I appreciate Yan Ling immediately noticing Nings crush on Zhang Zhe but not noticing the weird ass relationship she has with his teacher/cousin despite witnessing it firsthand many times.

Ning stares at ZZ once in admiration and YL is like “yes you love him” meanwhile Xie Wei and her are eye fucking in literally every scene and YL is like “yes this is a normal student-teacher relationship.”

How are the pushover emperor and the immoral business guy the only people who have noticed this. Y’all are supposed to be smart!!

#you know I could go all meta and be like #Yan Ling only recognises blind admiration and devotion as love #because that’s what he feels for Ning #rather than XW and Ning’s weird mutual understanding and tension #which YL would not be familiar with #and so he perceives it as fear #and could also go into how YL perceives Ning as his innocent best friend to be protected #and not the mature and intense female she actually is #so incapable of having the weird tension filled relationship #so he makes her the victim of the situation by making it fear #whereas Ning having a crush and admiration for a guy #still fits within his perception of her #maybe one day I’ll go into how Ning is continuously downgraded and underestimated #by everyone who has affection for her #except for XW #who views her as the autonomous and cunning woman she is #and how it fits within the feminism themes of SOKP #because she purposefully plays into these different female archetypes #both to manipulate people #but also because she will always be put into these boxes anyway #but I’m not gonna do that today #that’s for the end of the series #story of kunning palace
