This screenshot is cracking me up. Poor Link really means well in this scene. He just wanted to do something nice but ended up falling short and making things worse. I think we’ve all been there.

Sometimes we try to do nice things but it falls short. Some people don’t appreciate the effort and it goes unnoticed, or we mess up and are too embarrassed to try again. I just have to say, if you’re making an effort to do something nice, that’s what really counts. A lot of people don’t go out of their way to do something special for someone so if you’re one of those people, good on you. You’re being your mythical best and that’s what this whole thing is about. If someone doesn’t appreciate your efforts it can be disheartening and it can make you lose motivation to do something nice in the future. I totally understand that, but you should just do it because it’s the right thing to do. Whether the person appreciates it or not, or whether you screw everything up, just know that you tried and that’s what matters. You rock. I love you. Have a good day.

When someone's sense of purpose is lost, it can be traumatizing. People go their entire lives trying to figure out the meaning of life and the reason that they exist. People will turn to religion, pop culture, music, and other things to wrap their identity around and give meaning to their lives. I think it gives everyone a unique personality and lifestyle. I'm not exactly sure why I'm here but I try to enjoy the time I have anyway. I guess I'm just supposed to live, grow, learn, and apply my experience to help others and be a good person. If you're struggling with trying to figure out your purpose, my advice to not worry about it. Just try to live your (mythical) best life and that in itself should be enough. Also, don't be a dick. Everyone should strive for that.

In the first episode of Buddy System Season 2, the Holy Duo are strangers that meet for the first time and become roomates. They get on the other one's nerves but eventually bring out the best in each other. It's a really great series and I hope you've all been able to watch it. Shameless plug over, I wanted to talk about roommates. In my experience, I've only ever had one terrible living experience with someone but I was 19 and we were all shitheads. Every person I've lived with since then has been great. I consider myself lucky. I'm also pretty easy-going so not a whole lot bothers me. I think my biggest debacle with my current roommate is about Crunchy Taco Hamburger Helper. I think it's ok, and she thinks it's the best. I prefer Stroganoff or Beef Pasta personally. I could go on about @mythicalbutt all day because our friendship is truly a unique one, but I'll spare you the weirdness. That's a post for another day and a another blog. I know that not everyone can have the best roommates and some people are absolutely insufferable to live with. We all have grown up a certain way and have grown accustomed to a certain life. That's why we move out of our parent's house. We just want to live by our own rules and it's time to get the hell out. It's much more afforable to live with someone so we settle for a stranger or a friend. For some, it's easier to put up with minor annoyances from a stranger than to be under the constant scrutiny of your mom or dad. If you live with your parents, then that's fine too. They can be the best roommates sometimes. Remember to try and take a break every now and then. Being around people constantly can drain your energy. Retire to your room (or couch) and meditate. Take a walk or a drive and give yourself some space. I think a big reason why people get so bothered with roommates is because they don't take some time to themselves. The year is coming to a close and I’d say our country has been through A LOT in the last 365 days. There have been lessons learned, lessons NOT learned, heartbreak, tragedy, more tragedy, and even MORE tragedy. It seemed like the universe wouldn’t let up. Even personally for me, it’s been very up and down. 

Although, despite all the ugliness that has happened, there have been a lot of good things that have happened as well. The boys went on tour and lit up the lives of thousands of mythical beasts around the country, people have been bravely coming out and exposing the disgusting creeps of Hollywood, there's been an amazing number of people coming together to help with every tragedy, we’re slowly exposing the government for what it is, people are rallying against hate, and I saw somewhere on Twitter that a cat gave birth under a christmas tree so that’s really great.

I’m not sure if 2018 will bring us anything better but the bar is so low, maybe we can make it a good year. Here’s to being the BEST person we can be for our friends, our family, ourselves, our country, and our world. Let’s make it count while we can.

Turtle Facts I had a turtle when I was younger, he was pretty cool. I named him John because for a while as a child I would name all my pets John. I would feed him carrots and he lived in a broken water fountain at my grandparents house. RIP John.
