Several years back I got a call from @canopyplanet on research they uncovered that connected rayon production to forest destruction through British Columbia and Indonesia. I had already done work in the area with @rainforestactionnetwork but I wanted to understand what was happening firsthand, so I decided to fly out to Northern Sumatra to stay with the Pandumaan-Sipituhuta to see how palm oil and rayon were affecting natural habitat and their link to their home and land. I never published this video, and this was before I had any editing skills, but I figured now would be a good time to tell their story, as this relates back to part of the conversation with @redleafexotics on the actual pressures happening in that area of the world, particularly as it relates to Nepenthes conservation, or in the Padumaan’s Case: benzoin, which is their livelihood. The full video is up on my Facebook page at Homestead Brooklyn. I engender to tell more of these stories and show our greater connection to plants in 2018. (at North Sumatra)
