It was an unnaturally hot day in mid-April in Vancouver. People were treating it as of was a summer day in July. Everyone was out in shorts and dresses, having picnics or tanning, or swimming in spring chilled water of the Pacific.

You and Quinn were no exception. The beautiful day had coordinated with one of Quinns' rest days, which had all miraculously fallen on a Saturday. Meaning you didn't have to work. All in all, it was a very happy coincidence that you and Quinn decided to take full advantage of.

Quinn had proposed going out for breakfast, which had turned into going out for brunch because Quinn kept getting distracted by how gorgeous you looked in your floral printed sundress. He had eventually just tossed you onto the couch, bunched your dress around your hips, and ate you out till you were shaking beneath him.

Brunch was amazing. Quinn took you to an outdoor rooftop restaurant that served the best waffles you had ever eaten. When you leaned across the table with a piece of waffle on your fork for Quinn to try, he grinned and winked at you as he closed his lips over the fork suggestively.

Your cheeks flush all the way down to your chest and it made Quinn's grin grow even wider. After brunch the two of you decide to walk the coastline. You hand is wrapped around Quinn's arm as the two of you walk the park, playing the game of trying to decipher the detailed life stories of strangers.

"Oh, ice cream!" You jump excitedly pointing at the ice cream stand that has a long line, "please, Quinn, can we?" You ask, eyes glittering with hope.

Quinn chuckles, "of course we can baby," he says pressing a kiss to your forehead. It's the moments like this that make him wonder why it took him so long to tell you he loved you.

You tug him over the the line, chattering excitedly about the prospective flavours. Where you were always down to try a new flavour, Quinn stuck with what he liked. He would never tell you, but one of the reasons he did it was so if you were disappointed in the flavour you got, he would trade with you because he knew you also liked his flavour.

"Ooh Quinn! I think they have raspberry white chocolate!" You grin shaking his arm eagerly.

"That what you gonna get?" He asks, unable to keep the smile off his face. Seeing you happy makes him happy. And with the combination of the sunny weather, he can't keep the smile off his face.

"I don't know yet, I'll decide when we get there. What are you getting?"

"Take a wild guess," he snorts, flicking you in the forehead.

"Meanie," you huff, bumping his chin with your head playfully.

Soon enough it's your turn to order, "I'll have a scoop of strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone, and he'll have a scoop of cookie dough in a waffle cone as well, please."

The poor teenage girl who looks like she hates her life, scribbles down your order with a nod. You shuffle around your purse for your card, but Quinn is already slapping a twenty dollar bill on the counter.

You snatch it off the counter quickly with a glare, and slap your card in its place. Quinn grabs your card off the table and replaces it with another bill thats gone just as fast as the first one. The girl looks ready to strangle you both. Quinn pulls out another twenty, and half wrestles you out of the way while he hands it to the girl directly.

"Keep the change," he mumbles apologetically, dragging you out of line to wait for your ice cream.

"Quinn," you turn on him with a glare, "what was that for?"

Quinn plays confused, "What do you mean?"

"I was going to pay!" You huff, crossing your arms over your chest. Quinn rolls his eyes, mimicking your position.

"Babe, please, not this again." He groans

"Quinn, I asked you to get ice cream, that means I have to pay." You grumble.

"I say this with all my love babe," Quinn says squishing your cheeks between his calloused palms, "That's a stupid fucking rule. I'm your boyfriend, I'm always gonna pay."

"But I don't want-"

"I have a strawberry cheese cake, and a cookie dough in waffle cones?" The girl calls out, cutting your arguemnt short.

You smile, at her thankfully while Quinn grabs the ice cream. He hands you yours and slings his arm over your shoulders as the two of you continue your walk.

"Why does it bother you so much when I pay for things?" Quinn asks seriously, taking a lick of his ice cream.

"I'm a grown adult." You say grumpily, "I can pay for my own things."

Quinn flicks your ear, "Don't give me that bullshit. Tell me why it bothers you so much."

"I feel bad," you mumble.

"Why do you feel bad?" Quinn pushes, offering you a lick of his ice cream. You take it gratefully, offering yours in return. Quinn happily takes a lick, humming in approval.

"Dunno, I just do" You shrug, "I don't want you wasting your money on me."

Quinn looks slightly offended "Baby, its not a waste. I love paying for you. If you wouldn't kill me for it do you know how long ago I would've given you a credit card on my account?"

"Oh God, please never do that," you groan, covering your face with your free hand.

"You still haven't given me a real reason as to why you don't like it when I pay." He says again, fingers tracing comforting shapes on your collarbones.

You sigh, head dropping against his shoulder, "I don't want everyone to see me as a the girl who's with you cause of your money."

Quinn looks at you incredulously, "are you serious?"

You nod sheepishly.

"Babe, who gives a fuck what random strangers think? You're my girl, I wanna spoil you in every way possible."

"I know, I know, but for some reason, it really gets to me." You sigh.

"Well, you'd better stop letting it get to you because I'm paying for everything for the rest of our lives," Quinn says dramatically.

You snort, elbowing him in the ribs lightly, "ok, hot shot."

"Seriously baby, if that's the only reason, don't let it bother you."

"I'll try," you say, taking a bite of your cone.

"You'd better." He says, pressing a kiss to your forehead. Suddenly, there's something cold sliding down your cheek. You can help but screech, jumping away from Quinn. He's laughing as you thumb a glob of cookie dough ice cream off your face.

"How dare you!" You gasp, licking the ice cream off your thumb. You dip your finger into your ice cream to retaliate, but before you can wipe it on his face, he's grabbing your wrist and sucking your ice cream coated ginger into his mouth. Your brain short-circuits, cheeks turning a brilliant shade of red.

Quinn smirks around your finger and lets it fall from his lips. "What's wrong, baby?" He teases, like he didn't just do what he did in public.

"You are so bad," you mutter, still blushing.

"Only for you baby," he grins, pressing a kiss to the side of your head, "only for you."

winter holidays at the torres’ family house were always fun. you got to spend two entire weeks with your best friend and both your families, and your only concern was whether you should go ice skating, sledging, or just spend the day by the fireplace watching movies.

on the other hand, this time of the year was the hardest for you to hide your ever-growing feelings for your best friend. it was becoming increasingly harder to pretend you didn't feel anything past friendship while he was by your side pretty much 24/7.

it was one of those chilly nights, and you were having dinner with your families. ferran immediately got up when arantxa asked you to bring dessert to the table. his gentleman manners taking over, even though you clearly didn't need any help with the task.

ferran noticed you were significantly quieter than usual during dinner, lost in your own thoughts. your feelings were eating you alive, his smile, the sparkle in his eyes whenever he was talking to you only made your thoughts grow louder, and the irrevocable need to grab his shoulders and scream ‘can’t you see how much you mean to me?’ was only getting stronger.

his hand met yours before you could grab the plate, your eyes instinctively met his, filled with worry. “what did i do wrong y/n?”

ferran’s eyes didn't leave yours for a second, desperately searching for an answer in them. his hand was still on yours, his thumb drawing small circles on your skin.

“you didn't do anything wrong, i’m just feeling down tonight. please don’t worry fer.” from the look he gave you, you could tell he knew there was something else going on, but he didn't add a word.

when his eyes finally left yours, you let out a deep breath you didn't know you were holding, and noticed his eyes focused somewhere else; the ceiling.

ferran’s gaze fell back on you. he let go of your hand to point at where he was staring, right above the two of you.

mistletoe. you could tell it had been taped to the ceiling not so long ago, and you already had an idea of who was behind this idea. and what a cruel idea that was, what if ferran just outwardly expressed his disgust at the mere thought of kissing you? you didn't know if you’d be able to hold back the tears if it happened.

his hand tilted your chin up to make your eyes meet once again. his face was dangerously close to yours, so close you could count every beauty mark, every freckle on the face you adored.

“we don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.” his voice was soft, almost whisper-like. if you were to kiss, which ferran really wanted, he wished to share this moment with you and not with both your families eavesdropping on you like they always did around you.

unable to find the words to answer him, you stood on your tiptoes to close the gap between your lips. softly at first, afraid he would vanish into thin air like when you’d wake up from another vivid dream with him as the main character.

but none of that happened. ferran’s grip on your jaw only got tighter. yet his touch was still loving, just enough strength to show his yearning for you. when you finally pulled back from his enticing hold, ferran had a puzzled look on his face.

“are you wearing chapstick? it tastes like…” ferran licked his lips, trying to guess the flavour of your chapstick still lingering on his own lips.

he took the opportunity to kiss you again, lips meeting yours once again in a quick peck. “raspberry?”

you shake your head, faking a disappointed expression on your face. “cherry, close enough though.”

“can i get another cherry kiss before going back?” this unexpected chain of events almost made you forget what you were here for in the first place. you grabbed the plate, before kissing the corner of ferran's mouth. which brought a frown on his face, before remembering he’ll get other opportunities to get a better taste of your chapstick later.

when you both stepped back to the dining room, arantxa looked at you both with a knowing look before winking at you, not trying to hide her implication in the mysterious case of the mistletoe. while your parents were still in a deep conversation. unaware of the moment you just shared, the heat rushing on your face and ferran’s beet-red ears.

What uncommon/common fear do they have? If you ask him, he'll try to convince you it's something stupid like bicycles or his teacher's pinky toe after the time she wore sandals to class and it poked out over the strap, but actually he's afraid of his own thoughts and dying alone. Speaking of, anyone single? Wanna make out for a while?

Do they have any pet peeves? People who take everything so seriously. Painful bores. People who are obsessed with World War 2

What are 3 items you can find in their bedroom? Rugby boots with mud still in the studs and getting all over the hardwood floor. Charcoal dust and mounds of sketchbooks, three coffee cups he neglected to return to the kitchen two weeks ago.

What do they notice first in a person? Something in their eye that tells him they know how to have fun and get up to trouble. A sense of humour, a nice mouth and teeth.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how high is their pain tolerance? 5. Average, baby!

Have they broken any bones? Of course. He got his hands on a skateboard at 10 and immediately tripped down a flight of concrete steps and shattered his arm bone. Being in a cast was cool though, everyone like, signed it and shit.

How would a stranger likely describe them? Wild, manic, troublesome (words taken directly from parent teacher reports)

Are they a night owl or a morning bird? Surprisingly, a morning person. He got used to being up early to get Ivy ready for school when his mom started going to work at 7:30. He stays up late sometimes, sure, but his inner alarm clock always has him wide awake at 7.

What is a flavor they hate and a flavor they love? Jude is not picky, he's an eater, but don't come at him with those big, wet, brown mushrooms they give you with your hotel breakfast. Not in a million years. Flavours he loves is broad, so I'll choose his ice cream preferences. Pistachio, sea salt, raspberry, cherry.

Do they have any hobbies? Drawing, rugby, playstation, hanging out with friends.

Boom, surprise birthday party! How do they react to surprises? He is overjoyed! You guys did this for me? Whaaaaat?

Do they like to wear jewelry? Have you seen his cute lil earrings?

Do they have neat or messy handwriting? Neat enough, c'mon, he's an artiste. His pen control is exemplary

What are two emotions they feel the most? Boredom and melancholy (in private only, thanks)

What kind of accent do they have? The weirdest Dublin/American hybrid. At this stage of the story he's pretty much just an Irish guy who says a couple of vowels in a weird-ish way.

OK Americans, with my last few visits south over the border, it has come to my attention that y'all don't have some staple junk foods/candies available to you.

Smarties - Like an M&M, but a flatter disc shape and with more candy coating. Colours tend to be less vibrant than M&Ms. The crunch is much more satisfying and the ratio of candy to chocolate makes them far superior to M&Ms for me!!

Mars Bars - creamy nougat and caramel coated in chocolate. If you're thinking wow! that just sounds like a Milky Way, you'd be correct. AND WRONG! The whole reason I'm doing this list is because I just ate a Milky Way and was supremely disappointed when Mars bars are one of my fave chocolate bars

Ketchup Chips - A Canadian classic. Found at every barbecue and potluck ever. Not my favourite but some people love them! Similar to salt and vinegar but with more tomato-y flavour

Coffee Crisp - As a sweet coffee-obsessed country I was shocked when I learned they didn't exist in the states, and now I have become a coffee crisp mule for friends. A not so sweet chocolate bar that tastes like a chocolate frappiccino with a shot of espresso in it. Absolutely delicious. Also very crunchy if you like a crunchy candy bar.

Wine Gums - Another surprising one for me. Don't be fooled by the name, they are not wine flavoured. Wine Gums are an extra chewy gummy candy with a variety shapes and fruit flavours in a bag. Not as sweet as most gummies, and definitely delicious!

All Dressed Chips - I have also become a mule for these. They land somewhere between barbecue and salt and vinegar flavoured chips. Always part of a chip selection. These are one of my favourite flavours of chips, and any Canadian knows that the Ruffles branded ones hit different.

Aero Bars - Now I believe these are more available than the others in the states, but I include them because you don't get the strange flavour varieties. And because they're not widely known. The basic bar is milk chocolate with air bubbles inside. It makes for a very satisfying feeling when you let them melt on your tongue.

Hickory Sticks - literally just a stick version of a plain potato chip. But there's something about them. They have a subtle smoky flavour. Hickory, if you will. And it drives you to finish a bag in under 10 minutes. Once you start eating them you cannot stop. They will be stuck to your greasy fingers and you will look feral.

Swedish Berries - Again, I am flabbergasted that on some research y'all are apparently being deprived of the Maynard's gummies??? I picked this one off the lists because it's the most ubiquitous, although my least favourite of their gummies. They are red-berry flavour in the same way that blue raspberry is blue-berry flavour. Shaped like little raspberries but they do not taste like raspberries. Similar flavour to bigfoot gummies. Excellent for decorating cupcakes to look like nipples.

Kinder Surprise - You've all heard of it. You've probably tried other Kinder products. However, nothing hits like a Kinder Egg. The chocolate with the layer of milk and white, the fun of figuring out the toy and how to put it together. Sorry these got banned and not, well, everything else...

Hiiiiii I love all of these, tbf I haven’t really thought about their favourite ice cream flavours either but it’s fun! Here’s my thoughts. Disclaimer: I don’t really know a lot of American ice cream flavours lol

Isaac: he’d probably like chocolate ngl. A bit basic but alright. Nothing that stands out too much. I feel like he would also like vanilla. Either that or something stupid like bubblegum. He’s too done to care, he’ll get whatever he pleases lol.

Magdalene: something rich like salted caramel, or a very fancy vanilla. Rocky road. Cookie dough. Or all of the above, together. She has a huge sweet tooth and likes mixing and matching.

Cain: He likes it simple, so I guess vanilla could go. Or rum raisin because he’s an old man.

Judas: doesn’t really like sweets in general, so he doesn’t really have a favourite ice cream. If he had to choose he’d probably go with coffee or something not overtly sweet, like pistachio or dark chocolate. Always gets the smallest cone/cup available.

Eve: isn’t really one for sweets in general unless she’s feeling really down, in which case she’d eat a whole tub in one sitting. Likes chocolate chip, but when she’s feeling especially shitty she will branch out with stuff like caramel, chocolate etc. always with chunks tho, she loves chunks.

Samson: I know Americans make a difference between ice cream and gelato but I literally never knew what it was. Anyway Samson likes gelato. Probably cherry idk. There’s a super good cassata gelato at my local supermarket and I feel like he’d like that one but I don’t really know how to describe it lmao.

Azazel: another sweet tooth. I feel like he wouldn’t really have a favourite flavor bc he’d like way too many to decide. He’s always loved human food and is always down to try anything. I feel like he’d be interested in more uncommon flavours like popcorn (idk if its common over there, but I’ve never seen it here) or that raspberry and rosemary one i tried once. Or sea salt. WAIT almond ice cream with dried figs. That’s the one.

Lazarus: I have no idea how black walnut would taste. But I trust you.

Eden doesn’t eat, you’re right, but they might partake in the Human Activities from time to time. And when they’ll become human (spoiler) they’ll get to try a lot of different things! I feel like they’d have a very limited palate tho, kinda like a small child. So nothing too complicated, like strawberry.

Lilith: STRAWBEBBY one time I had a very good strawberry float with prosecco and it was so her. Fwendy would appreciate the cookie dough chunks tho, they can munch on them together u.u

Apollyon can’t eat :( but he’d like very basic flavours. There’s a flavour over here called fiordilatte that’s even more basic than vanilla, it literally tastes like milk, I think he would like that.

Bethany also strikes me as a mint chocolate chip girlie, I can see that. Lazarus knows that and always keeps it in the freezer so she doesn’t have to go without u.u

Jacob: mhmmmmmm very hard to figure out. I don’t really remember if he liked sweets or not, but peanut butter strikes that balance of not too sweet but still great so I can see him liking it.

Esau: isn’t Neapolitan like three flavours together mhmmmm he feels like a frozen yogurt kind of guy. With extra protein and fruit toppings.

Fun fact: I did not mean to make Kirby's clothes resemble the nb flag. I was just looking for colours that would not break my colour palette, and it happened by accident. But it is too funny not to keep it. Plus, it works, so why fix something that ain't broken?

Ice cream/flower lore is under keep reading

The difference between vanilla and French vanilla is that the latter is made with more egg yolk and is more of a frozen custard than ice cream. Regular vanilla focuses on the cream paired with the vanilla taste. The difference between Gelato and ice cream is that Gelati is made from the base of custard and lacks eggs. There are also limited in flavours but they are smoother in texture.

So, you might probably be wondering what are Kirby and Fluff eating in the cover art. In Germany, this popular dessert called Spaghettieis was created by Dario Fontanella in the 60s after he immigrated from Italy to Germany. It is basically just ice cream/gelato made to look like spaghetti. You strain the vanilla ice cream through a pasta maker, a spätzle knife or a potato ricer to make it look like pasta. Pour strawberry sauce on it (or raspberry if the strawberry syrup is too sweet for you) and top it off with almond flakes, rasped coconut or grated white chocolate to mimic cheese. If you want to have 'meatballs' with your 'spaghetti', you can add chocolate balls to it. It is as simple as that. Usually, it is not served in a large bowl like that as it is in the cover art. Been conceptualizing a minecraft modpack of my own, heavily inspired by Raspberry Flavoured (which imo is peak minecraft rn but thats besides the point) but, something im always caught up on, when it comes to progression and amount of content, is...

the item loss system. I know i've talked about it before, but let me walk you through some thoughts ive had: So, keeping in mind I want to use a gravestone-like mod for keeping items on death

"Oh, enchanting tables working with chiseled bookshelves! So once you find an enchanted book, you can just access that enchant pretty easily forever! I love that. I think I want reusable armor trims, too. Since I don't like having to duplicate them with diamonds" Ah, but... that doesn't quite fit with keeping your items on death... because then, its almost TOO easy, being TOO nice. whats the point of being able to trim more armors, if you're not gonna ever lose your armor? and... also, I think delving more into perma-progression like blocks that allow you new recipes, to quickly get back to where you were in terms of gear you lost... is a really fun direction! So lets go with losing items again! But ah! Now... I do have the fun reusable enchanting system, and I even get cooler progression! But certain items REALLY suck to lose now... like tridents, or anything made with echo shards. Because they aren't renewable. Any special reward / incentive that really has deep one-of-a-kindness to it like that... is a massive pain to lose. Don't want to be THAT cruel so, okay, fine. no item loss. you keep your stuff. but ... that makes resource progression less interesting. Who cares about diamonds anymore when you just need a few here and there to repair your tools? Or to duplicate an armor trim? Plus, what to do with enchanting..."

so, caught between a rock and a hard place. I'm unsure if I'd want to keep all my items on death if it meant I'd have to gather diamonds for freakin armor trim duplication lmao. I think I'd rather have an entire progression system designed around getting stuff back. I guess its just like, you want to put the permanence either into the item loss / lack of item loss system, or into the item gain system. Not both - that'd be too much Gain without much Need for many things I think, as I see minecraft clearly going the route of designing incentives around NOT losing items, and clearly eventually having something closer to keepinventory on by default... I'd rather design something ELSE! and so yknow what? incentives can just be... renewable!! or reusable!! yes, you can lose things. but you'll get em back easily! an armor trim, you just make new armor and trim it easy peasy, no needing to get a new trim. you have plenty of Steel from having gained access to the Nether now ! so. could make the mace just need a breeze rod and some iron. so it still is gated to trial chambers... but, put more emphasis on its enchants for its power level and, more things could be Stuff you Place Down. since you cant actually lose those! unlike items you keep on you! ...but then, if i go with this, that might mean i get way less cool modded content to really feasibly play with. a cool rare mob that drops a cool rare helmet? Well that just doesnt work.. so i have to pick between cool helmets and rare trinkets you wouldnt wanna lose... or a cool engaging enchanting and gear progression system! Bwah! I'm sure theres a middleground but. That sounds like the MOST headache inducing one, for ME anyways. to design.

♡ strawberry green tea, peach hibiscus, raspberry herbal are some of my favourites that I drink when trying to avoid sweeteners. try mixed berry teas because their flavour profile is strong enough to sweeten without overpowering. I also love love love jasmine green tea 🍵

Sorry to have like, objectively bad taste, but first person shooter was so much fun. Definitely going in the favourites list.

Bits that were awful: Mulders sunglasses and the weird insane sexism of the whole thing. It's like, they tried to make a point about how misogynistic and male-led gaming spaces/video games are, which is true, and the frustration that was shared between Scully and Phoebe was pretty good- like the fruit-flavoured soda water of feminism... just a tiny hint of it, if you close your eyes and think of raspberries. Whatever moral messaging might have slightly come through is, however, steamrolled by the constant stupid jokes and gags, like the giggling policemen, Scully's image being used for the 3D scan of the new sexy video game woman at the end. Oh, the mirth. And I mean, I guess the costumes were bad but- no. I didn't care. I am totally impervious to bad sci-fi. We should put more characters in laser tag body vests.

Bits that were great: The way I smiled when the lone gunmen walked into the building was actually probably embarrassing. I love those guys so much so of course I'm going to love this episode. I love when Byers has to get between Scully and Ivan because he knows full well she Can and Will kick him in the ribs. Not to mention Scully fucking it up in the virtual reality world despite not being a gamer. I want her on my Splatoon squadron. N-ZAP'85 main, coming in clutch with the Tacticooler I'm sure. I just really like stupid shit, I'm easily amused and entertained, and this was shit of the stupidest order and I thought it was fun-if we forget the overtly sexualised imagery. (Story of all my fandoms, I'm afraid.)
