ritsu silly moments compilation
- getting up in the middle of the night to try to bend water because maybe, just maybe, this time he’ll randomly unlock his psychic powers
- having a mental breakdown in the middle of crossing the street and having a bunch of flashbacks while unlocking his joker arc but all the flashbacks are just people telling him how cool and smart he is
- getting a card with an address from a random stranger who knows his (brother’s) full name and address somehow telling him he’ll help him unlock his psychic powers, showing up to that location, it being normal ass apartment buildings, and instead of being like “oh im about to be kidnapped i need to get the fuck out of here” hes just like “wtf this isnt a lab this is an apartment complex you lied to me >:(”
- getting so stressed out about helping frame some kid for licking girls recorders that he actually unlocks his psychic powers
- meeting an evil spirit who claims he can help him control his psychic powers if he lets him posses him and going “sure, why not, seems legit” when the spirit is literally planning to take his body and not give it back
- threatening to fold a guys car in half for no fucking reason
- just going around beating the shit out of random middle school delinquents to. idk. grind for exp?
- meeting a kid with a giant wig and thinking that his brain is huge
- being confronted by his older brother and blasting him backwards with psychic powers then going “damn i missed :/” like what were you trying to do??? kill him???????
- being like “i HATE you nii-san >:( you mean NOTHING to me >:(” until he watches mob get the shit beat out of him then going “wait no i didnt mean it :(”
- seeing some guy picking on his older brother and trying to strangle him TO DEATH???
- some kid he met once while he was kidnapped by terrorists (who beat him into unconsciousness then sent an old man to the core of the earth) showing up at his door and trying to convince his parents they just won a free spa trip and just going with it for the bit i guess
- being so annoyed with reigen that he just lets an evil spirit bite him to get out of being dragged to future exorcism jobs
- standing on top of a roof surveying the ruined city created by his brothers emotional meltdown and saying “this is overkill”

ROUND 1, MATCH 18
NO MAGIC, POWERS, OR WEAPONS
Tumblr media
Reigen Arataka:
“he has so many silly anime special moves like . throwing salt”
“Well, he doesn't break the super strength rule, so he'll at least be allowed into the fist fight! That's something! As for why he'll win, he um. Well I'm not sure honestly, but I'm sure he'll do it somehow. Maybe he'll find a way to sneak some table salt into the match so that he can perform his special technique, the Banishing Salt Punch. Though, if he doesn't cheat, he'll be left with a plain ol punch. The special technique didn't so much damage, but that was on a ghost, and I'm not sure if there will be any ghosts here, and his punch has proved somewhat effective in the series. Maybe he'll somehow get the participants of this poll in a con or something. Maybe the charm that got him the title of the #2 Tumblr Sexyman and made him sweep so many polls will be enough for him to win. Maybe his patheticness will loop around and make him win somehow. He has options”
“Reigen is an "exorcist" who pretends to have psychic powers, but mostly gets his psychic employee(s) to do the exorcisms for him. His primary techniques include throwing salt at his problems, running away, and punching. My favorite technique of his is Self Defense Rush which is where he punches a terrifying psychic but yells "SELF DEFENSE!" in hopes of preventing legal trouble.”
“Remember that one time he dropkicked a psychic? that was fun”
“He’s such a loser he’d lose at anything”
Vi:
“YES she has giant gauntlets powered by hextech magic but she can easily take those off and fight bare handed. If ANYONE is gonna have a fist fight, you BET Vi is gonna be there. Punching is her whole THING.”
“She's cool. Omg poll runner do you understand how cool and how gay she is? Do you?? Also she's legit a really good fighter who doesn't have super powers, so that's a plus.”
“She rules & kicks ass, enough said”
“Badass fighter, especially with her fists. While she does use a weapon, its just Bigger Fists. Even without the weapon she can hold her own against people on suped up drugs or with powered up robot arms. Tendency to be poor at Blocking but just shows she can take even big hits and still get back up.”

Skibidi toilet x reader x part 2 The enddnjsjnjkdjs
I CAN SAY ALL OF THE SLURS IN THIS DONT CANCLE ME PLEASE !!!!!!!!!
“Your WHAT??” reigen exclaims. “Yeah sorry... I’m just not to fond of gay people...” They both look at me in disbelief. Almost like they have seen a ghost. Then we hear Skibidi toilet break down the door. “I AGREE!!! GAY PEOPLE SHOULD BURN IN HELL” Skibidi toilet exclaims. Reigen and Sans sob while holding each other tight as we continue to yell and harass them. “I HATE FAGGOTS!!” skibidi says. “Maybe that's a bit too far... you know that's a bad word, right?” I say.
“YEAH!!! WE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG!!!” Sans finally stands up for himself. “WHO CARES IF HE LIKES MEN?” “I DO!!!” skibidi toilet says. They both look at skibidi toilet. “Says the one who likes little girls!!” Reigen exclaims to Skibidi. “I... DON’T... LIKE... UNDERAGED GIRLS!!!” “KILL YOURSELF!!!” Sans tells skibidi. The room goes silent. It's unbelievably awkward. “I-I-I...” Skibidi starts to cry. “H-Hey skibidi its okay!! Who cares what you did in the past... your fine now... right?” I start to comfort Skibidi. “Oh honey... I saw him touch a little girl the other day.” Sans says smugly. Skibidi sobs louder. “N-NO!!! I DIDN’T!!!”
“Come on sans let's get out of here.” Reigen says as he starts to walk towards the door with sans. “WHERE ARE YOU GOING!!!! YOU GUYS CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT ME!!! YOU WOULD BE HOMELESS!!!” Skibidi cries out to them. “Well, you're wrong skibidi.. I am loaded. From all of my con-manness" Reigen says to Skibidi extra smugly. “NO WAIT!!! IM NOT A PEDOPHILE!!”
Suddenly Shane Dawson breaks down the door. “DID SOMEONE SAY.... PEDOPHILE?????” Shane Dawson exclaims. “SHANE DAWSON!!!!!!” We all say in unison. “Yep!! It's me. Shane Dawson. I heard there was a guy who touches little girls over here... You do know that I’m the only one in this town that can do that...” “I DONT TOUCH. LITTLE GIRLS...” Skibidi exclaims. “Thats what they all say” Shane says to Skibidi. “Come on reigen lets get out of here...” Sans says.
Both Sans and Reigen leave the place leaving me, skibidi, and Shane Dawson alone. “Well, what do you say Skibidi? Wanna team up?” Shane puts his hand out for skibidi to shake. “I....” Skibidi thinks for a second. “I couldn’t....” “Oh yes you could!!! Be a part of my special club. We give out free pictures of my cat.” “What... why would I need a picture of your cat...” Skibidi starts to slowly back away from Shane Dawson. “Because!! My cat is a bit freaky... Just look at its face...” Shane begins to get lost in the thought of his cat. It's kind of weird to look at.
“Welll I better join Reigen and Sans heh...” I say while I head towards the door. “NO WAIT!! DONT JOIN THEM!!! THEY KISS MEN!!!! PLEASE!! NOOO!!!! Y/N!!!! DONT LEAVE ME!!!” I quickly run out the door and slam it behind me. I sit outside the house for a bit to figure out what to do next. Then I suddenly feel the house start to shake and crack. I look behind me to see a gigantic Skibidi toilet absolutely crushing the house. “S-Skibidi-kun???” “DONT LEAVE ME YOU.... YOU... BAKA!!” Skibidi yells as he goes alpha mode. “SKIBIDI KUN!!”
I then see Reigen and Sans and another weird looking guy running towards me. “WHAT HAPPEND!!” Reigen exclaims. “Who the FUCK is this stupid little autistic boy you have with you Reigen.” I say. “Oh, it's my son!!! He name is Mob. He’s a bit stupid.” “Master, I hope you FUCKING BURN ALIVE YOU FUCKING FAGGOT.” Mob says to Reigen. “Woah there mob who taught you such strong words.” “That doesn’t matter!!! Skibidi crushed your house!!!!” “OH YEAH HE DID!!” Reigen exclaims as he looks at the gigantic Skibidi toilet crushing the house.
“Well shit what do we do now.” Sans says unamused. “Uhmm... Mob!! Can’t you Ex-or-size him.” Reigen begins to shake like a little mouse. “Master, are you FUCKING RETARD this GIANT ASS TOILET is not a FUCKING SPIRT.” “nooooooo.... are you sure.......” “I think he’s sure about that Reigen... If you don’t listen to your kid, you're not getting backshots...” Sans looks deep into Reigen’s blue orbs. “OH!!!! Well... I guess he’s not a spirit hehe....” Reigen says flustered.
“Well, when I left is when Shane Dawson appeared... do you think he has anything to do with this??” I say to the others. “Hmmm do you think Shane Dawson possessed Skibidi???” Reigen says mysteriously. “Well, that could be the case since I heard about an evil spirit that steals peoples cats and...” Mob gets quieter, “Freaks them...” “WOAH MOB!!!! DON’T USE SUCH FOWL LAUNGUE!!” “YOU ARE RETARDED.” Mob yells to Reigen. Sans giggles at the little autistic boy.
“Well are you guys going to do something about it or...???” I say to them. “Yeah, let me Ex-or-size him real quick gang.” Mob says as he faces Skibidi toilet. “So this is the bitch you have been living with for 5 years??? No wonder your like this 💀💀💀💀💀” “JUST GET IT OVER WITH MOB!!” Reigen exclaims and tries to hold back tears. “I-I swear my son isn’t like this please ignore him.” “Yeah sure” Sans says smugly. Then mob Ex-or-sizes Shane Dawson out of skibidi toilet somehow and he goes back to normal.
“S-Skibidi-kun!!!! I missed you so much my pookie bear!! Even if you did touch little girls!!.” I say as I run towards Skibidi gracefully. “I missed you too my alpha... Even if you do freak with those... homosexuals...” We both share a big smooch and then mob reverts the house back to its normal state. “Who is this goofy looking autistic boy.” Skibidi says while looking at mob. “You can not be saying that while you look like a FUCKING TOILET DUDE. Stop with this shit vro....” Mob then walks away sassily. “Jesus dude... I didn’t know you guys were like this...” Skibidi looks like he's about to cry again. “D-dont cry Skibidi!! You didn’t do anything wrong....” I say to try and cheer him up.
Sans and Reigen then get freaky or something and the screen fades to black and Y/n wakes up from their slumber. “Man... it was all a dream...” Y/n says. “That was a pretty freaky dream. I wonder if toilets are real...”
THE END I AM NOT WRITTING ANY MORE

PLEASE PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE LEGENDS ARCEUS AU I'M SO NORMAL ABOUT IT <- LYING I AM NOT NORMAL
HI WE'LL BOTH BE NORMAL TOGETHER
(uhm warning for injury/blood/whump, parental death, uhhhhhhhhh fire? a lot happens (also idk if the read more thing has been fixed so let's pray. i refuse to smack these long ass paragraphs in front of innocent bystanders (this is so long. im so sorry)))
ok so reigen is the professor of the galaxy expedition team and u may be wondering how he got that job: lying :)! he claims he knows everything abt pokemon and that he's been studying them his whole life when in reality he's not even totally sure how many pkmn types there are. granted, the rest of the team doesn't either, so his ability to bluff himself out of any given situation is massively helped by their cluelessness
he just wants to sleep in a bed with blankets and eat food to survive and lying into the professor position was the quickest way he saw to get there. he'd been wandering in the wilderness for a while since coming to hisui before that and it kinda sucked. bro just wants a house in this crippling economy
mob n ritsu were originally from another village! they don't meet reigen until mob is 9 (ritsu 8). there's no powers in this au but mob's whole shtick is that he takes the,, extreme pacifist route i guess? he thinks pokemon r to be respected and loved and Not Bothered and he's against the use of pokeballs to store them and commanding them to battle each other, etc. essentially if he were in a modern era he'd think the way present-time people treat pkmn is, for the most part, cruel
anyway their hometown gets attacked by pkmn and the village is destroyed. their parents die protecting them, so 9-year-old mob was left to fend for himself n his little brother alone. they travel together kinda aimlessly for 7ish months until they get remarkably (unknowingly) close to jubilife village and come across that giant fuckin rapidash before the bridge
it's their first alpha pkmn encounter. neither of them have pkmn to defend themselves with (mob's reason: he ain't like that. ritsu's reason: He Is Eight and Scared). mob has always been able to empathize w pkmn a lot and sorta get a read on what they're thinking, so the vibes comin off that rapidash were rancid and he was worried abt it. mob has never been afraid of pkmn, not even the rly big and scary looking ones. so he approaches it with the intention of calming it down, seeing what's hurting it. he makes ritsu stay back in case things go bad
he's kicked in the head. if u forgot how big that rapidash is just google it. the hooves r the size of ur player character's head and ur player character is like 15. mob is 9. the fact that he doesn't die immediately upon impact is a miracle. the fact that he survives longer than 5 seconds after the fact is basically divine intervention
the doodle i made in the top left corner of ritsu screaming is this ^ encounter. he watches it happen, and then watches in horror more as the rapidash panics at ritsu's scream and rolls a flame wheel over his brother's limp form. ritsu manages to dive for him and run, but the kid is thoroughly terrified and traumatized
i'll spare u the horrid bits but long story short ritsu finds a cave to settle in and while he's rly inexperienced with medical treatment he does his best. his best isn't very good in the grand scheme of things but him being 8 is a pretty damn good excuse. he camps out there for Three Whole Days waiting for his brother to wake up or respond to literally anything but it isn't happening and the longer this goes on for the more terrified ritsu gets
mob's taught him how to survive pretty well all things considered, but ritsu is a lot more worried abt mob than taking care of himself and he ends up neglecting his own needs pretty fiercely. he feels too sick w guilt/fear to eat. he tries to stay up as long as he can in case mob stirs. by the end of it he's pretty worse for wear too
reigen finds them while out in the field doing research (wasting time). he sees a little kid half stuck in a bush looking for berries and when reigen tries to get his attention ritsu, who is extremely on edge and sleep deprived and scared, just straight up screams at him. reigen sees his dirty clothes and skinny arms and flushed face (fever. definitely fever) and alarm bells ring in his head to not let the kid go no matter what cuz he Will lose him otherwise
once ritsu gets his bearings and realizes this is a human (first one other than mob he's seen in forever) and not a pokemon coming to kill him he starts crying to him abt his brother and reigen feels his heart drop to his stomach bc if This kid is worried about a brother who is supposedly worse off,,, dear god
ritsu leads reigen to mob. the dressings around his arm where he was burnt are completely incorrect and most definitely horribly infected and ritsu didn't rly do Anything for the head injury other than clean the blood away bc well. again. he's 8. idek if eight year olds know what concussions are
reigen BOOKS it back to jubilife faster than he's ever ran and halfway through he realizes ritsu has passed out in his arms too (kid's probably exhausted beyond belief. reigen has no idea how long they've been like this but he guesses a while) everybody in the village is kinda horrified when the professor comes back with two hurt kids, one of which is on death's door. the medical team there does everything they can
it takes a while for mob to wake up, but thankfully he does in the end. reigen finds out thru ritsu that they've been alone for "a long time" (ritsu doesn't know. doesn't rly remember. reigen asks mob when he wakes up and mob says he stopped counting somewhere after day 140)
even though mob still isn't quite back to his old self and is still generally confused and Slightly Off, the doctors say he'll be okay after a few weeks and reigen has unintentionally gotten very attached to these kids. ritsu had told him their parents died during the attack on their village. they have nowhere else to go, and like hell is Any member of this village gonna be happy with simply throwing them out into the wilderness again. so reigen takes them in
anyway that's how they meet <3 GVEYAI mob is back to his normal self (the occasional Moment of Confusion comes around from the brain injury, but they taper off after a while) and reigen is very much surprised to see that mob, as ritsu has described to him, still very much loves every pkmn he comes across. he gets a bit nervous around rapidashes in particular, but other than that, mob is still just as caring and just as respectful as ritsu described him to be. ritsu is scared of bigger pkmn like any other kid is. mob is an exception, even after that experience.
reigen waits about a year so that they have time to settle and recover (and so that he has time to observe), and then he gives them each a pokemon. this might seem odd, but mob has never expressed any ill will toward Any pkmn, and ritsu still smiles at the smaller ones
he gives them a choice between the pla starters that have been hanging around his office. mob picks cyndaquil and names her cindy. ritsu picks rowlet and doesn't name him at all (this gives reigen pause, but ritsu seems to have a new fire in his eyes, so he brushes the worry away)
when they're of age (mob waits for ritsu to reach 13. they do everything together) they both join the survery corps, and mob ends up becoming reigen's assistant :]! reigen is admittedly a little worried abt this development, about his kids going out into the wild, but they both seem ready for it (ritsu seems ... a little Too ready for it considering his past) so he relents
mob has made his opinions about pkmn clear, especially to reigen, and reigen has ended up adopting some of his ideals since he met him bc they,, well thwy sound reasonable. they sound nice. mob doesn't ever put cindy in a pokeball, and cindy had never once been in a battle other than play fights with rowlet. mob treats cindy like any other normal pet, like a friend. he looks at those boxes of pokeballs in reigen's office with a frown. he finds the idea of fighting pkmn in the wild for sport despicable. he openly scratches out the pokedex tasks like "defeat 10 times" with disdain. reigen starts seeing another world that he never rly considered before, with mob
this is where reigen senses some,,, tension, between the boys. ritsu evolves his rowlet into a dartrix remarkably quickly since joining the survey corps, and not even a few weeks later he's a got decidueye on his side. ritsu catches pokemon left and right and if they're "not strong enough" he keeps them in pokeballs until he remembers they exist again. he works on building a team with no weaknesses, or as few weaknesses as possible. bro invents competitive pkmn
obviously, mob sees this and ,,, doesn't like it. he doesn't like how Distant ritsu is with his pokemon, with creatures that he wholeheartedly believes should be treated as friends or family. he doesn't name any of them, he spends nearly all his earned money from the survey corps on items that boost their strength, but almost no money toward items for comfort, or even treats, or toys. ritsu treats his team like they're tools. the relationship between ritsu and his pkmn is,, strained. mob can sense they aren't nearly as happy as they could be
but mob knows that he can't just,, police ritsu on how he should handle his own pokemon. he may not agree with how ritsu approaches the subject, or with how ritsu's first instinct for anything pkmn is usually "fight it," but mob knows ritsu Does like pkmn. ritsu's never hated pkmn, he's just,,, scared of them, sometimes. he thinks maybe this is his way of making himself feel protected. mob doesn't like the idea of taking that away from him, no matter how much seeing ritsu refrain from giving his team a break grinds on his soul
little does he know, ritsu's strictness with his pkmn isn't born out of a fear for himself at all. he's building a dependable team to protect his brother. that's the whole reason he's doing this, the whole reason he didn't name rowlet when he first got him. ritsu knew that if he were to do this, he couldn't get attached to them, bc losing pokemon in fights is a very real possibility. it's been drilled into each and every one of his pkmn's heads that they r to protect mob at all costs. if there's a repeat of That incident, ritsu doesn't think he can handle it (>:])
WOW THIS IS ALREADY SO LONG i haven't even gotten to the kleavor part yet. fuck. if ur still reading this can i have ur hand in marriage /silly
OKAY SO . The Game's Plot comes in, finally. took long enough. reigen starts getting reports of frenzied nobles and he's most worried abt kleavor bc it's rather close to them, and the village could very well be in danger if kleavor decides to say fuck you in particular. so reigen goes Hey This is an Actual Threat That Needs My Attention I Have to be Competent For a Sec and spends the next few weeks tirelessly searching for an answer for this kleavor. some of the staff have already gotten mauled by it. reigen cannot ignore this and put it on somebody else like he usually does
the whole town is getting antsy, and mob most definitely notices. ritsu's jumpy all the time anymore, like he expects kleavor to rampage through the streets any second now. reigen looks tired and worn down, and he's been coming home later and later. mob watches as reigen makes plans to use force against kleavor with a sour taste in his mouth. he tries to tell reigen that force isn't the answer here. reigen, bless him, doesn't know how to tell a kid that friendship and rainbows isn't always the answer
after another week or so, mob's had enough. they've gotten nowhere closer to calming kleavor and more people have gotten injured, so mob quietly writes a note and leaves it on his bed, makes sure he doesn't wake up ritsu or cindy, and leaves the house before reigen comes home. he sneaks out over the fence so the guards at the gate don't catch him. he sets off to go see kleavor
he fully and truly believes that force is not the answer. he fully and truly believes that if he goes up to kleavor with no pokemon to fight it with, no weapons or spears pointed at it, and just a calm voice and peaceful demeanor, kleavor will see there is no danger. the galaxy team's previous attempts have all centered around violence and scare tactics. nobody has recently come up to its territory without posing a threat. mob genuinely just thinks that kleavor needs calm
reigen finds the note. freaks the fuck out. immediately rounds up every person in the village that's capable of fighting and they march out of the village to save a kid who's in way over his head. reigen makes ritsu Promise him that he will not leave the village. he can see it in ritsu's eyes, the way he wants nothing more than the come with them, but reigen gives the argument that ritsu is their strongest soldier back home and they still need to protect the village from anything else while everybody's gone. it takes all of ritsu's self-control to not go against him (he's fully set on coming with them until reigen Grips him by the arms and says "i can't lose both of you.")
mob's plan does end up working in the end, but not quite perfectly and not at all in a good way. he steps into kleavor's territory and has it calm at first, but smth changes in kleavor's eyes and whatever Force that's corrupting it surges and kleavor snaps.
mob gets Fucked Up by that thing. sliced and thrown and clawed until he can barely stand up to run away, but it's the last blow that matters. kleavor comes down on him with a chop right to his middle and everything stops. there's a sizeable gash that cuts through mob's side horizontally and kleavor's axe is stuck in the flesh there, but once mob isn't moving anymore and nothing is making kleavor afraid, the fog in its brain clears and it sees what it's done
it also sees that mob is still awake, and despite everything kleavor did to him, he's still looking at it like he knows its capacity for gentleness. even through the pain mob looks at kleavor like he Knows this isn't what it's rly like. and as soon as mob sees the light return to kleavor's eyes he smiles, blood gurgling in his throat
kleavor hears shouts from the forest, sees torchlight and panicked yells for mob. it doesn't know what to do, don't like what it sees, what it Did to this poor kid. it winces when it has to slide its axe out from the gash in mob's side—the squelch it makes and the Noise mob lets out is the last thing kleavor needs to book it
u can only imagine how fuckin hysterical reigen feels when he sees mob on the ground like that. they brought half of the medical team just in case and reigen is rly glad they did bc if they didn't there's a good chance mob would've bled out right there within a few minutes.
he's in rly rly bad shape and is barely conscious by the time reigen grabs his face and tells him itll be okay. they bring him back to the village at record pace and every minute they take he looks paler. reigen is so scared the kid's going to die in his arms before they even get there
when they get to the gates someone from the medical team takes him from reigen's arms. reigen hears ritsu scream. the kid's shoving people away who're trying to comfort him and beelining his way to mob, but reigen catches him before he can fully see the damage bc he does Not want that bloody mess to be in ritsu's nightmares for the rest of his life
ritsu fights him and pushes him and shoves him away, screaming that he just wants to see his brother, but reigen holds him back and he ends up pulling ritsu close when the kid loses steam and just starts sobbing into his chest
to ritsu, he's failed again. to reigen, he's failed them both. to mob, despite holding onto the living world by a thread, he succeeded.
anyway that's the story so far VGEAYVUA I HAVEN'T .. FIGURED OUT TERU YET. or dimple. i know the gist of i how i want teru and mob's meeting to go tho. teru is just like ritsu but like . Worse when it comes to pokemon. uses them as tools and doesn't even rly think of them as sentient at all. until he meets mob that is :]
i'm thinkin he's the warden of sneasler! and yaknow what, just for shits n giggles and bc i love ingo too much to get rid of him, what if ingo is teru's unofficial teacher. what if. wouldn't that be fuckin hilarious and completely ruin any sense of consistency here. what if (it's happening)
i'm also pretty set on making dimple one of the wisps from the spiritomb quest that ends up following mob around. that's fitting i think

🍬 and 🍾 !!!
🍬 if you were in canon, what would the fanbase for your ship be like?
sumoru - depressed (#1) our confessions happen at the end of an episode that is right before a hiatus for the show, just to leave everyone on their toes, and then after satoru dies 99% of the fandom is making sad edits and writing angst and drawing the saddest shit known to man
sugumer - also depressed (#2) only it's more bittersweet like after suguru dies there would be a fanart of us happy together with the caption 'in another life' or something like that. stsg coded except slightly less horrible i suppose
sumrei - the fanbase is half very chill and half very mean to + insulting towards us (/affectionate) and it's full of animations/animatics of us with audios from sitcoms
kirssum - hopeful for us for 90% of the show because in aot canon it's still love at first sight but us actually getting together is a slow burn that lasts until the end of the show vdmvkd and i almost die at some point (it's a fakeout so it seems like i actually did die and then i reappear episodes later) and then the fanbase is happy because me n jean kiss at the end of the show and have our happy ending the end <<333
saisum - thinks we are cute and fluffy and domestic, the gag is every character was trying to get us together before anyway so the fanbase also thinks we're stupid but when me n sai are finally official it is a giant relief VKFJVLD
sumhan - fanbase loves us so bad because we are mostly the comedic relief couple <<33 up to our silly shenanigans and being a breath of fresh air amongst all the death (except the occasions where we get serious and look super cool teehee)
susasu - depressed (#3) angst angst angst out the ASS. fanbase mad asf from getting punched in the gut all the time. also they have to watch me suffer exponentially from losing both suguru and satoru in less than two years and then live with those losses afterwards </3
🍾who confessed first, and how did it happen?
sumoru - satoru (technically because he kissed me first but that's in my first kiss post) but to sum it up we had our first smooch at a party and then the next day we talk about it and he confesses :3
sugumer - suguru...i was a little intimidated by his completely ethereal and godlike beauty and his playful/flirty personality </3 so i was second-guessing if he was serious or not and therefore nervous to confess, and he ends up teasing a confession out of me (something like this):
sug: what, do you like me or something ? haha (with his arm around my shoulders and leaning into me🫣) sum: no... sug: aw, really? because i really like you.
sumrei - me. tried throwing out hints because we were already fucking, got into an argument at his place once before we were supposed to sleep together, i called him an asshole and reigen asked "well why do you keep coming around me then?" and i went "because i like you. asshole."
kirssum - jean, i fear i am not good with confessions in most universes and he liked me for a long time (years) so at our at the end of hs, he confessed to me when we were alone and our dates had either ditched us or just weren't around
saisum - mee :33 it was short n sweet and totally spontaneous. okay imagine at the end of a manga chapter after whatever action/drama happened and we're just chilling on the floor reading manga or playing video games in sai's apartment and we start talking about how everyone (king, bang, genos, f*buki) keep trying to matchmake us. and then in the last panel it's just:
sum: wanna get together, then? sai: sure :D end
sumhan - hangeeee :333 we hang out a lot, often alone, and over time tension has built between us until one day after me n hange have been out all day, we're outside looking at the sunset and it's quiet and serene and they just drop the confession out of the blue. and i have the most "😀???" look on my face because it caught me totally off guard and hange starts panicking and then i start panicking and trying to tell them it's alright because i feel the same way and we start laughing (levi is staring at us from nearby but he can't hear the conversation, just thinks we're bein goofballs again)
susasu - me <3 because they display the worst homoerotic tendencies ever so i'm like "oh they're together" and our rs changes in a subtle but noticeable way which leads to a conversation (confrontation?) initiated by satoru which kind of forces the confession out and they confess right after
selfship ask game!

Mob Psycho S2xEp13 Reaction
Broccoli. Just Broccoli.
Giant ass Broccoli in the middle of the city.
It probably will never be mentioned again but will still be in the background.
I'm not surprised they decided to keep the main antagonist alive. I dont think anyone would want Mob to have that on his conscience. He is just a kid after all. Though the fact that the villain apologized did catch me off guard a bit, i dont hate it but its alright. Like i said before I wish we got more time with Sho as a character because while slightly interesting, I didnt really feel anything toward him. Sorry if hes your favorite, I just thought he was ok to me. If we see more of him in the next season I might change my mind.
I know for a fact that Reigen gets shipped a lot with Serizawa too thanks to me checking out ao3 after finishing s2 so their interactions must be entertaining next season/in the manga. I look foward to watching s3

i finally had one of those tumblr dreams people are always talking about
it was like this long ass post in the old tumblr style where all the replies were fucked up and it started with this comic of a mostly naked, insanely buff guy free climbing, sans ropes or harnesses or anything just using his bare hands. and hes on this one big really round peak and he looks across the expanse hes climbing on and sees a matching one in the distance, and he just uses all of his raw strength to SWING himself across the gap and grab onto the other one. and then it zooms really far out and it turns out the man is extremely tiny and the two points hes climbing on were a set of nipples on someone elses muscular chest
and the whole thread was just ppl manipulating this comic like making it zoom out more and its reigens chest or putting piercings on the nipples or one rly big contribution was one where it kept zooming out over and over constantly showing that each chest at the end was the chest of another tiny man climbing on another chest
and then someone posted a live action one somehow and for some reason the final panel was the giant dude who was getting climbed on like? water skiing???
and by the end people were juust all replying to the post with SOUL IMAGE which was, like, an independently-developed meme in the dream implying that a picture restored power to your soul. and they wer e saying this on the nipple rock climber post .

〈“Every single day I feel that gold underneath. I see the locked doors but I got the key. I’mma give you a second just to catch your breath.” Zayde Wolf, “Gladiator”〉
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
My eyes blinked open, vision blurry as I reached for my phone in the darkness. Three in the damn morning… what the fuck woke me up? I reached up to rub at my eyes, feeling something wet against my fingers. Was I crying? Maybe I had a bad dream and that’s what woke me up… but I certainly don’t remember having a nightmare. Whatever.
I rolled over as I yawned loudly, easily slipping back into unconsciousness.
⊱ ────── {⋅. 🔥 .⋅} ────── ⊰
The morning sky was covered with dark gray clouds, rain soaking the earth below. Despite the rough morning I had, feeling the cold rain soaking through my uniform felt absolutely amazing, easily putting a smile on my face. It’s weird as fuck since my quirk deals with fire, but I’ve always felt peace when it rains. As a child, I would literally drop everything I was doing when it started to rain so I could just sit outside and watch it fall. To me, the rain signifies new beginnings, washing away the sins of the past.
“Excuse me.”
And then a fucking human being has to come and ruin that peace. I sighed deeply, turning halfway around to see a beanpole of a boy with dark brown hair and matching eyes. “What?”
“You’re… Jen Winchester, right?”
Goddamn sports festival, now everyone and their fucking pet knows who the fuck I am. A bead of sweat dripped down my cheek. Or maybe it was a drop of rain, who knows. “Depends who’s askin’.”
He grinned brightly, adjusting the umbrella handle that sat against his shoulder. “I thought so, but I wasn’t sure. We haven’t actually met – my name’s Yuki Reigen.”
I looked at his outstretched hand with narrowed eyes. That name sounds familiar as fuck but my mind is completely blank, though that’s nothing new. If it ain’t tacos, Deadpool, or cats, I have no spare brain space.
He laughed awkwardly, pulling his hand away. “I looked different when you saw me… my hair was blonde and I was wearing blue contacts. You helped my little brother, Riku.”
“Ah!” Recognition flooded my mind and probably my face. “He’s fucking lucky I caught him when he jumped from the stands. He coulda been seriously fucking hurt, bro.”
He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. “Yeah, he can be a handful.”
I raised a brow, putting my hand on my hip. “You’re the one that was too fucking distracted by a woman to notice that he had slipped away. Be a better brother before you lose your chance.”
He sweatdropped. “You don’t pull any punches, huh. Anyway, I was hoping to catch you so I could thank you.”
“For what?”
“Riku has always been… a troubled kid. Our dad is a pro hero – not a very good one, but a hero. When mom got pregnant with Riku, dad wasn’t doing too hot money-wise and then he started drinking. He blamed all of his failures on Riku, which is completely baseless.” He shook his head, brow furrowed as he recalled the memory. “I don’t know how, but Riku remembers all the horrible things dad said to him before he left us, so he’s always acted out – getting into trouble, skipping school, picking fights. His eyes were on you from the moment you took down that giant robot. I haven’t seen him that excited in a long time, you know. It’s really small, barely noticeable, but… he’s starting to change and I fully believe it’s because of you. So, thank you, Jen Winchester.” He bowed low, his back becoming wet from the rain.
I smiled, patting his shoulder to make him straighten up. “He’s a pretty good kid. Take care of him, yeah?”
“I’ll work hard to be a better brother!” He smiled, but it quickly dropped when my hand squeezed his shoulder.
“You better, because if you don’t, I’ll cut your dick off and make you eat it, ‘kay?” I smiled brightly, patting his shoulder again.
“Y-Yeah… sure…!”
We parted ways and I continued on toward U.A. high, stifling a yawn as I readjusted my bag across my shoulder. I stepped through the archway of the school and the rain suddenly stopped, making me pause. The fuck? Is there a fucking bubble around the school or somethin’? I glanced up, seeing a transparent umbrella over my head.
Reggian appeared on my right with a grin. “Hey, there Winchester. You’re looking kinda we – holy shitbricks, what happened to your face?!”
I scowled, gently poking at the swollen skin under my right eye. “Aizawa’s fucking cat attacked me while I was fucking sleeping this morning.
“Wait, you live with a teacher?” He wiggled his brows. “Scandalous.”
I rolled my eyes. “He’s a family friend, dumbass. I’m helping him out while he’s injured.”
We continued toward the school building and he hummed. “Did you at least clean and disinfect the wound?”
“I mean, I washed the blood off.” I rubbed my right eye, which is red and still fucking stinging. “I also got toothpaste in my eye.”
“Bitch, how the fuck?!”
“I have no fucking idea… stop laughing, you twat!”
He covered his mouth, clutching the frame of the entrance as his shoulders shook with laughter. “Y-Y-You’re a mess!!”
“Yeah, no shit.” I rolled my eyes before activating my quirk. My body started to heat up, effectively drying my uniform, but his damn laughter fucking distracted me and once my concentration slipped, my damn tie caught on fire. “Fuck,” I scowled, putting the flames out and throwing my burnt tie into the trash bin.
Reggian laughed harder, slapping the footlockers with his hand and earning strange looks from the passing students.
“You’re such a loser,” I muttered, pulling my boots off and changing them for the ugly ass white ones to school makes us wear indoors.
“And you’re a nerd!”
“Your fucking face is a nerd.”
“Your twat is a nerd.”
We stared at each other blankly for a solid two minutes before bursting out laughing, earning even more looks from the passing students. Iida came rushing through the doorway with Zuku close behind and he smiled at me, making me raise a brow. “Good morning, Winchester! Where is your tie? And what happened to your face?”
“She set it on fire,” Reggian managed through fits of giggles, his hand over his mouth. “And angered the cat gods!”
“I see. Please be more careful!” He smiled before turning to the ravenette. “Sorry, I don’t know your name. I’m Tenya Iida, class 1-A’s class rep.”
My brow furrowed in confusion and I glanced at Zuku, who was shaking the water from his umbrella. The last time I saw Iida, he was adamant that I don’t belong here and that I’m connected to the League of Villains, and now he’s treating me like I’m a friend? The fuck?
“Regina Reggian, but please call me Red. I’m from class C.”
“Ah, general studies, I see. It’s nice to meet you!” Iida held his hand out and the two shook hands before he turned to his locked, taking his rain boots off. Reggian sent me this weird-ass wave that looked like he dislocated his wrist before turning and walking away.
Zuku watched him for a moment, chewing on his bottom lip thoughtfully. “So, Iida, um…”
“If it’s about my brother, don’t be concerned. I’m sorry if I made you worry.” Iida smiled, pushing back the hood of his raincoat. “Everything will be fine.” And then he walked away.
Zuku turned to me with a frown, his brow furrowed in concern. “I’m really worried about him, Jen.”
I hummed, throwing my arm around his shoulder in a half-hug. “Just be there for ’em, but don’t push. If he needs help, I’m sure he’ll let you know.”
“I hope so…”
“Come on, we don’t wanna be later.” I ruffled his hair before walking toward class with him close behind. As always, excited chatter greeted us as soon as the door was slid open. Honestly, the day I walk into this room and it’s silent is legit gonna be the first day of the apocalypse, I’m callin’ it.
“It’s so weird that people recognize us from TV.” Ashido chirped happily. “Everyone wanted to talk to me on my way here!”
“Yeah, me too!” Kirishima grinned.
“People on the street were staring at me!” Toru added, her invisible hand resting over her chest. “It was kind of embarrassing,”
“Sure, but isn’t that pretty normal for you?” Ojirou asked softly, sweatdroppng.
Pft, I was just gonna fucking say that. I mean, if I fucking saw a pair of floating clothes going down the street, I’d fucking stare, too, thinking the fucking life fibers were invading. Oh god, and then Nudist Beach would arrive. Just the thought makes me shudder.
“You won’t believe what a bunch of elementary school brats yelled at me,” Sero complained with an expression that clearly said he was shook.
“‘Nice try’?” Tsu guessed and he cried out, grabbing his hair between his fingers. Guess she hit the nail on the head, huh.
I tuned out the chatter, following Zuku to his desk behind a certain blonde. Katsuki was sitting in his desk with his chin resting against the heel of his right hand, clearly still sulking about the festival. I grinned, “Yo, Katsuki. You look constipated, as usual.”
“Shut up,” he grumbled, glancing at me. “You look like someone bitch-slapped you. Twice.”
“I got bitch-slapped by Aizawa’s damn cat,” I deadpanned.
“Dumbass.”
“You still mad about me not making the top two?”
He was silent for a moment, turning his head away so I couldn’t see his face. “… Sparky said you defended me against that blonde extra from class B.”
I hummed. “I defended the whole class, you included.”
Another moment of silence before he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. “Don’t fucking do that again. I don’t need your dumbass to defend me.”
I smiled, ruffling his ash blonde hair. “I’ll defend all of you ’til the day I die, so get it over it, brat.” I stepped off to the side, ruffling Zuku’s hair, as well, before heading to my seat behind Momo, who sent me a kind smile and a small wave as I passed. She half-turned in her seat, looking like she wanted to say something, but she turned back around when the door slid open.
Hmm, looks like Aizawa got his bandages off, that’s good. “Morning.”
“Good morning, Aizawa-sensei.” The class chorused as he stepped up to the podium at the front.
“Ribbit. Aizawa-sensei, you don’t have bandages anymore, that’s good news.”
He rubbed the skin under his eye with his pinkie. “The old lady went a little overboard in her treatment. Anyway, we have a big class today on hero informatics.”
Hero who in the what now? Fuck, I need my phone. Let’s see, pull up Goggle, type in whatever fucking shit he just said, and search… uhh, ‘the science of processing data for storage and retrieval’… fuck, can a girl get a definition for her definition??
“You need code names,” he said blankly. “Time to pick your hero identities.”
“This is gonna be totally awesome!!”
Aizawa activated his quirk, eyes glowing red as his hair shot up to slap gravity in the face. Seeing this, the class instantly went silent, reclaiming their seats. “This is related to the pro hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together.”
His hair fell back around his shoulders as his quirk deactivated.
“Normally, students don’t have to worry about the draft yet, not until their second or third year, actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first-years like you, pros are essentially investing in your future potential. Any offers can be rescinded if their interest in you dies down before graduation, though.”
“Stupid selfish adults!” Mineta slammed his fist on his desk, body shaking.
“So what you’re saying is, we still have to prove ourselves after we get recruited,” Toru spoke up.
“Correct,” Aizawa continued. “Now, here are the totals for those of you that got offers.” He clicked a remote and the board behind him sprung to life.
Tumblr media
“In the past years, it’s been more spread out, but there’s a pretty big gap this time.”
“Gah!” Kaminari threw his head back with a groan. “That’s no fair~”
“What about the real star, moi?” Aoyama huffed, cupping his cheeks with his hands.
“Todoroki got the most ahead of Bakugo?” Kyoka asked in surprise.
“Yeah, it’s the opposite of how they placed in the festival,” Kirishima added.
“They probably weren’t excited about working with a guy who had to be chained up in the end,” Sero shrugged with a grin.
“If I scared a pro, they’re just weak!!” Katsuki yelled.
Momo sighed sadly before forcing a smile and turning to Todoroki. “That’s amazing. You must be proud.”
“These offers are probably because of my father.” He responded coldly, not sparing her a glance.
Ochaco had tears in her eyes as she grabbed Iida’s shoulders, shaking him back and forth. “People want us!”
Mineta reached forward, shaking Zuku. “Midoriya! You got none! I bet everyone was really grossed out by the crazy way you were fighting!”
I scowled, balling up a piece of paper and throwing it at his head. “Leave him alone, dipshit, you didn’t get any either. No one wants your perverted ass!”
“Despite these results,” Aizawa raised his voice, gaining everyone’s attention. “You’ll all be interning with pros, got it? Even though of you who didn’t get any offers.”
“Oh, so, we’re all interning?” Zuku asked in surprise.
“Yes. You already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ facility, but it’ll still be helpful to see pros at work, up close and personal, in the field, first-hand.”
“And for that, we need hero names!”
“Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!”
“These hero names will likely be temporary, but take them seriously or -”
The door slammed open. “You’ll have hell to pay later!” Midnight stepped into the classroom and the perv squad got stupid looks on their faces, staring at her intently. “What you pick today could be your codename for life. You’d better be careful or you’ll be stuck with something utterly indecent.”
I rolled my eyes. Does she have to sway her hips like that when she walks? Like, we get it, you have a nice fucking body and you’re proud, but at least have some decorum around your damn students, dumbass.
“Yeah, she’s got a good point.” Aizawa agreed, brow furrowing briefly. I wonder how he chose his name. Does he regret it? “Midnight is going to have final approval of your names. It’s not my forte.” He reached down, grabbing his yellow sleeping bag and stepping inside of it.
“Now wait a minute,” I scowled, leaning to the side to see around Momo. “It’s our names, why the fuck do they need to be approved? And by her, of all people. If she has her way, we’ll all have fucking lewd ass names.”
She pouted, cocking her hip and resting her wrist against it. “What kind of person do you take me for, Winchester?”
“You really want me to answer that?” I deadpanned. “Thot.”
Even though I muttered the last part under my breath, she heard me. A tic mark appeared on her temple and she launched at me, pulling me into a tight headlock. “What did you just call me, brat?!”
“Hah?! Are you going deaf, grandma?!” I struggled against her hold.
“I am not old!!”
“You’re right, I’m sorry. You’re fucking ancie – ow!!”
The class only sweatdropped as they watched us argue back and forth.

Shifting Perspectives - Ch. 9
Serizawa gets a text message. Teru and Shou practice some skills.   Summary:
How many espers does it take to rescue one abducted conman?
Months after the events of the World Domination arc, Reigen disappears sometime between leaving the office and after-work plans. Serizawa finds himself the unwilling leader of a bunch of former Claw members and a couple of stubborn teenagers, determined to get Reigen back.

“Th-thank you again for choosing Spirits & Such for your spectral solutions; come again if your problem returns!”
Serizawa pressed the office door gently but firmly closed – before the overly grateful customer could launch into another round of fawning compliments. He leaned heavily against the door with a relieved sigh and allowed his eyes to slide shut for just a moment, trying to remember why he’d thought opening the office today would be a good idea. He was lucky the woman’s issue really had been spectral in nature. Even at the very best of times he had no aptitude for the kind of charm Reigen could put into play, much less now. But the tiny spirit clinging viciously to the customer’s purse had been an easy job; he’d exorcised it with a single surreptitious flick of his hand before she’d even finished explaining her troubles. Getting rid of the customer herself, however, had been a bit more of a challenge. Tsuchiya, lounging behind the desk that Serizawa usually occupied, shot him a sympathetic look that did not quite hide her amusement. “Damn, I thought the door was gonna catch on her eyelashes, with how fast they were fluttering.” Tsuchiya grinned. Serizawa made a face at her, and sighed again. “Sorry, that was probably a bit abrupt of me. It’s usually Reigen who takes care of seeing out our more, uh, amorous customers. I think he considers it a fun challenge. I’ve gotten too used to throwing him at them as a distraction to get out of doing it myself, since he can manage to do it without being rude.” Tsuchiya rolled her eyes. “That’s the nice thing about running the boxing gym. Being rude is practically one of the techniques.”
Serizawa snorted, straightening up to keep from simply sliding all the way to the floor, as Tsuchiya returned to her text conversation.
As the only one of the group who owned her own business, Tsuchiya had offered to stay with Serizawa while they all waited to see whether Hatori managed to dig up any more clues from the video with his technological wizardry. Serizawa had urged the rest of his little rescue band to return to their jobs for the day – there was no reason why they should all put their positions at risk – and he would let them know as soon as he heard anything. They had gone, protesting all the way, but it made him feel like less of a burden.
He’d tentatively suggested that Tsuchiya go into work with the rest of them. She’d fixed him with eyes like steel and said only: “The gym will be fine without me for a day or two; that’s what assistant managers are for. You shouldn’t be alone right now.” Serizawa had almost cried at the show of support, which just made her uncomfortable – Tsuchiya really preferred actions to emotions. Serizawa walked heavily back to the chair behind Reigen’s desk, feeling a little sick that the action might imply he thought Reigen wasn’t coming back. He’d started the morning just sitting on the office couch, until Tsuchiya had pointed out that might look unprofessional to any customers. The office had already seemed bigger than usual, somehow, with just the two of them. Almost like the force of Reigen’s personality had taken up the space of an entire third person. Serizawa pulled out his phone and pressed the power button, preparing himself to wait the small eternity the decrepit thing needed to start back up. He normally kept his phone off and stowed in a drawer during the work day, in an effort to put forward the best businessman face that he could. Today he was so paranoid about missing a call from Hatori that he’d had to fight himself to turn it off even when a client walked right up to him.
But with each hour that passed with no news, the clearer the message became: the video was a dead end; they were back to square one.
Tsuchiya exhaled loudly and began typing a long text message, thumbs flying aggressively over the keyboard.
“Mukai still wants to help?”
“Yes,” Tsuchiya said with an eyeroll, voice brimming with affection. “Little ass-kicker. We’re lucky she doesn’t know where we are, or she’d have been here hours ago. I’m telling her that we’ll call her in if we need any more firepower.”
Serizawa felt his lips twitch up in the first smile in days. “And the chances of you actually telling her to come join us are…?”
“Exactly zero.” Tsuchiya nodded decisively, snapping her phone shut with a resounding clack. “After Claw, I’m trying to give her as normal a childhood as possible, but it’s difficult. She’s so smart, and so powerful – she’s having a hard time making friends her own age.” Tsuchiya rubbed her face, her expression shadowed with a weariness that was more mental than physical.
Serizawa’s heart twisted in empathy; he well remembered similar difficulties in his own childhood, and that was without the trauma of being recruited to Claw before the age of…
...He shuddered. He knew Claw kidnapped children as young as possible, for the brainwashing to be most effective. He found he didn’t want to know how young Mukai had been when she was taken.
He opened his mouth to offer his sympathies, but was interrupted by a chirp from his own phone sitting innocuously on the surface of Reigen’s desk, announcing he’d received a message during its brief hibernation.
Serizawa stared at the phone, frozen, until his body caught up with his brain.
Hatori!
He lunged; the phone practically leapt into his hand, and probably did have just a bit of telekinetic assistance. He had not one, but two messages; unfortunately they were not from Hatori, but from an unknown number. Serizawa swiped at the screen, frowning, disappointment crushing down as quickly as his hopes had risen.
“Not Hatori?” Tsuchiya had jumped to her feet, but relaxed at the slow shake of Serizawa’s head.
“No… it’s someone I don’t know. But, it’s… it’s weird…”
The message was one giant mass of characters, and Serizawa read through it in increasing bewilderment. Something about the… the government?”
He blinked. Ugh, was this political spam?
Serizawa slumped against the desk in disgust; well, a spam message might explain all the typos. He scrolled halfheartedly through the jumbled mess of kanji, only skimming now. The last thing he wanted was for political campaigns to get hold of his number, when every message sent his emotions on a thrill ride that was somehow mostly plunging falls. Serizawa had been doing his best to be a model citizen, but at the moment he couldn’t give two shits about the upcoming elections, or the government as a whole, for that matter, regardless of what they wanted. Something about kids? Serizawa squinted, tilting his head as though that would make it easier to read. Kids, and-
Wait… ‘Mob?’
An electric jolt zipped up his spine; Serizawa leapt back to the beginning of the text and read with frantic exhilaration. He clutched the phone so tightly he was afraid he might break it in his fervor. But his excitement faded into mounting anxiety as sentences slotted damningly into place with the context of the sender.
Serizawa whirled to face Tsuchiya, who’d straightened in alarm.
“I think…!” Serizawa could barely hear himself, his heart drumming too loud in his ears. “I think it’s Reigen!”
Tsuchiya’s eyes flew wide; she dashed to read over his shoulder.
Reading it through a second time did not alter the conclusion he’d drawn; Serizawa brought up a second hand to minimize the shakiness of his hold on the tiny device that had brought him both jubilation and horror.
The government – the government – had taken his… had taken Reigen. Because they thought Reigen was responsible for the increasingly peculiar psychic phenomena that had been occurring in Spice City.
Because who they were really looking for was Shigeo.
Serizawa reeled; his lungs couldn’t seem to take in any air. They wanted to take Shigeo, his wise little friend, who wanted a life filled with nothing more than kindness and normalcy.
And Reigen had – ? What? Told them that he was responsible for everything?
Reigen, Reigen no…
The message was all warning. Warnings for Serizawa, to be careful of anyone watching him. To make sure no one had any more reason to look too closely at the kids. It said nothing about where. he. was.
Serizawa almost did crush the phone, then, out of sheer frustration. He resisted the temptation – it might still be able to tell him something.
He tried calling the unknown number, once, twice, three times. Each one rang through to a curt, no-nonsense voicemail message. The voice belonged to a stranger.
He was so close. He could feel the chance falling through his fingers like grains of sand, possible to grasp but only with the right knowledge, the right equipment, the right-
Tsuchiya pointed at an icon at the top of the screen, interrupting his racing mind. “Is that another message?”
Serizawa had completely forgotten about the second text. He opened it at once, but it contained only a single, blurry photo.
A single, blurry photo of two street signs, the names of which were still perfectly legible.
A destination. Finally, a god-damned location.
His mind snapped onto the street names like a hound with a scent. He could finally do something.
He called Minegishi, words spilling out before they could even say hello.
“Minegishi! He sent a message, he sent a text! Reigen! We have a clue, we have a – a picture! A street sign! We can find him! Those people that took him – in the video – they’re from the government, but we can search the street names and find where he is! I’m gonna-”
“Ok, calm down,” Minegishi said, more unflappable than ever in the face of Serizawa’s tripping tongue. There was the sound of talking in the background, of a door opening and closing. “I’m leaving now. I’ll text the others. We’ll meet you at the office within an hour, two at most.”
“Two hours? I’m leaving now, Minegishi. Tsuchiya’s here, we can go, we’ll find the intersection,” He looked up at Tsuchiya. She was already on her phone, searching the internet for intersections with those names. “We have to get there before he gets too far from that street, before-”
“Serizawa.” Minegishi’s voice was loud and curt. “You just said someone in the government has him. You don’t know who, you don’t know why. You don’t know what kind of resources they have to bear, which means you could walk straight into something that could get you taken as well, or worse. And you are not sacrificing yourself for anyone else, we are done with that.”
Their voice broke, surprising both of them into silence.
Minegishi didn’t say anything else, but Serizawa could hear the sounds of traffic in the background; they hadn’t hung up. Serizawa gritted his teeth. The urge to run straight to the intersection was almost overpowering, but… the implication behind Minegishi’s words deserved a response.
“Reigen isn’t using me, Minegishi.” Suddenly Serizawa almost smiled, as a long-ago conversation about job duties floated up from his memories. “Or rather, he’s very upfront about how he is most definitely using me. That is, to help his business succeed. I’m in charge of beating the crap out of anyone or anything that might be a threat, you know.”
Minegishi said nothing to that. Serizawa realized belatedly that now might not be the best time for jokes; the adrenaline rush from finally having a firm lead had pushed him towards something approaching giddiness. He quickly sobered.
“I promise he’s not manipulating my emotions like that. I promise. I know exactly where we stand.”
Whether he liked it or not, he thought with a slight pang. Not important right now, Serizawa.
The silence lasted one heartbeat, two. And then a sigh whispered through the line.
“Just.. please wait? We’ll get there as fast as we can. You find the location, look up the fastest route there, and we can discuss our plan on the way. It won’t be that much slower.”
Serizawa was itching with the desire to run out there, after Reigen, right now. But if he could push his panic away for just a second… Minegishi did have a point. It would be better for Reigen if he could come in with real support.
Despite this logic, he probably wouldn’t have been able to hold himself back if he hadn’t been coming to the sinking realization that Reigen’s texts had arrived almost 45 minutes before he’d seen them. Reigen was either on the run, long past the intersection where he’d managed to take a photo, which meant they’d have to follow a train anyway. Or, he was hiding somewhere nearby. Maybe with the phone he’d somehow gotten ahold of turned to silence, so it wouldn’t betray his location to his pursuers…?
Serizawa made his decision.
“Fine. I’ll wait, for at least an hour.”
Minegishi’s sigh was a punch of static. “Thank you. We are on the way.”
Serizawa ended the call, and immediately called the unknown number one more time. Just as before, it rang through to voicemail. This time, Serizawa spoke when prompted.
“I’m coming for you. We’re coming for you. Please hold on.”
He stopped himself before he could say something more, something that was simply not appropriate, not right now. Not in these circumstances. Instead, he added only the simplest, most overwhelming hope in his heart.
“Stay safe.”
He ended the call, and settled in to research Spice City’s sprawling train lines.
Tsuchiya was arguing that the less-direct east train got to the business district faster than the midtown line when a text message tone made Serizawa jump.
His heart leapt instantly to his throat – Reigen!? – until he realized the buzz had come not from his own phone, but from Reigen’s, which he’d recharged and placed back in his pants pocket. He’d grabbed it to look at the sender before he recalled that it might be an invasion of privacy. But it was too late – he’d already seen the sender’s name, and a preview of the message that appeared on the lockscreen.
[Mob]
[Sunday 11:48 am]
[Hi Shishou. Ritsu is acting kind of weird. He said nothing is wrong but I was wondering if you…]
Serizawa stared at the words, his stomach twisting in horror. The message was cut off, but the preview said enough.
Shigeo was starting to figure out that something was wrong.
‘It’s Mob thety want Mob you have to keep him away, pleas keep him safe no keep them all away, all the kids, I don’t know what they would do with kids, Serizawa please make sure…’
Serizawa squeezed his eyes shut. And slowly returned the phone to his pocket.
If he was smarter he would respond to Shigeo’s message, pretending to be Reigen. He’d send something reassuring, but very short, to sound as much like him as possible without giving away the ruse. But the lies of omission were already sticking in his throat, trickling nauseatingly into his belly; he simply couldn’t bring himself to lie so directly to someone he trusted.
They had a location. If they were lucky, they’d have Reigen back before Shigeo’s concern had the chance to blossom into real suspicion.
Serizawa knew only one thing that Reigen wanted right now, one thing he could do for him: protect the kids from the people who wanted Shigeo, to keep the people who had Reigen from finding out it was Shigeo they wanted. These people who had already taken one person he cared about. He would keep all the kids, whose powers made them too obvious a target, as far away from this business as possible.
***
“So here’s what I’m thinking,” Shou said, staring intently enough at the government building that he might as well be trying to intimidate it into revealing its secrets.
He and Teru had watched the building all morning from Shou’s lofty hideout, hoping daylight would reveal new information. There had been a buzz of activity a few hours ago; a half-dozen people dressed in black burst from the three different exits they could see, but it’d been hard to tell exactly what was going on from Shou’s chosen lair around the back of the building.
Shou’s glare suggested that Teru might have pointed this out one too many times.
They’d relocated to the roof of the building across the other side of the street from the government stronghold, hoping to get a better view. Bright sunlight gleamed across the empty space, glinting off the satellite disks and air conditioning units the two crouched amongst, peeking over the edge of the building to survey the site. Yet the only movement below was the usual traffic of busy pedestrians, scurrying along the street like ants. The building revealed nothing new. It was time for them to try breaking in.
Shou continued voicing his plan aloud, not bothering to wait and see if Teru had any suggestions.
“We wait invisibly by the door, until someone opens it for us. Then we can slip through-”
“What, no handy key-card for this one?”
“They change the system too often,” Shou snapped. “Both times I managed to steal one, it stopped working within a month. But this is how I’ve gotten in before without setting off any alarms – I know my way around inside.”
He turned suddenly to fix Teru with an almost accusatory stare – or, maybe that was just Teru’s imagination. “You can make yourself invisible, right?”
Teru drew himself up, insulted. “Of course I can.”
“Good.” Shou nodded, and started to turn back to the building. Teru took advantage of Shou’s attention elsewhere, and flexed a bit of his power. “So we get in, stay invisible, and search the place until we find Reigen, figure out everything that’s keep-”
“And what if we can’t find him?” Teru cut in quickly. “Who knows how long it might take us to find Reigen, just by snooping around, having to be quiet to keep anyone from noticing.”
Shou snorted. “I know where they keep prisoners. My pops is-”
“Your father is an ultra-powerful terrorist turned long-term prisoner. Reigen is a guy they only just grabbed off the street, for reasons unknown, who has zero psychic ability. In my hardly-uneducated opinion, I sincerely doubt they’d waste one of the super-protected cells on him.”
Shou rolled his eyes. “Damn, guy gets kidnapped once and thinks he’s an expert.”
“I’ve never been kidnapped,” Teru said instantly. Shou opened his mouth to argue, but Teru beat him to it. “I walked into the Seventh Division headquarters on my own volition, to help Shigeo get Ritsu back. Who, I should mention, had been kidnapped. It took two Claw-tier espers, taking me by surprise, in their own base, to capture me. After I’d incapacitated more than one of them in that night alone.”
Teru was breathing too hard; as soon as he noticed, he forced himself to relax. “As a child, I evaded several kidnapping attempts and acquired a large amount of information about the process. I think it’s a reasonable guess that Reigen might be in a different part of the building.”
“Ah. Yeah, Claw does, I mean did, like to go after the little kids. They’re much easier to manipulate that way, ya know.” Shou’s gaze was unnerving. “They get your folks, too? That why you live alone?”
“Of course not,” Teru said, instantly defensive. “The first time was a bit of a close call, I suppose, but I handled it.  And they… we were... more prepared, after that.”
Shou was looking at him oddly; clearly interested, but not reacting in quite the way Teru would have expected. It put Teru on edge; he was getting tired of how carefully he had to tiptoe around Shou.
“The point is, I think it’d be good to have a backup plan,” Teru said briskly. “For example: if it’s taking too long to find Reigen, or… any other issues, I can cause a distraction.” Teru brought one finger up to his chin in a thoughtful manner. “If we make them think someone is attacking, part of their defense system will undoubtedly involve some people going directly to Reigen’s location. They’ll lead us to Reigen while I keep up the distraction, and then we'll sneak him out under its cover.”
Now it was Shou who looked offended. “Do you think I can’t come up with distractions?”
“I would never suggest such a thing,” Teru said, with utmost sincerity. “It’s just that, I am, perhaps, a bit more talented at distractions that don’t also require anything to be set on fire.”
"Quite talented,” said Teru, from just behind Shou’s left shoulder.
“Probably the best in the world at distraction; it’s just one of our vast array of talents,” said Teru, from directly behind Shou’s right shoulder.
“Probably the best in the world at distraction; it’s just one of our vast array of talents,” said Teru, from just behind Shou’s right shoulder.
Shou launched himself five meters straight into the air, simultaneously forming a blob of bright energy in his fist. Teru had expected some kind of retaliation at being surprised, of course, but had underestimated just how quickly a spooked Shou would respond to a perceived threat. The first psychic clone managed to dodge Shou’s blast completely, but the second suffered singeing to its entire right side. Teru sighed disapprovingly.
“Wow, you really can’t take a joke, can you?”
Shou’s eyes were large with fury, and for once, he seemed too angry even to speak. Teru’s clones took advantage of the silence.
“Teru’s the best at jokes; you should feel lucky to have the chance to be part of one,” Clone One said in pompous, chiding tones.
“Teru’s right,” said Clone Two, voice slightly more irritated than the first as it patted anxiously at its smoldering hair. “Do you even know what some of the old Black Vinegar kids would do for the honor of having a joke played on them by Teruki Hanazawa?”
Teru hastily waved a hand, dispelling the clones before they could say any more. Teru had discovered somewhat to his chagrin that, unless he was actively directing the clones, they behaved and spoke much more like he had before meeting Shigeo than he did now they didn’t have as much of a filter as Teru would have liked.
“So you see,” Teru said smoothly, “I can lead any meddlesome government employees away, while we remain invisible. Should such an occasion be necessary.
Shou returned slowly to the ground, eyes narrowing as he peered at Teru with suspicion.
“If you’re so eager to demonstrate your talents, you should probably show me your skills at invisibility as well.”
Teru put a hand to his chest. “Do you think I’m lying?”
“Show me, Hanazawa.”
Teru tched, but complied with a pulse of power, concentrating on bending light. He kept his face as smooth as possible, so as not to reveal just how much effort he had to pour into this particular trick.
Shou inspected him carefully, eyes squinting in the bright sunlight.
“Hanazawa… is it just me, or is your gaudy-ass aura still perfectly, fully visible?”
Teru released the power instantly, reappearing.
“It’s perfectly suitable for most occasions!” Teru said quickly. “It… it simply goes... rather against my nature to hide my gifts. I've honed them so specifically for different tasks-”
“Oh my god.” Shou dragged a hand down his face. “You’re so goddamn extra that you’re literally having trouble with invisibility. Oh my god.”
Teru folded his arms across his chest. “Only espers can detect me. And given proportion of people we’ve seen entering and exiting the building, it’s far more likely that a non-esper will be the next person to appear.” Teru moved his hands to his hips. “And I’d like to point out, if we’re going to discuss the gaudiness of one’s aura-”
Shou’s face was turned to the sky, as if seeking guidance. He took a deep breath.
“Ok. You know what: fuck it. We’ll just have to try and avoid any espers in there altogether. Let’s get this over with. The sooner we get Shigeo’s master back, the better.”
Teru was just as eager to be done with Shou, and contemplated multiple possible replies. Rejecting all of them in favor of simply not granting that comment a response, Teru turned and led the way to the rooftop access door. He pointedly ignored the irritated muttering from his companion as they let the door swing shut behind them, cutting off the brilliant sunlight, swallowing them in the darkness of the descending stairwell.

Chapter 3: Simple
The bus arrived not too long after Ritsu showed up. Teru payed for the tickets as he had promised, and they both made their way to their seats.
“So where exactly are we going?” Ritsu asked.
“It’s a surprise!”
Of course it was, but Ritsu was too tired to complain or protest. The bus was mostly empty with nobody else but a single sleeping man in a suit. Now that he and Teru were both sitting down, Ritsu was beginning to realize just how hard it was to keep his eyes open. The night was foggy and there was hardly another car on the road. Stoplights shot by like shooting stars, putting Ritsu into a hazy trance. Surely, there was no harm in getting a little bit of shuteye. Ritsu shuffled his body into a comfortable position and closed his eyes.
It didn’t take long for his consciousness to fade. As soon as he shut his eyes he immediately began to drift off. And just as quickly as he left the waking world, he was brought right back by the feeling of a cold sensation dripping down from his head and onto his back and chest.
“What the fuck?!” Ritsu yelled, as he jolted awake and looked to his right to see Teruki holding a now half-empty water bottle in his hand and sporting a shit-eating grin.
“No sleeping!” Teru put a cap on the watter bottle and reached back into his giant backpack.
“You assho-MPH” Ritsu was about to tell Teru off, but his mouth was suddenly full of something rather tasty. Teru was holding a breakfast sandwich in his mouth.
“Eat,” said Teru. “It’s going to be a long bus ride, and you need to stay awake for all of it. So, if you’re tired, eat.”
Ritsu took a bite and swallowed, pulling the sandwich out of his mouth.
“I already ate a banana this morning.”
“Not enough. Eat or you’ll regret it later. Our next meal is at noon. Although I’ll allow for a single snack break once we reach our destination.”
Ritsu reluctantly took another bite of the sandwich. He hated to admit it, but it was really good. For some reason, that pissed Ritsu off even more.
But Teru was right about one thing; the bus ride was really long. And staying awake for it was torture. The opportunity for sleep was dangling right in front of Ritsu’s eyes, but his jacket and shirt were still damp from Teru’s cruel wake up call. Ritsu looked back at Teru, who was staring straight ahead with bright eyes. There wasn’t a hint of exhaustion on his face.
Is he even human?
It was exactly six when Teru nudged an exhausted Ritsu to notify him that this was their stop. A hint of light was just peaking out through the foggy horizon, but anyone could still mistake the scene for night. The stop Teru had picked seemed to be in the middle of nowhere. There was only an old looking bus stop, and a lot of forrest just off the road.
“Ok!” said Teru, in an obnoxiously cheery voice. “Now we can start.”
“Is this where we’ll be doing psychic training?”
Teru laughed, as if Ritsu had just said something absurd.
“Psychic training?” Teru laughed, as if Ritsu had just said something absurd. “We still have a few hours before we even start that!”
“What?”
“Psychic powers can be used strictly with the mind, like with your brother, but not all of us have that kind of gift. In order for espers like you and me to become strong, we need to train both our bodies and our minds.”
“Are you serious?” Ritsu didn’t think it was possible. Teruki Hanazawa may have just reached beyond Reigen levels of obnoxiousness.
“I’m dead serious. Even if you never use your physical strength in a battle, training your body will give your mind a sense of discipline. Now start stretching. We depart in five minutes.”
“Depart?”
“Of course! We’re not even close to our destination just yet.”
Of course…
The stretching at least helped Ritsu wake up a little bit, but all the while he had Teru talking his ear off.
“This part is simple,” instructed Teru. “Your job is to follow me to the training grounds at my exact speed. No slower.”
“And I can’t use my psychic powers?”
“That’s right! But I won’t be using mine either, so we should be pretty even. I heard you were one of the fastest in your school, Ritsu-kun.”
“Yeah, I am.”
“Well I am too, so this should be nothing for you!”
That should have been true. But Ritsu could sense a more sinister intention behind those words. His smile was too bright. Ritsu felt it. Underneath that innocent looking grin and those encouraging words, there was sadistic intent lying in wait. Teru was absolutely about to kick Ritsu’s ass in one way or another. Ritsu could tell.
And Ritsu was absolutely right. It had been… well Ritsu wasn’t entirely sure how long it had been. The sky was no longer dark, although it was still gray and foggy. But the sun had obviously risen and it had done so a while ago. It had to have been at least over an hour since they started.
At the start of the run Teru confiscated Ritsu’s phone. He said something about discipline and psychological warfare and how fighting through that would help him in the long run. Or some bullshit like that. All Ritsu knew was that now he was running toward a special training place that Teru promised to bring him to. When they’d reach it, Ritsu had no idea.
Ritsu was certain now. Teru was absolutely a monster. Even with that huge backpack on his back he was still keeping up a consistent pace that was significantly faster than Ritsu’s.
Ritsu’s panting and wheezing must have become loud enough to reach Teru’s ears, because he started yelling out more words of “encouragement.”
“Come on, Ritsu! I thought you were supposed to be one of the fastest in your school!”
Ritsu thought so too, but with no clear end in sight and no way of telling how long it had been since they started, the process of running became not only physically draining, but also mentally draining. The uneven ground didn’t help. They really were in the middle of nowhere. There were no roads nearby to speak of. The ground was muddy and slippery and full of roots and rocks and other things that could easily trip anyone up.
And yet Teru was doing just fine, keeping his balance and never slowing his pace. And Ritsu couldn’t sense a hint of his psychic powers. Teru was doing all this with his own physical strength.
Unless, Ritsu though, Maybe he isn’t.
Ritsu did have to wonder if there was a way of concealing psychic powers. Usually, any esper could know right away if another esper was using their powers to accomplish something. But there seemed to be a lot of ways to use these abilities. Ritsu wondered if he could do it. He’d just use his powers for a slight boost.
Ritsu focused his energy onto himself. All he needed was a slight speed boost, that was all. He did it subtly, as if he was just slightly nudging himself forward. And before he knew it, he found himself face first in the mud.
“Didn’t I tell you not to use your psychic powers?” Teru was now jogging in place above Ritsu, looking down on him with a smirk. He was barely breaking a sweat.
“Bastard…” Ritsu coughed out, as he got up on all fours, spitting the mud out of his face.
“Did you think I wouldn’t catch you?”
“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?”
Teru just laughed, and started running ahead again, forcing Ritsu to quickly try to catch up.
I’m gonna kill him. I’m gonna kill him. I’m gonna kill him.
The rest of the run was hell. Ritsu’s whole body was now damp and muddy, making his clothes a much more noticeable weight. Every step was a new kind of torture. Ritsu was almost certain that Teru was just fucking with him at this point, and he was almost about to throw in the towel completely until Teru’s pace started slowing down at an opening in the forrest.
“We’re here!” Teru yelled back as he stopped. Ritsu ran up to Teru, about thirty seconds behind him and slouched over putting his hands on his knees practically gasping for air.
Ritsu’s vision was blurry from sweat and watery eyes, but he had a pretty good idea of where “here” was. He knew something about this forrest felt familiar, and looking at the broken mossed over building, he recalled some familiar feelings of anxiety.
“This… is…” Ritsu attempted to say between gasps.
“That’s right! It’s the Seventh Branch! Or at least, what’s left of it,” confirmed Teru. “Here, we don’t have to worry about holding back. This place is already destroyed.”
Ritsu took a seat on the grass and was about to open his mouth to say something until Teru interrupted him.
“What are you doing?”
“Sitting down?”
“Why?”
“I’m tired, asshole.”
“You know it’s bad for your heart to sit down right after a long run.”
“Fuck off.”
“Get up. Walk around the building once and come back.”
Ritsu wasn’t quite sure before, but now he was absolutely certain Teru was getting some kind of sick kick out of his pain. But Ritsu got up, reluctantly admitting to himself that he was the one who asked for this, and started walking. It took about fifteen minutes to walk around the whole structure, and Ritsu was starting to realize just how hungry he was. When he came back, Teru was sitting down eating a sandwich.
“Why do you get to sit down?”
“That run was nothing for me.”
“Whatever,” Ritsu said, about to kneel down until a force stopped him from doing so. He looked over at Teru, who was pointing a finger at him.
“Not yet,” Teru said with a smirk. “Let me finish my meal. Then you can sit down and eat.”
“What?”
“Stand still until I’m done. This is another part of your training.”
“What does this have to do with psychic powers?”
“Are you frustrated?”
“Of course!”
“Good. Then I’m doing my job.”
“What are you talking about?”
“Ten minutes.”
“What?”
“Ten minutes of standing in silence until you can eat. I want you to focus on your discomfort and frustration. I want you to deeply analyze it, find out where it comes from, and focus how it feels. Psychic powers come from emotions, and I assume the frustration you’re feeling is strong. That’s good. Work through that, and try to understand that.”
I understand perfectly why I’m frustrated, thought Ritsu. But he remained silent, and did as he was told. After all, he did ask for this. For some fucking reason.
The source of the frustration that Ritsu was feeling was definitely obvious, but thinking back, Teru wasn’t entirely wrong. Frustration was one of the words he used to use to describe it. That feeling seemed to take on lots of forms whenever it grew. It would always branch off into all sorts of emotions, but the source always remained a mystery. Frustration… where was it located again? Usually, it would reside in his throat, but today it seemed to be wrapping tightly around his teeth. His teeth…
Ritsu barely noticed it before, but now that he relaxed his jaw he realized he had been clenching his teeth this whole time. Dammit, they actually really hurt! Ritsu mentally cursed at Teru, whom he decided to blame for all of this.
Ritsu was never known for being the friendliest of people, but he wasn’t quite as hateful as he seemed. He certainly had people he disliked, but hate was always too strong a word to describe the way he felt towards certain people. And the truth was, that feeling would only come out when he felt the need to defend his brother. But in that moment, Ritsu felt what he could only describe as pure, simple hatred. There were no complexities to it. There were no other elements involved. Ritsu hated Teru simply because Teru was being an asshole to him.
But, for a second, Ritsu could have sworn he felt something lighten in him. It came back as soon as he thought about it, but for just a second that feeling seemed absent. Ritsu tried to focus back in on his frustration, but to his surprise, it was gone. His jaw was still sore and his teeth were still aching, but his mouth was perfectly relaxed and neutral.
“Ok,” Teru interrupted, “You can eat now.”
“Huh?” Ritsu was sure it hadn’t been ten minutes yet.
“It’s a bit early, but you were doing so well. Consider it a treat.”
“Were you reading my mind?”
“Telepathy isn’t my specialty. I can’t read your thoughts exactly, but I was able to get a vague idea of your inner productivity.”
Ritsu grunted. He wasn’t in the mood to protest. He was just happy to eat. He slumped down onto the grass and started sifting through the backpack Teru left out.
“Don’t eat too much of that,” warned Teru, “That’s gotta last us the whole trip”
“Yeah, yeah.”
“When you finish up we’ll start with some barrier training.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. But first, I’m thinking we should try to find a good spot inside the building. With all the rubble in there, there’s definitely a lot to work with. And we can go completely nuts and break whatever we want, so why not utilize that?”
Teru was grinning again, but this time, Ritsu couldn’t help but smile a bit too.
Am I actually enjoying this?

ok you know what i’m going to talk about him anyway…don’t read it if you’re going to be rude or make fun of me
i love…reigen…so much. his personality includes all of the qualities i love most…he’s sweet and caring and romanticizes life as much as i do. he really cares about people and is a pretty humanistic for a guy who scams people for a living.
also I’m a sucker for eccentricity…i really hate the fact that i am but he’s kind of a fucking weird ass dork and i love that so much. he puts so much personality in the things he does even when he tries not to…and i love when he breaks his cool façade it’s so cute…
or that hand thing he does. it kills me. i love it. he is so god damn cute. god. i am so gay. god I’m gay
i like how he’s pretty level headed most times and he comes off as really…relaxed and cool but he’s really a giant dork and he’ll go from acting like he’s hot shit to screaming in half a second. i loves it.
he’s just so sweet….he’s so good…he’s cute and i love him he’s cute even when he’s making his ugly ass faces i don’t even care. we’re are gay married. i want to clean up his hair and straighten his tie. which is embarrassing. but I’m too tired to care right now. i love him..like…way too much…

Shifting Perspectives - Ch. 8
Reigen gets some fresh air.
On AO3: <http://archiveofourown.org/works/11091201/chapters/31720494>

Reigen figured he had maybe a twenty percent chance of getting safely away.
Truthfully, he reflected as he dashed headlong down the city street, he hadn’t actually expected he’d get out of the building at all; phase one of his Marvelous Escape Plan had gone remarkably, astoundingly well. Unfortunately, that meant he hadn’t really hashed out much of phase two beyond ‘run your bloody ass off’.
He was amassing quite the collection of odd looks, tearing down the sidewalk in the middle of the day – the morning, maybe? The light felt right for that, falling in bright slants between towering buildings of concrete and glass, so that Reigen ran through alternating patches of sunlight and shadow. He slowed to match the pace of the people around him, suited workers scurrying between buildings, clutching briefcases and checking watches. Yet he couldn’t stop twisting around to see if anyone was following him, searching among his fellow pedestrians for black-clad figures who flickered with a power he could almost see…
It was a ridiculous notion, he knew; if the mercenaries got close enough for him to see them, he was as good as caught. Hell, if that Sonata woman got involved, he’d be caught just as soon as she got him in eyesight. He needed to focus on moving as far away as he could, but also on what he could accomplish here and now, so that all the effort he’d put into seizing this chance wouldn’t go to waste.
The sounds of a commotion in the distance jump-started his slowing heart; a new thrill of panic shot up his spine, and he leapt back into a fear-fueled sprint.
Four blocks, five, and he had to slow again to catch his breath – goddamn smoking habit. He continued at a trot, drawing in sharp, quick breaths that smelled of asphalt and garbage fermenting in the sun.
He’d never smelled anything so wonderful. Who knew garbage was the aroma of freedom.
Reigen considered his situation. His phone was gone. So was his wallet, which would make acquiring any kind of transportation beyond difficult. Sadly, charm was only going to get him so far – bedraggled and grubby, the politest description anyone could grant him right now was ‘disheveled.’
Reigen thought fast, eyes flicking up and down the street, assessing and dismissing potential targets. A woman was walking briskly a few meters ahead, head bowed over her phone. Reigen dashed toward her with a scheme only half-formed, panting heavily with an exertion only barely exaggerated.
“Ma’am! Excuse, excuse me!”
The woman whirled around, eyes narrowed, the hand not holding her phone diving for a pocket. Visions of pepper spray or worse danced in Reigen’s vision; he threw his hands up in a gesture that was half-placating, half shielding.
“I’m sorry! So sorry to bother, to startle you, but , uh… A wreck! I was in a car wreck, lost my phone, please, please can I borrow your phone for just a second-?”
The woman eyed him with more trepidation than sympathy, gaze lingering on his wrinkled clothing. “Um, I’m sure one of the offices around here would let you use a phone. Or-”
“No, please! I-” Reigen allowed his very real desperation to fill his voice and expression. “There’s no, no time! I have to…” A blast of inspiration. “My, my son was in the car! He hit his head, there’s blood, so much… I have to get an ambulance!”
He knew he wasn’t being careful enough – the woman looked on the edge of bolting. But he was out of options, and with the espers likely to be on him any second…
“Please…” His voice cracked, surprising them both.
She hesitated a moment more, and then sighed, shoulders slumping, and tentatively held out her phone. “Please make it quick, I’m already going to be late.”
Reigen took the phone carefully, a priceless treasure. He clasped it firmly in one hand, looked up to meet the woman’s gaze… and broke into a dead sprint away from her.
“Hey, you-!”
He tossed an unconvincing, “I’ll bring it right back!” over his shoulder, and ran even faster. He was fresh out of clever; outrunning his newest difficulty would have to work instead.
Okay, phone: acquired! Once the outraged sounds behind him had faded, he slowed, anxiously scanning his surroundings for any sign of the esper guards before ducking into a covered entryway. He tapped open the phone’s text application, thumbed open the keypad, and…
Reigen stared at the phone.
Well… shit.
If he dug deep into the back of his mind, he could probably remember the number of his family’s home, which hadn’t changed since his childhood. But the only person that would pick up was his mother, who was possibly the last person he’d want to call for help. It wasn’t like she was in a position to do anything to help him, and even if she was… He could practically hear her disapproving tone, muttering reproachfully in his ear: ‘Maybe if you had a real job, you wouldn’t have gotten abducted. Salarymen don’t get abducted, you know.’ She’d hold it over his head for the rest of his life.
Unfortunately, he only had two other phone numbers memorized.
The first was Mob’s. And like hell he would pull Mob into this on purpose; calling him would do the exact opposite of what he wanted to accomplish. But that left only one person, whom he wasn’t so enthused about involving either…
But there was no other choice, and time was not on his side. He typed in Serizawa’s number and began composing a message.
Info info info – what was most important? He needed to warn Serizawa, to tell him that he’d been under watch, might even be so now, and that someone might be coming after him. He needed to tell him to keep Mob away, that his kid was the one they were looking for, and that- No, wait, all the kids, Serizawa had to keep the kids away; the only reason the government hadn’t been watching the kids is that they hadn’t any reason to suspect them as major sources of power. And, damn it all, why were there so fucking many psychic kids in Reigen’s life, that was so many potential targets! Reigen was pretty sure that at this point, Nagata would grab any number of kids in a second if he thought one of them had the potential to be a city-destroyer.
Reigen typed his jumble of thoughts out in one giant text, and pushed send on the garbled mess without bothering to edit for errors. The gist was there; now, regardless of what happened to him, Serizawa wouldn't be completely blindsided by any goons in black. Okay. That was done.
Reigen poked his head out of the shaded entryway, scrutinizing each of the people who walked into view on the likelihood that they were agents in disguise searching for him. One man threw him an odd sideways glance and Reigen’s heart shot into his throat. The man broke the eye contact, speeding his pace up a notch, and Reigen realized he was just displaying the usual unease of having a stranger stare suspiciously straight at you.
Satisfied, Reigen leaned back into his hiding spot and pushed limp bangs out of his eyes, breathing a little easier. He looked down at the phone still clenched in his sweaty palm, another idea slowly materializing. This was his chance to get some actual help, possibly the last he was going to get.
It just depended on how selfish he wanted to be.
It was clear to Reigen that unless he was incredibly lucky, he wasn’t going to escape this. And even if he did, what would he do then? They knew exactly who he was; would he leave the country, go into hiding? No. His business was here, and was more profitable than it had ever been, thanks in no small part to Serizawa’s increasingly significant role. Reigen wasn’t going to find another partner like that, who would put up with him, and worked with him so seamlessly, so patiently.
He hadn’t forgotten the difficulties of Spirits & Such’s beginning. It had been nothing but long days of a quiet, empty office, of sporadic customers, of wondering every morning if today was the day he would quit and start over. His business now made these early days seem like another lifetime, with Serizawa there to help him open each morning, and with Mob and Teruki and any number of Mob’s other friends traipsing in and out of his office, filling it with chatter and energy. He was happier than he could ever remember being, going to work each day. And he didn’t… he didn’t want to lose that.
He needed help. He needed to talk through the problem and seek advice from someone else, someone he trusted.
Choice made, Reigen straightened his suit as best he could and finger-combed his sweaty, ruffled hair. He stepped carefully out from the alcove and resumed walking at a normal pace, shooting glances behind him, furtively searching for anyone paying him too much attention. He headed straight for the nearest intersection; as he passed, he took one surreptitious photo of the street signs. He reopened the texting app to Serizawa’s number… and paused, staring at the photo on the screen.
What if, in his efforts to hold on to everything he had built, he ruined it all? “Hey Serizawa, I’ve landed myself in a bit of a pickle – don’t suppose you could come help me and somehow convince the actual fucking government to leave me alone, could you? Oh, whoops, I got you arrested and held captive for something you didn’t do? Sorry ‘bout that, but I’ll be sure to come chat during visiting hours!” Reigen’s insides curdled at the very idea. And what if that was the best-case scenario? What if Serizawa came looking for him, and got injured? Or… or worse?
But the idea of being caught again, subjected to containment and even torture for who knew how long… Reigen’s fear was a living creature, writhing in his chest, clutching at his throat, cutting off his breath. His finger hovered over the send key, as indecision rendered him immobile in the middle of the sidewalk.
He was jolted back to reality by a man pushing gruffly past him, grumbling under his breath about sidewalk etiquette. Every passing second was precious; he needed to make a decision, and get back on the move.
Self-disgust raked at his belly; prickles of hot shame crept along his skin. But Reigen was, ultimately, a selfish person. And Serizawa was an adult. He could make the decision not to do anything, after all.
Reigen pressed send on the photo before he could change his mind.
If he manages to get me out of this I’ll have to give him a raise, he thought wildly. He shoved his hands in his pockets, one still clutching the phone, and turned onto a street with heavier foot traffic. He melded into the stream of pedestrians, striving to become one among dozens of ordinary white-collar workers, instead of a desperate prisoner on-the-run, still trying to decide if he’d done the right thing.
***
The bus stop was so close.
Reigen closed the stolen phone again, mental image of the bus stop location imprinted over his mind’s eye as he turned a corner to cut through an alley. He needed to get off the streets. Paranoia was eating away at him, and he felt imaginary eyes boring into his back no matter which way he turned.
Is it really paranoia when someone is actually out to get you? Reigen told his mind that now really wasn’t the time for witty comments. His mind responded that if he was reprimanding the voice in his own head, he might have even more problems than he knew.
Reigen shook himself, and focused. He needed to start by getting out of this district. Maybe going on the run wouldn’t be so bad, after all – maybe he just needed to leave the country altogether. He’d always wanted to travel. Well, okay, he’d always imagined he’d like to be the kind of person who wanted to travel. Maybe now was his chance. Could he risk going back to his apartment to gather what he could…?
He continued his stroll down the alleyway, the very picture of nonchalance. He thought he could see the bus stop sign ahead, growing closer, and closer… and miracle of miracles, a bus was just pulling up to the stop. He upped his speed to a light jog – that was a normal, non-conspicuous thing to do, right? Running to catch a bus? Certainly not running from anything else, like violent government assailants, or his own thoughts, oh no not at-
Something punched into his back, ramming him forward into the ground.
Reigen’s entire face erupted in pain as it hit the concrete. He screamed, twisting instinctively; a hammer-blow slammed into his exposed side. All his breath left him in one weak gasp. Something inside him crunched, grinding together in a way that felt wrong, wrong, wrong. For a split second he felt nothing, like his entire body was one giant inhale. In a flash, searing pain exploded along his torso.
He curled himself protectively around the sharp throbbing in his ribcage, body tight with anticipation of another blow. Instead, he felt himself hauled up and tossed over a burly shoulder. Wind rushed in his ears. He cracked his eyes open; though his vision was reduced to a smear of color, he could still make out the shapes of black combat boots dashing across rooftops below. Nausea roiled; he hopelessly shut his eyes once more.
Every jolt of movement brought a small gasp of pain to his lips, until he settled into a dull haze of pain and defeat. One last coherent thought managed to float up, forming sluggishly, yet dripping with disdain.
You idiot, they’re espers. You forgot to fucking look up.
