. There was no point dwelling on it much; the thought was spoiling her apatite.

After breakfast, Reiju offered to escort Eris back to her room. She declined, claiming to be able to do it on her own. Even if she were to attempt an escape, Eris doubted she’d be able to escape the Germa Kingdom unharmed. She wished the princess a good afternoon and fled back towards the tower. A sound caught her keen ears and she turned to see the red-haired prince at her heels. Eris stopped to wait for him and puckered her brow.

“What do I owe the pleasure?” She asked with sarcasm.

Ichiji grinned.

“A word of advice, my brother isn’t going to play fair or pull his punches.”

“Why are you telling me this?” Eris asked.

The said prince hummed.

“Perhaps I want a good show out of it. I suggest you don’t hold back either,” he answered back.

How generous of him. Eris scoffed and turned her back on him, but just as quickly, Ichiji turned her around by the arm to face him again.

“Is there something else?” She asked in annoyance.

“You’re about to be a princess, so don’t forget how to act,” Ichiji mentioned.

Yeah, you mentioned that before, Eris said to no one but herself.

She shuttered as his finger caressed her arm. What was he doing? Eris pulled away and scowled at him as he grinned. She excused herself and returned to her room, cursing him every step. Ichiji was a prick; an ill-mannered brat to who Eris knew she’d hate being married to. Dropping onto her bed, she sighed.

“It was horrid, Tanis.”

A large mottled snake slithered down from the bedposts and leaned its head against her. Eris stroked her.

“He’s gorgeous, I admit, but he’s never going to be a good husband.”

She shut her eyes and grinned.

“At least I won’t be doomed to die.”

One Piece Chapter 882 Review

One Piece is back from the break and this time we finally get the battle between Katakuri and Luffy started. Well, that is until it decides to sets up more events outside of the battle by the second half. That said it doesn’t take away the overall enjoyment of the chapter as it continues to compel in more ways than one. The arc may have gone long, but it maintains the development of interest well.

The battle is so far entertaining with Katakuri being a real badass as well as surprisingly being a nice big brother. That is rather rare to see the combination for a villain. His mochi use is staggering, including folding the platform like play-doh. I seriously wonder how Luffy supposed to defeat him with his great offensive maneuver. What makes it even more daring is Katakuri can use awakened devil fruit, which allows him to use his mochi power on the environment. It’s getting really interesting to see awakened mode in action. It does open up for more creativity with their power.

Bruleé is aggravating but fortunately (ironically), she is a villain and made to be that obnoxious. Luffy pretty much speaks for us when we get highly annoyed by her rubbish crap. That said it is rather amusing to know Katakuri and his glorious attributes. He was like a gifted child that he doesn’t sleep on his back, rather sits up and sleep like a champ. Seriously, he is too good for this family.

I am a bit skeptical if all she blabbed about it is an indication that Katakuri will lose in possibly farfetched way. If he has to go down, he has to go out like a champ for a villain. I would laugh if his weakness is like a turtle; push him down on his back and he will cry for mercy. On the other hand, I think it would stir some flames from the fandom. Regardless, even though Bruleé went on and on, he still protected her like family sticking together. Aw…

Although the battle was halted in the next half of the chapter, it does have some interesting developments to exploit. First in which is Big Mom isn’t stopping at all and instead, head over to Nuts Island, even though Pudding and others are at Cacao Island. I guess her rampage will do much more harm than I initial thought. It could lead to some interesting aftermath for her since she could ultimately ruin it more than Luffy. Ah nuts…

Pekoms may have done some foolish things, but I still respect him for loving his kind greatly. It still plays off that Pedro is dead, which leads them to react with sadness and respect. Tamago’s reflection from Pedro’s words about Straw Hat Pirates is intriguing because he now feels the effect. He is actually drawn to his words and sees the amount of damage that they have caused. They can’t hide the fact that they underestimated them and they paid the price. Mont D’or was being a hard ass, but like they say, stubborn fool is hard to be convinced.

Despite the entertaining battle ensued, the setup is compelling. Bege and his crew are going after Chiffon in a convenient way since they are being followed, so why not get your wife back on the way home. This guy continues to impress me. I still remember how I detested him in the last arc, but this arc changes my mind significantly. It must be Oda’s magic.

The other major update is Germa 66 is not out of sight. The chapter was trying to fool the audience that Germa was taking out, even though I didn’t buy that. What I didn’t expect is the annihilation of the Big Mom’s henchmen by Germa 66.

It’s odd because I didn’t like them for their past actions and I still don’t; but I can’t deny the last pages of them standing over piles of Big Mom’s henchmen look pretty damn badass. Payback is, well you get the picture. I am pretty hyped to see how this setup will lead to since not only Bege is coming to Cacao Island but so will eventually Germa 66. I wonder how this will play with Sanji now. Hell, I wonder if these guys can change my mind about them. Reiju is fine, so the other two must impress me.

The art is pretty solid with the action. I like the battle so far with its layout and creative use of their ability. Katakuri continues to be the shining point of the battle as Luffy continues to struggle. His badass mark, including his anticipation for Gear 4, has no limit. The last double page makes the damn Germa 66 look badass, which is great since they needed this moment after almost being assassinated like no big deal. Now they feel like they will be the one taking the throne.

It’s a compelling with a fun action and intriguing setup that would eventually lead to some of the exciting plot points yet. I guess the downside is the ETA for Reverie to occur this year may have to be delayed, let alone for Kano Country. I don’t mind so much, so long it continues to be entertaining and from what I see with its buildup, it will be worth it.
