WARNING-- Reaping Week is coming (Oct 26th - Nov 5th)
I've alluded to this a few times and chatted with a few ppl behind the curtain over this but I wanted to give a heads up to anyone who wants to either block the tag or do something to add to it!!
Tldr- if you want to avoid the more grim and possibly triggering stuff going on this week feel free to block #reaping week it won't be for everyone.
What is reaping week?
As @my-chemical-ratz helped me create the name for, reaping week is gunna be a Solarpunk (heavy on the punk) week of rebellion, rebuilding community and defiance!
Gathering its name both from the harvest season and from the Hunger Games reaping of tributes this week I'm gunna be posting things that are a little less cheery than my usual stuff. More focused in the anger, rightful rage, and how to direct it to action in your area. My hope is to build fires in all of us and burn some stuff down!!
What this going to include?
There's a few different facets I wanna cover---
Personal - DIY stuff. projects, local events, personal victories!
Sources of inspiration- as Solarpunk is built off of the idea of creating something to bring it to life I'm also going to be shoving certain media in your face that might give you food for thought, music to listen to while planning your rebellion, or quotes/movies/books to consume to inspiration your directed rage to a proper target.
How to organize and and build community directly in your area + Histoical movements (bread and roses, union strikes, things that have worked in the past)
Can I contribute/use the tag/join?
ABSOLUTELY BABES!! While I currently only plan on doing this with the stuff I've been saving over a few months in my queue everytime I got to pissed off to be hopeful, feel free to do your own works/posts as wanted!
Have a fave union victory? Share it!
Have a recommended piece of media that stokes fire and passion in you? Share it! Send it my way!
Wanna show off some grim and angry project or vent about how things are terrible? This is your chance!

Got some supplies in the mail for the hypothetical Halloween costume. Once again, I am too easily distracted from the task at hand, but better to have it early, even if only to figure out that it won't work.
Have to do some very important laundry tomorrow in prep for the upcoming convention. And after that, make another novelty t-shirt print, and a good amount of sewing.
And test some of the costume supplies... Maybe get a haircut. Get a flu shot? Make some humorous stickers to give out?

Fallen Star brainrot
Azura: why'd you do it. Literally the entirety of Morrowind gave you every reason not to
Sadara: I was drunk
Azura: The first time maybe, but what about the million other times?
Sadara: *gesturing vaguely across the room*

This is the reading I am choosing to start my day with while I wait for my chocolate from Emporium Black to come to room temperature. I decided to go with "Morning Drum" because I am trying to find more confidence when it comes to marching to the beat of my own drum! :)
JERA is a rune associated with "harvest" and "patience." It's possible I will continue to develop a stronger sense of patience and it will serve me well when it comes to sowing more seeds of success.
SALMON oracle is about staying determined. I will reach my goals no matter what it takes. I have the strength to fulfill my life's purpose. This truffle is about getting more in touch with my True Will and feeling how awesome it is. I can and will rise above it when I face adversity.
JUSTICE is telling me to be the best listener I possibly can right now. Listen carefully.
Strive for balance and keep focusing on my health. Keep investing my energy in new growth.
Be honest with anyone I end up seeing as a partner and even in general. It is good to try and be a fair person even though life is not always fair.
Always be kind!

Song of the Day: December 7
"Wolverine" by Goghi
#song of the day#beautiful beautiful song very very fun to sing. about loving nature and wanting to bite people! ideal. pristine.#every line is the best line but the whole chorus is really something special#'I am the wolverine / get close I show my teeth and / no love for my own / I walk my path alone and#I am the submarine / deep hunter of the seas and / I sink enemies / making widows in the open ocean'#there's a little fuck I never know what that's called. what's it called#a little ripple-run in the melody on 'making widows in the open ocean' that brings such incredible joy. amazing song to sing#also--this has nothing to do with the song--I am so hungry#Nick has his friends over (which is good! not complaining about that. he did get permission and they're not rude or destructive so chill)#but our livingroom is now a minefield of people and beverages and popcorns I think that smell is popcorn#and to get to the kitchen I would have to pass through. step over all of them and walk between them and their videogames on the big screen#and I'm just not feeling it!#so we turn again to the grace and foresight of past-me and we reap the great pop-tart harvest#do y'all know how many boxes of poptarts there are under my bed? literally I do not know. I've just been getting interesting flavors#apple jacks. banana bread. snickerdoodle. apple fritter. eggo. cinnamon sugar pretzel. cinnamon roll. that's seven!#seven boxes of poptarts under my bed! I gave the boston creme pie and pumpkin pie ones to Nick bc they were gross but these are all good#I missed out on the vanilla latte and chocolate churro flavors sadly. they were before I started#(do you ever get halfway through a sentence and then you think: huh. my whole life to date and this is what I'm doing now. huh.)#anyway they were before I started collecting poptarts

I was thinking about the whole 'not all cultists would be okay with the reaping' thing, and while I agree, I do have to point out this isn't something Joseph just sprung on the Project out of nowhere. This has been built up to for years apparently. There's been years (depending on when each member joined) for members to be indoctrinated into believing the Reaping will be necessary. Some people may get cold feet once it's a reality, but yeah. This wasn't a surprise for the cult at all.
Oh yes, they had been preparing for a long time, building their bunkers and already stockpiling weapons, bliss, and other supplies. The second Joseph shouted, “BEGIN THE REAPING”, they knew what that meant, what the plan was, and what they had to do, so they were very efficient. As a cultist says, “We prepped for years, and we took the valley in a matter of days.”
I suppose some of them didn’t expect things to get as dirty as they sometimes did, though, but most of them carried on anyway because, just like their Father, they had faith that it was God’s will and that it had to be done.

———————————
Rayleigh wrung her hands, pacing back and forth in their small living room. “Their shift only went to three, Dan,” she said. “Where are they?”
The digital clock on the wall read four fifteen. Colin and Bridger left early that morning, Colin was excited to be out of the house after his first major harvest. Bridger was begrudging, as he always was. It broke Rayleigh’s heart to see her son hating every day because of his job… but what could she do? She had applied many times to get it changed, but it was always refused.
“Daniel?”
“I don’t know!” he shouted. He put his hand over his mouth, looking at their front door where they knew the camera in the hallway could hear him.
That’s how they did it at Rockmire Hills. They had the illusion of protection with their own apartments they could have ‘privacy’ in, all while the cameras and guards were just outside ready to reprimand them for any infraction.
“I don’t know, Rayleigh,” Daniel said, quieter. “Listen, maybe… maybe there was an emergency harvest and the boys had to cover for someone. Or - or stay late. There’s no reason to panic now when we don’t know everything. Alright? So let’s just sit and wait for some news.”
But Rayleigh knew it wasn’t that. She could feel it, deep in her bones. She didn’t immediately panic, those were her first thoughts too, but it had been over an hour! It wouldn’t take them an hour to clean an extra room or do an extra shift. Not when there’s two of them.
Rayleigh was their mother. She knew something wasn’t right.
But she nodded anyway, giving her husband a wobbly smile and a tight hug. There was nothing she could do either way.
The knock on the door came not even ten minutes later.
A guard stood in the hallway, baton and handcuffs on his belt. Even with his hands clasped in front of him, the sight of the weapons made Rayleigh nervous. Daniel put a hand on Rayleigh’s shoulder.
“Yes?”
“Mr. and Mrs. Sharpe?”
Rayleigh felt her stomach drop to the floor. “Yes,” she whispered.
“It’s my duty to tell you that your sons Bridger and Colin Sharpe have been taken into the custody of the Rockmire Hills Law Enforcement.”
Rayleigh let out a strangled dry sob before putting her hand over her mouth. The guard gave her a disgusted look.
“For what?” Daniel asked, tightening his grip on his wife’s shoulder. “What have they done?”
“That’s classified.”
“Can we see them?”
“It’s not permitted. They may be transferred out of Rockmire Hills in the coming days.”
“What?!” Rayleigh felt tears of anger and fear fall down her face. “What do you mean they’ll be transferred?!”
“That’s all the information I have. You can call the Law Enforcement offices tomorrow and get more information.”
And then he left. He came to their house and told them the worst news they had ever had in their lives and then left, just like that. It meant nothing to him.
Rayleigh closed the door and dell into her husbands arms, sobbing. “Where will they take them?” she wept. “What did they do?!”
———————————–
Okay so Colin messed up. He knew that now. Well, he got the message when the doors locked them in OR and Bridger went near catatonic.
Bridger had asked him, What have you done? and Colin didn’t really know how to respond in that moment. It was when the guards came in the OR and took them both away in handcuffs that Colin knew Oh I royally effed up, that’s what I did.
So now he and Bridger were sitting side by side in the cell in the Law Enforcement Office of Rockmire Hills. Everyone in the office was human, no Crops, and Colin could feel their hateful stares without even having to look up.
The worst part was that they were still handcuffed. In the cell. What was the point of that?
“Hey,” Colin whispered, “Bridge.”
Bridger was leaned back against the wall behind them, eyes closed and jaw tight. He knew what was happening right now, and Colin needed to know. It was bad, he knew that much.
“Bridge, what’s going on? Why are we here?”
“Quiet!” the guard outside yelled.
Bridger flinched, smacking his head against the wall. He sighed and leaned forward instead, awkwardly since his hands were trapped behind himself. Colin scooted closer and leaned forward too.
“What’s going on? Is it because of what I said?”
“Of course it is!” Bridger hissed. He nervously glanced at the guard posted outside but he either didn’t hear or didn’t care. “Colin I told you. You can’t say things like that. They can hear you.”
“So? I mean, I knew that but I didn’t think--”
“No. You didn’t. Look the facility isn’t how you think it is. Not everything is meant to be good for us.”
Yeah, he got that. But why? “What’s the point?”
Bridger sighed and looked Colin in the eyes. Had he always looked so tired, or was it just because they were arrested for seemingly no reason?
“Have you ever tried to fight back?” Bridger asked, so quiet Colin almost didn’t hear him.
“No. I haven’t.”
“It’s never even crossed your mind right? They don’t want it to.”
“Who doesn’t?”
“The guards. The doctors, the Administration. Humans don’t want it to cross our minds. We’re the only reason a lot of them are alive. They can’t have us leave. So they make it impossible.”
Colin’s eyebrows furrowed. “Impossible? How?”
“Where are we Colin? Right now. Tell me where we are.”
“Yeah okay I get it.” He sighed and leaned back, staring at the camera in the corner of the cell. Actually there was a camera in two corners. Great.
He’d never fought back. Bridger was right, the thought had never crossed his mind. Colin had tried and tried to convince himself that he enjoyed what he was doing, that it was heroic and made him a better person. For the most part he’d succeeded because he did know that being a Crop helped people.
Why did he think that they could leave if they wanted? That they could just opt out of all they were meant for? Outside of Harvest Facilities, Crops meant nothing. Someone like Colin? He’d be totally and completely worthless out there.
But how was he supposed to know that the thoughts weren’t even allowed?
The office doors opened and none other than the Administrator herself walked in.
———————————–
Bridger had met the Administrator once, just like most other Crops, when he graduated from school. Just a quick handshake and a ‘Congratulations’ and he was on his way. It was exciting at the time. She helped run every single thing in Rockmire Hills, which held tens of thousands of Crops. It was one of the biggest Facilities in the country, so it was not a light job to take on.
Yet she never showed a single indication that it stressed her in the slightest.
She walked into the office, smiling and greeting the guards and officers like they were old friends. Her short heels clacked loudly against the floor, demanding her presence be known.
Bridger stood up immediately, and Colin followed soon after, head lowered and eyebrows furrowed.
“Ah, these are the little troublemakers?” she asked. Her voice sounded warm. It scared Bridger.
“Yes, Madam. Bridger and Colin Sharpe,” the guard answered.
“Which one’s which?”
Bridger lifted his gaze to see the woman standing before them was staring he and his brother down, expecting them to answer. He cleared his throat. “I’m Bridger, Madam. My brother is Colin.”
To Bridger’s surprise, Colin kept his head down, just nodding to the Administrator. Maybe he was learning a thing or two about respect. A little late, but still.
“Nice to meet you two. Can we uncuff them please? I don’t want to talk to them while they’re tied up like animals.”
Bridger breathed a sigh of relief when they were finally uncuffed. Maybe she’ll help us. This will be good for us.
The Administrator brought in a chair and gestured for the brothers to sit, doing the same. She crossed her legs, sighing and shaking her head good-naturedly.
“So, Sharpes, I understand that you have been saying some pretty disturbing things today. What exactly is this about?”
They both stayed quiet. Bridger cleared his throat again, wiping his hands on his pants and glancing up at the Administrator.
“Nothing really,” he said quietly. “Just a misunderstanding Colin had. It won’t happen again, I’ll make sure of it.”
She smiled. “This is your second offense, Bridger. No?”
He swallowed, the weight of Colin’s stare heavy against him. “That’s correct, Madam.”
“And now your brother is following in your footsteps. Not really a good dynamic to have. Don’t you think?”
“Excuse me--”
No, shut up!
“What do you mean this is Bridger’s second offense? What did he do?”
The Administrator raised an eyebrow, leaning forward. “You hadn’t heard? Well it’s good to know your brother can follow some rules. Let’s just say this wasn’t his first thought of insurrection.”
“Insurrection?”
“It’s not important right now, Colin --”
“I’d say it is,” the Administrator interrupted. “I’d say it’s important and very very concerning. A first offense is rare and upsetting enough, but a second? And getting your brother involved too? Extremely concerning, Bridger Sharpe.”
“I’m sorry, Madam.” Bridger’s blood pressure wouldn’t stop rising. He thought he would pass out. Or throw up. Or both. He wanted to go home. “I -- I promise this will never happen again.”
“No. It won’t.” The smile didn’t fall from her face, the warm tone never turned cold and calculating like Bridger thought it would. She stayed cheerful and welcoming and understanding. It was sickening. “You need to understand why we don’t tolerate these things. We cannot have Crops with your … ideals tainting the culture here at Rockmire Hills. Such a thing is just unacceptable. Do you understand?”
Bridger felt himself nod. Colin shook his head.
“Well. You’re officially under arrest. You’ll be booked and charged. And…” she turned to the guard behind her. “I’m so sorry your name has escaped me.”
“Henson, Madam.”
“Of course. Forgive me. Henson here will take you two to the basement until more long term plans are made.”
They sat in stunned silence. They were being charged? Taken away? What was the basement? What did she mean long term plans?!
The guard - Henson - walked into the cell and began to cuff them again.
“What - what about our parents?” Colin asked as his arms were wrenched behind him. “We’re all they have.”
“Oh.” She brought her hand up to her chin and stared off as if in deep thought. “I suppose they’ll just have to live with the disappointment.”
Bridger had never seen such fear in Colin’s eyes.
