One of the most common remarks made by those who want to belittle the film RW&RB is to deplore the fact that the email licks are caused by a so called "jealousy" rather than a political machination as in the book. 🙄

Still, it's rather surprising to attach so much importance to it as if the original book were a first-rate political thriller.

The same could be said for those who think the film overlooks Alex's sexual questioning. The book is not a gender study, and the section devoted to bisexuality is superficial. 🥴

But above all, this approach to Miguel Ramos' motivations from the sole angle of jealousy shows a poor reading of the film's plot, and a poor understanding of human nature as well as of American political history (the Monica Lewinsky affair didn't start out of conspiracy). 

It's clear that Miguel Ramos harbours sexual attraction towards Alex and that may have developed into resentment over time. 

However, what we see in the movie is not dictated by jealousy but by ambition. As we hear in their first two meetings, Ramos concern is to get political scoops. 

When Alex informs Nora that he's had sex with the reporter, she reacts as if Alex has made some rookie mistake, because she knows full well that Miguel is a potential pain in the ass. 

One might even imagine that Ramos approached Alex the first place to get closer to power as much as sucking his dick 😷

It also shows that Alex was still quite reckless at this point in the film.

At the White House gala, Ramos does not hesitate to put a little pressure on Alex by letting him know that he is formidable in his investigations. We don't know his political views, but clearly he's not there to make it easy for Democrats.

Besides, if his objective had been simply to flirt with Alex, he would not have harassed the president's re-election campaign as he does. This is not the best way to rekindle with a lost crush. In fact, in the end, that's even why Alex lets him know he's an asshole.

When he sees Alex and the Prince, in a place where the latter has nothing to do, he is in the best position to understand what is going on between the two of them and he sets out to find out. 🔬

Then he seeks to exploit it as a political stunt, for his own fame, rather than just out of jealousy.

This film is Alex and Henry love story and it focuses on the two protagonists and leaves out the cumbersome details.

Like, when Alex flies to London he does so using his air miles and yet, when he returns in the US, he is on a private plane. It is not said in the film, but the plane is chartered by Henry at his expense.

It may very well be that Ramos actually works for the Republicans. The only thing that matters is that it helps ending the movie without taking screen time to Henry and Alex.

Unfortunately I don't have pets, but I do take care of a lot of plants.

Fave drivers: Lando because I like his attitude, his skills, and his personality in general. Alonso because I started watching F1 because of him. I actually enjoy a lot seeing most of the current drivers.

Fave drivers not in the grid: I miss seeing Jenson Button and Mark Webber.

Fave pairings: Carlando ofc. And Landoscar is a very nice addition. I find the Lestappen content very cute too.

Attracted to: it doesn't say if current or not but I fancied Jenson a lot.

Fave personality: Lando as I mentioned earlier, I also like Alex a lot, he seems like a super nice guy irl. Valtteri is super cool too.

No tbh. Football is my favourite sport, always has and always will be. I grew up with it and dont think it can be dethroned. F1 is definitely up there but i have sooo many things to learn still. Those 2 are the only ones i actively follow every week and the ones i cancel plans for lmao.

Im gonna say seb because i love him dearly dearly dearly and i actually saw him race. I havent been into f1 for too long so i obviously know him more but michael is michael right. Zee goat zee face nails hair hips heels of the sport i dont have to explain

Im gonna say Alex cause care about him A LOT!!!!!! I think he is VERY good and in the right set of circumstances hes def race winner material. It would be just chefs kiss considering all he went through in rb and being dropped for a year. Imagine him winning a race in a williams.....wasnt their last win the pastor maldonado one? lmao

About the alex article I sent. I do think his use of the word karma was misguided and it does imply that lewis deserved bad karma, but really reading the quote/article I just dont think he meant it like that bc he wasn’t really discussing lewis/merc at all (but I can see and respect how others may disagree with this). And although there wasn’t really “luck” in masi’s idiotic decision, there was luck in latifi crashing and causing the safety car in the first place, or in masi not making lewis adequately close the gap to max/let max pass at the beginning of the race, which gave rb startegic upper hand. Or even luck in that bottas had an old engine that led to him having a poor quali/race start and made him unable to help lewis. And he only said max deserved the championship, not that lewis didn’t. As in his instagram post, hes worked very closely with the entire team this year and thinks they deserve it because of all the hard work they put in, just like any merc employee would think lewis deserved the championship because they know all the hard work merc put in this year

To summarize, he shouldn’t have used the word karma, but I’m not sure why people are calling for him to be fired/cancelling him or whatever just because williams has a merc engine. There are people on the grid who deserve their seats far less than him if we’re talking being problematic (imo)

I've never had issues with Albon until now, although I did call out the fact that Williams was picking a redbull affiliated driver for their seat when there are drivers like Nyck out there... I don't think it's a good thing to have a rbr driver in a car with a merc engine, especially starting a new era, but that's my opinion.

F1 will always have paid drivers as long as it stands like this so I'm not getting into the debate of 'there are currently drivers who deserve their seat less than him'. Because yeah, I agree, but that's another topic.

I might be too hard on him, maybe, but after how redbull has been treating Lewis this season, and how insufferable and class-less they have been since winning, I'm upset and the fact he did use 'karma' triggered my rage 🤷‍♀️
