DP x DC: The Most Dangerous Card Game

Ok so Danny has essentially claimed earth as his. And he is fully aware that there are constant threats to the planet. Now he can’t stop a threat that originates on earth (that’s something he’ll leave to the Justice league) but he can do something about outside threats. Doing some research on ancient spells, rituals, and artifacts, he cast a world wide barrier on the planet to protect it from hostile threats so they cannot enter. This will prevent another Pariah Dark incident. However, barriers like this come at a price. You see, there are two ways to make a barrier. Either make one powered up by your own energy and power (which would be constantly draining) or set up a barrier with rules. The way magic works is that nothing can be absolutely indestructible. It must have a weakness. The most powerful barriers weren’t the ones reinforced with layer after layer of protective charms and buffed up with power. Those could eventually be destroyed either by being overpowered, wearing them down, or by cutting off the original power source. No, the most powerful barriers were the ones with a deliberate weakness. A barrier indestructible except for one spot. A cage that can only be opened from the outside. Or that can only be passed with a key or by solving a riddle. So Danny chooses this type of barrier and does the necessary ritual and pours in enough power to make it. And he adds his condition for anyone to enter. 

Now the Justice league? Find out about the barrier when Trigon attempts to attack, they were preparing after he threatened what he would do once he got to earth. How he would destroy them. The Justice league tried to take the fight to him first but were utterly destroyed, so they retreated home to tend to their injuries, and fortify earth for one. Last. Stand. Only when Trigon makes his big entrance…he’s stopped.

The Justice league watch in awe as this thin see-through barrier with beautiful green swirls and speckled white lights like stars apears blocking Trigon and his army’s advance. The barrier looks so thin and fragile yet no matter how hard the warlord hits, none of his attacks can get through and neither can he damage said barrier. That’s when Constantine and Zatanna recognizes what this barrier is. Something only a powerful entity could create. For a moment, the league is filled with hope that Trigon can’t get through yet Constantine also explains that it’s not impenetrable. And clearly Trigon knows this too for he calls out a challenge. 

And that’s when, in a flash of light, a tiny glowing teenager appears. He looked absolutly minuscule compared to Trigon and yet practically glowed with power (this isn’t a King Danny AU though).

And that is when the conditions for passing the barrier are revealed. And the Justice realize that the only thing stopping Trigon and his army from decimating earth. The only way he can get through….is by beating this glowing teenager in a card game. 

Not just any card game though. The most convoluted game Sam, Danny, and Tucker invented themselves. It’s like the infinite realms version of magic the gathering, combined with Pokémon, and chess. And Danny is the master. So sit down Trigon and let’s play.

After Danny wins, this happens a few more times with outer word beings and possibly even demons attempting to invade earth, yet none have been able to beat the mysterious teenager in a card game. Constantine might even take a crack at it and try to figure out how to play. He’s really bad though. Every time this happens, the Justice league worry that this might be the time the teenager looses. Yet every time, he wins (even if only barely). 

Meanwhile, Danny, Sam, and Tucker have gotten addicted to the game and play it almost daily. Some teachers might seem them playing the game are are like ‘awww how cute’ not realizing this game is literally saving the world. Jazz is just happy they aren’t spending as much time on their screens playing Doomed.

when the door opened your instinct was to cover yourself with whatever you could find considering that jason had walked in on you in your underwear last week.

" morning " he said as he offered one out to you, sitting himself down on the desk chair after he pressed a kiss to the top of your head.

staying at wayne manor definitely came with its positives, including the huge kitchen you could use to make your meals.

the huge fridge and vast counter space made it easy to make slightly more elaborate meals.

including making your own pesto for your sandwich and for the rest of the house to use if they so pleased.

you were mid way through cutting up some basil when a pair of arms wrapped around your torso, halting your movements so you didnt injure yourself or him by being distracted with a blade in your hand.

you spun in his grip, your arms lifting to wrap around his neck as your head tilted back to look at him.

" how was your workout ?" you questioned, noting his much sweatier appearance than when he had left you this morning.

Warnings: some spoilers from Invincible season 2(and MAYBE comics), Reader is like Raven, so it's kind of mean to everyone but eventually softs up, Reader has an HORRIBLE dad, comfort, Fluff.

It seems that the reader can never have it easy..

reader is the daughter between a human and a demonic entity, which precisely wanted to use her as a channel to other worlds.

Fortunately her mother was able to take her to a safe place to raise her.

reader was on the run with her mother for much of her life, learning magic, about her lineage, her powers, etc.

but at some point something went terribly wrong, related with her father.

It's something painful to remember, but after that the reader's mother...was gone. and she was alone.

reader fled from her father for years, jumping between dimensions and existential planes to evade him.

which obviously generated a lot of mental exhaustion.

But, when she was older, she finally managed to find a relatively safe place.

the earth.

a seemingly peaceful planet, advanced enough to survive, but not a wonder.

and it was infested with people with superpowers.

She would fit in well.

Or well, she would have done it if she had presented herself to the public, reader she dedicated herself to staying in the shadows, anonymous, lending a hand from time to time.

If there were problems and she was around, she would solve it.

and she was fine with that.

But she would be lying if she said she didn't crave the same thing that the hero teams had.

friends, camaraderie... family.

but it was dangerous. It was better to stay out of it.

so it was. until a certain person got in her way.

In fairness, Cecil probably already knew about the reader and tried to send a couple of agents to recognize if she was a possible threat, but they couldn't really find her after that.

Even Cecil himself had a hard time appearing to her, if that says anything.

so they simply issued a kind of bulletin regarding her, that she had magical abilities, that they didn't know if she was an ally or enemy, and that she could be potentially dangerous.

Thanks to this, the reader was even more anonymous than before, even ceasing to appear when the situation required it.

She just didn't want Cecil's attention or for them to think she was an enemy.

Reader spent much of my time hiding in Midnight city or meditating to kill time.

and it continued to appear every time Cecil's agents had a fight where there was a lot of destruction (almost all of them).

Although it was not until the Midnight City incident that the reader met one of them, Invincible in person.

Can you imagine that a reader can access the shadowverse? She was probably there when Mark and Darkwing were "fighting" and she, tired of having her meditation interrupted, simply told Mark that if he caught Darwing he would have to take him out.

and Mark appreciated the advice👍

When he left the Shadowverse and knocked out Darkwing, Reader simply went out to check that he was still alive.

Mark would recognize Reader from the previous encounters, they formally introduce themselves, but Reader leaves when Cecil reconnects with Mark. She says nothing personal, it's just for security.

After that Mark begins to try to include the reader the times he encounters her in battle, he has already seen her using magic, he knows he can help more.

Sometimes it works, and the reader ends up helping to fight certain guys like the environmental scientist, or even the bugs from Mars.

but there are other times where it backfires, where the reader ends up using her powers excessively and that shows a side...not very pleasant about herself.

like a small incident with a member of the lizard league who almost blinded her with a stratospheric device.

...and in return that member went almost crazy for a couple of weeks.

Mark knows that the reader has magic, not what he doesn't know is HOW she has magic, he just knows that it's not something she likes to talk about and it has something to do with her father (and God knows he empathizes with that).

So Mark tends to defend the reader a lot in these types of scenarios, starting a nice friendship between them.

The reader will be somewhat distant and even borde with the guardians of the globe, but Mark gives her a certain feeling of security, after all he does not see her as a threat, so she tends to be in a better mood when he is around.

(and it seems like everyone is aware of this except Mark himself😅).

Reader has joined Mark on patrol several times when she notices how balled up he gets after each fight, and she's really worried that he gets hurt so often, so she acts as an extra backup.

and somehow Mark can't help but be touched by this, aww the bad girl cares about me kind of feeling. Although of course, appreciate the support and concern.

Besides, have the opportunity to see the reader work? sign him the fuck up.

When Mark is away on "family business" (for lack of a better term) the reader is quite anxious to say the least, but tries to keep calm with meditation and doing heroic work.

Let's just say that Mark ends up influencing her to be more heroic on her own no matter what Cecil says about her :')

The reader tries to encourage Mark to open up about his trauma with his father (and more recently Armstron) even if it's not with words, simply by being there for each other.

It is MANDATORY that the reader knows Oliver, I am not making the rules (okay, MAYBE I am, but it's for plot sake), I find it funny because probably at first she would not know anything about how to handle a baby (much less an alien baby) but in reality she knows some tips for dealing with superpowers from a young age(thanks to her mom).

Debbie probably knows the reader at first only because of the times Mark talks about her (as a very cool, intelligent, elegant, pretty girl...) and she definitely takes advantage of it when they meet formally 🤣

Mark totally dosen't wanna go to the other side of the world and SCREAM--

(reader being especially attached to Debbie because she reminds her of her own mother is my Roman empire).

If we look at the relationship as it is, it is quite nice and relaxed, a reader despite being half-borderline, she shows her best side when she is with Mark since in general he encourages her a lot.

Just as the reader supports Mark when his father comes back into his life, Mark supports the reader when her "father" tries to enter hers or bad times come back to haunt her.

They can definitely do bonding through daddy issues😅

The reader probably got quite used to reading in Mark's presence, before to help him with his studies/university in literature matters, and when he left the university simply to relax him a little. the reader's voice is very relaxing (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)

and also in general it is nice to see the reader talk about things she likes like epic stories/poems, how certain magical writings work, etc. just nerding out and Mark listens.

(as the person who asked or asked the question said) there are days when they are both so exhausted by their jobs/problems that they want to be together in a quiet way, so they decide to have a flight, sometimes just flying over the city, other times they have reached reach other countries, sometimes they do races, etc.

Mark learns pretty quickly not to touch the reader's cool gadgets, one time he literally almost summoned the devil, NO JOKE.

I think the only gadget Mark can touch from the reader's collection is her cape, and it's pretty funny because it's too small for him🤣 and he tries to imitate Darkwing when he puts it on.

We all love silly guy Mark.

Mark lets himself be carried like a princess by reader, FIGHT ME--

Mark has probably wanted to at least learn the basics of magic with Reader, no, he doesn't want to use magic, he simply wants to learn to defend himself against it (especially after what happened with Armstrong) and he is surprisingly good at theory.

-"Are you sure you left university?"

-"Are you sure you never went to school?"

Yep, just like Mark influences the reader for the better, the reader ended up influencing Mark's humor😅 his sarcasm has evolved to unimaginable levels.

At least now Mark has less chance of dying now that he knows more about magic.

Honestly, the story could perfectly change a lot with a character like Raven because if Mark got lost she could simply look for him with her Chakra stone and bring him to earth with a portal.

Imagine being Mark, being super beaten up and READER coming out of a PORTAL to save your skin.

or even extend her power to other dimensions! (Raven can AND does it in some comics)

She is OVERPOWERED.

probably thanks to this Cecil is even more cautious with her and even hostile, which would open the gap even more between him and Mark (you can't expect Mark to accept that his partner goes with Cecil knowing that he will want to turn her into a weapon of mass destruction ).

overall a great pair honestly, they balance each other out really well and are ADORABLE together, I just hope their parents don't cause too many problems in the future..

MATCHBREAKER

Damian had finally come to terms that he may have a crush on you. As evidenced by his large collection of photos, clothing and drawings. But, along with this came a slew of obstacles.

Now you see the biggest problem about his crush on you was that a lot of people also had an obsession with your magnificent self, mainly Garfield and Rachel. In addition to your newfound relationship with the former, Damian was in shambles.

And Rachel, not realizing Garfield was actually serious about his flirtations towards you, may or may not have created a love potion that he ended up stealing and dosing you with.

“So you’re saying that the reason why I’ve been suffering these past few days weren’t because they genuinely loved each-other, but because you. screwed. up?!”

Dick shook the magic-user back and forth. You had been outright rejecting his advances these past few days in favor of actually being loyal to your boyfriend and it hurt his poor ego; shattered his heart. Not only that but the two of you would engage in such aggressive PDA he wouldn’t be surprised if you two started boning during a fight.

“No, it’s because they’re just destined to be together— yes, Grayson! I screwed up!” Rachel shoved him off of her. Dusting her cape before readjusting it to cover her entire body again.

“And Garfield didn’t consume any of this Love Potion, you speak of?” Kori thought back to the times Garfield outright said how much he loved you. He was quite shameless but he never got serious or confident enough to properly pursue you when the entire team was after your affections.

“That’s. . . all on him. The Love Potion works with just one recipient.”

“That little—“

Damian interrupted Jamie from swearing, an even graver look on his face as he commander. “Titans. It’s time to play Matchbreaker.”

PLAN A: FE[A]R OF COMMITMENT

The plan of attack included several strategies. Each carefully thought out before hand. Well, for the most part.

“[Y/N] hates commitment. What if we scare them by making Garfield propose?” Jamie proposed, the beetle behind him pulses its lights in agreement.

“On it.” Tim got to working. In just an hour he had a site and link to lure you in. Running on pure determination to keep you away from Beast Boy, it wasn’t a challenge to make an elaborate trap by hacking into Garfield’s account and messaging you. That, and considering you’re a bit of a boomer. You didn’t really question much of what was happening.

“. . . You’re invited to a wedding with Garfield?” You read aloud as everyone watched with bated breaths.

But instead of reeling in disgust, it’s almost as if hearts started growing out of your eyes as you squealed, “Awe~! A-ccept!”

Everyone deflated in defeat. Some looked to Rachel in scorn. “I may or may not have increased the dosage to . . . almost unbreakable levels.”

“Why?!”

“As . . . practice. . .” Rachel looked away, using her cape to partially cover her face.

The rest of the titans collectively sigh.

“Nothing a little finesse can’t fix.” Dick cracked his knuckles.

PLAN C: [C]RIME OF PASSION

“[Y/N]. You look stunning today.” Nightwing approached you. A smirk on his face that would look menacing if it wasn’t from your friend.

“Thanks, Dick — I— “ You waved at him only for your lips to meet his seconds after. You struggled to push him away, but that only worsened the situation and prompted him to insert his tongue.

The worst part of the whole situation being that Garfield just walked in to witness that.

Rachel and Damian appeared behind him, courtesy of the former’s magic and with the latter holding a baton in his hands. “What’s this?”

“A crime of passion.”

The two were prepared to knock out Garfield if he did seriously attempt hurting you. Desperate times call for desperate measures after all, and since he wasn’t affected by magic everything should go according to pla-

“But they’re too good not to be shared!”

“Alright folks, get the big bird off of them!”

Dick was knocked out by Jason and Victor, effectively putting him out of commission for the next . . . several plans.

PLAN F: [F]URRY LOVE

“Okay who named this plan, exactly?”

Rachel questioned as she looked through the blueprints and diagrams on the board (Yes, they were being that thorough).

Victor coughed at her comment.

“Before we start this properly I can at least make one of his transformations last a while so they don’t . . . “ Do the hanky panky. Everyone thought in different levels of crassness in their head.

“Do it.” The entire team wordlessly agreed, if there was anything they’d do everything to stop it was you getting down and dirty with the green young adult.

After an intense mission and just as Rachel’s spell dictated, Garfield was stuck in his gorilla form. “I- I can’t turn back!”

But the heroes seemed to forget that you also had a furry form and did not mind Garfield’s in the slightest, even cheering him up by saying, “It’s fine, honey. It just means there’s more to love!“

“GET THEM AWAY FROM EACHOTHER, NOW!” Victor screeched in horror, circuits frying from the terrifying sight he’s witnessing.

After promptly blasting the two of you apart for a bit, the team members hurried into their positions for the second half of the plan.

“Quick, get the lice!” Kori hollered at Jamie who was fumbling around with the box of lice he bought online. She then lifted him overhead, allowing the blue suited man to cover his former friend (he didn’t consider him a friend anymore at this point) with the insects.

“Ack! Why am I feeling so itchy?”

“Let me help you with that—“

You two are swiftly sent to different parts of the state before things get too nasty.

PLAN L: JEA[L]OUS DAMIAN (actual name: [L]eft Nut)

It has been almost a week since they started unleashing their plans upon the couple but the Titans and co. didn’t gain much ground. Your infatuation almost worsened as the days went by, and keeping you away from Beast Boy was close to impossible when your specialty in the team was stealth and espionage.

“Demonspawn? Hang on — what are you-“ Jason, who had a perfect line up for Garfield’s scrotum raised his hands in annoyance, watching through his scope as his younger brother suddenly swooped in to grab you from your boyfriend and ruining his shot.

“Well . . . That works.”

Once Damian had you secured in his room, he slammed you unto his bed.

May it be from the shock of sudden movements or seeing your own crush hovering over you, the effects of the Love Potion broke and you leaned upwards to kiss your leader.

You two spent hours tied up together before you eventually pulled away. Meeting the youngest Robin’s still angered face you laughed awkwardly,

“Ahaha . . . I’m screwed aren’t I?”

“Oh Habibti, you can’t even imagine.”

Damian was unsure of his future with you. What he was sure of was that this little fox needed a leash, and what leader would he be if he didn’t assert his authority?

Summary: Dick Grayson tries to impress the new girl on the team by winning her a prize at the carnival.

After an incredibly demanding mission, Nightwing managed to persuade the team to attend the carnival in town for the weekend. Dick saw it as an opportunity to spend time with y/n without the pressure of a formal date.

Despite being a recent addition to the team, y/n felt like someone he had known forever. She was a speedster like his best friend Wally West, who was currently the Flash in Central City, while Barry was away on an extended off-planet mission.

While Y/n chatted with Raven and Starfire, who were eager to learn every detail about her, Beast Boy practically dragged Raven away to the Love Tunnel. Cyborg convinced Starfire to join him on rides, leaving Dick and Y/n alone.

As they strolled around, they reached the carnival games, catching Y/n's attention. Her eyes lit up as she pointed excitedly at a large purple raccoon stuffed animal hanging in one of the booths above the milk bottle game. Despite the obvious rigging, Dick knew what he had to do.

Once y/n left with the rest of the gang to grab a bite to eat, he set his plan into motion.

After an hour and a substantial amount of cash, Dick Grayson struggled to win the game, perplexing himself. Despite his skills in Gotham City, this seemingly simple carnival game proved challenging. Y/n returned, holding a red slushie, offering a blue one to Dick.

"Oh my gosh, can I try this one?" She asked, and with a feeble nod, she took the rings from his hand. Dick tried to downplay the difficulty of the game when suddenly, Y/n effortlessly landed all the rings onto the bottle necks, leaving only one dangling.

"Better luck next time, sweetheart," the carnie said.

In that moment, Dick Grayson launched a quarter at the ring, perfectly settling it around the neck of the bottle.

"You were saying," Y/n smirked.

"Sorry, Mam', I called it too soon." Y/n took the purple raccoon from him, and they headed back to Titan's Tower.

Once out of the carnival, she fell into step with him. "You were truly my hero back there, birdboy," she smiled, and he felt his heart melt a little.

"Ah, it was nothing," he tried to dismiss any effort.

"Still, I really appreciate it," she pecked his cheek and grabbed his hand as they walked back to Titan's Tower.

Speaking the native language of Tamaran, the team was just looking confused. Starfire then pointed to Robin. You nodded with a smile and kissed the boy wonder who seemed shocked. He felt shivers go down his spine when the kiss ended. “Hello friends! I am Y/N!” Robin, still in shock while the others introduced themselves.

It took some time for Robin to observe you, a Tamaranean male who looks similar to Starfire herself. Your outfit was either the same like Starfire’s but masculine or a mixture of whatever you were wearing. Either way, he set you up for a test to see how far you can go. Starfire was so happy to see her friends liking her little brother. She immediately showed you the condiment of mustard, telling you it’s amazing. Robin and the others weee disgusted seeing the alien siblings drink mustard with a happy smile.

Robin is easily impressed by your powers just like Starfire’s, he knows he couldn’t be impressed. But the way you use your powers was just something he couldn’t help but smile.

Robin doesn’t mind you being around, with months going by he still ask how you are doing on earth and how you are.

Robin stares, memorized whenever you pull off a trick you learned yourself

Beast bro is sometimes seen as a small animal on your lap, you let him and coo. Making him rub himself against your body with a goofy smile.

Beast boy jokingly calls you “Prince, my Prince, my majesty.” And such, all because you are also Royal like your sisters. Though he couldn’t help but blush when you kiss his cheek in gratitude for making you laugh.

He’s definitely gonna buy a joke book.

You and Starfire mixed together are a dangerous combo, especially with Tamaranean fighting tactics.

It’s been months with you staying here, Robin didn’t want to immediately make you an official member of the team. But with how you showed your loyalty and love for the team and team members. He pulled you aside, a soft smile on his face as he puts a communicator with a T on it.

You were officially the newest member of the team!

Extra: Phoebe's mother met Trigon due to an accidental summons from Phoebe's mom and her group of friends. After they did "it," Phoebe's mom found out she was pregnant, but she also found out Trigon's real intentions. After Phoebe's mother found out about Trigon and his plans for their daughter, she immediately found a way to hide Phoebe from her father and immediately set her up in an orphanage where she was far away from Trigon's grasp. After Trigon found out what Phoebe's mother did, he immediately killed her and met with Raven's mother shortly after. As Phoebe grew up, so did her powers. She was adopted by a foster family who didn't exactly like her except for the foster father. One day, as a kid, Phoebe was in a heated argument with her foster mother, and things actually got heated. Her house was set ablaze, and her whole family was burnt in the house except for her. It was like the flames were protecting her, and then she lived her life on the streets. She tries not to let her emotions run wild so she can avoid hurting anyone else. That was until she met Raven and now they help each other.

(Before Phoebe and Raven were born, there was a prophecy about them.

A Raven and Phoenix shall be born. Good or evil, a line torn. Where darkness turns to light by blazing fire. The world holds it breath, for it is dire. Two birds shall take flight, one in the dark and one in fire. Both born apart, but they will reunite.
