Hello Writeblr, Nice to Meet You 💛
Jules, 27 they/them Writer, Reader & Artist (most likely autistic & adhd)
I'm currently writing the first draft of my Kass series (all 5 books at once). It's queer dark fantasy packed with generational trauma & enemies to lovers. My goal is to finish by December, then rewrite everything in 2024.
I've been writing since I was small, so I've already finished multiple novels. Just taking my time to sharpen my skills before publishing. There's no real rush 🐌
Miscellaneous facts about me:
I work from home.
My first language is French.
I studied literature in university.
I've read 114 books so far in 2023.
I've been with my romantic partner 7 years.
Share your favourite books, if you think we could vibe! (or your own books, if you're an indie author) I love exploring different genres & always need recommendations.
DMs are always open 💕

I'm new here & would love to make friends~ How do you track your writing? Do you track your writing at all? I used to do it by hand (pictured above) but recently switched to spreadsheets. Still unsure which feels best.

Moth follows the Moon's illuminations Craving-seeking a soul with the same markings, the same reflective scales, the same dark thoughts and desire to rise above
But the string holds the light much too high in the sky and its beating-flapping wings are much too small to reach the right peaks—high enough to see the whole world's secrets
so Moth follows the globular cycle above deep waters full of monsters, unable of letting its strength falter, Forever chasing a rival worthy of combating these night-seas

Twice in a decade I opened up my chest, to show you the deep dark hole inside and Twice in that decade you fled from me to avoid the plummet through its depths Leaving me alone above to weave my nest with insects and moths, critters who do not fear darkness: Those with broken, brittle wings, ugly faces and iridescent shells who chase after moonlight and would not let me fall if I asked to be free

Happy WBW! ^^ If you could bring one thing/person/place/etc. from your wip into the real world, which one would it be and why?
(Also sorry - I thought I was following your account and your wips but for some reason I wasn't?? Anyway happy world-building Wednesday again ^^)
Happy WBW🌙 I'm answering this a couple days late because time doesn't truly exist online 😌💖 (and no need to apologize about following—I didn't notice either!)
The first thing that comes to mind when I consider bringing a thing/person/place from my WIP into the real world is RUBY! But Kassandra would be be heartbroken & hold a deadly grudge against me. Not sure I want that.
Can I bring them both & call them an item? 👀

Listen dear, listen mine, You must always believe in me with all your little beating heart with all these little fingers and toes Your poor old mother is a legendary fairy who has given up throne & everything who has traded robes for rags to become Cinderella for you If your belief in me falters, if you dare forget the secret sacred rules of the kingdom I once ruled & sacrificed, I'll spirit away and refuse to exist in this world of your creation (June 23rd, 2023 in my phone's notes)

Screw Camp NaNo.
I'm entirely capable of writing 40k words in one month (I wrote 50k last April!), but I don't want to do it this July. This is not defeat, just a decision (hopefully the right one)
I want to keep writing slowly. I want to keep reading & playing video games & prioritizing my well-being. I want to take my bird outside to enjoy the summer.
"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." –Confucius
Here’s a regular writing update: my Kass series wordcount has reached 121,132 words in total ✒ The first draft of book 1 is almost complete. Book 2 & 3 & 4 are still in progress. Book 5 went back to the outline stage because of new ideas. Each of them will need a hefty rewrite (since I’m an underwriter & don’t write chronologically) I’m aiming to get the first few books out to betareaders in 2024.

Might write poetry today. Woke up with too many emotions for this vessel to hold... it's either going to come out through tears or ink, but one of them is more advantageous.

July Camp NaNo 2023 — Week 1
Have I mentioned I'm doing Camp NaNo?
I already wrote 50k words in April, but my goal for July is 40k words.
Accountability Update:
Day 1 - Wrote 690 words with my writing group before my freewrite's battery died (my fault, I don't remember the last time I charged it)
Day 2 - Didn't write (procrastinating)
Day 3 - Didn't write (bad day, emotionally)
Day 4 - Wrote 1,342 words before work.
Day 5 - Wrote 668 words.
Day 6 - Didn't write (too tired after work)
Day 7 - Wrote 414 words after work.
July total so far: 2,424 words!
I'm 6,608 words behind, if I want to reach my Camp NaNo goal on time. I'm considering moving my goal to 30k words, if my pace doesn't improve. "Winning" is not the goal anyway: producing words is the goal! I will be happy as long as I keep going without stopping.
This brings my Kass series to a total of 119,369 words.
