I've been listening to some fanfiction using ReadEra and unfortunately, the robot voice doesn't know what to do with a line break, so it just reads them out like

If anyone is looking for a new book pdf reader app, I reccomend ReadEra. I've used it for close to 3 years now and I have no complaints about it.

Wait, I’m gonna put this here too just in case some other folks don’t know...

If you like to save your favorite fics from Ao3 to read on your phone, I highly recommend saving them as EPUB files, not PDFs. PDFs are huge for one thing, but also aren’t very “flexible” (at least not in most readers I’ve used).

EPUB uses much less memory and allows you to change the font style and size as well as has several “modes” for reading like dark mode and sepia. For reading fic on my phone, I use ReadEra for Android, which is the cleanest yet most versatile reader app I’ve found. It’s also free! But if you feel like supporting the devs and getting a few extra bells ‘n’ whistles like saving quotes from your favorite fics or customizing covers, it’s not terribly expensive (currently I believe it’s $11 USD right now, but it also goes on sale sometimes; I got mine for ~$5).

ReadEra is also pretty nifty not just for allowing you to edit fonts and color, but it also saves your place and has the ability to sort by author, series, collection, and folder. It’s really simple to use and I read a lot more fanfic because of it.

The only downside is that it does make it harder for me and my scattered brain to remember to comment and kudos after reading a fic. So don’t be like me and drag your feet on that! Save the fic, then let the author know how much you loved it!

So anyway au where Eclipse is one of the ordinary daycare crew, just a big and tol good boi who normally who doesn't speak as he doesn't like how loud and scary his voice is due to like a manufacturing error so he signs, helping translate for the deaf/nonverbal kids and maybe doing easy beginner sign language lessons for anyone who wanted to learn

Consider him and y/n having some kind of argument and y/n starting to walk away in a huff or covering their eyes so they can't see what Eclipse is trying to sign, so he picks them up with one set of arms and continues to sign super fast and angrily with the other while y/n is trying not to show how incredibly flustered they are. Like he picks them up often to help them reach things n such but only after making sure they're cool with it a thousand times over since he's self-conscious about how intimidating his height makes him so now it's like they're all powerless and strangely okay with that oh no

Consider also infected Eclipse losing all that shyness and speaking down at y/n in his actual voice, which is enough to rattle the floor. Also also consider he then picks y/n up, though this time he isn't worried at all about being gentle so he gives them a lil squeeze and is like "So fragile... I could crush you right now if you weren't my favorite" . Y/n then has two realizations: one: they're his favorite, whatever that might mean (oblivious idiot trope my love), and two: has a I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me moment (too late it did and they'll now be thinking about it long after Eclipse is cured oh n o )

Can I request any (young justice) Squad x aromantic asexual reader (in a soulmate au if possible) where the reader is aroace but hasn't come out yet! Maybe everyone (robin, m'gann, Aqualad, wally, Jaime, Bart, Connor, etc.) feel really bad because she hasn't found her soulmate yet so they try to help her find him or her. The reader starts getting annoyed and upset but won't tell them why so they think she is just really sad about it. One day they all bring up how much they're trying and the reader gets mad and tells them to stop, but they still don't get it so they are so confused until reader calms down and explains to them that she doesn't ever want to meet her soulmate becuase to her it's a curse where the world is basically saying "Even though you don't want it, there is one person made specifcally for you!"

(reader's personality is really confident and usually sociable and snarky, but also kind and gentle)

"Ooooo~ Nice dress Y/n? Got a date?" Megan's voice rang out through the common room where most of the team sat, previously talking to each other. You shook your head, "No, I'm just trying a new style." You shrugged with a slightly forced smile. "She doesn't have her soulmate remember?" Conner said from beside Megan, obviously attempting to lower his tone so that you couldn't hear. Though, it was pointless when Megan gasped loudly, her head shooting in his direction before her eyes snapped back to you. "You still haven't found them yet?!" She practically yelled and your forced smile turned into a grimace at her tone. You shook your head with a chuckle, attempting to lighten the mood. "No- but it's fine! I'm fine! I swear- now if you'll excuse me I'll be on my way." You spoke quickly before you exited the common room.

A silence fell over the group after you departed. “Did she seem fine to you guys?” Wally spoke up after a while, a chorus of no’s strung from everyone in the room. “Well of course she’s not ok! She hasn’t found her soulmate yet!” Megan sighed, a frown finding it’s way on her face. “I know I’d be sad if everyone around me had theirs and I didn’t find mine.” She leaned into Conner as she said this and he rubbed her shoulder in support, her frown turning into a pout at the contact. “Maybe we should help her look?” Robin’s voice cut in and Megan gasped again. “Ooooo that’s a great idea!” “Is it though?” Jaime added, “maybe we shouldn’t go meddling in her love life guys- soulmates are supposed to happen…naturally!” Jaime spoke though everyone just shook his words off. “As if! She’s not even trying to find her soulmate she just gets depressed whenever you ask!” Bart said with a roll of his eyes, “it’s obvious she needs a little push.” “She’s not really the shy type though,” Aqualad spoke up for the first time since you left, his eyes were trained on the hallways in which you exited from. “If she wanted to find her soulmate so badly she’d just go out and find them.” He shrugged, closing his eyes and looking down as he spoke. Wally let out a laugh as he shook his head, “yeah sure maybe- but she’s cooped up all day at base half the time so who’s she gonna meet that’s new?” Wally questioned, holding his arms up in a shrugging position. “Absolutely nobody.” “Exactly.” “Ok! Then it’s settled, we’re gonna help her look for her soulmate!” Megan cheered causing Conner to smile at her, Jaime and Aqualad shared a look that said ‘this is gonna turn out horribly’ and oh how right they were.

They started off with small stuff that’s arguably not small at all. Like setting you up on dating apps to help people find their soulmate and not telling you until you got a match. They’d force you to meet strangers whenever you went out and would constantly place you in stupidly cliche scenarios. Like bumping into you at the mall and making your bags drop as you crash into someone. Of course, nothing happened, you didn’t gain a soulmate from stumbling into someone randomly. All you got were apologetic looks as you scrambled to pick up your bags, your friends hopeful smiles turning into frowns when they realized nothing had happened. Part of you knew what they were doing but you wanted to brush it off as best you could. Maybe they’d get the hint and would stop trying. But they didn’t, if anything their efforts got even more extreme. Before, Megan or Wally used to run up to you after you got a match on the dating app and show you the person, you’d always deny that you wanted to go with them. Using the excuse that, “it doesn’t feel right” to really get out of it. But soon they stopped telling you and would just trick you into going to a diner where some random person would greet you saying they had a nice time talking to you for the past week or so! You’d always apologize for your friends actions but you’d never really say why, it’d be embarrassing to admit what your friends are doing and it’d be even more embarrassing for your so called date.

After being tricked to go on five different dates with five different people, all of them being unsuccessful in their efforts to find your soulmate for you, you were fed up with your friends. Which led to now, where you’re all having an argument in the common room. “I don’t get it! We’re just trying to get you out there!” Megan spoke, she just suggested another date for you and this time you couldn’t take it. “I don’t want to put myself out there! I-“ “I know, we know, it’s supposed to happen naturally or whatever.” Wally cut you off with a sigh, “it’s just, you always look so sad whenever we mention soulmates or whenever your dates are unsuccessful! We’re just trying to help!” Some yeah’s and nods of agreement came after that sentence and you could feel your blood boil from the pressure you were under. “I don’t want help!” You finally yelled out, silencing everyone in the room. Jaime grimaced as he glanced to Aqualad before looking back towards you. “God I hate this stupid world! And all of these stupid soulmates!” You ranted, your hands flying around as you spoke. You could almost cry right now, you get why they were bring so pushy but it didn't help the way you felt about their actions at all. "Hey its ok, we know it can feel a bit unfair when everyone around you has their soulmate and you don't." Robin spoke, and once again everyone seemed to nod in agreement with his statement. All of their eyes held sympathy as they stared at you and you hated it. "You don't get it at all obviously because that's not what I'm talking about!" "Then what do you mean? How can we help you Y/n?" Conner asked and you rolled your eyes. "I don't need you guy's help because I don't want to find my soulmate!" "What?!" Megan yelled and you crossed your arms with a sigh, calming yourself down. You spoke quieter this time, though you kept your tone firm, "I don't want to find my soulmate. I'm- I'm ace ok? And I hate that even if you don't want it someone out there is just made for you." You huffed, looking away from the group as their silence filled the room. You could practically hear the gears turning in their heads as your words really sunk in. You heard Megan question what 'ace' meant and heard someone whisper to her the general meaning, causing her to gasp slightly. Feeling a hand on your shoulder, you looked back up and saw Jaime with an apologetic look. "Y/n.." "We're so sorry!" Megan cut him off, "We didn't know.." She looked down as did Wally, "Yeah sorry." He added and started a chain reaction as everyone in the room apologized to you individually.

With a sigh you shook your head to clear your thoughts as you chose your next words carefully. "Its....alright, just don't do it again. Ever." They all nodded, "Of course we'd never do it again now that we know you're uncomfortable with it." "Yeah, that wasn't our intention at all, sorry." You let out a half-hearted chuckle, glad that they weren't questioning why you didn't want love. You still had to explain a bit deeper, mostly to Megan, about your aroace perspective and what that meant exactly but after all they did, listening to you was the bare minimum. At least they were supportive of how you wanted to live your life, and after that day they never asked you about finding your soulmate ever again.

Previous part  | Next Part -------------------------------------| After Xavier left you took a sip of the water, a part of you hated how you could look at the window and see the outside from it, yet you could not even touch it due to the chains. With Xavier just leaving after you asked if you could be let go it made the hope of leaving this place any time soon die out rather quickly, but since Xavier left, and you doubted that he would return any time soon you decided to at least walk around the room where you could go with the chains around your legs and arms. You realized that there would be a reason for this part of the room to be more bare as you went through all the cases that already happened before you got caught in your mind and remember that a nevermore kid died out there, and if there was already a bed here then there was a chance that you were just tied to a bed where a now deceased kid slept on and the thought disturbed you. As you sat back down and drank the rest of the water you heard the doorknob turn and as you looked at the door opening you saw two unfamiliar females walking into the room. One of them had black sunglasses on her face while the other had piercing blue eyes, you felt unnerved by the two of them, only now realizing that Xavier had also multiple times had said We which probably included the two females who just walked in without a care in the world.

What you did not realize that while you were knocked out for a couple of hours the Nightshades took turn watching over you, all of them slowly getting more obsessed with every minute they spend at your side.    It had got to the point where they started to dig up old information and stalked your social media’s to get a grip on your likes and dislikes and what your personality is like, they already had a group chat before this, but that group chat basically went from casual friend business to a group chat dedicated about you and what you were doing. So when Xavier had messaged them with the fact that you were awake and the information he had got, Yoko and Divina could just not help themselves and want to see you awake for the first time.  The two girls also bringing some food as they knew that by now you would start to get hungry, and they also brought something else to drink other than water (even if it was drugged, so you would go back to sleep) You looked away after a few minutes of staring at the two girls in complete silence, it was like they were not fully prepared for you to be awake (at least in your eyes).  In reality the two girls were amazed at how you looked when you were awake, of course they disliked the obvious fear and distrust in your eyes but at least now they could see what you looked like awake, and it was very different then when you were peacefully asleep. “We thought you might be hungry, so we got some food and something else to drink besides water” Yoko said as Divina brought the plate of food towards you, you accepted it of course, you were not one to pass on free food especially when you were getting hungry due to the lack of eating. You did eat slower than usual once you actually started to eat, it was a simple dish of mashed potato’s and a steak, but you were not complaining about it as it tasted quite good actually, you did think about keeping the knife to yourself but as you were done eating the girl with shades (Yoko)  took the utensils back from you along with the now empty plate. It did disturb you that the two girls just watched you eat in silence as if you would do something if they looked away for just one second. “I don’t think we have introduced ourselves yet, my name is Divina and the girl next to me is Yoko, she's an amateur misologist who makes a killer virgin mojito maybe you can taste it one next time” Divina said with a grin on her face, she still currently had her amulet on as to not get off on the wrong foot by using her siren song on their shared obsession immediately after meeting her.   Yoko just grinned, her fangs being noticeable when she did, when Divina mentioned her skills.  The entire group had already talked about how they would handle their shared obsession after they noticed that everyone in the group had fallen hard for them, the most noticeable one was that they agreed with a punishment reward system.  So that if their obsession was obedient or at least listening to them, they would get more things, mostly stuff to decorate their side of the shared room with Xavier, but it could also be like hangouts at night when they have figured out how to sneak out their obsession and how to make their obsession unable to escape. “.....My names (y/n), I would say it's nice to meet you but….these circumstances are not ideal” You said after a while, you could have been more hostile but because you barely knew these two girls and the fact that you really don’t want to cause any more hostile arguments today you decided to hold the comments to yourself for the most part. “It will get better with time properly….It’s just that it was very unnerving for a normie to just break into nevermore with ease” Yoko said, and it was true, it was very unnerving for a normie to have broken into nevermore. However, by now they would have released who ever they had help captive after a good scare to make sure they won’t run their mouth on how to get in and to make sure they would never break into nevermore again. “Do you want something else to drink besides water? We have some cola if you want it” Divina said, giving you the glass that was filled with cola after you nodded.  When you drank you looked away from them, finding the stares of the two girls unnerving but that made you miss the smirks the two girls gave each other when you drank the glass in one go. The two girls tried to make small talk with you, like asking about your hobby’s and such, however it was getting harder and harder to answer their question.  You started to hear a consistent ringing in your ears before you started to feel faint, you tried to sit yourself up straight or at least in a different position so that you could hopefully feel better, but your limbs felt really heavy and not short after you passed out. The two girls did feel bad that they had spiked the drink they gave you, but they knew that it was just necessary to get you to stay weak physically without it being because of dehydration or malnourishment.   They cleaned up what they brought to Xavier's room before returning and watching you sleep for a while, doing homework and cuddling each other on the chairs that they had placed on your side of the room.  It would make it easier for the rest of the group to watch over you too, they got more comfortable chairs than the ones that Xavier already had in his room to begin with
