gavin reluctantly going to iad with kody since it’s what he calls a “haven” for demons like him

them being at enforcer freelancer’s mercy, telling them that the president has a fascination with demons, hurts kody and gets separated from gavin

gavin reuniting with a badly bandaged huxley and a passed out lasko

academy president dear who splashes lasko to wake him up, treats huxley horribly, calls gavin by his demon name and him not knowing how to react or how they know. they take a liking to the demon as said by the freelancer

tyrant royalty angel and their fire elemental consort damien who even is the empowered one feels a definite power imbalance between them

sam who gets turned against his will all over again

Freelancer can practically see the steam rushing out of Gavin's ears.

His face is red and his eyes were glaring holes into them. If they didn't know any better, they'd say he was mad at them.

But they saw the way Gavin's lips fought a smile. The corners of them tugging up without his approval, entirely giving away his facade.

They've grown awfully fond of him, and it almost scared them. Almost. No one could really be scared of such beauty, in their humble (and very correct) opinion. And if that didn't convince them, Freelancer would take any and every opportunity explaining how wise, endearing and kind the man in front of them was.

"Are you even listening to me?"

That snapped Freelancer right out of the clouds. They paused for a second, before coming clean.

"Nope. Sorry, handsome."

If Freelancer said Gavin's face managed to get even more red, he would deny it.

"You-" he starts, putting his face in his hands, breathing in and out to calm himself, "I am going to kill you."

If Gavin meant that, he didn't show it. Perhaps one could argue the blushing, smiling and wide eyes filled with adoration were all a ruse to hide his murderous intent. If that was the case, Freelancer had definitely fallen for (him) it.

Unfortunately for Gavin, Freelancer had one last card up their sleeve.

"And what are you going to do, Gavin? Fuck me to death?"

What were they here for again? Magic history tutoring? A movie date? Finishing the leftover pizza and wings they ordered the last time Gavin was over?

It didn't matter anymore, because Gavin was forcing them out of their seat, grabbing their face and kissing them breathless. All while maneuvering the both of them into their bedroom.

When Freelancer took a breath, they were on top of Gavin, legs on either side of his waist, one hand pinning one of his arms down while the other was resting on his chest. They stared at him as they felt his chest falling and rising, his heart beating beneath their touch.

They remembered what that meant, when a demon took the time to form a heart beat with magic. Slowly, they leaned down to kiss his chest, right where a real heart would be if he was human.

They looked up at him, and in their brief eye contact, Freelancer thanked him. For his help with DAMN stuff, for trusting them enough to be this vulnerable with his emotions.

For being in their life.

If Freelancer was asked if they started to cry in that moment, hiding it from Gavin by meeting his lips with their own again, they'd say it was drool.

Thank you for asking! Sorry it’s taken a while to get around to this but…I was really proud of Something To Believe In.

It was a response to a prompt from @frenchiefitzhere asking how Vindemiator came to be on Elegy, how he found out he was an Incubus and how he came to be with Kody. I had a lot of fun writing it, and I was so happy with the finished fic! I love prompts, they make me think of things I wouldn’t normally write.

Don’t even, y’all couldn’t handle what I’d be able to do with the redacted cast as greek tragedies.

“Gavin would be Aphrodite-“ WRONG.

Gavin would be Orpheus, so consumed in his vaguely justified self doubt that he turns behind if only to see and assure that his lover is there and alright.

To swiveled back around after he hears every trip and misstep and stumble and kiss and nurture their wounds himself with his own hands and mouth.

And in his care and failure, Freelancer would know they were loved.

Asher would be Achilles, raining hell upon the world if only to make it feel a fraction of the everblooming agonies in his heart with the loss of his friend and dearest love of his life

David would be Icarus, flying so close and carelessly towards the sun to only be saved by the shade of his father overhead and forced to watch him crash down to earth. Forever alone and still cursed with those ever blasted wax wings attached to his back

Asher finds out and, in this instance, is Penelope to David's Odysseus. David had been so close to crossing through the veil that no one realized he was just in the process of turning into a vampire)

Home by Cavetown - Dear (Dear in my headcanons is a trans man(he/him/they/them), and he feels a lot of relation to this song because he had a younger sister who came out after him and his parents accepted her but rejected them. "Get a load of this train wreck" and the lyrics following always make them tear up a little because their emotions were often overlooked or played down.)

I Won't Say I'm In Love from Hercules - My first instinct is to say David, and it does kind of fit. However, after thinking for a few minutes I have other characters that also work. Baabe, Smart-ass, Damien, and Sweetheart. (No explanation just the vibe I get optionally add Honey but I think they were pretty willing to reciprocate with I love yous)
