“If I die one more time because you guys say some fuck shit, you’re getting banned.”
Kenma’s been on this boss for hours. Well, an hour and twenty three minutes, to be exact, as his recording time so graciously wouldn’t let him forget. In his chat, there’s a flurry of people who backseat him to tell him how to beat the boss (mods will take care of them later, but it’s still obnoxious), people laughing and a few encouraging comments being tacked on with some generous donations.
At this point, he just wants to end the stream and beat it in the focus of his own company.
But he won’t. Because it’s his job or whatever.
“Kenny?” A voice calls: your voice. Kenma softens and turns to the door, ignoring his character as it dies again. “I bought you some munchies since you didn’t answer my text.”
“Hey princess,” he hums, smiling and leaning his head back against the chair. “Sorry i didn’t get back to you, I’m in the fuckin’ thick of it. How was lunch?”
“It was good,” you say, smiling and bending down to kiss his nose. “The girls say hi and that they’ll watch later; whatcha doin’?”
Kenma gives you a groan of exhaustion, “I’m suffering, that’s what. This game is horrifically hard.”
“I told you it would be, Ken.” Despite your ‘I told you so’, he chuckles and puckers his lips out for a proper kiss, which you comply with happily. In your peripheral, chat spams with orange hearts- your designated emoji amongst his fans- and puke faces for the affection you two just shared.
He hums and pulls away softly, “you wanna give it a whirl? Maybe some new eyes will make this shit easier.”
“You’re the gamer in this dynamic babe,” you snort. Despite this, you scoot to the side so he can get up and switch places with you, watching with a smile as you get settled in his oversized chair.
Chat explodes with an absolute inflation of orange hearts, flowing a mile a second, and it makes you smile to be seen in such a positive light, even if this is far from the first time they’ve seen or supported you.
“Hi guys!” You say eagerly, grabbing the controller while he leans over the back of the chair. The chat quickly fills up with words of wisdom and “GOOD LUCKS!” while Kenma plants a kiss to your cheek. “What do I have to do?”
“Basically just beat the boss; I’ve found that kinda breaking the game by rolling behind the boss and then pressing ‘y’ for the super attack is best, but hey. I’ve also been stuck on this boss since you left, so I don’t really know anything.”
“Thanks for the help,” you snort, but with a roll of your shoulders to get comfortable, you take on the task.
And it goes well! For the first few seconds.
Slowly then after, it turned into you running away from the boss and blaming Kenma- in your defense, he likes his buttons to do certain things, it’s different than you are used to!- while all along, trying to roll behind the boss to swing at his back.
It’s very amusing to everyone but you.
“How are you so bad at this?” He cackles, and you quickly try to shush him.
“Shut up!” You giggle, shaking your head. Your character lays a slash of their sword, but the game doesn’t seem to register it- if anything, your character gets the hit.
“No! Fuck!” You cackle out a whine, while behind you Kenma tugs at his hair in amused disbelief.
“Please- dear god, I will buy you a ring right now if you just get one hit on this boss-“
“DONT SAY THAT!” You whine, hands immediately starting to shake as you tap mercilessly on the buttons, cheeks ablaze while the grin on your face refuses to falter.
This, to your distracted dismay, causes chat to explode, taking your already shaky focus and making it somehow less existent.

“Kuroo, not helping!” You whine, cheeks an absolute scorch while all Kenma does behind you is snicker. Traitor.
Between the absolute unsupportive nature of your boyfriend and all eyes of the Internet being on you as you fail over and over again, you finally cave and give up.
With a pout, you plant the controller back on the desk, letting the opponent hit you with its many attacks, all the while your character grunts in pain. You must look like a child, because the next thing you feel is Kenma’s lips against your cheek, and it causes that pout to finally break up. “You did good,” he praises. “It’s a hard boss; I’m glad you tried it.”
“Me too,” you confess. You lean in to give him a proper kiss, laughing into it as Kenma holds his large hand up, as if to shield the affection from his watchful viewers. You part with a nudge of his nose, and when his hand comes down, you lace your fingers with his. “It was fun, but I think I’ll leave the gaming to you.”

“Fair enough,” he chuckles, standing back up to let you slip out of the gaming chair. Your eyes avoid chat, you see all the laughing stickers scrolling though, and you shake your head as your hands reach for the headset.
“Alright chat. Here’s Kodzuken. Hope you enjoyed the interlude.” You push up and out of the chair, letting Kenma slip right in and take your spot. As you turn to leave, you offer him one last call- “oh! When you do buy that engagement ring, I expect no less than 6 karats.”
“Yeah yeah yeah,” he scoffs, watching you leave with a cheesy smile on his face. He turns back to the camera and slips his headset back on, “dummy. Got you one with 10, you think this is my first day?”
Chat once again explodes with excitement while Kenma merely smirks and goes back to his game, looking at the boss with new eyes and the chat focused on something else.

Assassin Chapter Two
Pairings: (eventual) mad king x reader
Word count: 4440
Summary: You, Lindsay, and Meg go to Michael and Gavin’s house where you guy see a friend you haven’t seen in a while, and learn some unsetteling news.
“Fuck where did they go?” You mumbled to yourself as you spun in a circle in the clearing you now found yourself in. You were straining to hear over the sound of your own labored breathing and the sound of your blood rushing through your ears as you scanned the tree line searching for where everyone had gone. You had lost them in the scramble to get away when you had heard the hoard of zombies coming your way catching you all with your pants down essentially. The sound of footsteps beating against the forest floor and a body crashing through the bushes and tree branches that surrounded the clearing caused you to jump. Instantly you were pulling out your bow and notching an arrow as you spun around to face the sound just in time to see a hooded figure come crashing through the tree line and into the woods.
You froze where you stood your body tense and ready to let the arrow fly as you stared at the person. They were bent over their hands on their knees panting heavily, their hood blocked the majority of their faces. For a long moment neither of you moved, though to be fair you weren’t too sure that the person even realizes that you were there that didn’t matter to you, they’d notice soon enough and notice they did. They lifted their head slightly and instantly they noticed you, jumping back from you they turned their face to meet your gaze piercing blue eyes staring at you as their hand moved to reveal the hilt of a sword. A snarl started to form on your lips as you glared at them your body tensing more as the two of you entered a stare down neither of you moving.
~Earlier~
“Lindsay come on we’re gonna be late.” You whined as you stood outside her door with Meg who looked just as annoyed as you felt with how long Lindsay was taking to get ready. The longer that Lindsay took the more likely the three of you were going to get caught when you left the house, or the three of you would end up being roped into doing something ladylike.
“Maybe we should just leave without her, she can catch up she knows where it is,” Meg suggested and you cast a look back at Lindsay’s door before shrugged. Truth be told you’d rather that all of you went together because then you didn’t have to worry about Lindsay getting lost because even though the three of you had been to Michael’s house a million times at this point that wouldn’t stop Lindsay from getting a little confused on how to get there.
“No, no, I’m ready, come on guys let’s go,” Lindsay stated as she walked out of her room wearing a man’s riding outfit. Both you and Meg stared at her for a second that was not the outfit that you had thought she would walk out wearing with the amount of time that she had taken to get ready. You and Meg shared a look before you held your hands up in defense and turned around.
“Alright, we’re already so let’s just go.” You said eager to get out of the house for a few hours and away from proper society for a few hours.
“What? What’s wrong with my outfit?” Lindsay asked as the three of you walked through the halls of the mansion heading downstairs to the garden.
“You’re wearing men’s riding clothes Lindsay, you tell me,” Meg commented.
“So? (Y/N)’s wearing men clothes as well, why aren’t you judging her?” Lindsay asked and I looked back at her as we paused at a corner.
“Because I’m not wearing men’s riding clothes, I’m wearing hunting clothes which is a lot more fit for where we’re going. You look like you’re supposed to go for a spin around the town.” You commented before peering around the corner checking for any maids. When you saw no one you motioned for Meg and Lindsay to follow as you stepped out from around the corner swiftly making your way towards the back stairs.
“Exactly, at least if we run into anyone in the woods (Y/N) will look like she belongs, you’ll look like you lost your horse,” Meg added as you all descended the stairs and then took a sharp left into a hallway that would lead to a large sunroom and then out into the garden.
“So? Then I’ll still belong in the woods because I’m looking for my horse, besides you're the one in a dress and you’re talking about how I look like I’ll be out of place.” Lindsay pointed out and you shook your head as the three of you walked into the sunroom and out into the garden.
“I’ll have you know that the dress I’m wearing is a perfect commoner dress who would be out walking in the woods traveling or searching for mushrooms and berries.” Meg’s tone was confident and you glanced back at them an amused look on your face. In all actuality, it didn’t matter what any of you were wearing because you’d all be too far out in the woods for anyone other than Michael and Gavin to be there. So it wasn’t like wearing the proper disguises was necessary hence why all of you were in different clothing. You knew Lindsay was wearing the only real boy outfit that she had in her room, and Meg was only wearing the dress because of the way it complimented her and because she wanted to impress Gavin, and you were wearing the hunting outfit because it was comfortable. It also felt like you were wearing your Assassin outfit, the freedom of movement that came with not wearing a dress or a corset was was one of the best feelings in the world, that and it gave you an excuse to carry your bow an arrow. A weapon that you were still trying to master completely, it came in handy when you had to deal with skeletons and creepers.
“Ladies, either way, we’ll stand out if someone sees us two of us are dressed as men.” You told them as the three of you walked through the flowers, hedges, and sculpted bushes of the garden heading to the back where vines had grown along the wall enough to climb up and over.
“Fair point,” Lindsay said and Meg nodded in agreement with her.
Once the three of you were over the wall and officially in the forest the three of you feel silent and moved even quieter. All of you were on edge as you made traveled through the woods, there was a reason that people avoided the woods and stayed within the relative safety that was Achievement City no matter the time of day. That was because even if it was the middle of the day the monsters that filled the night with their horrible bone-chilling sounds still roamed around, the trees providing just enough shade that some would still remain. Not enough to cause any real issues should you run into them but enough that it still kept the three of you on edge and jumping at every little sound.
It took the three of you maybe an hour and a half to get to Michael and Gavin’s house and that was with only running into a few monsters. Either way, the familiar sight of their house filled you with a calming sense of relief and before you could say anything to Lindsay or Meg the two of them were racing off towards the house. You rolled your eyes as you followed them a small smile on your face, the two of them were so in love with those too you almost found it comical.
“Hello?! Anyone home!” Lindsay yelled as she knocked on the door and seconds later it was opened by Michael who stopped and did a double take of Lindsay’s outfit.
“What are you wearing?” He asked and Lindsay groaned dropping her head back so she was looking up at the sky.
“Not you too, first Meg and (Y/N) complain about my outfit and then you. If Gavin says anything I’m going to slap him.” Lindsay muttered to herself and Michael chuckled stepping aside and letting us in. You smiled and nodded to Michael as you stepped through the door and he nodded back closing the door behind you and following you into the rest of the house. The house wasn’t much it was a simple two-story house with the kitchen and living room sharing the entirety of the downstairs with their two bedrooms and the one guest room upstairs.
“Meg!” Gavin cried as soon as everyone was in the house and you looked over just in time to see Meg be pulled into a giant hug by Gavin, one that she happily returned with a similar cry of Gavin’s name. You, Michael, and Lindsay chuckled at the sight of them.
“Hey (Y/N).” You looked over in surprise to see Ray standing by the couch and a large smile spread across your face and you were quick to walk over to him and even quicker to hug him. Michael might have been your best friend but Ray was your favorite out of the three lads despite you never see much of him because he preferred to live elsewhere.
“Ray! It’s so good to see you! How have you been?” You asked excitedly, hugging him a little tighter before you pulled away from him. The easy smile that he had been wearing when you walked over was gone now and had been replaced with a forlorn look that caused a ball of unease to form in your stomach.
“Not good,” Ray said and your stomach sank as you shared a look with everyone else. The joy at seeing the three of you had faded from Gavin and Michael’s faces and had been replaced with serious looks.
“Why what happened?” You asked and a look of anger spread across Ray’s face the likes of which that you’d never seen and it caused you to take a few steps back at the fire in his eyes.
“They found me,” Ray stated and instantly you tensed. Very few people knew were Ray lived partially because he liked his privacy but mainly because the last time that you had checked Ray was harboring Geoff and Jack the rightful heirs to the throne. The people who should be sitting on those thrones now but were forced into hiding after the Mad King took it from them, it wasn’t a day that you remembered fondly. Or at all if you could avoid it.
“What do you mean they found you? Who found you?” Lindsay asked and you could hear the hope in her voice the hope that it was people who were meant to help the six of you, people who wanted the Mad King gone as much as you did. But you knew better. You knew that if it had been someone to help Ray wouldn’t be here, he wouldn’t have that look on his face, Michael and Gavin wouldn’t be pissed off with him, you knew that it couldn’t be anyone else but him.
“The Mad King.” You answered for Ray and he nodded not at all surprised that you’d already figured it out. No one gasped at the answer, but the flicker of hope that had shown on Meg and Lindsay’s faces quickly died out and were replaced with the determined looks they got when they were on a job.
“Are Geoff and Jack ok? They’re not… are they?” Meg asked unable to bring herself to voice what you were already thinking and god did you hope that they were ok.
“I don’t know we were lucky to get out when we did, the traps that Jack and Geoff had set up around the house actually managed to catch one of the Mad King’s men and we were able to get away. But it was dark and there was a fight at one point and I lost them.” Ray said as he looked down at the ground and you worried your bottom lip between your teeth. Walking up to him you placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and gave him a small smile.
“I’m sure they’re fine Ray they escaped the Mad King once they can escape him again. Besides Geoff wouldn’t let anything happen to Jack you know that.” You reassured him and he looked up at you a small, still guilty, smile on his face through some of the tensenesses in his shoulders did release a little.
“That’s what I told him, they’re probably just hiding somewhere until it’s safe to leave like in a cave or something,” Gavin said and you chuckled internally at the idea of Geoff hiding out in a cave.
“Exactly.” You commented and some of the guilt faded from Ray’s smile as he looked between you and Gavin.
“This is great and all but what are we going to do now?” Lindsay asked and you dropped your hand from Ray’s shoulder and instead leaned back against the couch.
“We were just talking about what to do when you guys arrived,” Michael stated crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned against a wall looking at us all.
“What did you guys come up with?” Meg asked and Michael cast a glance at Ray and you looked at Ray out of the corner of your eye.
“I want to go out and check the house and see if we can find any clues as to which way Geoff and Jack may have gone, and see if there’s anything left of the house, to begin with,” Michael told you and you nodded your head. That would be the smart thing to do because now the most important thing was finding Jack and Geoff again and making sure that they were ok.
“As much as I want to find them again I don’t want to do that because the Mad King could be watching the house, he could have men outside of it thinking that we’ll come back to the house.” Ray’s voice was firm and tense when he spoke so you were guessing that they’d been arguing about this for a while now.
“But that’s just it, he’ll never expect us to go back to the house so soon after he found it. He knows we’ll want to lay low for a while which is why we should go now and check it out.” Gavin said and a look of exasperation crossed Ray’s face as he looked at you, Lindsay, and Meg for help. The three of you shared a look you didn’t know what they wanted to do but you knew that you wanted to go look at the place even if the place was surrounded with the Mad King’s knights.
“I think we should go.” You said and a look of surprise crossed Ray’s face which was quickly followed by one of defeat when he glanced a Lindsay and Meg who nodded their heads in agreement.
“Going will be better than not going at all, besides even if we don’t get close to the house the perimeter can offer enough information as to where they went if we know what to look for. Which I do.” Lindsay pointed out.
“What if there are knights there? I don’t want you guys getting hurt.” Ray stated his eyes quickly darting to you first and then around the room.
“Then we’ll just have to be careful and not be seen. Don’t worry Ray it’s not like this is any of our first times sneaking around a group of dangerous people.” Meg waved her hand dismissively at the concern that was still on Ray’s face.
“Yeah, it’s like what our fifth, sixth time?” You asked looked at Lindsay who was smiling now.
“Oh, the tenth time at the very least,” Lindsay added and Ray groaned dropping his head back and looking up at the ceiling.
“Oh my god you people are going to get me killed.” He muttered and you chuckled reaching out and patting him on the back.
“It’s better to die with friends than to die old and alone at the hands of an enemy.” You stated in a mystic tone that made the others laugh and Ray shake his head.
It took a good few hours to get to Ray’s house the six of you only moving as fast as any of you dared which wasn’t very fast considering the number of times you all had to stop and take care of a monster that was coming for the six of you. That and you all wanted to make sure that you weren’t being followed by anyone who happened to see any you or if the Mad King had a scout out looking for Ray. By the time all of you got within a couple hundred yards of the house it was already late in the afternoon and you were all starting to get panicky. The way here had been easier than any of you expected and none of you knew if that was a good thing or if that was a bad thing.
“Teams of two, we’ll all circle around the house and then come back here. Ray, (Y/N) you two go together, I and Meg will go together, and Michael keep an eye on Gavin.” Lindsay said and all of you nodded. Getting into your teams the six of you broke apart, Lindsay and Meg went left while you and Ray took the right side leaving Gavin and Michael to go up the middle.
The closer the two of you got to the house the tenser you each became and the closer to the ground you each got until you were both crouch walking, using the bushes and trees as cover. Neither of you moved from one hiding spot to the other until you were absolutely sure that there was no one near either of you. It was slow progress just getting to the edge of the clearing that the house was built in, it did help that you had to stop and disable what traps the Mad King’s men hadn’t managed to set off, but it was progress nonetheless. As the two of you moved around the house you scanned the ground and surrounding area looking for signs of either a Knight or for where Geoff and Jack would have gone but you didn’t see anything. The longer you went without seeing a sign the bigger the pit in your stomach got, something was going to go wrong you could feel it, something wasn’t right.
Ray grabbed your arm and pulled you back into him and instantly your hand was on your knife and your body tense as your eyes darted around the area searching for what had caused Ray to do that. When you didn’t see anything you looked at Ray in confusion. He picked up a stick and carefully brushed away some leaves to reveal a wooden pressure plate underneath, your eyes widened at the sight thinking that it was something the Mad King had left behind. One look at Ray though killed that idea as he made a soft explosion noise and gesture, so it was a trap that Geoff had set up. Nodding you walked around the pressure plate and the two of you continued walking around the house.
The two of you got to the back of the house and came face to face with Lindsay and Meg. You shook your head at the sight of them and they shook their heads right back and that sense that something was going to go wrong grew as you looked around the area again. The Mad King was playing a game with all of you, you just knew it, what it was you had no idea but you knew he was up to something. You all wait in silence until Michael and Gavin join you Michael shaking his head to confirm what you were already thinking. There was no one here and there was no sign of Jack or Geoff.
“What should we do now?” Gavin whispered. Despite all of you know that it was clear none of you wanted to risk it in case someone came back.
“None of you saw anything? No footprints, broken branches, anything?” Ray asked and again everyone shook their head.
“Is there any other way they could have gotten out of the house?” You questioned casting a glance back at the house. Ray was silent as he thought for a minute before looking back at the house.
“Well there is one way that they could of gone, a secret tunnel that leads farther out into the middle of nowhere, but Jack and Geoff clearly ran out the door with me I just don’t know which way as soon as I got out of the house I sprinted for the tree line and then started for your guy’s house. I lost them at some point.” Ray admitted and you frown.
“Could it be possible they decided to go back in and take the tunnel?” Meg asked and Ray shook his head.
“No they were already breaking through the treeline on the side of the house by the time we had gotten a good distance away, it would have been suicidal to go back in,” Ray said and you purse your lips still looking at the house. Looking around you stood up and turned in a small circle before looking at the house.
“Can we go inside and look around?” You asked looking down at Ray who nodded.
“Yeah, I want to get some things anyway,” Ray answered as he stood up everyone following suit. Together you all walked towards the front of the house, as everyone filed inside you scanned the tree line squinting in concentration. Still unable to shake that feeling. For a fraction of a second, you swear you saw something move in a bush just to the right of a large oak, and you took a step closer to it trying to see what it had been. Again you saw something more and your hand was on your knife in seconds as you took another step towards the bush drawing your knife and preparing to throw it. A rabbit bounded out of the bush just as you pulled your knife free and instantly you relaxed releasing a small sigh at the sight of the animal, it had just been a rabbit. Maybe your bad feeling was all for nothing, putting your knife away you turned and walked into the house.
While the outside of the house looked perfectly fine the same could not be said for the inside of the house which looked like a twister had torn through the place.
“Wow, they left no stone unturned.” You commented as you tentatively stepped over some glass glad that you had worn boots today instead of cotton slippers.
“They found the passageway.” Ray murmured staring at the dark expanse that lay beyond a turned over bookshelf.
“Maybe that’s where all of his men are watching where the passageway comes out. The Mad King must have thought that none of you would come back to the house the normal way so he set up people to watch that.” Lindsay tried to offer an explanation as to why the house was ransacked but unguarded. You didn’t say anything as you stepped over a pile of books walking towards the stairs that lead upstairs.
“Yeah maybe,” Ray said but it was clear that he didn’t fully believe Lindsay. He stared at the passageway for a couple more seconds before turning and walking away.
“I need to get my weapons, hopefully, he didn’t find that,” Ray said as he carefully moved about the house. For the most part, everyone stayed on the first floor, well except for you. You had silently made your way upstairs to check the damage that had been done up there. The second floor was in a similar state as the first floor, the beds had been overturned and clothes were thrown all over the place. Again bookshelves had been knocked over onto the floor and any glass in the rooms had been smashed to bits, even some floorboards had been ripped up. Glass crunched underneath your boots as you walked around looking through all the rooms for anything that might stick out and take care to look out each window as you went. When you found and saw nothing you walked back downstairs just as Ray rejoined the others.
“Thank god they didn’t find my weapons,” Ray said as he tightened his belt securing his diamond sword to his waist.
“Hey Ray, is anything missing?” You asked causing everyone to jump slightly none of them realizing that you had left and come back until you said something. At your question, Ray’s eyes darted around the house trying to see if anything had been taken in the chaos eventually he shook his head looking at you.
“No, why?” He asked and you shrugged.
“Don’t know just wondering if there was anything of importance here that the Mad King might want.” You said and Ray shook his head.
“No the only thing of importance here was Geoff and Jack but they’re gone.” He said and you nodded looking around again. That feeling seemed to have just gotten worse the more you walked around the house and the longer you stayed here to the point where you had to stop yourself from looking over your shoulder every couple of seconds.
“(Y/N) what’s wrong?” Lindsay asked and again you shrugged.
“I don’t know I just have this bad feeling.” You said as you looked around the house again. Besides you everyone tensed casting their own suspicious looks around the place, they all knew you well enough to know that when you started feeling like something was going to wrong things usually went wrong. How though was the unnerving part.
“Alright on that note when I say we get out of here. If (Y/N)’s feeling turns out to be right I don’t want to be around when it’s proven right.” Ray said and he was already moving towards the door. In silent agreement you all followed him out the door prepared to make the long trek back to Michael’s.

Cinders - Chapter 1/36
Tumblr media
All Chapters
SUMMARY: You had been partners with Ray for years, the two of you raising your infamous reputation from the ground up ever since your Fake AH Crew days. Your skills were unquestionable, and just as strong as the banter. But you soon find yourself stranded in Los Santos, the threat of running into the Fakes becoming an increasingly strong, and terrifying, possibility.
WC: 2043
You swiftly dart across the sidewalk and allow for the comfortable familiarity to engulf you, the same as it had so many years ago. The faint sound of your shoes whisper across the asphalt, wind dancing through your hair in the warm glow of the city lights as you move. Ducking behind a small hot dog stand, you force your back against its cool surface. Your dark clothing shrouds you in the night while you scan the area, tugging the black bandanna away from your mouth slightly and pressing a finger to the device in your ear. “Anything?” you breathe, coming into a crouch and peering over the vendor. Across the block, you faintly see a man’s head peeking around the corner of a store, and he motions to you with an exaggerated wave and a flash of purple. “Nothing” he replies, before motioning upwards and behind you, “we’re clear for now”.
Turning to the building you leap at the brick with a powerful push from your left leg; hauling yourself up the side and onto the roof with ease. “Awesome, nice going, Ray” you say, looking down and across the street to him. You can see him smile as he pulls away his hood to reveal his beaming face, giving you a big thumbs up before disappearing into the dark alley behind him and reappearing on an opposite roof moments later. You both simultaneously draw your weapons, the air rippling in anticipation. As you perch on the edge of the roof to overlook the small, dimly lit store with the knife clutched tightly in your hand, you see Ray centring his sniper rifle. “Right” he says cheerfully, staring into the scope “you should be good all the way.” You give a tight nod as you lean further into the open space, waiting for the guards to move into position.  “On my mark,” you tell him, watching as two men approach jovially and cross their arms, joking quietly with one another beneath you.
“Now,” you throw yourself gracefully off the ledge as the muffled shot rings out, the bullet hitting the guard to your left whilst you land on the back of the remaining man, who looks from his colleague’s collapsed body and up to you; his face a mask of shock. You offer him an apologetic smile before quickly running the knife across this throat, silencing the panicked noises that had begun to gurgle from his lips. Letting him fall gently you lay him on the ground before relocating the two men into the shadows, seating them against a wall. Wiping your knife on their clothing, you return it to its concealed location against your side. When you turn back to the roof Ray is grinning down upon you, and you wave. “Nice one,” you compliment, and he lets out a small chuckle as he crouches into his rifle again, “you fucking know it”. Making your way to the door you’re careful when plating your feet; pulling the lock pick from your boot. “Camera’s all sorted?” you ask absentmindedly, searching for the correctly sized instrument as you continue to approach your target. “Yup” he responds, “the feed was cut before we even hit the street.”
“And you double checked the guard route, no last minute changes?”
Ray scoffs “You doubting me?”
“I would never” you smirk, feeling his eyes watching your back; cautious and protective. “So,” he mutters into the com as you bend to the lock and begin to work, “come here often?” You roll your eyes, hearing the faint click of the tumblers before standing and gently easing the door open, pulling inside. “God, small talk is not your forte” you tease, taking in your surroundings with eager eyes. “Ooh, that explains everything,” he jives, his voice saturated with disappointment as you laugh.
Pulling a burlap sack from your backpack, you inch around the displays of glittering jewels and head towards the cash terminal to remove the final security measure. “I always wondered why I couldn’t get girls to talk to me” he continues as you reach for the security lock under the desk, hearing a faint pop as you click it off. “Oh trust me, there are other reasons” you fire back through a smile, stopping to search for him outside. “Fucking wrecked,” he says chuckling. Your smile widens into a grin as you spot him, the faint dusting of moonlight illuminating his excited eyes.
“You ready? We’ll have about eight minutes before the remaining guards notice that there’s something off with the rotation,” you state, reciting the plan you had both gone over countless times before the operation had begun.  “We took out 3 groups,” he says slightly annoyed, “I still think we should have taken them all out.” “Nah” you shrug, approaching the closest case whilst slipping a brass knuckle on to your free hand, flexing your fingers as your eyes train onto your partner. “Where’s the fun in that?” Silence now, nothing but the wind rushing to accompany the odd buzzing of a street light and the distant sounds of late night city traffic. Your eyes remain on Ray, and then you see him nod; “Go.”
With speed you apply immense force to the glass with your knuckles, hearing the satisfying shatter as glass sprays the floor. Within an instant your scooping up everything you can, quickly getting it into your bag before moving on without hesitation. Refusing to break your stride you crack other display, a sweeping motion managing to get the contents into the bag. Ray’s voice crackles in your ear as you work diligently, confident and direct. “We’ve got the first verbal response” he states, “LSPD have been alerted, they’re rounding up a team as we speak.” You lean down, ripping out some draws and tipping the jewellery onto the collection, swiftly moving on. “Guards on their way now, we removed a good portion of the local rotation so it’ll take a while. We’re looking at maybe 6 minutes, tops.” “Great, keep me updated. When you see trouble,” another smash, another case emptied; “let me know and we’re gone.” “No problemo”
You kick out a foot, smashing a tall stand as glass showers in fragments around you, glittering like the diamonds encased within it. Lashing out, you swipe what you can before Ray comes through again. “Lights and sirens, about 3 minutes away; police are gonna get here a lot faster that we thought. They’re on high alert.” You swear under your breath before tying your now overflowing bag hastily and stowing it away. “The fuck happened to advance notice?” you question, exiting the building smoothly and throwing your arms up at him in exasperation. You see him stand, putting his sniper away and beckoning for you frantically, “you wanted fun” he says, but you can hear the concern hiding beneath his smirk.
You run towards Ray, forcing yourself upwards and onto the exterior wall with another strong bound from your left leg to move quickly up onto the roof; slower this time and weighed down by the stolen goods. “90 seconds” Ray warns, eyes sparkling in enjoyment as the sirens grow louder. “Wait,” you look up after hearing the booming sounds of helicopter blades slashing at the clouds and heading in your direction; giving Ray a pointed glare. “Choppers?” you demand while breaking into a sprint as Ray keeps pace with you, launching across the roofs before cautiously ducking behind cover. “You weren’t gonna say anything?”
He looks at you, chest heaving slightly as he pushes his hair back into his beanie. “Didn’t even occur to you to bring it up?” you scoff, head against the wall as you see the blinding light of a helicopter sweep over head, flinching into the bricks for cover. “What did you expect?” he retorts as you begin to move across the space cautiously, seeking the ladder that you knew would take you downwards to the street. “Choppers are literally a staple here” he grumbles, crawling over to you as you swing yourself onto the rusty metal, sliding down as your hands catch and burn. You peer up at him, realising that he was in fact right. Still, unable to admit it, you hold up your hand and raise your middle finger.
“Classy, you’re a real catch,” he works his way down the ladder and you sink to your knees, hearing the screeching of wheels pulling up to the now empty jewellers. “No, really” he whispers as he presses forward, beckoning you down the alley, “like, you’re just a pleasure.” You punch him gently as you pass, light on your feet as you move towards the designated side door hideaway. “Again, proving my point!” he jokes as you yank open the door and slip inside, holding it for him. “Such a lady” he mutters, sliding down to join you on the floor.
In the dark you both wait in silence, nothing but the heavy drumming of your hearts to fill the space. Breathing heavily, you listen to the commotion outside as Ray tunes in to the police’s communication channel, monitoring them to determine when you’ll be all clear to start moving again.  Rolling your head to look at him you jab him in the side, making him jump; “I’m such a fucking lady” you say to him, before sniggering. He joins you, your soft laughter mingling together and you listen to the sirens and yelling fade away.
Walking with purpose you make your way down the cluttered street and to the park, a large sunhat and sunglasses shielding your face from the throngs of curious eyes. Perching on an isolated bench you pull out a book and begin to busy yourself with pretending to read whilst looking around, waiting for the client to arrive. Time passes slowly, the heat beating down against the bare skin of your shoulders while your jeans soak in the sun. A man approaches you in a suit from the foliage, his arms opening to welcome you as if you were familiar to one another.
Standing, you force a smile onto your face and embrace him, feeling him pull away after an exaggerated moment. You bag becomes heavier as he deposits the payment in a sweeping motion, unnoticeable now that his hands delicately adorn your waist. You stare up into his muddy blue eyes, wrapping your arms around his neck to lean intimately towards the man whose name you will never remember. “Ready to go?” you tease, playing with the back of his hair. He blushes, despite himself. “Yeah” he says clumsily, touching you under the chin before moving his hand down to clasp your own. Motioning for you both to start moving, you offer him the book innocently; the goods buried inside.
“It’s a gem” you joke, swinging your hands slightly as you walk, heading towards the final stage of the interaction. After walking a few blocks in near silence you stop outside of a small cafe, bright yellow sun umbrellas decorating its outside tables. Turning to your client you give him a smile, leaning up to brush your cheek against his own in what you hope appears to be an intimate gesture. “It was nice doing business with you,” you say before he holds you out at arm’s length, smiling once more and disappearing into the crowd ruefully. Letting your face relax, you head over to an empty table, settling on to the warm wooden bench.
Moments later Ray joins you, smirking and clutching a tablet. “He didn’t even check” he says, astonished as he drops into the seat opposite you. You laugh musically as a waiter approaches, ordering drinks as so to avoid suspicion. “I’m a little disappointed” you admit, “I put a lot of work into getting them as accurate as possible.” Ray rolls his eyes, their depths sparkling in the warm glow of the day as they regard you with affectionate pride. “But just think of it” he says, folding his arms behind his head and leaning back, tilting his face to the sun; “they’ll be handed down for generations before anyone notices they’re fakes.”
“And we’ll be long gone by then” you conclude, before a monumental explosion surges through the streets, dousing the airport in flames.

Send in yo' requests ~ final's week relief
I'm sure you're wondering why I've gathered you at this ungodly hour (it's 9:41am and I have so much school shite I should be doing but therz no time) Fellow readers and lurkers, reading fanfics have kept me up days in a row (back when I went to a traditional fckn school) and I would get up and read them specifically in government/Econ because we'd work on group projects so we'd lounge in the library while on our laptops and phones working and listening to music and I'd also be reading Matt peake x reader ff (sHHSHHH don't tell my Econ teacher) ANYWAYS! I know x reader ff have kept me occupied and helped get me out of anxious times during finals so I'd like to be able to write and provide the same for those alike: However I can't do much without your own thoughts, your preferences, prompts, specific requests, non specific requests, song requests, etc. You name it, send it in via anon, non anon, message, post. So I wrote a fanfiction a while ago on ArchiveofOurOwn. Since I'm making this blog about Fanfics and AUs and stuff, I thought I should post something about mine; it's a Mad King X Reader set in the X-Ray and Vav (if they had real powers) universe. You are a mortal kidnapped by Mad King that is kidnapped by him for ransom. Slowly the two of you start to fall in love. It's complete, so you can read all of it. Let me know what you think!

Barely Even Just Friends (Pt. One)
A/N: Two fics one day. Let’s do this. Prompt: “i moved to this new city and the only person i know here is you i know we’re just acquaintances but something happened and i need help” AU featuring Ray and Reader? Maybe a little fluff or smut at the end? Warning: sexual references Summary: It’s weird being new in town. Even weirder when you keep running into some guy you barely know. Even more so when someone he knows has your phone number.
——
As you compared the two food items in your hands, idly looking over the package with unyielding disinterest. A voice broke you out of your trance-something familiar but strange at the same time. The voice wasn’t low but wasn’t high-somewhat smooth and soothing-but the laugh pulled something from your memory.
Approximately two weeks ago is where your memory places the laugh, at night, at someone else’s home. It floods your memory, a pair of lips and hands yanking soft moans from your throat and soft, slightly stubbly cheeks rubbing against your neck. That familiar laugh and voice telling you that you’re too beautiful to be here with him. You don’t remember what you said in response but it didn’t break the atmosphere.
You look up from the packaged items and you recognize him as the same person. Some name that starts with an R-Riley? Randal? Richard? Fuck-you couldn’t remember and it doesn’t matter as long as he doesn’t see you-or recognize you. You try to keep a low profile and pass by him, but you couldn’t help but steal a glance at him again-choosing the worst moment for a clean get away and accidentally locking eyes with him.
Every masculine sounding name starting with R blurred through your head before settling on Ray-that was his name. Ray awkwardly looked away as soon as it registered that you knew he was looking at you, soliciting a short laugh at the strangeness of the situation. You decided to break the sadness and smiled kindly, resting your arms on the handlebar of your cart.
“Hey-Ray right?” You grin, looking over his face.
“Uh-yeah.” He looks back at you and nods, awkwardly smiling. This has gone further than you anticipated. “[Y/N]?”
“Yeah-I-what’s up?” You ask, not sure of what else to say, confidently meeting his line of sight.
“Not much-how’ve you been?” He answers, pushing the sleeves of his purple hoody up to his elbows. You look down at his hands and arms, noticing a tattoo of a rubber duck inside a star and segmented circle on the back of one hand and the word “LADS” across his knuckles on the other, letter by letter. You quickly look back up in his eyes, your jaw slightly open, at a loss for words at the moment.
“Fine-” you can’t ignore the sight of him writing beneath you as your mouth worked around his hard cock-teasing and playing with him. You can’t think of this right now. So desperately you tried to push it out of your mind, wanting for focus on his tattoos but only seeing the very same hands caressing you just over how weeks ago. You looked at his glasses, focusing on them. “I’m still getting lost and don’t know where I am half the time.” You muse, earning a small chuckle from him.
“Maybe I could show you around?” He offers cooly, putting the hand with the knuckle tattoo into his jean pocket.
“I’d like that. Still have my number?” You ask with a flirtatious grin. He nods and returns the grin with a wink, heading towards another side of the aisle, keeping eye contact with you as he ran into displays or racks for smaller items. You laughed to yourself and couldn’t look away from him, wondering how this was the same man who talked his way into getting you in his bed.
——
Over the course of the next couple week, you ran into Ray more times than you thought possible for a city the size of Los Santos. The conversations you held barely dipping past something superficial or just steering away from the conversation about the circumstances of your first encounter. Every now and then your could see it play over and over in your head and could only pray that he couldn’t tell what you were thinking.
One afternoon on your way back home from a long, tiring day at work you couldn’t help but notice a sleek black car following you for a few blocks. You tried to lose them and eventually there was some space between the two of you. You received a text message when you were stopped at a red light, just saying for you to pull over. You did for a moment, about to pull out of the parking lot you were sitting in when your phone rang. An unfamiliar number was calling you-well it was the same number that had texted you.
“So-we saw you getting up close and personal with Ray, [Y/N],” A gruff voice jeered, sending shock through your system.
“Wait-what-who is this and how do you know my name?” You tried to lower your voice to hide any fear.
“That’s on need to know basis, and hon, you don’t need to know.” The voice growled, “Now, care to tell us about Ray’s criminal friends?”
To say you were shocked was an understatement, you were beyond confused, and scared and anxiety turned your blood to ice.
“What-”
“We know you two have been getting buddy-buddy. We have eyes. We need ears, that’s where we need you.”
“I-Uhm-I’ll think about it.” You quickly hung up, watching the sleek black car pass by you and as soon as it was a blip in the distant horizon, you called Ray.
Before he had a chance to say anything your shaky voice cut in. Tears pricked at your eyes from the possibilities your mind presented you.
“Something happened-and I need your help.”

“Mrs Kodzuken said if I win this I can see her boobs, so I need you to throw this.”
There’s a few chortles and some actual laughter the rings through the discord call, all voices that haven’t changed a bit since high school. Even with ridiculously busy schedules and time zone differences, they always reserved Thursday’s to either play a game or watch movies over discord.
Tonight, was no different. Fukunaga, Lev, and Kuroo stood absolutely no chance in beating Kenma this game, but the lighthearted joke seemed to reignite the group.
“Why do we have to lose so you can see boobs?” Fukunaga asks incredulously.
“Yeah!” Lev chimes. “Aren’t you married or something?”
“It’s because Kenma still giggles when he sees titties,” kuroo teases, and Kenma offers him an eye roll that he’s sure his friend can’t see, but knows him well enough to know he did.
“We are, and I do, but it hits different when you get incentive to win. So, with all due respect, choke.”
It’s the last few turns, ready to end the game for the night. Lev’s already lost his stars to Fukunaga, now he’s just playing for fun, pretending his saltiness is real to keep the mood silly, Kuroo being as cocky as ever.
But it’s obvious, to everyone in the call, that Kenma is going to win this round. By a long shot.
Kenma smirks softly to himself when he hears the door creak open and your socked feet shuffle over the hardwood and small rug in the center of his gaming room.
“You have the stealth of a turd in the toilet,” he says, ignoring his friends laughing as he hears you giggle. He swivels the chair to let you plop on his thigh, watching fondly as you get comfortable.
“I just didn’t know if you wanted me in here,” you hum, looping your arms around his neck.
“You know you don’t have to ask to be in here,” he scoffs, smiling. “You wanna come play?”
You shake your head and nudge your nose against his temple, “no… just wanted to be next to you.” You take an inhale against the warm skin of his neck, “missed you.”
“Don’t sniff me like that,” he snorts. “I haven’t showered.”
“Hey, snugglebug!” Kuroo’s voice teases through the headset, causing kenma to roll his eyes again and pause the game to give you his full attention.
“What’s up, baby?”
You smile and squeeze him tighter, “I just wanted to see you… I know Thursday’s are for the boys, but-“
“Fuck the boys,” he mumbles. Again, there’s a chorus of ‘hey!’s that come from his headset and you laugh to yourself. He clicks his tongue and mutes himself and the chat, shifting slightly in his chair to cradle what he can of you. “You just feeling needy?”
You nod softly, cheeks splitting into a smile when he noses your temple affectionately. “I’ll be down soon I’d you wanted to watch some YouTube or something.” You nod against him and he resumes the game to let you watch. “Alright boys, most important member of the band’s back.”
“I didn’t miss you,” Kuroo says confidently.
You do smile wider as you shift easily to watch the battle mini game that’s breaking out between Fukunaga and Kuroo, their screams of distress ringing over the call as you watch.
Fukunaga wins. Kuroo shrieks.
“Alright,” you sigh. “I’ll leave you alone.” You slip from Kenma’s lap swiftly, and he watches fondly. “I just wanted to see Kuroo lose.”
“You wound me,” his voice snarls over the call.
You snicker before stretching softly, and Kenma thinks nothing of it at first.
Then, his brow twitches. In his peripheral, he sees you hide your laughter. He sniffs the air, and feels fond embarrassment settle in his soul.
“Are you kidding?”
Your giggles can be heard on the discord call.
Lev, clearly confused, offers Kenma a quick “what happened?”
“Why do you do that every time I’m playing my games?”
“Why do what?” Kuroo chimes.
“You gotta come across the damn house to fart in my damn office?”
This, now, has the entire call cackling, gawfs and wheezes breaking through and cutting over the mics, and while you cackle and dash out of the door to leave him alone with your… smell, he shakes his head as the results load.
He’ll get you back later.
And as anticipated, Kenma won, and Fukunaga seems to be the only one handling the loss.
Kuroo and Lev? Not so much.
“BY THREE COINS!” Kuroo shrieks, mic cutting out at his distress. “I LOST BY THREE FUCKIN’ COINS?!”
“I LOST ALL MY STARS ON MY LAST TURN, KUROO,” Lev screams back. “GET OVER YOUR GODDAMNED THREE COINS!”
“THAT HURTS MORE, YOU FUCKHEAD!”
“Dunno what their problem is,” he sighs contently, smirking softly to himself. “I’m seeing boobs tonight.”
“You know what man, I’m proud of you.” There’s only a hint of sarcasm falling from Fukunaga’s tone, but Kenma decides to take it as the bickering of the other two fills the call once again.
Kenma decides, among the yelling and teasing and your fart-filled-affection, it’s a Thursday he’s always down to enjoy.
“Have fun with your boobs.”
“Oh, I will.”

The Void Chapter Nine
Pairings: (eventual) Jason Todd x Reader
Tag list: @clea-nightingale, @wittedhat, @reclusive-chicken-nugget, @undertheredhood
Word Count: 3709
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7a, 7b, 8
Summary:  The Void is a hellish place filled with screams that echoed throughout the place at all the hours of the night, and where pain is a very close friend. You’ve spent your entire life in the Void, having been there since you were ten and you’ve just recently gotten a new cellmate… Who’s a little more hopeful than you are that either of you are going to make it out of this place alive. Though you have to admit that maybe his hope is rubbing off on you because you slowly find yourself hoping that the two of you do get out of here
“Fuck, fuck, fuck.” Barbara panted as she raced through the hallways of Wayne manor, her hand tightly gripping her tablet as she slid around the corner nearly falling on her ass in the process.
“Shit!” Barbara shouted barely managing to catch herself on the corner, pulling herself up and out of her fall and pushing herself off the wall in the process.
“You’re running late too?” Barbara heard behind her and she glanced behind her to see Kate running towards her as well and a small smile spread across her face.
“Yeah I got caught in traffic, you?” Barbara panted out the two of them sliding to a stop in the study where the manor entrance to the batcave was located.
“Had to stop a bank robbery.” Kate panted out as she leaned against the desk catching her breath as Barbara walked up to the grandfather clock. Reaching up Barbara moved the hour hand to the number nine then to the number three before reaching down and pulling one of the weights. Taking a step back Barbara breathed heavily as the clock slid back and to the side revealing a long dark hallway and Barbara glanced back at Kate as she walked up to her.
“How pissed do you think Bruce will be?” Barbara asked as the two of them started lightly jogging down the hallway.
“On a scale of one to ten he’s going to at least be a solid annoyed/disappointed father.” Kate commented as the two of them turned and jogged down a slope before they came out onto a catwalk that stood over the batcomputer. From where they were they could see the others standing around the holographic map of Gotham that was situated behind the batcomputer near the railing that separated them from the second floor where the vehicles were. As the two of them stepped out onto the catwalk the others immediately looked up at them with unimpressed expressions.
“You’re late.” Damian stated as he watched the two of them make their way down the stairs. Barbara and Kate both rolled their eyes as they shared a look as they walked over to them.
“Sorry I got caught up in traffic on the way over.” Barbara stated giving Damian a look that he ‘tsked’ at before looking away from Barbara and back at the map.
“And I had to stop a bank robbery on the way here.” Kate explained as she dropped her bag to the ground as she leaned against the map still trying to catch her breath. Bruce ‘hmmed’ as he watched the two of them giving them a silent look of disappointment.
“Dick, Roy, what did you two manage to find?” Bruce asked, turning and looking at them causing the two of them to stand up a little straighter at suddenly having Bruce’s attention.
“Nothing much at first. Half the people we tried to talk to wouldn’t talk to us and the other half would all just repeat what the others that had walked about which was that the Void was a very very scary place and that if we had crossed paths with it we should count ourselves lucky that we didn’t get caught up in their shit, so nothing overall useful. But it does cross off the Hoovervilles near Amusement Mile, Old Gotham, and Main St.” Dick told them as he reached out and tapped at the map creating red x’s wherever his finger touched.
“Crime Alley’s Hoovervilles however proved to be kinder to us, oddly enough. I managed to convince a few people to actually explain to me what these people do and basically they go around kidnaping people off the streets, mainly the homeless. Sometimes they kidnap them just by right grabbing them, other times they promise people food and shelter and then they’re never seen again. Some of the people I talked to even said that they’ve seen them take normal people off the streets.” Roy added on as he circled his finger over the areas in Crime Alley where the Hoovervilles that had given him the information.
“Did you manage to get any names?” Bruce asked and Roy nodded.
“A few names, I handed them over to Kate and Babs to see if they showed up in any of the databases.” Roy said as he looked over at Kate and Barbara. Barbara nodded as she shifted, lifting her tablet up so that she could see the screen and she tapped at it a couple of times before swiping up. The map fell away from the table and was replaced with the files that Barbara had on her tablet.
“So out of the ten names that Roy gave us two of them ended up having no connection to the Void whatsoever.” Barbara started explaining as she tapped at her screen moving the files around on her tablet to bring up the one she was talking about.
“Which one is that?” Roy asked as he looked down at the table watching as Barbara opened up the file for everyone to see the information inside.
“This is Ryan Haywood, he went missing sometime around May 6th according to the witness who reported him missing to the police. At first the initial case revealed that Haywood hadn’t gone missing but had actually killed himself by driving his car off of a cliff. But as it turns out he faked his own death, and having looked through his extensive medical history, to escape from someone. He now lives in Los Santos with someone called Jeremy Dooley.” Barbara explained as she tapped on Haywood’s case file, closing it, before she swiped it away leaving only the other name.
“And this one is Ray Narvaez Jr. he went missing a little after Haywood did and at first there were no leads as to where he had gone and we thought that he might have been taken by the void. But then we ran his picture through the facial recognition program and came back with a possible match on a John Doe that was brought into the morgue a couple of months ago with multiple stab wounds. I went and got some samples from the John Doe at the morgue and we ran it through the system and it came back with a positive match to Narvaez. So while Narvaez is no longer missing it is now an open murder investigation.” Kate finished off as Barbara swiped away Narvaez’s file.
“And what exactly makes these two different from the other cases?” Damian asked as he crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned back against the railing as he watched Barbara and Kate.
“You mean other than the fact that we were able to solve these cases?” Kate asked and Damian nodded.
“Simple really because these people left absolutely no trace as to where they could have gone, who could have taken them, and no one in all of the background checks that we did had a history that would warrant them being kidnapped. And when I say that they didn’t have a history I mean these people never once stole anything, not even as a kid, do you guys have any idea how rare that is?” Kate asked and the others shrugged in agreement.
“So you’re absolutely certain that these people are connected to the Void?” Bruce asked and both Kate and Barbara nodded.
“As certain as we can be with the amount of information that we have, yes.” Barbara stated as she nodded her head once. Bruce ‘hmmed’ as he stared at the case files still up on the table scanning through each one before looking towards Tim, Cass, and Damian.
“What did you all manage to find in the alley where Jason went missing?” He asked and Cass stepped forward picking up a back and dumped it out. Jason’s helmet, phone, wallet, knife, and the trackers fell out onto the table and everyone was silent for a moment as they stared at the items before Cass spoke.
“The only things missing are Jason’s guns and the rest of his knives and explosives, we can only assume that the people who took him ran out of time to disarm him and took everything else.” Cass stated as she looked up at Bruce.
“After combing the area for anything else that could have been left behind we were able to find some tire tracks.” Damian added on as he moved Jason’s stuff off to the side of the table, careful to stop it from falling to the ground as he tapped at the screen, swiping it away to another screen, and pulled up the pictures of the tire tracks.
“Initially it was only a partial of the actual track but I decided to run it through the systems anyways and I got 160 matches,” Tim stated as he took control of the table away from Damian and pulled up all the possible matches that he had found. “Once I had my baseline I narrowed it down to a van or a truck with a cover cause I figured that the Void would need a vehicle that could handle transporting several people at once and that narrowed my matches down to 60.”
“Then I-”
“Tim please, this is all very fascinating but time isn’t really something that we have in abundance right now so if you could please.” Dick interrupted his explanation and Tim cleared his throat as he swiped at the screen.
“Right, well needless to say I took 160 matches and narrowed it down to a manageable five. One belongs to the Penguin, one belongs to Falcone, the hospital, Black Mask, and some rich guy in upper east side Gotham.” Tim told them and Bruce was silent as he looked at the matches.
“Cass, Damian you take Penguin.” “Yes, father.” Damian said as him and Cass took off without another word.
“Dick, Roy, you two check the hospital.” Dick and Roy nodded the two of them rushing to their own vehicles.
“Babs, Kate, you handle Black Mask. Tim, Stephanie, you two take the Rich guy, I’ve got Falcone.” Bruce stated, the four of them already leaving as he turned around and grabbed his cowl and started walking towards the batmobile. This was going to be a long, long, night he could already tell.
~The Void~
Jason grunted as he hit the ground, his hands scraping against the harsh concrete which only served to add to the throbbing pain that was his body at this point. Behind him the guards towered over him laughing at him as they watched him flinch in pain as he pushed off the floor, rolling on to his back. He glared up at the guards who were grinning evil down at him.
“Well, well well would you look at that boys, looks like he’s still got a little fight left in him.” One of the guards said as he stepped into the room his smile turned vicious as he cracked his knuckles.
“So it would seem and here I was thinking we had actually managed to beat it out of him. Oh well I guess that just means we’ll have to go for round two.” The second guard said as he watched Jason, who continued to glare up at them. His hands balled into fists and despite the pain, and the blackness creeping in around the edges of his vision, if it was a fight they wanted it was a fight they were going to get.
“Didn’t Dr. Roberts say that the punishments were supposed to be kept in their designated rooms?” The third guard asked as he glanced around the hallway, watching the other guards and nurses doing their rounds before looking back at the other two.
“Relax newbie, what the dear old doc doesn’t know won’t hurt him.” The first guard said as he walked up to standing next to Jason who was eying him wearily. His muscles tensing which caused him to clench his jaw as he pulled on bruised and torn muscles, sprained and fractured bones.
“Besides how many of our men did he kill and put in the hospital wing with that little show him and that bitch put on? I’d say he’s got more than one beating coming to him.” The second guard said as he stepped into the room as well and Jason grunted as he went to push himself up into a standing position. He wasn’t going down without a fight, not this time. Before he could even think of getting on to his knees the guard standing next to him sent a swift kick to Jason’s side sending him sprawling to the ground coughing and wheezing as he struggled to breath. He would be lucky if that kick hadn’t broken one of his ribs and punctured his lung. Hell he’d be lucky if he came out with anything in tack period.
“Yeah but don’t we have somewhere to be?” The new guard asked as he hesitantly looked around the corridor, terrified of seeing either Dr. Roberts or Dr. Stevens coming down the hall.
“Pfft, please it’s just a subject transfer for Dr. Smith but tell you what kid if you’re really worried about what’ll happen if we get caught why don’t you go and take care of that transport for us huh?” The guard who had kicked Jason stated as he looked away from Jason to the newbie. The newbie hesitated for a moment shifting back and forth as he looked between the door and his fellow guards before stepping into the room, the other two grinning.
“Good, now why don’t you give him a good kick, I’m sure it’ll make you feel better.” The second guard said as he stepped over to the door to keep watch and the newbie stepped forward. Jason glared up at him, his jaw clenched and the newbie looked towards the first guard who nodded once and then back at Jason. Before he brought his foot down on Jason’s outstretched hand grinding his heel into the back of Jason’s hand. Jason couldn’t stop the scream that tore free from his throat as he curled in on himself, his other hand flying out to grip at the guard’s ankle pushing at him desperately trying to free his hand from the torment.
“Gah! Let go of me!” The guard shouted as he jerked his leg free from Jason’s grasp glaring down at him. The guard kicked Jason in his side again, snarling as he did so and the guard opened his mouth to say something but was stopped as the guard in the doorway was pushed aside by Dr. Stephen.
“Hey! What the hell do you three idiots do you think you’re doing?” Dr. Stephen shouted as he stormed into the room, the guards jumping back from Jason who grinned internally as he watched the guards cower away from the doctor.
“Giving this subject what he deserves.” The first guard stated his voice surprisingly firm despite the fear that shown in his eyes.
“By breaking his fucking ribs?” Dr. Stephen growled out as he stalked forward, the guards taking another step back, eyes moving between Dr. Stephen and Jason unsure of what to do. Dr. Stephen crouched down next to Jason, who tensed at the closeness of the doctor, and peeled back Jason’s shirt. Dr. Stephen stared at his already wrapped ribs and the cuts and bruises that littered his torso before he reached out and pressed on Jason’s ribs. Jason sucked in a sharp breath through his teeth, his hands curling into fists which only increased the pain he was feeling as his right hand throbbed.
“You’re fucking lucky they’re not broken you dumbasses. Get the fuck out of here and go do your fucking jobs and when you’re done come and see me.” Dr. Stephen commanded them as he threw Jason’s shirt down and stood up.
“Did I fucking stutter? Get moving!” Dr. Stephen shouted when the guards didn’t get moving right away. The guards scrambled out of the room and Dr. Stephen sighed heavily as he followed after them grumbling under his breath about how they were all stupid pig headed idiots.
The door slammed closed behind Dr. Stephen. Jason laid there for several more minutes just staring up at the ceiling trying to get his breathing and pain back under control before he grunted and pushed himself up into a sitting position. His muscles screamed in protest, the pain spiking again, and Jason did his best to ignore it as he moved on to his knees. Panting heavily, Jason held that position, fighting the urge to throw up, before he climbed up on his feet. His legs shook violently as they threatened to give out on him and for a brief moment he was terrified that his legs were going to give out on him but he still managed to stagger his way over to his bed before he collapsed. Groaning Jason dragged the rest of his body up onto the bed before rolling over to stare up at the ceiling.
~Several Hours Later~
Jason groaned as he sat up on the bed leaning back against the wall as he stared across at your empty bed. It had been hours since he had been brought back from his “punishment” and they had yet to bring you back. He would have thought by now that they would have brought you back, after all how long could a punishment possibly take? His certainly hadn’t taken that long so it wasn’t like yours could be longer. But then again you had been nervous about attempting to escape, hesitant and unwilling even, so there had to be a reason for all of that right? There had to be a reason as to why you were so afraid to escape, obviously the punishment was one of the reasons but you couldn’t possibly be that scared of a guard beating not when it was clear you had gone through so much else. So what made you so afraid? What made you so nervous about escaping?
Jason froze as he realized the path that his mind was beginning to travel down, his hands curling around the edge of the bed as he glared at the floor. He hated this. Hated the fear that came with not knowing if you would come back from your punishment or not. Hated the guilt that was eating him alive right now. Hated the worry that came with the guilt that i-when you got back you wouldn’t talk to him again, that it would be just like day one all over again. Hated the uncertainty of not knowing when the guards would come back. Hated the anger that was slowly building up inside of him, it was the same sort of anger that he had felt when he had come back from the pit all those years ago, the anger that had driven him to murdering and slaughtering his way through every back alley criminal he had come across. The same sort of anger that had turned him into a monster and had broken him more than the Joker and Bruce already had. But most importantly he hated how all those emotions, all that anger, were because of you, for you. He hated how without saying much of anything, without doing anything, you had still managed to worm your way past his defenses, past all his walls, and carefully crafted facades, and make him feel things that he had thought he buried long ago, and he was powerless to do anything against the growing changes inside of him and he hated it. Hated it.
His thoughts were interrupted however by the door to the cell opening once again, his body tensing as he turned his glare away from the floor and towards the door. Sucking in a sharp breath through his teeth Jason’s eyes widened at the scene before him watching as the guards dragged your unconscious form through the door.
Water dripped from your hair and blood stained the stark white bandages that had been wrapped around your entire upper body providing some form of cover to your otherwise naked upper half. Your arms were covered in rivlets of dried blood and your wrists had been bandaged as well. Jason watched as the guards laid you down on the floor not dropping you as they had him but also not moving you to the bed either. The door closed with a slam and the rest of the world seemed to drown out as Jason stared at your unconscious form. His heart beat starting to race as he jumped from the bed, his pain a distant memory.
“Oh god. Oh god. (Y/N)? (Y/N)? (Y/N)?!” Jason shouted as he dropped to his knees beside you, his hands reaching out and cupping your face, turning you to look at him. Your eyes remained closed and he could feel his heart beating against his chest as he let go of your face.
“Oh god, please don’t be dead, please don’t be dead, please don’t be dead.” Jason repeated over and over as he pressed his fingers to your neck desperately trying to feel around for a pulse. He couldn’t find one.
“No, no , no, no, no. No. Come on, come on.” Jason muttered as he pressed his fingers harder against your throat moving them up and down and across but still unable to feel your pulse.
“Fuck.” Moving further down your body Jason bent down pressing his ear against your chest and forcing his own heart beat to settle down as he strained to listen for your heartbeat. After what felt like an eternity though he finally heard it, it was faint, barely even there, but it was there nonetheless and so wasn’t you’re breathing as shallow as that may be. Falling back onto his knees Jason breathed out a sigh of relief as he ran his fingers through his hair and stared down at you. Another moment of silence passed as he continued to stare at you the relief he felt at hearing your heartbeat steadily being eaten away by guilt the longer he stared at you.
“I’m sorry.”

SUMMARY: The rescue mission takes an emotional turn as the crew comes face to face with the members they had lived three years believing to be dead.
WARNING: Graphic depictions of violence, blood & gore
WC: 2209
The noise that rips its way out of Ryan’s mouth is enraged and animalistic as he surges after Gareth, charging with his shoulder to force him against the plaster wall, desperate to get him as far away from you as possible. His body impacts against the surface with a sickening crunch, cracks tracing the shape of his shoulders against the wall as if his breath had escaped and fused with the building. With a growl, the Vagabond slams Gareth’s head backwards, hands wrapping like clamps around his throat; his thumbs resting on his chin as he begins to crush his windpipe.
Distracted and filled with resentment, he doesn’t notice the grunts entering until they’re on top of him, momentarily allowing Gareth a window of opportunity to escape. Slipping free with a pained and choked gasp, the rival man’s eyes are daggers as he watches his men trying to subdue the Vagabond’s rage. “Well” says Gareth while wincing, readjusting his collar and gingerly stepping around as the masked man; of who lashes out to grab one of the men. Viciously, he hurls him into the wall headfirst, his neck ramming into his spine as he crumples into an immobile heap. Managing to struggle to the doorway, Gareth spares a shudder as Ryan turns to the remaining grunt, the Vagabond latching onto him and digging his fingers into the man’s throat, causing blood to spurt as his nails pierce the skin and close off his air supply; “I think it’s my time to leave.”
He swiftly pulls a sticky bomb from his person, hurling it across the room and out into the hallway, the beeping only ceasing once a powerful explosion rips open the wall. Moving effortlessly he makes his way across the floor and out of the gaping hole before Jeremy is able to grab him, his fingers skidding against the fabric on his wrists. Swearing; his eyes prick and stomach churns as the clatter of a smoke grenade hitting the floor, seeing panic bubble inside of his chest while he lurches further into the room to take cover.
The loud pop is followed by a sharp fizzle, smoke emanating from the small object and leaving the men choking, engulfing the space and swirling into their lungs. White and thick, shadows are all that remain of their hindered vision, blinded and confused. Crawling and feeling across the floor, Jeremy attempts to find you, his fingers touching a cool metal object that stings at his skin. With a start, he realises his fingers are curling around your cybernetic leg; his stomach twisting unhappily as he pulls it closer and attaches it to his side.
The sound of gunfire echoes through the door, the shots ringing out in quick succession while Jeremy heaves; chest burning as he sees a Gavin-shaped shadow rush into the white haze, golden pistols in hands. “There’s more on the way” he states breathlessly, rubbing his eyes with a fist, his eyelids burning as he searches and grabs Jeremy’s arm; pulling him towards the door “We have to leave, now.” “No!” yells Jeremy, his voice harsher than intended “we have to get them.” “This isn’t a hostage situation, J; we can’t bring them!”
“They aren’t hostages” Ryan’s voice is strained, tense and pained. “Gavin, help Jeremy with Ray” he instructs the two men, but Gavin doesn’t move; too shocked by his words. “Ray?” he stammers, eyes wide and searching through the smoke, panic rising. Ryan draws closer as the smoke billows around his form softly, now visible and cradling you to his chest with gentleness Jeremy had never witnessed from the Vagabond.  Pushing his confusion aside, he directs Gavin towards Ray, a semi-conscious pile on the ground, and begins to lift him; balancing his weight between himself and a silently sobbing Gavin.
“Geoff!” Bellows Ryan, the name ricocheting through the hallways as he escapes the room, holding your body close to his chest. “Geoff, we need a medic!” he tries to call again, his voice catching in his throat; Jeremy and Gavin stumbling behind the Vagabond as he twists and turns through the hallways. following the sound of the returning voice. “Get out the front, you assholes!” Geoff stands tall and yelling between a flurry of gunfire, shooting indiscriminately at the few remaining men atop the hill as he becomes visible.
Working his way through the building, the cool air does little to ease the fire raging inside the Vagabond as he pulls up to Geoff, taking cover by pressing himself against the wall. With a clumsy action, Jeremy and Gavin do the same, Ray letting out a small moan as his body rocks against the brick. Stealing the man’s attention, all Ryan can utter is a desperate “please” as he holds out your limp body to Geoff, his eyes pleading and bloodshot.
Geoff stops, ducking away from the returning fire and joining his crew to peer at your body as it is cradled to Ryan’s chest, his face shifting from the confusion sparked by Vagabond’s out of character generosity and kindness to that of anguish and disbelief. Reaching out, he brushes the hair from your face with a tattooed hand; his touch as gentle as the gasp that leaves his lips. Rushing over to Jeremy and Gavin, he lifts up Ray’s head, watching as the younger man blinks back at him in disorientation, slipping in and out of consciousness.
“How is this..?” he can’t finish his sentence, unable to find the words as his head shakes back and forth. “Geoff, please” Ryan urges, again offering your body to him, his face dressed in pain, “I have to get to Michael.” Nodding silently, Geoff takes you into his arms, extremely cautious when handling you; careful of your wounds and slowly weeping leg. “She needs Jack, now.” “C’mon sweetheart” he coos down to you, holding you tightly as he begins to jog to the waiting vehicle; “we’re not losing you this time.”
Jeremy and Gavin are quick to haul Ray after their boss, keeping a steady pace and throwing a glance back to Ryan as he settles into the Vagabond again, his eyes crazed as he shoots each of the remaining men without error before he races back into the building; following the early embers of the flame-happy demolition man.
“Jack!” Geoff roars, approaching the van as quickly and smoothly as his legs will carry him, shielding your face from the spray of dirt erupting from the sticky bombs Jack was hurling from the vehicle’s roof. “I thought you said we weren’t doing hostages” Jack growls, her red hair whipping around her face viciously, face set into a scowl. “We’ve gotta get moving” Geoff pants up to her, but she doesn’t turn to acknowledge him, instead funneling her concentration into clearing the road in preparation for the escape. “Get down!” she cries before tossing another explosive at the embankment, a lone, pained scream and sharp gurgle signalling that all the men had perished.
Hopping down she readies herself to lecture the rest of the crew, and remind them that hostages in this situation would only do more harm than good; but then her eyes fall on Ray, his groans of pain becoming stronger and more noticeable. Her attention then moves to you, curled in Geoff’s arms and shaking beneath the cold sweat locking your being into unconsciousness as her face contorting in horror and guilt.
“What in the fuck, Geoffrey?” she demands, but Geoff is already moving towards the back of the van; “there’s no time.” Jack’s fingers clutch the handle before sliding the door open, helping Geoff lower you carefully onto the makeshift medical gurney installed in the back; “She needs immediate attention”. Geoff then turns to help load Ray inside, grateful that as the man begins to regain consciousness his limbs cooperate with their efforts. Lying him down gently by your side, he beckons a shell shocked, badly bruised Jeremy and softly weeping Gavin into the van after him.
Swinging into the front seat, he starts up the engine, peeling away and circling the building to relocate towards the pickup point as Jack begins to tend to you. Swerving towards the flames, Geoff flinches instinctively, before turning to throw Jeremy a hard look; “What the fuck is going on?” Jeremy shakes himself, dragging his gaze away from your bruised face to stare at Geoff with a tormented expression; but he is unable to pull the words from inside him. “Jesus, Jeremy” Geoff growls, screeching to a stop, Gavin scurrying to the van’s door and swinging it open to beckon the distant figures of Ryan and Michael; “why the hell are you hanging out with my dead crew?!”
The explosion erupting from the building cuts off Jeremy’s reply, the shattering of glass flying towards the van as everyone shields themselves. Quickly, Ryan and Michael run to the vehicle and clamber into the van as Geoff pulls away, putting as much distance as possible between the rest of the crew and the now blazing building. Panting heavily, Michael collapses to his knees besides Ray, face covered in soot and sweat, eyes searching his face is disbelief.
“Ray?” Michael’s voice cracks as he shakes a man he never expected to see again, face paling as Ray groans and coughs. Slowly, his eyes drift open, squinting as he takes in his surroundings, before flinching at the sight of the crew; staring sadly at him. “I... err, what?” he manages, his voice raspy as it forces its way out of his bruised, constricted throat to pierce the heaviness in the air; “I don’t understand-“ his words are cut off as Michael hugs him, face screwed up as his emotions get the better of him; shaking. Taken aback, Ray winds his arms around Michael, of who is now struggling to hold in the tears. It takes a moment for Ray to process the situation before closing his eyes and letting go of his anger; clinging tightly to his friend. “We thought we’d lost you” chokes Michael, his voice thick with tears; “oh god we lost you”.
Watching the display the crew is shaking and silent, thought Jack continues to work, remaining incredibly stable on her feet as Geoff flings the getaway car around corners and darts through the streets. Unable to look away, Jeremy watches as the Vagabond removes his mask, tears trickling slowly down his smudged cheeks as he steps around Michael, offering the young man a gentle and comforting squeeze of the shoulder and ruffling Rays hair affectionately. He continues to scoot past Jack and towards your body; ignoring the fiery woman’s scolding. Gently he repositions you as best he can, resting your head in his lap whilst Jack checks your ribs for breakage or urgent damage, his hand running through your hair as he stares down at you; lost.
“Almost there” states Geoff, turning the final corner and racing down the street; skidding the van into the warehouse and opening his door simultaneously, jumping out as it pulls to a stop. Quickly, he is at the vans side door, ordering the crew out so that he can help get you to the medical bay. Clambering out, Ray struggles to maintain his balance, Gavin and Michael supporting him as he wobbles. Now standing in a huddle, the crew watch as the Vagabond stands, gently pulling you into his arms and swiftly following Jack.
“We have to get the shrapnel out” Jack says as she pulls on her medical gloves, rolling the surgery cart up next to the bed Ryan is lying you carefully across. “Put some gloves on, and for god sakes; get your hair out of the way”, she doesn’t look at him to see the agony his face is contorting with, instead moving to face your torn and tattered leg. Doing as he’s told, the Vagabond runs to the sink and removes his face paint, sterilising himself before returning to Jack, of who is administering a drip and anaesthetic into the vein lacing across the top of your hand.
“Are you with me, Ryan?” she asks, finally looking up into his blue eyes, pleading him to remain in control. The Vagabond nods tightly, trying to hang on to his unfeeling personal. “take this” Jack hands him a pair of medical grade pliers, and his stomach lurches as he is instructed to begin the removal of the nails littering your flesh. With a deep breath he begins to work, tugging on the metal and feeling your skin cling to it in resistance before it comes free, only to be dropped into the collection dish to his left.
Hours pass like this, his head pounds with every dislodging, teeth grinding as he feels your body tense beneath his fingers. Still, Jack works diligently beside him, her dedication and expertise obvious with each action. Every now and again her eyes flash to one of her oldest friends, biting her lips and letting her words fall into your lap; “you didn’t know”. She is soft and gentle, and yet her words burn against Ryan’s chest, constricting against him momentarily. With a shaky breath, he retracts his hands; looking sorrowfully down at your face, letting his fingers stroke your hair; “but I didn’t check”.

Love you, too.
Summary: Reader continually says "Love you, too," out loud and to herself and falls in love with Ray on this magnificent journey
“Here you go, asshole,” he grinned as he gave you the coffee you had jokingly demanded the last time you’d spoken to Ray Narvaez, Jr. “Love you, too, bitch,” you teased, taking the coffee from him carefully and sipping from it.
“Are you shitting me?!” Ray yelled as he was once again killed during a SponsorPlay of a brand new game, by none other than you, someone who didn’t actually work in the gaming office, but rather just enjoyed gaming in your free time, like most of the RT staff. “I fucking hate you, [Y/n],” he said with a smirk. “Love you, too, Ray,” you replied sarcastically before being killed yourself and continuing on in the game.
You’d forgotten to grab your lunch. Idiot, you thought to yourself as you stood in the kitchen, rummaging for something free-range, like a NatureBox pack. Your efforts were futile, though, so you just sat at a table and thought about your options. “Do you not have a lunch?” you hear Ray’s voice behind you. You turn and see him with a brown paper sack, which you assume is filled with his lunch. “No… I, uh… I forgot to grab it today,” you admitted, your face turning red, and a lump rising in your throat. You wished you hadn’t been so stupid this morning… you were really hungry and you really didn’t have the time to go buy something. “Here, take half my sandwich. I’ve got some chips and stuff in here, too. You can share my lunch.” “Oh, Ray, honestly, I couldn’t…” “Shut up. Take it.” You smiled at him as you took the triangle-shaped half of the sandwich. As you bit into it, you thought, Love you too, Ray.
You worked quietly at your desk as you animated a part of the trailer for a new season of X-Ray and Vav. Suddenly, Team Lads Action News Team burst into your office, holding their camera and their mic, screaming their team name! “[Y/n], what news have you?!” Michael yelled before shoving the microphone towards your face. “Working on a trailer for the newest season of X-Ray and Vav, actually,” you smiled, showing them the unfinished sketch of Ray’s animated head. “Woo!” Gavin screeched, “That’s exciting! Where’s my head?” “It hasn’t been animated yet, hon,” you reply. “Awww… damn,” Gavin pouted and screamed that there was more news to be had. Before Ray left, he tossed you a bag of NatureBox Cinnamon Swirl Kettle Kernels. “Swiped you some of these from the kitchen. Saw your tweet about needing a snack but being too busy to get up. Thought I’d bring you something while we news’d it up,” he flashed a smile before exiting the room. “Love you, too, Ray,” you whisper to yourself.
Of course this would be the day that you left your jacket at your apartment. It felt like it was fifty degrees in your office, and you shivered in an unsuccessful attempt to warm yourself up. You decided you had time to go make a cup of hot coffee so you went to the kitchen. Ray was there, grabbing a Red Bull out of the fridge. He noticed the goosebumps on your arms and said, “Are you cold?” “Yeah, my office is freezing, but I left my jacket this morning because I was late and so I was in a rush and…” He pulled off his purple Twitch sweatshirt and tossed it to you. “Here, our office is pretty warm anyways.” “Are you sure?” you asked. This was his favorite hoodie, after all. He nodded before heading back into the Achievement Hunter office with his drink in hand. “Love you, too, Ray,” you muttered as you finished making your coffee.
You’d thought things had been going well for a few weeks, but then your car engine wouldn’t turn. It was already dark out, and there was no way a mechanic would take a look at it this late in the day. “Shiiiiit…” you groaned, stepping out of your car and walking back toward the office. Ray met you before you got inside. “Hey, I thought you were heading home?” “My car won’t start,” you frowned. “Oh, well, Ryan’s taking me home. You don’t live too far from me, right? I’m sure he’d be glad to take you to your apartment as well. Lemme ask him.” He did and Ryan was more than happy to drop you off at your apartment building after dropping off Ray (even promising to pick you up in the morning as well!) Ryan pulled up to Ray’s apartment, where the Hispanic man hopped out of the car and said goodbye. “Be safe!” he commanded. “Love you, too, Ray,” you sighed, to your horror. You immediately covered your mouth and looked to Ryan, who simply chuckled, shrugged, and drove you to your place.
The next day, when you and Ray and Ryan returned to the office, Geoff was standing next to your car. “Ray told me that you’d had car issues last night. I came over a little early and tried to see if I could fix the problem. It was an easy fix,” Geoff grinned before ruffling your hair. As everyone walked inside, you looked at Ray (making sure to be silent this time), and thought, Love you, too, Ray.
Several days later, Ray sat on the floor of your office eating some various NatureBox goodies as you asked him various questions about what he thought was best for X-Ray in terms of weaponry for the show. Your phone rang, and it was a number you didn’t recognize, but it seemed to be something local, so you answered it. “Hello?” “Is this [Y/f/n]?” “Yes, who is this?” “This is Officer Robbins with the Austin Police Department. I’m calling to inform you that there has been a serious break-in at your apartment building and your apartment was unfortunately ransacked. Apparently, your entire floor was robbed. Your door was knocked down, and there are several different things broken. We would like to check everything for fingerprints before you coming down and letting us know what is missing. Is that alright?” “Y-yes, sir,” your voice broke and there were tears in your eyes. Ray looked up at you confused. The officer wished you a good day and you hung up the phone, letting the tears roll down your cheeks. “What’s wrong?” Ray was immediately up, his hand on your shoulder. “My apartment was broken into today. I…” your voice cracked as sobs began to form at the thought of an uninvited and possibly (very likely) dangerous stranger in your home. “Oh, my God. Is everything okay? Do you need to go?” Ray asked “They said that they wanna check the place for fingerprints before I tell them what’s missing. But I… I don’t wanna go back there. I’m not going to feel safe there tonight if I go back.” “Why don’t… you come over to my place?” he suggested. “What?” “You can just spend the night at my place tonight or whatever, and tomorrow you and I can go to your apartment and see the damage and go report it. I’ve got a really comfy couch, I swear. It pulls out into a bed.” You nodded and gulped, trying to calm yourself down, but it seemed like the tears just wouldn’t go away. He took your hands in his and pulled you up, bringing you into a hug. “It’s alright, [Y/n]. It’s all gonna be okay. You can stay at my place as long as you need to.” He stroked the top of your head lightly as your cried into his shirt. Thankfully, he wasn’t able to make out when you sobbed, “I love you, too, Ray.”
That night you went back to his apartment. “You need anything to eat or drink?” he asked as he moved about the kitchen. “No, thank you,” you sat on the couch, which was actually very comfortable. “You sure? I’ve got juice boxes!” he coaxed with a joking tone. “I’m sure. Sorry that I’m bumming off you. I’ll pay you back for any inconvenience I cause.” “First of all, shut the fuck up. Second, I invited you here. That makes it like… a slumber party or some shit like that. Third, I got a free ride home. That’s basically payment. So quit your bitching and choose a game that I can kick your ass at.” Love you, too, Ray, you thought as you picked up a controller.
The next morning, you went to your apartment. Police tape covered the door, and a cop was outside waiting on you, since you had called them informing them you’d like to meet them that morning. Ray stood by your side, ready to help you face whatever was across the threshold of the broken doorframe. You walked in and noticed many of your picture frames carelessly tossed about, some broken and shattered on the floor. You took account of everything that was missing and told the officer. Then you gathered a bunch of your clothes, put them into a duffel bag, and began placing the valuables that hadn’t been taken into it as well. When you were finally done, Ray carefully took the bag. “I’ll carry it. You just relax.” You two made your way down to the car quietly, and all you could think was, Love you, too, Ray.
A few days later, it was storming really badly. Something about storms just made you feel anxious and uncomfortable. You slipped from your couch-bed into Ray’s room, initially to ask him if he had anything to help calm you down. “Ray?” You whispered, half hoping that he didn’t wake up. “Hmm…? Oh, [Y/n], you okay?” he asked groggily before grabbing his glasses to see you. “Uh… just, the thunder… I just… uh…” your nerves were getting the better of you. “Here, c’mere and lay down next to me for a little while. It’s okay, no big deal.”He lifted the covers, inviting you to join him in his tank top and pajama pants. You were hesitant at first but the next thunder crash made you shoot under the covers. You curled up next to him silently, thinking, I love you, too, Ray.
A week or so after that, you sat on the couch reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline while Ray streamed some game on Twitch. Every once in a while, you would look up from the book when he would yell a string of expletives or cheer with celebration. “What’s that?” he said to the chat. There was a pause before he got an answer, probably due to the delay. “Is there someone else in my apartment? Yeah, [Y/n] is here. If I turn my chair just the right way…” he spun his chair to the right and revealed you to the camera, “Do you wanna say something to the chat?” “Hey, chat, thanks for hanging out with Ray, even though he’s a loser. It really boosts his ego.” “Shut the fuck up. What are you reading, nerd?” “A book, Ray. Geez, I think you might need new prescriptions if your sight is that bad.” “What book, you jerk,” he smiled. “Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Great read. I recommend it to anyone who loves reading and videogames.” “Aw, man,” he said, “too bad I can’t fuckin’ read.” Then he returned to the stream. A few minutes of seemingly regular gameplay passed until you heard, “Yo, mods, you absolutely have permission to time-out and/or ban anyone who says shit about me and [Y/n]. What happens between me and my friends and in our personal lives is our business, and the fact that she’s on my couch right now is absolutely none of your fucking concern, so drop it. And if I see people bugging her about it on twitter or tumblr or any of that shit, I will fuck you up.” He turned around and faced you, “You got that? You let me know if they bother you about shit.” “You could just tell them what happened to me. If it’ll shut them up, I really don’t mind,” you admit. “Fine,” he turned back to his chat, “Someone fucking broke into her apartment, so now she doesn’t feel safe there. But regardless of where she is staying and who she is with, it’s none of your business, so leave her the fuck alone.” And you noiselessly mouthed “Love you, too, Ray,” as you continued to read your book.
A few nights later, you had been watching a movie with Ray, but fell asleep sometime during the film. You woke up with your head slumped on the point midway between his shoulder and chest. “Hey, the movie is over. Do you wanna head on to bed?” “Mmm, yeah, sorry, I just… I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you,” you apologize. “Not a problem,” he pauses and doesn’t make a move to get up, “Hey, can I ask you something?” “Mhhm,” you answer, still feeling sleepy. “Are you comfortable?” “What do you mean?” “Like, is the couch comfy right now?” “Honestly, you’re more comfortable than the couch is, Ray.” “Do you want to sleep in the bed?” You woke up a little, “What?” “You heard me.” “I don’t want you to have to sleep out here.” “I won’t.” “What?” “It’ll be just like the stormy night, right? I mean, didn’t you feel better sleeping like that?” You nodded. “I got better sleep than I have in a long time that night. I’d like to get good sleep again.” You smiled, “Okay,” and began to move to get off the couch, but before you could do so, he picked you up. All those hours that he had made you carry him to the gym had really paid off. He carried you bridal style into the bedroom and laid you on the bed and you quickly got under the covers and began drifting into sleep. He lied down beside you and even put an arm around you as you quietly began to fall asleep. You didn’t think he heard you as you mumbled, “Love you, too, Ray,” and fell into the abyss of dreams as his grip tightened on you. The next morning you woke up with his face directly in front of yours. You wanted with all your heart to press your lips to some part of it, but decided against it. You snuggled into his neck, and you heard a chuckle come from his throat. “Good morning,” he said. “Mmmmm,” you grumbled into his skin He pulled your face away from his neck so that he could see it. He smiled before reaching for his glasses and putting them on (so he could actually see your face). He brushed his fingers across your cheek and said, “I love you.” Your eyes went wide. Your mouth opened from shock. How many times had you responded to this, and yet at this moment, you could only respond with, “Wh-what?” “I love you, [Y/n].” And every moment of his love flashed back to you, from getting you coffee to giving you his jacket to offering you a ride and letting you stay at his place. And you were able to say it, this time, for real. “I love you, too, Ray.”

What a Coincidence
Who: Ray Narvaez Jr./Reader
Word Count: 1,439
Rating: PG
Authors Notes: Ah, my first Rooster Teeth fanfiction. Sorry if this moved to quickly! The idea was an established relationship, but I have to admit I have never written one before. I hope it was not terrible, also I hope the ending didn't upset you too much! I'm not big on happy endings. Thanks for reading, feedback is appreciated, and, as always, more to come.
The bustling city wasn't your first choice. In fact, Ray and yourself had fought over locations for months before he finally won you over (you were mostly tired of all the fighting and didn't want to breakup over something small like this). You both moved into a small apartment, barely able to get by with both of your college tuition costs and minimum wage jobs. Honestly, you weren't interested in the major you had pursued. It was mostly to get your mother off of your back. Instead of concentrating on your studies, you poured your energy into the now 9th most subscribed YouTube channel. Back then you had uploaded let's plays for a small group of around 100 people.
There was no money to buy a nice face camera back then. You had to make due with just a sturdy microphone and the hope that a faceless voice would draw people in. The theory was people like mystery. This was proven by the sudden influx of viewers, turning you into a sensation within months. YouTube gave you a partnership deal with a hefty pay. You were making hundreds of dollars in ad revenue each day. Everything was great.
Except the major part of your life: the relationship you had with Ray. You had known him since you were six years of age, he was your very first school friend. A relationship formed quite quickly. He appreciated your video game skills and the energy you emitted, while you admired his always climbing gamerscore and ability to make you laugh all the time. It was obvious you were perfect for each other.
So when he asked you out 3 months from graduating high school, you said yes without hesitation. It seemed like a no-brainer. You both moved to NYC to start a new life as a couple. But after the move happened, he changed. There were a lot of factors to his withdrawal: the major debts you both had, education, trying to find a job... the list could go on. Fighting was much more common. Most of the bickering was just tired banter, but there were a few major blowouts. Occasionally this led to a few shots of hard liquor at the bars around town. You weren't proud of the coping mechanism, but it took away the feelings.
After a while of living in New York together you noticed Ray was getting happier again. You had a few theories as to why this was. With the sudden YouTube fame you had acquired there was enough money to pay the bills and a little to splurge with as well. Life was getting immensely easier for the both of you. However, that was not the case. The sudden mood change came around the time of your birthday, and he had already announced that there was a big surprise coming for you on that day. You were quite intrigued to see what he had in mind, and when the event finally came around he invited you to a fancy dinner.
Ray was adorned in a well-fitting tuxedo while you complimented his side wearing an elegant dove coloured cocktail dress. You had ordered your favourite dish while Ray ordered his, along with waters for the both of you. He refused to tell you what the surprise was until after your meal, so you tried to eat quickly without looking too barbarous (although you still looked like an uncultured slob stuffing the food down your throat with minimal chewing).
Finally, after what seemed lie forever, your plate was finished. You sat quietly until he finished his meal. Ray took in a deep breath and asked in a hushed voice, "Are you ready?"
"I've been ready." Your voice was breathy, a result of your heart pounding like thunder.
"(Y/N)," Ray pulled an envelope out of seemingly nowhere (your boyfriend is probably a magician- just saying). He started to get down on one knee. To say you were excited would be an understatement. "I got a job at Rooster Teeth, but I can't do it without you. You have been there with me through everything, and I am in love with you. Would you make me the happiest man alive and accompany me to Texas as my bride?"
A ring was in his hand, along with two plane tickets. Most of the people in the restaurant were staring at you, waiting for you to say yes. But you couldn't do that. You loved Ray, you knew you wanted to marry him. The both of you had talked about it before. However, you couldn't move to Texas. New York City was your home. Texas was too far away from family, and it was impractical. You needed to finish your degree. A move was also too costly.
"I..." the tears were welling up. "Ray, I can't. I can't leave New York City. I'm sorry."
That was all it took. The crowd was aghast, and Ray... he looked heartbroken. You fished in your purse for some money and left quickly. There was no way that those people would see you cry.
Instead of going back to the apartment, you checked into a hotel. You couldn't face Ray at that point. So you just turned your phone off and fell into a dreamless sleep.
When you had woken up, sunlight was barely peaking through the cloud covering. You turned on your phone to see a plethora of texts from Ray, all wanting to know if you were okay. Feeling bad for making him worried, you had called him, only to receive his voicemail, to which you left a message explaining where you were and why you couldn't leave. After a short while he texted you back, with a, 'Glad you are okay, call me.'
It took you a little while to muster up the courage to finally call him, but when you did he sounded more relieved than angry. You chatted for hours about things that had happened last night and when his flight was going to leave, things like that. But you skimmed around the topic that both of you knew was looming heavy in the air. Both of you knew it had to be addressed.
"So..." the conversation had come to a lull, so you decided to bring the big question up. "What's going to happen to... us? Our future as a couple."
"I don't know." You could tell he was scratching the back of his neck. "Are we over?"
The hardest question had come out. "I think we might be." A silence replaced your voice. Neither of you dared to break it, for just one breath could send it shattering.
"Yeah." Was all Ray said.
"I still love you."
"I love you too."
"Stay safe on your flight tomorrow, Ray."
"You stay safe, too, (Y/N)."
Then the line went dead as you both hung up. There was no further contact, and it had been years since that conversation took place.
Now you were here, at RTX, seeking out the guy you had planned your life out with. The guy you were supposed to marry. You didn't know what exactly you were expecting to get out of this. An ignition to the old spark you once had? Not likely. Closure to the relationship? Negative. It seemed that this would only bring you down.
You watched quietly as the panel you were attending started, Ray was in it, along with the rest of the AH crew. Many questions were asked, but you didn't dare say any of your own. Too soon the panel ended, and you found yourself in a line for autographs from all of the crew. It took a few hours (or, at least, it seemed like it did) for you to finally get up to the boys, but you were mostly just seeking one. You held out a photo for the Puerto Rican to sign.
"Who do I make this out to?" He flashed a bright smile in your direction. God, he looked so happy.
"(Y/N)." Your voice was barely audible above the crowd.
"That's funny, you look kind of like a girl I knew for a while. Same name too. What a coincidence" Ray handed the photo back to you.
"Yeah. What a coincidence."
You left without saying another word.

Marry Her Anyway
Tumblr media
Pairing: Ray x Reader
Notes: Fancy restaurant, sorry I haven't posted in a while by the way.
If you like this please like this post, means a lot :)
“You ready?” Ray said as he knocked on the door - you looked up briefly from where you were sat at your dressing table and saw he was not looking through the crack in the door. You could see him in his suit.
You were getting ready to go on a big date with Ray - he’d booked a really fancy restaurant in advance and you both decided to get dressed to the nines. You were wearing a red dress that hung near your ankles and you had put extra effort into your hair and makeup to look perfect for Ray. You finished up putting on your mascara and called him in.
Turning on your chair, you then stood up and looked at Ray - really looked at him - and you we’re blown away. Your eyes traced from his well-polished shoes, up his legs to his tight shirt and skinny tie. When you finally got up to his face, his look was what you imagined you looked like right now - awestruck.
  “You look…”
“You too.” You let off a small laugh and started walking towards your shared wardrobes to pick out your heels.
“Ready for a fun night?” He asked as he sat on the end of the bed, putting down his suit jacket that was draped over his arm.
“Yeah, I can’t believe how much we’re going to have to pay for the bill though, that place is expensive!” You shook your head but smiled - you weren’t really up for it but Ray had talked you into it.
“We deserve a treat.” Ray walked out of the bedroom and called after you.
  “We do.”
  _________________
Stepping through the door to the fancy restaurant you saw ahead of you one of the most luxurious rooms you’d ever seen in your entire life. A huge crystal chandelier hung above your head from the high ceiling. The tables were placed in perfect rows - each covered in deep purple tablecloths and shiny cutlery and glittering candles.
Quite a few of the table were full. Most of the customers were older couples, probably too rich to care about the price. The Maitre D led you and Ray to one of the table towards the table you had booked - you were practically speechless as you followed along, clutching Ray’s hand.
The man reeled off a bunch of menu information you couldn’t take in, gave you the actual menus and then was gone before you realised.
“Did you get any of that?” You asked Ray with a small smile.
  “Fuck no.”
You kicked him softly under the table and he laughed at you before pulling a face and shrugging.
“What do you like the look of?” You asked. Scanning the menu with your eyes. A waiter approached the table, leaving a bucket of ice with a champagne bottle sticking out of it.
“On the house.” He whispered with a smile before scuttling away.
“You think we should open it?” Ray asked as he pulled the bottle out slightly.
“Why not right?” He began to slip it out of the ice and wiped it on the towel that was looped through the handle of the bucket.
  _________________
After you’d finished your main meal, the waiter approached you again and took your desert orders.
“Had a good night?” Ray asked, taking your hand in his. The night wasn’t over but he kept checking you were having fun.
“Yeah, amazing.” You squeezed his hand slightly - having Ray’s company was the best, it wasn’t about the fancy restaurant - it was about him.
“So.”  Ray stood up and walked round the table. You looked at him quizzically, then he got down on one knee, and your jaw dropped.
“(Y/N), this is the point where I pull out a big shiny ring and tell you how much you mean to me, but we both know I’m not good at words, and well, the ring I ordered didn’t make it on time and I couldn’t wait any longer so…”
You started laughing slightly, and took Ray’s hands in yours.
“Don’t laugh okay, I kinda left it last minute but it had to be tonight, so, (Y/N), will you marry me?”

Why not X-ray? pt. 2
Title: Why not X-ray? Pairing: Ray Narvaez Jr. X Reader This is a continuation from pt. 1 which can be read here (x). I felt like I didn't properly fulfil the prompt, so I took it further. I don't plan on making another part, but will probably be up for doing more one shots of reader x ray :)  ------------
"Okay, one more," you said, your speech slower than usual because you were getting quite buzzed. And you drew another card from the pile.
At some point during the night, in order to get everyone to finish up their drinks, someone started a game of King's Cup. But then everyone ordered more drinks in order to play. At the end of it all, you could still stand, but the world not stop spinning so walking was another matter.
"Whoever suggested that can go suck a dick," you proclaimed outside the bar as everyone was saying goodbye. You got a few high fives for that, which threw you off balance. You felt someone wrap their arms around you to steady you, allowing you to lean on them so that the world came to a momentary standstill. You look up behind you to see Ray's face, and you muttered "Thanks", feeling a blush as you remembered what he had told you inside the pub. He settled you on your feet again, but slung his arm lazily across the back of your shoulders. You knew he did this so to make sure you wouldn't fall.
"Everyone gonna get home fine?" asked Geoff as he took hold of Gavin since he noticed the lad wandering off. Getting some sort of consensus of yesses that he was satisfied with, he took Gavin away.
"You guys want a ride?" asked Lindsay. You all lived in the same apartment complex, so she said it would be no trouble. Ray sat with you in the back seat, but before you knew it, you had drifted off during the car ride. You woke up with your head nestled against Ray's side. And Michael's yelling for everyone to get the fuck out of the car cause he wanted to sleep.
You thanked Lizzy for the ride, feeling your head pound from the alcohol. Ray walked you up to your flat and said good night, but you called him back.
  "Yeah?" he asked.
"About what you said," you began hesitantly. You were not sure where to start-- nor were you sure you were in your best state to be talking bout this. You could see Ray's eyes dropping in disappointment, and you hurried to continue. "Do you mean it?"
"X-ray never lies," he said. "Unless if it's for personal gains. Or to beat Ryan in a game. Okay, so yeah, X-ray sometimes lies, but not when it comes to you."
You smiled at him fumbling at his words, and you were glad liquor gave you some added confidence. No way would you be able to do this if you were not a little tipsy.
"Okay, so you know how you thought I like Gavin?" you asked.
"Yeah," he said cautiously. "I have no idea where this is going."
"Well, I actually do have some sort of a thing for an Achievement Hunter. Ever since I walked into the office to be honest." You were getting nervous because you could not believe this was happening. He was starting to smile, and you knew he started to get a sense of what you were saying.
"Really?"
"Yeah, he's really awesome at games. And he's got the coolest t-shirts, so I have to visit their office every day just to catch a glimpse.  And he doesn't give a shit about what people think or say, which I know I will never be able to do--"
Before you could finish your speech, Ray just walked towards you to close the distance between you two and gently tips your chin upward. His lips touches yours, and he gives you a light, feathery kiss. Then he backed away and smiled at how you were now speechless.
"Goodnight, Sailor Moon."
