Rainbow Megamix :: Help Needed!
The Rainbow Megamix Mini Project has been going officially for a week now and it keeps growing with each show looking incredible, the rainbows flying during All This Time and SIBWAWC. Every volunteer reports how excited people are to wave their rainbows during those songs and the flags are always gone incredibly quickly, giving them a rush of excitement and happiness seeing them fly high after.
The project has already been an amazing success, but we still need your help!
We have one show that as of now does not have any volunteers to help pass out flags that we will send to you! If you are attending the show in Hollywood, Florida and are willing to be of assistance, please let us know! You can find all of the up to date volunteer information here, and if you're willing to volunteer for any of the other upcoming fitfwt shows, please reach out. We would love to have you! Thanks again! 🌈 13 July - Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood (Hollywood, FL)

Hey y’all! I’m Sarah! I’m going to be helping out with passing pride flags out at Louis’ faith in the future world tour ‘23 Charlotte, North Carolina show! This project is being set up and helped along by @rainbowmegamix and one other volunteer, so if you’re going to that show, or any others in North America, go to the mentioned @ above to volunteer or just to help spread the word! I can’t wait to see everyone!💙

I need to write some of this while it’s fresh.  Tonight was... something I will never forget which doesn’t even describe it.  Carrying on @rainbowmegamix after such success in Council Bluffs, I talked myself up to have the courage and confidence to take the rainbow flags into a concert I was attending alone and do it dressed as a walking rainbow to stand out so people could find me for flags. I spent hours yesterday putting the sticks in them only to have the venue not allow them.  So I had to de-stick them all and then smuggle them all into avoid suspicion, but I was determined. And then I just... started being the outgoing person I definitely am NOT and just started handing them out.  And for a while I thought it had been a fail and that at least a few were out there... and then it just... took off.  People were coming up to me and catching my eye from across the arena and forming lines to get them and I gave out 750 of my 800 flags before The Snuts were even on. And then I found @queenbeeharry who started giving them out like Oprah. Then I stood in my VERY visible seat and just went hard for queer representation in my own little bubble.  And knowing I was so visible and that I was memorable to everyone I handed the flags out to was so out of my comfort zone.  I pushed through and I’m so glad I did.  I had the best concert of my life just vibing and living my own pride.
I left the concert in tears and I feel its really important to stress why this all felt so big for me.  In 2003 when I was 17, I was a baby gay freshly out to only a close few and finally dating my best friend of years.  I was beyond happy with the freedom of opening that love and I will admit the puppy love was on max. But this was 2003 and it was a different time.  Gay marriage wasn’t even legal yet in a majority of places in the US.  In the back corner of a nearly empty movie theater, I kissed my girlfriend.  It was not obscene or raunchy, it was the kind of giddy pecks that come alone with that new rush.  In the midst of that high, a man approached us and asked if we were both girls.  He proceded to chew us out for doing that in front of his kid and had the manager call the police to have us removed from the theater.  To go from that fearful way of living to being the most visible walking rainbow to a whole arena where I didn’t even have one shred of fear was so empowering and intoxicating.  I was vibing so hard and I didn’t feel perceived by Louis, I felt truly seen. Louis is like therapy and I felt a part of me that was that 17 year old heal tonight. I wish I knew how to thank him for fostering such a safe space 20 years later.

Seeing rainbow lights on the venue, and stage, and crowd for Louis in 2023 after everything he has experienced and been through kind of knocks me out every time I see it. Last night was beautiful. So glad the rainbow projects are here and that he gets to feel that love.
I don’t think that any of us in the 1D days would’ve thought this was possible. I’m so glad it is. I also don’t think the crowd and new fans fully understand just how huge this is for Louis and his fans who have been here for a long time. Louis being associated with ANYTHING rainbow almost felt like a dream years ago, now it’s the norm. It’s so beautiful.
Thank you @rainbowmegamix for keeping it going!

To celebrate it being the last show of FITFWT, what have your favourite moments been of the tour? 💕💕
Dude I was so impulsive and for my own financial wellbeing i shouldnt have done this but i'm pretty sure my fav moment of the tour was impromptu organizing the @rainbowmegamix project (thanks @lululawrence for handling all the socials) and then for the next like three months spending like 1200$ to completely buy out an entire company's stock of rainbow flags and send them to people around the country. Financial decision making? POOR. Getting to see people at every venue in america excitedly waving flags that I made happen? Something I'll treasure forever

I don’t even know where to begin with describing last night (or this whole weekend tbh) the joy and love I felt from the very beginning when we began handing out rainbow flags to people (FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY!!!) was only amplified by the first time I saw everyone waving them for the first time during Andrew Cushin. Looking out over the crowd and being like “shit we helped make that possible” and the fact that everyone had been so incredibly lovely and excited about having flags for Pride and for Louis. It really hit me just how much I LOVE this fandom and how much fandom can be a community.
Tumblr media
And all of these emotions came rushing in BEFORE the show even started!! @lululawrence and @londonfoginacup worked so incredibly hard to put together the flags for @rainbowmegamix and they deserve so much credit for it. All I did was just help hand them out to all the lovely people with @jaerie 🤗
Louis was absolutely incredible as I knew he’d be. He performed the FULL SET LIST and it was AMAZING. INCREDIBLY! PASSIONATE!
I had so much fun dancing and hugging and cuddling with Sus and Emmu and bothering Jenna when all she was trying to do was film for everyone so we can have lovely gifs 🤣 I couldn’t always see Louis cause I’m ShortTM as they all kept reminding me and people were TALL in front of me but he sounded amazing - especially after three shows in a row!!! Like!!! Omg??? And his energy?? Next Level!!!
I will never forget this show. Thank you fandom for being as incredible as you are ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 I hope that for anyone at the show the rainbows were just as comforting for you as they were for me.

because i'm emo about fitfwt in the us and canada, and i won't make people read that long ass diary post i made, this is an excerpt (and more) i want to bring attention to:
eternal gratitude to emmu (@londonfoginacup) and sus (@lululawrence) for being driven by the same thing i felt: “where. is. the. damn. pride!” at the beginning of tour and starting the @rainbowmegamix and spreading it and being so generous.
i get teary eyed thinking about what we've accomplished, and my heart gets so full because... it felt like we really got back on track a bit, didn't we? the sense of safety and community that was so important in last year's tour was felt again. so thank you, thank you, thank you! it meant so much to me, to you and to so many people! thank you to the volunteers that were up for going around the venue giving out flags (addicting, eh?). thank you to the people that were willing to hide flag sticks in their clothing so they wouldn't be taken away by security at some venues. thank you to the people still waving their stick-less flags. thank you to the people that contributed and brought even more flags to distribute at the shows. thank you to staff at some venues being happy about seeing so much pride. mini thank you to the people also waving their flags during other songs outside of the megamix (when the gay spirit strikes, it does!).
Tumblr media
there are so many new fans, and some of them aren't really paying attention to louis' music and are just there to see that guy from one direction they barely remember when they were 7 years old and maybe get a viral video for tiktok about a sign interaction. so... if this project, at every show, even made ONE (1) of those new fans wonder why there were so many pride flags, and maybe dig a little deeper and maybe get interested in who louis really is, watch some old interviews, listen to him, get to know him, see how he's changed over the years... then i'll count that as a win. and i hope everyone felt welcome and safe in that environment, regardless.
we said "bring rainbows back to louis' shows!", and... WE BROUGHT RAINBOWS BACK!
Tumblr media
alright... united states and canada out. over to you, europe! 🌈💚
