Reducing Pollution Through Recycling Assorted Metals: A Path to Cleaner Air and Water
Pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time, and it affects both the air we breathe and the water we depend on. As industries grow and consumption increases, so does the need for raw materials, particularly metals. The extraction, production, and disposal of metals contribute significantly to pollution levels. However, there is a solution that can help mitigate this impact: metal recycling. By recycling assorted metals—such as aluminium, copper, steel, and brass—we can reduce pollution, conserve natural resources, and contribute to cleaner air and water. This article explores how recycling metals can be an effective strategy in the fight against pollution and outlines the benefits it provides to our environment.
How Metal Recycling Reduces Air Pollution
Mining and metal production are energy-intensive processes that emit large quantities of greenhouse gases and air pollutants. The extraction of metals from ores requires blasting, drilling, and smelting, which releases harmful substances like carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) into the atmosphere. These pollutants contribute to air quality issues such as smog, acid rain, and global warming.
Recycling metals, on the other hand, uses far less energy and produces significantly fewer emissions. For example, recycling aluminium requires only about 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminium from bauxite ore. This dramatic reduction in energy consumption translates into fewer emissions and a smaller carbon footprint. In fact, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that recycling aluminium alone can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 95%.
By recycling metals instead of producing them from raw materials, industries can lower their energy use and reduce the volume of pollutants released into the air. This not only helps combat climate change but also improves air quality, leading to healthier communities and a cleaner environment.
Conserving Water Resources Through Metal Recycling
Water pollution is another major concern associated with metal production. Mining operations often require large amounts of water to extract metals from ores, and this water can become contaminated with heavy metals, chemicals, and other pollutants. These contaminants can seep into nearby water sources, harming aquatic ecosystems and posing risks to human health.
In contrast, metal recycling significantly reduces water usage. Recycling metal doesn’t require the same extensive extraction and purification processes as mining, which means less water is needed. Furthermore, the water used in recycling facilities is often filtered and reused, minimizing the amount of contaminated water released into the environment.
Reducing the demand for new metals through recycling also means that fewer mining operations are necessary, leading to less water contamination overall. This helps preserve freshwater resources and protects the health of rivers, lakes, and oceans, contributing to a more sustainable and water-efficient future.
Conserving Natural Resources by Recycling Metals
Mining is a resource-intensive activity that depletes the earth’s natural resources. Extracting metals from the earth requires removing large amounts of rock and soil, which can lead to deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and destruction of habitats. The process of mining also requires substantial amounts of energy and water, further straining the planet’s limited resources.
Recycling metals allows us to conserve these natural resources. When we recycle metals like aluminium, copper, and steel, we’re reducing the need for new mining operations. This helps preserve the environment by keeping more of the earth’s raw materials in the ground, protecting ecosystems and wildlife habitats in the process.
Additionally, recycling metals helps reduce the demand for fossil fuels, as it takes far less energy to recycle metals than to extract and process new ones. By using recycled materials, industries can lower their reliance on nonrenewable energy sources, contributing to a more sustainable and resource-efficient economy.
Economic Benefits of Metal Recycling
In addition to its environmental benefits, metal recycling also offers significant economic advantages. The recycling industry creates jobs, from collection and sorting to processing and manufacturing. By supporting recycling initiatives, local communities benefit from job creation and economic growth.
Recycling metals also provides financial incentives for individuals and businesses. Many recycling centers pay for scrap metal, allowing people to earn money by recycling their old appliances, electronics, and other metal items. This financial return encourages more people to recycle, helping to increase recycling rates and reduce pollution even further.
How You Can Contribute to Reducing Pollution Through Metal Recycling
Everyone has a role to play in reducing pollution through metal recycling. Whether you’re a homeowner looking to dispose of old appliances or a business owner managing industrial waste, there are simple steps you can take to ensure that metals are recycled properly.
Tips for Recycling Metals:
Identify Recyclable Items: Common household and industrial items that can be recycled include aluminium cans, copper wiring, steel appliances, and brass fixtures.
Separate Your Metals: Many recycling centers require metals to be sorted by type (e.g., aluminium, copper, steel) before they can be processed.
Use Local Recycling Services: Find a local recycling facility that accepts scrap metal and drop off your materials for proper recycling.
Sell Scrap Metal: Many recycling centers offer payment for scrap metals, providing a financial incentive to recycle.
Encourage Businesses to Recycle: If you run a business, work with recycling services to manage metal waste responsibly and reduce your environmental impact.
By taking these steps, you can contribute to a cleaner planet and help reduce the pollution caused by metal production and disposal.
Conclusion
Recycling assorted metals is a simple yet powerful way to reduce pollution and promote a cleaner environment. By recycling metals instead of extracting them from raw materials, we can reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, conserve water, and protect natural resources. Metal recycling also plays a crucial role in preventing toxic runoff, reducing landfill waste, and supporting a circular economy.

1. Four new cheetah cubs born in Saudi Arabia after 40 years of extinction
“[T]he discovery of mummified cheetahs in caves […] which ranged in age from 4,000 to as recent as 120 years, proved that the animals […] once called [Saudi Arabia] home. The realisation kick-started the country’s Cheetah Conservation Program to bring back the cats to their historic Arabian range. […] Dr Mohammed Qurban, CEO of the NCW, said: […] “This motivates us to continue our efforts to restore and reintroduce cheetahs, guided by an integrated strategy designed in accordance with best international practices.””
2. In sub-Saharan Africa, ‘forgotten’ foods could boost climate resilience, nutrition
“[A study published in PNAS] examined “forgotten” crops that may help make sub-Saharan food systems more resilient, and more nutritious, as climate change makes it harder to grow [current staple crops.] [… The study identified 138 indigenous] food crops that were “relatively underresearched, underutilized, or underpromoted in an African context,” but which have the nutrient content and growing stability to support healthy diets and local economies in the region. […] In Eswatini, van Zonneveld and the World Vegetable Center are working with schools to introduce hardy, underutilized vegetables to their gardens, which have typically only grown beans and maize.”
3. Here's how $4 billion in government money is being spent to reduce climate pollution
“[New Orleans was awarded] nearly $50 million to help pay for installing solar on low to middle income homes [… and] plans to green up underserved areas with trees and build out its lackluster bike lane system to provide an alternative to cars. […] In Utah, $75 million will fund several measures from expanding electric vehicles to reducing methane emissions from oil and gas production. [… A] coalition of states led by North Carolina will look to store carbon in lands used for agriculture as well as natural places like wetlands, with more than $400 million. [… This funding is] “providing investments in communities, new jobs, cost savings for everyday Americans, improved air quality, … better health outcomes.””
4. From doom scrolling to hope scrolling: this week’s big Democratic vibe shift
“[Democrats] have been on an emotional rollercoaster for the past few weeks: from grim determination as Biden fought to hang on to his push for a second term, to outright exuberance after he stepped aside and Harris launched her campaign. […] In less than a week, the Harris campaign raised record-breaking sums and signed up more than 100,000 new volunteers[….] This honeymoon phase will end, said Democratic strategist Guy Cecil, warning the election will be a close race, despite this newfound exuberance in his party. [… But v]oters are saying they are excited to vote for Harris and not just against Trump. That’s new.”
5. Biodegradable luminescent polymers show promise for reducing electronic waste
“[A team of scientists discovered that a certain] chemical enables the recycling of [luminescent polymers] while maintaining high light-emitting functions. […] At the end of life, this new polymer can be degraded under either mild acidic conditions (near the pH of stomach acid) or relatively low heat treatment (> 410 F). The resulting materials can be isolated and remade into new materials for future applications. […] The researchers predict this new polymer can be applied to existing technologies, such as displays and medical imaging, and enable new applications […] such as cell phones and computer screens with continued testing.”
6. World’s Biggest Dam Removal Project to Open 420 Miles of Salmon Habitat this Fall
“Reconnecting the river will help salmon and steelhead populations survive a warming climate and [natural disasters….] In the long term, dam removal will significantly improve water quality in the Klamath. “Algae problems in the reservoirs behind the dams were so bad that the water was dangerous for contact […] and not drinkable,” says Fluvial Geomorphologist Brian Cluer. [… The project] will begin to reverse decades of habitat degradation, allow threatened salmon species to be resilient in the face of climate change, and restore tribal connections to their traditional food source.”
7. Biden-Harris Administration Awards $45.1 Million to Expand Mental Health and Substance Use Services Across the Lifespan
““Be it fostering wellness in young people, caring for the unhoused, facilitating treatment and more, this funding directly supports the needs of our neighbors,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. [The funding also supports] recovery and reentry services to adults in the criminal justice system who have a substance use disorder[… and clinics which] serve anyone who asks for help for mental health or substance use, regardless of their ability to pay.”
8. The World’s Rarest Crow Will Soon Fly Free on Maui
“[… In] the latest attempt to establish a wild crow population, biologists will investigate if this species can thrive on Maui, an island where it may have never lived before. Translocations outside of a species’ known historical range are rare in conservation work, but for a bird on the brink of extinction, it’s a necessary experiment: Scientists believe the crows will be safer from predators in a new locale—a main reason that past reintroduction attempts failed. […] As the release date approaches, the crows have already undergone extensive preparation for life in the wild. […] “We try to give them the respect that you would give if you were caring for someone’s elder.””
9. An optimist’s guide to the EV battery mining challenge
““Battery minerals have a tremendous benefit over oil, and that’s that you can reuse them.” [… T]he report’s authors found there’s evidence to suggest that [improvements in technology] and recycling have already helped limit demand for battery minerals in spite of this rapid growth — and that further improvements can reduce it even more. [… They] envision a scenario in which new mining for battery materials can basically stop by 2050, as battery recycling meets demand. In this fully realized circular battery economy, the world must extract a total of 125 million tons of battery minerals — a sum that, while hefty, is actually 17 times smaller than the oil currently harvested every year to fuel road transport.”
10. Peekaboo! A baby tree kangaroo debuts at the Bronx Zoo
“The tiny Matschie’s tree kangaroo […] was the third of its kind born at the Bronx Zoo since 2008. [… A] Bronx Zoo spokesperson said that the kangaroo's birth was significant for the network of zoos that aims to preserve genetic diversity among endangered animals. "It's a small population and because of that births are not very common," said Jessica Moody, curator of primates and small mammals at the Bronx Zoo[, …] adding that baby tree kangaroos are “possibly one of the cutest animals to have ever lived. They look like stuffed animals, it's amazing.””

How many years of your life have you spent hitting refresh on package-tracking websites? Does it make a material difference to your life whether this box leaves Chicago tonight, when you live absolutely nowhere near Chicago (people reading this from Chicago: please substitute for another distant city?) No, but we want to know what's going on with our shit. Maybe, just maybe, there will be an update, and we can imagine what life is like in the distant land of YUEN LONG INTERNATIONAL PACKAGE SORTING. I bet they have crazy ice cream flavours that we don't get here.
As you might expect, I buy a lot of parts for my hoopties. And, because those cars have been "out of print" for several decades, you have to get creative about where you get those parts. How did a crate full of Quadrajets end up in Vietnam? Not my concern, but as long as I can bumblefuck my way through a conversation roughly tantamount to "I give money, you give old machine parts," I'll get something in the mail that I can strap to my engine.
Will it actually be a Quadrajet? Probably not. Sometimes I accidentally bungle into a CIA dead drop. It's happened more than once that some creepy spies operating in another country send me a box full of top-secret microfiche instead of my car parts, which is always a pain in the ass because even after I throw it into the curbside recycling, I'm still stalked by federal assassins for a few weeks demanding to know where it is. Eventually, after dispatching enough of them using a combination of pure idiot's luck and living in a house stuffed to the gills with rusty and/or electrified garbage, I get to talk to a middle manager, who agrees to let me "off the hook," as it is. And then I still don't have my junk. Zero stars on eBay.
What is important is that these parts or microfiche or nuclear secrets, whatever they are, are sent with tracking numbers. Otherwise, I have nothing to ruthlessly push F5 on when I should be concentrating on something more important, like ordering more parts, or emailing foreign agents why my 318 poly heads haven't moved for a few hours. You better not have gotten captured and tortured to death again. This is why I paid for the insurance.

Money Ties (Jungkook Love Story || Pt.1)
Pt.2 ||
Your parents have worked hard to get to the top and have made sure to teach you everything you need to know to be successful in this business: from tough but lucrative financial decisions, down to the right ball gown for any given banquet. A promising and extravagant future awaits you- that is, if you agree to one teensy detail...
Son of Mr.Jeon Sr. and heir to June Company, Jeon Jungkook is an immature playboy with nothing to offer a woman but good looks and a crap ton of money, and he stands to inherit much MUCH more, so long as you both enter into the arranged marriage contract that was drawn up before the pair of you were even born.
You're more than willing to try, but you're not sure you'll be able to stand each other long enough to inherit a single penny...
Series Warnings: There will be smut in the near future and I will label those chapters as such. As I say before most of my pieces- I do not endorse any themes, ideas, or behaviors in this series. This is all purely fiction/fantasy! Feel free to inbox me suggestions/ideas/what you'd like to see in this series and I'll see what I can do! Enjoy <3
"How are you feeling? Have you got everything? Check your seat, make sure you didn't leave anything behind-" Your mom rambles, not letting you get a word in. Meanwhile, you're sandwiching your phone between your ear and shoulder as you struggle to get your bag down from the overhead compartment. "Yeah, mom- you know the way questions work is, you ask one and then let the other person answer." "Ugh, Sorry- I'm just so worried...and excited! I mean, we've only been dreaming about this day since-" "Before I was born. Yeah, I know," You sigh, finally letting your suitcase drop gently onto the floor of the plain and grabbing ahold of the handle to drag it out behind you. "Hey mom, I hate to interrupt you but is dad there? I wanna go over my itinerary while I'm here, I have like no time to myself on this schedule. I kinda wanted to do some sightseeing, being as how I'm almost never in Seoul-" "Oh, no I'm sorry honey. He had to rush off to the office but he told me to tell you that he's very proud of you and that he'll be there to get you when you come back." Your face falls flat and, since no one important is there to reprimand you for it, you roll your eyes and shake your head, "Alright." "Baby, you know he really is doing his best. He's been working nonstop to make sure this agreement comes to fruition and-" "Yeah, listen mom, I gotta go okay? I love you. I'll call you tonight to let you know how the meeting went, alright?" "Oh- okay. I love you!" "Love you too, mom." Without another word, you hang up the phone. You hate to be short with her, but today's supposed to be an important day leading up to...THE important day, and you really could've used more guidance on the matter. You could've...really used your dad today.
Oh well. No use in crying over spilled milk, right? You continue walking down the long terminal, a long line of people behind you in their own little worlds, having their own conversations, going on about their own lives; how interesting it would be to switch places with someone else...anyone else. Just for one day. You wonder if maybe your day would be a lot better then. You rifle through your bag with one hand while the other pulls your luggage along. "Aha," You say, pulling out your air pod case. You need to drown out any and all thoughts and distractions from the task at hand. Right now, it's just you, your anxiety about the meeting later, and "Rhiannon" by Fleetwod Mac.
When you finally get out of the terminal and into the waiting area, you give a sigh of relief; the plane ride had been long and suffocating, and now you're just glad to be breathing non-recycled air. It had been a long time since you'd flown into the Seoul airport, and it's much more extravagant than you remember; more ornate and, in the best way possible, hospitalesque. In the middle of your appreciation, you're shoved forward by someone behind you, causing your ear phones to fall out and everything. "What the fuck," You hiss, having been caught by complete surprise. You turn around and see a small crowd of people, all huddled in tight around someone, though you can't quite make the person's features out from behind the people. "Excuse you," You say loudly, hoping to get someone's attention, though you're not even sure who pushed you. "I said, excuse you!" You yell. Suddenly, everyone turns to look at you, and slowly, like parting the Red Sea down the middle, they divide to reveal the person in the midst of them.
"I'm sorry, I know my friends can get a little...rowdy," The person apologizes, though he has an annoyingly smug look on his face. He's tall, maybe 5'11" or so, with broad shoulders and a slim build (yet muscular, as you can see through his very tight turtle neck and slim fitting pants). His face is quite handsome, dark hair accentuating his features nicely. But you're still pissed off. "Well tell your 'friends' to please watch where the hell they're going. I almost fell over." "Hey I mean, no one told you to stand in the middle of one of the busiest airports in the world, staring at the ceiling like some catatonic zombie," He says, shrugging his shoulders. A few people from his group laugh in response, and he absolutely eats it up. "Excuse me?" You furrow your brows, incredulous to the arrogance in his tone. Are you missing something? You are the one who should be offended right now, right? "Alrighty, you're excused," He says before turning around. Again, the group adds in their little two cents in the form of 'oh's and laughter. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" You say, letting go of your suitcase and crossing you arms across your chest. The crowd goes dead silent, everyone darting their eyes at him. He turns around though this time, his expression is that of complete annoyance, "You're still here? Here, here's two hundred. Get yourself some new air pods or go kick rocks or whatever," He takes his wallet out of his pocket and reaches out to grab your hand. He turns it face up and slaps two bills into your palm, shooing you away immediately after. You can feel your blood practically boiling within you, and before you can really think about it, you're covering the five foot distance between you and slapping him cold on the left cheek, bills still in hand. "Don't spend it all in one place," You smirk before promptly picking up your suitcase and walking away in the direction of the front entrance. You feel sorry for any girl that might end up with that total loser.
You stare at yourself in the mirror of the hotel bathroom in the lobby. You'd spent hours getting ready; a fresh wax (leg and mustache... you've never been able to say no whenever the lady suggests it), new press-ons, fresh blowout, and a killer (yet modest) outfit. However, even with all that work, you still can't help but feel...completely ill-prepared. You bite you bottom lip, "I can do this. I can do this. I..." You quickly go to your purse on the sink counter in front of you and take out your phone, punching in your dad's number into the keypad. "Come on, come on. Pick up." It rings once, twice, three times, and then goes to voicemail. You try again, and then once more before tossing the phone aggressively back into your purse. "Dammit..." You lean forward onto the counter and let your face fall into your hands. Fuck the makeup. Fuck the blowout. You might just pass out right here and now. You notice your phone light up from inside your purse and scramble to get it; it's a text, though not from your dad. You open it and realize it's from Mr.Jeon Sr. 𝙼𝚛.𝙹𝚎𝚘𝚗: 𝚈/𝚗, 𝚠𝚎'𝚛𝚎 𝚜𝚘 𝚎𝚡𝚌𝚒𝚝𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚎𝚎𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚘𝚍𝚊𝚢; 𝚒𝚝'𝚜 𝚋𝚎𝚎𝚗 𝚜𝚘 𝚕𝚘𝚗𝚐! 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚌𝚊𝚛 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚋𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚗𝚎𝚡𝚝 𝚏𝚒𝚟𝚎 𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚞𝚝𝚎𝚜 𝚘𝚛 𝚜𝚘. 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚎𝚛𝚟𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚜 𝚞𝚗𝚍𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚗𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝙹𝚎𝚘𝚗.
"Shit," You hiss, looking back up at the mirror to make sure you didn't mess anything up. Luckily, you're just as put together as you were when you stepped out of your room. You check your messages once more, just to make sure your dad hasn't tried reaching you. Radio silence. "Fuck it," You sigh, grabbing your purse and typing out your response.
𝚈/𝙽: 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝚜𝚊𝚖𝚎 𝚐𝚘𝚎𝚜 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚖𝚎, 𝚂𝚒𝚛. 𝙸 𝚜𝚑𝚘𝚞𝚕𝚍 𝚋𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚛𝚎 𝚜𝚘𝚘𝚗. 𝚃𝚑𝚊𝚗𝚔 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚜𝚘 𝚖𝚞𝚌𝚑 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚜𝚎𝚗𝚍𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚊 𝚌𝚊𝚛 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚖𝚎.
You shove your phone into your purse and then walk out of the lobby, through the front entrance, and out to the sidewalk to wait for the car. Get your game face on, Y/n. It'll be over before you know it.
Your family has money; they've spent decades building together, both metaphorically and literally. They began working odd jobs before you were even born, scraping by with whatever money they could get, and slowly, began investing in different companies and start-ups that became very successful in a rather short amount of time. Then they began doing land development, which was how they came to know the Jeon's. They developed and prepared properties for the Jeon's to build their hotels and restaurants, which only worked to stabilize your family's economical status.
The Jeon's, however, have had money for upwards of three generations. While you're not sure how exactly their empire began, what you do know is that hotel and restaurant management has greatly increased the wealth they already had, and now all they need is to secure an heir; well, more like prepare the heir they already have, as their son, Jungkook, is the sole inheritor to the entire Jeon fortune. As they say, 'No pressure'.
You're meeting the Jeon family at one of their more successful restaurants, one that received three Michelin stars within the first three years of opening. You brought some gifts with you, which your mom so thoughtfully wrapped up for you and put in a pretty gift bag; she refused to let you embarrass her by bringing such expensive gifts in whatever random plastic Target bag. You take a moment to breathe deeply, shoving your dad, mom, the plane ride, and the asshole at the airport out of your mind. This is about your future. You're gonna do great.
The restaurant is full, but you somehow easily spot the Jeons at a table at the far end of the restaurant. "Do you have a reservation?" Asks the host at the podium. "Yes, I'm with the Jeons. Ms.L/n." "Ah yes, please follow me to your party." You follow him to the far end where you'd initially seen them, "Mr. and Mrs.Jeon, your guest has arrived." "Oh, Y/n!" Mrs.Jeon says cheerfully. You bow to them, "Mr. and Mrs.Jeon, it is truly a pleasure to see the both of you again after all this time." "Please, please- take a seat," Mr.Jeon says. The host pulls out your chair for you and waits for you to sit to be able to push it in for you. "Thank you," You say, giving him a small bow as well, to which he returns the gesture. "I've taken the liberty of ordering all of our best dishes for you to try. I hope you're hungry," Mrs.Jeon says, "Please, have some tea." "Oh thank you," You say, grabbing the teapot and carefully pouring some into their cups before pouring your own. "Should I pour into this one?" You ask, motioning to the empty place next to you. Mr.Jeon sighs, "No, that's okay. You'll have to excuse my son's tardiness. He should be here shortly." "Don't worry; I'm sure he has a good reason," You reassure. They exchange a peculiar glance at each other, though you don't think much of it.
"You know, we were worried that our agreement would fall through before this day would come." "Oh?" "Yes, we thought maybe there was a chance you'd refuse and we'd end up having to put up with someone we knew nothing about. With you, we know your family, we know you come from a good home with strong morals and family values similar to ours. It's not every day that parents find in-laws they get along with so well," Mr.Jeon says, sipping on his tea. "Well, you don't have to worry about that. I'm all in. This could be something that helps all of us and I'd do anything for my parents." You feel a tinge of sadness as you think of your dad. You haven't really seen him in the last three months, what with all his meetings and clients- you're hoping this will relieve some of the stress off his shoulders.
"That's what we love to hear," Mrs.Jeon chimes in, "We did bring the contract here with us for you to sign- whenever you have the time to read over it, of course." "That sounds great," You say cheerfully. This is going surprisingly well. You're not even sure what you were so nervous about initially. "There he is," Mr.Jeon calls out, looking past you at the door way, "There's Jungkook." You turn to look behind you, squinting your eyes to try to block out some of the glare so you can get a good look at your soon-to-be-fiancé. His silhouette is oddly familiar. Of course, you've met before but it's been at least fifteen or twenty years; he couldn't possibly look the same from then 'til now. No, you recognize him from something more recent...Where is he from? It isn't until he's a good seven feet away that you realize... SHIT.
"Sorry, I'm late everyone," He says, his familiar voice ringing in your ears like a pesky mosquito- that is, if a mosquito could singlehandedly make or break your entire future. "What took you so long, son?" Mrs.Jeon asked, her eyes darting at you momentarily. "Well, I'd just flown in from Paris when some crazy bitch attacked me at the airport. Broad daylight, completely unprovoked. Can you believe it? And then I had to go to Jimin's house for- for some thing and then we all got caught up at...a different place where some...other shit went down-" "Son, please mind your language. As you can see, Ms.L/n has been waiting to meet you." You slowly look over to face Jungkook, wishing you could morph into someone else- anyone else, for only a moment so as to not have to explain to this boys parents that you slapped their son in the face with two hundred dollars.
It's as though everything is happening in slow motion; torturously absorbing every ounce of energy in your body for such a simple action as turning your head. When you finally look up at him, you see his expression turn from slight irritation, to full blown anger. "YOU." The venom in his tone is palpable. You smile sheepishly, looking from his parents, to him, to his parents, and then back to him, "H-hey, you." This is gonna be the longest dinner of your life.

How do you reason if taylor doesnt speak up about palestine in the near future? Because there’s an air of finality in her silence about this cause. Especially now that we know an israeli supporter (capital one) sponsored her US leg of tour, even her eras tour seems dirty. She is so quick to release new versions of ttpd (31 versions as of now), after billie indirectly called her out.
(Sidebar— yes billie may be a hypocrite to talk about wasteful variants of albums to be produced one after another to supplement chart topping. BUT she wasn’t wrong and not only was taylor in a position to set an example of reducing waste in music industry because of her titan status, she used that position to punch down further on billie’s release week, despite it not affecting ttpd’s #1 rank. Talk about stepping on her gown and taking her crown. Olivia creating a distance from taylor since the royalties incident has left a bad taste in my mouth.)
Also, its not helpful that she dated and defended a racist last year, wrote an album about him.
small tangent before i get to the main point: i've said this before billie isn't a hypocrite for the vinyl thing. i think y'all really need to start looking into the actual articles instead of just reading headlines or hearing out-of-context quotes. the entire article with billie was about sustainability and how she works hard to make her variants out of 100% recycled material so they're less wasteful. she wasn't saying she was against all vinyl variants in general, she was saying she's against people who make a bunch of variants and not put the effort in to make sure it's not wasteful like she does. she was just asking people to be more sustainable with their variants.
now to the main point: i've already made peace a long time ago that she's not a good person. when she doubled down on dating a vocal bigot who says slurs for fun and gets off to black women getting brutalized and tried to make it look empowering for her, releasing a song about anyone who doesn't like bigotry as 'vipers dressed in empath's clothing', and just becoming the embodiment of true white feminism and being a huge hypocrite, fully abandoning her activism and regressing to the generic apolitical 'remember to register to vote' posts that she made before she promised to do more, all that plus she's also been openly ableist with parts of ttpd in terms of using problematic displays of mental hospitals/breakdowns and using them as an 'aesthetic', mocking/invalidating other peoples addiction/depression but then asking for empathy with her own mental issues, working with and befriending multiple abusers, zionists, etc all while remaining silent on a genocide that is dependent on gaining traction and attention so people can raise money to help (also releasing the eras tour movie in Israel actively during the genocide, then later selling it to disney+ which is on the boycott list) but making sure she's still the biggest star in the world, maintaining her platform but never using it for anything important or good, asking for more money for herself and fully showing that charts are more important to her than injustice or helping fellow humans, and showing all the causes she once said she cared about don't really matter to her.
i've fully accepted that she's not gonna talk about the genocide she can easily help. and if by a shocking turn of events she does, we'll all know it's because she was losing fans not because she actually cares (which i know isn't the point, it's not about her, and her speaking up will help the cause so much so she still should; but i'm speaking in terms of how it reflects on her and her intentions). none of this should be surprising, i've seen a lot of people say this might be their last straw with her and that's completely valid, but my last straw was used up about a year ago. none of her new behavior is causing frustration to me because i was already frustrated to begin with. i don't need to reason with it because i did a long time ago.

Yay I spent all evening on a sewing project that immediately was a huge fail and broke and I’ve never been more upset in my life I wasted time I could’ve been spending with my family working on something that now I can’t even show anyone because it failed I’m so sick and tired of trying so hard only for things I know how to do to work out so wrong it makes me feel like I never knew how to do these things in the first place. I hate everything I just feel like I’m not getting any better at anything I do I’ve been stagnant for years and in some cases I’ve degraded I feel like after 10 years my art isn’t anywhere near where I expected it to be and it’s just heartbreaking I feel like I’m just losing myself and theirs nothing I can do about it no matter what I do. I feel so ruined I don’t understand why this is happening to me.
well I’ll never have a disposable income so I really doubt I’ll ever make the art I truly want. Like I’ve found every cheap, recycle, accessible method of art supply curation and artistic creation and still theirs just something missing and it’s literally things I can’t afford that would make my art actually professional and I just don’t even understand how that’s the only issue. Like I can make anything out of anything and do so many cool skills I just don’t make things that look brand new and idk I feel like a lot of my creations are ugly it’s just annoying. Even when I buy like high quality fabric my issue is I don’t have a high quality sewing machine I have to hand sew things or just everything else is so much cheaper in comparison to the item I spent the most on that it just feels out of place and I’m just so lost on why people make making things look so easy but the reason their videos start off with a thousand dollar shopping trip of all brand new items it just magically looks a million times better. Theirs very few artist I follow or can find that create with low budgets and recycled materials I do but the few artist that do have a very established art style that incorporates that recycled look very well but makes it a brand new piece in a way it looks intentional. Like I can’t achieve perfect brand new, I can’t achieve artisan recycled, I’m stuck with just mediocre and only the stuff that has the least amount of work and the most amount of just purchased and put together things sells the best but the art I pour myself into just gets over looked or I just feel like it’s not really all that great to show off or like I don’t even want to keep it for myself because it doesn’t look the way it does in my head and I just feel bad throwing things away like I don’t have the money to just throw failed projects away so it’s just this big loop of being reminded I’ll always just be this poor artist and most of the people who buy art from me either feel bad for my situation or are utterly clueless about buying art and I was just reccomended by someone who feels bad for me so they assumed it would be a good choice and then they usually just ask for the most barren unlike me price ever and I put it out and just move along and they’re like hmm this is weird and doesn’t look like what you do because yeah even though I say I can draw anything that doesn’t mean I can promise you something in my style you asked for something you could tell by what I do that I don’t do that’s why it looks weird I tried but you like it enough to keep it just don’t really plan on getting art from me again because idk I’m not the most comissionable person for some reason despite feeling like I could make almost anything I’m asked. I’m just never asked…sadly it’s money related. My art just feels so stuck. Like I pride myself on what I’m capable of with what I have but it’s just alienating and depressing when I’m so over looked because my outcome isn’t brand new finished or perfectly artisan recycled. Too in the middle of those to look genuinely nice.
Do I even make any sense???
Xoxo- Switch.

Even if you were to believe the entire thing was real and this is a very loving relationship. Can you imagine the conversation they had AFTER. Anyone who wants to believe that this relationship is real cannot deny how incredibly toxic it seems. He hides her and the 'candid' moments together are so staged and strange . WHEN he is anywhere near her publicly, she seems to be following him around like a lost child, while he is either incognito or as far away as possible that people have to try and deduce fingers and toes in photos. Every move she makes dependant on him. And he won't be seen with her in anything career wise. If it's true that she was to be at the Comic con and he said No,then it makes sense why in one of the interviews he said how protective he is when it comes to Cap. This man has so many slips on how he feels about her I shudder to imagine, if it's real just how bad things are. He won't argue, he doesn't like being manipulated and obviously hates bad breath(I believe this was a dig at her and her smoking) He doesn't seem to even care about her financially. The way she's dressing and moving reveals that she pays for herself. The torn socks and recycled clothes are a big give away. It wouldn't matter, but the Man is a literal millionaire who pays for his friends and family with seemingly no problem. I think Jenny said that he would pay for her midnight Amazon finds of turtle neck tops(?)if I'm not wrong and how kind he was that it made her almost cry. Also, there are pics of him giving Minka money while they went grocery shopping. Even for the MiuMiu fashion event,he couldn't get her anything current. It can't be that expensive for him.
All these deliberate calculated moves and look how bad they are backfiring. How does your girl show up to support your movie but the highlight for you was you and your co-star who didn't seem too jazzed about it! AND THATS WHAT YOU POST.NOT THAT YOUR FOREVER LOVE WAS WITH YOU. I'm tempted to feel sorry for Alba, but i won't. The bare minimum that Chris does for her supposed career is what alot of people are missing. Esp those who believe she is his 'The One'.
Now rumors of her cheating are coming out and everyone is like 'she fumbled Captain America and the bag' She will be the one left holding the sh*t at the end of all this. No matter how 'real' or not this is. I'm very much team PR, but even if I were team real, I know for a fact that the moment he drops her, she will be buried so fast that we won't Remember she even existed. And his biggest fans will be the one to do it. They are banking on it. It will not surprise me , if he even reprises his Steve Rogers Cap even if it's just a cameo somewhere along the line for Marvel.
You summed up pretty well why this whole relationship is fake as hell. I would even say that the whole premiere thing was the bare minimum. He doesn't seem to have any type of love or even positive feelings for her. I, personally, wouldn't say the bad breath thing was specifically about her; we all know how obsessed he is with oral health, so I think he meant that just in general, but I get him; nobody likes bad breath.
I think I can imagine him going back to Marvel as Steve for a small cameo. I think that would be different than him going back as a main character, a protagonist.

going to start posting again maybe i just feel like ass. like why tf am i alive that shits not fair to other people bro. i heard mom complain abt gas prices spiking and if the us still gets most of its petroleum from where i think it does i have some ideas why and i kind of hope it gets worse. cant say that irl though cause it would suck for us but i think things should suck a bit more for us really. my dad makes good money but hes resigned to never retiring so im going to need to get a job after i finish college and that shit probably wont even be relevant to fuck all if i can get one to begin with and im probably not even gonna get beyond a bachelors degree ever and thats more than most people but it mightve been the worlds most expensive waste. i wish i didnt choose a college that sucks ass cause i was ill-informed and classist abt it at like 19. convenience is nice but im not sure it was worth it. although i think why i have fuckall irls is i just have a problem trusting people in general maybe. and idfk how to make the first move or have regular small talk or benefit people other than shoving money at em cause i never know what to say and i don't wanna make ppl drive me places. i can't drive fuuuuuuck. back to gas prices! none of that shit is important to anyone but my dumb ass but i hope the usa explodes forever or something goddamn I hate this shitass country in this hellhole society for real every day people are dying and for what. fuck. if they ever reinstate the draft you guys are welcome to come to my house so we can all break each others legs n shit. also i wish we didn't have to use gas in general but electric vehicles are like what. a tesla??? ew. and there's still a bunch of shitass minerals that kill people to get and that goes for like everything i wish we knew how to at least recycle this stuff. better. also me personally my parents live ~30min out from the major cities in either direction idfk why they did this gotta deal with a hoa and shit despite being damn near in the middle of fuckall. the Scary Woods is fun to dick around in i guess but i think if i described the size of my house + yard it would be obvious why i could probably use having a shittier life like goddamn i feel like it cause i get so scared of everything and hate myself abt it. cant even attempt to be a better person right cause everything feels like a chore and i already do bare minimum or less of those. so basically things could theoretically get a little better for me but i would really prioritize people who are getting killed and dying and shit. what if someone got the president and all members of congress in a hammer car explosion would that be scary or what [lying]

Hey, what's up y'all? It's your boy, not Yalla Papi, but the one and only LearnFromDiana. Today, I wanna talk about something near and dear to my heart: sustainable living.
Now, I know what you're thinking. "Oh great, another preachy environmentalist telling us what to do." But listen, sustainability isn't just some buzzword or fad. It's a way of life that can make a real difference in the world we live in.
So let me break it down for you. Sustainable living means making choices that are good for the planet, but also good for you. It's not just about recycling and using reusable bags (although those things are important too). It's about being mindful of the resources we consume and finding ways to reduce our impact on the environment.
Now, I know what you're thinking. "But Diana, sustainable living is so hard and expensive." And yeah, it can be a challenge at first. But it's not impossible. Here are some simple tips to get you started:
Cut down on meat and dairy: Animal agriculture is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. Try swapping out meat and dairy for plant-based alternatives a few times a week.
Shop second-hand: Fast fashion is a huge problem. Try shopping at thrift stores or consignment shops to give clothes a second life.
Reduce your waste: Bring your own containers to the grocery store, compost your food scraps, and avoid single-use plastics whenever possible.
Use public transportation: Cars are a major source of air pollution. Try taking public transportation, biking, or walking instead.
See? It's not that hard. And the best part? Sustainable living can actually save you money in the long run. So why not give it a shot?
Alright, that's all for now. Thanks for tuning in, and as always, keep on learning. Peace out!

ive never really gotten involved with cosplay discourse bc most of it is stupid but apparently sone people have been talking abt bought cosplays vs homemade cosplays and as a maker my head is full of thoughts. keep in mind that ive heard everything secondhand from my roommate (who also cosplays) bc i dont really use other social media (we have a joint cosplay insta i post on sometimes but they do everything else there).
ive been making my own cosplays since i was like 11 or 12, and im lucky enough to have had a mom who knows how to sew and could teach and help me those first few years. my dad is a nerd who was excited when i started cosplaying and going to cons with him and he's always has helped me with props. again, i know im lucky for this, and i had a pretty easy in to the hobby. this is all really just for context for my side here.
cosplay had a bit of a popularity boom over lockdown, because it was a way people could have fun at home, and that's great!! i love seeing people getting into things i love!! especially after being made fun of for it as a teen. but since then, ive noticed that the vast majority of new cosplayers are buying their costumes — and before i go further, i want to emphasize that i do not judge on an individual level whether or not youve made your cosplay, and nobody should. everybody's situation is different and it's important to remember the play part of cosplay. its supposed to be fun — and honestly that's really sad to me. what's even sadder is the amount of people saying things like 'everyone who makes their cosplays are rich' (i am absolutely fucking not, im currently unemployed bc im disabled) or 'if you make your cosplay youre not a cosplayer, youre a cosmaker' (this one doesnt even make sense. why are you alienating the creators of the entire hobby).
i get completely that its an intimidating thing to get into. making cosplays isnt just sewing. its also hair/wig styling, makeup artistry, foamwork, propmaking, etc... the list can really goes on bc it truly can be anything. resin casting, embroidery, beading... it all depends on what youre doing and how you want to do it. and im not saying it isnt a money- and timesink, because obviously you have to invest both of these things into it. but it doesnt have to be all fancy sewing machines and expensive fabrics!
did you know you can sometimes rent sewing machines from libraries? if theres a makerspace near you, thats a fantastic resource (they usually have things like sewing machines and 3d printers, and they usually host classes where you can learn to use their equipment)! youre even likely to find sewing machines at thrift stores! and speaking of thrift stores, bedsheets and curtains make great fabric sources, and if youre lucky you can find a piece you can alter or even just wear as part of the costume! and theres tons of tutorials and resources online for just about everything, even for specific costumes. there are also some good online fabric stores with much more variety and better prices than joanns, and you can look into if theres a place near you that sells recycled and donated remnants/unused fabrics, etc!
and like. idk. maybe thats all common knowledge among the specific group of cosplayers im talking about. theres nothing wrong with still choosing to buy a cosplay. i just ask: do you know how the people who made it are treated at the source you buy from? are they paid fairly? is it made out of cheap polyester and how comfortable is that for you?
i put — very literally, usually — blood sweat and tears into my costumes. im not saying everyone has to do this. im just. the making aspect is the heart of cosplay to me. its clearly not for everyone and thats fine. it just makes me sad to see so many people acting like its some elitist or inaccessible thing when its not
#genuinely. i miss the days when peoples first cosplays were 'bad'#bc they just started out and did things for the first time. its beautiful to me#anyway. yes i typed this up while sitting at my sewing machine. half-sewn cosplay piece on my lap. my head got too full while working on it#cosplay#slowmotalks

METAL ROOFING PROS AND CONS
This is part one, of a two part series regarding Metal Roofing. With the world's weather being stranger than ever (or so it seems), we thought we would give some insights, both good and bad, into Metal Roofing. We will begin with the PROS!
PROS FOR METAL ROOFING
Metal roofing is an excellent option for most homes. Today, there are tons of options available to fit in with the design of any home, and they’re designed to be longer-lasting and more durable than other types of roofing. Some of the biggest pros to having a metal roof include the following:
LONGER LASTING
A Houston shingle roof is only going to last somewhere between 12 to 20 years, depending on the quality of materials and installation. A metal roof, however, can last between 40 to 70 years, depending on the type of metal used and the installation. Homeowners who want to save money by not having to repair or replace their roofs as frequently may consider a metal roof. They won’t have to worry about any repairs or replacements for quite a while.
FAR MORE DURABLE
The durability of roofing is crucial, especially in cities like Galveston, TX, where severe storms and hurricanes are possible. Metal roofs can sustain higher winds, up to 140 miles per hour, when they’re installed properly and can be resistant to impact, which certainly occur. It is still crucial to inspect them occasionally of course, as to make sure everything is holding up properly, but the roof won’t corrode or crack, making it an excellent option when durability is required.
SAFER THAN OTHER MATERIALS
Wildfires and lightning strikes can happen at any time as well. When they do, shingle roofing can ignite from small sparks, leading to a house fire. Metal roofing, however, is safer. It’s not going to spark or ignite into flames, so it can help protect the home further from significant damage.
MORE ENERGY-EFFICIENT
Take homeowners in Bunker Hill Village, TX, for example. They know just how hot the area can get. Metal roofs are designed to help reflect the UV and infrared lights from the sun, keeping the entire roof cooler no matter how hot it is outside. This can result in 10 to 25% lower cooling costs, saving homeowners a significant amount of money in the long run.
BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Metal roofs, depending on what options are chosen, can be made from recycled materials. They’re also completely recyclable when they’re replaced, unlike shingle roofs that can’t be recycled at all. Plus, since they last longer, there are fewer wasted materials used during the installation or repair of metal roofs, adding to the benefits for the environment.
Our next post will cover the CONS of Metal Roofs. Be sure to check back, they are interesting.

ghost anon here - thank you again for the reassurance, i appreciate it. writing in again because i've got a crow tengu friend who's moving to an entirely new place and theyve been crazy stressed out about it - maybe a fellow reporter could weigh in about changing surroundings?
"Ayayaya, a new place hm? That's always a tricky thing, whether you planned it or not- at least with me, I know I've had a few times where I've gotten my cove torched and had to…rebrand as it were, aha~" "I guess it comes down to how you feel about old and new stuff. Some need to cling to the time you have, some feel like it's some…doomsday clock- some throw themselves into the new, or some feel like it's invasive. It's hard to determine whether you're ready or what works. Whatever it is, I want you to know that whatever you feel- even if it's a contradictory whirlwind, is okay."
"Depending on how convenient it is- I think what would be helpful is to find homes away from your house. Whether that's near your future place, or near a workspace or somewhere else you frequent- try finding places that make you feel cozy and comfortable. Bonus points if they have flexible hours or they're public services that you don't have to spend money with."
"You have a nice tea place nearby? Try that item you always think about but never get- even if it's not that great, opening yourself up to change on your own terms can be helpful. Get comfortable, and ease yourself into experimentation and investigation! "
"I sometimes think back to an old case I had with the doll on Nameless Hill. Where I offered her a soapbox about her whole 'doll liberation' thing. The results were as varied as they were catastrophic. Humans were devastated and tried to get their old dolls back, even if they got poisoned, some kids felt scared to let things go because they didn’t want to hurt them or get hurt if they became tsukumogami, some relived nice times, some painful scars… I got into a bunch of trouble up top for it. And Miss Melancholy wasn't happy because both doll and human felt chained to each other…
But oddly enough, the one that fixed the issue was the Misfortune Goddess. She wanted to try 'update' the old Nagashi festival, since the yamawaro were getting frustrated that dolls kept stockpiling- which, yeah- if I was a doll I'd be sad about if I got chucked in a river. So…Hina suggested 'recycling' that misfortune into fortune, transferring the memories and care you felt to another child- who would make something special with that doll, to so on and so forth. Thanking it for the time and company that it occupied, allowing a civil dismissal, and not feeling all gloomy and weighty.
…Miss Melancholy hated it at first. She thought it was just 'shoving the problem onto someone else- and why am I seen as a problem anyway-' but…seeing a girl get an older doll from an elder, seeing the two of them stitch new clothes for her and repaint her faded eyes…I never knew dolls could cry but…yeah. And writing that article with Kagiyama's assistance…yes, it truly was one of my prouder moments as a journalist. …It really was, and I yearn for another masterpiece like that…ah-"
"I'm getting off track here, but I mean that everyone has their own thoughts, feelings and journey about change- and it's going to take some time, even if you know the 'perfect' way to handle it. Be patient with yourself, that's the one thing you'll always be travelling with- ahaha~ But being able to find little gaps of happiness, a fantastical scoop anywhere you go- even if it's a lone autumn leaf on the road- you'll find many more homes to report to!"
#aya touhou#aya shameimaru#moving#touhoutivations#mod yuyu#ask#//thank you so much for sending another ask and being so patient with me!#//i see there's another tengu ask in the askbox so I'll save hatate for the next one :3c#touhou positivity#//i'm going through a move myself so I wanted to try my best with this one ahaha
