Wow! What an honor!

Jokes aside, I do think Leviathan having to consume the god appmons is a cool touch? like, Leviathan’s goal is to rule over humanity by giving them order and structure, and in order to do so it must eliminate other polities (and bodies capable of producing individual thoughts that goes against Leviathan’s concept of the world) by absorbing them.

Anyway. While Leviathan is causing mass panic in the physical world, Haru is still being hunted in the AR Field. Appmon does cinematic real well, and it’s such a joy to watch :V

this imo is a nice callback to ep 1: “if someone kind like you takes an active approach, you’d be invincible.”

Compared to the vague threat that Leviathan poses in previous arcs, this is personal for Haru: Leviathan (through YJ14) took someone he cares about away, and he has a clear target (the Yuujin that he knows and loves) to rescue. The phrasing of Haru walking to fight Leviathan, but running to save his precious friend is also rad as hell, conveying what Appmon sees true heroism as. Being a protagonist—a hero—isn’t primarily about beating down bad guys; it’s about saving people.

This throws YJ14 off: for all his surveillance and calculations, he never foresaw Haru’s devotion to his friend is what gives him strength, and YJ14 cannot understand the concept of Haru having so much faith in Yuujin (and that their interactions are meaningful) that he refuses to be twisted by fear and hatred.

(another reason for his shock could be attributed to Leviathan’s conception of humans being based upon the fear of death; Leviathan and YJ14 cannot comprehend why Haru can stare unflinchingly at the extreme danger he’s in, trusting Gaiamon to protect him and refusing to back down from taking Yuujin back.)

on the topic of devotion, the way Rebootmon is acting is almost like a heartbreaking mirror of Haru’s determination to save Yuujin? Both Haru and Rebootmon (Offmon) are attached to their bond with Yuujin, and they both see Yuujin in YJ14. But while Haru fights to get the Yuujin he loves and trusts back, Rebootmon obeys YJ14′s horrific friend-killing orders with nothing more than resignation and a slight hesitation because of the love and trust he has for Yuujin. He goes after his friends and he sacrifices himself to further Leviathan’s plan, because YJ14 ordered him to.

(the little groan here is just... god he’s been beaten up by Gaiamon, he’s exhausted... but he still grapples Gaiamon so that Leviathan can eat them both for a power boost...)

With all the god grade appmons becoming Leviathan’s dragon chow, the final phrase of the big L’s plan is underway... but Haru does not despair.

i both love and hate that the episode ends with that—we can pretty much guess what he’s going to say, but we don’t get to hear him say it just yet. Haru’s resolution will have to wait until next episode.

Also, since Yuujin had briefly resurfaced past YJ14′s control last episode, it’s possible that Yuujin will be back and help turn the tide for our heroes (and possibly fulfilling the "lay down your life to save a friend" clause from Minerva in the process.)
