I’m glad Dana answered my question about Ratador because my partner and I thought he was cut content of Odalia turning Alador into a rat out or rage or something. Turns out it was an inside joke about Alador’s t-rex pose (he’s so autistic coded, love this for him) looking like that of a rat & now he’s also Alador’s palisman.

Alador headcanons because why not? (Finale)

I think his nationality is German American mix, but I guess that doesn’t apply to the boiling isles so it’s just a headcanon.

Alador’s palisman is named Ratador, but his friends call it Scrunkly and the name stuck around long enough for the next gen to catch on, now they all call it Scrunkly. (I just want Ratador to be called Scrunkly.)

Alador loves it when people appreciate his work but only when it comes from his heart (not literally). People loved his weapons and home security but Alador never cared for that part of his work as much since it was all forced on him to make, he personally loves it when people like his genuine work.(Less of a unique headcanon but I agree with it so it’s staying.)

The first invention he ever made when he was six was a mini canon, which he used to get back at his bullies on the playground. His second invention was a hearing aid for his grandpa. (He’s was grandpa’s boy.)

Has a fursona of an elegant moth cat hybrid named Frufru. (Made his own fursuit that he only wears in the privacy of his home.)

I like this headcanon

It reminds me of this book series I used to read called Beezus and Ramona. It was about these two sisters, the older sister was named Beatrice but the younger sister Ramona couldn't pronounce that so she calls her Beezus. And now EVERYONE calls her Beezus.

Alador is initially confused when the miniature goggles he made for Ratador fuse with his staff form for the first time. He didn’t know that could happen, and is suddenly scientifically curious.

I've had it since before, and I really like to think that Alador's palisman is that rat that appeared in Clouds on the Horizon, and that was carved with the help of Eda.

because I also have linked the headcanon that Eda, Lilith and Alador are related (distant, but it's in the family)

Say; I think that the Palisman Adoption Day already existed before, and at that time to talk about ambitions, Alador doesn't obtain a palisman and he becomes tense and fearful with the idea that his family will punish him bc of that

But Eda would arrive with a "calm old, dud" and with the help of a piece of Palistrom tree (from Dell) and a knife

Alador giving palisman!Ratador goggles that eventually fuse with his staff design gave me an idea last night.

Palismen accessories! Tiny little pieces of clothing that palismen can wear. If a palisman likes wearing accessories, one signature item in particular, then eventually that accessory becomes part of their staff design through palisman magic.

Okay, probably a normal rat then.

But hear me out. Alador carves Ratador as his palisman, and a while after Ratador comes to life, Alador decides to give him the little goggles.

Bizarrely, after enough time, the goggles become fused with Ratador's design and turn to wood with Ratador when he turns into his staff form.

Alador isn't sure how that happened, but he's not going to question it. Ratador likes the goggles, and that's all that matters.

Okay that would also be funny lol

However I have one (1) issue and that is that Alador wouldn’t not question it. He is a man of science. He’d want to know why it happened and try to replicate it. He’d be trying to experiment getting other accessories to fuse with palismen. Did it happen because Ratador likes the goggles? Would that happen to any palisman? He must solve this mystery. Amity has to be constantly vigilant so he doesn’t put goggles on ghost.

Amity's parents having Ghost made for her, only to then turn around and expect her to make it into the Emperor's Coven (And thus, have to turn Ghost over to Belos) via Coven tryouts set a few weeks (At the very most) later is horrifyingly cruel.

Which is perfectly in-character for Odalia. But Alador? Well, I suppose he hadn't started trying to be a better father by that point... But wasn't it confirmed at some point that Ratador is his palismen? Surely that means that the guy understands how bonded a Witch and their Palismen are and wouldn't want his daughter to have to watch hers be snatched away? Even at his worst, Alador didn't seem to be for blatant cruelty for no reason.

Maybe Amity's parents thought that her magic would get stronger, faster if she had a palismen? She was reliant on using a wand to learn new spells once upon a time after all.

Actually, I can see Odalia not thinking anything of getting her daughter a palismen, only to expect her to lose it a short time later just to curry favor with the emperor. That sounds like something Odalia would do with or without Alador's approval.

i think that alador doesnt know about the whole palisman eating thing since he seemed pretty in the dark about all the day of unity stuff but odalia def knows and just doesnt care

Been thinking about Alador's rat from COTH recently.

Would it be funnier if he just had a pet rat that randomly looked like him and he just made it little goggles like his? Or would it be funnier if Ratador was actually his palisman and he intentionally carved it to look like him?

Ratador is so funny to me. I think about him all the time and especially this comic.

I can’t find the post but I vaguely recall someone confirming it was not a palisman, but I could be wrong about that. I still think making goggles and a wig for a random rat is way funnier though hehe
