#tstransition – auf dem Weg in die Zukunft

Das Jahr fängt gut an: Seit dem 1.1.2025 tragen Max Bauer, Tommaso Bitossi, Christian Frenzel, Daniel Kiehlmann, Markus Krauß, Raphael Lafargue, Jochen Lam, Krista Palen, Matthias Rammig und Felix Thumm offiziell den neuen Titel „Partner“ bei Transsolar und Transplan. Mit den zehn Partner:innen aus der eigenen Belegschaft hat sich das Unternehmen breiter aufgestellt, um mit solider Grundlage den Generationswechsel kontinuierlich und offen zu beschreiten. Der Weg in die Zukunft, den wir #tstransition nennen, ist ein Prozess der schrittweisen Übernahme von Verantwortung und Führungsaufgaben durch die neue Generation, wobei jüngere erfahrene Transsolarier:innen den ursprünglichen Gesellschafterkreis erweitern. Nun entwickeln die Geschäftsführer und Partner gemeinsam den spannenden weiteren Weg in die Zukunft.

On June 13, 2019, the IESNYC announced the recipients of the 2019 Lumen Awards at the 51st annual Lumen Gala at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers. Thirteen Lumen Awards were presented and the winners were publicly recognized for their professionalism, excellence and originality in lighting design.

#tstransition – on the way to the future

The year is off to a good start: Max Bauer, Tommaso Bitossi, Christian Frenzel, Daniel Kiehlmann, Markus Krauß, Raphael Lafargue, Jochen Lam, Krista Palen, Matthias Rammig and Felix Thumm have held the title of “Partner” at Transsolar and Transplan since January 1, 2025.

With these ten new partners selected from our own ranks, we begin the process of continuous generational change with a solid, broad foundation. The path to the future, which we call #tstransition, is a process of younger, experienced Transsolarians expanding the original group of shareholders, followed by gradual assumption of responsibility and leadership by this new generation. The existing partners, managing directors, and new partners are now working together to develop an exciting way forward.

#tstransition – en route vers l'avenir

L'année commence bien : depuis le 1er Janvier 2025, Max Bauer, Tommaso Bitossi, Christian Frenzel, Daniel Kiehlmann, Markus Krauß, Raphael Lafargue, Jochen Lam, Krista Palen, Matthias Rammig et Felix Thumm portent officiellement le nouveau titre de « partenaire » chez Transsolar et Transplan.

Avec ces dix partenaires issus de son propre personnel, nous entamons le processus de changement générationnel continu en s’appuyant sur des bases solides et étendues. Le chemin vers l'avenir, que nous appelons #tstransition, est un processus de prise en charge progressive des responsabilités et des tâches de direction par la nouvelle génération, des Transsolariens plus jeunes et expérimentés, venant élargir le groupe initial d’actionnaires. Les directeurs et les partenaires, actuels et nouveaux, travaillent désormais ensemble à tracer une voie vers l’avenir.

#tstransition Raphael Lafargue: Exploring new horizons – using physical principles and calculations to turn concepts into practice

I love exploring new horizons and am fascinated by calculating natural phenomena to utilize them in a technically meaningful way. This is an ongoing development that continuously presents new opportunities. Perhaps there's a connection to a previous career aspiration of becoming a pilot, as a climate engineer allows me to navigate boundary areas, relying on physics and robust technology.

Even art installations often require the utmost precision, demanding a detailed understanding of physical phenomena to achieve desired effects seemingly free of technology My aim is to devise the optimal solution and support the strategy with calculations to make it happen. For instance, in the Louvre Abu Dhabi, we enabled the spectacular portrayal of incoming light and recreated it for the installation Lightscapes. Another time, we became "air vortex" designers, allowing helium filled Mylar fishes to silently float in endless circles through exhibition rooms.

In-depth insights into phenomena serve as a basis for future-proof usage in my current projects related to built environments, facilitating uncomplicated technology, low-tech or passive measures. Enthusiasm for physics and technology allows me to look optimistically into the future, as they form the foundation for forthcoming sustainable innovation.

Raphael Lafargue is one of the ten new Associate Partners who will acquire shares in Transsolar and Transplan in the near future. With the ten new Associate Partners, we begin to diversify and build a solid foundation on which the generational transition can advance in a continuous and open way.

#tstransition Raphael Lafargue: Neue Horizonte erkunden – Mit physikalischen Prinzipien und Berechnungen vom Konzept zur Umsetzung

Ich liebe es, neue Horizonte zu entdecken und es fasziniert mich, natürliche Phänomene zu berechnen, um sie technisch sinnvoll zu nutzen. Das ist eine fortlaufende Entwicklung, die immer wieder neue Möglichkeiten eröffnet. Vielleicht gibt es da eine Verbindung zu einem früheren Berufsziel, Pilot zu werden, denn als Klimaingenieur kann ich mich auch Grenzbereichen annähern und verlasse mich dabei auf Physik und solide Technik. Auch Kunstinstallationen erfordern gern höchste Präzision, wofür wir physikalische Phänomene im Detail verstehen müssen, um gewünschte Effekte scheinbar technikfrei zu ermöglichen. Mein Ziel ist, die beste Lösung auszuarbeiten und die Strategie mit soliden Berechnungen zu untermauern. Wir haben zum Beispiel im Louvre Abu Dhabidie spektakuläre Darstellung des eintretenden Lichts möglich gemacht und dies für die Installation Lightscapes in nachgestellter Form ausgearbeitet. Ein anderes Mal wurden wir "air vortex" Designer und ließen in Ausstellungsräumen mit Helium gefüllte Mylar (Polyester) Fische lautlos in endlosen Kreisen durch die Luft schweben. Vertiefte Erkenntnisse über Phänomene sind Basis, auch für zukunftsfähige Nutzung in Bauprojekten, sie sorgen für unkomplizierte Technik oder passive Maßnahmen sowie effizientere Einsatzmöglichkeiten. Begeisterung für Physik und Technik lässt mich optimistisch in die Zukunft blicken, denn sie sind Grundlage für kommende nachhaltige Innovation.

Raphael Lafargue ist einer der zehn neuen Assoziierten, die sich aus der Belegschaft auf den Weg machen, sich in naher Zukunft an Transsolar und Transplan zu beteiligen. Mit der erweiterten Gesellschaft beginnen wir, uns zu diversifizieren und ein solides Fundament zu schaffen, auf dem der Generationswechsel kontinuierlich und offen voranschreiten kann.

Raphael Lafargue: "The question is, what does a KlimaEngineer do for a living?"

Raphael Lafargue’s excellent presentation about the deeper meaning of KlimEngineering recorded at the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival 2018 is now online. Why watch it? Raphael does not only unveil what a Klimaengineer does for a living – as for example making fish “swim” in a museum’s space – but takes the audience on a trip around the world showing the diversity of the work and the local identity of each solution. He gives detailed information about the main concept features, explaining for example how the ‘rain of light’ in the Abu Dhabi Louvre works, a project, that Raphael worked on intensively at the beginning of his career within our company. Raphael’s natural curiosity and deep knowledge of physical phenomena and his engineering capabilities become obvious in this lecture, that aims to excite others of the possibilities we have in designing a better built environment.

Raphael Lafargue, our expert on Outdoor Comfort was at the opening of the exhibition "Post-Oil City: The History of the City’s Future” at the Dar al Athar al Islamiyyah (DAI) yesterday. He is holding a workshop today in Kuwait City. The goal is to explain and demonstrate that outdoor comfort is one of the main ingredients in a successful outdoor space design and acts as a catalyzer for social sustainability.
