@beatingheart-bride
“W-Well, you deserve to sleep comfortably too, Emily!” he insisted right back, as he sat a little more upright: Quite honestly, he’d be more than happy to give her his bed...but he also knew (even before she said so aloud) that she wouldn’t want to deprive him off the bed (especially after he’d just begun getting used to sleep in it...), leaving them once again at a bit of a stalemate...
(For a brief moment, the idea of the two of them sharing the bed crossed his mind, but he very quickly dismissed it, as his face suddenly turned white-hot behind the mask; he supposed that was one good thing about having it, so that Emily didn’t see him blush so hard and ask what the matter was...)
As much fun as it was to playfully to volley teases and arguments back and forth, Randall was now well aware of the tiredness beginning to sink in for him as he sat in his seat, eyelids beginning to grow heavy: Between the rainy, moody skies outside, the rhythm of the rain on the roof, and his own overall tiredness, his will to stay awake was beginning to ebb, as he stifled a little yawn (trying not to appear as tired as he was), saying (as one last weak protest), “I really don’t mind if you take the bed, Emily, r-really, I-I can get perfectly comfortable on the lounger...”

HOFAS Spoilers…..,
Discussing the Ember and Randall bonus chapter of HOFAS and the possibility of Nesta being executed for giving Bryce the mask, it really made me wonder: what exactly gives the fandom the impression that Rhysand would have any right whatsoever to execute Nesta for doing this?
First, Nesta found the mask in the Bog of Oorid, which is a neutral territory, it is under no court's jurisdiction, no High Lord commands it. The mask does not belong to Rhysand, it does not belong to the Night Court, it belongs to Nesta. Nesta did not take Night Court property and gave it away, she took HER property and gave it away.
Second, Nesta didn’t do anything that only affected the Night Court. She didn’t take the mask and give it to Beron so he could attack the Night Court, she gave the mask to Bryce so she could use it in another world and by Rhysand’s own words she made a decision that jeopardized THEIR ENTIRE WORLD, not just the Night Court. So again I ask…why then, does the fandom, and the Inner Circle and possibly even SJM seem to think that it is somehow up to ONLY Rhysand to make decisions about her punishment and decide whether or not she should be executed??? What makes Rhysand judge, jury and executioner for the whole of their world?????
You would think that if this does in fact impact the whole of Prythian, and that includes the mortal lands and the other continents, that at minimum ALL the other High Lords would have to have some say in how to deal with Nesta or even have an opinion on whether or not what Nesta did is punishable. Rhysand has ZERO right or jurisdiction to make decisions on behalf of all of Prythian, therefore it is not solely up to him if or how Nesta should be punished.
The thing though is, in order for the other High Lords to have opinions that would require the Night Court to come clean to them all about the fact that they have been hunting for and found the items of the Dread Trove. They would have to disclose Nesta’s powers, and possibly that they have Made items that she crafted (that her sword can kill death gods?). They would have to disclose about the tunnels in the prison and the history they learned about Theia, and the Asteri and the fact that someone from another world portaled into the Night Court and that THEY let her escape.  So when he tells Nesta, “you may not answer to me but you will answer to every being here for what you did,” he forgets that the one who is going to owe everyone a lot of answers is HIM. Rhysand in his egotism and power hunger, thinking he owns Nesta simply because she lives in the Night Court and he therefore owns the Dread Trove, is actually 100% liable for whatever happens with these items. Maybe the rest of Prythian should get to decide whether or not he should be executed for all this?
(And I don't want to hear that Nesta is a Night Court citizen - which she does not consider herself to be - because the only reason Nesta cannot go anywhere else is for PLOT REASONS. Realistically Nesta could live in any other court and be safe and welcomed but the PLOT required her only options to be the Night Court or die in the mortal lands).

Vengeance cold or hot?
Tumblr media
Randall, apart from Mike and Sulley of course, included Johhny in his vengeance, but at the same time he owed him a rescue from the bog men and was indebted to him
-Debt paid, thought Randall before his act of vengeance.
Johhny woke up in the basement of the Monsters inc factory with an exceptionally sore head chained to the floor, even before he could come to his senses he saw Randall in front of him holding in his four hands : a saw, a file and sandpaper. He immediately understood what Randall needed these items for. When he was young, he was often threatened by men who sawed off children's tusks and horns - today such a man came to Johhny.
-Come on Boggs, let's not do anything stupid and just talk about this - said a frightened Johhny
-Oh you're gonna talk alright! In fact : You're gonna beg - said through laughter Randall smiling with his teeth.
and he was doing it. Randall, without any qualms, sawed off Johhny first left then right - without any qualms, without any human and more monstrous emotions.
-What are you doing? - asked Johhny with a feigned laugh, trying not to cry in front of Randall -I am just taking care of your denstist care! - replied Randall -Someone ever tell you that your bottom two are coming out of your mouth? I'll fix that! Johhny began to pray, asking God to convert Randall, and Randall himself to stop painfully filing his teeth, but…. Even God will not convert Randall at this point in his life. Finally Randall let go of Johhny, the latter immediately started holding on to his leftover - horns. The horns what, had been a certain trademark for the Worthingtons, had been taken for one little college action, or maybe not so little?

Henlo, i love ur blog big 💕💕 and I don't have much in the way of absolutely deranged Hannibal friends to talk with so ig you can have these thots I've been thinking:
Will cares so deeply for animals but people: Theyre, just, flies to swat at. He takes satisfaction in the job well done, a mess cleaned up, a mosquito flattened. A long range rifle, a meticulous rube goldberg for poison, an orchestrated accident. Its impersonal for Will while Hannibal takes each slight committed by an individual as an individual sin; its so incredibly personal and Will just doesnt Get It. Doesn't connect to that aspect of humanity, that vengeance and pride, even though he understands the human psyche on a techincal level, intuitively enough to logic actions and behaviors out.
He understands its about rudeness but like, any level of rude is still rude and everyone commits that sin so like, why bother with such distinct theater, the production of it all, when the biggest satisfaction is in putting the tools away back in the shed? In dusting off dirty hands after a hard days work? He's an ends over means kind of guy while Hannibal wants to have his cake and eat it too.
The room temperature distance between him and his victims, the complete compartmentalization, is why he'd never be caught (unlike hannibal cough cough)
Idk i just think about them having such differing views on the motive of murder a lot
Will's methods of murder are essentially the equivalent of a husband who only watches a show or attends an event because his wife gets excited about it.
i don't think he completely doesn't care, but there's a method to his displays. the insect man was for Hannibal, even though he'd never know it, and the museum creature was for Randall because on top of trying to lure Hannibal, it was a testament to Randall's true sense of self and Will felt that he deserved that.
but after killing the dragon? fuck him, no display. killing someone like Bedelia? honestly Will would probably veto displaying her, she can rot in a bog for all he cares.
after that it's just a series of miscellaneous pests, and Will only pins and displays them because it makes his darling spouse happy.

Hii just found your blog and wanted to drop by to tell you that you have all my love and support, I also wanted to ask about your OCs 💜
Anyway, have a good day !! 💜😙
omg hiiii!
okay so, i was gonna pop off about one of them specifically, but that deserves its own post, so instead im just gonna list my ocs and a BRIEF description.
in order of creation (to the best of my memory):
Dad - Arcane Trickster Half Elf, runs with a guild of thieves disguising themselves as a Carnival. currently is dead, due to a... falling out. will be/has been revived, but came back wrong. remembers almost nothing of his previous life as a rogue, believes himself to be a wizard. fell back in to scamming people, though its unclear if he realizes it or not as he sells fake magic items that have just been minor illusioned and prestidigitized to appear to function as described. goes by Dangerous Dan in his reanimated state.
Randall Smith - Warlock, Human, his patron deity is his future self that has been through many iterations, believes himself to be the One True God. based on Randall Smith from the flash game Second Wind. manipulates time space to make himself seem invulnerable.
Murphy McSwillian - retired Pirate, Merfolk, Murphy is an old sailor man who claims to have sailed every sea in every plane. These days he runs a tavern, and mostly spends his time being a grumpy old man. He despises magic in the same way old people despise technology, he doesnt understand it, and all these kids keep running around casting minor spells in the tavern and causing havoc. Much to Murphy's irritation, his tavern seems to have quite a bit more magical tomfoolery tied into it than he couldve imagined.
Toive - Divination Wizard, Rune Knight Fighter, Moonfolk. Toive and her sister Ilona are the last two moonfolk of their tribe, which was wiped out when a group of humans tricked Ilona into leading them to their home at the peak of the mountain. Toive doesnt know what Ilona did, and believes herself to be the only Moonfolk left. She lives on her own in a cave on the mountainside, near a tribe of giants. She learned to fight by watching giant children learn and would sometimes spar with them. Toive smiths all her own weapons and armor, and has given up on the divinatory arts, as they did not help her people avoid death. Reunited with her sister after many years ina tearful reunion, Toive has vowed to never let Ilona out of her sight again, and also will ALWAYS check for a dead body. They are not dead until you see the body. She hates humans with a burning rage and will fight to kill at the slightest provocation.
Tim Togo - Halfling Speedster, Tim is very punctual and cannot stand tardiness. He moves so fast while filing paperwork and doing his other civic duties that it appears as if he isnt moving at all as he sits at his desk writing notes. Before he retired from adventuring, Tim was an outcast noble. As a young boy he encountered a mighty dragon, which bestowed upon him and Abberant Dragonmark, which came to be seen as an ill omen by the rest of his family, which was known for its deep rooted magical abilities, none of which seemed present in Tim. but the magic was there, it just manifested bound to his muscles, resulting in his extraordinary speed.
Brugmansia Honey Lotus - Plant Harpy, class unknown, Brugmansia (her "friends" call her Honey) is the Lady of the Fen, counterpart to the Witch of the Bog, two great beings who keep balance of the ebb and flow of the tides of life. Honey appears very kind and sweet, almost angelic, with a long flowing dress like the Brugmansia (Angels Trumpet) plant, and seemingly feathered wings made of Honey Lotus branches, covered in sharp thorns hidden by golden feathery leaves. She, like the Fen, takes the nutrients from the soil and waterways around her, using those nutrients to bloom beautifully. However, she seeks more nutrients than are available, so she lures people into the Fen to steal their life force, while intoxicating them with a powerful slumbering poison. She is always at odds with the Witch of the Bog, whos job it is to break down what is living into its individual nutrients, to feed back into the soil and streams.
and... i think thats all of them, for now. there are a few more, much less fleshed out, like Sunny, Firbolg Ranger, and 8-Ball Jim of Dubious Divinations, but.. there you have it! thats the Pantheon! thank you for reaching out and i hope this wasnt too overwhelming!
i would be more than happy to answer any follow up questions on specific characters, either in an ask or in a dm. i plan on making individual posts for all of my characters at some point soon. thank you for your interest!

Fantastic read, really clever breakdown. The villain archetype for Lion Badger is very, very much 'Sleeper Villain.' Prince Hans, Randall Bogs, Peter Pettigrew, and I've heard a very good argument that Emperor Palatine is this as well.
Tumblr media
Prince Hans: The Mirror
In an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation called “The Perfect Mate,” a woman named Kamala is taken on board the U.S.S. Enterprise. She is a supremely talented empath who, in any condition, mirrors the emotions of the person with whom she interacts.
Thus, with the brilliant Captain Picard, she is intelligent and adventurous. With the animalistic Klingon, Worf, she is primal. With the womanizing Commander Ryker, she is provocative and flirtatious. And so forth.
That is the true nature of Prince Hans, in Frozen.
This explains why there has been so much confusion about his character. Because he isn’t a character at all — in the sense that there is, as far as the story shows, no essential self to Hans.
Rather, every scene in which Hans appears shows him interacting with someone, and in those scenes, he takes on the characteristics and emotions of the people with whom he interacts. He mirrors them, as if he were an empath, reflecting their feelings back at them. And more than that, he even embodies their projections, personifying their hopes or dreads.
In Hans’s first scene in the film, Anna has just been dreaming of a perfect prince, and there he appears, as if her will had conjured him out of thin air. He seems to be just like her, a little awkward, but sociable, and wholly receptive to meeting someone — as if, like Anna, he too had been dreaming of running into someone new.
She leaves the encounter a little dreamy-eyed and love-struck, and he ends the scene with the same look on his face, reflecting hers.
Then, at the coronation ball, Anna attempts to re-forge a relationship with Elsa, which of course, Elsa cannot do (for Anna’s safety). Thereafter, Anna immediately encounters Hans again, except this time, he mirrors Anna’s desire for a much deeper instant relationship, just as Anna improbably wished instantly to bond closely with Elsa (as if the last 13 years of separation had never existed). Hans now wants exactly what she wants, an open-door relationship with someone, and he seems even to have endured the same hardships as Anna has: being ignored by siblings. He mimics her movements in the clock scene. He echoes her exact words: “Can I say something crazy?” “Can I say something crazy?” In their love song, they sing the same words right back at each other, again and again.
When Elsa unleashes her magic, a fascinating moment follows in which Elsa and Hans exchange glances with one another. Elsa looks up, concerned, and Hans too looks up, with a similarly concerned look on his face. In that one moment, he reflects her emotions precisely.
When Anna resolves to set out after Elsa, Hans’s desire is to parallel her: “I’m coming with you.” But Anna leaves him behind, in her place. In effect, he is to function as her substitute, as her mirror self in Arendelle.
As the governor of Arendelle, when the people approach Hans with kindness, he reflects their kindness in return. But when the Duke approaches him with hostility and attempts to show him who’s boss, Hans mirrors the Duke’s bravura and stares him down, asserting his own authority in turn.
Even at the ice palace, when he confronts Marshmallow, he mirrors the great snow monster in the ferocity of his combat skills. Just as Marshmallow grows ice spikes, so too does Hans grow one — his sword – and defeats Elsa’s mighty snow sentinel by reflecting the snowman’s violence.
When he encounters Elsa in her upper chamber, he echoes Elsa’s very own lifelong dread when he says to her, “Don’t be the monster they fear you are.” In effect, he is speaking for her, uttering her own emotions, as if he were empathically linked to her.
Even his very next action is a mirroring one: when one of the guards raises his crossbow to shoot, Hans, in grasping the guard’s crossbow, shoots with him. The are two suddenly on the same trigger, mirroring each other, performing the same act, shooting the weapon together as if they were twins.
When Hans next encounters Elsa in the dungeon, his tone is identical to hers. He sits beside her and speaks with sadness and worry: “Stop the winter. Please,” saying the lines just the way Elsa might utter them herself. He seems, in that moment, to be as gentle as Elsa. He reflects her emotions and her demeanor.
Next, of course, comes the library scene. And now, one might think that Hans reveals his “true” self. But that’s not the case at all. Here too he performs an act of mirroring — of Anna.
Consider Anna’s words when she returns:
HANS What happened out there?
ANNA Elsa struck me with her powers.
HANS You said she’d never hurt you.
ANNA I was wrong…She froze my heart.
That is, of course, Anna’s selectively edited and misconstrued account of what happened. In truth, Elsa struck her with her magic unwittingly and unwillingly, after having begged Anna repeatedly to leave, for Anna’s own safety. It was Anna herself who caused the situation in which she was hurt.
However, because Anna (due to her characteristic lack of perceptiveness about others and their emotions) does not recognize why the ice-palace incident transpired as it did, she misconstrues the event as if she were the one who had been wronged or betrayed by her sister.
And what does Hans do next? He mirrors this, as he mirrors all things. He wrongs her. He betrays her.
Anna’s projection of an unexpected betrayal from her sister causes Hans to mirror that unexpected betrayal right back at her. Once again, Hans even echoes Anna’s own words to him: “You’re no match for Elsa.” “No, you’re no match for Elsa.” He takes off his gloves when he does this, just as Elsa wore no gloves during the encounter at the ice palace, when Anna believes that Elsa betrayed her and hurt her.
In the next scene, with the ad-hoc Arendelle council, Hans seems grave but resolute, just as they do, seemingly prepared to do what’s necessary to save Arendelle — even something desperate, such as executing the queen. Earlier, they had projected onto him the image of a hero (“You are all Arendelle has left”), just as Anna had yearned to meet “the one” right at the beginning of the film, and Hans reflects their hero projection right back at the council members, just as he initially reflected Anna’s projection of a perfect prince, or later, her projection of a betrayal and injury by someone whom she thought loved her.
On the fjord, Hans once again mirrors Elsa. Observe how wide-eyed and nearly frantic he appears when he shouts at her, just as wide-eyed as Elsa herself appears.
And what identity does he take on in this moment? That of an executioner — which is exactly what Elsa believes that she has become, once she is told that Anna died because of her magic. Elsa believes that she has become lethal, that she is death personified, and Hans, in turn, mirrors that identity, becoming death himself, sword in hand, like the scythe of the grim reaper.
Only at the very end of the film, when he is locked in a cell, is Hans seen alone, for the very first time. At that moment, there is no one to mirror, and he sinks to the ground like a mechanism without a battery, because, like an empath who only exists in relation to someone else, he has no independent existence – or at least, none to which the audience is privy, in this film.
- - - -
No wonder Hans has attracted so many diverse interpretations, all seemingly incompatible with one another. There is no single Hans, no “true” Hans, not even in the library scene. In every moment in which he exists in Frozen, he functions as a mirror to other characters, embodying their emotions or their projections.
It is not that he is not sincere. Quite the opposite. He is entirely as sincere in every moment as are the people he reflects. He is just as genuinely committed to love in one moment as he is genuinely committed to kindness in another and to execution in another. As a fully empathic personality, he becomes whoever he is with.
“Who is this Hans?” Olaf asks. The answer is: not a person, not a character, but a mirror, perhaps even supernatural — a mirror who reflects everyone around him, their loves and fears, their vices and virtues, their lives and, very nearly, their deaths.
(My own extended review of Frozen appears [here].)

I watched Joker today. I enjoyed it quite a lot! The cinematography and Joaquin Phoenix's performances were a real treat. The subject matter was very dark, but I thought it did a remarkable job of not getting bogged down in itself. A problem I run into sometimes is that when a movie or show has so many bad things happen to its lead I begin to sort of roll my eyes, like, "we get it, could you please move on already?" but that didn't happen here. The bad things were interesting on their own, they didn't overstay their welcome, and they all fed directly into the development of the plot.
Spoilers to follow if you haven't watched it yet. Personally I'd recommend it with the caveat that it is still very dark and I think lots of folks will find it heavier to bear than I did.
What struck me the most, though, and I think what got me the most engaged was the lack of wanton cruelty on the Joker's part. The movie's atmosphere and music often presents him as more dangerous than he actually is. The scenes with Sophie are a perfect example of this, where the tension is ratcheted up as Arthur stalks her or invades her apartment. The audience is led to think he's about to do something, but then he just... doesn't. He realizes that all the time he spent with her was just a delusion and he leaves on his own. This is repeated when he kills Randall but lets Gary go, even apparently genuinely apologizing for using a lock too high for Gary to reach. And when he kills Murray, he doesn't do anything to the guests or the audience, or even resist arrest after that point.
I think it allows for him to feel much more sympathetic, which creates that much more engagement with his politics, or lack thereof. Arthur is excellent because he doesn't conceive of his own rage as political, even as he directs it towards seemingly political targets and revels in the political effects. Everyone he kills he does so for personal reasons: the three stock brokers in self-defense, his mother for abusing him and misleading him due to her own delusions, Randall for throwing him under the bus to their boss and quite likely preparing to do so again with the police, and finally Murray for making fun of him and then bringing him on to do so again. This is all outwardly misconstrued as political actions, because the public only knows about the first and the last.
Then there's his speech to Murray, which is so excellent. They talk past each other perfectly. Murray keeps insisting that Arthur's trying to make excuses for killing the stock brokers, but Arthur never even mentions that it was in self-defense.
Arthur rants about the state of things, how cruel people are to each other and the disregard the wealthy show for the poor and "people like him." It all sounds political, and to be clear, any serious analysis of Arthur's situation shows that politics are to blame, but it isn't to Arthur. It's just all the bad things that happened to him that made him mad. And now he's not an advocate for societal change, he's just personally hitting back at the world that's been beating him for too long. When he watches the protest go by laughing and smiling, he's just happy to see chaos, he's happy to see the world hurting because of him. It's an act of revenge just as personal as stabbing Randall with scissors or shooting Murray, writ large because the target is not a man that can be killed, it's the society he inhabits.
This, I think, is the most interesting thing the film has to say. Arthur genuinely isn't political, but the causes and the effects of his actions are. The one time he actually speaks at length, all the words he uses are political. The news parading all around him is political. It is almost absurd that someone who dresses up like a literal clown and performs for children is so deeply steeped in politics that he doesn't need to actually care about them at all--we don't even need to talk about who the president is, or who the senator of whatever state Gotham's in is--the clown is still political. Because he's poor, because he has a mental illness, and then because he's angry, and because he lashes out, his whole existence, inaction and action alike, is politics.

Randall Boggs x Reader || Drabble
Tumblr media
Plot: Randall turns up ready to change, to get better- way too late, and at the worst possible time... 🤵👰 // Alternatively, you tell Randall that you've always, love him- but its not what he wants to hear.
🎵 Talk some sense to me 🎵 - Amber Run
Warnings: Angst, but with a little... something, at the end. Be kind, I've never actually written for Randall before.
Eyes widening, you get up from the couch and whip around, catching sight of the skulker hunched and wringing his hands like he used to, awkwardly by the door. “What are you doing here??”
“I, uh… “Caught off guard with a question he should have had an answer for, turning up like this, Randall mumbles something incoherent to himself, before clearing his throat and raising his voice again. “Would you believe it if I said I came to congratulate you?”
“No,” You exclaim, because- because- well, because you wouldn’t! That’s ridiculous! You break up with him and after 3 years of radio silence he turns up at your wedding to wish you the best? Fat chance!
“I didn’t think so… “He stops fiddling with his hands and holds them behind his back. Then he huffs out a sigh, shaking his head at the ground. “Okay- okay! Look, I didn’t exactly come for cake.”
“Really?” Sarcasm bleeds off your tongue, and he gives you a sharp look for it; But a faint grin flickers across his face too. He shakes it off though and moves, wandering a bit around the room with your eyes glued to him. “Randall- “
“I made a mistake.”
… Oh no.
No.
Not this, not today, your life is not a Mathew McConaughey and Kate Hudson movie!!
But, you don’t say a word just yet. You keep watching him, tight lipped and stony gazed, waiting for him go on; Just hoping that this ‘mistake’ he’s made is, by some hideous miracle, not at all what you think it is.
But… with the setting, and all… the chances are slim. You still have hope, though. Desperate hope.
“Look, I don’t think I really need to get into the specifics of it all, do I? Just come on- pack up your stuff, grab your keys, we gotta go. You said- you said, when you left, that if I changed- we could work again. Well I’m working on it.”
So he’s serious. “Randall- “You start, half pleading as you’re horrified, at all this. You do remember saying that, but it was three years ago! Statute of limitation, please!- “I- … You have to go. Now. This is my wedding, I- This is ridiculous! Go, now. Go home. I can’t do this with you. I won’t.” Moving from the dresser your fiancé helped you lug down here last night, you sweep the room and yank the door open, staring needles into Randall as you urge him to leave.
He squints back at you, in that menacing, stalkerish way that you used to find intriguing and doesnt move; Not an inch.
“I’m not going anywhere, until you admit there’s still feelings.” He movies, scuttling across the room for what feels like half a second before he’s right in front of you and glaring. A finger prods at your chest with a finger, and you weakly let it move you. “You still have feelings for me.”
Of course, I do, you think immediately, in certainty. You still think about Randall… all the time. Wondering if he’s okay, if he’s moved on. If he’s found someone that fit him better, or if he still spent nights grumbling about you.
What you had together was the kind of intense intimacy that made you think soulmates are a thing, that never faltered for 4 whole years of college.
Never faltered… but grew darker, instead. Lost its promising sparkle. Which is why you still thought of him, and probably always will even when you’re 80 years old, but never went back.
“It wouldn’t do us any good if I did.” The tone in your voice is strong, unbreakable, but then it softens, and you allow yourself to share a moment with your first love… hoping to god that like everything else you used to share with him that he’ll understand. “You’re too late.”
He doesn’t. “I need to hear it… “His voice grows angrier… almost enough to scare you, right here in the broad daylight moredis than innocent little children in the dead of night. “You need to hear it.”
“I don’t want you anymore.” You exclaim, not-entirely honestly, but sternly enough that Randall backs off a bit- eyes widening and stepping back a smidgeon.
But he regains his control rather quickly, four fists clenching at his sides, one twisted tail warping and two eyes narrowing. “You’re still a disgraceful liar.”
Oh god- your face is getting blotchy. What if you cry? Sniffing, you cross your arms and take a breath in, readying yourself to answer; To deny it like your life depends on it. Until you’re blue in the face and Randall can tell you that he doesn’t believe you all he likes, but he’ll know that no matter how much he says it- the outcome wont change.
But the air runs out and you haven’t said anything. No ‘Doesn’t matter’s or ‘I don’t care’s.
Just you staring at Randall and him staring back at you… and hope blossoming in his chest and, traitorously,- yours too.
But, god, that can’t happen!
Suddenly you’re desperate. He needs to leave- go. Get out of your face and your house and your life again before you ruin it for him. Because that’s how much you loved him back then, which is why you had to leave… and you’d still wreck yourself for him.
But what can you say? What combination of all the letters in the alphabet can possibly string together in a satisfying enough goodbye that’ll convince him to go?
Two of his hands find themselves on your waist and it is such a hilariously, heartbreakingly profound moment that you almost want to laugh… or sob. Probably sob.
He’s so gentle, then. Eyes soft, waiting for something- hoping for something… Fingers holding on for no nefarious reason other than to touch you, not to keep you…
It makes you miss it all.
“Please, just tell me.” God, it feels like forever since you heard him use that word with anyone. Please.
You release another long breath, shaky as you reach up to, at first hesitantly, touch his face… then remember all those time’s you did it before, and hold him for confidently. If anyone walked in, they would think for sure that the two of you were the ones getting married today, by the looks of you. You know, that with Randall you look… perfect.
But it doesn’t feel perfect anymore, and that’s why you have to do this.
“Randall Boggs… “You start, giving him a small smile, your real feelings shining through your eyes for the first time in years, before going on. “… I will always, love you.”
He just looks… entirely, heartbroken.
Because you’re telling the truth. You’re not lying now. You love him deeply, and you always- always, will. And you know it perfectly well.
But that’s not enough like he needed it to be.
~
A few minutes passed after that, and neither of you said a damn thing. It was one of those moments where you swear… time stopped. Or you hoped, that time would stop. Because right then, in the last few minutes of something important, and you know that when the moment is up its over and you can never… get it back.
You both searches the others faces for a reason not to let this be the end, but you can’t find logic by just looking at a person you love, like they do in fairy tales. God, if this were a fairy tale, you can’t help but think… you would see something that would make running out on your wedding okay, and that would promise you that everything would work out this time with Randall.
You don’t, of course… But wouldn’t it be nice if you did?
You allow yourself to admit that yes. It would be.
Instead of all that, your phone rang on the couch cushions with an alert, telling you that it was time to walk. Randall let go of you and stepped back, shocked that you were actually going to do this- even after all that- but didn’t fight it.
Now you stand at your wedding alter and you must have blacked for most of the ceremony because before you know it everyone is looking at you, and the man in front of you is asking if you’ll take this hand in marriage…
And your mouth opens immediately- Your gaze flittering around the room finds a flash of purple behind the seats-
And no sound comes out.

Low-key feel like you'd f/o Randall from Monster Inc?? I dunno he's kind of a bastard
I'M SCREAMING RANDALL IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE VILLAINS
Listen Randall fits a lot of the criteria for villains I like, and if it weren't for the willful child abduction then there's a good chance I'd give him a shot
(For you I'm going to say Bog King from Strange Magic. Dramatic? Not human? Bit of a tsundere? He's all three)

“You’ll never have to wait again,” he swore to her gently, cool, spidery hand cupping her face, gently encouraging her to look at him, to see just how serious he was taking this declaration. “Not for a thousand years, not for a thousand hours, not even for a thousand seconds. No more waiting, my heart. You’ve done enough of that. More than enough.”
They said only fools rush in, but if that were true, then Randall would have no problem being counted as a fool. He never wanted Emily to have to wait for anything again. Anything and everything she wanted, he would try to give her as soon as he said it, that much he knew for certain. He wanted to give her everything she never had and more-the life they were robbed of.
He wanted to give her a happy wedding-not just the two of them and the preacher, but at least in the presence of their friends, two people who cared about them, supported their love. He wanted to give her a nice house-perhaps not a mansion like the one she grew up in, but a nice one nonetheless, the sort of place they could call their own, make their home. He wanted to give her a family-children, the ones they were deprived of in their afterlives...
But more than anything else, he wanted to give her security: He wanted her to know and trust that she would never, ever lose him again, to believe that, in this life and the next, they would always be together, and she would never, ever have to wake up alone ever again. No matter what the future held for both of them, he wanted her to know, in her heart of hearts, that history would not repeat itself. It would always be them-Mr. and Mrs. Pace, whose love was so strong that death-and beyond-could not and never would part them.
That was, above all else, what he wanted to give to it, and he prayed to God he’d be able to do it.
@beatingheart-bride
Although he reciprocated the kiss without a moment's hesitation, her lament was nothing short of a knife to the gut; to imagine, for decades, Emily had felt so...empty. So...incomplete, as if she were missing a part of herself for so long, all because of his absence. Once more did it make him hate his future self, leaving Emily so alone for so long-where in God's name could he have gone? Why did he have to leave her behind?
The resentment swelled in his chest, but he tried his best not to dwell on it-how could he, when Emily's soft, heavenly lips were pressed up against his so tenderly? That was enough for such resentment to become washed away in a sea of love, and when he parted from her, he remained close, once again pressing his forehead against hers as he said, voice soft and gentle:
"I promise you, Emily, that you will never that way again. You will never, ever be lonely again, because I swear to you now...you will never lose me again. Ever."
