SINGHAM AGAIN REVIEW
What in the multiverse of insanity was that.
I screamed shitless when I saw the trailer, and every time someone entered, I lost my shit. Because, it was crazy.
Oh maan. Like I don't understand why people are hating on it so freaking much.
Singham Again was decent, honestly. Agreed the star cast was overwhelming, but it actually had my interests satiated mainly. All their entries were cool, the puns hit well, certain scenes like the port burning scene had their fair share of adrenaline rush, acting was decent (I dare say even Arjun Kapoor was kinda okay). Overall, it was a cutesy retelling of Ramayana. I actually quite liked the way they presented the scenes and at different locations with the actual evidence of the real Ramayana.
Also, I have this weird habit of counting actors, at least the ones I know, so here we are:
Ajay Devgn as DCP Bajirao Singham
Jackie Shroff as Omar Hafeez
Ravi Kishan as Home Minister Raj Jaishankar
Kareena Kapoor Khan as Avni Kamat Singham
Shweta Tiwari as Devika Singh
Dayanand Shetty as Senior Inspector Daya Shetty
Ankit Mohan as Sarath
Deepika Padukone as DCP Shakti Shetty
Arjun Kapoor as Danger Lanka / Zubair Hafeez
Tiger Shroff as ACP Satya Bali
Akshay Kumar as DCP Veer Sooryavanshi
and holy shit.
Salman Khan as Inspector Chulbul Pandey

“Dawn of DC” Makes Way for 3 New Limited Series Under “We Are Legends” Banner
Tumblr media
Spinning out of the Lazarus Planet series, the “Dawn of DC” will introduce three new limited series featuring Asian Super Heroes for the “We Are Legends” banner.
Spirit World, from writer Alyssa Wong and artist Haining, follows Xanthe, first introduced in Lazarus Planet: Dark Fate #1, who has the “ability to travel in and out of the Spirit World – the realm of the dead, and that of the living. Xanthe possesses the ability to burn items folded from ceremonial joss paper and turn them into real objects that can be used in the physical world. Their super power is based on the East Asian custom of burning joss paper at gravesites to send resources to ancestors in the spirit world.” (DC Comics) Xanthe will have to forge an alliance with John Constantine to rescue Batgirl Cassandra Cain from jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampires).
Spirit World #1 (of 6), featuring covers by Haining, Dustin Nguyen, Trung Le Nguyen, and Zu Orzu, goes on sale on May 9, 2023.
Tumblr media
The Vigil, from writer Ram V and artist Lalit Kumar Sharma, follows the team of South Asian metahumans consisting of Arclight, Saya, Dodge, and Castle (first seen in Lazarus Planet: Next Evolution #1). The Vigil were given powers they didn’t ant and are “determined to stop metahuman research and tech created for military applications at any cost. Along the way, they’ll encounter super heroes that could be allies or enemies, not a surprise for a group that exists to shut down state-sponsored superhumans…and clean up the mess before any hero or villain arrives, as if both the crime and The Vigil were never there.” (DC Comics)
The Vigil #1 (of 6), featuring covers by Sumit Kumar, Mukesh Singh, Lalit Kumar Sharma, Anad RK, and Pop Mhan, goes on sale on May 16, 2023.
Tumblr media
City Boy, from writer Grek Pak and artists Minkyu Jung and Sunny Gho, follows Cameron Kim / City Boy, introduced in Wildstorm 30th Anniversary Special #1 and Lazarus Planet: Legends Reborn #1. Cameron is a kid trying to get by who uses his powers of speaking to cities to find lost items to pawn. “But having these powers also means that he hears everything about these cities, everywhere and all at once, including their histories and the truths behind them. In his two current appearances he’s already made “friends” with Gotham City (including a rat avatar made from the city’s scraps), but only time will tell if City Boy is received as openly by Metropolis, Amnesty Bay, Themyscira, or other cities in the DC Universe.” (DC Comics)
City Boy #1 (of 6), featuring covers by Minkyu Jung, InHyuk Lee, Michael Choi, and Alexandre Tefenkgi, goes on sale on May 23, 2023.

Sanjay Malhotra Appointed RBI Governor to Lead Inflation Battle
In a pivotal leadership transition, Sanjay Malhotra, a seasoned bureaucrat and top revenue officer, has been appointed as the new Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Malhotra, a 1990 batch IAS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, will take charge as Shaktikanta Das completes his six-year tenure. The announcement, made by the Union Cabinet's Appointments Committee, marks a critical moment in India's ongoing fight against inflation.
Tumblr media
From North Block to Mint Road
Having previously overseen India’s direct and indirect tax administration, Malhotra brings a wealth of experience in fiscal management. His extensive background includes leadership roles in financial services, power, mining, and IT. Like his predecessors Shaktikanta Das, D. Subbarao, Y.V. Reddy, and Bimal Jalan, Malhotra transitions from the finance ministry to helm India’s central bank, showcasing a tradition of blending fiscal expertise with monetary governance.
Inflation: A Persistent Challenge
Malhotra assumes office at a time when India is grappling with inflationary pressures. October's Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate of 6.21% exceeded the RBI’s upper tolerance limit of 6%, driven by stubbornly high food prices. Tackling inflation within the RBI’s flexible 2-6% target range remains a priority for the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
In his final address, outgoing governor Das highlighted the importance of maintaining a vigilant anti-inflationary stance, expressing optimism that easing food price shocks would help align headline inflation with the target. However, experts predict a challenging road ahead for Malhotra, with projections of inflation normalization only by the September quarter of FY26.
New Leadership Dynamics
Malhotra’s appointment coincides with significant changes in the MPC. Recently, three new external members joined the six-member committee: Ram Singh from the Delhi School of Economics, Saugata Bhattacharya, a former Axis Bank economist, and Nagesh Kumar, head of the Institute for Studies in Industrial Development. They join internal members Rajiv Ranjan, Michael Debabrata Patra (Deputy Governor), and Malhotra himself. This reshuffle sets the stage for fresh perspectives in monetary policymaking.
The February 2025 MPC meeting, Malhotra’s first as governor, is expected to be closely watched. Economists from Capital Economics anticipate a potential 25-basis-point repo rate cut, signaling a possible shift in monetary policy under the new leadership.
External Pressures and Global Challenges
The global economic environment presents additional hurdles. Geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, and surging commodity prices continue to exert inflationary pressure. Protectionist policies and trade tariffs, particularly from major economies, further complicate the outlook. As governor, Malhotra must navigate these external challenges while maintaining domestic economic stability.
A Strategic Appointment
Malhotra’s tenure is set to be pivotal, with his experience in fiscal policy and governance expected to influence his approach to monetary challenges. The blend of a new governor and recently appointed MPC members is anticipated to bring a fresh outlook to the RBI’s inflation-targeting strategy.
Economists like Madhavi Arora from Emkay Global Financial Services have noted that the macroeconomic landscape in 2025 presents distinct challenges compared to earlier years. Malhotra’s leadership will be crucial in steering India’s central bank through this complex economic terrain.
Conclusion
Sanjay Malhotra’s appointment as the RBI governor marks a new chapter in India’s fight against inflation. With his fiscal expertise and a revamped MPC, Malhotra is poised to lead the RBI through economic challenges, balancing growth, stability, and inflation control in an evolving global landscape. As India watches this transition, all eyes will be on the central bank’s policy trajectory in the coming months.
