The coalition-building started a dozen years ago: conservationists, ranchers and outdoor recreationists, from hunters and snowmobilers to bikers and hikers. They all had different preferences for public lands in Colorado, but they thought they could work together to preserve more of it from extraction.

If they could hammer out a plan, U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet told them, he’d introduce it as a bill. In September, he and Colorado’s other U.S. senator, John Hickenlooper, did just that. 

The Gunnison Outdoor Resources Protection Act, or GORP is one of the biggest public lands bills to come out of the state in over a decade. As the name hints, outdoor recreation is at the core of the ambitious protections the legislation proposes, a sign of how supporters think adventure sports could be key to winning votes for new public land protections in a “drill, baby, drill” environment. 

If the bill comes up for a vote after Jan. 20, it would need buy-in from a Republican-controlled Congress and President Donald Trump. But people across the political spectrum hunt, fish, hike, bike and camp.

“In Colorado, outdoor recreation is a core part of our culture and critical for local economies,” Bennet said in an email. “The broad support from public lands user groups—including from summer and winter motorized recreation, conservation, mountain bikers, whitewater recreation, ranchers, water users, rock climbers, and hunters and anglers—underscores that importance.”

The GORP Act is aimed at conservation and management practices in over 730,000 acres of public lands in and around Gunnison County, which is south of Aspen. The bill would protect huge parcels of Colorado’s high country from mining and drilling while preserving access for all existing recreation, like boating, mountain biking and off-roading. It would preserve land for planned future trails. 

Community support, including from outdoor lovers, convinced the Biden administration in April to remove more than 220,000 acres in Colorado’s Thompson Divide—near the land the GORP Act would protect—from areas permitted for new mining, mineral and geothermal leases. Two other public-lands bills proposed by Bennet in recent years, the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Act and legislation to establish the Dolores River National Conservation Area, grew out of similar coalitions.

ok so i think actually the thing that offends me most about the DLC story/ending is that ......this doesn't give us any new information? it doesn't give us new context or motivation or anything.

you, player character, set out in the base game to conquer the lands between and become the new elden lord. to this end, you fight and extinguish other potential elden lords.

like there are 8 "elden lord" endings already, and 2 "alternate" endings where you a) choose to end all life forever with the frenzied flame or b) choose to leave the planet with ranni. the thing is, the "alternate endings" are NIGH UNIVERSALLY considered "better" or at least the "more complete" endings because they give us an option, a narrative that transcends the cycle of gods and elden lords.

making miquella/radahn yet another cog in the cycle of gods and elden lords gives us FUCKING NOTHING that we don't already have.

It's like, we know the system is corrupt and pointless and the concept of "moral good" is a lie and the concept of "moral bad" is bottomless. So why are we upholding the system. Why not burn it down or abandon it? Why are we returning to the idea that the only way to affect change is within this pointless, corrupt system. Why are we fighting yet another wannabe elden lord when we've established that elden lords are fucking peons and their gods are sock puppets to a formless, ambivalent Other.

We solved this fuckin riddle already!!! It was the giant amoeba what lived in mommy god's brain! How do we find this out and take miquella seriously! He's like fourteen steps behind!

Tldr miquella should have given us a different way of ordering the world that is separate from the established order. I think he should have advocated for the destruction of gods in its entirety. I think he should have been baiting you to kill all his siblings, his mother and father, the amoeba what lives in their brain, and then at the end of it, been like, good, now you kill me. I am the last piece of filth out of the room. Choose my ending and at last the world can be clean. That's ruthlessness. That's the greater good. That's the kindness of a god.

Tried replicating the manga style for this piece but I don’t know if it really comes through that much… anyway this is Rhodochrosite based on a picture I found on Pinterest! I imagine that they’re pretty cheerful and all of that but I don’t really have a story planned out for them! Or even their job. I just like creating lotl ocs for their designs haha they usually aren’t super well thought out

New job means the brain's been a' churning with code lately. Putting some cycles towards @renegadeguild this month-- signature order spine lines are (languishing) in review (as Draft) and I threw together a typeset assembly tool in hopes of finally (collaboratively) tackling the idea of a Renegade cookbook.

I'm half asleep and running basically entirely on hyperfixation fumes so this thought process might be literally nothing but I'm thinking about how we as the viewer don't get to start making decisions in the Markiplier Cinematic Universe Canon until after the DA's death in WKM. We experience the entire series through their point of view and it's presumed we continue to inhabit their character throughout the canon (at least through date and heist, I'm ignoring space for my purposes bc my grasp on how that fits into the story is fuzzy at best on a good day lmao) but it isn't until after the events of wkm have played out that we start making decisions on their behalf

But anyways something something at the end of wkm they die at the hands of Wil, and they give up their body to Damien and Celine, and their story to Mark, and their autonomy to the viewer. Someone who isn't eepy as hell turn this into a more coherent line of thought for me
