It was a nice day, at least. The sun was shining, and a pleasant breeze whistled along the mountain pass. Even the wild Pokémon seemed to be enjoying it- despite their usual aggression, the Houndour were just lazing around, and actually seemed to be willing to leave them be, for once. “We ran into the Ogre last night,” his new travelling companion said, finally breaking the silence, and Kieran froze. “W-What?”

...So. It's been a while. Sorry about that. Burnout has been kicking my ass for the last eighteen-odd months.

I finally wrote a thing again. A small thing, but a thing nonetheless. It's Pokémon's Teal Mask DLC, not any of the fandoms most of you follow me for, but the plot makes me kinda wanna slap someone so. I guess this is the consequence.

If you don't know the plot of TM, this... probably won't make sense. I don't know. My brain isn't really operating correctly, so I can't put myself in your position right now.

I don't know when I'll write again, but it probably won't be Hermitcraft. Sorry. Hyperfixations change, y'know? ...Yeah, I wish LPAU wasn't unfinished, too. I hope I'll be able to come back to it someday.

Just so you guys are aware- Generik's doing the same thing he did around the start of season 8, except now he seems to have actual player models in the game now? As far as I know, none of the hermits have said anything yet, so it might be true but I personally have my doubts, considering what happened last time.

Just... be on the lookout if this is something that could be bad for you, folks.

And don't forget it's a spectrum! Ren goes HAM on the roleplaying when he wants to, whereas I'm 99% sure Joe is just Like That. Impulse was transported back to Alpha via time machine and had a run-in with Herobrine while TFC was just. Digging. And digging. And digging. Not everyone participates in the storylines!

I remember my introduction to Hermitcraft was Season 5 Mumbo- there was fairly little 'story' going on, just ridiculous farms, circular pumpkins and mustachioed cacti. But this was the same season where four people got eaten by a jungle, two people sold their souls and pranked the server, and the basically-naked-totally-not-Zedaph-person befriended the admin's allegedly evil clone.

So if someone's introduction to hermitcraft was someone like XB, Gem or Stress- someone who doesn't tend to lean into the rp as much- it's possible that that set the tone of what HC is to them, and they're having trouble breaking out of that mindset.

It's also possible that this person is just being an ass, in which case I recommend reminding them that Ren does not get possessed by weird evil entities every other week irl, unfollow/block them, and move on with your life.

That's just my two cents, anyway.

Okay, ik I've sent you a lot of asks already, but how do you deal with someone who just. Refuses to acknowledge that the hermits play characters sometimes. Because I'm getting mad at someone but I'm trying not to anon hate because it's bad. -☯️

Say something like "oh yeah i forgot that Grian is an orphan queer time traveler with a husband and an ex-enby cryptid lover. I forgot that the actual doctor man is a green cyborg with goat horns who is both a tax collector and a mad scientist that created a magical portal just to give a tour of something to his pals"

like . . .no they're not in serious roleplay mode the entire time, but they ARE, characters. they're playing characters.

Iskall refers to his as a character, one that is genderless. Grian as said "oh I need to get my character over there". there's whatever the fuck Ren got going on. they're characters ! they play characters and fuck around and have weird little ocs !!

So I, for some reason I am yet to understand, have spent a signifigant amount of time in my life skimming through three seasons of Zloy's Truly Bedrock series and compiled every single one in which his sentient shop AI/robot child Alice has been constructed, made an attempt to communicate, has undergone character development, and otherwise generally appeared.

(I've also dug through random Lyarrah vids but I'm pretty sure I've missed something in S3 so If anyone can point me to that I'd appreciate it)

If you want context for who and what Alice is, what their personality is like, and/or how they came to be, this playlist should be a starting point! I'll also do my best to keep this up to date.

Do bear in mind that Zloy has a habit of doing multiple things per video, So in a lot of cases the Alice bit might be right at the end or partway through, or they might show up at the start and vanish for the rest of the episode. Also bear in mind that Zloy's TB often has multiple storylines going on at once, this playlist doesn't contain all the context for a lot of those, and I'm not making more of these things.

And I still don't know what Chuck is.

People I would like to see in 3rd Life Season 2, regardless of how realistic they actually are.

Zedaph. Team ZITS babey! I wanna see them monopolize something really bizarre but also carry the risk that they could just. Blow up the server with their combined redstone knowledge and chaotic natures.

False. Queen of Heads Hearts and Body Parts my beloved. Most people seem to think she'd be part of a theoretical Dogwarts 2.0 but I feel like it'd be interesting if she wound up teaming with someone random for reasons nobody really understands (least of all False).

Joe. Part of me wants to see more Joe/Cleo content because it's always hilarious, but part of me wants to see people who have never met him before experience the unfiltered Joe Hills Difference firsthand. Scott has no idea who this guy is or where he came from but he's here now, singing about waxed exposed cut copper stairs. Martyn is ready to fight anyone and everyone, up to and including god, and this guy with a ridiculous mop of lime green hair is giving him a lecture on how the history of Sparta tracks to Dogwarts and he genuinely can't tell if he's serious or not. BigB is just chilling and he's not sure why Joe's here or what he's talking about but at least he's helping him build a path?

TFC. He would burrow underground and never be seen again. People go mining and come across his, which stretches from corner to corner. He's the final boss and your challenge is to actually find him down there. He has an underground tree farm and food farm.

Hbomb. Poor guy's apparently been getting flack from Dream fans lately (I refuse to touch the hellscape that is Twitter, personally), so why don't we add him to a series with fans who will actually appreciate and respect him? Maybe he'll join with Ren and get roped into a whole lot of highly ridiculous nonsense! Maybe he'll wind up stuck with Bdubs for extremely complicated and highly hilarious reasons and has to manage the human manifestation of a feral chihuahua! The possibilities are endless.

Doc. You just KNOW he'll immediately go ham on the roleplaying angle with Ren and Martyn. You just KNOW he'll go completely and thoughly over the top. You just KNOW it will probably blow up in his face in the stupidest way possible. Also I want his skin to change colour with his lives like a bloody chameleon. When he hits red he looks like Python. If Python was a deranged, shirtless cyborg.

Pixlriffs. Man is basically an honourary hermit at this point. He deserves to hang with some of them. He starts every episode with "This week, on 3rd Life..." He winds up with a monopoly on chickens for some reason.

Zloy. Can't have one without the other! I want to see the return of his Season 5 feud with Cleo. That or a zombie's alliance. Either way, there's a lot of dry humour, not-so-subtle death threats, and chaos. Also he builds a boat.

Taurtis. Poor man has no idea how he got here or who most of these people are, but he's Here Now. At one point Tango get's kicked out of team ZITS for an incredibly stupid petty reason and Skizz ropes him in to 'replace' him (it's all played for laughs, of couse).

Joe Hills is a professional nuisance! Sure, he's good friends with all the hermits, but he causes them enough headaches that he's technically doing his job.

there must be some confusion among researchers in the ancients sometimes using the word for moon to describe certain objects that caused large impact craters, despite having words for both asteroid and meteor.

The current working theory is that maybe whatever meteorite dropped on their heads was particularly moon-like, or maybe that the moon wasn't very visible at the time, so they thought the meteor was the moon.

Another theory is that only some areas had seperate names for 'moon' and 'meteor', while others just used the same, single word, or that the literal translation is something like 'giant space rock' and the words can be used relatively interchangably.

It's relatively a footnote, though. Most Ancient Language scholars are too busy tring to figure out how this one language is basically the same regardless of where on the planet it is.

Africa and Japan should not be speaking the same language in 107 BCE for god's sake.

last player!au: something i’ve been thinking about, are other smps, minecraft series or content creators canon in this au? like, we know that ’hermitcraft’ as a communtity was seen as very prevalent in player culture, but are there other civilizations beyond hermitcraft that were recorded? is hermitcraft an exception because the universe loves it? and if not, then when nobody writes the history, who will be remembered?

All SMPs are equally canon to the LPAU! As are all worlds in general. Big public servers? Small friend groups just messing around? That singleplayer world with the ugly box of a house made entirely of lapis lazuli ore which I made when I was like ten? They all exist, somewhere, in some form. Except superflats I'm not dealing with that logistic nightmare.

They probably aren't very intact, and are unrecognizable, but they did exist.

With SMPs, yes, the archeologists have uncovered a lot of old records, artifacts, ruins, etc. Their knowledge of these things is fragmented and incomplete, distorted because they don't know the full language and because they assume these people were more like Humans and less like minor gods, but hey. It's something.

Well, if it is possible, it clearly hasn't happened yet! The Universe is more interestined in Respawning its hermits than in creating new Players.

Crafting works fine! ...If you're a Player. Otherwise you gotta do it the long, difficult way. If you can do it at all. Golden apples aren't really accessible these days, for instance.

No. Mending is kinda useless now, animals and ores no longer drop xp, you can't get any from fishing or smelting, etc. It's a pain in the ass for the hermits.

The big issue with using elytra is, as always, the rocket problem. Sure, the hermits can glide around, but they need to get up in order to use it with any effectiveness, and that's tricky without rockets, especially in the forest. They could build elytra towers, but there's not really a lot of point? Because they're living underground?

and of course, getting sufficent gunpowder in this day and age is't really plausible. Humans tend to get weird about selling large quantities of explosives to strange, somewhat godlike cryptids that live in the forest.

Was rereading the Last Player AU, and noticed this. "The only remaining terraforming is the lava rivers in Ren’s base" what does that look like??? Is there just. A Trench? Or is there remaining lava? Or just volcanic rocks?

While there is still lava, it's no longer on the surface- that part cooled and hardened into various rocks, including pegmatite, peridotite, and granite. This is extremely confusing to geologists, because by all indication those rocks were formed by lava, and yet the rocks themselves are the kind that form as a result of very, very slow cooling? As in, rocks usually formed underneath the Earth's crust?? Not on top??? (Player-placed Nether lava is Built Different rdfchgvjhb).

In any case, the lava itself is in a signifigantly smaller volume, but it still sits at the bottom of the rivers carved for it, below the surface. These days it's used for easy geothermal electricity.

The power plant has to negotiate with the Australian Heritage Council every time they need to make major changes to the operation.
