From Roger Perron: Awesome August Homeowner Tips
Tumblr media
Hello,
August has some beautiful sunny days and sunsets.  The sunshine can actually improve our health, so be sure to spend some time outside this month.
Here are some great August homeowner tips. A great time to prep your furnace for the winter
One good tip would be to get your furnace inspected, tuned and cleaned as needed during the summer by a reputable HVAC company (HVAC stands for “heating, ventilation and air conditioning.”)
That way, when you turn your heating on for the first time in the colder months, it will be working reliably and smoothly. Get it prepped and tuned now to ensure your coziness and safety when the cooler weather arrives. Give the refrigerator door gasket a cleaning and check for leaks
The refrigerator door gasket is a flexible elastic strip attached to the outer edge of a refrigerator. The freezer compartment also has one. The gasket is designed to form an air-tight seal that serves as a barrier between the cooler air inside the frig and the warmer environment outside.
Cleaning the door gaskets enables you to check for cracks or tears that can let the cold air escape. If you see any, replace the gasket. Check smoke detectors
To test your smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors, press and hold the test button on the detector. It can take a few seconds to begin, but a loud, ear-piercing siren should come from the smoke detector while the button is pressed.
If the sound is weak or absent, replace your batteries. If after changing the batteries it still doesn’t work, replace the detector. Batteries should also be regularly replaced once a year. Block dirt from entering in the front door
Doormats are a lifesaver when it comes to blocking dirt from coming into your home. Keep the summer dirt or sand out by using two or more doormats. For outdoor mats, use weather-resistant, durable materials like woven seagrass or waterproof coconut fibers. An outdoor mat should have textured surfaces.
Indoor mats are best made from plants that create stiff fibers like cactus or cloth fabrics, since they stand up better inside than outside. These won’t scrape off all the dirt but will catch any uncaught debris. All mats should have non-slip backings. Tips for your home exterior
⦁ Keep small animals out of the house by sealing your chimney when its not in use. Also take a look around the attic area and block any vents that are accessible to animals. ⦁ Inspect the siding of your house and take steps to clean any mold or mildew if its growing there. ⦁ Check your driveway, sidewalk and other concrete areas and repair any cracks. ⦁ Inspect your window locks, door locks and garage door locks to make sure all are working properly.
August is a great month for keeping your home safe and in good condition.
Happy Homeownering!

A Comprehensive Look Inside a Floor Centrifuge
Floor centrifuges are essential tools in various scientific and industrial settings, offering high-speed separation and purification capabilities. Understanding the inner workings of these machines is crucial for proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This article provides a detailed exploration of a common floor centrifuge model, highlighting key components and essential maintenance considerations.
Let's embark on a journey through the inner workings of a floor centrifuge, examining its components and functionality. We'll start with the top and work our way down, exploring each section in detail.
The Top: LEDs and Boards
The top of the centrifuge houses essential control boards and LED indicators. These LEDs play a crucial role in diagnostics, providing information about voltages and operational states. When examining the top, look for any loose connections or damaged components.
The Bottom: Brake Assemblies
At the very bottom, you'll find the brake assemblies. These assemblies are critical for stopping the centrifuge's rotation safely and efficiently.  It's essential to inspect these assemblies regularly for wear and tear. If the brakes come into contact with the floor, it can cause a short circuit and damage the instrument.
The Motor and Cooling System
Moving inward, we encounter the motor cooling fan, which draws air through the centrifuge and expels it through a tube. A filter is typically installed to capture brake dust, which can be harmful if inhaled. This filter should be replaced regularly to maintain air quality and prevent dust from accumulating inside the centrifuge.
Inside the silencer assembly, you'll find the motor itself. The wiring configurations vary depending on the motor type. You'll also find tachometers, which measure the motor's speed, and a compressor, which is responsible for generating the centrifugal force.
The Side: Temperature Probes and Refrigeration Lines
On the side of the centrifuge, you'll find wiring for temperature probes, which monitor the temperature inside the chamber.  You'll also see the condenser, fan adjust, and refrigeration lines, which work together to maintain the desired temperature within the centrifuge.
The Back: Transformers and Relays
The back of the centrifuge is where the power supply and control systems reside. You'll find several transformers that convert different voltages, power supply relays, compressor relays, slow relays, and another transformer with an unknown function.
The High Voltage Interface
The high voltage interface is responsible for powering the motor and other high voltage assemblies. It receives signals from the microcomputer board at the top and transmits them to the motor and other components.
Tumblr media
The Door: Spring Action and Stop Mechanism
The centrifuge door is equipped with a spring mechanism that allows it to swing open smoothly. This spring tension is adjustable with a set screw. The door also has a stop mechanism that prevents it from slamming against the top of the deck.
Accessing the Brushes
To access the brushes, you'll need to remove a boot and disconnect a connector for the imbalance detector. The brushes are held in place by four screws and connectors at the bottom.
Maintenance Considerations
Regular maintenance is essential for ensuring the longevity and optimal performance of your floor centrifuge. Here are some key maintenance tasks to perform:
Inspect the brake assemblies regularly and replace them as needed.
Replace the filter in the motor cooling system to prevent brake dust accumulation.
Check the temperature probes and refrigeration lines for any damage or leaks.
Clean the centrifuge chamber and rotor regularly to remove any debris or contaminants.
Inspect the brushes and replace them when they are worn down.
Perform a thorough inspection of all electrical components, including transformers, relays, and wiring.
By following these maintenance guidelines, you can ensure that your floor centrifuge operates reliably and efficiently for years to come.
Understanding the inner workings of a floor centrifuge is crucial for maximizing its performance and ensuring its longevity.  Regular maintenance and proper handling are essential for preventing damage and ensuring safe operation.
If you're looking for high-performance floor centrifuges, consider Drawell.  Drawell offers a wide range of floor standing refrigerated centrifuges, including ultra-capacity models, designed to meet the demanding needs of research, industrial, and clinical laboratories.
