Varian is a social drinker but will usually bring his own or only take sealed bottles from trusted friends. He usually has to drink the "strong stuff" or a lot of it to get drunk instead of buzzed. When he finally gets there he is usually either flirty or very competitive. Sometimes both! Depends on the company or what games involved.

Varian is also very good at batting away those who try and pressure others. His friend Ransetsu for instance doesn't drink, he's not sure of the exact reason since he's rather private, but Varian will defend him. Ran is nice enough to humor him if he's asked out and partake of something non-alcoholic while people watching.

The large Au Ra has also seems to become my Viera's favorite perch. Claiming Ran's lap to be "The best seat in the house!"

Our Lunarcon date in a nutshell!

We both took pictures of our boys hanging out at some of the venues. The Cryptid Cafe, an art party at the Greystone Cellar and Tavern, and then we finished with a night on the beach. Honestly one of the most fun days I've had in a long time.

@discountdps and my eternal bonding ceremony! It was gorgeous and so much fun. It was honestly the most special thing to me. I will treasure this moment always. I love you so much.

I will put my speech below the cut. It's similar to my partner's but we practically have same brain. It made me tear up writing it and then I did actually cry for Kitsu's speech. <3

Now before I start mine, I will preface that I bet Ran that our speeches would be almost the same. So you get to hear it first from me you nerds.

The moment I met you, I knew you were special. That night we sat in Ren’s café and talked for hours about lord knows what, I felt a connection. Even though you were this mysterious cool guy I just met, I felt like, hey I need to talk to this guy more.

As the years slowly passed I found myself wanting to be in your presence more often. All because you made everything in my life a little bit brighter. So, I’d always try to attend farm parties, Jagd events, or even idle in front of the market board to strike up a conversation if my schedule allowed it. Then when I could catch you in a voice call, I made it my mission to get you to laugh. Because it’s honestly one of my favorite things about you.

These small moments made me happy. And when we got separated, I felt devastated. I felt like I left a part of me behind. Though I dismissed it as I miss my friends in the FC. Although it was true, when I looked a little deeper, I was mostly missing you.

When I finally had enough and did come back, you were still there by the bell, and greeted me with a /dote. My heart swelled with joy.

When I was going through hard times, you were there for me. Talking me, listening to me… I felt seen and heard. That’s when I knew you were my missing piece, but I did not want to ruin what we had.

I could never stop talking about you before and it totally got worse despite wanting to maintain balance. Always leading with a “My buddy Ran-”. Convincing myself we are just friends. Ignore the fact that we started spending more time together in call. And that I plastered art of him all over the FC discord. And that we should totally ship our characters “for fun” and you agreed. Ahem…

We finally stopped dancing around each other when I was at Tyr’s convention, after a little adventure. My shy guy told me how he truly felt. Everything screeched to a halt, and I was flabbergasted and elated, unable to believe this was truly happening. You made me the happiest person in the world that day! I would have never bet on you being the one brave enough to say something first. And I am glad you were.

Since we’ve been together I have learned so much about you! I can confidently say you are the biggest nerd and goofiest guy I’ve ever met. Not this suave cool dude, as I initially thought. (As you tell me, you never claimed to be cool.) But you know… I wouldn’t have it any other way. This just made me love you even more.

So today I will tell you all that I found my person, my gerblin, my gay little treasure that I want to hold dear for as long as I am able. And I vow to do whatever it takes to be the partner he deserves.

I love you Ran, with all my heart.

Varian climbed the steps into the cozy attic office looking for his friend in hopes to steal him away for a small adventure. "Ran, I was hoping you could help with-" His voice trailed off as he saw the Au Ra dozing in his chair, breathing softly. Varian chuckled softly and shook his head.

With a whisper the Viera leaned in close, "You must have had a long day already..." He smiled and moved closer to press a warm kiss to the ivory horn. "Let's get you to bed."

Ran had come over to the Mist per a very adamant request from a certain Viera over linkshell. Varian had finally finished moving in and wanted his friend to admire his decorating. To which a small tour was in order.

It didn't take long but Varian insisted there was one more thing. He moved the Au Ra to the one bare spot against the wall instructing him not to move. Ran obliged with a raised brow and a smirk, leaning against the cool stone pillar as the other ran off in search.

"Ah ha! See here, I think you'll appreciate this." Varian said as he carried over a lalafellin step stool and placed it at his feet. He swiftly jumped on top and leaned forward, his hands clapping against the stone on either side of Ran's head.

At first Ran desperately wanted to laugh, but he found the close proximity rather distracting and his face mirrored this, only finding focus in those bright green eyes. "Yes, I do... But why not just make yourself a little taller?" He swallowed thickly.

"Actually... I may have gotten smaller so I could do this." Varian leaned closer, hovering just above his lips. His soft face fitting perfectly between the pale horns.

He wanted to linger and tease but that was not in the cards. Ran seized his chance and closed the distance with the lightest touch. Varian pressed back into those heather lips, full of desire, yearning for this closeness. How he wished for this moment.

For a real kiss.

Varian knew what was happening as soon as he heard the linkshell sound off. It was time for Ran to leave... "Nooo..." He gave out a soft groan and clutched the Auri man tighter. "Surely you only just arrived for your visit? Must you go?"

Ran gently took hold of the Viera's hand on his chest, trying to carefully coax it away. "I do. It truly is important this time."

Warm kisses trailed up the pale back scales, futilely trying to convince his partner to stay a moment longer. He could feel the grip tighten and he knew. Varian rested his chin against the broad shoulder and looked up with a pout. "I suppose I must let you go... Although do tell Cid if his timing continues to be troublesome he will have a very cross Viera on his doorstep."

This pulled a smile from Ran as he tore away, "I promise to make it very clear to him."

It was finally that time of year: The Moonfire Faire! One of Varian's favorite times of year where he could test his skill during the day and view the beautiful rainbow of fireworks at night.

This year he was beside himself with joy at the idea of being able to see them from his new cliffside home. Varian wanted to share this with someone, and stole Ran away for the evening by insisting he take a break from his daily duties. It didn't take much convincing, and the Au Ra contently let the smaller Viera tug him along.

The pop and crackles from the fireworks could be heard as the two made their way to the deck. Varian climbed onto the bench and leaned over the fence in awe. With a beaming smile he beckoned his friend over quickly. Ran rested a knee on the bench and leaned over behind Varian to see what he was seeing.

The bright colors looked as if they sprang from the sea itself. With each cluster of rockets, it would elicit a tiny hum or gasp of excitement. In turn this brought a soft smile to Ran's face, admiring the view and sharing in the wonderment his friend was experiencing.

After some time, with a deep sigh Varian leaned back, looking up wistfully at Ran. "Thank you for being here, and humoring my wishes."

Ran reached out and nudged the other's shoulder playfully, offering a comforting glance with those starlit eyes. "Fireworks shine brighter when they're shared with a friend."

I'm awful with names generally and I wanted something lore accurate when I started playing. So I literally just used the in-game name generator for Ran and then made his backstory fit around it!

Day 19: Taken

"Hey handsome, is this seat taken?"

Ran looked up at the Viera who was approaching his table at Xbalyav Ty'e. He could tell that Varian was slightly inebriated as he sauntered over.

"I'm afraid so. I'm waiting for my husband," he told his husband, giving him a tender smile. "We're on our honeymoon and he seems to have gotten misplaced."

Varian pouted before plopping down into Ran's lap. Ran swore he could see tears in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around Varian's waist.

"Husband? Honeymoon? When did this happen?"

The profound sadness in Varian's voice caught Ran off-guard. He had initially thought his husband had just been joking, but after he saw how upset Varian was, Ran realized he was actually far more inebriated than he had initially appeared.

"You were there," Ran said, a smile still on his face. "Don't you remember?"

Varian buried his face into his husband's shoulder and started wailing. Ran tried to console him, gently stroking the back of his head.

"I can't believe you got married! And your husband has just left you here alone! I would never have done that to you." Varian wailed, causing Ran to chuckle.

"My love," Ran said, pulling Varian back slightly so he could look him in the eyes. "You're my husband."

"Me?" Varian whispered, his eyes growing wide.

"You," Ran told him, giving him a kiss on his forehead. "Let's get you back to our room so you can get some rest."
