I really don't know how to put this into words, but communities like r/homeschoolrecovery, blogs like homeschoolers anonymous, the CRHE as a whole, and free online educational resources like Crash course, the internet archive and wikipedia mean so much to me <3333
#lots of personal yap in the tags#reading some of the posts on r/homeschoolrecovery has made me cry#and the homeschoolers anonymous blog has some really touching stories on there too#and the CRHEs instagram account#one of their older posts about how siblings aren't friends#Or about how its healthy to take time away from your family when you were basically forced to spend 24/7 with them during your childhood#all of these have really helped me put feelings I've had for a long time into words for the first time#ive never felt so seen before#makes me feel less alone#crash course my beloved archive.org my beloved wikipedia my beloved-#I was never really able to go to the library and not having a real teacher figure basically meant I was forced to educate myself by myself#I still feel very far behind#but free online education is a fucking life saver#I'm grateful I was born in an era where I had internet access as a kid#I do not think Id be able to academically function to the level i do if i relied entirely on my mother's home“schooling”#i mean my academics still aren't good but they'd be sooooo much worse if I didn't actively go out of my way to try and educate myself haha#homeschool recovery#homeschool alumni#homeschool critical#ex homeschooler#personal tag#vent in tags#rant in tags#?#not sure if this counts as a vent/rant
