MBAV Villain Posters V: Blue Moon
Another week, another poster. This time, we've got 'part animal' werewolf Ethan, with a bonus 'party animal' Rory. Controversially, perhaps, I didn't go with David for this one... but let's be honest— he's just a nice guy & it's wolf Ethan that actually ends up being the threat.

honey: “y’want some honey in your tea?”
danny: “sure, thanks.”
[ a clanking sounds of what must be a spoon is heard in the background of the recording ]
honey: “anytime, sweets.”
danny: “wait, i’ve seen this before.”
honey: “huh?”
danny: “this company. isn’t that — wait that’s your last name ain’t it?”
honey: “yeah, my pa’s a bee keeper. ma jars the honey with some top secret ingredient that’s got the town buzzin’. whole family business.”
danny: “ah, no wonder you got that nickname.”
honey: “yep, since the womb.”
danny: “interestin’. did benny know that when he met ya?”
honey: “hm…not that i know of. might of. if he didn’t, m’sure johnny must of told him.”
danny: “how’d you meet benny then?”
honey: “how’d i meet benny?”
danny: “yeah.”
honey: “well…you know, i was just mindin’ my own business. working a regular school day at the elementary school on phipps. i was teaching the third grade at the time and johnny’s girls just so happened to be in my class. the main office sent me a note in the middle of the day informing me that the girls would be picked up by their uncle benny. i didn’t think too much of it at the time, hey it wasn’t unusual for kids to be picked up by extended family members, y’know? but i guess i — i had this vision of what he’d be like. fucked up i know, but ya see, i knew johnny. not in the way one would expect. [ honey laughs ] johnny was — well he was mr. davis to me, respectfully so, just like any parent would be to one of my students. but he was also the mr. davis i knew from mass at st. caron’s on the corner of rose and dawn. he’d be walkin’ around in a suit and tie, the whole get up, solemn as he ushered pew to pew with the collections basket for the poor and during communion on sundays 12pm sharp.
danny: “interesting. so i suspect you saw johnny rather often then?”
honey: “oh yeah, every week. went with my ma and pa all the time and like clock work he was there. such a clean cut dignified family man. so it was no surprise for me to be taken aback by benny’s appearance when he pulled up at the school yard.”
danny: “did he bring his bike?”
honey: “hell no! had johnny’s car. ‘twas a real trip with his colors on and a cigarette propped between those pillowly lips of his.”
danny: [ laughs ] “i can imagine. when was this exactly?”
honey: “oh it had to be close to the end of june, right before the start of the summer of ‘65. school was just about ending. had a week left or so. oh yeah — yeah, i remember cause it was real hot out too — sweltering heat, like that sticky kind that can only be equated to bein’ stuck in a classroom with a half broken fan. aw it was the worst. i had on this baby pink tank of sorts with thick straps under this overall dress i decked out a while back. it was real cute. had all these flowers and things i embroidered on it.
danny: “right, the embroidery. heard a thing or two about bedazzled patches on the vandal jackets.”
honey: “‘course you did. the skill got me going with the boys. when sonny started riding with ‘em he let me bejewel the fringes of his jacket real pretty. always a good sport. but anyways — yeah so i had this cute little get up on and my hair was all up and out of my face, real messy for the 60s. kinda stuck out like a sore thumb at school, but what shits did i give?
danny: “none?”
honey: “damn right. so yeah, it was kind of funny when benny came strolling up to me, weaving through all the parents like a puzzle piece that didn’t quite fit one bit.”
danny: “what were your first impressions of him?”
honey: “i was impressed to say the least. only had my reservations for what — half a minute? yeah, i’d say a good thirty seconds before i was smiling up at him.”
danny: “did he scare you? scare any of the parents, other teachers?”
honey: “i wasn’t scared of him no…as for the others, sure. mrs. rubin was all this and that and the other thing ‘bout him after that, especially when it got more serious and he was waitin’ round the school. she didn’t appreciate the loitering, but he was harmless, as harmless as benny could be. though, i was more refreshed really to see somebody so interesting….so different from everybody else. it made me feel seen, y’know?”
danny: “so what happened next? when he got to you?”
honey: “he’s standin’ in front of me and i’m bein’ a good egg with both girls at my sides, small fingers wrapped around each hand, and i go ‘hi, you must be uncle benny. i’m miss. honey.’ and he takes a good minute to give me a once over, like introducing myself was the craziest thing i could of done. then that thick smokey voice of his went “honey, huh?” and my tummy rumbled up so much so i was sure the butterflies i stitched ripped right off and flew about my dress. [ honey laughs again ] i was kind of just like ‘yep, that’s me’ or whateva, and god i was so sure i fucked it all up.”
danny: “how come?”
honey: “anyone that knows benny knows he’s not a man of many words by any means, so at the time i took his silence as a sign of unimpression. i mean if you took a look at us two — and i mean a quick glance or somethin’, we definitely seemed like an odd pair. but if you really looked rather closely, takin’ the time to absorb every detail, i’d definitely say we were far more similar past the common eye. but, i’ll go into that later. [ honey pauses for a moment ] sorry did i answer the question?”
danny: “you did, you did.”
honey: “good, good….so where was i?”
danny: “you were talkin’ about introducing yourself to benny and him being unimpressed.”
honey: “right, so one of johnny’s girl starts gettin’ all antsy. wants to go. has herself practically all over benny in a beg. her sister — no. her sister doesn’t wanna. the little thing has her hand practically chain locked to mine. so i did what any teacher would do and sweet talked her into going.”
danny: “how’d you manage that?”
honey: “i reminded her that her pa was a good man. that his interests were just as important as her own. that was all it took really.”
danny: “did you still think that later on? still do? after everything?
honey: [ honey sighs and puts out a cigarette she’d been smoking throughout the session ] “i did and i still do. i know some people will say that johnny was no good, that his club only created chaos. really though, the johnny i knew was trying to keep the peace as my benny well — wasn’t. one wrong look in my direction and my man was jumping the fool in seconds flat. and if they got a hand on me, oh they’d have to have a death wish upon ‘em. benny would not stand for that. he’d make their life a livin’ hell for as long as they lived. johnny — no johnny wasn’t like that unless it was real bad. unless someone got real hurt, then he’d fight back.”
danny: “like the bar fire?”
honey: “exactly like the bar fire. sure, a part of me felt bad for the owner. that his establishment just went up in flames like that. but the other part of me was glad those fuckers couldn’t step foot in such a place no more. and on top of i was rather pissed off — still am — by the fact that the owner just let my benny get attacked like that. did nothing to stop it. boils my blood just thinking about it. just thinking about my sweet benny minding his business and gettin’ swarmed for just wearin’ his colors. colors that wouldn’t come off of him once i got my artsy hands on it. he was absolutely obsessin’ with the patches i made. especially the one that said “honey’s hubby” with a big ol’ heart. made my cheeks burn real bad when he’d kiss it before tossing it right back on.”
danny: “i remember seeing that.”
honey: “you do?!”
danny: “yeah, the times i rode with the guys. i caught ‘em doing it here and there. especially when he was ‘bout to mount his bike before a ride. figured it was some sort of good luck charm before i really took a good look at what the patch said. then i realized it was you.”
honey: “danny?”
danny: “what?”
honey: “you gotta stop or i’m gonna be gushin’ the whole rest of this interview without giving yuh the real stuff.”
danny: “alright, alright [ lyon laughs ] back to business. so, what happened after you got johnny’s girl to go with benny? when’d you see him again?”
honey: “funnily enough, ‘twas the very next day. saw him first in the mornin’ y’know at drop off. i figured he gave a ride to the girls again or somethin’ — but no. it was betty who did. she came right up to me that morning to say hello. the hell was i thinkin’? i mean benny had his whole bike on him. no shot in hell he’d bring the girls on it.”
danny: “sure.” [ sarcasm is apparent in lyon’s words ]
honey: “danny no! [ honey laughs ] benny was wild but not that wild. he’d never let anything happen to those girls.”
danny: “i know, i know. only jokin’. i’m assumin’ that’s what drew you to him though?”
honey: “it was definitely a solid factor.”
danny: “understandable. did you go talk to him, at drop off?”
honey: “no, no. I didn’t think too much of it at the time and i couldn’t go shoot the breeze with him anyways. the lot was packed with all these little ones. i had to roll call mine. it wasn’t until after lunch hour during recess that i did.”
danny: “he was still there then? never left?”
honey: “as far as i know, no. had a whole garden of cigarette buds circling his feet like he’d been there for hours.”
danny: “what’d you say when you approached him?”
honey: “said something about the girls not getting out for another few hours and then asked him if he was stalkin’ me off the bat. oh — he offered me a cigarette too, and i took it.”
danny: “ripped the bandage right off i see. how’d he take that?”
honey: “seemed amusin’ to him. he made one of those faces that had all his features turnin’ up real pretty. can never forget that. flat out told me he wasn’t which i found strangely adorable. then — i don’t really know how it happened, but he was changing the subject completely. y’know when you’re having a conversation and ya kind of just naturally switch topics easily, but it’s done so smoothy, like the segue isn’t rough or whatever?”
danny: “yeah, i know what y’mean. the previous topic is wedged in there somehow subtly, but it makes sense why you got there.”
honey: “exactly. but, benny. no — when benny was in the midst of a conversation and started going on about something else there was no ease there. yet, you’d be fooled to think so. that’s how he got us out of most arguments honestly. one minute i wouldn’t be too happy with him about somethin’. probably somethin’ stupid anyways. if not stupid, than definitely about him ridin’ with an injury. always got me nervous. but then of course the next he’d have me wrapped up in his embrace as if five minutes prior hadn’t happened. here, for instance though, i guess the transition kind of made sense? i mean i was goin’ on about my co-worker freaking out about him just parking ship near campus, blabbing about and he’s asking about what time i get out, and if i wanna go on a ride. now, i’m dumbfounded by this. cause what the hell does he want to do with me, y’know?”
danny: “so what did ya do? did ya go with him?”
honey: “what’a ya think, daniel?”
[ an unknown interruption cuts the session here, but lyon obtains all the information from honey he needs — for now, that is ;) ]
[ the tape ends ]

Maybe a ben POV one? where bens off on a movie shoot and misses you and wants to fly you out to him but he’s worried it’s too much of a “romantic gesture” like in movies so he doesn’t want to weird you out but then on the phone you say how much you miss him too so he gathers the nerve to ask you and you’re like duh ofc I’ll come you dork (im envisioning this still kinda early in the qpr maybe right after platonically or smth)
Thank you so much babe!!
This is the second of the blurbs for my Platonically themed event! This one follows directly on from the one I posted yesterday so maybe read it first.
Words: 1,759
Warnings: just two idiots being dummies. Minor references to sex and probably some swearing but that's about it.
Reflecting on the situation, Ben had come to the conclusion that it was the perfect time to be in Greece. The run of beautiful weather they’d had over the course of the last month must have set some sort of record, he thought. Every day was blue skies, white fluffy clouds, and the sort of heat that was comfortable and not overly sticky. It made working a dream, especially when half the film seemed to take place on the beach. The sand was warm under his feet and the water clear and cool. They didn’t have much down time since the studio was pushing for it to be finished ASAP so they could release it at the optimal time, but the few days off they did get, Ben spent either fishing with some of the crew or else exploring the picturesque town they were in. There was just one downside. You weren’t with him.
Whenever the thought crossed his mind, whenever he really started to miss you, he’d remind himself that he loved his job, loved that it took him to exciting and beautiful places. And then he’d send you a quick message to check how everything was back home. He called too, mostly in the evenings after he got back to his hotel room. But the deeper into the project he got the more night shoots there were and the later he got back to his room. What brief conversations you had were good but not quite the same as if you’d been there with him. Of course, he’d try to remind himself that it wasn’t like he’d never been away from you before. But those times had all been before you got together, and the changed nature of the relationship made him feel your absence more. He never said that to you though. Mostly, when you could talk, Ben would ask how you were and talk about the exciting things he saw. He’d tell you about the beaches or the trinket shops and say how much you’d like them but he’d never tell you exactly how badly he wished you were with him. He didn’t want you to take it the wrong way and he didn’t trust himself to explain it properly. Whenever he tried to verbalise it (quietly, to his reflection or the dark hotel room he was staying in) he worried it came out too...well, romantic.
The truth was, he’d always been attached to you, since very early on in your relationship. You just got him. His sense of humour and his personality and the way he thought. It took him no time at all to start referring to you as one of his best friends and it was a title you’d held for years. But then he’d realised the way he liked you wasn’t strictly platonic, and it made him feel weird around you. More uncertain than he was used to. He found it hard to describe the relief he’d felt when you agreed to think about his QPR idea or how, when you’d accepted, it had alleviated the uncertainty and doubts that had been plaguing him. To you it would probably sound sappy and sentimental and tat all what you wanted to hear from him. Of course the QPR was really just an extension of your friendship. More or less the same, just a few new ways to show affection like kissing and getting you off (both things Ben greatly enjoyed), and a few new words that made it specific to the two of you. And maybe a new future too, depending on how things went. But again, while he might think those sorts of thoughts, he wouldn’t know how to begin saying any of them to you. Because he was starting to really want that future with you, and saying so might make it impossible to get there.
So Ben allowed himself to miss you quietly. Occasionally an idea of inviting you to join him would pop into his head. But he always let the thought go as quickly as it came. The weeks ticked by like that. Texting when you could between scenes and less and less frequent calls at night, which left Ben’s head swimming with lots of unsaid things. Progress was made on the movie too, most of the beach scenes wrapped and everyone moving to other parts of the script. Until everything came to a screeching halt. Ben wasn’t entirely sure what the problem was – something to do with scheduling conflicts or maybe special equipment that hadn’t arrived on time. All he was told was that things would be back up and running soon but it might take an extra few weeks to complete the project. He didn’t mind so much, it gave him a bit of extra free time after all, but it also meant he wouldn’t get to see you again for a while.
The possibility of flying you out to Greece to join him had been rattling around his brain since his third week on set. You could spend a couple of weeks, maybe a month, together. He could take you to that restaurant he’d sent you photos of and show you the handmade stationery shop he’d stumbled across that he knew you’d have fun exploring. And then there was the rest of the town, thin streets to get lost in together and beautiful views to look out over. Maybe you’d like to walk along the beach with him and collect seashells or rent a little dingy to take out on the waves. Once or twice he’d come close to actually asking you to join him but he always talked himself out of it, sure it would be crossing a line for you. Missing you was one thing but offering to buy you a plane ticket and whisk you off on a getaway to a gorgeous Greek island was surely too romantic. But the news of the delay made him consider it again.
That night he called you, smiling as soon as he heard your voice. At first the call was like any other. He listened to you talk about what had been going on since he last had a chance to call, getting caught up on your mutual friends and your work and whatever else came to mind. “But what about you?” you finally said, “You must be pretty busy since I haven’t had a call from you in a little while.” “Well I was busy except not so much right now,” “Oh?” “There’s some sort of delay, I don’t the details. But it looks like I’ll be here for another few weeks at least.” “Oh.” Ben was a little surprised by how disappointed you sounded. “I really miss you,” “I miss you too,” his voice got softer as he said it, “a lot.” “I really wish I could see you,” “Well,” he said sheepishly, hoping he wasn’t reading things wrong, “how would you feel about coming out here then? I can get you a plane ticket if you want.” “No shit! You can do that? You won’t like, get in trouble or anything?” Ben laughed, not quite understanding, “What are you talking about?” “I don’t know man, I’m not an actor. I just figured it’d be like a partner free zone. Like they wouldn’t want you getting distracted or whatever.” “You fucking dork,” his laughter threatened to obscure the words but he managed to make himself heard, “That’s not how it is at all. You being here wouldn’t be a problem, as long as I’m on set when they need me. Plus it looks like we’re about to have a whole lot of downtime anyway. So does that mean you wanna come?” “Ummm let me think abo- of course Ben!” “Well if I’d known you’d react like this I would have asked sooner,” The laughter had faded, leaving a grin on his face, though the embarrassment at his hesitancy was creeping up too. “Wish you had’ve. Why didn’t you?” “I just didn’t want you to take it the wrong way,” “And what way would that be?” “A romantic way? I don’t know! It’s just the sort of thing that’d happen in a romantic movie or whatever and I didn’t want to come across like that. It’s Greece man, it’s kind of a romantic place. Maybe not like Paris but it’s up there. Don’t laugh,” he groaned, “I’m just saying, white sands and clear seas and lots of pretty flowers in bloom, it’s definitely got romantic vibes.” “It didn’t even cross my mind that it might be that sort of thing. No offence to Greece, I’m sure it’s lovely.” Ben let himself chuckle at his idiocy, “I guess cause I’ve like, y’know, got feelings for you or whatever I saw the romantic side and assumed you would too. Feel silly for not just asking you but I’m glad we have that sorted now.” “I think it’s sweet, Ben. I love that you were conscious of how it might be perceived and I understand you didn’t want to hurt me. But yeah, dude, please get me that ticket, I miss you a stupid amount.” “Alright, I’m on it. When do you want to leave?”
Two days later and Ben was content, sitting and staring out at the waves on a quiet beach as you rubbed sunscreen into his back. He’d greeted you at the airport, feeling ridiculously excited to see you, squeezing you in a tight hug (which you later suggested had cracked one of your ribs). “Okay, all done, now let me do your front,” you shuffled around Ben on your knees, throwing a leg over his lap as he leaned back on his palms. “You’re such a perv,” Ben chuckled, subtly adjusting his posture to push his chest further towards you, “I bet you only suggested sunscreen so you could feel my boobs.” “Oh you caught me,” you squirted some more of the cream directly onto his chest, beginning to rub it in, “Definitely nothing to do with sun safety.” “No I get it, you don’t need to lie to me. You missed my pecks. It’s totally natural. But let me know when you’re done so I can show you the same courtesy.” "Think we might save that till we get back to the hotel, Benny,” Ben laughed at your exasperated expression, raising one arm to pull you toward him for a kiss, barely noticing the cool of the cream still on your palm as you cupped his cheek and kissed him back.

‘Voice Message’
Ben Hardy x Reader (POV)
Summary: You’ve been missing your boyfriend Ben’s touch for a while now, causing you to be longing to release the tension held up your body, by leaving him a record of that to his phone.
Warnings: smut, dirty talk, hear me cum for you; exhibitionism?
Words: 933
Please enjoy your time in the scenario of (self) monologue:
Beep.
“Still not picking up.” I put the phone to the corner of the bathtub.
“And he hasn’t the last 3 times I called…” I ironically nodded my head.
“I think I can treat myself to a nice bath.” I turned on the hot water tap and water started splashing around the tub.
“And some bath salts. Let’s see what we have on the rack.” I looked up and my eyes wandered around all the different bottles.
“A bath bomb shall do it. ‘Sex bomb’, when have I even bought this?!” I chuckled and reached for the rounded bubbly thing at the corner.
Until the tub was filled up, I got rid of my clothes and slipped on my silk gown and tied by hair up on a messy bun.
“I love me a hot bath.” I whispered when I dipped my toe into the water and let loose of my gown, letting it slide off my bare chest and bum straight to the floor. The steamy air, instantly made my nipples perk up.
Once fully into the water, I sighed and leaned back. The smell of jasmine soothed my body and mind. My body relaxed completely, synching with the water.
“Mmm, I wish Ben was here too.” I smiled with my eyes closed, picturing the two of us, me leaning against his chest, melting into his body.
I slid my hands over my knees and thighs, massaging circles onto my lower back and belly button.
Running my fingers over the valley between my breasts up to my neck. I rubbed it, releasing some tensed knots there.
“He doesn’t even know what he’s missing on. Perhaps...” I straightened myself “Let’s show him exactly what he is missing on.”
I stretched my arm over and grabbed my phone. Dialing him, I put the thing next to my head and relaxed into the water.
Leave a message Beep
“Benny.” I bit my lip with a devilish smile on my face.
“How’s it going? I’m at home” I stretched my leg up.
“Taking a hot bubble bath. The full package. Well not quite actually.” I chuckled.
“It isn’t exactly the full show without you, boyfriend.”
“You seem to be enormously busy these days…” I exhaled next to the phone beside my head.
“Nnn’d been missing you so, so much.” I pouted my lips and made the puppy eyes.
“Sswhy I thought I’d call, but you don’t answer. Hope you’ll hear this…”
“I love the way your hands roam my body, and give my bum a little smack every time they’re near.” I giggled and but my lip at the thought.
“And I’d squeak in surprise, but you know I actually like it.” I emphasised on the last word.
“Oh I wish you were here to feel my breasts in your strong demanding hands.” My breath hit my throat, and I exhaled sharply. My hands slipped around my hardened nipples, which were so sensitive at the touch already. I massaged circles and glided my thumbs over each nipple, making me let a small moan.
“Thinking of you makes me aroused Ben…” I kept rubbing my sensitive breasts, each toich felt heightened than the one before. My eyes were closed and head laid back. The foam spreading around my chest, made the sensation so much better.
“There’s something so sexy and dirty leaving you the sounds of me pleasuring myself on a voice message.” I mumbled with shortened breath.
“You didn’t even knew you’d be listening to THIS.” I moaned loud when my other hand slid right to my clit.
Sensing the tension in the little nub, I gently rubbed my tensed spot in different patterns, not holding back any moans at this point.
“Anybody can hear me if you’re In public when you head this …” saying those words pushed me harder towards releasing the held tension.
My middle finger drew circles around my aroused lips and pushed inside, immediately attaching to the O spot.
“Fuck!” I squeaked and my knees closed together.
“I can feel your finger pumping in and out of my heated core.” I breathed out as I started pressing and curving my finger inwards.
“I’ll even ass a second one.” I quickly pushed two fingers, making my back arch.
“Ahh…” I started curving both and applying pressure to the place where it felt most pleasurable.
“Pinching my nipple with the other.” I smirked, as if he could see me.
“Ben. Oh Ben…” I moaned and shivered in place.
“FUCK! YES! BEN!” I screamed when I curved my whole hand and reached my clit with my thumb and rubbed it.
“Ah. Ah. Ah.ah.ah.ah.ah.ah.” I was letting strangled moans, when the orgasm hit me. Hard. It washed though me, hot nad cold waves, I exploded over and over again. My back was highly arched, and knees uncontrollably shaking. My walls tightened around my fingers, I thought what must it feel like for his cock when I come undone onto it.
“Fuck. Fuck.” I started to calm down, while my core was still pulsating.
“That was a long arse voice message, innit?” I caught my breath and took the phone in my hands.
“Come home and fuck me already, baby.” I blew him a kiss.

Fic: Triangles (Ch. 2)
After the Oculus exploded, the spark that is Leonard Snart was sent hurtling through time and space. His latest destination: The waters of the Bermuda Triangle in 1939. And a luxury liner called the Queen Anne…
(A sort-of crossover between Legends of Tomorrow and The X-Files episode “Triangle.” Mostly Snart POV.)
Continued thanks to @larielromeniel and @pir8grl for looking it over.
Note: I hope this is something both Legends and X-Files fans can enjoy, although I’ll tell you going in that it’s mostly Legends (and time-hopping Snart POV). Will be three chapters and a short optional epilogue.
Can also be read here at AO3 or here at FF.net.
The song I use here is "I Thought About You," which was first recorded in 1939, although it's been redone many times since. The version I listened to was Benny Goodman with Mildred Bailey on vocals, although the words are slightly different. It's on YouTube-just in case you want some background music. :)
The Queen Anne, 1939
As the Nazis drag Mulder from the room, he struggles to keep Scully—not-Scully?—in sight. And in doing so, he catches sight of the tall, blue-eyed guy in the tux, the one from the captain's quarters, holding out his hand to a blond woman.
Time traveler? Well, not from 1939, anyway.
"Hey!" he yells. "Hey, you! Black jacket! If you're from the future, you know these guys have to go down! Help me!"
His intended target doesn't even hear him. He's too busy steadily watching the Sara Lance doppelganger in front of him.
Her eyes have widened in surprise, before they narrow and regain that particularly chilly expression. He can almost see her calculating the odds he'll call unwanted attention to her if she refuses. (Nonexistent, but she can't know that.)
Finally, she gives him a tiny smile, accepting his hand (calluses on her sword hand, just the same) and allowing him to lead her to the dance floor.
"You wanna dance, Leonard?"
"It's the things I didn't do…"
The band slows it down just the merest bit as "Jeepers Creepers" comes to an end, and the next voice he hears causes him to start in surprise and glance over his shoulder. And, yes…yes, it is a perfect '30s-garbed version of Kendra Saunders who's standing there on the stage, singing the opening notes of a song:
"Seems that I read, or somebody said
"That out of sight is out of mind
"Maybe that's so but I tried to go
"And leave you behind, what did I find?"
His arm is around this version of Sara, and if she's not the woman he knows, not quite, he can pretend she is. It's hard not to smirk, to fall into the old habit of banter and back-and-forth, and she hasn't even spoken a word.
Somehow, they each know how the other moves.
She's smirking a little, herself, and when she speaks, he leans a little closer to hear her words.
"I don't even know your name," he hears. "But you're getting awfully familiar…"
His hand on her hip, her hand curving around his neck…
"So are you," he informs her, and sees her blink in surprise to realize that yes, yes, she is. "But…that's not even why I'm here."
Is that a flicker of disappointment? She makes a little mock moue and turns her head aside. Continuing to keep Raymond and company in sight, he knows.
"I took a trip on the train and I thought about you
"I passed a shadowy lane and I thought about you
"Two or three cars parked under the stars
"A winding stream"
"Well. Then," she tells him, "why are you here?"
He leans even closer. "Sara," he breathes into her ear, feeling the muscles of her back tense immediately beneath his hand, "whoever you're targeting, don't do it."
"Moon shining down on some little town
"And with each beam, same old dream
"At every stop that we made, oh, I thought about you
"But when I pulled down the shade, then I really felt blue"
Her eyes are fastened back on his, now, and it's unmistakable how much danger he's in.
But she just laughs, a light little chuckle, fake smile on her lips. "Silly," she says teasingly. "Now, whatever are you talking about?"
"You know what I'm talking about," he whispers. "Sara, I know you don't know me here. But I'm a...friend. Trust me. Don't do it. You're better. You're more."
And then he feels it, the tiniest, more imperceptible shift in the ship's movement. Something's happening.
Before she can pull away... or knife him... Leonard releases her, except for one hand, which he can't help raising to his lips. And she lets him.
It doesn't count as a stolen kiss, he thinks. But it's something.
"I'll be back," he tells her, dropping her cool fingers and taking a step back, two. "Please. Listen to me."
And then he turns and vanishes into the crowd.
She stares after him.
"I peeked through the crack and looked at the track
"The one going back to you, and what did I do?
"I'll leave it to you, oh what did I do?
"I thought about you"
FBI headquarters, Washington, D.C., Nov. 16, 1998
"What are you guys doing here?"
"Mulder's in trouble."
"Big trouble."
"What do you mean?"
"Let's take a walk."
"OK...where are we going?"
"The walls have ears."
"I have ears. Will you tell me what's going on?"
"Mulder's disappeared."
Back to the Queen Anne, Sept. 3, 1939
Leonard stoops to pick up a fallen officer's hat from the ballroom floor as he leaves the ballroom. Not perfect camouflage, certainly not paired with a tux, but enough that a casual glance might flicker over him.
He's a few decks down, trying to figure out the way to the boiler rooms, when an approaching ruckus has him ducking behind some equipment—and shaking his head when he hears the indignant voice pitched to carry over the noise.
"I got two words for you, buddy—Pearl Harbor!"
Are you kidding me? He winces at the thought of the potential timeline damage... then winces again at the fact that he did so.
After thinking a moment, he ducks his head and falls into step behind the mixed group of sailors and one Fox Mulder as Nazi soldiers herd them along.
"After Poland, Hitler's on his way to Denmark, Holland and France with a few stops in between," Mulder continues blithely. "The French all but roll over on us, the Italians seize their opportunity and the Japanese come through the back door. It's a long, bloody story. It fortunately has a happy ending."
"We win?"
"Yeah, you come out on the side of history with no small amount of help from us. Not much to apologize for over the next 50 years except for maybe the Spice Girls."
Leonard snorts at that, but they're at a new door now, and all of them are motioned through, even the extra, who pulls his hat down and moves to the edges of the room as soon as he can.
"Schnauze halten, verdammt noch mal! Raus mir euch! Vorwaerts, worauf wartet ihr? Mach schon! Los!"
The door is locked behind them, but they're in an engine room, a fact that makes him smile in satisfaction. Because near the engine room, there will be the boiler rooms. In the boiler rooms, there will be fire.
And when there's fire, he'll almost always find...
"...Thor's Hammer. You know what that is, mate?"
The term, however, stops him in his tracks.
Because abruptly now he knows, oh, he knows, what's been up with the Raymond and Stein doppelgangers. And who Sara is targeting.
...don't do it...
The sailors and some of the crewmen are getting into it now, and he starts edging away again, toward the boilers, as more of the crewmen emerge to see what the chaos is about.
"Thor's Hammer isn't a weapon!" Mulder's voice rises behind him. "It's a man, a man who will help build a weapon—a bomb that'll win the war for whoever has it! … I saw him! In the ballroom."
Leonard is jogging now, dodging crewmen through the boiler rooms, scanning the light and the shadows. And suddenly, there, shoveling coal and illuminated in the light of a boiler, is the man he's been looking for. Or, at least a man who looks just the same.
"Mick!"
The big man turns to look at him, and Leonard can't keep the grin off his face, even if this isn't really Mick, isn't really the man he's known for 30 years. This is backup, this is the closest thing he has to a brother…
"The 'ell are yeh?"
Irish accent, here, a strong one to go with the "Rory" inherited from Irish immigrant ancestors. Or maybe not ancestors, at this point. He stops, drags in a breath, puts both hands out in a gesture of supplication.
"Look, I know you don't recognize me here and now," he tells Mick's doppelganger. "But I know I can count on you. This ship can't go to Germany."
A cry rises up behind them, and Leonard frowns, then clarifies, "Or Jamaica."
An incredulous frown, and then a snort of amusement. Mick turns to pitch another shovelful of coal into the boiler.
"Listen to me!" Leonard grabs the other man's battered sleeve, dancing back to avoid the swing of a fist. "If this ship goes to Germany, the Nazis—I know you hate Nazis—will get their hands on...on a weapon. One that will win the war for them. And I know you know about the war coming, because you always pay way more attention than anyone thinks."
That earns him a pause and a considering look. Mick shakes his head, then leans on his shovel.
"Look," he tells Leonard, "don't know who the 'ell yeh think I am, or why yer talkin' to me 'bout this, but I'm nah hero."
"Look, I get that. I…" He throws an annoyed glance backward as the crowd around Mulder gets even more rambunctious. "I just know you won't want to let the Nazis win. Am I right?
A gleam in Mick's eyes. "Keep talkin'."
"Like that lunatic's telling them." Leonard jerks his head toward Mulder. "Turn the ship around and head back the way you came."
"They got words for doin' things like that, man. Like 'mutiny.' "
"Since when do you give a shit for rules?" He's about to retort further, but there are new voices rising, and they're not speaking English. He moves behind Mick, who glances at him and shakes his head but doesn't comment.
"Du! Der Amerikaner!" one of the Nazis calls. "Du kommst mit uns, rauf hier. Ja, mit kommen."'
They grab Mulder and start hauling him off, and even Leonard will give him some credit: he doesn't go easily.
"Turn the ship around," the Fed calls out, struggling, "or Hitler rises, Germany wins and your children will never know what freedom is!"
Once they're out the door, Leonard draws another breath and moves out into the open again.
"Melodramatic," he tells Mick, "but true. I have to go. I hope…" He hesitates. "I hope we meet again. I'm trusting you."
And then he takes off, ignoring Mick calling after him, heading for the opposite end of the ship, for the ballroom and Sara and Raymond and Jax and Stein...
Thor's Hammer.
There's no music in the ballroom now. Just a frightened silence. The passengers stare at the Nazis, who are holding Mulder near the front of the room. "Achtung!" one calls and, indeed, everyone's attention is on the scene.
Everyone but one. Now, two.
Leonard skirts around to the back, searching, searching. And there they are. Stein and Jax are in the back, in the shadows, Raymond continuing to stand in front of them, between them and the Nazis, an obdurate look on his face. But the danger he doesn't see is the one that's closest, just a few feet away, lovely and blond and deadly.
"Aufstehen. Mach schnell! Get up! Er sagte..."
"Wir haben einen mann an bord, einen wissenschaftler der weiss wie man eine bombe macht die den krieg gewinnin wird. Frag ihn, wer dieser mann ist."
Sara's whole attention is focused on that little group near her, not the Nazis; she's not even pretending anymore, but Raymond is too distracted to see it.
Leonard does. He sees the tiny pistol she's holding and where it's pointed, and he moves to her side, breathes into her ear, courting danger and knowing it.
"Sara," he tells her, again. "Sara, don't do it."
A muscle jumps in her jaw, but she ignores him.
Toward the front of the room, one of the Nazis translates for his superior. "There's a scientist on board who can make a bomb. Who is this man?"
"I don't know," Mulder tells him.
There's the distinct sound of a gun being cocked and much of the crowd gasps.
Sara doesn't even twitch. And she doesn't look at him. She moves a tiny bit, lining up her shot a little better. Leonard spares a glance. Raymond and Stein and Jax...they're still oblivious.
"Who contracted you to do this?" he asks her quietly. "Or is the League doing it on its own?"
Now she twitches. "How do you know..." A shake of her head. "No matter. I will do what I have to. And then I will take care of you."
Toward the front of the room: "Sag ihm, wir werden einen passagier umbringen fuer jede falsche antwort."
"You will answer the question or we will begin killing passengers," the translator says. "Which one is the scientist?"
"I don't know," Mulder says again.
"Schiess ihn."
A gun goes off. One of the passengers falls. Many of the rest are crying, horrified. Raymond looks shaken. Stein is talking to him, now, quickly. Jax is trying to see what's going on.
Sara, Leonard thinks, has her shot. But still, she doesn't take it.
"The Germans cannot get him," she says, as if to herself.
"Frag ihn, wie viele personen er sterben lasst," says the Nazi leader. "How many lives are you willing to sacrifice?" says his translator.
"None," Mulder tells him. But seconds later, there's another shot, more gasps and cries of terror.
The redhead, the same one Mulder had been bothering before, gets involved now. From what Leonard can tell, she gets right in the Nazi translator's face. "Stop! This man has no answers," she tells him fiercely. "You're killing innocent people to learn that he knows nothing!"
At a few words from the Nazi commander, the translator aims his gun right at her head. She glares at him. Leonard winces. The woman has nerve.
Mulder apparently can't take it, though. "I'll answer the question," he says, and then points down the first man the Nazis killed. "That man is the scientist."
An indrawn breath from Sara. Leonard leans toward her again.
"But he's not," he tells her fiercely. "I don't know if he's a distraction or a substitute or even if he thinks he's the one they're after, but he's not." He nods toward Stein. "He's the real Thor's Hammer, isn't he? And you think you have to kill him."
She looks at him now, and her eyes are distraught. "I have to," she tells him. "I have to save the future."
