Mk has forgiven Mac who actually made an effort to hurt Mk (past mistakes) while Nuwa was opposed but still didn't stop Mk from not fixing the pillar of heaven.

I always felt like after S5 his relationship with Nuwa is similar to the one Steven had with Rose after S5 of SU. So it's- complicated

Well, I would say Wukong, but here comes the question: a Stone Monkey, born from a stone, would be able to reproduce themself? There are no other like the four celestial primates and MK, so I would assume that they weren't able to- reproduce normally. Also if they would does it mean the womb is a stone as well???

Bro I have to say this I swear-

I see people trying everything to make it seem like Wukong is a lot worse then he is. I understand you like Macaque, I do too! But the entire point of their relationship is that they’re both in the wrong. The difference is, Wukong got, well, character development. It just feels super annoying to discredit Wukongs hard work in JTTW because of things he did prior.

I’m not saying Wukong is some saint, or an amazing person even while the story is taking place, but he is NOT as bad as some of the people in the LMK fandom make him out to be. I assume it’s because Macaque is the goth shy boy (/hj? /lh), but Macaque literally comes out just to manipulate MK and steal his powers. He’s making the exact same mistakes Wukong did, fighting for power so that he can protect himself. Get stronger. Etc.

Season 4 Special Spoilers:

I don’t think Wukong was ignorant in saying that Macaque doesn’t come to help him. I mean, he got beaten by the Jade Emperor and presumably everyone just left him there and ran off. I’d be pretty mad too. Of course, Macaque was hesitant to begin with, and that’s fair. But he was already there, he could’ve tried. But Macaque has a habit of shying away from fights, only really fighting others to settle a score (S1 E9) or if he has to (LBD arc - both working for and against her, but the S1 E9 relates here, too.) I’m not saying this as an insult, more of an observation. He’s not a coward by any means, a coward would be Peng, who leaves mid-battle in fear of being hurt or losing. Macaque finishes his fights (still knowing when it’s reasonable to retreat), but more often then not prefers to prevent them in the first place. (WHICH IS WHY THE DIVORCE SCENE HITS SO HARD, you know he’s been bottling that up ;v;)

ANYWAY back on topic. I definitely think everything Wukong said there was true. I don’t think he was trying to lie or manipulate Macaque by saying “everything I did was for us”. This is further confirmed when we see him later, tired and completely defeated.

He has nothing to hide here. He’s at his lowest point, stuck in a mountain, tensions high from being abandoned by his sworn brothers, being abandoned by people he held dear. Macaque was trying to be nice, but if I were stuck in a mountain and offered food from someone who left me in such a vulnerable state? I probably wouldn’t take the it either. ALSO. We still have NOT seen these things from Wukongs perspective! Every single time something is revealed from his past, it’s narrated by Tang, Azure, Macaque, etc. Wukong has never (from my memory) spoken about his trials first-hand. This is why I love the guy so much!! What’s going on in his head? How does he feel about these things?

These are such complex characters who have been through so much, so it really bothers me when people look at Sun Wukong and decide to demonise him because of the past which, not only has he moved on from, but we have never even seen his side of the story on. Why did he kill Macaque? Did he kill Macaque? (I’ve seen theories he didn’t, we don’t know rn tho)

Wukong went through a lot of pain to change. Wukong is haunted by his past and in genuine distress over it. You can’t tell me this isn’t a man filled with deep remorse for his actions.

He’s not perfect, but he’s a hell of a lot better. It just really frustrates me that people disregard and discredit the work he put in to get to this point.

It's been 10 whole years of Banana Myles!

10 years ago today, I made the original Banana Myles post and from there - Everything went bananas!

It’s been a decade of banana mischief. Though it wasn’t my intention at all…

As you can see, the first post was all about Myles and Crohn’s Disease and bananas. Quite innocent.

But then people were liking it and reblogging it, and the notifications I kept getting were titled “Banana Myles” and the phrase was embedded so deeply in my brain, that the next morning this happened. And still, I actually thought nothing of it. 

Yet, at the evening of Jan 1st, something awful happened to me. My mother passed away after 3 months of sudden sickness and I was mess.

Anyhow, I was still getting the “Banana Myles” notifications and by chance, there were banana related posts appearing on my dash in the next few days, and it was amusing me, so I started reblogging them with a “Banana Myles” reference, and it seemed I wasn’t the only one amused by it. because people were liking and reblogging and commenting… So after a little while I went fully bananas… And from then on, it just turned into a giant snowball, and in the next few months I was infecting a great portion of my followers and friends (Not only on tumblr), and then even people who barely knew me! And as the Banana Myles bug was spreading, it kinda turned into an AB nation/MK fandom epidemic… Which to this day I’m not sure whether it’s a thing I should be really proud of or if I should feel totally ashamed. LOL

I might be blowing his banana addiction thing a little out of proportions (Or not so much. It’s all true I tell you. All true! LOL)… But it’s fun. And it does have a base in reality. 

So, thank you all for not only putting up with me and my quirky ways, but also really liking it.

I know I'm late as hell but holy crap life has been busy, but I've read all your posts about your medical issues and even though I'm a stranger on the internet, I was so so happy to see you got good news back. I hope it continues to go well for you and things just get better and better!

Also I hope when I send in my random thoughts about Bi-Han it doesn't feel like I'm pressuring you to write for it! Because that's totally not my goal, I just love seeing your opinions about him and I spend a lot of free time daydreaming while doing stuff and my brain just goes 'Hey what if...' because I have an over active mind.

Also also, my hubby did surprise me with that Sub-Zero shirt for our 10 year anniversary (along with a nice mk dragon logo pendant.) after I showed him your post with yours! So thank you so much!

Oh I sooooo understand the over active mind, mine is a constant “what ifs” hive haha I wonder why? I’ve always been like that I suppose though and maybe that’s why I write? I appreciate you saying no pressure though because my creativity has really been all over the place lately and some days I feel up to making content but other days I just want to consume content. Which I feel guilty about sometimes but then I try to remind myself I have written an awful lot of Sub-Zero Bros and Lin Kuei content and it’s ok to have consume days. I’m not trying to say you have to contribute to consume content I’m just trying to say I feel guilty if I don’t contribute personally. We need consumers as much as we need creators, without consumers there’s no one to see or appreciate the content! I hope that doesn’t come off wrong. I do wish more consumers reblogged and commented though, but that’s just a personal thing, I very much thrive off of praise and knowing I did a good job and I’m very guilty of judging my work based off of number of notes. Thinking on his arachnophobia as a metaphor for his relationships and mental health is certainly interesting! You did skip over the Season 2 special, which is fair tbh lol- and that's where it actually got in the way of helping Wukong and even caused things to go more wrong. Granted we got Redson on our side now, so that's great! Mei points out how well he's handling his phobia and he directly says "I'm internalizing a lot of stuff right now" while sweating buckets and his knees are weak. Poor guy- I feel him lol-

Oh! I completely skipped over Wukong leaving and how that messed with MK a bit- well shit- Ok well, Wukong literally brushing MK's concerns aside was not really what MK needed. MK may have not internalized LBD yet but I'm sure he feels he's not ready to face Spider Queen alone yet, especially when his strongest safety net (in literal power) is abandoning him.

One thing I'm learning about right now in school is attachment and the importance of a safety base. You can be expected to fall but most people, specifically kids, need that hand there to catch them when they fall. We see quite a few times (like at least 4- kinda) that Wukong can and will pick up where MK can't continue or just support him to try again and actually succeed. Now, I don't consider MK a kid, especially not a baby, but I do consider it important because I still feel that need for a safety net support, even if I am an adult (a new one but still). Without that safety net most kids will be anxious to try new things and in some extreme cases be developmentally delayed. MK in no way was delayed but he did show a lot of anxiety on the idea of training alone for a bit.

Actually in most of the eps it's clear he's not ok with this, especially in Minor Scale, where he doesn't swear (because it's a kids show) but he practically cusses Wukong out for making him learn something without any help.

"Look alive MK! Learn to shrink yourself MK! Ugh! Like I can learn how to do this on my own!"

Either way, Wukong leaving MK alone was not the best idea on his part and made MK easier to manipulate by BOTH Macaque and LBD. Because right now MK's mentor, who's meant to be there for him and help him with training, is not around and MK is upset about it. Why did he leave? Did he really need to leave him alone? Why couldn't this dumb vacation just wait for a week?

Since you pointed out Shadow Play, I might as well get into it lol! SO! Shadow Play. So at the start it's established that LBD shook him up so harshly he started to isolate himself to make himself stronger. ... You know who practically taught him that? Macaque. Anyways. MK doesn't see what happens to his friends and then watches Macaque's story, alone.

So like any very likely autistic as hell person seeking some kind of comfort after one of his favorite people has abandoned him for at LEAST a week now, or more, he attaches to the story. (Totally not calling myself out here lol) He starts to insert himself as the warrior, totally not because of Macaque's own teachings and LBD's manipulation -_- , Macaque how the hell did you expect MK NOT to relate to your side of the story??- Either way, his friends not being there to fill the void of his mentor not being there does not help him not feel like the warrior. Actually it seems he feels like the warrior could've been abandoned by everyone not just the hero, because if we look he clearly looks hurt by Pigsy not having his shop open, and walking away. Tbh to me it looks like he thinks Pigsy abandoned him, like Wukong did, and walks away because it hurts more to face that his "dadsy" abandoned him. Mei's not picking up her phone and so did she abandon him too?

Then we get to the scene with him opening to Macaque. MK has festered his anger to Wukong for the past week, and now his friends are gone, and he doesn't know why. If he's anything like me, then he likely took his friends "leaving" personally and thus adds more to his frustration. Why did they all leave him? Like excuse me??? Which makes it easier to open up about that frustration by using the story as a basis for connection and metaphor. It seems that Macaque is the only one he actually was able to talk to at all in that moment, idk where the hell Sandy is in all of this but oh well.

It's possible that later, the shadow play lives in MK's head when his mind starts to wander, especially when he sees Macaque afterwards. Especially the last little bit about Wukong abandoning his friends and accusing MK of doing the same. When MK feels, and is right, that his friends abandoned him for that day or more. Then it gets to the narrative of what was vs what it won't/will be. But idk lol-

Just a small Shadow Play ramble lol-

Now the Azure fight, oh boy- You pointed out the dehumanization in his own words and Azure's words, and man I forgot about that- I do think MK in a way could have been projecting his own struggles, also I wonder if Azure actually did beat MK, would MK feel better or worse? Because Azure would've had to do exact what he's been doing to every villain thus far, and or because MK is now is that "villain" in his own eyes and Azure's eyes? Idk just typing what comes to mind lol.

However, I'll disagree with one thing. I think it's completely MK speaking, nothing is in control. Your shadow doesn't control you, it just manipulates your thoughts. However, I do think that this is when his shadow has the most influence, MK is still the one doing the actions and saying the words. This means when MK unleashed the monkey form, he snapped. He was done with holding back against people who's hurt him, who's manipulated him, who's wanted to groom him, who's tried to isolate him more than he already has from at least a year ago.

When you snap, you may have control but your own emotions take over, adrenalin and noradrenalin start to flow. All you see is a red haze. Even then, often times you remember everything. If you think of an argument with anyone where you just snapped and yelled everything that has hurt you, you remember it and you know you were technically in control. Now what if you needed this, you needed that release and now that you have it, it feels too freeing to stop it. I'd imagine that's exactly what MK was going through. That's why when Azure says "Look what he's done to you! Turning you into a mindless, savage animal!" MK replies "Oh, there's nothing mindless about me, friend."

Reading back I might have misread (it's like midnight lol) but I like the explanation too much to delete it lol-

OH YEAH I FORGOT ABOUT RELIGION AND SHADOWS- lol-

Now I do agree, it is a triumph of humanity, but MK's battle has only just started with his shadow. There will be relapses, and struggles. It's like taming a wild animal that's inside you, it will bite back, it will scratch, it will try to hurt you. Especially when it's as strong as MK's shadow. MK has won the battle but not the war yet.

Honestly... Yeah his savior complex really is just a mortal version of his purpose- damn tbh-

Also again, MK has full choice in his actions at the end of season 5. However, once more, his shadow has the most influence right now. Which in my own experience with harsh moments, the shadow guides you and shoves you to do something you may not want but... everything will be better if you follow it's lead. It's what Xiangliu suggested, it's what the guardians want, and it's the best way to save everyone. Why shouldn't he listen to that voice in his head telling him everything that's bad and why he should go through with this? All he does was cause pain, so let him fix that pain.

Trust me, that shadow has REALLY strong hold. You are still in control but it's like a parent yelling in your ear to do something, even if you freeze, they'll keep yelling. If you fight back, they'll yell more to get to to submit. It's not fun... I don't envy MK in that moment lol.

Tbh that episode was well done in showing what it feels like to face that demon in you that tells you so many harsh things. I think that scene can't really be improved on- But we need to see MK struggle with himself. If he doesn't then that episode is not good. It takes so much time and effort and I truly can't stress enough how tiring it is.

One thing I should note! When taming your shadow, if you have intrusive thoughts, or impulsive thoughts, don't repress or attack them. Trust me it does not help. It's ok to have them and acknowledge they exist but remember they're only thoughts. It's ok to have bad thoughts when mad or upset, so long as you don't act on it. But I do suggest a therapist regardless. There are different types of therapy besides talk therapy, research them and see what may work for you. There's Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR therapy, ect. ANYWAYS! It's late and I need sleep lol- Hope you had fun reading my ramble back lol!

Because this psychology stuff is fun, how about an MK?

Since people seem to like the Macaque episode analysis, I'mma do Monkey MK. Specifically Episode 4 of Season 5.

Ok this turned into an entire thing that's not just that ep lmao

I made a "keep reading" line because holy hell is this post long- (Also I just wanted this posted so no fancy quote pictures this time- rip-)

Well first and foremost, we need to identify roughly MK's mental state and make a rough blueprint of it all.

First event that really kicks off MK's traumatic run is the Macaque episode. Sure there's minor details that came before but if you notice, since that episode, MK has not been the same even if it's a very tiny difference.

I guess a minor piece that's important for this is the Spider Queen special, mostly for one line. "Wow MK you're handling your spider phobia really well!" "I'm internalizing a lot of things right now-"

A minor piece is Wukong's leave in sleep bug, but more important for an in-depth analysis of MK.

Then the next one is Minor scale, which is Episode 5 of Season 2, aka when MK meets LBD, which is when she gets into his head.

LBD mixed with Macaque's past grooming makes MK very anxious, which is understandable. Thus creating a sense of fear.

Oh also Shadow play has some play in it but it just shows more frustration and worries, which he's likely been suppressing at this point. Also a bit more grooming, maybe? Idk gonna look at that later lol.

The entirety of season 3 but notably Smartie kid, aka episode 3, I guess The Winning Side, aka episode 4, The King The prince and the shadow, aka episode 9, the Samahdi Fire, aka episode 10, and of course the special for the infamous "For destiny, right?" "No, to pain" scene.

Then we catch up with MK's worries and doubts in Episode 1 of Season 4. The end of how me the monster and Pitiful creatures, aka episode 6 and 7. The brotherhood, aka episode 9, is notable because MK isolates himself for the first time. The fight with Azure and the end of it in Season 4's special.

Finally we are at Stings that bind, aka episode 1 of season 5, for all this trauma's response that's in MK, then sprinkle fear from Temple of the goddess, aka episode 3, and we got were MK is at in episode 4, which is our analysis.

So we have a map of sorts, showing how MK's mental health has declined and how his own thoughts started to turn against him. Why did I go over this before the monkey? Well, I just wanted to make sure we got our bases covered lol

So what is this Monkey form? Why do I want to analyze it specifically? Well... I'm sure it's no surprise it's a great representation of Carl Jung's Shadow Self theory (a bit ironic if you ask me). This leads it to be a great representation of how intrusive thoughts can break you down, creating depression, self-destruction, unstable identity, imposter syndrome, spirals, isolation, and more. Thus a great representation of of these mental health issues as a whole in my opinion.

So what even is a shadow self? Well, a shadow self isn't inherently bad. It's a part of you that is a mix of desires, weaknesses, and instincts. Actually there are good ones that provide creativity, "that gut feeling" instincts, and some insights like constructive criticism, and embarrassment (I know it feels bad but it IS a good emotion. Otherwise you'd probably do that embarrassing thing again and again.) However, Carl Jung, the founder of this psychological theory, primarily focused on the negative aspect of it, which is exactly what Monkey MK has devolved into for MK. These shadows are the manifestation of your intrusive thoughts, destructive behaviors, negative emotions, and suppressed traits and thoughts.

A good example I can think of on exactly what creates a shadow is from Inside Out 2. They have a dam of memories they just throw away because they want to repress them, unintentionally leading up to the climax. I won't spoil it but just know that letting those thoughts form into Riley's sense of self did wonders for her future and her health. Granted because it's a movie the process is very quick compared to real life, but you get my point.

MK has been making this dam of his trauma since Season 1. Which accumulated into Monkey MK. Well... he tried to face it but he was facing the wrong thing, but a positive is a positive. Which was in the Spider Queen special, he didn't confront this shadow but he did confront himself on his own assertiveness and reflected on himself. If only he did that again before season 5... With the grooming from Macaque, it made MK more susceptible to LBD's manipulations and her own grooming. Grooming lower's one's defenses or can impair a lot of thinking processes, and I can see one of the effects of Mac's grooming making MK unprepared mentally for stress and or blows to his self-esteem. For more information, I highly recommend you read over my Macaque episode analysis. The few reblogs by @zephyrusswinds goes into detail about MK's feelings and I just add on to their words.

As pointed out in that post, MK doesn't open up about his issues, likely because of Macaque's influence because the nature of grooming, and this habit carries on throughout the series. Before hand MK had a fairly open communication, mostly referring to episode 2. He had issues saying no to Mei and Sandy but also he easily opened up to Tang when Tang asked what was wrong. On top this, of his desire to help people turning into a desperate need. So with these two things combined, MK has a cocktail of dodging his issues, inflamed people pleasing, and a newfound savior complex. That's not even covering MK in the focus episode, where he literally has no way of dealing with stress until Wukong gave him that lesson.

Oh yeah, also the part about internalizing? It's ok to use your fear as motivation, but internalizing and, presumably, never addressing it only leads to problems. This also shows that internalizing things has been happening since Season 2. Then with Macaque's influence, MK then get easily manipulated by LBD. Her words get to him and makes the already dark void that Macaque planted bigger. He needs to be a good person, but also what if he's not and Monkey King chose wrong because of it? This creates anxiety and a deeper need to be good. Not quite until he self-destructs, not yet anyways. This anxiety is openly expressed to Macaque, after pushing MK to express it and likely only making him want to close up more. I mean, I'd not want to dump my insecurities on my abuser and especially when he can pretend to be my mentor, a person I trust. That creates trust issues and a more emotionally isolated person.

Oh boy with Smartie kid MK feels like he needs to be useful to the group now that he doesn't have powers. He often plays off stress and other negative emotions with humor and I can't think of a more humorous yet stressful time for MK. He just lost his powers, he knows Macaque is after them, everyone is over heating- It's just not a good time, so he becomes the smart one most likely for laughs. Then the winning side had Macaque taunt MK until he got his powers, also note his own words of "[...] And gold vision? That's like the baby power, and I can't even do that! I'm not even as good as a baby!" The Samahdi fire episode has MK forced to watch as his best friend is hurt AND on top of it both her and his mentor fly off. This would just be painful in it's own right, but also consider MK, at this point, feels like he needs to help everyone plus his best friend. He has a savior complex by this point, I feel, and when you can't help someone, it hurts like a papercut in lemon juice. Because what good are you if you can help others, especially when someone needs you the most. MK risked his life to save Mei because that fire can kill even Wuong, just for her to fly off to avoid hurting him.

In the end all is good of course, LBD gets her ass handed to her after MK made a plan. Not gonna cover the Macaque part since he doesn't affect his mental health. Then LBD parts with him with one last piece of manipulation "it all leads to pain". MK, with his savior complex, internalizes her words and BOY HOWDY DOES IT AFFECT HIM.

We see the near direct results of her words afterwards in episode 1 of season 4 where it's clear MK feels like he is responsible for everything wrong. This is his savior complex at full display. He feels so much guilt and now it's starting to eat him alive. He represses it until the ink scroll starts to notice him and break him more. Now his shadow has a form, and the ink scroll took that form. It's possible originally was closer to Wukong or Macaque (placing bets on it being Mac), but the scroll made it more like MK to mess with him. Regardless- It has a form now.

The rest we all know, MK commits a Mei and flies off to process things. Then fights Azure and has a ton of fun doing so. Possibly letting all the anger from all the time he's been manipulated lose, creating release and enjoyment. On top of the fact MK always has loved beating the snot out of his enemies- Then MK gets scared of this power and shuts down. All of episode 1 of season 5 is MK literally running dry to escape and dissociate from his own power.

MK was likely trying to tire himself out so he'd not have the energy to be that strong again, on top of trying to run from his thoughts. Making himself lowkey a workaholic and absolutely destroying his health. ... Which is a different topic as well but to recap, the first two days of no sleep aren't too bad but you'll have mircosleeps, which we see MK having, by the second. By the third day, healthline says one might experience depersonalization, anxiety, distortions in how they perceive the world, and more. And it just gets worse the more you don't sleep.

That's also neglecting that not sleeping makes you as functional-able as an intoxicated person.

Sooo... MK's going through a rough time emotionally AND physically because of his own self-destruction.

So he's self-destructing before he even gets to the suicidal point. Goodie. Once he gets to Sandy and the black tortoise, his shadow self has grown genuinely out of control. By the start of season 5, it's morphed from anxiety to depression and self-destruction, and from depression to suicidal thoughts after the Vermillion bird.

HOW TIME FOR THE HECKIN EPISODE-

So the main thing of the episode is to control yourself by using mediation and the same method used in shadow working, or therapy focused on your shadow.

Monkey MK is the shadow and we already covered how MK has been repressing and Monkey MK has been growing stronger-

The parts that Monkey MK points out is MK's lust for the strength fighting gives him and how addicting his chaotic power is. I have a theory on how chaos is like a drug but that's for another analysis. Then once MK fights against it, after some support from Sandy, by admitting that his shadow self is part of him.

"You're just a part of who I am!" "Rage? Fear? Desperation?" "Yes!"

Then after that he says to himself "You're me, but I'm in control." which is exactly what shadow work says.

The entire scene is one of many shadow working sessions MK will need to go through but this first one was the first big step to him accepting himself.

However, Sandy is right at the end, that was not a good or proper session, but it did help MK in the end to have that first step in shadow working and learning to accept himself.

Just remember if you are going to attempt shadow work, just remember that it IS difficult to face your shadow because it's literally facing the part of yourself you might dislike or even hate. So, as Sandy said, it's a process and you work at it every day.

TLDR; I rambled about MK's mental health issues, what is a shadow self and why Monkey MK is a shadow, and how the episode reflects shadow self therapy, aka shadow work. (Also I made this a few months ago and I just finished it just now lol)

i would like to provide an explanation or answer to your question about why fans of the ship enjoy metasusie in a nonchalant way: it's not because we ignore canon, it's because that's how we individually perceive canon & the headcanons we formulate surrounding our interpretation of it!

a lot of people, including me, like to see the "what-ifs" even though they'll probably never happen --there's a reason why alternate universes & fan work for crack ships exist!

& when you consider the fact that multiple people with diverse backgrounds ship the ship, you will inevitably see different interpretations of the ship rather than an echo chamber of ideas

metasusie shouldn't be restricted to a toxic one-sided relationship just because a few people prefer it that way --even the concept of "toxic & one-sided" itself can be interpreted differently, ie. what if meta knight had more control over the relationship than susie. sure, i don't think many would like to see that (or maybe they would) but it IS a valid interpretation of metasusie!

even if people are ignoring canon for the sake of shipping a ship, there's no reason why they shouldn't --people are allowed to & should be able to explore morally subjective/gray topics & ideas as well as see what they want to see instead of feeling at fault for wanting to go beyond what's canon or interpreting it differently from the majority

besides the whole canon part though, i feel that other things should be addressed within your original post, specifically this argument:

labeling people as homophobic for enjoying a heterosexual ship --homosexual people can in fact enjoy heterosexual ships, & it's not limited strictly to people who identify as heterosexual or bisexual. gay & lesbian people can enjoy heterosexual ships, just like how heterosexual people can enjoy gay & lesbian ships

implies that it's sexist or wrong for women to be feminine &/or men to be masculine. it is not wrong for women to be feminine & men to be masculine as much as it's not wrong for women to be masculine & men to be feminine

i imagine you don't actually view these topics as rigidly as you present them based on statements such as "Men can feel pain and have trauma, and women can do fucked up things for fucked reason and be fucked up" & "Altough I like it (moderatly), I just don't understand why you'd ship that over stuff like Metadedede, where the characters have an at least friendly relation in canon," but complex topics such as gender & sexuality should not be simplified into "it's homophobic to enjoy a heterosexual ship" or "it's sexist for women to be feminine/men to be masculine" as these statements completely go against the concepts they represent

i understand that it's much easier to carry out your argument this way, but ultimately it just doesn't work & basically placing a bandaid on a stab wound --it just doesn't cover everything & can make things much more worse.

please, no matter what i say, still feel free to share your opinion as it's still valid, but please don't casually use harmful labels solely because people interpret canon differently & want make what they want to see, just like how you want to see one-sided metasusie being treated in a serious manner! (you could also make content for that depiction of the ship as well, especially since there seems to be a reasonably sized audience for that)

you might not like other people's interpretations of metasusie & canon, but without variability & different takes, there wouldn't be any new ideas

i hope this reblog doesn't come off as antagonistic, passive aggressive or accusatory, i just felt encouraged to write this after reading through your reblogs with shippyo & gaining a better understanding of your stance regarding the ship through your responses to them. i wanted to provide an answer for why people enjoy metasusie the way they do as well as share some of my own grievances with your post since homophobia & sexism are topics i believe that should not be treated so lightly --i felt that they were being used for the sake of making an argument sound correct rather than any genuine concern for possible homophobia &/or sexism. i especially don't want to see these same homophobia/sexism arguments used in a future post against the ship by people who are just blatantly looking to create discourse

Guys, I really need to rant about Metasusie rn. Like, I don't dislike thoses who ship it, but I have such an absolutly visceral hatred for the ship itself my hands are literally trembling right now. If you dont wanna hear me rambling about how much I hate it, then just pass. Chances are I won't be very polite and organised.

So as time progresses I keep seeing more Metasusie. I feel like now's a great time to remind people why this ship is so controversial in the first place by explaining why I and so many others dislike it. Here I go...

Okay. First off. Why the heck would you ship two characters if the only thing we know ever happened beetween them is one of them at the very least ordering (possibly more) the other to be captured, modified and enslaved against his will, and the others time we see thgem together, he literally can't interact of his own because of that, while she is either about to force him to exterminate his own friend, or she is straight up presenting him like he's a non sentient toy she's about to sell ??? Along with fact that Susie calls MK an it in the second cutscene , and that the only time we ever see them interact in game (albeit possibly not canon) is him running away from her, and her chasing him ?! The fact that some people wiew that as a cool starter to a ramantic relationship is is worrying to me.

I feel like some people ship Metasusie out of spite, if that makes sense. They see a ship that's hated on a lot and they want to play devil's advocate. I understand, really (my own "devil" has black, torn off wings) . But even then you still have to consider what makes the devil hated in the first place. There's a lot of wrong in this ship you just can't ignore.

Most of the fans ship them for natural reasons ; because they look cute together, or because of their common points, and they usually just ignore the implications it has. This is understandable, again, but, if you want to ship those two in a cute way, you have to staight up rip away all the unethical stuff. To do that, you have to undermine Susie's terrible actions (or pretend it never happened), to make her cute, to ignore her character. In other words, you have to woobify her. For Meta Knight, it's no less bad, because he's a victim of mechanisation, like many others, and implying it was'nt that important is just kinda dumb (If that was the case, why would the Haltman company be the game's villains anyways ?) . When I say you can't ship those two in that way, I mean that you have to either mischaracterize them heavily, or retcon what happened beetween them to make it work.

That, or they're sometimes homophobes who want to latch on the first heterosexual ship they see. They make those two stereotypical depiction of both genders. Those, are the absolute worse, for obvious reasons, and albeit they're not the only ones who turn Meta Knight and Susie into people they're not, they always do it in the worst possible way : making MK a strong, masculine knight character who can't feel pain and Susie a cute, feminine and smart scientist who needs to be protected and can do no wrong, so the pink character and the blue character are the most gratingly stereotypic ship to ever exist. I see it often, wether intentional or not. It's so wrong and sexist in both way and is probably the worst iteration of the ship to ever exist. Men can feel pain and have trauma, and women can do fucked up things for fucked reason and be fucked up.

This ship has yet another infortunate message. The Haltmans are obviously a metaphor for colonialists. A colonialist having romantic relationship with a person who was colonised, is basically what this ship is. And if you know the slightest bit about that in history, you've probably understood why I feel so icky about this ship, knowing this is a possible comparison.

There's also those who ship one sided, fucked up Metasusie. This is maybe the one of the two only ways to ship those two without mischaracterisation, and the only one I actally like. Not only because I love angst, but also because it actually acknowledges that the slavery, the kidnapping, the mind control, the colonisation, all of that, is fucked up, and that it should'nt be a relationship. (My own interpretation of this, if it interest you, is that Susie has such horrible trauma with her father that she does'nt know what a healthy relationship is anymore. In the absence of her father, she goes to the only person she has a speck of admiration for, and thinks it's love. In her skewed idea of love, the partner has to follow blindly what she says and constantly be under her control, so when he resists, she just think he needs to be "tamed" more. Meanwhile, MK is traumatised and just wants to escape. Eventually she learns that it's more coping than loving and leaves him alone.)

Altough. Some of those people treat the ship, in its unhealthy form, as a good thing. To them Soos and MK are inhuman people who love by hating. But like, unheatlthy relationships are not a good thing. I only like toxic Metasusie if it's treated as a bad thing.

Finally, some shippers actually give both Susie and Meta Knight character arcs, where she comes to understand she is wrong and he learns how to forgive her/cope with his trauma. Not my cup of tea, but honestly, that's based. Altough I like it (moderatly), I just don't understand why you'd ship that over stuff like Metadedede, where the characters have an at least friendly relation in canon.

That was long, but in the end, if I can't understand fully why it's shipped, I can stand Metasusie if it acknowledge both character's flaws and and Susie's terrible actions. It does'nt happen often however, as most instances I see are sadly just idealised, woobified, mischaracterised versions of them randomly loving eachother without context. I won't (and can't) stop people from shipping them that way, but I'll keep being against it.

Wow, after this, I actually kinda feel better. I ended up being more polite than I thought, too. I guess I needed to get this out of my chest somehow...

[WALKTHROUGH + REVIEW] Masquerade Kiss: Yuzuru Shiba Season 2

Expectations:

I just want to start off by saying that the prologue is absolutely outrageous. There are probably so many targets that hang around the EAC headquarters, especially since HQ is presumably 3 miles within the UN Headquarters and let’s not pretend that there isn’t at least one target going to work there everyday. I actually spent 30 mins on google maps street view trying to find exactly where this location is supposed to be modelled after so I could find all the companies and buildings that have potential targets and then just gave up lol. BUT either way, I refuse to believe that a top international intelligence agency would just go WARNING WARNING and go into emergency lockdown because a target entered a 3 mile radius of HQ. Ridiculous. Also, the letter from the EAC even in the Yuzuru prologue also calls her Arisa Mifune which is her Kazuomi alias lol.

EDIT: I found the location of that background which implies that EAC HQ is modelled after 2 Hammarskjold Plaza or somewhere near (which is right next to the British Consulate btw, how did MC not see that on her way to the building. Also conveniently near something called Japan Society.). Note the octagonal-roofed thing on the bottom left, the general shape of the building, the covered part of the building lobby, the blue sign (afaik street signs in NYC are green) and the position and shape of the building down the road. And I know I’m taking this whole thing way too seriously, but Jeffrey Epstein had a mansion about 2 miles away from here so this whole 3 mile emergency alert thing is just ridiculous. Sure, Epstein probably never existed in the world of Masquerade Kiss but come on, it is highly unlikely that not a single target lives, works or passes by for a kebab within a 3 mile radius of the EAC HQ.

With that out of the way, let’s talk Yuzuru. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I was going to even play Masquerade Kiss ever again. I like most things about the game but Love Choice is honestly just a turn off and the only LC game that I am genuinely drawn to is actually Destind. But then I had 287 unused hearts because I bought a bunch of hearts with the intent of playing Kyogoku’s route in Romance MD (and then I didn’t because I actually just don’t like that game) so I decided to give it a shot. I actually (surprisingly?) prefer Kazuomi to Yuzuru as a character, but I like Yuzuru’s MC more than Kazuomi’s MC and I was intrigued that Voltage would push this whole love quadrangle thing. We’ve seen hyper-jealous Yuzuru before in a substory so I think I went into this route more interested in the plot aspect and to see how they would develop the kind of strange relationship between Yuzuru and his MC. I genuinely enjoyed Yuzuru’s S1 MS a lot and wanted to see how he and his MC would grow as a couple. Also I wanted to play it in order to write a review to bring some traffic back to my semi-hiatus stagnant blog lol. Please give this a like/reblog please I’m begging you please :’(

Review:

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this route. As I read through, I thought the pacing was excellent and I was really drawn in by everything about it, especially the relationship between Yuzuru and his MC. It has definitely been a while since a LC route really captured my full attention. However, upon rereading my notes and writing this review, I do have quite a few issues with it, particularly the plot. I’ll go through the things I enjoyed about the route first and then discuss what I find to be its limitations.  

So Yuzuru is great in this route. We get a far more expressive and soft Yuzuru. We get to see the most charming side of Yuzuru again, his childlike passion for engineering and innovation. This, in my opinion, is Yuzuru at his softest and most appealing, when he is genuinely passionate and not just doing the hyper-organised scheduling thing (although naturally most of this is hidden behind a heart scene). Sometimes it’s nice to remember that Yuzuru is human.

He’s definitely more playful with his MC in this route, even going as far as to blur the lines between work and personal life a little bit in a way that I found quite unexpected. There’s a lot of flirty banter between them, as well as just little suggestions of flirtations here and there in their body language – in front of people too! Scandalous. It almost reminds me a bit of Kazuomi and his MC, which is definitely a pleasant surprise. A lot of these scenes are hidden behind heart scenes, which I’ll get into later, but I will say that these cute and suggestive moments between the two are probably some of the best moments of the route, and part of the reason why it was so easy to keep reading.

I’ve mentioned this before but Yuzuru’s MC is my favourite version of the Masquerade Kiss MC. She’s great in this route too – cool, calm, great at her job. I also love that she likes Night at the Museum? Lmao me too girl. She has such trashy taste in movies and it’s a cute quirk that definitely makes her more relatable within the sensational premise of the game. Personality-wise, I think they did a good job at bridging the professional and personal aspects of her personality too, making her read like someone who has different personas that are different aspects of the same person. You definitely get a sense of the conflict within the MC when she has to extract information by using her sExUaLiTy when her boyfriend is watching on lol, even when they kind of make it out like a game. It is interesting and quite novel to see a Voltage MC successfully pull off a honey trap on a guy who kind of repulses her. We get snippets of it in other games such as Her Love in the Force but HLITF MC is always careful to keep boundaries so we never get to explore the full potential of the jealousy that can crop up in such situations. MK MC goes above and beyond to give us (and Yuzuru) a show. With that being said, I do feel like they kind of drew back from it a little by having Jeremy be super forward with his affection so the MC just has to respond, keep him on the hook and pull back every now and again, rather than actively needing to pursue someone to obtain information.

I also really enjoyed that moment when Yuzuru tells her to shower before going to his bed to wash off “Mia.” It solidifies that he’s really in love with her and not her charismatic, flirtatious hostess alias. Throughout the route, the blurring of the personal and the professional is definitely a theme that we see cropping up in the lives of both the MC and Yuzuru. It’s something that I find particularly interesting and I’m glad they picked this developmental direction since both Yuzuru and his MC are notoriously bad at mixing those two worlds, with both of them consistently and repeatedly picking work over love. We also get to see Yuruzu and his MC almost working together at times, which I adored. At times, they feel like a team. As always, they have tons of sexual and physical chemistry but they are slowly building up on the emotional chemistry and communication issues which is so crucial for character and relationship development. 

The SHE and EE in particular has some incredibly cute moments. Yuzu’s MC describing them as part of a machine is *chefs kiss* incredible. Their sex scenes are intimate, loving and incredibly romantic. Yuzu preparing his NYC home for MC? Adorable. And, most importantly, him not only tolerating but welcoming his MC’s “bugs” in their relationship? That’s character growth babey. 

With super long LC routes, I always get tired about 7 chapters in and give up and then have to come back and finish it later. However, this route sped along. The pacing of this route is pretty quick and snappy – in fact, I wouldn’t have minded if it was actually longer? Developments tend to happen pretty quickly, there are plenty of moments between Yuzuru and the MC that keep the story moving, and there’s basically very little, if any, ‘downtime’ in this route. Because they are constantly in the club or at Yuzuru’s place lol.

The writing/language quality is great. I felt genuinely tense every time Yuzuru and the MC almost got caught in the club and even more so when the MC went to Jeremy’s home. I couldn’t spot any significant typos or coding errors. The readability of this route is definitely top quality.

Moving onto my gripes with this route, I would say that they have to do mostly with flimsy plot, characters being reduced to plot devices, and lack of relationship conflict.

Firstly, something that I always find a bit off about the premise of EAC is how public their relationships sometimes are and how the MC’s private life even works. Yuzuru literally gets swarmed with people in the prologue asking for autographs and photos and yet later in the route can somehow go on a public date to busy tourist spots in central NYC with a spy? (That being said, I refuse to take that prologue as canon because of how sensationally ridiculous it is.) Let’s not pretend the EAC isn’t watching them lol (they even imply multiple times that this is the case). Is she not worried that Jeremy or Grace or any SHIBA or Space Crystal employees or any of the numerous powerful and dangerous people who frequent Freja will spot them together? There is no way she looks significantly different as Mia than as herself unless she’s wearing prosthetics or can turn off her star aura like Britney Spears can.  Also, is the MC supposed to be mixed? No one has any questions about how a native Japanese woman can get away with being called Mia Knightley?

They also set up this tension of something happening to the MC without Yuzuru ever knowing which never really plays out. There’s a brief callback to it but it’s more about the MC finding an excuse to see Yuzu. I thought the drama would have more to do with the MC having to keep secrets from Yuzu and disappearing but that never happens and so the repeated mentions of this particular source of anxiety don’t really amount to anything. I also wish they made better use of the stun bracelet! I think it would have been cool if that was what took Jeremy out. Symbolically, it could have worked as a physical manifestation of Yuzu’s trust and support of his MC and her job helping to protect her against the Big Bad.

Okay so my main issue is about the villains and the flimsy plot. Jeremy and Grace were such wasted villains!! If this guy went crazy and murdered 3 people… how did he manage to not only reinvent himself but in fact become a very high profile tech executive with more or less the same name? Imagine if Elon Musk was actually a crazy murderer who used to be called Elon Avrevic… there’s no way that he would be able to bury this, especially if he came from nothing and had no connections during the time in his life when he committed these murders. If there are actual criminal reports about his crimes that can be accessed by the EAC and SHIBA, how did he not get taken in for life after murdering 3 people? Why is he even free in the world? It’s such a big plot hole to me… doesn’t have the same fingerprints? Did he get such extensive plastic surgery that he’s not recognisable and also burn off his fingerprints? Evidently not, since the MC can recognise both him and Grace from childhood photos!

I also didn’t think his motivations were really that convincing. We get a throwaway line about his alcoholic father killing his mother because she tried to leave him, but in general they set Jeremy up with so much potential as this psychopath who hunts a very specific type of woman but then they just kind of throw it away with him just going crazy and shooting people because he just wants “girls and money”. Nooo Jeremy they did you so dirty!!!

I just think they built him up as this incredibly dangerous and manipulative predator but then just made him a standard alcoholic incel. He could have been such a good villain. He could have maybe drawn the MC in with sob stories about his mother and actually made her doubt her instincts with his charisma and vulnerability, with it turning out that the whole time he was just luring her in, instead of just relentlessly hitting on her and then getting carelessly drunk and going crazy. He spends so much of the route attempting to play and get with the MC and then just throws it all away by getting pissed and letting her basically have free reign of his apartment? I just don’t buy that a co-founder of Space Crystal would get to the top without being more clever, suspicious and manipulative – especially since he murdered 3 women and still is somehow a free man, ‘disguised’ as a very successful CEO?  Also, if he really just wanted girls and money, there were a thousand other ways of doing it. He could have been so clever and instead they just made him have occasional psychotic breaks with no discernible trigger. Disappointing.

(On a side note, they made his house look weirdly similar to Epstein’s manor. Or maybe all Upper East Side homes look like this, I have no idea. I did look around on Google Maps and I guess a lot of the homes in this area are kind of similar.)

Grace is also a wasted character. She kind of feels like a MacGuffin just to have this love quadrangle in order to play out the jealousy plot but ultimately plays no significant role. Actually, both Grace and Jeremy basically just act as jealousy plot devices, only the jealousy plot isn’t strong enough to actually threaten Yuzu and his MC’s relationship (except for one moment which to be honest doesn’t even play out like that because of jealousy and rather because Yuzu is trying to protect his girl).

Speaking of that moment, I thought that Yuzuru’s “push the MC away plan” could have been stronger. I feel like it’s not like him to do make such a basic attempt at fooling his MC. It might have worked in a different game but all of the MK guys usually know that they can’t trick their MC with cheap Harry and the Hendersons plots and they tend to not disrespect her enough to try. I know that as readers, we enjoy not knowing what the love interest is up to because it ups the tension and drama but I feel like there was a way of having that insecurity and conflict play out while keeping everything a mystery and making better use of the characters. Like maybe it could seem like Yuzuru is running into Grace’s arms after finding his MC in a compromising position with Jeremy when he’s actually doing his own covert investigations and making plans to foil their ultimate plans. Or maybe even working with Grace to take Jeremy’s wild country-bombing plans out. That way, we would prolong the jealousy/love quadrangle plot with the MC stressing about Yuzuru and Grace’s relationship, especially when she already doesn’t trust Grace. It would also make better use of Grace as a character and her position as both someone with a ginormous crush on Yuzuru and as Jeremy’s ‘partner’. If Grace also ended up betraying Jeremy to help Yuzuru and the MC, we could also have had some extra heartbreak about Grace having to betray the one person she has always had in her life (and maybe some extra backstory about Jeremy going nuts as part of having to protect himself and Grace from their parents and the world). #voltagehireme lol. I also find it highly unlikely that Jeremy managed to set up this whole missile-launching phone app business under Grace’s nose, especially when Yuzuru knew about it. Also, the idea of an American attempting to launch a missile to destroy the whole of Japan is a bit… on the nose lol.

The season isn’t really driven by relationship conflict even though they were pushing the whole jealousy line in the marketing. In the end, I don’t think the route is as much about jealousy as it is about trust – but then again, Yuzuru has always placed ultimate trust in his MC even in S1. I can see this being an issue for people who went into this route wanting genuine conflict in their relationship so that they can overcome and work through it to develop. There’s only a little bit of conflict towards the end when the MC goes to Jeremy’s home, and then that kind of gets discarded pretty quickly anyway. They just happen to be better at communication this season, and a lot of that is because of Yuzuru going out of his way to keep tabs on his MC. This is probably what makes the route so easy to read, because Yuzu is more open. However, because of this, while it is great that their communication as a couple improves, it may not necessarily feel that earned? With that said, credit to the writers for making Yuzu more open without making it feel jarring or like he’s had a sudden personality change.

And on another note entirely, I wish there was a bit more detail about the three “S”es and more involvement from Kazu and Kei, who basically just make gratuitous appearances in this route. Learning about them making Takoyaki together at Oxford is such a cute detail and also such an international student in the UK thing to do. Find me one Asian student studying abroad in the UK who hasn’t collectively cooked home food in halls with friends from their country (it’s always hotpot for me lol). I wish there were more moment with them actively involved in helping the MC.

Finally, I have my usual issues about the Love Choice system. If you play the route for free, you get very few cute scenes between Yuzu and his MC, miss out on some major character development moments (esp that planetarium scene) and you get a fade to black ending in the Normal End. Personally, I started playing Voltage in the early 2010s so I don’t mind fade to black endings, but I think the mature/sex scenes are what a lot of MK readers are here for, so it’s a shame that there isn’t even a kiss scene in the NE.

Overall, I would say that the chemistry between Yuzuru and his MC is what keeps this route going and flowing. I would recommend it if you just adore Yuzuru, want to maximise time with him and don’t really care much about plot. Otherwise, while their relationship is brought to new levels, it does not happen because of the plot as much as Yuzu’s response to events we don’t necessarily see, and it does not necessarily feel that earned because the plot doesn’t really put their relationship in that much jeopardy.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually really enjoyed reading this route – I found it super easy to keep reading, and Yuzu kept me hooked. I also love Yuzu more than ever. I think it’s a similar situation to Takane’s route, where the route made me love the love interest more, but has an average/flimsy plot. I imagine that his PoV will reveal more about those events that make him go out of his way to keep an eye on his MC, but as a standalone route, I wish there was more actual relationship conflict leading to more development.

Nope! This is literally just where I drop my smut and derpy Headcanons off. That’s why you don’t see a lot of reblogging on here unless it’s directly related to the blog or something I’ve been doing. Not that I interact much on my main blog, I’m just a shy sort.

You don’t write as much as you used to :( is that going to change?

Probs not. I’m finally back to working and on a good schedule, which hypothetically means more writing. However, I am going to use that to attempt to get working on a novel. We’ll see. Who knows?

Who’s your favorite you write for?

That changes day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute.

Your romance stuff is so cute, where do you get ideas for it?

Y’all ready to barf? Because this is so cheesy it’s gonna make you lactose intolerant. A lot of my romance writing is influenced by the way my father talks about my mother. Never settle for anyone that doesn’t treat you like you hang the moon, even 40 years later.

You slipped a few OCs in as reader inserts haven’t you?

You’re god damned right I have.

How do you come up with your headcanons and make them feel so in character?

I rely heavily on things like intro dialogues and cut scenes to pick up things about characters. Even if they aren’t canon they say a lot about how a person behaves. If I haven’t written for a character in a while, I’ll go rewatch all their intros just to get the vibe they send out back on my brain. This is why I don’t feel as confident writing for characters that don’t have as much content. When I’m faced with that dilemma, I just go back and read their histories and use what canon I have. Then I just kind of use my own empathy to reflect heavily about how someone that lived that way would be.

Of course, with a property like Mortal Kombat the characters are very much in flux from game to game. Some characters have the benefit of that being a storyline thing (Johnny Cage) and some are wildly inconsistent because NRS tends to think from a marketing first perspective and may change characters to fit into a concept or theme they’re packaging with the game (also Johnny Cage, but everyone else too). Johnny became a good dad because NRS wanted their big anniversary game to be all about next gen. Of course then they made everyone’s favorite characters to old/undead to carry a franchise... so retcons. I’m not bitter, you’re bitter. I’m digressing, the point is, sometimes with my headcanons I have to make a firm decision on the ever changing characterizations and just run with it.

Some characters were benefitted by this, imo, though. MK11 is by far my favorite Hanzo and Scorpion. Even though they did Kabal dirty, I really like the way they wrote his personality, and it confirmed a few headcanons I had about him already. And Erron picked up some major fucking swag along the way. I’m still digressing this literally has nothing to do with that question.

One more thing before I move on, because I’m already ranting anyway. They stole Cassie’s badassery because they put Frost in the game, and apparently there’s only room for one edgy-haircutted gay coded woman. I’m not saying this to shit on Frost, I really love writing for her. But! MKX Cassie Cage is the best Cassie Cage.

So anyway, that’s my most common questions answered with a bonus rant!

Note: this isn���t RE or MK related, but it’s something I wanted to write. The plot is about two strangers who have a small talk in an art gallery. William, the protagonist, is lost in his thoughts until a stranger decides to pull him out.

William was staring at the painting in front of him. The golden plate from below stated the name, artist, and a brief description. "The Blue Rider" by Wassily Kandinsky, To Kandinsky, the color blue was associated with heaven, supernaturalness, infinity, and silence. The title of this painting would also give name to the seminal expressionist group Der Blaue Reiter, founded by Kandinsky and Franz Marc in Munich a few years later.

He signed as he was staring blankly at the painting. From another person's point of view, he looked rather focused and intrigued by the piece of art in front of him, like someone with vast knowledge trying to find a meaning behind the colors and between the details, but in reality he was lost in his own thoughts.

Sensing he might be on another plan of reality, a person approached him and tapped lightly on his shoulder.

"Beautiful painting, isn't it?" He asked in a southern accent, seeming like another misfit in this sophisticated place just like our friend. 

"Yes, indeed." He turned his head to face the stranger and continued to speak. "To be honest, when it comes to art, I'm not much of a fan. Art is...very interpretable. I'm more of a books person."

"I see, then why are you here, if I may ask."

"My girl is more artistic than I am. She used to come here for inspiration, and sometimes I would tag along. I would sit on one of these benches while she'd frantically walk back and forth to each painting, writing down her thoughts on a cute, little notebook."

"Where is she now? Is she running around here as we speak?" He said it in a joyful way, somehow eager to meet the stranger's girlfriend, a stranger he just met a few minutes ago.

"She is not here. I-I don't know where she is actually." he chuckled faintly as he turned to the painting again. The blank stare returned to his face once again.

"I see. Is she- missing for a long time?"

"For a week. She packed some of her stuff and left."

The stranger sighed in relief.

Silence fell between the two men as they looked at the painting. Eventually, the stranger spoke.

"Will you two get back together?"

"Yes, we will eventually. We always do."

"What was the reason?" the strangers asked.

"We both did. At the beginning, both of us are too shallow, so we make excuses for our own faults instead of admitting them. We fight, and she always leaves, while I stay in our home. After our time apart, we apologize for our foolishness and get together. The point is, she always comes back, but it rarely takes this long. We must’ve messed up pretty bad." 

"I see. What do you think she’s doing while she’s away?"

"She puts an unbearable amount of guilt on her. She thinks it’s her fault, that she wasn’t enough, and that she will mess things up again if she returns. She likes to think that I’m better off without her, for she is a toxic individual who destroys everything she touches. She probably cries too."

"Is she?" 

"Is she what?" 

"As you said, toxic?"

William was silent for a few seconds, and then answered.

"No, no she is not. She is...misunderstood. Yes, that’s the word."

"Like every artist, ay?" 

"I suppose," he chuckled. "I just hope that she doesn’t stay away for too long."

"Are there any chances she won’t come home this time?" 

William chuckled again. 

"No, sir, as I said, she always comes back. The only things that scare me are the long periods of time she spends away."

"This girl is lucky, because not every guy would have the patience you have."

"I don’t care about what other guys would do, really."

Silence fell once again. The only voices were the ones around them, as people of many nationalities passed through the gallery. Some took their time to admire the works, some took pictures and moved quickly to another one, and some seemed to be out of the picture just as they were.

"Well, it seems you have things sorted out."

"Yes, we’ve been at this for a while."

"Sorry to bother you."

"It’s alright, it felt good to talk with someone."

"I’m glad to hear that."

The stranger tapped lightly on William’s shoulder once again and got lost quickly in the crowd.

William was left alone with his thoughts. 

"She always comes back, as we’ve been like this for an infinity, and will always be." he spoke softly, his words never heard by anyone as they became part of the inaudible disaster the voices created.
