Danyal Phantom

Danny Fenton is not quite the same person as Phantom.

Yes, Danny and Phantom transform back and forth into each other. They’re the same being, yet they’re not the same. A reflection, but a distorted one.

Danny is a teenage boy with all the feelings that entails. He’s got friends and a crush and nerdy hobbies. Phantom is colder, less personable. He doesn’t fully understand nonviolent human interactions. Danny is a bit scrawny and not the most focused in a fight. Phantom’s entire body has been honed into a weapon.

Because Phantom is not Danny Fenton’s ghost. He’s Danyal al Ghul’s.

Or in other words, Danyal al Ghul escaped the League of Assassins and was adopted by the Fentons, changing his name to Danny Fenton. When the portal activated, it still turned him into a half-ghost. But the ghost half is the ghost of his past self, of the child assassin, while his human half is the part of him that moved on and become a normal kid. They’re the same person, but focused through slightly different lenses.
