“tlt isn’t descended from homestuck fanfic because tamsyn muir said in an interview that it’s not” i don’t even go there but no author would admit publicly to their novel series being inspired by homestuck fanfic they wrote in 2011 even after being placed in a saw trap. come on now

i’ve always found it peculiar how during meeting the chargers cutscene the game just assumes your character automatically understands what krem is talking about when he mentions binding (though, granted, it’s all very unsubtle). like, this is a roleplaying game. what if i want to play a character who just doesn’t get it
#dragon age#cremisius aclassi#inquisitor trevelyan#at least give me an in game explanation of why the inquisitor would Know this right away#it's not like transgenderism is a widely explored topic in da lore. the most you can find about it in inquisition specifically excluding#krem and seras countless transmisogynistic lines is one codex that mentions that some previous divine mightve been a trans woman#and the way it's written sucks ass. the infamous sex in thedas codex also mentions nothing on the topic of transness. so like#whats up with that#art stuff#before anyone says anything i fully realize how i look critiquing a bioware game that came out in 2014 on its faulty queer representation#please trust me i know. im just thinking out loud#ALSO. in case it isnt obvious. parsley transed they gender. the joke is that theyre a nonbinary femme now#its hard for me to show it through art because it would involve misgendering them but they dont actually start going by they/them pronouns#until after halamshiral. so like technically if i made them refer to themselves as he/him at any point before that it would be canonical but#its not like my art is chronological by any means and cannot be taken out of context by virtue of it existing as an individual post online#if someone were to reblog an art of them saying hi im a dude theyd go cool! hashtag male inquisitor. or something#the tragic case of sacrificing narrative in order to not get second hand discomfort at seeing parsley misgendered#ANYWAY..........

I also know in my soul that Rhaena's arrival at the Vale isn't going to be the warmest or the smoothest when Jeyne Arryn sees that she brought baby dragons instead of a full-grown dragon. It will be seen as an insult or worse and it will fall onto Rhaena to claim Sheepstealer to smooth tensions or maybe Jeyne will advise her to claim Sheepstealer. Whatever happens, I know my Lady is finally going to have her moment and take to the skies with her new dragon.

As much as I love Helper T as a friend I wish he'd stop buying random things with our budget. He didn't even solve the Rubik's cube he bought last time, now he's buying those metal wire puzzles.

The amount of people that don't know not all neutrophils enjoy eating bacteria or infected cells is wild. Have you tried to eat some?? It's terrible. Some of us only eat it because it's part of the job.

I agree!! How else would you relieve stress if you can't straight up explode? I would rather die than have to deal with that everyday, I'm so glad parasitic infections are rarer than bacterial and viral infections.

The reason why Cellor-sun was so adamant about saving her friends despite risking her life to do so was because if she didn't she risked the Natchlor absorbing her powers and in turn causing the destruction of the whole vessel. Yes she loves her friends but she needed to take the risk, it was a big part of the plot, how do people not see that the first time they watched??
Also I hate how they forcefully gave Cellor-sun a love interest. Soma was an interesting character as Cellor-sun's new companion but they didn't have to force the love interest trope on him. I feel like the trope was so one dimensional, like two different people wrote him. The Cellor-sun I know would never instantly fall in love with someone like that! Their arc was literally 20 minutes long!!! She has high standards and yet just happened to meet someone who has all those exact standards??? Where do you find a cell that happens to be into all your interests, mesh well with your friends, and don't mind that you are a magical girl constantly risking your life for the sake of the vessel?? Soma would've been fine if he was just a friend of Cellor, he could've been her love interest, just stretch it out realistically. He has interesting powers that interact well with the rest of the cast, I really just wish his arc with Cellor would've been written better. Whoever wrote that needs to post a public apology right now.
#cellor-sun against the univessel #cellor-sun #soma-san catu #i could've written it better for real #catu

Romulans, yes or no? 👉👈
Tumblr media
Romulans...YES!
Urasa:
Urasa was abandoned by his father as part of some double-cross/life lesson about being weak. He met a Klingon boy named Adokthosh and saw that he was weak and cowardly compared to the others around him. Urasa ran away from the care of his Romulan bretheren and the two of them began working together to get to the top of the Klingon empire through lying, cheating, bribing, and stealing. I'm sure that'll all go well for them! I'm also sure there won't be any complicated romantic feelings. Bartovka:
She & Asil (Tuvok's daughter) have a longrunning evil-doer vs gallant hero thing going on. Thankfully Bartovka is usually easily foiled because she loves expositing about her devious plans and also is so full of herself that she makes it kinda easy to defeat her.
She figured out she was trans because of Asil. The two of them get in a lot of …. situations. Together.
She has two kids and a wife that she's trying to avoid at all costs because she's pretty sure they'll try to kill her if they find her. Or worse, she'll have to pay child support.

it amazes me how zuko lived a good portion of his life thinking he was a bad firebender. like yeah, if he’s comparing himself to the best three firebenders in existence (azula, ozai, and iroh) , his skills aren’t going to look amazing. but if he looked at literally any of the other thousands of fire benders out there, he’d realize he’s significantly better than them. bro was 16 years old defeating generals and soldiers with decades more experience than him. i’d say the one thing that really limited his ability was the source of his bending, which he changed in season three. so even when he was drawing his fire from anger and was objectively at his worse, zuko was still a force to be reckoned with.

It’s very fun and awesome watching Tumblr slide back into gender essentialism again, this time flavored with amab/afab language. It is also very fun and awesome to notice how white and perisex the discussion is, almost as if people are trying to make radfem talking points to prove how correct and oppressed they are without actually analyzing what they’re saying because they never listen to anyone else besides their own people

"Could superposters alter not just what showed up in people's feeds, but their very sense of right and wrong? I put the question to Betsy Levy Paluck, who had won a MacArthur Foundation "genius grant" for her work exploring how social norms influence behavior.
(...) Schoolkids bully or don't, she found in a long investigation, based largely not on whether they expect punishment or think the target deserves it, but on whether it feels moral to them. Either bullying felt permissible, even righteous, or it felt wrong, and that internal barometer was what mattered most. But how does our moral barometer become set? We like to think of ourselves as following an innate moral code, derived from lofty principles, lived experience, the advice of a trusted elder. In truth, studies find over and over, our sense of right or wrong is heavily, if unconsciously, influenced by what we believe our peers think: morality by tribal consensus, guided not by some better angel or higher power but by self-preserving deference to the tyranny of cousins.
In an experiment in rural Mexico, researchers produced an audio soap opera whose story discouraged domestic violence against women. In some areas, people had the soap played for them privately in their homes. In others, it was broadcast on village loudspeakers or at community meetings. Men who listened at home were just as prone to domestic violence as they had been before. But men who listened in group settings became significantly less likely to commit abuse. And not out of perceived pressure. Their internal beliefs had shifted, growing morally opposed to domestic violence and supportive of gender equality. The difference was in seeing their peers absorb the soap opera. The conformity impulse - the same one that had led Facebook's first users to trick themselves into fuming over the news feed - can soak all the way to the moral marrow of your innermost self."
- The Chaos Machine, Max Fisher
This book so far has been talking most centrally about Facebook, and to a lesser extent algorithm-sorted social media in general (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, etc.) - and from my experience of this site in particular if not those others, I think there are some meaningful differences in how Tumblr functions compared to those bigger sites, that make its effects on group behavior distinct if still broadly related and relevant.
But damn if this portion didn't come for my entire understanding of how fandom and related subcultures around here develop self-reinforcing behavioral norms, and how those social norms have changed in tone over the past couple decades.
