I let go of my massage office at the end of June. Reflecting back on what led me to this moment regarding my massage career has been an absolute trip. Letting go of owning my own space has been a massive step towards transitioning careers. I've got 2 more years until I'm finally an RDH... but letting go of owning my own space has been a huge wake-up call that this is all slowly piecing itself together. Luckily, I was blessed with the opportunity to share space with two other MTs and will be able to continue practicing massage while I'm in dental school. i also think its interesting that the word we get "dominion" from is רָדָה (RDH) which could be read as "to rule" as in to regulate but also to "chastise" as in to impart our own idea of what is right and wrong through harshness and judgement into the mind of another; though it could be read instead through the lens of its primitive root which meant to tread down, to crumble off specifically, or to take bread out from the oven which i'm assuming is a metaphor for completion aka return to death. the word also means to scrape, as in to scrape out, as in to make hollow, to empty. another thread to mention is that r = 200; d = 4; h = 5; and 200 + 4 + 5 = 209 which is the same numerical sum as the word RZB, to disperse, scatter, rout, as in to drive out, and the word ZBR: to cut or pierce as in sever a connection.

Do you (or anyone for that matter) know how bad vaping is for teeth? (Yes, I know I shouldn't do it, but addiction is addiction and I am working on quitting.) As best as I can figure, I shouldn't after brushing and should rinse my mouth out after, but is there anything else I should be doing, or any information about negative dental effects aside from cancer and disease associated with smoking/nicotine?

So I've been sitting on this a while, since I didn't know and had to do a little bit of internet searching. The first thing to remember is that vaping is pretty new and there's not a tonne of research that's been done on it. But all the research that has been coming out in general is that vaping isn't great for you. You already know the issues with addictions so I won't get into it.

I did find a couple of articles. Here are some snippets with sources.

Nicotine, whether smoked or vaped, restricts blood flow to the gums, which can contribute to periodontal disease. The fluid in e-cigarettes, which can include propylene glycol, benzene, formaldehyde and other chemicals, only increases the risks. A study published earlier this year in the journal iScience showed that 43% of people using e-cigarettes had gum disease and oral infections. That figure was higher among smokers – 73% – but only 28% among people who neither smoked nor vaped. "The oral cavity is really resilient tissue that heals faster than other parts of the body," Stinson said. "But we also know that when you repeatedly traumatize it, that's when you end up having issues that are irreversible." Those issues, she added, range from inflammation and tooth cavities to loss of bone that anchors teeth to the jaw, called periodontitis, and oral cancer. (Source: American Heart Association)

Several oral health issues have been associated with vaping, including: Dry mouth: Dry mouth (xerostomia) can be caused by irritants in e-cigarette aerosols. Saliva is essential for safeguarding oral tissues and overall oral health. Reduced saliva can heighten the risk of dental issues such as dental caries, periodontal disease, and oral infections. Periodontal disease: A study published in 2016 found that e-cigarette users were more likely to exhibit signs of periodontal disease compared to nonusers.5 According to Jităreanu et al., there is evidence that vaping changes the oral microbiome, leading to an overgrowth of pathogens and loss of beneficial bacteria. This leaves the patient more susceptible to oral disease.6 Tooth decay: The combination of dry mouth and exposure to harmful chemicals can contribute to dental caries. The lack of saliva makes it easier for decay-causing bacteria to thrive, leading to an increased risk of dental caries. Oral lesions: Some research indicates a potential connection between vaping and oral lesions, with vaping causing tissue damage that elevates inflammation and, in conjunction with DNA damage from e-cigarette chemicals, raises the risk of oral cancers. Definitely poses issues for your overall oral health. So I guess please be diligent with your oral care. As much as you can be, and you already know, that if possible, to try and quit vaping and nicotine overall. Which is of course, much easier said than done.

it'd be fangedfolk, since they're canine (dogs) and are most attracted to the humans'…hm , simplicity and openness, i suppose you could say? and possibly treefolk (primates). i based my beastfolks' basic common grounds with irl animals, as canines are pack animals and dogs are more emotionally connected to us. as for primates, humans have evolutionary connections, similar social intelligence, and the shared abilities to solve problems and such.

that said, while fangedfolk are the most likely to have a human "companion", they are also most likely to have a poly pack with their human. whiskeredfolk (feline) are probably in the top-middle of that list, if we were to have a most-to-least likely ranking, with toothedfolk (rodents) due to their prey/nervous natures and seafolks (aquatic) on how dangerous/rare they are to communicate with, at the very bottom. the reason why i feel the whiskeredfolk being in the top-middle is that they can be fairly arrogant and being independent, but adores the complete attention their human can give them and how easily they are to manipulate.

that said, this is extremely generalized list, since the list is not really factoring in specific sub-groups under these categories, such as lions being social animals and are more likely to acquire a human lover, cheetahs more likely to need a service human pet to help with their anxieties, maned wolf being solitary type, etc. and other facets, like countries/areas, cultures, when/which eras, political affiliations, etc.

This is not a good situation to be trapped in. My roommate is actively contemplating unaliving and if they do I'm gonna be homeless, and if this is the situation, it would be with a dog, a cat, and no car to get to help. I don't know for sure that that's what's wrong but it's serious enough my car is having issues shifting gears. I'm already only earning $500/month down from $800/month at work because disability issues have been getting worse (but still no SSI). On $500/month total income it'll be awhile before I can repair a transmission.

Update: yes, it's the transmission. It's enough I'll just need to get a different older vehicle, considering the repairs would be like, twice the blue book value for my car. This is half of what I make in a year, and the USDA RDH my current housing is under might also end six months to a year and a half from now. That's enough warning to kind of apply for section 8, but that is ALSO scary because I'd feel even more trapped into living here when I do want to move to a safer state. Kansas is dangling by a gorram thread and despite protecting Roe in popular vote isn't where one wants to be if the Project 2025 shit hits the fan. I have more personal reasons too but... ugh.
