I kind of hate how Monoma started off as a serious character and develed into just being a joke. I don't mind the gags, they're super funny but at the same time, it feels like no one can take him seriously anymore. He was super smart and serious at the festival but because no one liked him, Hori said he scraped his plan of making Monoma a rival and just made him into a comedic character instead.

Yeah, he has devolved into a big joke! I feel like we have enough of the "stupid" characters, that we don't need him to be dumb while also being stuck-up. I feel like Hori took all of the comedic traits that he chose for Monoma and dialed them up to 11 and it makes it difficult for me to like him as a character

Truth was, we didn't need another rival, but I still feel like we haven't gotten a real leader of class B yet and I had initially hoped that Monoma would be their advocate (in a serious way) when talking about how 1A always gets more attention (Kendo has stepped up some, but Hori has been lazy about her character I feel like)

Anyway, long story short, I'm disappointed in Horikoshi for making Monoma a 1-dimensional character and now I'm always a little annoyed when he's in a scene

My idea originally was reader being Aizawa's daughter. I love Dadzawa a lot so it was just gonna be a lot of bonding fluff maybe some Shinsku thrown it. In it the mother had just died which is why she goes to find hi. But then i was like. Uhhh same plot but what if I just made the story with the reader being the mum instead and it takes place during her and Aizawa's school years and its fluffy cuteness and romance and basically why she and Aizawa drifted apart and ahhhhh my brain hurts.

Ahh I've been feeling like I'm in the minority when it comes to Mitsuki. I just don't get the whole slapping your kid thing. On the head especially. I've worked with kids so the thought of raising a hand makes me kinda sick.

I don’t intend on getting drama started or whatever, I hate starting hate about things people have different opinions about - people can like Mitsuki or say that she’s a comedic character, but there shouldn’t have to be a specific way for things to happen for it to be considered abuse, and I’m glad that the thought of that makes you feel that way too. I understand that not everyone reacts to or feels the same way, but the fact that it is there and being downplayed is quite alarming.

Raising a hand to your child or mocking them in any way could potentially leave mental scars, even little ones that take time to even appear; my parents joke about my appearance ever since I started gaining weight when I was 8, and I’ve dealt with horrible self-esteem issues since then. My parents tell me all the time that I have no future as “encouragement”, and I have constant thoughts that I’ll never amount to anything I do and that I’ll never be good enough. My parents often yelled at and hit me (slapping mostly) when I was younger, and I turned out to be irritable and even violent when I’m angry. They often did those things in front of my family, and maybe you can imagine how that felt for someone 

I’m talking about my personal experience here, as have many people already when talking about this subject, but seeing only one side of things is never good, and there are indeed people who don’t like the way she reacts because it reminds them of their own memories - we might be the minority, but we’re still here, and our experience isn’t meant to be played off as comedic. Parents can be wrong, and that’s nothing out of this world.

Straight up, he's created an interesting dilemma with 1-B. Think about it this way, 1-B has gotten less attention which means less heroes will be willing to let them intern for them, they'd rather have 1-A kids, which means the chances of these kids succeeding in the long run is slim. The more villains that attack just 1-A means more experience too so 1-B will always be behind. It would have honestly been interesting to see Monoma go against the school for this type of unfairness- (Part 1)

Yeah, exactly!! It's such a viscous cycle and I wanna see the 1B kids say/do something about it. The 1B kids need more attention but Hori got himself roped up into this whole plot of 1A getting all the focus and it makes it difficult to redirect to characters that 1. Aren't as crucial to the plot and 2. We haven't been as trained to like

I agree that it's not very fleshed out, but I do wanna give Hori a break and say that happens with A LOT of mangakas. It's a lot more difficult to plan stories that come out weekly for extended periods of time than something you can edit all at once, especially if you don't expect it to last that long

Not trying to defend him and I definitely think he should his act together by now (I mean, 200 chapters in if definitely enough time), but did think I should mention that
