Summary:
Thanks to an especially virulent strain of the winter flu, his headstrong boyfriend’s voice crackles and rasps; punctuated by the occasional rattling cough that shakes him to the bones. His skin is pasty. His lips are chapped. Every flash of animation, it seems, comes at a cost of energy he just doesn’t have, and eyeing the general detritus of Kleenex boxes and lozenge wrappers that litter the wooden coffee table, Oliver’s hard-pressed to remember if he’s actually seen him eat.
Elio’s been slouched on their tan three-seater since the first light of dawn: swaddled in an oversized sweatshirt and some plaid pyjama pants as he rifles through various files of staff paper and his ubiquitous notebook. I’d much rather fail at originality than succeed in imitation, he’d declared last Wednesday, lamenting each scathing critique from his pompous review panel, yet much as Oliver appreciates his righteous indignation, his protective instincts can’t help but bristle at the fact he sounds utterly miserable, to boot.
There’s been plenty of herbal tea to soothe his scratchy throat. Nasal spray. VapoRub. A regular dose of Tylenol from the Walgreens two blocks over. But nothing that falls under the category of food. An untouched plate of toast on the nearby bookcase bears out his suspicions, so Oliver raids the kitchen cupboards for a can of chicken soup, then heats the contents on their gas-powered stove; wincing in sympathy when Elio convulses with a gut-punch sneeze, swearing and hacking in alternate breaths.
Several minutes of snotty sniffing later, Oliver turns off the burner then pours the simple meal into an old Columbia Lions mug: the one Elio’d claimed for his own upon his initial move to the States. The other man’s squinting at a dog-eared composition sheet when he eventually returns to the couch, and Oliver figures his blocked sinus is the culprit as he pinches the bridge of his cherry-red nose; probably trying to banish the cobwebs.
“Scoot up, Patient Zero,” he says, sitting down carefully beside him, and when Elio blinks sluggishly his mercurial eyes are nothing but dull slits of colour beneath his heavy lashes; the light of their freestanding lamp shade apparently too much to bear. “Tell me again how you never get sick?”
Elio summons a gimlet glare. “I'm not sick; I’m dying,” he groans - the edge of a wheeze rattling the vowels - but he accepts the mug all the same, and Oliver hums indulgently as he sweeps an unholy assortment of balled-up tissues into a neat little pile.
“Your stubbornness is commendable,” he says, pleased to see Elio make short shrift of the steaming liquid, if not the noodles themselves. “But do yourself a favour and get some rest, yeah?"
“Un mal nécessaire.” A yawn: barely stifled. “I have to finish these -”
“Not today you don't.” Oliver rescues the mug from his slightly-drooping hand. “Even us creatures of habit deserve a night off.”
Elio smirks; slow and playful. “Is that so?” he says, nodding at the Sophomore Ontology coursework partially obscuring the living room rug.
Which, yes. Fair enough. But -
“I’m still new to the syllabus,” Oliver replies, nudging him gently with his knee. “Professor Johnson’s lesson plans were shoddy at best. You, however, have a fever of thirty-eight.” As the flush on his sunken cheeks can attest. “So don’t pretend you’re not ready to pass out from exhaustion.”
A grunt is the only acknowledgement he receives, and Oliver’s all set to try a different tack when Elio slumps sideways like a stringless marionette. It’s completely proprietary - the way he claims his unsuspecting lap as an ad hoc pillow - but Oliver’s quick to adopt his role as a piece of human furniture, uncaring of the knobbly shoulder blade digging exorbitantly into his thigh.
Little victories, he decides, and reining in a grin, smooths the messy curls from his maestro’s clammy forehead.
“Do you need anything else?” he asks instead, the slim column of Elio’s neck spasming amidst his muttered grumblings. “A blanket? Some water? There’s a fresh bottle of vitamins in the bathroom cabinet…”
“Just your support in these harrowing times,” Elio murmurs, the arm around his middle snugging tighter, so Oliver follows his own advice as he drags a knitted Afghan over the curve of Elio's body - fishes a dog-eared copy of The King Must Die from between the sunken cushions - then crosses his legs at the ankles as he settles in for the duration.

WRITING A SELF-PORTRAIT/ Virtual Sketchbook #1
My name is Dominic, and my age is 19 years old going on 20. The gender I'm align with is male. I was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida and live in Ellenton as of today. my ethnicity that I am is I'm biracial. I play video games and go walking for fun mostly on weekends. I've been a member of the National Society of High School Scholars since 2020. as of right now I work remote at home as a Customer Service Representee. What makes me unique is that I get along with different types of people, organizational skills, and the ability to empathize people as a whole.
ART AND WRITING/Virtual Sketchbook#1
The Art that I have chosen that hangs on my wall is created by Vivian Flasch as you can see the image depicts three largely blooming white magnolias on a vine. The painting was created in the early 1990s by Flasch herself and when she created it, she was only 20 years old. This art is made from carboard, paper, wet paint, brown, Burgandy red, white. It serves as to express emotions, commemorate history, expose injustices, overcome obstacles. I think the painting is beautiful in a way because the white magnolias just catch your eye in all angles.
Discussion - Intro and First Artworks/ Virtual Sketchbook #1
1: Hi, everyone my name is Dominic and I want to give you a fun fact about myself. The fun fact is that I learned how to perform CPR and how to save someone in a medical situation in high school in which I have my CPR certified certificate.
Artwork #22 Anish Kapoor 2004-2006 Cloud Gate. Stainless steel; Height 33’ x Length 66’ x Width 42’.
When I first seen the art form, I thought it was a dome. This piece made me feel like there's a lot of creativity put into the form that is about happiness.
5 facts about the Artwork #22
1. The sculpture is nicknamed The Bean because of its bean-like shape.
2. It was created by using computer technology to cut into precise shapes 168 giant stainless-steel plates.
3. Cloud Gate appeared in several films including The Break-Up, Source Code, Transformers: Age of Extinction.
4. cost for the piece was first estimated at $6 million.
5. Kapoor was inspired by liquid mercury and the sculpture was given a formal name once fully assembled.
Compared to the first time I seen the Artform it changed my whole perspective of how it is the 2nd time mainly because what I thought it was at the beginning compared to now. I do see something in the artform different this time mainly because I thought it was a dome, but it was made in of a shape of a bean-like structure.

I'm on the fest blog but,
Consider this ask as a coupon to infodump us about something you're passionate about!
Okay first of all, you are extremely sweet to have sent this in, thank you! I’m not very good with words, so this is going to literally be an infodump, unlike the beautiful articles that you people wrote.
Lately I’ve been reading a book called The Secret Lives of Color by Kassia St. Clair. It talks about the stories of different pigments, hues and colours throughout history. The writer starts the book with “I fell in love with colors in the way most people fall in love: while concentrating on something else.” and that is honestly the most relatable thing I have ever read.
So I fell into the rabbit hole that is ancient pigments and their history.
Earlier, artists were restricted to using only the colours they could make from naturally derived pigments. That meant pigments derived from the ground, or leaves and insects. That lead most prehistoric artwork to have earthy tones.
Quite later, humanity did figure out how to form pigments from minerals and gemstones, leading to the art having a wider variety of colour. Sometimes, the art itself is a hint towards what pigments were used in its making, because people tended to draw what was around them, using paint made from what was around them.
The pigments themselves vary considerably, not only in colour, but in other properties. Some are very commonplace, some are so rare that they were only used for commissions by the royalty. Some were quite literally toxic (though that was discovered long after those pigments had already poisoned a lot of people).
In earlier days, pigments were sold in special shops, including alchemists and apothecaries, and the artists made their paint themselves.
Vermillion is a colour we are all familiar with, but the vermillion pigment we use today is a synthetically made one. The original vermillion used to be made from Cinnabar. Cinnabar, or mercury sulfide, is a highly toxic natural mineral. The first documented use of vermillion colour to date is at the Neolithic village of Çatalhöyük, in modern-day Turkey. Traces of cinnabar have been identified within burials preserved at the 8,000-9,000-year-old site. Because of its cost and toxicity, though, it was almost entirely replaced by a new synthetic pigment, cadmium red, in the 20th century. According to Wikipedia, the Chinese were the first to produce a synthetic vermillion as early as the fourth century BC.
Anything I write about art or colours would be incomplete without a Van Gogh reference. This particular story is about Van Gogh's Sunflowers, which use a generous amount of chrome yellow. The artists of Van Gogh’s day had access to a lot of brilliant blues and reds, but they did not have a saturated yellow. This changed when the French chemist Nicolas Louis Vauquelin began working on crocoite and soon discovered that the orange stone contained a new element. It was a metal, which he named chrome or chromium, after another Greek word meaning “colour,” because its salts seemed to come in an extraordinary variety of hues. By 1809 pigments made from this mineral were already on artists’ palettes. However, chrome yellow tends to brown as it ages. Research carried out on Van Gogh’s paintings in Amsterdam over the past few years showed that some of the chrome yellow in the flowers’ petals has darkened, and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers are slowly wilting. This reaction also forms lead sulfide, which is very toxic. Because of that, it was replaced by another safer pigment, cadmium yellow.
Hematite is the mineral form of iron oxide and gets its colour from Fe2O3, anhydrous iron oxide, or, more simply, rust. The word hematite itself is derived from the Greek word "haimatitis" which means "blood-red." Primitive people discovered that hematite could be crushed and mixed with a liquid for use as a paint or cosmetic. Cave paintings dating back to 40,000 years ago were created with hematite pigments. Since it gets its colour from iron that has already oxidized, it cannot rust more. So it is in a way weather-proof.
Emerald is probably one of the prettiest colours to have existed. The Romans considered green to be soothing to the eyes because the colour was so commonly found it nature, so they powdered emeralds and used them in eye balms. Because it was quite cheap to manufacture, emerald green was used not only as an artist’s paint but as a household paint: it was widely used on patterned wallpaper up until the 19th century. Unfortunately emerald green is chemically not stable, and made from a very poisonous copper-acetoarsenite. Which means it contains arsenic. In 1867, farmers in Illinois and Indiana found that Paris green was effective against the Colorado potato beetle, an aggressive agricultural pest. Despite concerns regarding the safety of using arsenic compounds on food crops, Paris green became the preferred method for controlling the beetle. By the 1880s, Paris green had become the first widespread use of a chemical insecticide in the world.
Before World War II, manufacturers often used uranium oxide in colored glazes to produce vibrant red and orange ceramic wear. This meant that these pieces of dinnerware were radioactive. But since radiation and its effects weren’t seriously studied until the late 19th century, this went unnoticed. These dinnerware lines were discontinued when the US government seized control of uranium because of WWII.
Lead white is a basic lead carbonate with a crystalline molecular structure. It is thick, opaque, and heavy, and there is strong evidence that it was being manufactured in Anatolia from around 2300 B.C. It has remained in production the world over ever since, using roughly the same method described by Pliny the Elder 2,000 years ago. The resulting pigment was used in the enamel on ceramic dishes and bathroom fittings, in house paints and wallpapers, well into the 20th century. White lead had long been used as a cosmetic to make skin look smooth and pale. However because it contained lead, it was extremely poisonous and deadly, and people who used it were often afflicted by painter's colic (which we now know is lead poisoning) because of the absorption of too great a quantity into the body.
Wow this is already too long now. Infodump accomplished!

ColourPop is dropping a Sailor Moon collab on Feb 20th and I have some Opinions
It’s the moment Sailor Moon makeup geeks have been waiting for - ColourPop cosmetics, noted for their affordable and colourful official pop culture makeup collaborations, has announced a Sailor Moon collaboration containing an eyeshadow palette, two liquid lipsticks, two lip glosses, two blushes, and two body glitters. Most likely this collab is being timed with the 25th Anniversary of Sailor Moon’s debut in North America to contrast with Japanese cosmetics from brands like Creer Beaute and Shiseido, which were released for the Japanese 25th anniversary.
Source: ColourPopCo on Twitter
After my initial excitement about the long-awaited collaboration died down, I was left with a somewhat disappointing realisation... this entire collab, over a total of nine products, was not about Sailor Moon: The Show... it was about Sailor Moon, the character.
When I imagine a makeup collection for Sailor Moon I immediately picture the rainbow of colours represented across the whole Sailor squad, or at least the OG Sailor Team five. But almost everything in the collab is quite warm, and either pink or neutral/natural. Exceedingly neutral/natural, in fact. One look at the names for all the product colours - “Shining Moon”, “Twilight Flash”, “Bun Head”, “Usagi” - make it clear that the products are intended to reflect Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon only.
The packaging itself is... interesting. I can appreciate that they were trying something new with the eyeshadow and blush cases, as they are all topped with different holographic pictures - not (just) the shiny kind of holo, but the old school kind that flips between two different images, all exclusively featuring Usagi and sometimes Luna. You can see the effect in action in this video review by TrendMood. Good concept but slightly awkward execution. I think they would’ve benefited from some kind of static frame around the images so that it didn’t look like I’d just hot glued a pog to my pencil case. The rest of the packaging features the same old redrawn clipart from every other piece of anniversary merch, so, yawn, though the prismatic elements are nice. The body glitter pots are cute, featuring Usagi’s first transformation brooch to mirror the round shape of the pots, but ColourPop’s “gliterally obsessed” branding seems out of place. I know that’s the name of their glitter gel series but maybe it could’ve been swapped out just this once.
(Screencap from above video by TrendMood)
The lip sticks/glosses are by far the most disappointing. Apart from the cardboard boxes they come in, the only branding visible on the tubes themselves is the series logo and a nondescript crescent moon pattern on the caps. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of subtle packaging. I don’t really want Sailor Moon’s face plastered all over a lipstick either; but I’ve also never been a fan of using random moons/hearts/stars as a stand-in for something more relevant to the show when that imagery is so generic and disconnected from the series. Why not little graphics of the Silver Crystal? If they’d thrown some rabbits, bows, and/or roses into the pattern then the combination would read more as “Sailor Moon” than moons on their own. (That said, splitting them into “Moonlight” for the liquid lips and “Daylight” for the lighter glosses with transformed vs. non-transformed? Brilliant. Genius. The perfect blend of nostalgic and practical.)
(Screencap from above video by TrendMood)
Here’s a photo of the palette taken from Temptalia’s website with everything but the shadows desaturated, so you can read the colours more clearly without being influenced by the packaging:
At first I wasn’t sure what this colour story was trying to tell me. I definitely understand going for a more neutral/“everyday” palette over something more glam, since the characters themselves are generally fresh-faced, but the AMOUNT of neutral shades here seem out of place for such a bright series. Tuxedo Rose and Love (the two pinks in the middle of the bottom row) are so similar for such a limited palette. Twilight Flash (top, second from the left) feels out of place; oddly saturated and just a bit too warm to play nicely with many of the other colours. Mare Serenitatis (the coppery-looking one) stood out as unusual but is actually more of a wine/plum under all the glitter, which is much more appropriate and reminds me of Sailor Moon’s transformation.
The more I looked at this palette, and the more I saw of reviewer's looks using it, the more I slowly realised that this palette wasn’t really evoking the character of Usagi herself, but rather the nostalgic, hazy, pink-washed aesthetic of the entire 90s Sailor Moon animation.
The dreamy not-quite-pastel quality of the 90s anime (half conscious design choice, half convention of the time) has received a lot of modern attention and praise. It makes sense that the palette feels like it’s being viewed through a rose-tinted filter when the entire show felt that way, or is at least remembered that way. It wouldn’t surprise me if ColourPop literally based some swatches on recurring colours picked from screenshots.
That being said... Does that make it a good choice for a makeup collab? Is this what Sailor Moon fans want and will buy? Is it versatile enough to warrant a purchase for non-diehard fans? Is it actually what casual fans, who might buy something like this out of pure nostalgia, are actually nostalgic for? Just because I see what ColourPop was going for, does it automatically translate to the most appropriate choice?
Ultimately, my judgement on that comes down to whether this is ColourPop’s only Sailor Moon collab. If this is them testing the waters to see if they can branch out into releasing products focused on the other girls, like a blue/silver mini palette for Sailor Mercury, a green/pink mini palette for Sailor Jupiter, etc. then I’m all for it. When perceived as a palette that represents the show itself, and not any specific character - not even Usagi, despite what all of the swatch names suggest - it really shines. But that’s not really ColourPop’s MO. Most of their pop culture collections are released in one big shining burst of products and then... nothing. And there are quite a few different products here.
I’d also be remiss not to point out that there are lots of indie Sailor Moon-inspired makeup collections already on the market, which makes sense for an almost-30-year-old series that literally repeats the words “make-up!” nearly every episode. Maybe ColourPop felt like they would be stepping on fandom toes or running the risk of copycat accusations if they strayed too close to any of the 2,348 red Sailor Mars-inspired eyeshadows online, though I assume they’d have the legal upper hand. In that respect, I do appreciate that this is a unique approach to a concept that has been nearly driven into the ground.
But ColourPop is not an indie brand and there are some benefits that come with that. They are generally more accessible, sometimes more affordable, can usually ship to more places in less time at a lower cost to the buyer, and can afford much larger runs that will sell out less quickly (though don’t be fooled, this collab will almost certainly start to sell out shortly after its launch). For many fans, especially younger fans, this is probably their only feasible option for Sailor Moon makeup. And some fans prefer the stamp of authenticity from an “official” collaboration, even if indie collections are often, well, better. So I think there’s an impetus for ColourPop to release a less specialised collection that’s reminiscent of more characters.
If this really is the only Sailor Moon collab ColourPop is planning to release, then the packaging, in my opinion, is an odd choice. I don’t know why they decided to focus exclusively on Usagi herself; if the colour story is meant to represent the entire series, then why not either have all the girls on the front in a rosey colour scheme, OR have none of them and focus on one of the cityscapes that clearly inspired the palette? I feel like there are lots of fans who aren’t necessarily fond of Usagi herself who may be put off by the overwhelming focus on her.
Overall: The lip sticks are nice but not super exciting, but I like what I can see of the lipglosses. The subtle glitter is very Sailor Moon. I love the Moonlight/Daylight concept but wish it were reflected on the actual tubes. The body glitters (Moonlight Legend, Moon Prism Power) are exciting and interesting, by far the most experimental part of the collab. The shape and colour choices for the glitters are very “Sailor Moon” and I can see them getting some use on the festival scene. The blushes also seem cute but a tad overpowering for the otherwise understated vibe of the rest of the collab, like the liquid lipsticks, and I love the Luna stamp in the blushes but would be sad to actually use them and see it get worn away. And while I like the gauzy backdrop-inspired looks people are making out of the palette, I feel like it’s extremely limited in the number of unique looks you could actually pull off.
So, in the end... am I going to be buying any of these? Hell, probably, if they’re not totally sold out by the time I get to them. My initial roller coaster of OMG COLOURPOP SAILOR MOON!!!! excitement dropped into “that’s it?” disappointment but has now leveled out at a respectable buzz of interest. I could see myself wearing most of these products, and the collector in me wants at least a piece of the collab for posterity. I just really hope that this isn’t the end of ColourPop’s involvement in Sailor Moon and that we might see some future products tailored specifically to the other girls, so that my collection isn’t just Usagi’s face staring back at me.
#Sailor Moon#ColourPop#Colour Pop#merchandise#long post#edit: just bc I have some questions about this collab I hope this didn't come off as overly negative#I'm still planning on buying a lot of it LOL#and the more I look at it the more excited I get#I think I wrote a lot of this when I was still in the disappointed downspiral from the initial announcement#bc I was thinking about what it 'could' have been based on my own biases#when i look back and see what it actually is I'm still very excited#the more I look at it the more I feel like these are uniquely 'sailor moon'

Discussing the History of Red Mercury
Mercury is known to everyone from childhood in a thermometer. A terribly toxic and life-threatening metal of silver-white color, liquid at room temperature. Even medieval alchemists tried to turn this unusual drug into gold.
In school, we learn from the lessons in chemistry the periodic system of Mendeleev, where Hg is the element with atomic number 80. Now, this liquid metal has long been known for a long time and has been well studied. Whatever mercury is not interested in the average person, it will not be difficult to know more about it. It’s colorlessness in steam, boiling point, compressibility, etc.
Already in the early 90s of the 20th century, rumors spread about the creation of a whole new variety of this metal. The subject of gossip was red mercury, more precisely the substance RM 20/20, allegedly produced in the USSR's secret scientific laboratories. The belief in people in the realm of the existence of the drug was underpinned by all the new stories and scandals associated with its sale. Mythical red mercury costs amazing money. Sellers requested 1 kg from 300 to 400 thousand dollars.
And those who wished to pay such sums were found, especially in the West, which at that time was still somewhat familiar with Russian ingenuity. Red Mercury was said to have simply amazing properties - from super density (over 20 g / cm 3) and super radioactivity to the cosmic origin or the ability to cure any ailments. Under the guise of her, they pushed everything from mercury amalgam to ordinary mercury colored with dyes or brick powder.
Many Soviet nuclear physicists have repeatedly denied the possibility of creating such a substance, explaining that this is not only contrary to the laws of nature, but also impossible at the modern technological level. The addition of mercury compounds to uranium or plutonium used in a nuclear reaction only reduces their radioactivity and functionality.
And now again in the media, you can find articles on the reality of scientific research discussing the formation of red mercury, as a basic substance for the development of nanotechnology or "living machines". On behalf of professors and academics, they are signing the unique opportunities that are opened to humanity through this technological discovery. Red mercury is called a universal catalyst and an inhibitor of chemical reactions, and fantastic awards are mentioned for "the philosopher's stone of the 21st century." This shows that people have not disappeared anywhere, ready to deposit a person's faith in miracles.
If you are looking to buy high quality red liquid mercury, then there are lots of highly reputable and authentic Hungarian websites selling the metallic element at very affordable prices. Why not check the websites out?

Lupine Publishers | An archive of organic and inorganic chemical sciences
Abstract
The work characterizes the electric dipole moment and the infrared spectrum of the molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi. Calculations obtained in the ab initio RHF (Restrict Hartree-Fock) method, on the set of bases used indicate that the simulated molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi features the structure polar-apolar-polar predominant. The set of bases used that have are CC-pVTZ and 6-311G** (3df, 3pd). In the CC-pVTZ base set, the charge density in relation to 6-311G** (3df, 3pd) is 50% lower. The length of the molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi is of 15.799Å. The magnitude of the electric dipole moment || total obtained was p = 4.9771 Debye and p = 4.7936 Debye, perpendicular to the main axis of the molecule, for sets basis CC-pVTZ and 6-311**(3df, 3pd), respectively. The infrared spectra for absorbance and transmittance and their wavenumber (cm-1) were obtained in the set of bases used. The infrared spectrum for Standard CC-pVTZ shows peaks in transmittance with Intensity (I), at wavenumber 1,125.44cm-1, 1,940.70cm-1, 2,094.82cm-1, 2,178.43cm-1, 2,613.99cm-1 and transmittance 433.399km/mol, 399.425km/mol, 361.825km/mol, 378.993km/ mol, 433.774km/mol, respectively. While the infrared spectrum for Standard 6-311G** (3df,3pd), shows peaks in transmittance, at wavelengths 1,114.83cm-1, 1,936.81cm-1, 2,081.49cm-1, 2,163.23 cm-1, 2,595.24cm-1 and transmittance 434.556 km/mol, 394.430 km/mol, 345.287 km/mol, 375.381 km/mol, 409.232 km/mol, respectively. It presents “fingerprint” between the intervals (680cm- 1 and 1,500 cm-1) and (3,250cm-1 and 3,500cm-1). The dipole moments CC-pTZV are 3.69% bigger than 6-311G (3df, 3pd). As the bioinorganic molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi is the basis for a new creation of a bio-membrane, later calculations that challenge the current concepts of biomembrane should advance to such a purpose.
Introduction
The work characterizes the electric dipole moment and the infrared spectrum of the molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi [1]. Using a computational simulation using ab initio methods, RHF (Restrict Hartree-Fock), [2-9] set of basis CC-pVTZ [10-14] and 6-311G (3df, 3pd) [7,5-21]. Preliminary bibliographic studies did not reveal any works with characteristics studied here. There is an absence of a referential of the theme, finding only one work in [1]. To construct such a molecule, which was called a seed molecule, quantum chemistry was used by ab initio methods [2,3,15]. The equipment used was of the Biophysics laboratory built specifically for this task. The results were satisfactory. The ab initio calculations, by RHF [2-9] in the CC-pVTZ [10-14] and 6-311G (3df, 3pd) [7,15- 21], sets basis was shown to be stable by changing its covalent cyclic chain linkages, which was expected. The set of basis used was that of Ahlrichs and coworkers the TZVP keywords refer to the initial formations of the split valence and triple zeta basis sets from this group [22,23]. The structure of the C13H20BeLi2SeSi is a Bio-inorganic seed molecule for a biomembrane genesis that defies the current concepts of a protective mantle structure of a cell such as biomenbrane to date is promising, challenging. Leaving to the Biochemists their experimental synthesis. The quantum calculations must continue to obtain the structure of the bioinorganic biomenbrane. The following calculations, which are the computational simulation via Mm+, QM/MM, should indicate what type of structure should form. Structures of a liquid crystal such as a new membrane may occur, micelles [1,24-62].
Methods
Hartree-Fock Methods
Hartree-Fock theory is one the simplest approximate theories for solving the many-body Hamiltonian [2-9]. The full Hartree-Fock equations are given by
The vast literature associated with these methods suggests that the following is a plausible hierarchy:
The extremes of ‘best’, FCI, and ‘worst’, HF, are irrefutable, but the intermediate methods are less clear and depend on the type of chemical problem being addressed. [63,64] The use of HF in the case of FCI was due to the computational cost [1, 24-62].
Hardware and Software
For Calculations A Computer Models was Used: Intel® CoreTM i3-3220 [email protected] GHz x 4 processors [65], Memory DDR3 4 GB, HD SATA WDC WD7500 AZEK-00RKKA0 750.1 GB and DVDRAM SATA GH24NS9 ATAPI, Graphics Intel® Ivy Bridge [66]. The ab initio calculations have been performed to study the equilibrium configuration of C13H20BeLi2SeSi molecule using the GAMESS [15,20]. The set of programs Gauss View 5.0.8 [67], Mercury 3.8 [68], Avogadro [69,70] are the advanced semantic chemical editor, visualization, and analysis platform and GAMESS [15,20] is a computational chemistry software program and stands for General Atomic and Molecular Electronic Structure System [15,20] set of programs. For calculations of computational dynamics, the Ubuntu Linux version 16.10 system was used [71].
Discussion
The Figure 1 shows the final stable structure of the bioinorganic C13H20BeLi2SeSi molecule obtained by an ab initio calculation with the method RHF (Restrict Hatrree-Fock), in sets of bases such as: 6-311G**(3df,3pd) and CC-pVTZ. As an example of analysis the set of bases CC-pVTV, with the charge distribution (Δδ) through it, whose charge variation is Δδ = 0.680 a.u. of elemental charge. In green color the intensity of positive charge displacement. In red color the negative charge displacement intensity. Variable, therefore, of δ- = 0.340 a.u. negative charge, passing through the absence of charge displacement, represented in the absence of black - for the green color of δ+ = 0.340 a.u. positive charge. The magnitude of the electric dipole moment || total obtained was p =4.9771 Debye, perpendicular to the main axis of the molecule, for sets basis CC-pVTZ. By the distribution of charge through the bioinorganic molecule it is clear that the molecule has a polar-apolarpolar structure, Figure 2 and Table 1. An analysis of the individual charge value of each atom of the molecule could be made, but here it was presented only according to Figure 2, due to the objective being to determine the polar-apolar-polar, the polar characteristic of the molecule, whose moment of dipole is practically perpendicular to the central axis of the molecule. In Figure 2 the dipole moment is visualized 6-311G**(3df,3pd) and CC-pVTZ in base sets, being represented by an arrow in dark blue color, with their respective values in Debye. This also presents the orientation axes x, y and z and the distribution of electric charges through the molecule.
In the set of bases used the CC-pTZV and 6-311**(3df, 3pd) present the same characteristic for the distribution of charges to the polar end with Carbon atom (negative charge) bound to the -SiH3 radical and the two Lithium atoms. It is seen that Δδ =0.680 a.u. of CC-pTZV and Δδ =1.366 a.u. of 6-311 (3df, 3pd), this latter has a twice greater Δδ, Figure 2, although the dipole moments CC-pTZV are 3.69% larger, (Table 1). The main chain (backbone of the molecule) for the CC-pTZV base set has a small negative charge displacement for the Carbon atoms from the Hydrogen atoms attached to them. Therefore, with positive charge the Hydrogen atoms connected to the Carbon of the central chain. For the set of bases 6-311**(3df, 3pd) the carbon atoms of the main chain are presented with very small distribution of negative charge, coming from the Hydrogen linked to these neutrals, Figure 2. At the other polar end for the base set 6-311**(3df, 3pd) the cyclic chain shows the characteristics as the Beryllium atom with strong charge displacement positive, these charges shift to the Carbon atoms attached to it, Figure 2. The cyclic chain with a strong negative charge, displaced from the Beryllium atom. The two carbon atoms bonded in double bonds, present a slight positive charge, with their neutral Hydrogen, Figure 2. The Selenium atom connected to two Carbon atoms of the cyclic chain presents a slight negative charge, originating from the Carbon atom connected to the main chain with a slight positive charge, and the other Carbon atom connected to the cyclic chain presents a neutral charge, Figure 2. The magnitude of the electric dipole moment || total obtained was p = 4.7936 Debye for 6-311**(3df, 3pd), (Table 1). Figures 3 & 4 represent the normalized infrared spectrum for the base set RHF / 6-311G ** (3df, 3pd) and CC-pVTZ for Absorbance and Transmittance. Figures 5 represent the normalized infrared spectrum for the base set RHF/6-311G** (3df, 3pd and CC-pVTZ for absorbance, making a comparison between the two sets of base. The infrared spectrum for Standard RHF/CC-pVTZ shows peaks in transmittance, at wavelengths 1,125.44cm-1, 1,940.70cm- 1, 2,094.82cm-1, 2,178.43cm-1, 2,613.99cm-1 and transmittance 433.399km/mol, 399.425km/mol, 361.825km/mol, 378.993km/ mol, 433.774km/mol, respectively, Figure 3 and Table 2. The infrared spectrum for Standard RHF/6-311G**(3df,3pd) shows peaks in transmittance, at wavelengths 1,114.83cm-1, 1,936.81cm- 1, 2,081.49cm-1, 2,163.23 cm-1, 2,595.24cm-1 and transmittance 434.556km/mol, 394.430 km/mol, 345.287 km/mol, 375.381 km/ mol, 409.232 km/mol, respectively, Figure 4 and Table 3. It presents “fingerprint” between the intervals (680cm-1 and 1,500cm-1) and (3,250cm-1 and 3,500cm-1), Figures 3-5.
Conclusion
Calculations obtained in the ab initio RHF method, on the set of bases used, indicate that the simulated molecule, C13H20BeLi2SeSi, is acceptable by quantum chemistry. Its structure has polarity at its ends, having the characteristic polar-apolar-polar. The 6-311G (3df, 3pd) set of basis exhibits the characteristic of the central chain, with a small density of negative charges, near the ends of the Carbons of this. In the CC-pVTZ base set, the charge density in relation to 6-311G (3df, 3pd) is 50% lower. It is characterized infrared spectrum of the molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi, for absorbance and transmittance, in Hartree method in the set of bases CC-pVTZ and 6-311G (3df, 3pd). The infrared spectrum for Standard RHF/ CC-pVTZ shows peaks in transmittance, at wavelengths 1,125.44cm- 1, 1,940.70cm-1, 2,094.82cm-1, 2,178.43cm-1, 2,613.99cm-1 and transmittance 433.399 km/mol, 399.425km/mol, 361.825km/ mol, 378.993km/mol, 433.774km/mol, respectively. The infrared spectrum for Standard RHF/6-311G**(3df,3pd) [7,30,60,71,72] shows peaks in transmittance, at wavelengths 1,114.83cm- 1, 1,936.81cm-1, 2,081.49cm-1, 2,163.23cm-1, 2,595.24cm-1 and transmittance 434.556km/mol, 394.430km/mol, 345.287km/ mol, 375.381km/mol, 409.232km/mol, respectively. It presents “fingerprint” between the intervals (680cm-1 and 1,500cm-1) and (3,250cm-1 and 3,500cm-1). The dipole moments CC-pTZV are 3.69% bigger than 6-311G (3df, 3pd). As the bio-inorganic molecule C13H20BeLi2SeSi is the basis for a new creation of a biomembrane, later calculations that challenge the current concepts of biomembrane should advance to such a purpose.
