Quarantine Things

In these 21 days of quarantine, I have:

- seen lots of kids in underwear and pajamas. Seriously, my kindergarteners on Zoom are just chilling in t-shirts, underwear, or PJs. Parents aren’t even worried about them getting dressed

- realized I will never consider going to the store a chore again. I miss going to the store so much. It’s not the same doing a pick up order online. Not to say grocery store employees aren’t doing a fantastic job, but I’ve gotten so many items I didn’t want as substitutions for items I did want that I just miss going and getting it myself

- all the knowledge of the rapture. I have no excuse now not to dodge my dad’s sermons and so I’ve been hearing about the end times as much as I’ve listened to Hamilton, so now I know everything about the end of the world

- been visiting Starbucks every.single.day. Starbucks is no longer a treat but my only trip out of the house. When the coffee shops open up again, Starbucks is going to get a long break from me

- gained the knowledge of how to get away with murder. I’ve been watching so much criminal interrogation psychology videos that I know exactly what and what not to do in a police interrogation. I could commit a violent crime and probably get away with it

- made so many planners/journals. It’s unreal how many little journals I have lying around have become planners

New Personal Account!

I somehow became locked out of my email address that I use for my tumblr account so I’m making it again (I think this is time number 3). This is my NON-FANDOM account. If you’re looking for the Rochambeau and/or other fic stuff, please check out @rochambeauuniverse.

It’s been a while since I’ve been on tumblr, but for anyone that’s interested in refollowing for my adventures in a new city (cue homesick wailing), new job (I have to wear a dress and I’m called ‘Mora Erica’), and more.

Got a lot done today. Went walking, posted the fic rewrite I’ve promised for over half a year now but never followed through (my apologies), about to have a phone conference with my boss to see how we want to set up a virtual classroom, and I’m also about eat out of a jar of olives standing up like a possum eating out of a garbage can.

I know everyone has a different idea of the ‘Golden Age’ of television, but the late 2010s were truly the best. 

I have to brag on Psych for a minute because I think if it was on today, it would be very very popular in the fandom world. 

It’s about a 26 year old very smart and hyper-attentive, but super lazy guy who under fear of being arrested for always calling in very crucial clues and tips for Crime Stopper money claims to be a psychic. He ends up getting hired as a consultant by the Santa Barbara Police Department and along with his Pharmaceutical Sales Rep best friend, they make a hilarious Holmes and Watson duo.

The show is so light-hearted and funny and can be dark and sad at times, but it’s just...it’s GOOD. It got silly after the writing got kind of bad into later seasons, but the first four seasons were amazing. And what’s even better, LGBT characters at the time were still confined to stereotypes, but Shawn (the lead character) is very obviously bi and then years later was officially confirmed to be bi which was nice when this was all still very rare.

@cate-r-gunn @redhoodsstrife and @rustyshackleford90  knows what I’m talking about. This was our jam.

My birthday was the day of the shut down so I sat in a parking lot and ate Poutine and drank Starbucks. I didn't have any big plans since it was a Tuesday, but I had been planning on asking someone to coffee which fell through. Other things that were postponed:

- Letterkenny Live

- Birthday weekend @rustyshackleford90 had secretly planned for me

- Work (I'm so bored and can't tell time anymore)

- Houston Holi Festival

What I plan to do once this is all over:

- Triple birthday celebration of dinner and drinks with @rustyshackleford90 and @tiredalwavs

- Take Niece #1 out for a birthday shopping and ramen trip

- Sit inside my favorite coffee shop and weep happily
