I broke down the hilarious amount of "Aziraphale tartans" so you don't have to.

I've been slowly going bonkers collecting the amount of times members of the cast/creators and fans of Good Omens over the years have referred to various things as "Aziraphale's tartan". Even on merchandise, I've seen wildly varying opinons about what pattern Aziraphale's tartan actually is. Your resident graphic designer has decided to sit down and just do the damned thing*. Exhibit A) Tartan Origin

Sarah Arnett posted this image to her instagram in 2019, having created "Heaven's dress tartan for the character Aziraphale". However, the only time I've actually seen this pattern used in good omens is in the season 2 announcement poster made by Mickey, and maybe on a pair of socks Aziraphale wears in season 1, (but I'm not convinced).

So here's what that looks like. Note I've rotated the original pattern 90 degrees clockwise in my final pattern (far right) for reasons that will become clear shortly.

Exhibit B) Aziraphale's Bowtie, Thermos, Notebook etc.

This is the tartan that Aziraphale actually wears for most of seasons 1 & 2.** It's a recoloured version of the Exhibit A), and has been rotated 90 degrees on it's bowtie application so that the darker bars run vertical, and not horizontal. The problem is, while the direction of the pattern on his accessories doesn't change, it does on the bowtie. You can see examples of the tartan going right OR left in both season 1 and 2.

Exhibit C) Aziraphale's Brown Bowtie...

This Tartan isn't just a trick of the light. For the first park bench scene in season 1, Aziraphale is wearing a version of his regular bowtie, recoloured in brown and rotated 90 degrees, so that it fits with the direction of the original Exhibit A) Tartan, but not with the direction of the tartan on his Exhibit B) regular bowties. This bowtie was made special, from cloth cut in the opposite direction.

Exhibit D) Aziraphale's Magical Cravat!

Now this is where it starts to get interesting! I haven't seen many people discuss Aziraphale's magician disguise from season 1, but his cravat actually has both Exhibit B) and Exhibit C) tartans to create a contrasting double sided tartan: the outward facing brown, and the hidden, inward facing blue (according to costumer, because of lack of enough brown).

Exhibit E) Saraqael's and Muriel's Tartan

Don't be fooled, Saraqael's and Muriel's tartan may look similar in colour to Aziraphale's, but when you pick it apart, it's got inverse colours, and mildly squished horizontal striping. If you note the orange boxes in each picture, you can see the ratio of the blue stripe to the vertical stripes in each tartan is different, while keeping the overall pattern and ratio in each direction the same. Exhibit E) has a square intersection. It's also usually woven much larger. This tartan also introduces a small sliver of hunter green into the beige/blue/purple palette that's been seen so far.

Exhibit F) Gabriel's Tartan Blanket

Like the others, Gabriel's S2E1 blanket is a variation on the original Heaven's Dress Tartan. It's got very squished horizontal striping though, and is woven even larger than the Saraqael Tartan. Most noticeably though, while it has the same grey vertical striping as Exhibit E) it's now got even more green in it, and the purple is gone almost entirely (save one line).

Exhibit F) Have a bonus Crowlee Tartan from the Season 1 body swap miracle that matches none of these.

It's silver silk though. Can I get a wahoo....?

Okay so I was rewatching the Earthspark S2 episodes about the chaos Terrans for my fanfic (Becoming Family) and I specifically noticed the protoform designs

With Aftermath, we don’t get a good look at first since it’s all closeup with heavy lighting or just really obscured

I thought we just didn’t get a good look at all, HOWEVER! There is a moment right before the truck hits him where we can see his protoform design mostly in full

It isn’t a recolour or anything, it seems to be a totally original protoform design. I honestly didn’t expect them to put the effort in, but it’s something I like a lot!

Now, we get a much better look at Spitfire overall since we see her better and she isn’t so obscured

She’s basically a recolour of Twitch’s protoform but with some more edges, which is fine since her main design is a recolour anyways. Might as well imply an explanation for why they look so similar AND save money on making a brand new 3D model that will be gone in less than a minute. (Also it seems Spitfire’s eyes look different between these screenshots, going from pure magenta to magenta sclara with yellow iris, but it’s mostly a nitpick since I didn’t even notice the first few times I saw this scene lol)

I have a few other observations too:

It seems their colours are inverted from the season 1 protoform designs we see, with dark plating, red biolights, and magenta/red optics. They also have more spikes and sharp edges on them rather than smoother round shapes. Good way to visually imply how they’re “corrupted” Terrans

The biolights they have seem to stop glowing very quickly, since Aftermath’s seem to fade and Spitfire’s completely fade away as she’s falling. Lore detail, or inconsistent animation? You decide!

While later we see their emberstone shards in their chests, their protoform seems to not have them visible at all.

Anyways, just wanted to share in case anyone else was curious :)

Sims 2 Tools - SceneGraph Plus

SceneGraph Plus

SceneGraph Plus is an application to display and manipulate scene graph (mesh and material) resources.

While it is similar to SimPe's scenegrapher, it has major differences:

it is a standalone application;

it can open and write multiple .package files simultaneously;

it displays all connections between resources, and not just those in the chain starting at the "top-most" resources;

it understands recolours (MMAT/GZPS/XMOL/XTOL), wall/floor coverings (XOBJ), fence (XFNC) and roof (XROF) scenegraph chains;

it understands links from STR# resources (0x0085 Model Names to CRES and 0x0088 Material Names to TXMT);

it supports renaming resources - maintaining the integrity of the chain (both names and TGIR values);

it supports relinking resources - enabling broken chains to be repaired.

Stocking Stuffer 5/5: 2 Functional AC:NH Conversions for Toddlers

You've reached the toe of the stocking!

The lovely @decat2 converted a bunch of beloved objects from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and I thought a couple of them might make cute toddler toys.

First up is the "unfinished puzzle", which now functions as a logic toy. Toddlers will still use the shape puzzle blocks with it but I thought it looked kind of cute so I left it. It comes with the 6 original Animal Crossing textures Decat converted as well as some new recolours you see here; a clipart painted cottage, this sweet ACNH screencap by user aforestlife, these flowers by Ellen Crimi-Trent, this pastoral scene by Leon Devenice, this adorable kitten painting by Lucía Verdejo, and then three of my old Freezer Bunny calendar pics.

And second, we have the bird pool ring, cloned from Rebecah's pool tubes. Toddlers can be placed in the floatation ring and will splash around while the ring is animated. Comes with all 6 original Animal Crossing recolours converted by Decat.

Zelda's 1925 Wedding Dress

Happy New Year everyone!

I woke up today and thought that a beginning of a new year is a good moment to finally release this dress, which has been sitting in my WIPs forever. Something new for a change: a wedding gown inspired by a rl one from 1925. It was originally made extra for Zelda Darlington from @aheathen-conceivably's Darlington Legacy, hence the name - and Heathen was so kind to let me release it to public. So here you go!

As always: Base Game compatible, HQ compatible, properly tagged, custom thumbnails, chronological CAS positioning, specular, bump maps etc. Comes in 2 versions: with and without train; you can use both.

Only one swatch this time, sorry! Feel free to recolour.

Warning: compared to my usual pieces this one is extremely high poly. Slightly over 30K (!!!). Or slightly below for the no-train version. The main culprit is this little beauty:

You know your own PCs and their capacities best. Use with caution.

(A little behind the scenes comment: this dress was also me experimenting with so-called 'blender sewing', which is a very different cc-making method than my usual one. Therefore, as you might see, the result also looks different from my usual style. Much more alpha. I absolutely don't hate it, but I guess some people might, whoops).

Another piece of Queen's Gambit clothing. This time it is outerwear, based on the coat and hat that Beth wears in the final scene of the show. I love this outfit and the symbolism behind it, having Beth mimic the White Queen, the most powerful chess piece. It's a timeless set of outerwear that is sure to fit both modern and retro sims.

I tried my best with the bone assignements, and I think they're pretty good, but there will be some clipping in more extreme poses.

I like this idea! Please let me know if you like it, this is my first time writing a oneshot for seduce me! I’m taking inspiration from a scene from the hunger games bc the version of Mika I like to envision with Sam is very similar to a female Peeta, like shy but very strong and very clever.

What’s your favourite colour?

Mika sighed as she stared at the screen in front of her, she had an 2000 word essay due at midnight and she only title down, and it was already 10:30pm.

“I’m never going to get this done in time,”She said to herself. “You’d think after fighting a devil and she-demon I could atleast write an essay.”

She knew she should’ve asked James for help, but seeing as him and Erik had gone out to dinner with their girlfriends, she was left to fend for herself on this essay. She thought about asking Matthew or Damien, but then remembered that Damien couldn’t read very well, even though she had been helping, and Matthew didn’t like writing. Sam never even crossed her mind for it.

“Screw this.” She closed her laptop shut and left her room, in need of some kind of distraction.

As she was about to go downstairs she heard a soft humming, walking closer to the noise she realized it was coming from an open window. Knowing it was Sam, she decided to go see him. They hadn’t had much time to talk since everything happened with Diana.

“What the fuck?” Sam stopped his humming as a pair of hands appeared.

The top of her head peeked up. “Mind if I join you Dingus?”

Just as he moved down to help Mika, she pulled herself up, steadying herself before she moved farther up the roof where Sam was.

They sat in a strange silence for a while, neither of them really knew what to say.

“Aren’t you supposed to be doing school shit?” He broke the silence, he leaned back on his elbows, staring at the sky.

She shrugged. “I just can’t right now.”

“Why not?”

“I have no idea, maybe everything that happened in the last month fucked with my head.”

Sam scoffed. “Well obviously, and you humans get so stressed about all this school bullshit for no reason. You gotta get your mind off it and come back to it later.”

“Okay…distract me.” She told him. If anyone could distract her, it was him, she found it hard to not stare at him.

“Uhm okay then..how are your friends doing?” He mentally smacked himself.

“Oh, they’re good..they don’t remember anything about Diana or anything so I’m happy about that.” She nodded awkwardly.

She asked a few questions about the demon world, hoping to not overstep any boundaries, listening intently to his expressions and tone as he spoke. Eventually it felt like that had shared their life stories.

“So…what’s your favourite colour?” The way she said it didn’t even sound like a normal question, he sounded so

“Oh that questions over the line.” Sam let out a chuckle, sensing her akawardness

At the sound of his laugh, Mika blushed before turning to look at him, their eyes meeting.

“Seriously Sam, what is it?” She shifted closer to him.

“Green,” he answered truthfully. “What’s yours?” His question sounded genuine.

“Orange.”

“Like Damien’s hair?” Sam laughed as he asked her.

Mika let out a giggle and shook her head, “no, not that orange,” she thought about it for a moment, “more uh..more like a sunset set kind of orange.”

Sam watched as a small smile graced her lips as she talked about how she loved sunsets. Taking note of the goosebumps forming on her arm.

Without another word, he scooted down to where she was and wrapped an arm around her, pulling her close. “You’re gonna get sick up here doofus.” He said as she slowly rested her head on his shoulder.

Once more they sat in silence, but a comfortable one this time. Just listening to the wind howl softly and the leaves dance as fall began to take the leaves down and recolour them.

Without speaking, Mika slipped her hand into his, interlacing their fingers.

Smiling, Sam gave her hand a small squeeze and pulled her closer before letting go of her hand.

He used his hand to tilt her chin up to make her look at him, they were both smiling and had a soft red hue run along their cheeks.

“Can I…can I kiss you?” He wished he could’ve taken back the first time he kissed her, he wanted this one to be romantic, “please.” He added.

She didn’t reaping, she just closed her eyes and leaned into him.

He smiled and leaned in, smiling as their lips pressed together. The hand that was on her moved to cup her face.

They smiled and panted as they pulled away. “I like you, so much Mika.”

“I like you too Sam.” She said as he rested his forehead on hers.

They sat on the roof a little longer, once they saw James and Erik pull into the driveway they realized Mika still had her essay due and it was already 11:15.

“Come on, you need to ask James for a lot of help if you have to get that done. I’ll bring you up a coffee and some snacks.” He offered and she gladly accepted.

He helped her off the roof and gave her one more swift kiss before heading downstairs to prepare a few small things.

She had kissed him, and Damien smiled at his older brother as he heard the happy thoughts running through his mind.

These two are the main reason why im so late btw. Turns out coming up with OC designs on the spot takes time. Who'd a thunk. All that to say that their designs may change in the future.

Day 2: Fave Ship

Tree and black hole from bfb and tpot! Treehole or Astrobiology if you prefer.

Day 3: Recolour

Swapping loser's and winner's colour schemes. Their poses are inspired from one of the scenes from winner's flashback.

Day 4: Sleep

Mephone4 having a snooze. His night lights were fun to draw ^^.

Day 8: Humanized

A "human"ized version of black hole. Yes I skipped like 3 days but shhhh. That's between you and me.

Anyways, colouring him was probably the most fun I've had when colouring. I want to do more stuff like this.

Binderary book 1: a long-favourite EXR fic. I love wild Les Mis AUs and I love Shakespeare and this is all of that in such a lovely lovely form. Stage manager Enjolras is inspired. Also, I've been frothing at the mouth to use my special blackletter fonts and go suuuper overboard designing and this was Perfect for that purpose.

Design and Construction Case: Flat-back case binding with bradel board covers and spine. The spine cloth is Hollander's pearl linen in charcoal grey. The painted titles were done in Amsterdam acrylic ink in silver, with a pair of scissors because I don't own a painting brush and likely never will. The cover papers are printed on 80gsm white printer paper and glued with a regular Elmer's glue stick and PVA on the turn-ins, and the whole case is sprayed with workable fixatif to (hopefully) preserve it longer-term.

Covers: The front and back covers were designed in Photoshop. The centre image is a William Morris pattern, and the top and bottom little circles are Renaissance printer's ornaments (pngs by the lovely @helle-bored of Renegade Bindery) that I vectorized in Illustrator (Illustrator and I were sworn enemies until this month. Now we're forced friends. Like enemies to lovers).

Insides: Endpapers are a William Morris pattern recoloured in Photoshop to be a richer green and red, obv, for EXR. Printed with inkjet on 80gsm printer paper and glued to gold cardstock, and sewn into the textblock. Endbands are pre-sewn from Hollanders, dyed gold with acrylic ink to match the endpapers.

Typesetting Typeset was done in InDesign. This is a one-shot with scene breaks, so to match the theatre theme of the piece I replaced the horizontal line breaks with flagged scene numbers. I tried to strike a balance in the typesetting between classic Shakespearean aesthetic with the blackletter drop caps and cover fonts versus what you might see in a theatre script book with the monospace accents. The title spread uses a transparent decorative frame, again from Helle's collection; the large box in the middle with the title was part of the original frame and then I duplicated and resized it for the author name and my imprint.

We All Do It, or, the Mistakes Section I somehow managed to print the cover papers nine inches tall and didn't see a problem with it until they came off the printer. Truly who knows how that happened. I was working on the case at two in the morning and cut the spine cloth the wrong length three separate times...earned the measure once cut twice badge big time for that one. The endpapers were an ordeal and a half for real. What I learned: print them too big and glue the cardstock to the back, then trim the paper to size, not the other way around otherwise you'll end up with big ugly gaps where the trimming was a few millimeters off. Whoops.

I'm particularly pleased with how the covers here came out so here's closeups. Also, the arc on the spine that you can see in the endband on the last one is really pleasing to me lol I fought a war trying to get the flatback hinge calculations right.
