[ad_1] UP Warriorz squad for the WPL 2025 (PC: UP Warriroz/Insta) After finishing third in the group stage and being knocked out by the Mumbai Indians in the playoff during the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) in 2023, UP Warriorz slipped to fourth place in the following season. For the next edition, the franchise showed confidence in its core by retaining 15 players and entering the mini-auction in Bengaluru with three slots to fill. Under Alyssa Healy’s leadership, Warriorz fans will be hoping for a strong comeback this year. Retained squad: Alyssa Healy (c), Anjali Sarvani, Deepti Sharma, Grace Harris, Kiran Navgire, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Shweta Sehrawat, Sophie Ecclestone, Tahlia McGrath, Vrinda Dinesh, Saima Thakor, Poonam Khemnar, Gouher Sultana, Chamari Athapaththu, Uma Chetry. After a disappointing T20 World Cup in Dubai, where Australia were knocked out in the semi-final and failed to defend their title, the upcoming season will be a significant test for Healy as the skipper. There is a high chance that Athapaththu will open alongside Healy. Other international players like McGrath, Sophie and Harris are also strong contenders for a spot in the playing XI. However, it might be tough to leave out McGrath and Sophie from the final line-up due to their consistency. Depending on the opposition and conditions, Harris and Athapaththu could compete for the same spot. If not, Vrinda or Shweta might get a chance as an opener, as that will give Healy to use Harris as a finisher. Veteran Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma will be crucial again, but fans will hope to see more explosive performances from her with the bat. The spin trio of Deepti, Sophie and Rajeshwari will play a key role in the team’s success this season. Meanwhile, Sophie and Deepti are currently the world’s number one and second-ranked bowlers in the shortest format of the game. Uma Chetry, the wicketkeeper-batter, recently played in the West Indies series at home and had a strong domestic season. Kiran will aim to establish herself further as a reliable finisher for the team. Saima Thakor, a regular for Team India, is expected to lead the pace bowling attack. However, players like Anjali, Vrinda, Rajeshwari and Shweta must step up their performances to justify the franchise’s trust in retaining them, despite their lack of impact last season.    For the Latest Sports News: Click Here UP Warriorz associates at the mini-auction (PC: UP Warriorz/Insta) New recruitments: Arushi Goel (Rs 10 lakh), Kranti Goud (Rs 10 lakh) and Alana King (Rs 30 lakh) Arushi is a decent batter chosen by the franchise and is likely to be a backup option for the Indian batters in the squad. Kranti, a 21-year-old from Madhya Pradesh, has played only three T20 matches and taken two wickets at an economy rate of 5.17. However, this will be a great opportunity for her to learn and share the dressing room with star players like Healy, Athapaththu, Sophie and McGrath. Alana, the Australian leg-spinner, seems to be a backup option for Sophie. She was part of Australia’s squad in the recent Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai but did not play a single game. However, in the recent Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), she was the highest wicket-taker for Perth Scorchers, claiming 20 wickets in 10 games at a strike rate of 11.30. This makes Alana a handy option for Healy whenever needed. Overall, UP Warriorz have built a decent team. Their explosive foreign players and strong spin-bowling unit will be key to their success. However, one area they could have improved is adding a quality international pacer like Lauren Bell. The pace-bowling unit, led by Saima, looks a bit weak heading into the next season.    Overall Rating: 7.5/10 Also Read: Delhi Capitals in WPL 2025 Mini Auction: Exciting young talents and strong core ready to break final jinx The post UP Warriorz in WPL 2025 Mini Auction: Stern test awaits Healy & Co appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports.

Khelostar - WPL 2024 Eliminator: RCB vs MI - Fight for the Final!
The pressure is on! It's do-or-die time in the WPL 2024 Eliminator as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) takes on Mumbai Indians (MI) in a high-stakes clash. The winner advances to the coveted WPL final, while the loser's journey ends. Get ready for an electrifying battle between two T20 powerhouses!
Tumblr media
Brace yourselves, cricket fans! The WPL 2024 Eliminator is upon us, and it promises to be a nail-biting encounter. Two of the most decorated teams in the league, RCB and MI, go head-to-head in a winner-takes-all contest with a place in the grand finale on the line. The atmosphere will be electric as both teams boast passionate fan bases and a rich history of success in women's cricket.
RCB's Road to Redemption:
RCB, known for their aggressive batting approach, have had an eventful WPL 2024 campaign. They started strong, showcasing exceptional batting firepower and a potent bowling attack. However, a few inconsistent performances saw them slipping down the points table. But RCB displayed their fighting spirit by winning crucial matches in the latter stages to secure a crucial playoff spot. Their batting, led by the explosive Smriti Mandhana and the dependable captain Harmanpreet Kaur, has been a key factor. Openers Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues have provided RCB with a solid foundation, while the middle order, featuring Richa Ghosh and Pooja Vastrakar, has the ability to accelerate the scoring rate. RCB's bowling attack, spearheaded by the wily Renuka Singh and the experienced pacer Jhulan Goswami, has the potential to dismantle any batting lineup. However, their bowling depth will be tested against a strong MI Cricket batting unit.
MI's Fight Back:
MI, the five-time champions of the men's IPL, have had a challenging journey in the inaugural WPL season. Injuries to key players and inconsistencies in their batting order have hampered their progress. However, the resilience that MI is known for has shone through in recent matches. They have clawed their way back into contention with some inspiring performances, showcasing their never-say-die attitude. Their batting, reliant on the experience of Mithali Raj and the explosive talent of Shafali Verma, needs to fire on all cylinders. The middle order, comprising Harmanpreet Kaur (playing for MI in this match) and the hard-hitting Yastika Bhatia, needs to contribute significantly. MI's bowling attack, boasting the swing of Pooja Vastrakar and the spin duo of Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, is a force to be reckoned with. If they can click in unison, they can restrict the high-scoring RCB batting lineup.
Who Will Emerge Victorious?
This match promises to be a close contest. RCB's batting firepower gives them a slight edge, but MI's experience and never-give-up attitude cannot be overlooked. The team that handles pressure better and executes their skills flawlessly will emerge victorious.
Khelostar Prediction:
The Khelostar crystal ball predicts a close encounter! Both teams are evenly matched, and the outcome hinges on crucial moments and individual brilliance. RCB's batting depth might be the deciding factor, but MI's experience in high-pressure situations shouldn't be underestimated.
Join the Excitement!
Don't miss the WPL 2024 Eliminator between RCB vs MI! Share your predictions on the Khelostar website and join our vibrant online community to discuss the match. Will RCB book their place in the final, or will MI stage a dramatic comeback? Tune in and witness cricketing history unfold!

[ad_1] UP Warriorz head coach Jon Lewis ahead of WPL 3 (PC: WORDSWORK) UP Warriorz have announced the retention of most of their squad for the third Women’s Premier League (WPL) season in 2025. With 15 of their 18 players from last season retained, the franchise aims to build on its current foundation and strive for new achievements together in the coming years. Alyssa Healy, who led the team in the first two seasons, continues as a key part of the squad, along with Deepti Sharma, last season’s Most Valuable Player. The team’s core includes a strong mix of experienced international players and promising Indian talent, including Tahlia McGrath, Chamari Athapaththu, Sophie Ecclestone, Grace Harris, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Anjali Sarvani, and Shweta Sehrawat. In a recent trade, England batter Danni Wyatt moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Parshavi Chopra, Yashasri S., and Laxmi Yadav are set to re-enter the auction pool. This continuity highlights the Warriorz’s approach to strengthen their team’s cohesion and build on their potential from past seasons, focusing on creating a tight-knit unit to pursue success in WPL 2025. Reflecting on team flexibility, head coach Jon Lewis emphasized the value of versatility, particularly in the fast-paced format of the WPL. “What you will see with the group of young Indian players and core batters we have, is that there will be flexibility. They will have to be flexible when they choose to step into international cricket, and this will be a good grounding for them in teaching them different roles and developing different roles within their game. Their ability can open lots of different avenues for them moving forward. So, I think having flexibility and adaptability as a player to play in multiple different spots is really important.” For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Retention List for UP Warriorz for WPL 2025 Remaining Purse – 3.9 Cr#WPLretention #WPL2025 #UP #TATAWPL pic.twitter.com/L929J2PWoV — RevSportz Global (@RevSportzGlobal) November 7, 2024 Kshemal Waingankar, Chief Operating Officer of Capri Sports, shared optimism about the team’s progress as they gear up for WPL Season 3. “The UP Warriorz have begun the preparations for Season 3 of the WPL, and we believe that continuity is one of the key aspects in terms of doing well in team sport.
