Harish Jagtani And His Journey To Transform The Lives Of DRC People

Raising hope for the Congolese natives, Harish Jagtani decided to set up the HJ foundation in the heart of Congo. He started the foundation following the idea that most Congolese people cannot access basic and advanced healthcare facilities. HJ foundation runs several campaigns that revolve around the anti-malaria initiative, Jaipur Foot, kidney dialysis, and DON DE LA VISION ophthalmological campaign.

Harish Jagtani, a philanthropist, visionary, and businessman of Indian descent, has been based in the Democratic Republic of Congo for over 20 years. He is one of the most reputed business owners in the Indian diaspora and the entire business community in DRC. HJ Group of Companies business house caters to multiple domains, including but not limited to Domestic but also International Air Cargo, Real Estate and infrastructure development, CSR, hospitality, and healthcare. 

His foundation, HJ,  started in 2016, is a non-profit organization founded with objectives to bring positive change in the public healthcare sector. by chalking out a path toward humanity, this foundation has contributed significantly during the COVID-19 phase. They helped scores of people during the pandemic, from distributing 10,000 PPE kits to delivering 100s of food packets during the lockdowns.

One of the greatest achievements in Harish Jagtani Foundation foundation activities was bringing the BMVSS team to DRC from Jaipur, Rajasthan, where Harish's story started. the purpose of this team was to push the Jaipur foot campaigns, otherwise known as the Jaipur leg. It's a rubber-based prosthetic leg, which is helpful for patients with their limbs amputated. Since the start of the Jaipur foot campaign, over 500 feet were fitted, including a couple of upper limbs in the Harish Jagtni foundations camp in Kinshasa City. 

Harish Jagtani foundation was free;  people who had lost their limbs were given new limbs and trained on how to use them to fits into their everyday lives. The over 500 people who benefited from the campaign experienced a life-changing transformation. It's hard work and consistency that led to the success of this foundation. Harish Jagtani and his team's determination and grit also helped to transform lives and enlighten hope for the people of Congo.

In recent years, the HJ foundation performed over 100 free surgeries on glaucoma and cataract patients. After delivering light to 100 families, Harish established DON DE LA VISION ophthalmological campaign. along with this, the foundation collaborates with Harish Jagtani Hospital and the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The collaboration ensures that renal dialysis is free and accessible to all individuals, including those without access to basic and advanced healthcare facilities. According to Harish research, most DRC people lose their lives due to a lack of resources concerning renal dialysis. 

For the welfare of the Congolese, Harish Jagtani started the foundation of the HJ Hospitals in 2012. This desire to bring quality healthcare to the people of Congo materialized for four years when the Harish Jagtani Hospitals, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and services unparalleled in the Central African region, was inaugurated in 2016. With the provision of an extensive diagnostic laboratory and an upcoming multi-super specialty hospital to his endeavors, Harish Jagtani became the light of hope for millions of people or Congo who lacked advanced healthcare facilities. Harish Jagtani hospital currently offers complex surgeries in ophthalmology, orthopedics, oncology, cardiology,  and many more domains carried out regularly. Global specialists are associated with this institute in different capacities.

Looking back to what triggered him to start his journey towards helping the people in need, Harish claimed during the foundation's success that he was dedicated to spotlighting grievances, triumphs, and experiences of the underrepresented, needy, and diminished voices in Congo. He enlightened his vision further to unravel the Harish Jagtani  Foundation. In addition, Harish believes that his greatest source of inspiration is his mother, who played a significant role in supporting the fountainhead of illuminating ideas. 

From his humble beginnings in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Harish Jagtani has come a long way to build this conglomerate with a clear vision, intense dedication, and grit. He started with a small job in sales; Mr. and he's currently a proud and righteous owner of a fleet of airplanes and multiple businesses that cater to the basic and advanced needs of the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo in different sectors.
