Obsessed with Faber, he’s so fun to think about because i just imagine the “there’s two wolves inside of me” of Faber except it’s the hyper competent part and then the self-imploding part that’s always struggling inside him. Need to create a whole new program for work. Easy. let me learn a whole new skill. Need to navigate an interpersonal relationship. Easy, let me choose to make this interaction so terrible everyone including myself hates me 😃

All jokes aside I love Faber so much and I slide from wanting to hug him or (gently) shake him by the shoulders. Whenever Caleb negs him though I want to shake Caleb by the shoulders because my friend that was so uncalled for, Faber is already down for the count, there’s no need to a kick a man while he’s at his lowest…

When great witch of the world was making Faber he went to pour in a few drops of hyper-competence at work into the cauldron and accidentally lost the whole vial, and then got so mad forgot to put in any relationship competence in at all. Not even a single drop.

Thankfully Efnisien exists, and his answer is to just be like 'oh no poor Faber needs someone to be friends with and make him talk and open up to me.' Faber looks on in horror but...he's gonna talk anyway :D

Caleb on the other hand does need a good shake.

Look Caleb also being a disaster with Faber is why Underline the Red will be a polyamorous OT3! We need a third party to keep both of them in line, lol.

As if it wasn't alarming coming home to an invasion of his privacy and space, but to a mess in the kitchen that would take hours to clean. Bucky stands in the entry to the kitchen and tries to mask the offense and consider what is actually happening.

It's a peace offering.

Which still leaves him wondering if this is going to end with him being poisoned in some way. But he crosses the space anyways, putting his gun on the shelf as he passes and frees himself of his jacket that is left draped over a chair.

"Let me see." He grabs the spoon, and when he raises it to his lips, he smells first - no almonds, that's a good sign - and finally puts it in his mouth. It's bland. He knows what it needs but to say it could be considered of great insult. So he says it anyways, "It needs salt."

Thinking about Caleb “I-use-people’s-full-names-to-show-intimacy” Widogast and the way he calls Veth “Veth the Brave.” It’s not all the time—it’s rarely used, actually, saved for specific moments, only when he’s using the fondest of tones, with the most admiration, and how calling her that is more intimate than just “Veth Brenatto.” Because Veth the Brave is both of her identities. It’s Nott and it’s Veth, it’s their co-mingling, it’s her in her entirety. Veth the Brave. That’s why it’s so intimate, because he is speaking to all of who she is

Idk man thinking about Caleb and Astrid and breakdowns. How the one time we see her have a breakdown it's so neat and quiet and private in contrast to Caleb's messy, public, even violent breakdowns. Do you think she looks down on him for not being able to control it? Do you think she resents him because Trent still wants him back even after all of it and she could never get away with something like that (does the specter of the hysterical woman keep her up at night)? Does she envy him because that's what freed him? And does that just cause the resentment to pile even higher because she could never allow herself to fall to pieces like that? Because someone has to stay in control. Someone has to keep it together.

I am once again knitting which means I'm back to the Nein rewatch and happened to be on Midnight Espionage, and truly INSANE episode. The egg dick, both break-ins, the Zauber Spire attack, and the first time a beacon is on screen in like four hours flat. Trent Ikithon is there. The episode ends with Liam and Marisha yelling, "TRUST THE PORN."

I occasionally see posts/get messages about the various harry potter references in the bright sessions, etc. and I've gotten a bunch of new followers recently so just so any new/younger listeners of my shows know:

jk rowling is a terrible transphobe whom I hold zero respect for and I haven't given a dime of my money to her since she revealed who she truly is. I want the whole bright universe to be a safe space for trans people (including the trans folks in our cast and crew!) and if I could go back and remove those references, I would. but I can't! harry potter was an extremely significant part of my life until...well, until it became very clear who she really was. it makes me so sad to think that folks might be finding TBS now and get thrown out of the story by these references, but just know that the people who made the show do not stand by jk, and that in many ways, the show is a product of its time.

Bucky isn't deaf to the implication he leave, nor does he have the intention to. It makes him equally frustrating and annoying - and were roles reversed, it would also cause his calm demeanor to slip in favor of anger and rage. It would make him want to fight and break and tear. To D E S T R O Y in the only way he knows how. Would Caleb throw a tantrum? He didn't know, but he was ready for the fight if he did.

also this has been on my mind since a few people in the tag have been posting about C2 rewatches but it's really fun for me that Imogen, Fjord, and Caleb all considered leaving the party, the first two specifically because they thought they might endanger the others. Charismatic casters in Critical Role be like "I might be the problem."

it's so funny to me that caleb and veth really did just trade off the job of intensely pining for the other at like the halfway point of the campaign. like, imo, nott in the early days did not behave in any real romantic or even romance-adjacent ways toward him--I imagine it would be very hard to even think in that way when you hate what you look like so much, have such low self-esteem, and are actively lying about your entire past, including a secret husband. caleb, on the other hand, is kind of diving directly back into the sort of relationship he had with astrid and eadwulf. very close, very intimate, we-huddled-for-warmth-together-and-oops-it-led-to-something-else sort of thing. he is the one who expresses that he's fine with it if people think he and nott are romantically together when they're talking to keg. nott is the one who pushes back on that. he calls her his life partner. unknowingly, he compares his feelings for nott to nott's feelings for yeza. his behavior only really starts to change after he finds out about veth's husband because suddenly all of that other stuff is rendered inappropriate in retrospect. but even then he compliments her to yeza over dinner in the most awkward of ways, he admits to being jealous, he calls yeza "a lucky man" to have her, he stares at veth and yeza closed bedroom door for far too long, he creates an entire arcane tower with room for her family just so she'll stay with him. in general, his behavior is not, um, totally and completely platonic about it, you know?

like, veth's feelings for caleb are canonical and therefore indisputable in their existence, but caleb in the early days was not that dissimilar to how veth was acting near the end of the campaign. it really paints a picture of "right person, wrong time" in the way things just didn't line up for them. or, as veth would say: "in another world, maybe"

I've seen a lot of shows with lackluster finale, but never has the finale of a show actively ruined the rest of the series for me like Watching and Dreaming
