A HUGE thank you for all Cem's prayers and well-wishes! He is slowly on the road to recovery! For those who have asked, his diagnosis is Osteochondritis Dissecans. It occurs most frequently in young (4-10 months) large, rapidly growing breeds of dogs. Males are affected 2-3 times more often than females. The exact cause is unknown, but we do know that Cem is pushing 100 pounds and growing like a weed! His prognosis is full recovery with no recurrence with proper PT! Poor Cem! He had a malformation from rapid growth in the cartilage plates in the elbows of his front legs, and had to have surgery. It will be 6 to 8 weeks of recovery time with hand walking 3 times a day. We'll keep you posted on his progress!
