It's easy to get the impression that Tetsuji never cared enough to rein in Riko's behaviour and temper but I think it's the opposite. I think Riko grew up constantly being told stuff like, "You have to learn to control your temper" and, "Is that any way to behave?" by Tetsuji. I think Tetsuji would have even disciplined him harshly every time he was caught acting out of anger. But all that is coming from Tetsuji - the man who would beat a kid if they displeased him in any way. How can you ever really take to heart the words of someone who demonstrates the exact opposite of what they preach? How are you supposed to not learn that the real lesson is, "Become the one who has all the power over everyone else and you will never have to suffer criticism for how you behave ever again."

do people not realise that being in an extremely traumatic situation can cause you to dissociate because you're so overwhelmed and shocked by what's happening? People say Helaena's reaction was 'underwhelming' or she should've fought tooth and nail to protect her kids... she was dissociating, she was shocked, she didn't really understand or believe what was happening.

I wanna know so bad with who agatha crossed the road the first timeeee and whooo was the witch that survived at the end!!! was it rio??? im not ready to say it was her for sure bc she asked a few questions that made me think she never crossed it... and also i feel like they would have alluded to it while talking together... so who could it have been? i rly want it to be rio but i just dont know!!!

I am not a psychologist or an expert on the subject, but I am interested in knowing the inspiration behind the after-effects and trauma that occur to Chris (and the rest of the turtle team) that you describe in the fanfic, what was your research/inspiration behind it?

(Sorry if the question is related to a personal experience of yours, it's just curiosity).

Without going into any details, I do struggle with some of the themes I write about in Reprogrammed. The main of which being chronic nightmares. And while no, I was never kidnapped by an animal poacher and brainwashed to do his bidding, I've experienced what it's like to become a different person because of unfortunate circumstances and having to deal with adjusting back into a "normal" life.

Yes, I've also done some research to help with the fic but for the most part I've kinda just been using the knowledge of the topics that I already have and taking inspiration by my own experiences.

Reprogrammed is not by any means a vent-fic or like some secret allegory for my life, I promise. It is just a story I wanted to tell and I'm simply using certain life experiences as a way to help tell that story.

And at least for me personally, it makes me feel a little better that something that negatively affects my life can also be used to write silly fanfictions!

Like oh boy, that's going to impact everything I do for my entire life but hey! at least I made a really cool Wild Kratts fanfiction!

Man, Larian really didn't have to go so hard on Astarion's trauma based identity crisis but I'm glad they did because that shits relatable af. But at the same time, I am absolutely fucking heart broken for him because trying to heal from that trauma and rediscover who you are besides it is so fucking hard I just want to hold him and tell him he's going to be okay.

ITGR writes trauma so well. I just love how when Scarlet came out of the ninth circle of hell, she visibly changed as a person after that. I know the bar for character goes through time skip and is changed as a person is low for me (COUGH lore olympus COUGH) but I just have to appreciate how well written it is? Like she becomes more impulsive and destructive and she does things her earlier self would probably not have done or would've thought more about. She's a lot less openly friendly and is generally more serious and reserved and you can tell being alone in a realm of absolute nothingness but hallucinations and Satan messing with her for 25 years fucked her over. Her entire first conversation with Brook after being saved is so utterly heartbreaking. Seeing her not trust anything just hurts and fuck man, i love this comic so much

i like the occasional whump fic but PTSD is not nearly as common as fandom thinks it is. most people who experience traumatic events don’t develop PTSD at all.
