Pack
Don’t ask how this came to be. I started and the words flowed out.
(For setting: let’s say Regis found a way to break the prophecy when Noctis was 12. Thanks to some planning, he managed to bring Lunafreya to Lucis soon after.  Ravus, who faught and lost his arm assisting Regis get his sister out of imperial hands, vanished after the battle.  Noctis was still injured as a result of being the chosen king. Regis and everyone else became overprotective of him, so he didn't meet Prompto until senior year of high school, which caused Prompto to revert back to being quiet and shy. and by then, Noctis wanted nothing to do with his dad or the rest of the citadel.)
enjoy!
---
Ravus is like a Coeurl.
And a Coeurl is a hunter, an alpha one might say.
A Coeurl defends its territory with life and limb, at it’s strongest and at it’s weakest, its last breath one of defiance and strength.
It’s pack and territory are important. And it gains strength in order to protect them.
Ravus is a Coeurl with a broken pack and stolen territory.
A Coeurl with a broken pack and stolen territory will step back and adjust to their lost swiftly before stepping forward once more.
A Coeurl does not show weakness.
Even in its injured state.
Even in the face of death.
Even when it must harm their broken pack and territory to further protect them. But most people forget that, despite all of this, Coeurls were still felines. It’s distance did not translate to chosen isolation.
It’s growls and bearing of teeth did not always belay anger and warning. The spark of destructive magic through their whiskers does not always mean death to unknowns.
A Coeurl communicates in such actions for their pack’s safety.
It is content if the pack, though distant, is fine.
But when the pack takes their ways of communicating as a threat and demand for isolation and silence, a Coeurl may become confused.
Perhaps hurt.
But a Coeurl, who is confused and hurt will never stop protecting pack and territory.
Ravus is like a Coeurl. ... ...Ravus has been very lonely. —- Noctis is like a kitten.
Not a grown cat, but a young kitten.
A kitten enjoys sleeping beneath the sun’s gentle and warm rays.
A kitten is pleased to hunt for its fish and to play with it’s fledgling pack.
To find comfort in their parents.
But a kitten can easily become hurt when away from safety.
Noctis is like a hurt kitten.
Weary of the world but accepting of it as well.
A weakness, that was not their choice, now settling upon their fragile form.
But despite being hurt, a kitten will always seek out its fledgling pack for comfort and strength.
But when a fledgling pack becomes distant, the kitten may become confused and scared.
Noctis is like  a confused and scared kitten.
A kitten that needs its parent and fledgling pack yet is forced at a distance.
A kitten who no longer finds comfort in the sun’s rays and the comfort of their pack’s territory.
A kitten despite it’s youth, can acknowledge that it craves such comfort and will seek it out.
But when they are burnt many times, they accept isolation.
They become lonely and bitter.
Noctis is like a kitten who is lonely and bitter.
A kitten who tries to stand on its own when even they know they are not ready.
That tries to do its part in the pack but it gently forced to the side, deemed too young still.
A kitten will try to behave, but will step further away from the kitten it once was.
Noctis is a very lonely kitten.
---
Prompto is like a puppy.
Easily emotional in some ways but emotionally aware in many others.
A puppy is young and energetic and adores to be surrounded by its pack.
But when the pack does not wish to stay with the puppy.
The puppy becomes confused and lonely.
Prompto is like a confused and lonely puppy.
A puppy that is confused and lonely will try to behave so it’s pack can come back.
A puppy whose pack does not come back turns the puppy into a heartbroken and hurt puppy.
Prompto is like a heartbroken and hurt puppy. A heartbroken and hurt puppy will adjust terribly to isolation.
They become quiet and, in a way, scared.
They wish for a pack but can not seek one for fear of renewed isolation. They try to be good.
A puppy always tries to be good.
Prompto is a very lonely puppy.
— When the kitten and puppy meet, they are unaccustomed to the lack of distance.
To look over their shoulder and spot the other closely behind.
It takes longer than they wished to slowly grow used to such closeness.
The kitten and puppy are silent in their tears of relief as they submerge themselves within the warmth of pack provided by the other.
The kitten and the puppy are different in their ways. Many things strange to one that the other finds normal.
It is strange and new and different.
But so very, very warm.
— It was only by chance, a literal droplet in the sea of possibilities and circumstances, that the puppy and kitten found the Coeurl.
The Coeurl, unused to the closeness of pack, lashed out at them fiercely, the isolation crazed predator unsure of what a pack was anymore.
Had the kitten found the Coeurl on its own, their near similar yet distinctively different ways would had caused them to part in anger and hurt.
Had the puppy found the Coeurl on its own, the Coeurl’s way to communicate would have caused the puppy to feel unwanted and scared.
But they found the Coeurl together.
The kitten quietly properly communicating the Coeurl’s words to the puppy.
While the puppy gently soothed the Kitten’s many unintended faux pas.
The Coeurl, had the puppy and kitten not found them together, would have simply lashed out and left. Returning to their shattered home and pack.
Yet the kitten gave the Coeurl the distance it need. And the puppy gave the Coeurl the closeness it desperately craved.
Soon, the distance closed.
And soon, the Coeurl was gently submerged in the warmth that only a pack could provide.
The kitten and puppy were silent as the Coeurl took in their warmth.
Noctis was like a kitten.
Prompto was like a puppy.
Ravus was like a Coeurl.
They were similar to each of them that it was simple to associate them with those creatures.
Noctis adored napping in the sun’s gentle rays, Ravus always complained to a laughing Prompto when the young prince latched on to him during those times. Ravus complained further when Prompto would join in.
(Yet no matter how much he complained, he always drifted off alongside them, every time.)
Noctis likes to hunt for his fish. To sit by the water and listen to the gentle noise around him.
Prompto enjoying taking photos of each catch.
Ravus is quiet but content as Noctis explains facts of each catch.
Noctis loves to be near his pack, to feel their presence even at a distance. —- When Ravus and Noctis needed to rest, Prompto offered them his empty home.
Any pack he had before was a distant memory.
His home hollow and cold.
Photos of barely remembered parents and images they placed up there.
Photo albums barely showing him, always empty.
Ravus and Noctis were very territorial.
They circle the territory Prompto provides them. Eye everything that enters their sight.
They do not like it, and so they tell him that and leave.
Prompto is heartbroken for all but a moment before he is called after by Ravus and Noctis, gently tugged along.
The three return to the cold home hours later with many warm and colorful things.
(Prompto sleeps surrounded by his pack that very night. )
—-
Prompto adores being close to his pack, to play and simply continue life by their side.
He adores watching Noctis and Ravus carry on with each day. To capture the moments that only he was gifted to see through the lens of his camera.
He loved all of his photos, but he had favorites as well.
He captures the moment Noctis beats Ravus in chess.
The smugness on the Lucian’s face and the annoyed expression on The Tenebraen’s.
(He can see the playfulness in their eyes, the small almost unnoticeable smile on Ravus’ lips, the laughter in each of their voices. )
He captures the different ways Ravus puts up his hair.
Noctis was fond of the way his hair swished as it grew longer.
Ravus always said he would cut it.
(He never did. )
How Ravus would have an soft smile on his face as he cared for the plants he brought from his kingdom.
The way his eyes grew gentle as he explained to Prompto facts about each flower. Prompto opened his cold house to Ravus and Noctis when they needed to rest.
Prompto was left with a home that was full of warmth and pictures that he looked at with love and fondness.
(Prompto’s heart was always on the verge of bursting when he ran out of photo albums and picture frames. A smile on his face when he needed to buy more.) — Ravus does not know when he grew close to the two.
It has been very long since he was close to anyone.
He remembered, vaguely, of times when he was close to his pack and home.
But when he attempted to reach those memories, he felt hollow.
Ravus was very much (not) truthful of his feelings.
He was irritated when Noctis would not let go of him during his naps, especially when Prompto decided to play along. (Because he would eventually drift off to sleep surrounded by their warmth.)
He was frustrated when Prompto or Noctis asked him facts about the plants he kept. (Because while he was fond of those plants, he knew he could show them better plants, more beautiful flowers because while these were fine, they both deserve to be amazed by ones more worthy of being presented to pack-)
He couldn’t help but sigh in exasperation when he saw more photos on the walls in Prompto’s home. (Especially the ones of Prompto’s parents. because how dare they hurt his pack member, have they no shame-)
He honestly considered cutting his hair but would forget every time. (Not because his pack would be sad,and he enjoys when they play with it, no, of course not-)
Ravus does not know why he grew close to them. (Why he and Noctis had enough of Prompto’s sadness when his parents called and came together and ‘convinced’ Prompto’s parents to never bother the young soul again because how DARE they hurt-)
But he supposed it wasn’t all too bad. (It was wonderful)
It was pleasant enough that he could stick around for a moment longer. (For as long as they wish for him to stay.)
—-
A Coeurl, a kitten, and a puppy became a pack of three when their former packs turned them away.
Eventually those packs would realize what they did and try to reach out to them, hoping for forgiveness.
(But the small pack of three would not be burnt again.)
Their pack was not big, nor prestigious.
Nor was it always perfect.
But they took the time to settle gently into the life their pack provided.
Their territory consisted of a decent sized home with photos and plants and occasional fishing tool covering every available space.
With blankets draped along every large piece of furniture that was directly warmed by sunlight.
Smells of cuisines from their walks of life always drifting from the kitchen.
Every step taken into the house was filled with a sense of home and comfort and warmth.
A Coeurl, a kitten, and a puppy became a pack of three when their former packs turned them away.
(And they can genuinely say they were very happy)

⋞⁘♔⁘⋟   By the time Ravus had made it down to the kitchens, he could hear one or two of the staff whispering about Lysander being there. He passed them as he stepped in, glancing around until his eyes landed on the other man.
He was about to utter some comment about the state of things, even if in jest, when the words caught his ears and he blinked, taken aback. Wait. He was preparing all of this... for him?
There was even a cheesecake sitting on the counter, topped with strawberries.
Ravus was not certain he even felt deserving of this!

He snorted a soft laugh as he watched Lysander drink from the bottle of wine and stepped closer to him. “Yes. Thank you,” he said with a smile, then stole the bottle off of him, taking a drink from it before laying a kiss on his cheek. “You are so excessive, but I do adore it...”

One With Nature
Tumblr media
Summary:  Gladio takes Ravus out of the city to enjoy a bit of the wilderness he loves so much. However, getting the man to see what he loves about it may be a little more difficult then he anticipated.
A/n: This is another fun f3s prompt from my friend @bgn846! She gave me the prompt:
'Ninja kiss!! Promptio or Ravilus  “Will you get down from there?!”
I hope that you enjoy it my friend!
And you can also read on AO3 at: https://archiveofourown.org/works/25250872
Enjoy! :D
Word Count: 1957
------------------------------------------
There really was nothing like the great outdoors.  The smell of the wildflowers and the trees.  The feeling of shifting sunlight and shade as you walked along the trails.  What could be more peaceful?  Where could you find such serenity? “AAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!”
Sighing heavily Gladio dropped the hammer he had been using to drive the tent spikes into the ground.  “Everything alright, Ravus?” he asked, turning to find the man flailing.  He had one hand holding a can of bug spray and the other waving frantically around his head, trying to combat some unseen pest.
“NO!  These beasts won’t leave me alone!” he called out frantically, his hair a mess as he glanced around with wild eyes.
Gladio took a moment to look around, not seeing what beast he was talking about.  “Um… sweetheart?  I don’t know wh-..,”
“THERE IT IS!” Ravus cried as he shied away from his left and made a mad dash for Gladio, rushing to stand behind him and glaring at his previous location.
Narrowing his eyes, Gladio could just make out the soft flutter of wings and the delicate colors of a field butterfly.
Snorting a bit and trying to play it off as a cough, Gladio turned his head to the side to try and catch a glance of his boyfriend.  “I think you’re safe, love,” Gladio tried to reassure, watching as the butterfly began to lazily make its way to a patch of flowers nearby.
“LIES!  Everytime you turn your back it comes for me!” Ravus grumbled, his eyes still narrowed at the small insect.  “I don’t like flutterby’s,” he mumbled and oh that was the most precious thing Gladio had ever heard.
“What did you call it?” Gladio asked, chuckling softly as Ravus finally stopped his glaring to look at him.
“A flutterby?  Like everyone else?” he said again and Gladio could’ve cooed at the sweetness of it.
“Butterfly.”
“That’s what I said!”
“No you didn’t.  Say it again.”
“Flutterby!”
“See?!”
“I said it just like you!”
“Butterfly!”
“Flutterb-.... Oh…,”
When recognition lit up Ravus’s expression followed by that adorable blush, Gladio finally couldn’t help himself.  Laughing softly he turned around and wrapped his arms around the flustered man.  Ravus instantly hid himself against his chest and shook his head.
Pressing a soft kiss to the top of his head, Gladio smiled all the more and soothed a hand over his back.  “Would it help if I said that was adorable?” he murmured, earning a little groan from his darling.
“No.  Makes it worse,” Ravus grumbled, causing Gladio to chuckle a bit more before pressing one last kiss to his head.  Stepping back he looked down at the shorter man, still noticing the blush that stayed over his nose and cheeks.
“Well I’m afraid you’ll have to deal with it… because it really was adorable.  But I have to go and grab some kindling for our fire tonight so I trust I can leave you to fend our territory from the… flutterbies?” he teased, earning him a little swat to his chest and making him laugh as he shied away.
Ravus, regardless of the blush, was smiling and shook his head.  “I’ll do my best.  But I make no promises you won’t find me in the car when you get back,” he warned and honestly, Gladio wasn’t sure he was joking.
“I mean… if they really are giving you that much trouble you can always come with me?” he offered, glancing behind Ravus and noticing a few more butterflies slowly drifting their way.  “I think they’re attracted to your shampoo.”
Turning to follow Gladio’s line of sight, Ravus noticed the incoming monsters and gasped, quickly scurrying to once more stand behind Gladio.  “Well what would you have me do?!  Roll around in a mudpit like some sort of ruffian?!” he growled.
Gladio put on a contemplative expression, soon feeling a little pinch to his side making him squawk and jump to the side with a loud laugh.  “O-okay!  Okahay!  I was only joking,” he said lightly, turning to look at the man.  “So do you want to come with me?  At least then I can protect you.”
It seemed that the prospect of staying behind with the flutterby troubles was more than Ravus could stand and after a moment he nodded.  “I’ll come along.  But I swear if I don’t start to see the magic of camping soon we are sleeping in the car with the air conditioning and the lack of creepy crawlies.”
“Fair enough,” Gladio conceded.  He knew it had taken moving heaven and hell to get Ravus to leave the comfort of their apartment to try and experience the fun and relaxation of the outdoors and he refused to give in just yet to showing him how good it could be.  “Come on then.  While we still have the light working with us,” he said softly, grabbing his gear pack from his camp chair and standing at the edge of the haven, waiting for Ravus to follow.
The white haired man bit his lip nervously, still looking slightly uncertain, but one quick glance to the impending butterflies easily sent him moving forward to follow Gladio into the surrounding woods.
As soon as they entered the forest Gladio couldn’t help taking in a deep breath.  There was something so soothing about the smell of the trees and ferns that just made him feel relaxed in a way the everyday humdrum of the city couldn’t.  He loved what they had in Insomnia.  He loved their bookstore and what they had built together, but sometimes it was nice to recharge in a setting like this. “Oh!  Look at this, Gladio!” Ravus murmured from behind him.  Pausing, Gladio turned around to find Ravus stepping off the path and glancing up into a tree.  It really was impressive.  The base of the tree was wide enough that he and Ravus combined wouldn’t be able to wrap their arms around it.  Moss and ivy intertwined with some of the roots that were bent up out of the earth and the light that filtered in from the canopy sent dappled green hues over everything below.
Trying to find out what it was that had drawn Ravus’ attention, Gladio tried to follow his line of sight and instantly spotted what had caught his eye.
The tree was flowering in anticipation of the fruits it would bear.  The flowers were a soft white with fluffy yellow centers that seemed to sparkle almost ethereally.  They grew in bunches and the scent that came from them was absolutely intoxicating.
“It’s a Duscaen Orange tree,” Gladio explained as he came to stand beside his partner.  “The flowers are used to make perfumes around the Eos and have medicinal purposes, but the best part is the fruit.  You can thank this tree for your morning glass of orange juice.”
Ravus gave a little hum of acknowledgement and turned to Gladio.  “While I highly doubt this particular tree has helped in my daily dose of vitamin c… I definitely appreciate it a bit more,” he said with a soft smile, turning back and moving closer to touch the trunk of the tree.  “And… I suppose I can also appreciate your proclivity for nature.  It’s… rather beautiful at times.  When it’s not trying to nest in your hair.”
Gladio snorted at that and shook his head, setting down his backpack and moving closer to the tree as well.  “I’m glad you’re starting to see it,” he said lightly, looking up at the monster of a tree and getting a mischievous little smile.  “But to really appreciate nature… you gotta really embrace it.  Become one with it, ya know?”
This time it was Ravus’ turn to snort in amusement.  “Is that so?  And how exactly do you do th-... Gladio?” Ravus glanced next to him where the man had been standing and found nothing but foliage.  “Gladio?  Gladiolus?”  Blossoms slowly began to drift down from the canopy, landing in Ravus’s hair and making him look up.  What he saw instantly made his eyes widen with fear.
“Gladiolus Amicitia get your arse back down here this instant!  Are you crazy?!” he shouted, watching as his titan of a boyfriend acted as some sort of jacked squirrel, climbing his way up the branches and sending even more petals raining down upon him.
Gladio chuckled and looked down at his sweetheart.  “Why don’t you come up here and join me?  The view is amazing and you really feel like you’re one with nature,” he called back down and could practically feel the glare he was being given.  Really it only served to make him laugh more and he shook his head.  “Alright, alright.  I’ll be right down.  Give me a sec.”
Ravus huffed as he watched Gladio shimmy back across the branch before sitting down on it halfway and then… he tipped back.
As soon as he saw his partner falling backwards, Ravus instantly shouted and rushed forward arms out ready to catch his behemoth of a partner.
“Gladiolus!  Look ou-mmmh!”
In an instant his words were paused by soft lips meeting his own, the arms he had extended to attempt to catch the man frozen in midair.
Gladio couldn’t help smiling against Ravus’s lips, leaning back a little where he hung upside down and giving him a roguish little smile.  “Everything okay, Ravus?” he asked softly, looking at the slightly dazed expression on his partners face, the soft blush of his cheeks and the way his arms still stretched out ahead of him.
That all changed in an instant.
“What is wrong with you?!  Are you crazy?!  Are you part squirrel?!?  You’re worse than the flutt-… butt-… fluttubberblies!” Ravus began to chide, obviously worked up from Gladio’s little display of bravado if his attempt to say butterflies again.
“How on Eos could I be worse than a fluttubberbly?” Gladio chuckled, watching as Ravus scowled and swatted at his chest making him laugh a little more.
“Incorrigible!  Absolutely incorrigib-!,” once more his words were cut off as Gladio leaned forward, just so, to capture his lips.  The smile on his face almost matched the pout on his partners.  However, it wasn’t long before the kiss was being reciprocated and Gladio happily lost himself in the moment, the scent of the orange blossoms making the moment all the sweeter.
Slowly, the kiss came to its end and Ravus helped to lower his hulking partner from the tree and back onto the ground where he belonged.
“I still can’t believe you did that,” Ravus murmured, the two of them already starting back on the trail to find a few pieces of kindling for the fire.
Gladio smiled softly, reaching over and wrapping an arm around his shoulders, drawing in the silver-haired man who easily followed.  “I promise I wasn’t trying to scare you, though seeing you rush to save me was really sweet,” he teased softly, making Ravus grumble and elbow him lightly even as he smiled.
“What can I say?  I’m chivalrous like that,” he teased back making Gladio’s own smile grow.
“Chilvary doesn’t have you running behind your significant other to escape bugs,” he teased and Ravus sputtered in indignation.
“Have you seen them?!  Monsters, Gladio.  MONSTERS!”
As Ravus began to list off all the qualities that made the butterflies beasts of the sky, Gladio couldn’t help the way his heart fluttered and his smile grew.
While Ravus may never come to appreciate nature the way he did, he hoped that for years to come the scent of orange blossoms or a glass of his morning orange juice would bring a smile to his partners lips just as much as he knew it would for him.

I’m Sorry...
Tumblr media
*Click Click Click*
The heels to my boots moved quickly and precisely down the hall. I had one destination and I was not going to falter from it. When Ravus had returned from the Alter of the Hydrean, I had only caught a glimpse of him. But the glimpse I had caught terrified me. I quickened my pace and rounded the corner.
I was close to his quarters now. I happened to look down and I saw wet boot prints leading themselves out before me. My fears were confirmed. Reaching Ravus's quarters, I knocked on the door and waited for him to answer. The door cracked open and I saw a small glimpse of him.
He must have realized it was me, because before I knew it the door was flung wide open and I was yanked inside. Slamming the door shut behind me, Ravus paced to the other side of the room and picked a towel up off the back of his desk chair tossing it over his head. He was soaking wet just as I thought he had been.
"Ravus, you need to get out of that coat too or you're going to catch cold..." I started.
"I'm fine." his voice was icy as he replied, not even bothering to turn around to face me.
I recoiled in shock from how he spoke. He had never spoken to me like that. His voice was always gentle and kind when he spoke to me. He would always smile at me. This Ravus in front of me, the cold tone, the way he wouldn't look at me...I didn't know him.
"Ray, please..." I started, my voice pleading and soft.
"STOP IT!" he yelled as his body moved lightning fast across the room to press mine against the wall beside the door, the towel fluttering to the ground, his heterochromatic eyes burning into my own pale lavender.
His Magitek hand took hold of my right wrist tightly, drawing it up level with my head. I glanced over at it, noticing that his hand was tightening more and more finally becoming painful.
"Ray, please...you're hurting me..." I whimpered out finally.
His forehead dropped to my shoulder, slowly moving to press his face into my throat.
"Hurting you..." his voice was barely a whisper, his breath ghosting its way across my throat.
His hand loosened but drew my wrist down so my hand rested over where his heart was.
"Do you feel how I am hurting, Angel?" he asked.
A confused noise left my throat. I didn't understand his question. Did he mean that he was hurt? Or had something else happened?
"I-I don't understand Ray."
He pulled my hand back so that the other could undo the snaps to his coat. Slowly, a thin black singlet stretched over taught muscles was revealed. He pulled my wrist back his chest so once again, my hand was pressed over his heart.
"Now do you feel?" he questioned once more.
Ravus's heart was pounding a staccato rhythm under my hand. Hard and strong, fierce in its intensity.
"You hurt me whenever I hear your voice beg me for something. You hurt me when you won't listen to me when I tell you to stay safe. I lost Luna today..." his voice faded away as he confessed something that greatly pained him, then came back as he confessed something that had always been in his heart, "I don't want to lose you, Tenshi. I can't lose you. For I love you far too much to do so."
My breath caught in my throat, my own heart beating fast as well. Ravus Nox Fleuret...Ravus, High Commander of the Imperial Army...my Ray...loved me. Just an ordinary, everyday girl, that had come to Fenestala Manor when I had taken a fine blow to my head. I had wandered out into the sylleblossom fields though I had been told not to, and had become dizzy. Unable to walk back to the Manor I had gotten stuck out in the field.
To my surprise and wonder, a young man in white found me sitting out there. Even more to my surprise that it was the Oracles brother, Ravus. And that was where everything had started...and thus led us to right here.
"Ravus..." my voice was barely there, no more than a breath of air, and I felt a shiver run through Ravus's body, then warm wetness dripped its way down my chest.
"Oh Ray..." my voice came out stronger this time.
My free hand drifted up and entangled itself deep into his hair, locking him against me. I didn't want him to move, didn't want him to pull away. I just wanted the world around us to melt away and let us stay like this forever. But cruel reality came back to the both of us too easily as I felt his body begin to tremble beneath my fingers.
"Six Ray, your trembling. You need to get changed and warmed up." I whispered, pushing him back and looking up at him, "Please Ray, I don't want you to get sick."
Finally, the smile I was used to seeing from him spread across his face and he let me lead him across the room to his ensuite.
"Get in there and get dried off. Don't worry about your hair, I'll get to that. I'll bring you some clothes and leave them next to the door. When you come back out bring a towel and brush so I can deal with your hair." I shoved him in the room before he could say anything, "By the way, I'm stealing a shirt to wear since you decided to soak my uniform by pinning me to the wall."
I heard a soft, low chuckle as the door shut, knowing he would be fine with whatever I brought him and whatever I decided to steal out of his wardrobe. Walking over to the closet, I pulled it open and started rifling through it. I really hated all the things that the Imperial army had given him and wished he had been able to find things of his own. But it really didn't matter. I pushed through a bunch of of dress shirts and the like until I came upon a shirt that I actually recognized.
It was one that he had worn back in Tenebrae, before the Imperials came and the fires had consumed it. Pulling it out, I brought it down against my chest, gazing at it in wonder. How had he managed to save it? Burying my face in the fabric, I took in a deep breath, inhaling the sweet scent of sylleblossoms. It even still smelled of Tenebrae...
Reaching back into the closet I pulled down another hanger with a pair of sleep pants on it that I thought would be okay for Ravus to sleep in. Pulling open a drawer below, I reached in and randomly picked up a pair of undergarments as well. I doubted he would like me rifling through them for a specific set, though the look on his face if I told him I had would have been worth it and entirely priceless at the same time. Carrying the clothes back over to Ravus's ensuite, I placed his set of clothes on a chair just outside the door. I turned and walked to another door that led to a different room and slipped inside that so I could pull my clothes off and pull on the old shirt from Tenebrae.
Walking back out into the main room, I found Ravus dressed in the sleep pants I had pulled from his closet, trying to hang his coat up properly. He was making slightly frustrated noises as his coat refused to cooperate with him. A small giggle escaped me as I walked over to help him. Slipping up beside him, I added my hands to the mix of straightening out his coat and within a matter of minutes we had the cumbersome thing all fixed up. It would need to be cleaned and pressed later, but at least it wouldn't be as bad.
Ravus still had a towel around his neck, so I gently grabbed a hold of it and pulled him over to the bed and pushed him down onto it. Pulling the towel off his shoulders, I threw it over his head and started to dry out his hair as a mother would a young child.
"Gah, Tenshi! What are you? Stop, right now!" he insisted from under the towel, his voice slightly muffled.
I shook my head and rubbed the towel against his hair a little harder as I laughed.
"Sorry Ray, you were the one who went and got yourself soaked. Now I have to get your hair dried off. Just think of how cross I would be with you if you ended up sick." I teased him.
His hand reached up and yanked the towel out of my grasp, and he turned to glare at me over his shoulder. I blinked my eyes at him for a moment before bursting out in a fit of laughter.
"What are you laughing at?" he tried to sound angry, but I could tell it was fake.
"Y-you...pfft...you look like haha, like a wet, disgruntled chocobo, ahahaha! Pfthahaha, with all its, hahaha its feathers ruffled! Hahahahaha!" I started rolling side to side on the bed, tears pooling at the corners of my eyes from laughing so hard.
A scowl plastered itself onto Ravus's face. Reaching his hand up, he ran a hand through his hair...or at least he tried to. As soon as his hand met the silvery-white strands, he understood what I was laughing about. His hair was a tangled mess and was ruffled up in almost every direction.
"You fix this mess this instant, Tenshi!" He huffed at me, grabbing his brush off the bedside table and thrusting it into my hands.
"Pfft, hahaha! Okay, okay Ray. I'm sorry! You just look so cute with your hair puffed up like that!" I giggled, taking the brush.
"I am not cute!" he hissed, turning his back on me and sulking until I started to brush his hair out.
"Oh Ray. You would never understand..." I whispered as I smiled, slowly running the brush through his hair, "The day I first met you back in Tenebrae, I thought you were cute. As we got older, you were still cute. Though you did get more and more handsome by the day. Even now, you are still cute to me. Hell at times, you are adorable.
You will always be cute to me, Ray. Nothing you say or do will change that. No matter how much you deny it, no matter how much you hate it. You're my cute Ray-Ray. My Sun, the Light in my dark sky.
Nothing will ever change that. Nothing could ever change that. When you found me out in the sylleblossom fields back in Tenebrae, I had been stuck out there. I lied to you that I had just decided to stay out there. You saved me, and when you did, you simultaneously stole my heart in the process.
What I'm trying to say Ravus, is that I can't lose you either, for I love you as well."
A twitch ran through Ravus's body. He silently turned, pulling the brush from my hand an setting it on the night stand. Dragging me to lay down on the bed beside him despite not being covered by the sheets of the bed, he pulled me against his chest so his chin rested over the crown of my head. His Magitek arm rested over my hip, his hand palming my lower back, the metal cool for now but it would warm up soon as the heat of my body melted into it.
"One day, Tenshi..." I heard him whisper, his voice rough with an emotion I couldn't identify, and he wouldn't let me look at his face so I could see his expression, "One day, I will reclaim Tenebrae as its rightful king. And you will stand beside me crowned as Tenebrae's queen, dressed in the most beautiful of silks of all Eos has to offer, the most beautiful gems will adorn the crown you will bear. The sylleblossom fields will bloom again...and perhaps if you are willing to bless me with the privilege and honor, our children will run through those fields. Enjoying them as my sister, my mother and father, and you and I once did. This I swear to you."
My breath hitched. I knew Ravus meant this. He rarely said things with such conviction, such determination in his voice. He was going to reclaim Tenebrae for the two of us, I knew he would. We would be together, the two of us, and we would be able to start over.
"Yeah, We can do that. We'll go back to Tenebrae. We'll rule it together, and we'll both watch our children run through the sylleblossom fields. It's a promise Ravus, one I'll help you keep." I whispered back.
I felt the gentle press of slightly chapped lips to my forehead and I smiled. Yes, finally I was happy again...and so was Ravus.

Hello again! I'm continuously loving your writings! Since it's officially spooky season and me being a pumpkin baby, could I request the chocobros reaction to a sinister haunted house? Maybe s/o loves horror and creepy things and drags the babies to mentally torture them because it's fun to see them freaking out 😁
OOhh!! I almost forgot to get this one out!! I love Halloween and have been wanting to write something like this for awhile! So thank you for submitting the request!

Noctis
Acts very nonchalant before entering.
Doesn’t think this will be a big deal.
He’s not a child, you know.
But you see him swallow when you lay eyes on the greeter,
An old man with gory makeup, making it look like his head is nearly severed from his body,
And dark circles around his eyes.
He jumps and squeaks at every single jump scare,
But he’s not doing so bad.
Sure he’s scared, but he’s keeping it decently under control.
You laugh after each scare and he just pouts.
Until you’re nearing the end.
A clown with an ax jumps out in front of you,
Laughing psychotically.
It’s huge yellow eyes staring down at you hungrily.
Noctis loses it.
He lets out a high pitched scream and WARPS out.
Leaving the actor stunned that he just did that.
You and the clown star at each other, stunned.
Before you start to laugh and run to catch up to Noct.
Outside, he’s sitting on the steps,
Caught between shame, fear, and indignation.
When you ask if he’s ok he just glares at you.
“Do you want to go get a milkshake?”
“Yes. And you’re paying.”
Prompto
You pick out a haunted maze to take him to
But don’t tell him what the theme is.
He makes no bones about it,
He’s scared.
Doesn’t do horror well.
But he says he trusts you…
You get to the corn maze.
The dead stalks tower above you,
Crinkling in the wind.
You begin your walk through.
Everything is dark and you’re completely alone.
“This isn’t so bad…” Prompto squeaks,
Jumping as the wind makes the stalks move.
He starts to hum as you round a corner.
And that’s when you’re noticed.
It starts with a soft growl
That slowly turns into a moan.
“Did you hear that?” Prompto is already sweating.
He looks around for the source of the growl.
All is silent.
When a zombie actor bursts from around a corner of the maze!
Growling and grotesque,
With outstretched hands.
Behind them, a never ending stream of more actors move!
Rushing towards you!!
Prompto screams and grabs your hand,
Bolting around the opposite corner.
You continue through the maze, hand in hand,
Prompto screaming at each spook before running in the opposite direction.
You make it to the exit, not even aware of how you got here.
Finally free, you stop and double over to catch your breath.
You can’t stop laughing as Prompto glares over at you.
“ZOMBIES?! Why did it have to be zombies?!”
“What? You don’t like a little zombie escape?” You choke out.
“NO! They’re creepy and humanish and there’s too many of them and...and…” He spits out.
You continue laughing as you take his hand.
“But we made it out…” You pull him in close for a kiss.
He smiles into your kiss.
“You’re going to pay for that. I don’t know how yet, but you will.”
Ignis
He’ll do whatever makes you happy,
So he agrees to go to a haunted house with you.
This guy doesn’t seem like he’s easy to scare, so you’re going to have to try hard.
You do your research and pick out the scariest haunted house you can find!
It’s located in an old prison, so it has to be good!
Ignis is good through most of it,
Doesn’t flinch at the jump scares and greets the actors!
But there is one thing that starts to get to him.
This is an absurdly long tour,
But by a few minutes in, Ignis keeps looking over his shoulder,
Snapping his head back at the slightest sound.
“What is it?”
“Oh...it’s nothing.”
You continue on.
A few minutes later, you hear him mutter,
“It’s still there…”
And after you round a lit corner,
You start to realize what it may be:
There’s a shadow following you.
It’s always there, it’s shape slightly morphing each time it moves,
Sometimes its just out of sight and sometimes it’s right behind you,
But it’s always there.
You’re near the end of the tour when Ignis pushes you!
You turn back, just in time to see long shadowy fingers pull back.
Ignis clears his throat.
“Instincts. I apologize.”
You enter the last hallway, the door out is in sight!
When a maniacal laugh echos through he hall.
What had been a small shadow following you grows in size.
“You think I’m going to let you leave?”
A guttural voice asks.
The shadow has grow to tower over you,
It’s shape morphing to reveal a mouth lined with teeth.
Ignis grimaces and bolts!
Grabbing your hand and sprinting for the final door.
You make it outside, chased by that laugh.
The door slams behind you.
Ignis stands for a moment, staring at it, ready to strike.
Finally, you whisper, “It’s alright dear.”
Ignis moans. “I should know that…”
You laugh and pump your fist in victory!
“I scared the great Ignis Scienticia!!!”
Ignis simply scowls at you.
“Is that truly an achievement worth being proud of?”
“Yes!! Now let’s go view our photos!” You grab his hand and head towards the gift shop.
“There where photos?!” He squeaks.
Gladio
Agrees to do a haunted house with you,
Promising to “keep you safe” through it.
You simply laugh,
Because you have th perfect one in mind.
You arrive and stare up at the old structure,
It’s a haunted hospital,
Inside an old time hospital!
It’s perfect.
Gladio looks like he’s staring death in the face:
Absolutely terrified.
This man hates hospitals to begin with,
So this is going to be fun (for you).
He always refuses to go to a hospital,
Instead opting to “let the wound heal naturally”
Or  treating it himself.
The whole buildings freak him out.
But he goes in, just for you.
You hear him muttering “It’s all fake” over and over again.
Once inside he jumps at every little scare,
Gorey nurse with a giant needle?
NOPE NOPE NOPE
Straight jacket patient?
HE’S OUT
By the end of it, he’s shaking.
You leave the hospital with your goody bag.
You ask jokingly how it was,
and he responds,
“Eh, not the worst hospital I’ve ever been in.”
Want a bonus? Cause I do...
Ravus
You are in an actual abandoned house looking for rebels against the empire.
But your info was bad,
This is a tonberry nest!
And Ravus hates those little bastards!
He was chased by one as a child.
Wide eyed, terrified, he cuts down the first one to jump at them.
“I think it’s time to go.” He won’t go any further than that.
It’s sort of adorable to find what he is actually scared of,
But he has good reason for it.
Luna
Would pretend to be scared to make you happy but is tougher than you are.
Likely has watched way too many horror movies to be scared by much of this crap.
Nyx
Gets way more scared than he thought he would and warps out of there within minutes.
Cor
Sits outside drinking as you go through the haunted house,
Hoping and happy when you rush back to his arms.
Ardyn
Runs the best haunted house ever!!!
Aranea
Yells “FIGHT ME” at every actor that scares her and punches a few.

100 Ways Challenge - Prompt Fill #24
This might have been influenced by the fact that Ninja Warrior is on at the gym when I go. These two would be great at it though, wouldn’t they?
Prompt: 24. “Just because.”
Fandom: FFXV
Pairing: Gladnyx (Gladio/Nyx)
For: @aliatori
Rating: G
No Warnings Apply
Team WarpFlight
“Welcome back to the fifth annual edition of Insomnia’s Ninja Warrior!”
The crowd cheers, and Nyx and Gladio bounce on their toes, excited for the start of the race. Nyx does a showy, if sloppy, head-over-heels flip, and the crowd roars more. Gladio rips off his shirt (he’d been planning on doing it anyway, but it’s also a good chance to one-up his opponent) and flexes.
Nyx rolls steel-blue eyes toward him in that look, and Gladio gives him a shit-eating grin in response. Sure, they’re competitors, but they’re also something more, and that’s adding a little bit of a sexy edge to the day that Gladio finds himself fully enjoying.
They hop, adrenaline rushing, while the announcer plays the cheesy video of them training together. Sure, it had been a gimmick to get themselves onto the show - the t-shirts, the silly nicknames of Warp and Flight (the latter for Gladio’s giant eagle tattoo, of course) -  but it had seemed to work. The producers had also been excited about playing on Gladio’s role as someone close to the royal family, but he’d put the lid on that quickly, with backup from Clarus. The production team had chosen, instead, to focus on them training together, and Gladio watches a guffaw burst out of Nyx as he looks up to see a series of slickly-captured bloopers of the two of them spool itself out for maximum viewer amusement.
They watch themselves bigger than life on the large screen, giving each other burly handclasps and spotting each other and shouting in encouragement, and Gladio catches Nyx’s eye again. They hadn’t included any footage of the two of them making out or anything, but at least Gladio thinks it’s pretty clear that they’re something more than rivals and training partners. Who knows, he shrugs, people see what they want to see.
The video ends, and Iris starts screaming her head off from the sidelines. She’s decked out in a red Flight shirt, as are Clarus, Noct, Prom, and Ignis, and then the camera shows Libertus, Pelna, and Crowe, all wearing blue Warp shirts and hollering in excitement. Regis and Luna had staunchly refused to pick a side, but both are absolutely watching and grinning from the royal box above the bleachers. (Ravus, too, had insisted he didn’t care, but as the camera pans Gladio catches sight of the flash of a red Flight t-shirt under his jacket, and he laughs.).
Everyone’s playing it up for the cameras, but also the energy is infectious. This is the first head-to-head race they’ve had in this competition, and it’s exciting. Gladio and Nyx had scored nearly the same times on the qualifying courses, each trading narrow victories of fractions of seconds.
The countdown begins, and Nyx, not to be outdone, throws his shirt to the side. Gladio cackles again at the whoop from the crowd, and they take off at top speed as the buzzer goes off.
Not quite stride for stride but at even speed - Gladio does have several inches of leg length on Nyx, but he’s notoriously fast and scrambly - they launch themselves toward the first obstacle.  More like a fun zipline than a challenge, both sail through, unconcerned, and land safely on the mat beyond. Without hesitating, they both barrel forward to the series of spinning blocks. Nyx leaps across, darting from one to another without giving it a chance to spin and throw him into the water. He’s deft enough that it looks like magic, but that would be against the rules.
Gladio, on the other hand, nails the obstacle with brute force, gathering enough running speed to launch himself across the last three entirely - less risk that way.  He pauses before the next obstacle, and looks up at it.
The Jumping Spider. Nyx takes no prep time, and bounces off the trampoline and up instantly, grabbing hold with feet and hands like he does this all day. Gladio takes a breath and then up, squashing his massive bulk into a shape that can move him through.
It’s surprisingly easy once he’s in there though, and his chest and core strength launch him through faster than he thought, shaving a little off the tiny advantage Nyx had scored through his lack of hesitation.
They fling themselves over to a grip-strength obstacle, and Nyx lets out a wild laugh. Gladio enjoys this, sure, but Nyx loves it - the adoration from the crowd and the sheer physical, stops-pulled-out exertion are like drugs to him. Gladio’s responsive laugh is more doting, and he leaps onto the obstacle.
Grip strength is one of Gladio’s things - he hasn’t been swinging a sword since he was a kid for nothing. He can hang here all day, and so can Nyx. But the obstacle lurches and rocks, and uses Gladio’s own mass against him, as he’s got to hold on against the backlash of his own bodyweight swinging.
He’s also tall, and this obstacle dangles dangerously close to the water. Between getting slowed down by the extra pressure of hanging on and the need to curl himself up, Gladio’s losing even more time.
Nyx is crawling across the underside of the rope net at the end of the obstacle - a fast if untraditional method, and it gives Gladio an excellent view of his arms, chest, and abs flexing before Gladio launches himself up onto the platform for the last obstacle. Gladio bounces into and out of the net like a normal person instead of scrambling like a spider, and it takes him a moment to get unstuck but seems much less complicated.
Nyx hasn’t planned on this being a head-to-head race, and his own net lurches wildly as Gladio’s bounces. He very nearly loses it, and his ass dangles dangerously close to the disqualifying pool of water beneath. Gladio’s up and out and wiping his hands on his pants in anticipation of grabbing the edge of that giant sheer wall they’ve got to climb.
Predictably, Nyx launches himself up the wall a nanosecond faster than Gladio. They’re close enough to touch, and Nyx does. Rather than slam down his button, he reaches down and hauls Gladio up, and they finish together. A tie.
They’re gasping for breath, chests heaving, and the crowd is losing its collective shit.
“Why did you do that?” Gladio turns toward Nyx as he heaves their joined hands into the sky.
He gets one of those smiles in return. Not the crowd-smile, not the look-how-charming-I-am-smile. Not even the that-was-funny-smile. Nope, this one is special, and Gladio still remembers the first night he saw it, and the first time he knew this thing they had together was different.
“Just because.”
It is a tie, officially. Even though Nyx held back a little, they’re still counting it. The announcer is going on about it while confetti rains down, and Gladio grins. This way, the show will have to donate to both the Royal Animal Rescue and the Phoenix Down Medical Fund. But mostly, Gladio thinks, Nyx had wanted to do this together, and that was pretty great too.
He grabs a scruffy chin in big sweaty hands shaking with effort and adrenaline, and kisses Nyx long and deep, right there in front of Insomnia and the TV cameras and everyone. Just in case they didn’t get the subtext from the video.
Gladio pulls back and beams at him, and Nyx winds a hand up behind Gladio’s neck and kisses him again. Is that Regis hollering? People seem to be pretty okay with Team WarpFlight, and Gladio’s pretty happy about it, too.

Dearest Heart (Ravus x Reader)
Tumblr media
COME ONE COME ALL TO SOME RAVUS FLANGST BROUGHT TO YOU BY A LAMEASS (me) AS REQUESTED BY @aeciru !!!!!!
From the prompt list:
#8: “I don’t need you anymore.”
#20: “Please don’t hurt me like this.”
#59: “You own my heart.”
I did all aforementioned prompts despite having the option to choose just one because there just isn’t enough love for Ravus ok!!!!! I took the liberty to adjust the prompts accordingly to fit with the dialogue though.
ALSO. BOY OH BOY WAS WRITING THIS A CHALLENGE. Ravus and Luna speak in a really eloquent and flowery manner, so I did my best apply such a style and drop contractions here and there whenever I saw fit. I went back and forth with several sections here just to beef up the story and make the relationship and history with Rea more developed and fluid. (((((idk why but i felt pressured to do our boye real good)))))) (i hope i delivered)
(keeping just ravus in character is hard okkkkk)
Speaking of!!!! I read that smol Ravus was actually really nice and kind, so I wrote him as such in the beginning. He becomes the Giant Angst Bean™ that we all know and love later on.
Title was inspired by @birdsandivory who often tags posts relating to their s/o as “dearest heart.” I thought it was the most DARLING thing ever, so I hope you don’t mind that I took that as inspiration!!
Tagging @thatoneawkwardfanthing and @lokewight who asked to be tagged!
i hope you all enjoy this ; w ;
word count: 5.3k+ words, fluff and angst, soft Ravus and hard Ravus (not sexual ok), spoilers for Kingsglaive
Growing up within the walls of House Nox Fleuret was a privilege that not many were privy to. Luckily for you, your family maintained close ties to the royal family of Tenebrae, thus granting you access to the more personal side of the Nox Fleuret family.
Though you were shy, your parents insisted that you befriend the Nox Fleuret siblings as a show of goodwill. Something about “maintaining peace,” or whatever it was the adults often talked about.
When you were first brought to Tenebrae to meet the nation’s royal family, you were in awe of the region’s majestic architecture — was that an actual castle? — and its signature blue flora, the sylleblossom. Fenestala Manor blew you away in particular, so you were all the more enlivened when your parents explained that this would be your new living quarters.
It was a long time coming, your move to the Manor. After all, you were being groomed to become the Royal Advisor to rising generation of Nox Fleurets.
Upon your arrival at the Manor, Queen Sylva had greeted you personally with the warmest of receptions. She even offered you a brief hug after you clumsily bowed before her. The queen’s friendliness took you aback, but it made you feel all fuzzy on the inside. She was nice.
With Queen Sylva were her two children, a boy and a girl. The female of the two siblings gravitated towards you naturally. She called herself Lunafreya, and she had the sweetest eyes and kindest smile. You regarded her with awe of her beauty.
“This is my brother, Ravus,” Lunafreya introduced as she gestured for you to step closer towards her sibling.
“Welcome to Tenebrae,” Ravus greeted with a friendly smile. “I do hope you enjoy your stay here.”
The different hues in Ravus’ eyes helped you maintain eye contact with him. “H-Hello,” you mumbled timidly. “I’m (Name).”
“What a lovely name!” Lunafreya clapped her hands excitedly as she looked to Ravus. “Wouldn’t you agree, Brother?”
Ravus nodded. “Indeed it is.”
You immediately blushed under their compliments. “Thank you,” you managed to let out, feeling the last of your discomfort crawl away from your skin. These two were good people, you could tell. Even though they were royalty, they welcomed you into their home — into their lives — with open arms.
That was the start of your allegiance to the royal family of Tenebrae.
*
“Princess,” you called. “It’s time for your lessons.”
“Oh (Name),” Lunafreya hummed from her bedroom. “Can’t we skip for once? Please?”
It had been several years since your life had first become interwoven with that of House Nox Fleuret’s. Since your initial meeting, you had only grown closer to both Lunafreya and Ravus at varying degrees.
Lunafreya was almost always attached to your hip. If she wasn’t busy with her duties, she was accompanied by Gentiana. Otherwise, she was often around you. You had come to love her like a sister and would do anything to keep that divine smile on her face.
On the other hand, you had also forged a very formidable friendship with the elder Nox Fleuret. You were closer to Ravus in age, so naturally, the two of you found a lot of things in common. In the years you had spent getting to know him, you had come to realize that Ravus was very much like his mother.
Unbelievably kind.
Incredibly accommodating.
So, so warm.
You were honored that Ravus felt safe enough around you to let his guard down and not just be himself, but also show his softer side to you.
You wanted to think that you were at least somewhat special to him in that regard.
These days, you weren’t sure what to make of the butterflies that went wild in your tummy whenever you were around Ravus, but spending time with him always made you giddy and caused your heart to race. It was hard not to smile in his presence.
“Your mother would have my head if I allowed another absence, Princess.”
“She would not!” the young blonde retorted as she fixed her fringe in place. “Mother is much too nice for such barbaric extremes.”
“Perhaps not,” you replied, a teasing smile sneaking its way onto your face, “but if Her Highness won’t have my head, then it will be your brother who may scold me if I continue to be soft on you.”
“That won’t happen,” Lunafreya assured you, a knowing smirk on her otherwise delicate face. “Ravus adores you.”
You immediately flushed at her statement. “H-He…! He does not!”
“Oh, but he does. In fact, Ravus-”
“Are you speaking ill of me again, dearest sister?” Ravus’ voice interrupted from the doorway.
You spun around to face him, feeling embarrassed that he had nearly caught onto what his sister had been insinuating. “My Prince!” You bowed before him, trying to keep the warmth in your cheeks at bay.
“At ease,” he said, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder to set you upright again. “How many times must I insist that ‘Ravus’ is enough?”
“My apologies.”
“And how many times must I defend my honor in front of you, brother dearest?” Lunafreya challenged teasingly, staring indignantly at her older sibling with her hands on her hips. “When have I ever spoken ill of you?”
“If we count all the instances,” he said, “then you will most surely miss your lessons, and we cannot allow that, now can we?”
Ravus glanced at you then, his dual-colored eyes holding a playful glint. You took this as a sign to usher your charge out the door and off to her obligations.
“I-Indeed, we cannot!”
Lunafreya threw her hands up in the air, exasperated. “Ah, I can only take so much when the two of you bully me together! Off I go, then.”
“We-! We weren’t bullying you, Lady Luna-” Your impending apology was cut short with the realization that Lunafreya had already left. Flustered, you turned to Ravus and asked, “She’s not… She’s not angry with me, is she?”
Ravus chuckled, waving his hand to dismiss your fears. “Fret not, dear (Name). My sister merely jests.”
You let out a sigh of relief. “Lady Lunafreya will be the death of me one of these days.”
“As she will be for me, as well.”
His reply caused a few giggles to escape your lips. Once your small bout of laughter tapered, you found Ravus to be looking at you with what appeared to be fondness in his eyes. His gaze made you blush, so you opted to break the silence by bringing the attention back to him.
“So how may I be of service of you today, my Prince?” you asked, returning to your well-mannered front.
Ravus sighed at your ignorance of his name yet again. “Yes, I’ve come to you in need of a favor, actually.”
“Oh? A favor?” You looked at him questioningly, your curiosity piqued. “I will do my best to be of assistance to you, my-”
“Ravus,” he repeated sternly, though his eyes remained tender. “When we are in private, kindly refer to me by my name.”
‘I take it back,’ you thought, feeling your cheeks burn all the more thanks to Ravus’ sweet plea. ‘It is the prince who will be the death of me, not the princess.’
“R-Ravus,” you tested, feeling lighter at the sight of elation on the prince’s face upon the utterance of his name from your mouth.
“Much better.”
You had to keep it together to stop yourself from swooning at his dazzling smile. At the age of 15, Ravus had grown well into his body, and by the looks of it, he would only continue to grow as the years go by. His face had matured some from the time when you first met as children, and while his features sharpened, his kindness had not wavered.
Especially not around you.
“U-Um… Ravus. Ahem. What is this favor you speak of?”
“You have heard of the upcoming ball, have you not?”
“Ah, yes.” You nodded, thinking back on the invitations you had glossed over just a few days prior. “The one celebrating our nation, correct?”
“That is the one. May I ask if you will be preoccupied then?”
You did a mental scan of your duties and responsibilities leading up to the ball. “I may need to assist Lady Lunafreya,” you answered, “but otherwise, I will be present at the sidelines in the event that my aid is needed for the remainder of the night.”
“I don’t suppose you would like to attend as a guest of the family?” Ravus quietly proposed.
Your brows furrowed. What need of Ravus required you to attend as a guest of House Nox Fleuret? You would already be present at the ball anyhow, so the invitation seemed odd as it was rather unnecessary.
Regardless, attending as a guest of House Nox Fleuret meant that the festivities would at least be a little more entertaining, what with the company of Lunafreya and Ravus making everything a little more enjoyable.
It also meant that you would by their side for most of the night, and that alone seemed more appealing than having to lurk in the shadows by yourself.
“That is a very generous offer, my- Ravus.” You winced at how your correction made it sound like you had referred to the prince as ‘yours,’ but you trudged on, hoping he hadn’t taken notice of your slip up. “I would be honored to-”
You were stopped by Ravus clearing his throat. “I’m afraid I failed to clarify.” Dusting off imaginary dirt from his sleeve, he added, “Would you be willing to attend the ball as my guest?”
You blinked up at him, caught off guard at the offer. “A-As…? As your…?”
He huffed a little uncharacteristically. “As my date.”
“Ah.”
An awkward silence enveloped the room. On your part, you were unsure as to how to respond to Ravus’ request. While there was no denying that you would be more than happy to accompany him to the ball — as his date, no less — when it came right down to it, you were torn between your personal sentiments towards the prince and what was expected of you as his Royal Advisor.
Perhaps it was because you were in your teenage years — being just a year younger than Ravus — but it was quite evident to you that you had begun to develop some feelings for your charge. It was a bit of a pickle for you, because it became a challenge having to keep your feelings at bay without crossing the line of what was considered proper.
Though your relationship with the Nox Fleuret family was definitely friendly and familiar, it was still encased in decorum and your respective obligations not just to each other, but to the nation of Tenebrae as well.
Thus, Ravus’ proposal practically blindsided you. You weren’t so naive as to presume he harbored some sort of romantic feelings for you as well, but you could hope, couldn’t you? He wasn’t required to bring a date to the ball; you knew, because you helped piece the occasion together. So what was he doing here, asking you of all people to come with him?
Your nerves and apprehension over how to approach Ravus’ offer must have shown on your face, as he immediately backtracked, saying, “You are not obligated to accept, of course.” Was he worried that you would only say yes because you thought you had to? “I am well aware that such gatherings are not to your taste. Thus, my request may be more of a nuisance than anything, so-”
“Yes.”
Ravus’ rambling came to a halt. “I… beg your pardon?”
“Yes, Ravus.” You gave him a bright smile, hoping it would convey enough of your feelings for him to understand. “I would be delighted to accompany you to the ball, if it won’t be too much trouble for you.”
His shoulders practically sagged in utmost relief. “No, never,” he said as a small smile began to bloom on his face. “You are not an inconvenience in the slightest.”
“So…” You looked away, feeling bashful over the how things had unfolded. “I shall see you then, my Prince?”
“You do me the greatest honor.” Ravus reached out to you and delicately grasped your hand in order to lay a soft kiss on it. “I shall see you then, my (Name).”
“Ex-Excuse me?” you blubbered, feeling your cheeks grow even warmer. “Your (Name)?”
“It’s only fair, is it not?” he asked, a teasing lilt in his voice. “I am your Ravus, and so in return, you are my (Name).”
“Th-That’s-!”
“I shall see you at the ball, dearest heart. Good day.”
And with that, Ravus not only left you a flustered mess, he took with him the rest of your heart as well.
You didn’t really mind, though.
*
You often look back on that time with much fondness and love. The ball was boring as expected, but being by Ravus’ side for the entirety of the night made it much, much more tolerable. Lunafreya sending the two of you some smug smiles also made for some amusement that night.
Despite the fact that you came as Ravus’ date, neither of you initiated the step to further your friendship into a romance. Both of you merely skirted around your feelings, too shy to do anything beyond the confines of your personal and professional lives together.
Lunafreya often urged you to take the initiative and allow the love between you and her brother to prosper, but you always evaded her prodding. In spite of Lunafreya’s unabashed approval and support, you believed that you were in no position to present your feelings to Ravus and expect some sort of reciprocation in the form of a romantic relationship.
No, you wanted it to come from him. You were merely his advisor and a childhood friend at best. There was no way you were going to burden him with your feelings, not when you were unsure if this was what he really wanted with you. If he was not going to take the step forward, then you would adjust to his pace, as you have done all these years.
You were content with remaining by his side. Whether it be as his advisor, his friend, or his lover… so long as you were with him, then that was more than enough for you.
Things changed just a year later with the death of Queen Sylva and the imperial control of Niflheim over Tenebrae.
*
Now, years later, you still remain by Ravus’ side. Many things have since changed, such as Lunafreya’s appointment as the new Oracle, as well as Ravus’ new occupation under Niflheim’s invasion.
No longer was he the prince of Tenebrae. Now, he was known as Ravus Nox Fleuret, the High Commander of the Imperial Army.
You still referred to him as your prince, though. Ravus would merely ignore the title as if you had never said it in the first place.
After the death of Queen Sylva, Lunafreya had pleaded with you to place your focus on her brother rather than on herself. You had objected, arguing that both she and Ravus were your responsibility. However, the young girl proved to you just how mature she was beyond her years when she countered that Ravus needed you more than she did.
“There is only so much that I can do for him,” she had admitted to you tearfully. “But you… you are his heart. Please, (Name), I beg of you. Please do not leave my brother’s side.”
“Lady Lunafreya…” You had held onto her as she fell apart in your arms. Right then and there, you swore that you would remain steadfast in your devotion to Ravus regardless of what life would throw at you.
“I promise.”
If only it were so easy.
At present, the young boy you came to know and love was nonexistent in the Ravus that stood before you today. Gone were the warm smiles and gentle eyes, now replaced by hardened glares and permanent scowls.
The death of his mother had clearly changed Ravus. Though you held him close to your heart, you struggled to reach him beyond the icy walls he had put up around his own heart. Still, you stood by him and remained at his side amidst all the changes he went through.
“My Prince,” you murmured timidly, stepping into Ravus’ office. “Your sister requests your presence for supper.”
“Tell her to proceed with her meal,” replied Ravus from a pile of papers he had not looked up from.
“My Prince, if I may.” Shutting the door behind you, you made your way across the room and settled in front of his desk. “It’s been several days since you last shared a meal with Lady Lunafreya. She merely misses your company, and-”
“How many times must I tell you?” Ravus abruptly stood up and sent you a cold glare. Though you had become used to such painful gazes, you had to admit that they still pierced at your heart rather agonizingly. “I am no longer a prince, and you must address me accordingly by my new title instead.”
It was hard to keep your face neutral when the sadness in your heart overflowed for Ravus.
“My apologies, High Commander,” you muttered softly, offering a bow. “Old habits die hard, I suppose.”
“If only some would die easier than others,” you heard him grumble under his breath.
His harsh tone made you wince, but you did nothing to address his statement. Sending him an affirmative nod, you said, “I bid you a good evening, then, High Commander.”
Noticing your wounded look, Ravus softened his voice and called out to you almost apologetically. “Have you forgotten?” He combed a hand through his hair, which had grown much longer over the years. “I am Ravus to you in private.”
So there was still a bit of the old Ravus somewhere in there. The thought made you smile, albeit a bit sadly.
“Please don’t forget to eat something, Ravus.” Your eyes softened as they met his. “Feel free to summon me if my help is required.”
At that, you made yourself scarce, unaware of the look of longing in Ravus’ eyes as he stared after you.
*
Just a few hours later, Ravus had called for you once more, requesting for dinner. You delivered his meal to his office without a word, only to be stopped by him as he requested that you join him and have a bite as well.
“I’ve already eaten, Ravus.”
“Would you do me the honor of gracing me with your company, then?” He pulled out a chair for you, the hard strain in his eyes growing tender for a few moments.
Only you still got to see this side of Ravus. Only you could do this to him.
“It would be my pleasure.”
The two of you sat there in his office, basking in the quiet. Though no words were shared, the company you offered each other made for a fairly pleasant night.
*
When word of Lunafreya’s imminent union with Prince Noctis of Insomnia came to light, you grew worried. Not just for Lunafreya, but for Ravus as well. Ever since the death of his mother, he had come to loathe the Caelum line and, in effect, Noctis himself.
His bitterness and rage towards the Lucian royal family had consumed him over the years. You had seen firsthand how such dark thoughts and feelings had changed Ravus, so with the announcement of his sister’s engagement to the Crown Prince, you became distraught over how your own prince would handle the news.
One day, you noticed the younger Nox Fleuret carrying a suitcase as she made her way across Fenestala Manor. She appeared to be dressed for travel, prompting you to wonder what her intentions were. As far as you knew, Lunafreya had no meetings scheduled for today. She made no mention of going out, either.
With your brows furrowed, you caught up to her and asked, “Princess, where are you off to?”
“(Name)!” she squeaked in surprise. “I am in need of your help, kind (Name). Please, allow me to leave as I must speak to King Regis immediately!”
“King Regis…?” you repeated, trying to process the growing urgency on her face. “Is this about your engagement to Prince Noctis?”
“It is more than that.” Lunafreya nodded, taking ahold of your hand. “Please, (Name), I must make my way to Insomnia as soon as possible. Will you assist me?”
Your mind scrambled to sort out your thoughts. “I… I cannot, my Princess,” you informed her regretfully, feeling a pang at the frown that took residence on her face. “But it is only because I swore that I would remain by your brother’s side. You remember, do you not?”
“Of course I do. I am eternally grateful for your honor and devotion to Ravus.”
You bit your lip, sending a prayer to the gods above that all would work well. “Still, I cannot simply abandon you in your time of need.” You pulled her to the side and stealthily made your way to the lower floors of the manor. “I may not be able to escort you to Lucis, but I can at least ensure that you find your way out of Tenebrae.”
Lunafreya’s expression brightened at your words. “Thank you, (Name). I owe you.”
“You owe me nothing. Now come, we must make haste.”
Both you and Lunafreya had evaded the imperial guards that monitored the hallways of the manor. Just as you were nearly at the door, the two of you were stopped by none other than Ravus himself.
Snatching Lunafreya from your grasp, he dragged her towards a nearby room, but not before sending you a scathing look.
“And you,” he snarled, “I will have a word with you once I have settled things with my sister.”
The dread that churned at the pit of your stomach almost hurt as more as the pain in your heart due to Ravus’ anger directed towards you.
*
“What were you thinking?!” he barked, slamming the door of his office.
You opted to create a small distance between you and Ravus, growing cautious of his boiling rage. Drawing closer to his desk, you answered, “I merely offered my assistance where it was needed, Ravus. It is as I have done for you and your family all these years.”
Ravus sneered at your response. “Were you foolish enough to allow Lunafreya into the clutches of our mother’s murderer?”
The neutral mask you wore began to crumble with the beginnings of a frown. “Ravus, I understand that you blame King Regis for the death of our queen, but-”
“Understand? You think you understand?”
This was the first time you had ever truly been on the receiving end of Ravus’ fury. It wounded you deeply, causing you to wither away at his spiteful voice. His build, which had grown sturdier even more, now felt menacing as he towered over you.
Still, you reminded yourself of your promise to Lunafreya, no matter how much Ravus was now hurting you.
“You think you understand what my sister and I have been through?” he continued with a scoff. “Are you so stupid to believe that you are so special simply due to our history together?”
Your eyes began to water by then, but you remained rooted in your spot. “I-I…”
“If that is what you believe,” he snapped, “then you are much more idiotic than I thought you to be.”
This time, you flinched. You kept your head bowed in order to hide the steady stream of tears that rolled down your face. “R-Ravus, please…” you hiccuped, “I know you are hurting, but please…”
“YOU KNOW NOTHING!”
A sob threatened to escape your throat, but you slapped a hand over your mouth to keep it in. “Please,” you whimpered pathetically, “do not hurt me like this, Ravus.”
Your plea seemed to have fallen on deaf ears, for Ravus broke you down even further with one simple but cruel statement.
“I do not need you any longer.”
“Wh-What?”
“You are hereby dismissed of your duties,” he continued, voice devoid of emotion. “Until a more suitable role for you can be found, you will remain at the manor for the time being.”
You were openly weeping by now. “Ravus, you cannot mean this.”
“I do,” he retaliated coldly. “Now get out.”
You lifted your pain-stricken gaze, only to pull away the moment your eyes met Ravus’ seething glare. Where was the Ravus you loved? This wasn’t him. The Ravus you loved wouldn’t hurt you so brutally without any heed to your sensitive emotions. The Ravus you loved wouldn’t strip you of the one thing that gave your life meaning throughout the years.
What were you to do now, if you could not remain by his side?
Sniffling, you shuffled your way towards the doorway where Ravus stood. You lowered your head once more as you bumped against him. But, before taking your leave, you offered some parting words to Ravus that would haunt him forevermore.
“You… You will always be my heart, dear Ravus. I pray that you find peace and happiness.”
*
In the days leading to Lunafreya’s escort to Lucis, you steered clear of both her and Ravus. Ultimately, you were no longer bound to them, at least by Ravus’ words.
‘I have failed you, my Princess,’ you thought glumly, looking up at the night sky. ‘How can I remain by your brother’s side if he no longer wants me there?’
Soon, Fenestala Manor grew quiet with the departure of the remaining Nox Fleurets as they traversed to Insomnia. It didn’t take long before news of the nation’s fall reached your region, causing you to plunge into a pit of despair as the tragedy sent a blow to your very core.
King Regis, dead. Even the sweet Prince Noctis was said to have passed on. But what truly broke you was the news that your dearest Lunafreya was gone as well.
Maria, who had remained in your company the past few days, could do little to console you as you drowned in your hysteria. This couldn’t be true. You refused to believe it. No, Lunafreya was still alive. She had to be.
And what of Ravus? Where was he now? Had he fallen amidst Niflheim’s betrayal as well?
You didn’t know what to do with yourself.
‘Please,’ you begged to the heavens above, ‘please, keep them safe. They’re all I have.’
*
Some of your worries had been eased at the return of Ravus. Though he retained his cold demeanor, he brought with him a new prosthetic — one that you couldn’t help but marvel at as you stood before him in his office yet again.
Though news of his arrival had reached you, you had forced yourself to remain at your quarters and not seek him out. With the memory of your last conversation still painfully fresh, you chose not to look for Ravus, providing him the space and privacy he had forcefully set between the two of you.
Your efforts were put to rest when Ravus himself summoned you. Here you now were, avoiding his gaze as you fidgeted nervously in front of him.
The silence was incredibly overbearing, but you feared that if you spoke, he would only lash out at you again. Thus, you kept mum, giving Ravus the floor to voice his thoughts, whatever they may be.
At first, he sighed. Then, with a few careful steps, he approached you. Raising a hand — from his flesh limb, notably — he caressed the side of your cheek in a motion so affectionate, you had to question if this was really the same Ravus you had last perceived before the blatant dismissal of your obligations to him.
“You appear well,” he commented softly, his hand leaving your face.
You couldn’t help but long for his touch. Still, all you could do was nod, feeling as if your voice and words would merely betray you if you tried to speak.
“I…” You could hear his fists clench. “Will you look at me? Please?”
At this, you lifted your gaze to meet his eyes. Based on the memory of your last meeting, you had expected to see bitter rage in his stare. You were proven wrong, however, as you found nothing but throbbing emotion looking back at you.
There it was. The same fondness he used to look at you with. The same tenderness and affection his dual-colored eyes had always revered you in.
There was also one other thing you found in his soft gaze, but you dared not voice your thoughts in fear that you were simply dreaming.
In his eyes, you found love.
“I am sorry.” His voice broke. The last time you were a witness to Ravus’ tears was shortly after the death of his mother. Now, such waterworks were making a return, though you found it hard to fathom that these tears were due to his own grieving for you.
“I was wrong,” Ravus went on, reaching out to you but stopping short, as if he was afraid you would reject him. You eased his fears by meeting him halfway, reaching up on your heels to hold his face in your hands. “I do need you, (Name). I will always need you.”
His hands enveloped yours as you both cried for each other. “Ravus…”
“I meant none of it. Not a single word I had uttered that day held any truth. Please, believe me.”
“I know, Ravus,” you sobbed. “I know.”
You don’t know what it was that had happened to him in Insomnia to cause this sudden turnaround in Ravus, but you weren’t going to question it. All that mattered was that he was here now, with you.
“I realize now that it was I who was the foolish one. It was always me. Never, ever you.” This large man, whose mere presence held a threatening aura towards his foes, was now a snivelling mess in your hands. “I beg for your forgiveness.”
“There is nothing to forgive,” you assured him tenderly, wiping away the tears that had leaked during your exchange of words. “I am relieved that you, too, are well.”
“I will never forgive myself for hurting you that day,” he admitted, pulling you closer. You felt your lip quiver as you recalled the relentless words he had directed to you back then.
You shook your head, trying to rid yourself of such memories. “None of that,” you told both Ravus and yourself. “What matters is that you are here now.”
“There is so much that has been lost, but I will not allow you to be lost to me as well. Not anymore.” He paused for a bit, moving his grasp from your hands to your face, albeit hesitantly. “What you said then, did you mean it?”
“Mean what?”
“You… You own my heart, (Name),” he confessed at last, leaning his forehead on yours. “I would like to know if your sentiments remain the same, though I know I am undeserving of them.”
A sweet smile began to surface amidst your tears. Carefully bringing your face closer to his, you whispered against his lips, “You are my dearest heart, Ravus, as you have been and always will be. Nothing will change that.”
What lay ahead seemed bleak, what with Niflheim’s rise and the still unknown whereabouts of Lunafreya. But, as you remained glued to Ravus, your mouth locked with his in a passionate exchange, all you could do was melt into him and allow your feelings of love to come undone once and for all.
Come what may, you would remain by his side until the very end. What made it easier this time around was the knowledge that he would do the same for you.
At the end of the day, it was just as Lunafreya had told you all those years ago. You were his heart, just as he was yours.

[A continuation of this, because I am having a temporary low-energy existence right now I need more Ultimate Good Ending happy poly baes okay.  ...Also it just kind of kept going well past when I thought it would stop, so.  Here’s a thing.]
When the time comes to meet face to face, all manner of decorum and professionalism is tossed aside.  They forget themselves for a moment, because they’re happy.  Noctis and Lunafreya run to each other, childhood friends before titles, throwing their arms around the other because they’re free and their people with them, their kingdoms gradually being restored.  It’s something the press and the public seem to adore with all of the camera flashes going off, but those are easily ignored for that one little moment of triumphant personal celebration.
Finally attempting to behave like the Queen of Tenebrae and the King of Lucis, they step back just a little with quiet laughs and clasp hands.  Luna looks stunning in a long black with gold accents, and just a few steps behind her is Ravus.  He seems quite content to be the king in name alone, for the most part, allowing his sister to do as she’s always done and take the lead.  He’s happy to be happy, and there is not a thing Noctis would think to say against that.
A few steps behind Tenebrae royalty are Luna’s “stolen Glaives”, as Noctis likes to tease her; Nyx, Crowe and Libertus all smile in elegantly tasteful black and white, standing at a very loose sort of attention.  They all greet each other with head nods and smiles for the crowd, illuminated with flash bulbs from every angle; though it’s only Prompto’s camera that they all grin into at the same time.
The speech isn’t until that evening, so they all very primly and properly bow to the crowd and go to “rest” until then.  In reality, it’s just what Noctis hoped it would be; meeting up together in a private room with food and drinks and having the opportunity to smile and tease and laugh.  They’ve all been through a lot.  They’ve been through so much...
But it isn’t as though they ignore the citizens.  After all, that’s what they’re meeting for; a way forward, a way to help all those who still need it.  Not to mention--
It’s barely an hour later when Aranea arrives, mostly in secret.  She’d insisted, for the moment, having a great deal of actual information on how Niflheim wishes to rebuild and working out how best to give a hand without anyone else taking control.  Some things remain chaotic, though a large group of citizens have gotten together in an effort to organize, to take all of the precious steel that comprised military and Magitek facilities and use it to rebuild.  The people who remain, they need houses and lives, and--
Those innocent residents of Niflheim, many of whom themselves were once conquered by force, deserve to rebuild as much as Tenebrae and Lucis do.  While no one likes the idea of remaining silent for a time on the matter, Ignis and Ravus have both insisted that it’s best to remain quietly helpful while Niflheim works on developing its leadership first, then announce a desire for partnership.  A worldwide treaty.
And that, Noctis knows, might not do much more than make his people feel uneasy.  But with Tenebrae’s help, and Aranea’s insistence that things are going quite well considering, he’s certain his dream of uniting the world isn’t quite as silly as it once might have been.  Even as Aranea and Gladiolus bicker good-naturedly about how to handle security.
The former Commodore easily slips into the crowd unseen before the speech begins, watching and listening.  Utterly assured that these jagged pieces sharpened by war are finally slowly, gently sliding together.
And while propriety states that the world leaders ought to stand a respectful distance away from one another, Noctis and Luna decide to hell with propriety and hold hands as they make a formal declaration of solidarity and official peace, fair trade, and free travel between kingdoms.
There will be speculation the next day, of course.  All over the newspapers and the television broadcasts, and Ignis will probably gather everything up even if he isn’t consciously thinking about it to address in another speech, and yet another to continue to reassure the people--
It’s a lot.  It’s too much to think on, a lot of the time, and that night late into the evening Noctis sits out on the bedroom balcony, gazing out at the city he once took for granted, sleepless and restful at the same time.  Behind him, his beloveds have all more or less collapsed against one another, sleeping soundly, waiting.  He can hear a bit of riotous laughter from the partially open balcony door of the guest suite which has to be Ulric, then an almost scandalized admonishment of some kind.
Grinning to himself, Noctis knows it’s going to be worth the effort.  He will make it all worthwhile, won’t let anyone who died to bring this peace die in vain.  He’s going to finish what he’s started, what he’s promised, in his own way.
Then he sees what can only be a pair of navy blue boxer briefs being flung from the guest suite balcony, and a deeply offended gasp.  Covering his face with one hand, he slowly backs up into his room and is rather determined to pretend he saw nothing.

Sunshine in the Moonlight. Chapter 13: Sunshine
Fandom: Final Fantasy XV
Pairing: Prompto x Alexandria (OC)
Previous Chapter - Chapter Index - Next Chapter
Wattpad - AO3
Something I would have to grow accustomed still would be Prompto’s bounciness and fidgety nature. Especially when he was nervous or especially excited, as he demonstrated as we boarded the boat.
We sat together awkwardly, dying to snuggle closer to each other yet battling with ourselves. Should we tell the others and face the embarrassing moment that would proceed due to their comments and smugness on the subject? Or should we keep it a secret and only show our affections in private? In all honestly, I preferred the former option as it would be too insufferable to stay away from him once I finally was with him. I was willing to face the embarrassment, as it wouldn’t last long and after that we would be free to be more affectionate.
I sighed, knowing I was overthinking it. Love shouldn’t be hidden anyway.
“So did you two kiss?” Noctis was suddenly standing in front of us, arms crossed and smirk present.
“Noct!” Both Ignis and I exclaimed in outrage, shocked by his insolent remark.
“Prompto?” He still asked his friend, smiling wider and leaning forward to tease him. The blond flushed bright red and bowed his head down, flustered.
“Ma-maybe? Heh” I noticed how he sneakily met me with the corner of his eye.
“I knew it” Noctis triumphantly threw his arms up in the air. “I told you!”
I gawked at him, wondering if that was what they were ‘arguing’ about on the lighthouse. If Noctis convinced him to tell me and that was the reason why Prompto confessed.
Perhaps they weren’t teasing us because they believed us to be a good couple, but because they were aware of both our feelings and were evilly waiting for us to get together. Patiently watching things develop, amused at how long it was taking us.
“There’s no need to get all shy and stuff” Gladio smirked from his spot as he leaned on the side of the boat. “We were looking forward for you two to get it on, so don’t hold back”
Was family like this, always so obnoxious?
“You are quite the adorable pair” Ignis smiled softly, giving me a meaningful look.
“Iggy…” I complained, hating all that attention.
I glanced at Prompto and had to chuckle at the sight of him. His entire face covered in a bright rose blush as he stared at the ground and awkwardly shuffled his feet.
“What? Not even a kiss on the cheek?” Gladio was having too much fun with the whole situation.
To my surprise, Prompto looked up and stared adoringly at me. My eyebrows shot up in astonishment as he engulfed me in his arms and held me tight against him. I couldn’t even be mad at the adorable gesture, knowing he had been holding back for the entire time we were on the boat. Even if it was merely around ten minutes.
“Can you all stop it?” I was quite positive that I was blushing myself. “I love that Prompto and I are dating now, but you’re embarrassing me! All of you!”
Reluctantly obliging, they all got back to their business. Ignis stood up from the seat behind us to go chat with Gladiolus. Noct wandered around the boat and said something to Cid –as he was there with us, controlling the boat –every once in a while.
Even Prompto let go of me and jumped up to his feet. I couldn’t tell whether he was jittery still or just too happy to contain himself, I just observed him fondly as he fidgeted around the boat. His camera shutter kept clicking as he took pictures of the sea non-stop. By that point, that sound had turned almost as familiar to me as was his own voice.
I leaned back on the seat and closed my eyes, deeply inhaling as I took in the salty scent in the air. I had never traveled by boat –we didn’t get too many chances at it in Lucis –and it was quite a life changing experience.
Someone plopped down next to me all of a sudden, and I didn’t even have to open my eyes to know who it was. I did, however, in order to meet with his wonderful blue eyes.
“Wanna take a picture with me?” He asked me with the most dazzling smile he ever showed me.
“Of course” I scooted closer to him as he pulled out his camera.
He held it up before us and I prepared to smile as he took it. My plan was foiled, though, when I felt his lips on my cheek. As the picture was taken, I knew my face had been captured as one of sheer shock and bashfulness. He would definitely adore that result.
“Prom…!” I complained, turning to him and chuckling.
“S-Sorry! Couldn’t help myself”
My cheeks were starting to hurt, as apparently I couldn’t stop smiling. I blamed Prompto entirely.
Sneakily, Prompto planted another peck on my cheek before running away giggling to himself.
“Pro-Prompto!” I complained again, violently blushing and seething in silence.
He just looked over his shoulder with the most beautiful smile as he fidgeted around the boat, pulling his camera out and taking even more pictures of the extension of the sea that surrounded us.
“Excited to see Lunafreya, Noct?” Gladio asked our friend, who shrugged one shoulder.
“Yeah…” He pretended like he wasn’t eager to meet her again, yet the twinkle in his eyes and the smile that tugged at the corner of his lips said otherwise. “It’s been a while”
“She also carries the ring of the Lucii, which she has been keeping safe all this time” Ignis stated, dedicating him a teasing glance. “Just for you”
“Will… Ravus be there too?” Prompto mumbled, saving his camera and making eye contact with Ignis. “Y’know, since his sister will be and all”
“That’s right” I made a face of displeasure thinking about a possible encounter with Ravus Nox Fleuret. “He attacked you, and apparently he’s working for the Empire”
“That’s what I mean” Prompto nodded, plopping down next to me yet again.
“Let’s hope not” Gladiolus suddenly turned somber, which hinted at an especially troublesome clash during their meeting.
“I do suspect his new power was acquired through dark methods”
“And that Ardyn has something to do with it” His name wouldn’t leave my mouth without a hint of mockery, almost disgust. Yet he somewhat frightened me as well, merely because of his hidden agenda. He had followed us wherever we went and even pretended to be an ally at first. However, his purpose escaped my understanding, which greatly disturbed me. “What are we to do once in Altissia anyhow?”
I had spoken up again just to change the subject. An unpleasant chill went through my spine at the thought of the chancellor’s twisted mind. I wanted to avoid dwelling on that subject.
“Meet Lady Lunafreya, of course” Ignis responded, gesturing with one hand. “And possibly face the Leviathan”
“Can’t wait” Noctis muttered sarcastically, pouting a tad.
“Leviathan?”
“A deity like Titan, Noct’s gotta pass the trails”
Forcing me to take my eyes away from Gladio while he spoke to me so they would land on him instead, Prompto cheerfully lay his head down on my lap. When I stared at him, he frowned and his expression turned hesitant and cautious in fear that I was bothered by his broad desire of maintaining the physical contact. I comforted him by smiling a bit at him.
“Hi” Prompto grinned, looking up at me. I would definitely have to get used to his restlessness, that boy had never been so hyperactive. And I had seen him interact with chocobos.
“Hello” I rested a hand on his hair, too endeared by his precious affection.
“I can explain it to you if you want” He offered kindly. “Tell you all that happened, we’ve got time”
“That we do” Gladio chuckled, diverting his gaze towards the never ending ocean.
“Are you gonna stay like that, though?” Noctis pulled out his phone, smirking again. “Cause then I wanna take a picture”
“We had to go to three different runestones” Prompto deliberately ignored his friend, despite the fact that he jumped with the flash from Noctis’ phone camera.
“Quite an ordeal indeed” Ignis backed him up, albeit with an unnoticeable smile for the photo.
Prompto caught me up in the events that took place while I was in Hammerhead. For the rest of the boat ride, we lingered in that position as we discussed said occurrences, with the help of our friends’ additions and contributions to Prompto’s tale.
Altissia was beautiful beyond words, so elegant with its classy and organized streets as well as calming with the water that surrounded it all.
I felt euphoric as we walked around Altissia, following Noct while he wandered at will. I merely rejoiced in the warm sunlight that gently caressed my skin, in the salt in the air and the wonderful feeling of visiting such a unique place with my best friends, sharing such an incredibly experience.
“Wow, this place really is something!” Prompto voiced my thoughts as well.
“Truly delightful indeed” Ignis agreed, letting his emerald green eyes wander around the city landscape.
“Hey, I heard some people talk about Lunafreya’s wedding dress” Gladio pointed out.
“Ah, yes” Iggy smiled fondly. “The wedding, I nearly forgot about it”
I absently listened to the conversation, too fascinated by everything around me as I had never left Lucis before and Altissia was like a magical land before my eyes. The buildings, the shops, even the people seemed interesting!
“Should we check it out?” Prompto wondered excitedly. “Noct, wanna see the dress?”
“I guess…” The prince shrugged a bit, neutral to the idea.
“You seem shy, Prince Noctis” I needed to take advantage of the situation, as I noticed a hint of blush on his pale cheeks at the mention of the ceremony.
“Cut it out” He frowned as he lay his blue eyes on me.
“Bet he’s dying to see Lady Lunafreya!” Prompto nudged him, even if his friend softly pushed him away.
“He’s not especially engaged in the conversation” Ignis seemed very happy about his silly pun, and it definitely made Prom laugh.
I wondered how Noctis truly felt about Lady Lunafreya. Obviously, he deeply cared about her. They had been friends ever since they were little, when the royal father and son spent some time in her hometown Tenebrae. However, I couldn’t help but to think about what kind of love his heart portrayed. Did he merely love Lady Lunafreya like a sister? Or something more? Were his affections romantic or plainly fraternal? I never really knew, due to spending so much time away from the prince and being stuck in the Council room instead. Yet on those counted occasions that I did catch a glimpse of the two of them being together, I observed a great familiarity among them.
“Maybe you should call the wedding on again” Gladiolus teased him, although it wasn’t such an awful idea.
“Become the symbol of peace, a lovely couple as well” I grinned, although sweetly, glancing at Noctis. The corner of his lips curved up as he gently nudged his fist against my shoulder.
I honestly couldn’t picture Noctis as a groom, actually getting married! Yet the wedding represented a truce, an end to the war between Lucis and Niflheim. Something as beautiful and pure as it was a union between two loving souls was also a promise of peace.
As we walked, we could hear people commenting on the wedding, the dress, Noctis, Lady Lunafreya… It was certainly a common topic, one that brought them together.
We soon arrived to the Vivienne Westwood shop, there where Lady Lunafreya’s wedding dress was displayed for the citizens of Altissia to see.
“Wow” I uttered as we stopped to look at it through the window display.
It was completely white, so long that it reached the ground and with independent sleeves as it was strapless as well. Quite an original and unique dress which, added to Lunafreya’s own beauty, would be quite a sight.
“Everyone looks so happy!” Prompto was amazed by the crowd that gathered around it, filled with glee as they dreamt of such ceremony.
I looked over to Noct, intending to analyze his expression. There was a tiny smile plastered on his lips as he admired the dress with dreamy eyes.
“Surely, the wedding would be a blessing to the world” I squeezed his shoulder as I spoke.
Noctis glanced at me when I did and showed me an amused yet fond expression.
“I say we look to it as soon as we wrap things up” Gladio suggested, in a romantic mood I had never seen him into.
“Lovely idea”
“Yeah! That would be awesome!”
“Sounds good” Noct chuckled as he kept on walking, setting the path as we followed after him. I still admired the streets of Altissia as we did, not having enough of it.
Prompto let out a sigh of content next to me, suddenly taking me by the wrist and yanking me towards him so our sides touched as we walked. He was still a bit hyperactive, apparently.
“Prompto!” I exclaimed in surprise.
“We should like, go on a date or something!” After my reaction, he backed up a little. “You know, if you want? Be alone for a while? This place is so romantic!”
“You’re already on a date!” Noctis exclaimed cheerfully, and although it convinced Prompto, his smirk seemed suspicious to me.
“With all of us” Gladio motioned to the whole group with a movement of his arms.
“You are a lucky man” Ignis teased him as well.
I let out a heartfelt guffaw as I turned to Prompto, who was blushing, flustered by their playfulness.
“I was talking to Alex!”
“’Course you were”
“Whaddaya say, Xanders?” Prompto reminded me of a puppy again as he stared expectantly at me, excited and smiley. I took notice of the fact that said loving nickname popped up whenever he felt especially playful or mildly flirtatious, and I adored such a detail.
“I agree, but you need to calm down” I patted his shoulder kindly. He pouted at my comment, refusing to give up on that energized mood. I resolved to fondly wrinkle my nose at him, to which he grinned before turning to his friends.
“Do you guys mind? It won’t be long, I promise!” Like an actual child asking his parents for permission.
“How would we mind?” Noctis carelessly waved a hand in the air. “We’ve been waiting for you two to get together forever now!”
Prompto slapped his friend’s arm, bothered for such a cheeky comment.
“We will meet in this very spot in around thirty minutes” Ignis calmly glimpsed at his watch before locking eyes with me and then with Prompto.
“Don’t be late, lovebirds” Gladio gave us his blessing by pushing us a little so we would leave already.
“Won’t be!” Prompto began sprinting, forcing me to run after him not to lose him.
I briefly looked over my shoulder to our friends as they walked away from us. Only Noct was glancing back, and he gave me a thumbs up. It made me smile. However, when I looked ahead again I had lost track of Prompto. Such a fidgety boy. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had gotten distracted with something adorable like a puppy or something fun like ice cream. That boy was so precious.
“Prompto?” I called him, walking along to see where he could have gone to. I looked around in an attempt to spot his blond head or his black clothes, yet there was no trace of him anywhere. “Prompto! Prom-”
As I passed a corner, someone held me by the arm and pulled at it so I was cornered against the wall, a body pressed against mine to keep me in place.
“They don’t suspect a thing” There he was, being the huge goofball he always way. I observed him lovingly while he jokingly glanced around us to make sure we weren’t spotted. As tough we were on a secret date mission.
“They know, Prompto, we literally just told them we-“
“Sh!” He shoved an index finger against my lips and another against his own. “You’ll blow our cover!”
As his eyes met with mine, I shook my head and smiled at him. He chuckled happily and shyly averted his gaze due to the intensity of mine. I couldn’t help it, I adored that soft and pure boy so much.
His arms were at either sides of me, hands leaning on the wall behind me as he had softly pushed me into it until my back leaned on it. However, when he realized his posture and his body pressed against mine, he gently distanced himself and let his arms fall back to his sides not to be cornering me. Knowing he was too timid to do something himself and taking advantage that we were alone, I positioned my hands on his face and pulled him towards me, aiming his lips closer to mine.
My eyes closed in delight as we shared a chaste and sweet kiss, loving and gentle. The butterflies I had almost forgotten about erupted in my stomach once more, pulling at my lips again until they curved up in the kiss. I noticed that his hands settled on my hips for a moment, tenderly squeezing as they passionately tried to gather as much of me as they could. However, he let go of me as we gently broke the kiss.
Curiously, I observed him as he pushed a tuft of blond hair away from his eyes and clumsily combed his hair with both hands. His cheeks were flushed so bright that his freckles stood out.
“Alex, If I… I don’t wanna overdo it and… if you ever get annoyed of me being too affectionate or something, I, uh… heh” Prompto tiredly rolled his eyes, almost to himself. “I just… like you a lot and I want to be holding you all the time and-“
“Prom, don’t be silly” I took him by the chin, quick to reassure him. “I’ve wanted to be held by you for a long time, I’m not going to grow fed up of it”
“Really? You too?” His eyes met mine, shining with an eager twinkle. “Ever since I met you, I…”
I remembered our first encounter, right before we left the Crown City. The puppy look on his face, the doe eyes and awed expression, his azure eyes watching me lively. The way in which he was looking at me at the moment was similar, albeit filled with admiration and adoration instead of curiosity.
I understood why I fell for Prompto, but him? We were quite different and my insecurities reminded me that girls like Cindy were so much more alike him. I focused not to read too into it as to not discourage myself with silly and self-conscious thoughts.
Prompto had mentioned several times how I was kind, smart, pretty and wise, sweet as well as some other things. And he genuine believed I was all of those things. It was good enough for me, yet… How did we fall for each other? How did two people so different end up together?
He was bright and warm like the sun, soft, energetic and bubbly. I was somber, stubborn and dull like the moon, often too serious and bland in contrast with him.
Yet Prompto got under my skin with his bright smile and his cute and upbeat personality, with his radiant presence and light of his own. He seemed to be the one to shine the brightest and cast his light upon us during the darkest times. Like the sunshine in the moonlight, like the light that overpowered the darkness, not only for me but for everyone else. Like the sunlight to my moonlight, like the yin to my yang.
I chuckled to myself, amazed by the effect he had on me yet again. I had never been one for romance, yet as soon as he appeared I was struck with all those feelings and emotions and corny ideas.
“What?” He whispered, his mouth still so close to mine that we breathed the same air.
“Nothing” I answered with a smile. “Just surprised that you fell for me on sight, sunshine”
Prompto chuckled heartedly to divert the attention from his blushing.
“Sunshine? Never heard that one before!” His grin was so wide that his eyes closed a little.
“Get used to it” I snuck my arms under his vest to feel his lean figure, and wrapped them around him.
“Great! I love the nickname, heh!” Energetically and eagerly, his arms settled around me too. That was what absolute happiness must feel like. Embracing and being held by the person you love, by your sunshine. A feeling unlike any other.
I pushed my cheek against his collarbone and sighed in content, overwhelmed by a feeling of peace and adoration that made me whole. As we pulled apart at the same time, I briefly pecked him on the lips and held him by the hand to take him with me.
“Shall we venture around Altissia?”
“Heck yeah!” Sweetly intertwining his fingers with mine as our palms were pressed against the other, he began running, taking me with him.
The thirty minutes were due, so we were headed for the spot close to the Vivienne Westwood shop as we had promised our friends. So little time, but we had savored every second of it. Prompto and I had spent a wonderful time, taking pictures and chatting, glancing at whatever products shops sold and buying a few things for each other –although all we bought was matching leather bracelets that Prompto was very excited about and that we put on immediately–and even buying some ice cream.
We walked side by side as we enjoyed the last of our ice cream, sharing a comfortable silence. I didn’t grow tired of being with him, it felt so calming and exciting, so cozy and comfortable. His presence was intoxicating enough not to feel pressured to fill the silence with mindless prattle.
“Can you hold this?” He mumbled out of nowhere, breaking the stillness of the moment.
“Of course” I held my hand up, prepared to take whatever he would give me, guessing it was either his camera or his ice cream. I was astonished when instead, Prompto rested his hand over mine and firmly grasped it. Yet when I tried to meet with his eyes, he shyly looked away.
My lips curved up in fond amusement and I had to lean closer to leave the lightest peck on his cheek. He cutely wrinkled his nose in response to my affection.
“Looks like you two had fun” Gladio’s voice surprised us as we met with them three again.
Grinning widely at the sight of our friends, Prompto hurriedly reciprocated my peck with another one before shoving the remnants of the cone in his mouth and walking over to Noctis.
“Noct!” The blond nudged him repeatedly as he pulled his camera out, without a doubt to show him the pictures we took. I only realized I was lovingly watching him being the adorable and bright goofball he always was when a tattooed arm heavily fell over my shoulders and mischievously shook me.
“Had fun, Alex?” I concealed my smile as soon as his smug voice asked.
“So what if I did?” I shrugged to appear nonchalant and casual.
“Nothing” Gladio insisted. “Not that you’re turning red or anything”
“It is quite endearing that you’re so fond of him” Ignis smiled a bit too, obviously glad that I had found something special in my relationship with Prompto.
I stopped hiding my smile and glanced over to the blond as he eagerly narrated Noct the lovely time we had together. Watching him being excited like a child was adorable, especially if it was due to interacting with me. He swung his arms around as he came over and stood next to me. Noctis followed with an amused and badly covered smirk.
Seeking Prompto’s affection, I flirtatiously leaned over him until he chuckled and eagerly wrapped an arm around my waist, which he used to pull me closer so our sides were touching.
“It’s so weird seeing you being so corny” Noctis pointed out, looking from me to Prompto.
“I’m not corny!” I objected, almost outraged.
“Why would you appear so flustered and embarrassed otherwise?” Ignis remarked wittily.
“Besides” I pretended like I did not hear him. “What about Prompto?”
The aforesaid was beaming, he was completely over the moon.
“Are we talking about the same person here?” Gladio acknowledged the boy’s broadness about his crushes. For the most part.
“Corny and proud” Prompto chuckled happily, nodding towards him.
“That is the voice of a true romantic” Ignis commented, whether jokingly or not I couldn’t truly tell.
The five of us indulged in some more free time while we rejoiced in the beautiful scene around us and the cheerful mood that settled in the group.
After reuniting with our friends and visiting Weskham –an old friend of King Regis –and being introduced to Camelia Claustra –first secretary of the Accordo Protectorate, as Ignis reminded us –we decided to carry on with our wandering around Altissia and jumped right on to a gondola that would take us to the Leville, where we would rest for the big day tomorrow. The day of the rite.
My hand grazed the water as I let it fall limply to the side of the gondola while we traveled to the hotel. I felt fortunate, blessed by experiencing such soothing beauty with my four best friends, one of which happened to be my boyfriend as well.
I was quiet, silently enjoying the moment as well as resting. It had been a busy day, and surely my wounds were yet in the progress of healing and hindering my energies.
Absently glimpsing at my friends, I took notice that Ignis was observing me fondly from his seat in front of me. Surely, he liked seeing me in such a serene and reflexive state. I smiled at him and he smiled back.
Prompto and I sat alone in the widest bench, so I rested my head on his shoulder and linked my arm with his. That ride was so romantic and so perfect!
“You okay over there?” Gladio, who sat at the edge of the gondola to my left, bumped his knee against mine. “You look sleepy”
“I’ll let you on a little secret” Ignis smirked a tad, which I knew wasn’t a good sign. “Alexandria gets extremely affectionate when she’s feeling tired or unwell”
Surely, I was tired and my feet throbbed from so much walking. Yet I wasn’t affectionate because I was drowsy or unwell, but because I was happy and loved Prompto!
“I’m sitting right here, Ignis” I reprimanded him, also sending him a glare.
“And when she’s scared” Prompto chuckled, nudging me softly. “Remember the chocobos?”
“Quite the contrary” Iggy responded, always amused by this demeanor of mine. “If too much attention is gathered on her she can get quite feisty when she’s frightened”
“She’s a proud one” Gladiolus joined in the fun.
“Always so snooty” And so did Noctis, I should have known.
“And she’s right here” I closed my eyes and ignored them. “Stop talking about me!”
I heard Prompto giggling as his fingers brushed against my sides in a kind gesture, gingerly enough not to tickle me. Even though he knew he had the power to do so and would surely save the valuable piece of information for a useful purpose and a convenient moment.
As usual, my drowsy state sunk me into a reflective mood. Yet this time it implied a rush of reality and I was randomly reminded that although I was spending a lovely time with my friends and new boyfriend, we weren’t on Altissia for vacation. We had a mission: Reunite with Lady Lunafreya so as an Oracle she would awaken the Leviathan and the Goddess would grant a blessing upon Noctis as the Chosen King. It was quite complicated, and truly of great importance. It reminded me the weight of our journey, of my role as Noct’s companion and my duty to protect him in order to carry on the prophecy that he needed to fulfill.
Such reminder broke my spirits a bit, but I held on to Prompto tighter. Perhaps ours was a perilous journey, and perhaps we needed to endure suffering such as the one we carried with ourselves after King Regis’ death. Yet we would still have each other.
The next day we met with Camelia and promised her to keep her citizens safe in a mutual agreement so Noctis and Lady Lunafreya could awaken Leviathan.
I must admit, I was quite impressed by Noctis’ politic skills as he spoke with her as a king. He had shown incredible strength and diplomacy, addressing the subject truly professionally and almost appearing to be a king in that unique Noct way of his.
When the moment of the rite arrived, however, I felt anxious and jittery as I remained by my three friend’s side. A big task was assigned to us, people’s safety was a stake and it was a great responsibility. In protecting the king and ensuring his success we also contributed to bringing back the light to the world as it was slowly fading and succumbing to darkness very slowly.
Also, I couldn’t take them off my mind. The fact that the Oracle Lunafreya needed to summon the Covenant and that Noctis needed to obtain the Hydraean’s blessing. I hoped everything went well.
I kept gulping, because my throat felt extremely dry. Although I had worked hard to improve, I still wasn’t a Crownsguard and I wasn’t prepared like they were.
“There is no need to worry, Alexandria” Ignis saw through my apparent tranquil exterior and noticed the signs that made clear that I was nervous. “Stay calm, you appear to be tense”
“I can’t help it” My voice came out as low and trembling in spite of myself.
“We’re just evacuating people for now” Gladio gently elbowed me in the ribs. “Don’t sweat it”
I glanced at the marching people with absent eyes, trying to occupy myself with something trivial in an attempt to trick my mind into not thinking about it.
“Yeah, no biggie” Prompto also felt the need to dedicate me some words of encouragement as well. “We’ve got this, Xanders!”
“This isn’t only about us, Prom” I turned to him and bit my lip in anxiety. “I’m concerned for Lady Lunafreya as well as Noct, the Covenant with the Hydraean is of great importance”
“You must have faith in Noct” Ignis almost reprimanded me, eyeing me warily.
“And I do, of course I do!”
“Then what’s the problem, Alex?”
“I… don’t know…”
“A bad feeling, perhaps?”
“Not really, I merely…”
“Don’t try to be logical, you’re just freaking out” Gladio added with a shrug. “It happens”
“I see” Ignis nodded to himself, averting his eyes to the crowd as he confirmed that the last of the citizens left Altissia. “It’s completely understandable, Alexandria, we won’t think less of you”
After all, it was the first true time I faced a situation as such. At least, outside the Council room. Unlike then, I was there to see everything develop for myself. I was in on the action.
“To be honest…” Prompto began to say shyly. “I’m kinda nervous too”
“You two are made for each other” Gladio playfully placed an arm over me and the other one over my boyfriend, hugging us both at the same time. I wondered whether it was the desired effect, yet such gesture brought a small smile to my face. If we were to ignore the sudden burning feeling in my cheeks.
“Gladio!” Ignis warned us, his eyes fixed on the sky above us. Noticing the alarm in his tone, the big man immediately let go of us. Upon following Iggy’s glance, we found with aerial imperial ships that were starting to surround us. The four of us complained under our breaths as we conjured our weapons, anticipating the battle.
“Is that all of the people?” Prompto confirmed, checking all around him to assure that all the citizens of Altissia had already left.
“I believe so!” Ignis responded, even if his green eyes wouldn’t leave the imperial ships.
“Go!” Gladio commanded as he started running once the evacuation was completed.
“Let’s hope Noct and Lady Lunafreya are doing alright” Prompto uttered as he sighed and followed him.
Ignis and I nodded to each other, in an understanding glance. Then we motioned to go with them, although Prompto and Gladio extended their arms before us protectively.
“Wow!” The blond exclaimed, taken aback by the small army of MTs that fell before us. I knew Altissia was somewhat under imperial domain, yet it angered me greatly to encounter them again. I hated those things.
“Damn MTs!” I screamed, summoning my handgun and pointing at one of them.
“Bring it on” Gladio defied them, materializing his huge sword while Prompto wielded his weapon as well.
“Stand back!” Ignis and I warned, involuntarily at the same time.
The MagiTek troopers were too close to our friends, so they urgently traced back their steps. Meanwhile, we backed them up. Mainly I, as Ignis didn’t have a long distance weapon like me. Prompto yelped when a bullet passed close to him, only to land in the MTs helmet.
“Nice shot, Xanders!” He congratulated me once over the initial shock. “That’s my girl!”
“Prompto, focus!” Gladio shouted at him.
“Yes, sir!”
“Be alert!”
At least I felt more confident with my fighting abilities at that point, as though I could truly help them and be a useful backup in case they were in trouble.
The four of us battled separately, each to his own. Gladio smacked his sword against the troopers with his brutal force, Ignis nimbly parried and Prompto shot and jumped around. I myself switched from handgun to sword quickly, as I had mastered during my time in Hammerhead, and efficiently took the MTs down.
As we fought, it started heavily pouring with rain. A very loud sound overcame us as well, causing us to briefly look in that direction.
The Leviathan. Lady Lunafreya had awaken it and also upset the Goddess somehow as well, for it stood majestically in all its glory, nearly shadowing the sun behind it with its splendorous size.
I realized then, it wasn’t rain which was falling over us. It was tiny drops coming from the sea that splashed all around due to the Hydraean’s awakening.
“That’s not good” Prompto whispered, barely audible under the gunfire noise.
“We must help Noct!” Ignis shouted to make himself audible over the racket surrounding us.
“He needs to get to the Leviathan!” Gladio agreed, his amber eyes still vigilant of the Goddess.
“On my way!” Prompto volunteered without giving it a second thought.
Just as our glances were directed towards the Leviathan, a ship sneakily approached us until it nearly landed. It opened to reveal Ravus Nox Fleuret, standing there elegant and silent.
“You’re gonna need help” His voice uttered emotionlessly. I frowned, observing the man before us. The man that had sided with the empire and was under the orders of Ardyn Izunia.
“Why would you want to help us?” I piped up, remembering how Ravus had attacked my friends while I was away.
His silence was suspicious, making me wonder what hidden reasons he might have. Should I believe his intentions were good? He was Lady Lunafreya’s brother, after all.
“You must go at once” Ignis commanded, grave and stern. “Noct needs us”
By the way he was looking at us, I knew he referred to both Prompto and I.
“But how?!” Prompto motioned in the Hydraean’s direction. “I can’t fly him up there!”
At his command, two MT troopers exited the ship, carrying some sort of motorized flying vehicle that somewhat resembled a motorcycle, albeit it had no wheels.
“That should suffice” Ravus took it from the MTs and handed it over to Prompto.
“Ha!” He guffawed, observing the big heavy object in his hands. “Awesome, this is perfect!”
“Wait, you’re going?” I held him back by his vest when he was about to leave, anxious about letting him go. If he left my side, I had no chance of backing him up.
“I gotta go!” Trying to loosen my grip on the garment, he turned around. “Noct needs us!”
”Prom, wait” I pleaded worriedly, not minding that we weren’t alone. I took him by the shirt instead and pulled him toward me, needing him closer to seek any sort of comfort. When our lips collided it felt familiar, it felt right. I managed to catch some air at last.
Yet when we broke away the world fell on my shoulders again. As soon as my lips left his, I was reminded of the horrible reality that surrounded us. Of the Leviathan and the darkness and the possibility that it could be our last battle against the Empire. I might not see them again. Maybe I would die, maybe Prompto would. Maybe all of us would. It was a far too painful thought. I was too unfamiliar with the violence of an actual and serious battle.
I frowned, trying to convey my emotions by putting them into words.
“I…” Was all I managed to say, my pride not allowing me to confess. Even if I truly didn’t know what I wanted to say. “I just…”
Perhaps ‘take care’ was the best option. Perhaps I wanted to tell him to come back to us in one piece, to fight his hardest to survive. Or I just wanted to let him know how much I loved him, or how scared I was. How much I longed for everything to be over and things to be okay and back to normal.
Prompto just nodded, definitely knowing me enough to realize all of my thoughts. He dedicated me a sad smile that was shadowed by his usual genuine and bubbly ones.
“You too” He said in response to my silence. That said, he began to walk away.
“Prompto!” I called him, louder than needed. But he did turn around, expecting an answer. “Be careful!!”
There came one of his bright smiles that made me feel like everything would be alright even when I knew it wouldn’t. Even in the middle of such situation, it was the sunshine during the storm, quite literally. And then he was gone.
Damn it, why did I listen to him? Not only was I busy ending the last of the MagiTek troopers that came my way, but also enduring a gnawing feeling of dismay.
I blamed Gladio for throwing me over his shoulder and carrying me away from Ignis, leaving him alone with Ravus. I knew how greatly capable Ignis was, but I still didn’t trust Lord Nox Fleuret, not to mention to leave him alone with my best friend. On top of all, I was left alone again when Gladio ran off to look for Prompto as he was taking too long to come back. All he had to do was carry Noct close to the Hydraean and drop him off.
Once I dealt with a new wave of MT soldiers that had attacked me yet again, I stormed off in the direction where Gladio disappeared from. Hopefully I would reunite with him, Noctis and Prompto. However, I stopped when a feeling of emptiness took over me. Something was definitely wrong. Ignis. Prompto. Gladio. Noctis. Lunafreya. One of them was in trouble. Perhaps them all.
Hesitating in the spot where I was stuck in, I glanced back to where Ignis and Ravus fought the MTs –that, ironically the imperial man was fighting back –and where Gladio and Prompto were supposed to be at.
“Hey!” A familiar voice called me, bringing me great relief with just his presence.
“Prom!” I turned around and ran to engulf him in a tight and desperate embrace.
“You okay?” His hand rested in my side as he immediately broke the hug.
“Yes” My smile dropped instantly when I looked at him.
“No worries, I am too” Mistaking my reaction, the blond showed me a reassuring grin as he shrugged casually.
It wasn’t because I was concerned about him, which was also part of the problem. Yet I immediately noticed there was something off about Prom, although I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. There was something about his voice, his tone, the cadence of it. Despite the fact that it was his voice, it didn’t quite sound like Prompto, how was that possible?
“What’s wrong, Alexandria?” That was the first definite proof that backed up my suspicion. Prompto never called me Alexandria anymore. Ever, only Alex!
I shook my head, blaming my restlessness to the frantic and hectic events that were taking place and must have been messing with my head. It probably slipped as he was too preoccupied with bigger matters.
“Nothing, I’m just glad you’re alright” I nodded, forcing myself to smile at him.
“Me too” He smiled too, yet… it wasn’t as genuine or bright as usual. Even forced, it felt unauthentic. Surely, the harrowing battle was affecting him as well. All the fire and destruction that surrounded us, the noise of explosions and war.
“Wait, where are Ignis and Gladio?” He looked around him to the empty streets of Altissia. “And Noct?”
“I don’t know where Noct is after you dropped him off, but the others are-” I admitted, pointing my thumb over my shoulder.
“Wait, what are you doing here alone?” He rudely interrupted me, something that he didn’t usually do.
“Ignis and Gladio insisted that I should go find you and leave them” My confidence started to shatter because of his judgmental tone. “You... you know how protective Ignis is, and Gladio basically…”
“Wait, so…” Prompto’s brows furrowed in astonishment. “You… actually left them alone?”
“Well, they…”
“What about sticking together? You chickened out!”
He was raising his voice, what was going on! Prompto wouldn’t yell at me… Was he really that angry at me? Mad enough to actually shout like that?
“I… didn’t!” I managed to retaliate, although perplexed. “Ignis-“
“I’m… disappointed in you” Prompto shook his head, looking me haughtily. “I thought you were better than that!”
I suddenly felt out of breath, afraid that my deepest fears came to life. What if he didn’t like me anymore because of it? I had disappointed him, and hearing him say it so openly broke my heart, it caused me physical pain in my chest as well as emotional ache as he threw my own insecurities in my face.
“What is wrong with you?!” Prompto’s hands slapped against my shoulders and shook me angrily.
It was unusual in him, yet the situation called for it. We were exhausted, concerned, filled with adrenaline and frenzy. However, that didn’t soften the impact of his words and actions. They still discouraged me and hurt me deeply.
“You’re-you’re right…” That was the worst part, I couldn’t quite blame it on him. I had been a coward when obeying Ignis’ orders. I should have stood by his side no matter what, even against his wishes. To protect him, to help him.
Feeling overwhelmed and extremely sensitive, tears started building up in my eyes. At least they would blend in with the raindrops that wet my cheeks if they were to be shed.
Just then, an explosion of fire erupted behind us. It illuminated the streets around us with a violent orange glow that gave me goosebumps. Even though I tried to convince myself that the fire came from Ignis himself conjuring it and hoping they were safe, the attempted thought didn’t quite ease my restlessness.
“Ignis!” Urgently, I turned back round to face Prompto. “We must go help him!”
Refusing to let fright control me again, I was determined to go on to his aid.
“We can’t!” Prompto’s fingers closed around my wrist, firm like an iron clutch. “It’s too dangerous!”
I paused, analyzing his eyes as I found a surprising amount of emptiness in them when they looked back at me. Devoid from all those emotions that he conveyed when looking at me. Fondness, joy, shyness, playfulness, vitality, softness. There was no trace of none of them.
He was contradicting himself as well. Before he was ashamed of me for not helping.
“Prompto…” I started, cautiously stepping away from him and freeing myself from his strong grip. “Since when you do care if it’s dangerous? Those are our friends we’re talking about!”
Perhaps Prompto could get scared more easily than others, yet that never stopped him. His friendship and loyalty were always more important, or else he wouldn’t have come with us and lingered in our company even through the dungeons. Even when facing his phobias and fears, he never left. His friends next to him made him brave.
The definite clue was the smirk that plastered on his lips next. It wasn’t soft like him, it wasn’t goofy or pure or tender. It was arrogant and scornful. And I had seen it before. I just couldn’t remember where. However, I was positive of something. No one could replace the real Prompto Argentum.
“You’re not Prompto” I sternly told him, defiantly staring at the copy of him.
I turned around, trying to catch a glimpse of where my friends were at. Perhaps the real Prompto was there, helping Ignis and Gladio. For the time being, I was not to remain there. I would go help my friends and forsake whoever that fake Prompto was.
“Oh, dear…” Behind me, I didn’t hear Prompto’s voice. “I have been discovered… It seems I’m not as good an actor as I believed myself to be”
My heart violently thumped against my chest when I realized who that voice belonged to. A gasp got caught in my throat with the deepest of terrors as I frantically turned around to meet face to face with Ardyn Izunia.
“Such a pity, isn’t it?” He spoke with sarcasm and condescendence. “If only you hadn’t seen through my brilliant disguise”
“Ardyn, you…” I began to say, prepared to vent with as many insults to his persona as I’d like. However, my eyes widened in panic with the realization that I wasn’t the victim to his games. I was merely a distraction, and he was a bait I stupidly took.
My friends were in danger, and I was there talking to a fake Prompto. Being held back, rendering me useless so I couldn’t help them.
“Gladio! Ignis!” I shouted weakly, nearly hyperventilating as I turned to where the commotion originated from. “Prom-“
A heavy painful blow came to the back of my head. Turning my back to him wasn’t the wisest idea. I heard his foul laughter as I fell limply to the ground, complete darkness engulfing my world.

How the nilfeinghing boys (Ravus/Ardyn/Loqi) be in relationship with an chubby S/O? I'm super excited with that new imagine blog you headcanos are great!!
Okay, I just gotta say before I start with the headcanons—I have a thing for short, bratty fictional men. And Loqi is the epitome of that. But I can’t find any Loqi headcanons at all…WHY?? I have a feeling its because the tumblr tags are just absolute shit but if anyone has found anything with Loqi in it please share it with me. I am desperate.
I also have to apologise because you’ve waited so long for this, and I don’t have that many headcanons regarding this. I also didn’t stay that faithful to your request, mainly because I believe that the three men you mentioned wouldn’t act any differently with a chubbier S/O. So I decided to do how they’d act/react if the chubbier S/O was insecure at times. (I also left out Ardyn, because I’m not confident enough to write for him. I just…can’t get into his head at all).
Anyway, here are the headcanons! Sorry you’ve waited for like…years. I’ll stop my rambling for now. Thank you for sending in a request ♥
SFW and semi-NSFW under the cut!
LOQI:
If he gets the feeling that you’re insecure over your appearance, the boy will be dramatic.
“Why would I be with you if I didn’t absolutely adore everything about you? The Brigadier General doesn’t settle.”
And no, that fancy accent doesn’t disappear. He always talks with it no matter the situation. You have no idea if he’s putting it on or not, but honestly, it’s kind of hot—in a weird, posh kind of way.
He’s insecure about his height (he’ll never outright say that, though) so he can relate to you, and empathise with how you’re feeling. He gets it. He can tell what everyone’s thinking of him when they see him for the first time—always wondering how the hell this short kid ever achieved such a high rank. After a while, he’s learnt that even though it still annoys him to this day, it doesn’t really matter what people think of appearances.
And also, his body isn’t the most…ideal, either. He’s in-shape, of course, he has to be—he’s the Brigadier General of the Niflheim army—but it’s not at all like some of the other men in the army, who are pretty buff. There’s not that much definition, and his thighs are kinda pudgy (thicc, Loqi, it’s called THICC).
He really does care about how you feel though, and he wants you to feel like a damn queen. You’re dating the Loqi Tummelt, after all, and you deserve to feel fucking beautiful.
Will compliment you more often, especially the places he knows you’re insecure about the most. Sometimes it’s subtle, other times its very straightforward.
Excluding all of the dramatics, and brattiness that is Loqi, he’s actually quite a sweet boy a lot of the time. Always a bit shy around you and he has the goofiest and sweetest smile that he can’t hide whenever you look at him for more than ten seconds long.
That sweetness and shyness makes an appearance in the bedroom, too. He’s into body worship. Will kiss absolutely every inch of skin on your body and tell you how fucking amazing you look and feel. But that’s mostly during foreplay. He ain’t that gentle and cute during the actual intercourse.
Just the way Loqi looks at you, though, is enough to silence all doubts and insecurities. There’s something in his stare that makes butterflies form at the pit of your stomach. He has those cute big ol’ puppy eyes whenever he sees you.
RAVUS:
Absolutely in shock the day he finds you scrutinising yourself in the mirror
“You’re talking nonsense. How is somebody like you insecure? Am I doing something wrong, my dear? Have I not shown you enough love?”
Don’t worry, it might sound a bit condescending, but he truly means what he says. He thinks that he’s directly responsible for how you see yourself and doesn’t really understand that sometimes, people just feel insecure, there’s really no reason behind it.
Once you reassure him that yes, he’s shown you more than enough love, he’ll calm down. But he’ll still want to make you feel good about yourself. It depends on how long you’ve been in a relationship for, but the longer you’ve been together, the more touchy-feely he’ll be.
If he senses you’re feeling a bit down, he won’t hesitate to caress your cheek with his hand, or come up from behind you and snake his arms around your waist.
Lots and lots of hushed words of praise and affection. Will always compliment you—his most used word is “ravishing”.
An absolute gentleman, always—and a bit of a poet—so expect him to use a lot of symbolism, metaphors, analogies, etc. Expect to feel like a walking masterpiece whenever he takes the time out of his day to compliment and appreciate you, because you will.
Like Loqi, he can relate to feeling a bit insecure about yourself, since he’s lost his arm and has it replaced with a magitek prosthetic arm. It gets to him sometimes, especially because he’s so cautious around you whenever you’re close to his magitek prosthetic.

This was supposed to be a snippet, @voxiferous! What the hell happened to my brain! I am so sorry! (And if you’re okay with this I’ll post it to AO3 later?) (Also yes, that’s the song for today, from me)
Credits: Lisa Macuja in La Bayadere // Cross My Heart by DAY-BREAK
ninemoons42 writes: cry havoc and kick up your heels
Spring, coil, flex, and he literally hears the words in Ignis’s voice and he can’t be mad, can’t fault the other man, because the words really do help, but -- maybe not when he suddenly switches back from the kind of thinking that lives in his bones and nerves and pure skin-knowledge to the kind of thinking that lives mostly in his mind, and that not always attached to the rest of him: he’s coming down, he’s falling fast, the high evaporates, and he hits the floor on flexed feet and bent knees and -- he growls, and says, “Stop playback,” and the music in the room cuts off on the voice command.
Fuck’s sakes, Noctis Lucis Caelum thinks, and very carefully keeps his gaze locked on his turned-out feet. It’s just a delay. It’s just a small setback, all things considered. It’s a damned accident, and nothing more. The world will keep, and he’ll keep going. It’s bad fucking luck. Ravus Nox Fleuret will make a full recovery in two months. Things will get back on track.
So now Noctis can’t dance and now Noctis can’t concentrate, either, not long enough to hang on to the same damned warmup routine he’s been following for the past year.
Beneath his feet the wooden planking creaks gently, softly, almost reassuringly. Dark-gray knots and burls in fine-planed honey-colored wood, the grain still mostly free of the little cracks and craters left behind by too many practicing feet, too many hard landings.
He sits, hard, and curls up into a small tight knot of misery and muscle, and in the process he catches sight of himself in the three mirrored walls and he sees a small boy, a miserable boy, hunched over and trying not to cry, reflected and reflected again. Infinity of images, his own childhood instead of who and what he is now, every other step like distilled agony as he learned to get back on his feet, and this is bad, if he’s flashing back to that part of his life when he’s here in a safe space.
Maybe Luna is right, after all, and he has to stop dancing for a few days.
He certainly isn’t going to do himself any favors, if he winds up injuring himself through careless practice, and then he’ll go down as Ravus did and for the same damned reasons, and he might as well forget about doing the show completely, and that will be six years of groundwork and heartbreak and joy and pain and truths with teeth in them, all gone, all gone forever, worse for having missed its moment.
He sobs, once, and tells himself he’s okay.
Thump, from somewhere nearby.
Thump. Thump. Again and again and again.
He leans into the sound, grateful, trying to figure out what it is, and the synapses in his mind fire and fire again, filtering, and -- definitely a human body, he thinks, someone is definitely moving around and making those sounds. Resilient, for the most part, except when there’s a harder or a softer sound and, and. It sounds like being out of practice, and Noctis hides his smile in his knees and his crossed arms, his smile and his sympathy, because: whoever is making those sounds is expressing exactly how he feels right now, and he’s grateful.
Grateful enough that he realizes he’s being rude, using someone else’s dancing practice to sort his own tangled knots of feeling out, and that person entirely unknowing, therefore being used.
Noctis has been used too many times in his life -- short as that life is and has been -- and he’s not going to keep on using this person.
He’s going to get up and thank them, now.
And he glances at himself in the mirror, and there’s nothing to be done for the sweat and the spikes in his hair, the remnants of an outbreak of zits below his right ear, the gnarled knots in his hands, the ruin of his feet with the callouses and the too-visible veins.
Soft bedroom slippers on, fuzzy fur lining and houndstooth check, and he wraps the dark green fleece blanket that he carries around with him everywhere around his shoulders. Damned drafty dance studios anyway. Out the door of his practice room, and he closes one eye, follows the thumps as they peter off and --
There’s the only open door, halfway down the corridor. No one is mad enough to come to this place on the outskirts of the city at some ungodly hour just past sunrise, and he’s only here himself because he’d gotten out of his bed and the clutch of the nightmares and he’d refused to go back to sleep, and he has keys to this place and he knows the owner, because that owner is named Ignis Scientia.
He’s actually half-expecting Ignis himself to be at the barre. Wouldn’t put it past him.
But he steps into the open doorway and -- that’s not Ignis, not even by any stretch of the imagination.
For one thing, it’s been years since Ignis hung up his pointe shoes.
For another, Ignis doesn’t wear his glasses when he practices.
The guy in the room is dressed in such a strange clash of everything that Noctis almost forgets to breathe, cataloging.
Splash of red-green-black-yellow in the unbuttoned plaid shirt over white dancing clothes, but the thing that catches Noctis’s attention is the clean line of the man’s body, as he breathes and balances and lifts himself, all his weight on one leg and then he carefully rises on to his toes, so he would actually be addressing the door and the people watching near it, if he were looking up.
Noctis watches him straighten his knees and shoulders, and flick out the hand he’s holding over his head, so the fingers fan out into a sort of winged shape. His other hand he holds just at the level of his own eyes, and he flicks that, too, fingers splayed out.
Steady, steady, one foot on the ground, and the one in the air moves, hair’s-breadths, up and up and the man bends a little at the hip to accommodate that rise, to stay gracefully balanced, till that leg in the air is straight out and the top of his foot is turned completely in Noctis’s direction.
Irrationally Noctis thinks of the impossibly petite maestra he’d only met once, at fortysomething only thinking of going into retirement, and still able to wring joyful tears from her adoring audiences -- Kitri had been one of her signature roles, one she’d recently and tearfully had to leave behind, and the man in the practice room has almost got the right tilt in his head to be playing that tragic role, if only it hadn’t been for the clench in his jaw line, and the heavy frames of his eyeglasses.
But as if the man had been reading his thoughts: the man wobbles, and his nose scrunches up, and he suddenly sneezes -- the sound echoes in the practice room, and the man groans, laughs, falls easily out of his pose. “Fucking,” the man begins, with a soft snort.
And his eyes come up.
Noctis is treated to a bright blue-eyed stare that the glasses can’t hope at all to contain, and a red flush appearing all at once in freckled cheeks and -- shoulders, of all the things.
But those eyes sweep up and down and he’s not ashamed of his blanket or his slippers and -- the man laughs, bending back a little over his feet in fifth position. “Nice outfit.”
Hearty and sweet and not unkind at all.
“Same to you,” Noctis says, and allows himself a grin. “With that plaid and all.”
“It keeps me warm. I’m cold all the time.” That flush surges again. “You watching long? You gonna tell me something’s wrong with, I dunno, my knees or my shoulders?”
He’s smiling, but his shoulders are coming up, moving up, and Noctis holds his hands up, palms facing out. “Critique is not what I came here for. Who wants to do that at fuck o’clock in the morning anyway? I came here because I wanted to -- thank you.”
Blink. Blink.
Those blue eyes are very distracting, he thinks, with the emotions he can almost see clearly.
“What’d I do, except -- fuck up Kitri?”
“I never said anything about fucking anything up. You were practicing,” Noctis says, honestly. “And I was -- fucking everything up my own self. So I listened to you. You sounded like you knew what you were doing.”
The man laughs again.
But this time it’s a broken small laugh.
“You’re a little late, aren’t you? That was me pretty much five years ago. So not the me of today. I don’t know what I’m doing. I didn’t even know why I wanted to try and do Kitri, a little. I haven’t danced in five years.”
“With your form like that?” With difficulty Noctis swallows his surprise.
Shrug, that only looks careless.
And the way he turns away, the corner of his lip coming crooked and sad.
Noctis clenches his hand into a fist.
And says, “I’ll be right back.”
Runs back to his practice room and picks up his music player and hustles, and he throws the little device at the blond -- he picks the heavy square and its trailing wires out of the air, easily, and tilts his head. “And?”
“Play,” Noctis says: voice command.
Swish and flurry of cymbals and synths, and a driving rhythm of electric guitars, and the music is enough to fill up this half of the practice room.
Maybe enough for the two of them.
Noctis steps into the room, fully, and tilts his head as the melody develops and the vocalist begins to sing: “Come on, just – move.
“Dance with me.”
He begins with the sweep of his leg and his hand, whirling, trying to express the song -- he only knows what it means because he looked up a translation of the lyrics -- and he’s leaping and twirling into the deceptive chorus, even-keeled but there are such currents beneath the words, and --
On the last line of the refrain the blond pushes into his space, catches up his hands, and into the bridge -- they’re dancing, together, and one moment Noctis leads, the next he’s easily yielding, the two of them leaping and breaking together, freestyling without any form of second-guessing, and he breaks away to fly out into a series of jetes and his partner leaps beautifully after him --
When the refrain rolls around again he takes the man’s hand and whirls him around, guides him through an improvised pas de deux, and -- the moment is broken when he fumbles the last step and the blond just laughs and springs away into one more pirouette -- apparently just for the hell of it.
And Noctis is grinning, and feels the stretch of that grin all the way down into his toes. The warmth of the man’s hands, the flyaway lines of his hair. “That form,” Noctis says. “That’s what I was talking about. You’re good, and more than that, you’re talented.”
“And I know who you are, and what you mean when you talk about form,” is the response. “You’re not bullshitting me, are you? Noctis Caelum?”
“I really am not. I have literally no reason to,” he says, as open as he can make himself be. “And I don’t know who you are, so I don’t have any reason to be an asshole, either.”
“I’m no one,” is the response, sliversharp grin still fixed on that mouth. “Just -- someone from out there. Prompto Argentum’s the name.”
“Well you need to dance, Prompto,” Noctis says. “Seems you can’t not. Five years is nothing. You’ve got something in you that you need to let out and this is the only place you can do it.”
To his relief, Prompto’s rigid smile falls away, relaxes, into something more real. Freckles stippling the corners of his mouth. “You probably know that one just as well as I do.”
Noctis nods, once.
Wills him to believe it.

Haven't read a headcanon yet with this subject BUT: let's go with the fact that Luna lives and Noctis marries her and they have little cute babies. ALSO Ravus the adorable beanpole lives too because some awesome badass person saves him last second.*cough*Sheridan*cough* What type of uncle would Ravus be to the little royal tykes? Spoil them rotten or be stern? I think this would be so cute.
Oh hey. Remember the boys I talked about HERE and HERE? Yeah, let’s discuss them a bit more too. c: Perhaps his relationship with each of the boys as they grow up~
Little Minions – Uncle Ravus and the Caelum Boys Headcanons
He hardly thought the idea of ‘babysitting’ was important for him to do. He had to make sure Tenebrae wasn’t burning to the ground (again), and so the notion of having to babysit for the week was hardly pleasant.
He was unable to attend the birth of his nephews, and due to his disability and tensions still after Niflheim had fallen and Ravus’s name was slandered amongst some, his advisor suggested that Ravus shouldn’t travel just yet.
This meant that his nephews’ arrival would mark the very first time he would be meeting the boys.
So he stood there, awaiting the car to arrive with the boys, awkwardly fidgeting with his tie and undoing it several times until his advisor had to adjust the tie for him. Having one arm now definitely made it harder to do anything.
The car had arrived, and Ravus could only stare down at the three little boys in front of him. One clearly annoyed that he was there, another staring up at Ravus as if mesmerized by the king of Tenebrae, and another… Well, he was too busy staring at the maids with a fiendish smile.
The first thing Ravus remembered hearing one of them ask – and it wasn’t any sort of greeting either. “Can we go home yet?”
Ravus let out a sigh and rubbed his face. This was going to be a long week…
The Curious Case of the Eldest Prince
For a young boy that was only about eight years old, Ravus noticed that on the first day, when the two youngest brothers decided to venture around the mansion on their own, the eldest son hardly seemed interested in the endeavor.
While they ventured about, he decided to reside solely in the library, acquainting himself to the books upon books there, dedicating himself to the extra assignments Uncle Iggy had asked him to do.
Ravus liked to dedicate himself to his work, but goodness. Did this boy do anything besides just study?
Ravus found himself stopping in as he noticed for the third day in a row since the boys’ arrival to the Fleuret manor that the boy was studying. Once again. Apparently doing something as tedious as arithmetic and Eos World History. How dreadful… Just what was Scientia making this boy do?
He asked if the boy wished to take a break, but was immediately met with a straight-forward no. It was almost shocking to hear, almost offending Ravus because damn. Now he knew how others felt.
It wasn’t until Ravus had locked the library doors the next day that he had found the young boy sitting at another table, still doing his work. Ravus let out a sigh, but he would win in the battle.
So he approached the boy again, asking if he would like to learn what it was like being the King of Tenebrae. The glint in the boy’s glasses showed immediate interest.
So Ravus spent the next few days with the boy as his shadow, teaching him the court etiquette of Tenebraen politics, showing him the responsibilities a king would have. All while also making sure he wouldn’t turn into a delinquent like his younger brother – that was for certain.
Out of all of the boys, it seems that Ravus has the most respect for this boy, knowing that one day, he’d become a valiant and wonderful king.
But damn… That boy really needed to learn how to do something beyond just studying. He’d have to have a talk to Ignis to make sure he started doing some more extra-curricular things.
The Curious Case of the Middle Prince
This? This boy was going to be the future oracle? Ravus was rather baffled to hear the news that the eldest son would be the king and the middle child would be the oracle. The eldest son had potential, but this middle child…? Ravus wasn’t having it.
Especially when he heard news of the five year old boy getting smacked for trying to look up his advisor’s skirt, claiming that they had weird legs they wanted to see. He unfortunately walked out of there with a giant red mark on his face after being slapped.
But nevertheless, the little boy had a smile on his face as he was satisfied with completing his mission, but Ravus was hardly pleased to hear the complaints against the boy – ranging from pranks on the kitchen staff to maids having to clean up the destruction left in the boy’s wake.
Honestly? Lunafreya allowed that little shithead Noctis to raise a boy as mischievous like this?
Ravus sat there in his office, staring at the five year old boy that rocked on his feet with his arms innocently tucked behind his back. He knew that this boy was up to no good, just by the smug ass smile on his face. Reminded him too much of Caelum…
No matter how much he scolded the boy, however, he always seemed to get into more and more trouble. The boy was a walking migraine. And he probably couldn’t even pronounce the word or know its meaning.
But as Ravus had to conduct business with the new Altissian secretary in regards to luxury trades in exchange for other imports, the boy was quite a charmer, after he was found stowing away under the table in hopes someone would sit on his squeaky cushion for fun.
The secretary was charmed enough to accept Ravus’s deal and offer more as well, a good trade for certain. He eyed the boy, who smiled and thanked her – in the name of the new oracle. A good play for certain.
Perhaps the boy was a troublemaker, but Ravus could see that he would grow up into a fine oracle. Once he stopped trying to stick gum onto the secretary’s backside in the form of a smiley face.
The Curious Case of the Youngest Prince
Not even three years old. Not even three. Why was Noctis and Lunafreya trying to pawn off such a small child onto him? Ravus could easily crush this child’s developing little brain with too tight of a hug, for Astrals’ sake.
So the fact that the little boy was having such a fit about being separated from his mother and wouldn’t stop crying the first three days was awful. How could a little boy cry so much? How is it that none of the servants could calm this boy?
Ravus grit his teeth in frustration, going to the room where the little boy was tucked into, and stared at him. That stare alone silenced the child. Good. Strike fear into the boy. Make sure he doesn’t cry again in the halls of his mansion.
But it wasn’t exactly fear, Ravus realized, that got the boy to quiet down. It was the fact that Ravus had the same eye color as his mother that got him to relax. Well, one of his eyes, at least. Ravus hardly seemed to notice.
So as Ravus was about to depart again, the small whimper and grabby hands at him got him to stop and look back at the boy that reached to him. The sad and dejected look was so sad that even Ravus couldn’t walk away from them.
So with a heavy sigh, he walked back to the boy’s bed, laying down next to him with his arm folded over his chest and his gaze on the ceiling. He was only going to be there until the little one fell asleep.
Well, that’s what he thought, at least. The small boy ended up snuggling up to him and securing a hold onto Ravus’s shirt to keep the king from leaving.
So in defeat, Ravus took off his glasses and his coat before he let the child curl up under his arm as he fell asleep as well.
This unfortunately caused a bond to form between the two of them, with the youngest son unable to be away from Ravus’s company without wanting to cry from anxiety. So Ravus found himself having to come up with a solution.
So as Prompto and Gladiolus visited the providence on behalf of some Lucian business, they were surprised to see Ravus being followed after by a tiny three year old, who clutched onto Ravus’s empty sleeve with his stuffed behemoth under his arm and still in his night onesie.
Prompto had to resist taking a shot of the King, while Gladio had to hold back making jokes and unleashing Ravus’s wrath. No kid should have to witness that sight, that was for sure. Still, it was a damn cute sight.

Scene: Shiva visits each of the following characters individually in their sleep. She wants to show them the future they’re fighting for, and that happens to include a child. In this dream, they get to interact with their future child, even if neither will remember it when they awaken.
Noctis
His child instantly falls asleep when held longer than 2 minutes by him
Like, they can sleep anywhere.
But he loves it.
He stands there, just holding them.
Their little arms around his neck.
It warms Noct’s heart that they WANT to be held by him.
In the dream, there’s no hesitation.
The child sees him and walks right up to him, arms outstretched.
Noctis isn’t sure what to do with kids, normally.
He’s one of those “I’ll break your baby” types.
But this kid is easy.
They simply want to cuddle.
Noctis absolutely loves it.
He stands there, bouncing the child lightly and petting their hair.
Their every sound and movement is adorable to him.
Eventually, he would sit down and nap with them.
When Shiva returns to him, beckoning him to the waking world,
Noctis sets the child down in a bed,
It rubs its eyes with little fists, but goes back to sleep.
“Sleep well, little one. I’ll see you when you wake.”
Prompto
His child is terrified of Chocobo’s due to their father’s obsession.
Prompto appears in a child’s bedroom in the dream.
It’s brightly lit, with stuffed animals everywhere.
A little child looks up at him from the floor.
They’re playing with toy vehicles.
“Er…hey there!” Prompto greets.
They’re silent, shyly looking up at him.
Prompto would sit down next to them, asking about their toys.
Eventually they play together.
It doesn’t take long after that before Prom has the child in giggling fits from his sound effects.
“But you know what this game really needs?”
Prompto gets up, looking around the room.
Any child of his HAS to have tons of these.
It takes him awhile, but he finds what he’s looking for stuffed in a cupboard.
“A Chocobo!” He presents the yellow plush with jubilence.
The child looks horrified.
They start to cry!
“Oh no! OH NO! Oh no!”
Prompt is panicking!
He made a kid cry!
His kid!
“What’s wrong? Oh, don’t cry, it’s ok! See?”
He trys to bring the plush closer to the child, but they scoot across the floor away from him.
Finally, it dawns on Prompto.
“Look! No more chocobo! It’s gone!”
The child still has tears in their eyes and looks scared.
But they let Prompto get close.
“Come’ere,” he says, sitting on the floor.
They come over and cuddle up next to him.
“What’s wrong?”
“Chocobo’s are scary!” The child states matter of factly.
“They’re what?!” Prompto is honestly shocked.
“They’re mean and they don’t like me!” The child is full on pouting now.
“Why do you think they don’t like you?”
“Because they peck at me.”
Prompto can’t help but laugh. He was scared of things as a child, too.
“I’ll tell you what, how about we find you a really really nice one.”
“No! I don’t want one.”
“Ok, ok, no chocobos.”
Well, there goes Promp’s dreams of owning a chocobo farm.
But this kid might be worth it.
“I want a moogle!” The child pipes up.
Prompto laughs.
“You like moogles? Tell me more!”
Prompto listens as the child regales him with “facts” about moogles and how much they love them.
He loves their enthusiasm.
When it’s time to leave, the child gives their (future) father a big hug.
Prompto is shocked at first, but hugs them back.
“Take care, bud. I’ll see you soon.”
Ignis
His child already drinks ebony due to an accident and loves cooking with him
Ignis appears in the kitchen of a home.
The sun is rising outside.
A small child is awake, standing in the middle of the kitchen.
“Well, hello,” Ignis greets it.
The child doesn’t even look at him.
Instead, it goes straight to the fridge.
It has to throw it’s body back to open the stubborn door.
At least half of the fridge is just cans of Ebony.
The child takes one.
Using both hands to support the can, they start to drink.
Barely stopping to breathe.
“I doubt that is recommended for a child.”
Ignis crosses the kitchen to them.
“Dad lets me.” Finally! They speak!
Ignis is doubtful.
“I drank his once when I was a baby, now he lets me drink them.”
“Why would your father leave coffee where you could get to it?”
“He didn’t, he gave it to me.” The child finishes the rest of the can.
“What?!”
“He wasn’t awake and put coffee in my cup instead of milk.”
Ignis’s head is in his hand.
Is HE truly going to do that?
“Duly noted…”
They stand in the kitchen, simply staring at each other.
This is not a touchy child.
“Well…Do you want some breakfast,” Ignis asks, figuring he may as well do something.
“Sure! I’ll get ready.” They perked up at this idea.
Iggy is expecting them to get washed and set the table.
Instead, they get out a child’s apron, a stool, and a colorful whisk.
With some struggle, they bring the stool over to where Ignis is standing and set it down next to him.
“OK! What are we making.”
The whole scene is honestly adorable.
Ignis decides to make them pancakes and fruit.
Everything he does is met with, “I want to help!”
The child pours cups of ingredients into the batter and stirs everything.
Ingredients go everywhere, but the child is trying their best.
At first, Ignis won’t let them near the stove.
But eventually he gives and lets them flip one pancake.
He certainly won’t let them near the knives!
Fruit pieces do go missing from the counter as they continue making breakfast.
Ignis’s heart is so warm.
He’s smiling ear to ear when they sit down to eat.
As they finish their food, Shiva returns to take Ignis away.
The child looks scared as he gets up to leave.
They jump up and hug his legs.
“Don’t go!”
The scene breaks Ignis’s heart.
“I’ll return soon, little one,” he whispers as he kisses the top of their head.
Gladio
His child can read way above their reading level
Gladio is in the library of the Amicitia Estate.
In among the towering dark shelves and countless books,
He sees large stacks of random books on the ground.
Small eyes peer out at him from behind them.
He crouches down to be level with them.
“Hey there.”
“Hi,” is all he gets back.
“Whatcha reading,” Gladio asks, taking a nearby book.
“Stuff.”
“What kind of stuff?”
“All of it.”
Gladio smiles. They respond just how Iris used to.
“Cool.” He sits down and takes a nearby book, opening it up to read.
“That’s not a good one,” the books squeak.
Gladio looks up before examining the cover of the book.
“The Metamorphosis…Nope! It certainly is not.” Gladio sets the book down suddenly.
What was that doing in a child’s book pile?
“This one is better!” Finally, they come out from behind their books.
They bring an old red leather bound book to hand to Gladio.
He takes it.
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream, huh? Have you read this?”
The child sits down next to Gladio.
“Yeah. I liked it.” They lean up against him.
“Well…ok,” Gladio cracks open the book and starts reading.
The child is reading over his shoulder.
He smiles at them and starts reading out loud.
He makes all the voices and uses his best dramatic reading skills!
They love it! Laughing often.
They’re to the second act when Shiva returns.
Gladio sighs as he stands, handing the book back to the kid.
“Can we finish it later,” they ask, looking up at him.
“Absolutely, kiddo.” He ruffles their hair, looking down at them lovingly.
He starts to walk towards Shiva when he feels them tackle his leg.
The scene makes him want to cry.
He picks them up, hugging them.
“Daddy will be home soon.”
Bonus
Ravus
Oh baby, this kid has the scowl down pat!
They stand in Fenestala Manor, staring at each other.
It’s a scowl off.
But, just like Ravus, they can’t hold it forever.
They turn from him, suddenly taking off through the halls!
“Get back here!” The High Commander of Niflheim chases after a child through his own home.
They run off towards the conservatory, slipping through the doors just before Ravus.
He pushes the great doors open, stopping for a moment as the feeling of the room hits him.
It is warm and humid with the smells of flowering plants from all across Eos.
It’s silent, except for birds chirping high overhead.
All the eye sees are greens and bright colors from the flowers.
Breathing deeply, Ravus can taste the flowers in the humidity.
This was always one of his favorite rooms.
If this truly is his child, it’s no surprise that they ran here.
Ravus and his mother had tended many of these plants.
It was always a place where he could feel closer to her memory.
The bushes rustle.
Ravus takes a moment to close the great doors, before walking the halls between the great plants.
More rustles.
He follows the noise.
He comes upon a very unique bush.
The plant is massive, stretching from floor to the 30 foot tall ceilings and at least half that in width.
The branches are greenish bark, bushing out from the ground.
The leaves on it are small, especially in comparison to the palm sized white blossoms that appear amply over the bush.
Currently, the bush looks to be more blossom than leaf.
This particular plant is extraordinary and only an expert would know it’s secrets.
Ravus can hear small noises behind the bush.
He whistles. It’s a half second long high note made between the tongue and the lips.
The plant shakes, coming to life.
Swish!
All of the flowers close, the petals folding inwards to protect the pistil.
The child is revealed, their hiding place behind the bush now obsolete.
They look utterly shocked.
“How did you do that,” they demand of Ravus.
He can’t help it.
He smiles at the scene.
Many years ago, he said similar words to his mother when she showed him the trick.
“There’s much you don’t know about the occupants of this room.”
“Show me!” The child creeps out from behind the bush to stand before him.
“Only if you say please.” Ravus can hear his mother saying those exact same words.
“Please…” The child adds.
“Come.” Ravus begins to walk the halls of the great conservatory, stopping at each plant to discuss it with the child.
“What about that bush…will it be ok,” the child asks, looking back on their hiding spot.
“Yes, with a little time, the flowers will open back up.”
As Ravus makes for another plant, the child takes his magiteck hand, holding it.
He’s shocked!
His instincts almost kick in to push them away.
But something else holds him back.
They walk through the gardens, hand in hand. Ravus answers every question the child can think of.
Coming full circle, they see that the bush’s flowers have reopened.
“Look!” The child bounces excitedly.
“I see!” A smile graces his harsh face.
Shiva appears, framed by the great flowers, holding a hand out to Ravus.
“NO!” The child folds into him, gripping his leg. “Please, don’t go!”
You can hear the High Commander’s heart shatter.
Images of his mother’s smile flash in his mind.
He leans over, wrapping the small child in his arms.
“When you awaken, I will be right here, little blossom. I will never leave you.”
Luna
Luna’s child is mischievous, just like she used to be.
Shiva takes her to the doorway of a grand bedroom.
It’s a child’s bedroom; there are toys everywhere.
But it appears no one is here.
“Hello,” Luna asks the room.
Silence.
Luna takes a step forward.
“BOO!” A child jumps in front of her from behind the door.
Luna gasps, startled, hand flying to her chest.
The child giggles.
Then Luna does.
“Gotcha,” they tease.
“Yes, you did!” Luna bends over to greet the child, a warm smile on her face.
The child smiles back.
“Want to color with me?”
“Yes!”
They settle on floor cushions at a low table, crayons and paper spread out before them.
“Here, you can use this one!” The child hands Luna a silver ink pen.
“Thank…” Luna responds before the pen shocks her!
The child laughs at their prank.
“You really are a trickster, aren’t you?” Luna is giving them a mocking side eye.
“Yep!”
Luna does her best to come up with a way to trick the child.
“Do you want a snack,” they ask some time later.
“I’d love one,” Luna responds.
“I’ll go get us one!” They take off running out of the bedroom.
In that time, Luna switches the caps on all of the markers in the box the child was using.
Then, she hides in the closet.
The child returns with fruit.
They’re quiet at first.
“Are you still here,” they call.
Luna watches, waiting.
The child puts the tray of fruit on the coloring table.
“BOO!” It’s Luna’s turn to jump out in front of them!
They squeal.
“You got me,” they shout through toothy giggles.
They both laugh and settle in for snacks.
Luna gives them a look before biting into an apple.
“It’s safe! I promise,” they plead.
She smiles and bites into it.
The child goes back to coloring.
Soon, they dramatically sigh.
“What is it,” Luna asks.
“I have a purple sun…” the child holds up a purple marker with a yellow lid on it and their paper with a large purple circle in the corner.
Luna starts to giggle.
“You did that,” they shout, giving her a fake pout.
Both of them laugh and enjoy the day.
When Shiva returns, Luna stands to leave.
“Wait! Here!” The child hands her their drawing.
It’s of the two of the under a big purple sun.
Luna smiles fondly at it.
“So…you don’t forget about me,” the child says.
“I could never forget about you, little star.” She holds her future child tight.

SURPRISE its not what I said I’d deliver which is still in the works, but here have this:
Tumblr media
Just Dating Ravus Nox Fleuret things:
Ah, your dear Ravus is very complicated. Very complicated and not at all a bad man. He has made mistakes; acted in desperation to try and take control of a situation that he’s forced into with the Empire and has done bad things to try and keep his sister safe. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and Ravus has only tried to do good things. Beneath his brooding exterior he is fiercely loyal and very much a proud prince. He is not a bad man. Proof of that is the fact that you are by his side. You remind him every day that good things are not beyond his reach; you are his beautiful silver lining.
Ravus won’t exactly understand that he’s attracted to you at first, though a subconscious part of him understands. He’ll drift toward you unknowingly most of the time. He’ll find that his feet will lead him towards the sound of your voice or that he’ll wander to places he knows you’ll be at partcular times. At first he thinks it’s your fault, that you’re purposely crossing paths with him, that you’re out to distract him from his duties and brooding with your lovely smile and bright eyes, but eventually the High Commander will catch on and—no, its not your fault, but actually his. Whoops.
Affection with Ravus is sweet, meaningful and fleeting. Take what he gives you and know its all he feels he can give you at the time. It might seem insignicant compared to all the other grandeur gestures that you see and hear about from other people, but don’t compare it those cheesy and flimsy things. Ravus’ affection is careful and adoring. A few quiet moments here and there in private. His fingers gently brushing yours, a kiss of your hand, a loving touch of your hair. He doesn’t hug you, he holds you; holds you because you are world to him. Whatever loving emotions and efforts that are left in his heart, he gives to you. Cherish them, please.
Gifts from Ravus are mysterious at first, but you catch onto his antics pretty quickly. He doesn’t like handing you gifts face-to-face for some reason. You wonder if it might be because he’s a bit shy and out of practice actually showing affection this way or that it’s to help preserve his stoic, cold and brooding image. Maybe its a bit of both. Either way, you start finding gifts in places you often visit. Single exotic flowers in bloom, little things like unique pins or pens that are one-of-a-kind. They seem like odds and ends, but they always suit your aesthetic. Ravus is very observant when it comes to you, even if it doesn’t seem like it.
The first time you actually sit and spend time with Ravus, it’s actually awkward and very much Lunafreya’s fault. She wants to smile, there are hardly any reasons to smile anymore when the Empire is breathing down her neck, but she see how her brother is when you’re near and she just can’t help herself. Luna invites you to come have some tea with her one afternoon. With her sheer force of her personality she’s somehow managed to get a lovely chef to prepare high tea for two. Little sweet tarts, cakes, scones with jam and cream, the works. You’re actually quite excited when you see the spread. Your heart drops when Luna shows up with Ravus in tow. Before that moment you’ve said very little to him, although you personally hold him in high regard and respect him very much. Ravus looks very uncomfortable, or it feels like it even though he has his usual stoic expression. Dear Lunafreya pretty much dumps her brother with you, making up some excuse regarding Oracle duties and leaves you alone with Ravus. He has every reason to get up and leave right away, but for some reason he stays. Ravus knows he should leave, he is very much out of his element, but he stays not only for you, but—damn it all, Lunafreya—also for the scones with his favourite jam and cream. It’s a nostalgic treat that he used to have with his sister as children and it’s been so long that he can’t resist. It’s a very clever trap. Honestly the brunch goes by almost silently, save for the clinking of cutlery, cups and saucers. The food is very good, though you do your absolute best not to watch as Ravus eats his share of the sweets one by one—all of them are his favourites. Lunafreya is so very clever. That moment is also very special because you have to understand that while Ravus doesn’t say much of anything to you, the fact that he’s sharing a meal with you is actually very intimate. Not just anyone gets to witness that or share that kind of time with him. Its a silent admission of trust. He shows so much of his private side to you during the brunch that honestly if you didn’t have feelings for him before, you would be considering it now. Ravus Nox Fleuret is an absolutely charming monster, all without saying a single word. Six save you.

Versus XV
The atmosphere of the Versus world is very different from XV's world.
The Caelum family opposes the Fleuret family. The Fleuret family dabbles in black magic, power hungry, and are willing to sacrifice anything for the sake of gaining entrance to the Kingdom of the Dead. Luna was once apart of the Fleuret family (full name Lunafreya) until her brother saved her from being sacrificed by their parents.
Once every five years, the Kingdom of the Dead surfaces on the same plane as humanity causing a red moon to appear. Cult followers believe that giving a child to the moon would bestow them great power. The Fleuret's are amongst those believers. However, there are times when the ritual goes wrong and the price payed is a loss of sense. After saving his sister, his mother and father decided to sacrifice him instead. The ritual went wrong and Ravus went blind and his parents perished. The loss of the leaders of said family caused Niflheim to easily annex Tenebrae; taking its crystal as well. To save little Luna from suffering the empire's wrath, the blinded Ravus used the magic gifted to him by the accident to erase her memory and left her in the streets of Insomnia, eventually found by a loving and wealthy couple. Her true name being Lunafreya Nox Fleuret. But her adoptive family gave her the name Luna Cornelia.
Ravus Nox Fleuret became a Niflheim general, his magic prowess making him a high ranking magus. He uses magic to sense others around him to make up for his lost of sight. He dreams of seeing his little sister again and secretly protects her during the invasion.
Noctis Lucis Caelum, at the tender age of 8 nearly died after a brutal attack from a Marlith. Seeing the Gate of the Dead, he walked towards it only for an extremely beautiful Angel to push him away from it with a tender smile. After waking up, his father was distraught but extremely relieved. A few short weeks later, Regis introduced the healing boy to the oracle Gentiana. Noctis kept to himself, noting the oracle looked like the angel from his near death experience. He immediately grew fond of her, and vice versa.
One year later, the Cornelia family introduced Luna to Regis and Noctis, proud of their daughter's academic prowess and hoping to impress the king. Luna and Noctis due to a unlikely circumstance grew close to one another. And they remained close for the majority of their life.
Prompto Argentum came into Noctis's life in his late teens. Nevertheless, the two were close. He was a Niflheim double agent that grew to adore the prince, not fond of the empire's practices. Verstael still doesn't care for what his son actually wants. See's Aranea and Loqi as sibling figures.
Gladiolus Amicitia has a difficult relationship with Noctis. Believing him to be spoiled and stupid, but still holding affection for him. His fealty, however, wanes after then invasion.
Ignis Scientia is devoted to his prince, and always there no matter what. He is the soothing voice of reason and thinks of plans in advance. Quietly nurses a crush on Gentiana.
Luna Cornelia is incredibly shy and timid, not really sure of what she wants. But speaks passionately of her hopes and dreams when excited. Easily broken by the events her Noctis suffered, she prays that he finds peace. Sadly, she is broken by the realization of her own origin and is horrified. Learning that her true family opposes the Caelum's, she struggles to understand and remains by his side causing great friction between Ravus and Noctis.
Ardyn Izunia is the Chancellor and the man who is hungry for power over his loss of Etro's favor. He uses empires and many cult families to sacrifice their children in order to enter the Gate once more to kill the goddess himself. None of the rituals worked successfully and it's implied that Luna may be the key which is why Ravus wanted to avoid her fate. Ardyn isn't as shady as to outright hurt Luna but more so use someone else. He killed Regis and Clarus during the invasion.
After the invasion, it's revealed the blood moon is making another appearance and as such people are clamoring to give their babies to gain power. Daemons are especially strong during this time. Noctis after fighting many bases, arguments ensue between his friends, and Etro's mocking tone in his mind, Noct's sanity soon begins to leave.
Manipulating his fragile state of mind on the two night blood moon, Ardyn reveals that he killed his father causing Noctis to snap, and his powers to go haywire killing other people in the ritual arena. Horrified and begging Noctis to stop, his friends are paralyzed by Ardyn, leaving Luna to face his wrath. Luna pleads and fights with him, knowing his recklessness could kill him, and get near fatally stabbed by him. While she lives, her blood that's spilled on the ground was the key to opening the Gate, letting Ardyn go inside.
Hurt, confused, and angry Noctis aids Luna and soon leaves out of shame. His friends beg him to stay only for him to refuse.
Gentiana, the angel senses Ardyn entering the gate and becomes worried when the blood moon extends to three nights.
Ravus is easily able to kidnap Luna and tell her about their family and reveals his inner feelings of wishing to protect her even blinded. Although, unsure, she feels the love she had for him years ago, and reluctantly let's him protect her. The bros look for Noctis worried about him, Gladiolus soon expresses disappointment in his friend's loss of sanity. Ignis and Prompto snap at him but eventually even Gladiolus leaves the party.
Ravus eventually loses his life against an empowered Ardyn who successfully returned from slaying the goddess. As he died, he told Luna of his unfailing love. Gentiana hearing his feelings bestows his sight to see one more time and stare at his beloved sister. Luna, hurt and heartbroken, experiences a mental break that leaves her mute.
Noctis has a vision of his father who tells of his faithful love and reassures him that he's proud. Telling him to find his destiny and make it right, Noctis with a new resolve, sets out to find and his friends and Luna. He meets up with Ignis and Prompto who are anxious about explaining Gladio's departure but a calm Noctis reassures them and says they'll find him. Prompto in the meantime is trying to stall his father's plan of experimenting on Bahamut.
Yhe three find Luna in Cor Leonis's care, broken beyond repair. Noctis, tells her of his desire to ensure a better future and to protect her. While still, saddened, Luna is happy to see him okay and accepts his apology of wounding her. About to tell him of her feelings, she is interrupted by soldiers invading and annexing another territory. Angered, Luna puts aside her fears and joins Noctis, Ignis, Prompto, and Cor Leonis.
The five meet up with Verstael, who leaves Gladio in charge of the mechanized Bahamut Zero. Prompto desperately wanting to stop his father, gets injured, gaining a deep scar on his cheek. Noctis begs Gladio to reconsider and as he thinks of his love for Noctis, Bahamut Zero fires Gigaflare at him causing Gladio to jump in front and take the blast. Dying in Noctis's arms, he tells him he was foolish and should've stayed by his side. Noctis promises to make things right and avenge Clarus for him.
Everyone is sad for a long time until Ardyn reappears and strikes down Cor Leonis. More sadness... Ardyn tells the group of his plans to become God and rule over all creation. The blood moon will remain forever and all will be blotted out.
Opening the Gate, he implores to others to come. Final Dungeon time. Inside the Kingdom of the Dead, the four talk of their dreams and hardships. Ignis is worried about what will happen, Prompto wants to prove his worth, and Luna struggles with loss and her feelings for Noctis. Gentiana crosses paths with them, confirming she was the angel Noctis saw as a child. He thanks her tenderly, admitting to seeing her as a mother.
Touched by his words, Gentiana sheds a tear, and prays for a safe passage. At Etro's throne, Ardyn sits there and awaits the four, mocking them for their every loss. Noctis explains it because of those losses that made them strong (cheesy sorry). Epic battle with Ardyn occurs.
The final phase of the fight, Gladiolus, Clarus, and Regis give Noctis strength to perform the fina blow. Ardyn dies but leaves with a dark warning; the power of death is a double edged sword. Which rings true as Noctis's body remains damaged and struggles to leave through the closing gate. The other's try to take him along but he tells them of his eternal love for them and pushes them through. Noctis dies in Gentiana's arms at the foot of the throne, destiny propelling her to be the new Goddess and holds him in her embrace until Regis comes to hold Noctis.
Gladiolus, Clarus, and Cor surround the Dead prince, sadly, but knowing his soul will be with them permanently. The world is heavily damaged but the three living friends continue on their way. Luna returns to Tenebrae, in hopes of making it a better place and Ignis + Prompto go to Hammerhead, the blond hoping to make things right.

Could I request some headcanons of the chocobros's s/o feeling a little under the weather and wanting to be with their bro for some time? A comfort thing.
Ohh baby, yes you can. Because I’ve been running a fever all day today and was actually daydreaming about this. I hope you’re feeling better, too, Anon! ❤
I swear, I’ll get back to doing requests in order as soon as Four Suns is done. I am so excited (especially about one). You all entrust me with your amazing ideas and, many times, concepts that are immensely personal. I want to give each one the time and energy they deserve, but sometimes, I can’t muster that.

Noctis
He’d want to make you feel better so bad.
But is also sort of grossed out if you’re really sick.
Also, doesn’t want to get sick himself.
But he really doesn’t know how to handle this.
So he’s constantly calling the nurse for you.
It’ll get annoying, but he’s worried.
He’ll bring you anything you want.
Always making sure you have a full glass of water at your bedside.
You want cuddles? Perfect!
He’ll fall asleep next to you.
You’ll watch whatever movies you want.
Or play anything you want (he’ll even let you win).
Just wants you to feel better.
But is a major baby if he catches what you have.
Prompto
The world is practically ending.
This is serious!!
He’s so worried about you!
Would bring you every sort of medicine the drug store has.
And a cute stuffed animal to make you feel better.
Anything you could remotely want is yours.
Movies? Boom, he’s got five to choose from.
Games? All of them are at your disposal.
You won’t have to lift a finger!
He thinks it’s adorable if you randomly fall asleep.
Is also less squeamish than Noct, but still not great.
All of the cuddles.
All of them.
Anything for you.
If he catches what you have, he’ll try to tough it out with a smile on his face.
But if you start babying him, it’s all over.
Ignis
Is this most calm over this matter.
Knows all the proper medicines.
Always keeps you hydrated.
Sets up a hot bath with essential oils to help clear your head.
He is truly the best nurse.
Has his arm around you as you cuddle.
Smiling as you fall asleep against him.
May fall asleep, as well.
Not squeamish because he knows how to keep himself well.
And the soup he makes! Wow.
Delicious and makes you feel better.
Would even feed you, likely making you blush.
“Oh, stop. It’s one of the few times I can actually care for you.”
If you do try to get up, he’ll be playful but determined to get you back to bed.
“You need your rest, dearest. Don’t make me carry you back.”
If he catches what you have, he’ll try to work through it, making himself sicker.
He’ll be so grateful when you take care of him, but he won’t know what to do with himself.
Gladio
You are being taken care of, if it’s the last thing he does.
Seriously, won’t let you lift a finger.
Will carry you back to bed if you try to get out.
You have water always at hand.
And tissues.
And a book.
Doesn’t really like medicine, but he’ll get it for you.
And even sets up a humidifier with mint oils to help clear your head.
If you have the strength, he’ll try to get you to take a walk with him,
Seeing if movement and sweat help get the cold out of you.
But will quickly learn his lesson if that doesn’t work.
All the cuddles.
Power cuddles.
You’re in his lap or at his side.
You’ll watch classic movies together.
Or he’ll read to you.
Loves watching you fall asleep against him.
This guy is not squeamish at all.
He’s always checking your temperature.
Keeping tabs on you.
He’ll have you better in no time.
If he catches what you have, though.
You’ll never hear the end of it.
Sure, he can take all the hits the Empire can dole out,
But a head cold will cripple him.
He’s such a loud complainer with that nasally voice.
He’ll pout when you remind him of such.
Bonus:
Ravus
Will be pissed if you don’t tell him and try to work through it.
He’s so worried about you and so mad that you didn’t just tell him.
He was sickly as a child, so the Manor nurses won’t let him around you when you’re sick.
And that upsets him even more.
But you’ll always have fresh flowers at your bedside.
As the best nurses in Tenebrae care for you.
Will occasionally sneak in to check on you,
Bringing you small gifts like your favorite book or sweets.
As he runs his hand down your face,
“Get well soon, my darling.”
Before he’s shooed away.
Luna
Will want to stop the whole world until you’re well,
But she may not be able to.
She’ll make sure you’re well tended to even when she’s away.
And every minute that she can, she’ll be beside you.
Sitting at your bedside or snuggling up next to you in bed.
Will read to you to relax you.
Will constantly have Pyrna and Umbra at your feet, snuggling in her place.
And leaves cute notes for you to find when you awake.
Ardyn
Will bring the world to its knees to make you feel better.
This will hit him hardest, as he used to be able to heal you.
And now…?
But he’ll make sure you are always cared for.
It may amaze you how well he knows how to care for you.
He’s not squeamish in the slightest.
Kissing your forehead to check your temperature.
Sweeping in with more water for you.
Knowing just what will settle your stomach.
Snuggles? Always.
You’ll curl up against him in bed and he wouldn’t move for the world.
He’ll read stories to you,
Or simply hum as he pets your hair.
The whole world will stop until you’re well.
Nyx
Is actually super caring about this whole ordeal.
Used to care for his sister when she got sick.
So he really wants to take care of you, now.
He’ll make sure you have all of the essentials: water, tissues, soup, etc.
And plenty of movies to watch and things to do.
If he has to go out, he’ll fret over your every need.
“I’ll be fine! I’m sick, not dying.”
“You better not be!”
But he’ll hurry back.
Cuddles? Oh yes.
All of that soft, warm goodness with your Glaive as he kisses your head.
Speaking of soft, warm goodness, he’ll actually make you cookies while you’re sick.
Sure, they’re from a package, but they’re the kind he knows you love.
He used to do this for his sister, so it brings joy to his heart.
If he catches what you have he’ll try to work through it.
But will loudly complain each morning and take way too much cold medicine.
Then be asleep on the couch all day long.
Cor
Also wants to stop the world for you,
But will settle on making his world about you.
He’s calm and fairly nonchalant about the whole ordeal.
He doesn’t act worried, but makes sure you have the essentials.
Gets the basic cold medicine.
But your butt will be at the doctor if you’re not better in exactly one day.
You won’t even have to ask for cuddles.
This man will be tender if you open your arms to him.
He’ll be cuddled up next to you in an instant.
Holding you close to his chest.
Just listening to his heartbeat is comforting,
But he’ll put on a movie or show if you want.
Understands you don’t want something you have to focus on.
He won’t leave your side until you’re well.
If he catches what you have, he won’t make a huge deal out of it,
But will be sick for much longer.
And use ALL of the cold medicine.
He’s only slightly overdramatic.
