Hello everyone! I did my first time rigging and character.

And that character is the Rabbids from Rayman Raving Rabbids 1.

I hope you enjoy them. This took a while!

I had that dream again~

last night I had a dream that Dolph, bullfrog and Rayman were all sleeping together(literally) and Dolph wakes up in the middle of the night. For context, all of them are in this little apartment in the city and it resembled a lot like the picture below. Dolph is wearing a sleeveless shirt and almost booty shorts that when the wind blows, his shirt does too(this is important trust my sources: me). They're all living in an apartment with no air conditioning and Dolph is sweating his ass off as being the furnace for his partners.

It looked like this (Found this on Google for Hong Kong's average apartments)

Dolph starts walking put on their railway/mini balcony, just smiling and being gratefulfor having his met his partners. Then he starts booking it into the city, just running on the railways and swinging like a madman. At some point, he takes a moth and keeps it in his hands, turning it into a ⭐️~magical moth~⭐️

Then he evades Eden police, all while laughing and smiling (not crazy, I know surprising). At some point, he comes back to the apartment to ☆~☆aesthetically☆~☆ look at his and his partners plants. The moth he grabbed is resting when bullfrog comes out and talks with him a bit. Rayman is DEAD asleep because he went to bed (at that point in time) 30 minutes ago, legs kicking, snoring, and drool on the pillow deep sleep.

Bullfrog asks why he's out, to which Dolph smiles and the moth flutters around him, as he starts Spidermaning again and bullfrog follows him. Bullfrog, like any good (somewhat) mentally stable partner goes after Dolph because they don't know if the man is going through another episode or relapsed with drugs somehow. As they're zipping through the apartments and evading the police, they hide in a ditch as they come across a prison institution.

Dolph is genuinely smiling and shit, with poor Bullfrog just being confused, when suddenly the moth takes out everyone in a magical explosion and teleports the two back to their railway balcony. Bullfrog, now convinced that Dolph was lucid, is now hearing him out about how he managed to gain this ability randomly and this could be a way out of Eden. That they could settle down somewhere outside Eden's eyes and live the rest of their lives in a quiet beach. The sun is rising as they keep talking about future plans, and my dream ends there.

You know, I've been thinking about Rayman's hoodie. Iirc, most fanartists design it like a pillow case.

Sometimes, it has a zip on the bottom or near the neck. Other times, it doesn't have any of those features, so how would he put it on? 🤔

Plus, does he wear a special kind of pants (with no legs ofc because he doesn't have fucking legs) underneath that match the colour of his hoodie? Or what else?

As well as that, what if he needs to use the bathroom? Does he have a fly on it, too? 😭

These are the real questions, lads.

64 Bit File Compression

*Played and Written in December 2022

Super Kiwi 64 has a unique quality to it and thus provides a certain service to society. For years I have been itching to play Banjo Kazooie once more to confirm that it is still a good game. I’ve had my suspicions that it might not hold up. I fear that there may be too much to collect and that the movement abilities may not hold up to the standards of today. I feel this way about a lot of games, but mainly 3D platformers of that era. Will I be satisfied with the standard jump and hover of Rayman 2 if I go back to it? I suspect I won’t be. I haven’t played any of the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy just because I want to hold out hope that they are good and not guilty of the awkward and evil design that I’ve heard whispers of. Ignorance is bliss, so I choose to ignore the past, unless it’s games like Mario 64 or Spyro, which I know for sure hold up today.

Super Kiwi 64 enables my cowardly mindset while also satisfying my desire to delve back into the 1990’s. It is an N64 3D platformer made in 2022. It looks the part, it vibes like one, is structured like one, and the main character is pretty much a gene spliced abomination of both Banjo and Kazooie. It’s surprisingly small. Like really small. But it still feels like I played a whole game. It’s almost as if I mistakenly placed an N64 cartridge into my VCR, hit fast forward, and my mind magically read through all information of the game. I got almost an entire experience of the very thing this game emulates in under an hour. There are still multiple level motifs and gimmicks. There are still secrets to be found in each area that require curiosity. And these levels aren’t really small either, you can just move around them way faster than you’d expect to be able to. This game has perfect control. With just the correct use of your basic attack, you can zip around the map and collect to your hearts content. There aren’t many enemies to stop you, but it’s not like combat is ever the thing people play these games for. There’s an essential joy attached to dashing, climbing, and gliding across the zone. I would say it only lacks in having a final boss to cap off your journey. Other than that, it’s the perfect compression of the experience I crave and will return to this whenever I’m in the mood play a Rare Platformer in the future.

"Then who did...?" She whispered back before promptly shutting her mouth as the deep voice rang throughout the lab. Ruby's gaze attempted to locate the one responsible but found it surprisingly difficult. That is until she spotted the tiny being off towards the mobile workbench. A very very tiny being. What even was he?

"GAH--!" Ruby didn't even get to question before a dozen robots swarmed them. The kraken took a step back, unsure of what to do, till she remembered her laser vision. Shots were fired and though it took each a few seconds to start melting, Ruby was able to damage at least three of them before needing to give her eyes a recharge. Her gaze looked beyond and the kraken gasped.

"Rayman! He's getting away!"

With the aid of his mobile workbench and attached mechanical arms, Plankton had himself and his latest invention zipping down the hallway and towards the nearby elevator. The tiny inventor was out of here the second it became clear his meager drones couldn't handle these two intruders.

"Delay them as much as you all can, you worthless hunks of junk! Throw yourselves at them! I don't care!" Anything to put as much distance between them and him as possible. Plankton gritted his teeth as he went up to the next level of the base. Curse that Ales! Where was that fool?! Probably still in the Glade collecting electoons for the Dream-O-Matic. Hmph! No matter! He'll just have to switch to Plan B for now. He'll need to be ready for them when they arrive...

the door opened and the hero looked inside, head first into the room, eyes scanning around the place as he moved slowly trying to be as silent as possible.

Said the hero before he could listen tothe voice, his eyes moved around in the search of the owner, that voice sounded of someone that could be very dangerouys, perhaps a human? 𝐍𝐨... 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐢𝐟 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫, 𝐡𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞... 𝐬𝐨 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥... 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐤𝐞? The hero scratched his head softly, what was the meaning of this? For a second the hero loses his focus, hhas seen bizarre things in his life time that is for sure but... nothing like this...

𝐎𝐡, 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐋𝐄 𝐑𝐎𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐒.

"Look, buddy I don't know who you are but I am NOT in the mood for your games and Toys!"

Said the hero as he winded up his fist, he truly was not in the mood to be messed with and less with these machines around!

Mr. Dark’s feet pounded against the ground, slightly sinking into the soft mud with each step. He zipped from shadow to shadow, careful not to step into the light. During the daytime, he could only travel through the shadows that were connected to each other; otherwise he would be stuck in place. It was a harsh time to travel, and the Dream Forest was especially tricky to navigate since its shadows came in splotches mixed with the daylight trickling down from the treetops.

He had stolen the Great Protoon at night to avoid this very problem, but his battle with Betilla the Fairy had lasted longer than he’d anticipated. He’d managed to get out of there by the time the sun rose, but now he had to travel the rest of the way to Candy Chateau by foot. If he could just make it to the Swamps of Forgetfulness, he’d have enough shadow to at least run smoothly by until nightfall. Then he could fly. 

Maybe, with the Great Protoon’s help, I can actually feel the wind on my face.

He looked down at the Protoon orb he had shrunken down and clasped to his cloak, gazing at the bright pink plasma moving inside, several Electoons still gravitating around it.

He couldn’t wait for the day he could finally feel.

Rayman: Land of Darkness Chapter 6: The other fish in the sea

Meanwhile, Globox was struggling to console an absolutely devastated Rayman.

He had pulled Rayman into a tight hug and was rubbing his back.

“There, there. It’s gonna be alright, Ray. We’ll find a way to rescue Celeste!”

The mere sound of Celeste’s name caused Rayman to let out a pained wail.

Rayman couldn’t help but blame himself. If he had just been faster none of this would’ve happened!

Celeste would be safe and sound and The Magician would’ve had his teeth kicked in.

It didn’t help that the last interaction he had was putting poor Celeste on the spot!

He still couldn’t get her look of discomfort out of his mind.

He had humiliated the person he loved most and didn’t even get to apologize!

Now Celeste was miles away; trapped in the hands of some magical creep.

All Rayman could do was pray for a miracle.

Sure enough, the universe heard his cry and it wasn’t long before it granted his wish.

Murfy zipped up to Globox and Rayman with good news to share!

“Hey! Hey! Dry those tears, Rayman! I found a hidden pathway that leads in the direction The Magician took Celeste!”

That caught Rayman’s attention.

He stopped crying, climbed out of Globox’s grip, and rushed over to Murfy.

“Really?! You did?! What are you waiting for?! Lead the way!”

And with Rayman’s spirit reignited, Murphy lead Rayman and Globox down the hidden pathway.

Sure enough, countless Darktoons tried to get in the way but Rayman made light work of them.

Rayman was burning with determination as he plowed through the countless Darktoons that tried to tear him down.

Both Murfy and Globox were in awe! They had never seen Rayman so focused before!

No matter how many bruises painted his skin, how many bite marks pierced his flesh, nor how many spikes had almost impaled him, Rayman kept on going.

He was hellbent on saving Celeste and *nothing* was going to stand in his way.

Nothing except The Rainbow Reef.

Murfy had been leading Rayman and Globox all across the reef but it felt like they were going in circles.

It wasn’t long before Rayman and Globox needed to go up to the surface for air.

SPLOOSH!

After emerging from the water, everyone gasped as their lungs took in the sweet fresh air.

“Murfy! Are we getting close yet? I think I just got a swimming cramp!” Globox whined as he rubbed his bottom.

“We’ll get there when we get there ok?! It’s not my fault this stinking reef is so big!” Murfy huffed as he folded his arms.

“Ok, maybe it’s time we asked for directions.” Rayman grumbled as he slicked his wet hair out of his face.

“Pssh! I already have the directions! It’s just a long route!” Murfy denied.

Rayman didn’t buy that for a second.

He narrowed his eyes as he shot Murfy a glare.

“Don’t look at me like that! I’m telling you I got this! Now do you wanna argue or do you wanna save your girlfriend?” Murfy grumbled as he put his hands on his hips.

Rayman’s cheeks flushed at the thought of Celeste.

“Ok, ok, you have a point. Lead the way.”

And with that, Murfy led Rayman and Globox back underwater.

Unfortunately the more they traveled the more lost they became and the more lost they became the more darktoons bubbled up from the deep.

While Rayman was more than ready for them, it was starting to get draining.

Eventually, Rayman noticed some darktoons trying to hide behind a large clam shell covered in chains.

WHAM!

SLAP!

SLAM!

Rayman was about to move on when-

POP!

The chains on the clamshell popped off!

FSHHHH!

With a flash of bright light, the clamshell slowly opened to reveal:

A lovely mermaid!

The mermaid stretched a bit before announcing,

“Woo! Thanks for saving me! I’ve been cooped up in there for days!”

Both Rayman and Globox’s eyes nearly popped out of their heads.

“Umm....Are they ok?”  The mermaid whispered to Murfy.

“Yeah! They’re fine. They’re just not from around here, so I guess you took their breath away!” Murfy chuckled as he playfully elbowed the mermaid.

“Wait do you mean like  literally or...”

“What? No! It was a joke! You know? Because they’re holding their breath?” Murfy interjected as he gave the mermaid a quizzical look.

“Oh! That’s what I thought. Sorry, I have hard time telling if someone’s joking or not.” The mermaid confessed as she rubbed the back of her head.

“Why would I be serious about that?”

“You’d be surprised about the kind of things merpeople are actually serious about. Anyway, my fault or not, I’m not about to let these two suffocate down here!”

And with that, the mermaid blew Rayman and Globox’s kisses.

The kisses turned into heart shaped bubbles that encased Rayman and Globox.

“There! Now you guys should have an easier time breathing down here! I mean as long as they don’t accidentally pop or something but if they do I’ll be more than happy to give you more bubbles!” The Mermaid explained with a giggle.

“Thanks! Uh....”

“Oh right! I forgot to introduce myself! I’m Marina! What are your names?” Marina chirped as she gestured to Murfy,  Rayman and Globox.

“I’m Rayman and-“

“And I’m Globox! You’re pretty!” Globox interjected.

“Aww! Thank you! You’re.....Very cheerful!” Marina responded with a grin.

Globox’s face flushed as he looked over at Rayman.

“Ray! I think she likes me!”

“I think she was just trying to be polite. Anyhow, My name’s Murfy!” Murfy sighed as he shook her hand.

“Well I do like you guys.  Y’all saved me after all! If there’s anything else I can do to repay you guys just let me know ok?” Marina chirped as she clapped her webbed hands.

Murfy was about to speak but Rayman was faster.

“Actually, you wouldn’t happen to know your way around The Rainbow Reef would you?”

Marina hummed and nodded.

“I think I can help show you around!”

“Great! Because we’ve been lost for hours!” Rayman cheered.

And with that, Marina helped guide Rayman, Globox, and Murfy, through The Rainbow Reef.

Looking at @slightly-gay-pogohammer‘s drawing of a bunch of Rayfans versions of Rayman made me realise how different artists draw Rayman eyes.  Some keep them together like Sonic eyes, others keep them individual but still connected, and some keep a gap between them...

...and then there’s me drawing his eyes in different zip codes XD

Thinking about showcasing my rayman work. I had an au idea that brings some elements from Captain Lazerhawk to the original Rayman story and Raylan owns sort of a heroes for hire.

It also features two of my OCs Maybelle, a cow-girl (a cow that is also a farmhand) and Zip (A dragonfly who sorta was similar to Murphy’s character but she was packed with gadgets galore on her).

Fictober 1: “It will be fun, trust me.”

"Ten more steps and I'm turning back."

"It's just over here, I promise!" Rayman beckoned, excitement very clear in his voice.

"You said that five minutes ago too." she mumbled, but trudged forwards across the endless white void nonetheless.

Ly had always been very curious of what it was like outside the Fairy Glade, but the past day more or less convinced her that snow just wasn't her element in any way. Even with the giant coat covering her from head to toe, the oversized scarf, the boots, the gloves, and even a thick hat helped very little against the unfamiliar amounts of cold seeping through every tiny, even slightly uncovered inch of skin. She had been lightly shivering since they stepped out of the warm cabin, and every step just reaffirmed her belief that, with all due respect, Helena of the Nymphs was crazy to live anywhere near such temperatures.

Nonetheless, she continued onwards after her friend, as the last thing she wanted was to get lost in this sparkly white hell. Rayman's sense of direction was the only thing she could rely on to get back. She could easily discern one tree from another in the Glade, but out here, she may as well be lost in abyss. At least he certainly didn't have any problems, rushing through the snow as he would do anywhere else. Barely even needed the coat he was wearing.

"We're here!" he called out, conveniently from behind yet another snowy mound.

Ly groaned and hastened her steps as much as she could. Normally, getting to him would have been as easy as leaping across, but she would usually do so in clothes that didn't restrict every attempted motion. As soon as she managed to climb past this final obstacle, she had to admit the sight was worth the trek.

A pond stretched across the snowy landscape, frozen still in this weather. The sun was just high enough to cast its light upon the ice, granting it the appearance of a lake of pure crystal. It was rare to see water frozen in the Glade, much less in such a volume. Rayman looked very proud her amazement and wasted no time in shamelessly abusing the possibilities. He leaped forward and landed right upon the ice, gracefully sliding forwards from the momentum.

The fairy stepped forward as well, partly to follow and partly because the sight was just far too fascinating to ignore. As soon as her boot landed on the lake though, the shift in her weight caused her foot to slide forwards. She cried out, frantically waving her arms to regain her balance, but it was no use. Her sight shifted from the lake, to the clear blue sky as she fell to a sit, luckily still just in the middle of the snow.

"You alright there?" she heard briefly as Rayman slid by on one foot, trying his absolute best not to laugh.

"...of course I am." she grumbled.

His concern touched her deeply and she wanted to repay him with a nice, friendly and swift smack upside the head. To do so though, meant she had to stand up again, which quickly proved to be a very difficult task. She leaned forward and tried to get up, but just couldn't figure out how to adjust and merely danced along the ground for several moments, while sliding deeper into the makeshift ice rink.

Ly's cheeks quickly filled with indignant red and she attempted to get up once more. This time, her efforts sort of paid off, but as soon as she would steady herself, a horrid wobble in her legs did short work of her hard-earned victory. Rayman showered her with tips from the sidelines, but after a while she just tuned him out entirely, determined to achieve a standing position on her own.

After several more attempts, she finally managed to stay upright for a little while and for the first time, she managed to keep her balance as well, albeit slightly wobbling all the same. Seeing Rayman zipping across the lake steeled her resolve and following his example, she took another step forward. This proved to be a difficult task, but one she wasn't about to shy away from. With every step, she would grow bolder, more confident and more firm on her feet.

The cold hardly seemed to matter any longer, as the thrill of such an unfamiliar challenge proved more than enough to heat her right up. Redoubling her efforts, she managed to slide forwards on her feet this time. It wasn't as graceful as Rayman's movements, but it was definitely better than her attempts thus far. Ly laughed and continued, even losing her hat in the fervor of this newfound enjoyment.

It didn't last much longer though. She grew overconfident and sped up far too much in one go to control it. Her giggle turned into a loud cry as she wobbled violently, before the boot once again turned against her. Her foot left the ground and her whole body lurched backwards. She closed her eyes, anticipating a quite nasty fall, only to feel something crashing into her from behind. The fall was inevitable, but the landing ended up much smoother, sliding across the ice in a sit, rather than trying to mimic an overturned spider.

"Careful now, you could have hurt yourself back there." she heard, his voice forcing her eyes open.

His intention may have been to gracefully catch her, but that proved a little too much even for him. Instead, they were both in a heap on the ground, just barely careening to stop. They both looked at each other for just a moment, before they started laughing. She pulled the limbless close and embraced him for the effort at least.

He enjoyed the affection for a moment, before backing out and standing up again, holding a hand out for her. Ly grinned and took it, letting him slowly and gently bring her to her feet again.

"Now, just try to relax, okay?" he said.

Ly nodded and let him dictate her every step from then on. One tentative step after another. A slide, one short, one long. A spin and a fall, then immediately back to her feet again. Another spin, another fall, but he was right there to pick her up again. Another slide, more confident than before. The wobble turned to firm stance as they both raced across the ice. 

Hand in hand they continued, their motions steadily turning into something akin to a dance. Where he learned the steps, she would never know. Where she picked up on them, she didn't care. The quiet winter serenity was all that mattered as their laughter echoed along the snowy lands for hours on end.

"Thank you." she sighed, wrapping her nearly frozen fingers around the warm mug.

"Go slow, or it'll burn your mouth." he warned, placing their coats near the fire to dry up.

"Experience?" Ly asked, reaching up to brush the leftover droplets from all the rime on her hair.

"More than I can count." he said, settling down by her, but only after procuring a thick blanket.

The fairy was still shivering wildly, but the warmth around her did its best to seep into her bones as quickly as possible. Both of them were too caught up to realize they'd been out longer than healthy, especially for a fairy who has hardly stepped beyond the borders of the Fairy Glade before. By the time they returned, Ly could swear even her breath was like ice. Rayman made sure upon returning to warm her and the cabin up as quickly as possible though. As always, his friend's plight was paramount.

Of course, he wasn't about to go unrewarded though and once she was all snug, he sat down and snuggled right up into her arms, letting the warm cloth drape across both of them.

"Thank you."

"You already said that." he chuckled, squeezing a couple droplets from his floppy hair.

"Not just for this. For... just everything really. For bringing me out here." she said, embracing the limbless. She paused, then continued with a grin. "For not letting me back out."

He leaned back further and returned the grin. "It's what friends do. They listen, they help and they'll make sure to push you out the door, when there’s no other option."

They shared a laugh and just sat around afterwards, while warmth seeped back into their tired, still shivering bodies. Before long, the only noises in the cabin were the crackling fire and the soft snores of the two would-be ice skaters.

Deaths are tracked on your profile page, but you’re not penalised for deaths in levels that require a lot of restarts or tricky moments. The game rarely feels unfair, with deaths not being punished beyond a checkpoint restart. Playing through these levels, trying to rescue all the Teensies and collect all the Lums is where the longevity comes from, with most levels not offering a huge challenge, but a select few definitely wanting a few tries to 100%. There’s a threshold for lucky tickets as well, which can be scratched for a variety of prizes, including ported levels from Rayman Origins. Then each level measures Lums gathered, with different thresholds for bronze, silver, and gold. There are 10 Teensies in most levels, with two of them being royal Teensies, which are hidden in their own separate puzzle rooms. But your performance in the level is dictated by two things- captured Teensies to rescue, and Lums, which is the game’s equivalent to coins. There are simply too many gameplay gimmicks for me to list, but thankfully, everything makes sense and is easy to grasp quickly, thanks to a fantastic art style and imaginative cues.Īs you’d expect, you beat the level by just getting to the end. If you’re still on the fence here, I’ll get into how it all works a bit more.Įach level is fairly straightforward, with a different gameplay mechanic taking the spotlight for the level, which can be anything from shrinking Rayman, gliding through a level while ‘shooting’ punches, or navigating through bites taken out of giant blocks of cake. So straight up, if you’re after a good single player game with a very satisfying measured progression, you can probably stop reading and get it. So if you don’t know anything about Rayman Legends, it’s pretty easy to summarise- a very fluid platformer, with a huge amount of levels and activities to play in, each with their own secrets and goals within. So the majority of this review will be from the perspective of somebody only just getting into Rayman Legends now, but if you want to know if it’s worth the double dip on Switch if you’ve already played it, I’ll put my thoughts on that near the end!
