Two Found, a Revenge to go

No waaayy I'm actually working on the Raincloud au again?? :0

As the both of them walked Raincloud thought about what she would do if she actually did run into Sizzle again. Surely if her mother saw how he was sympathizing with the scavengers, even after all they did to the three of them-

"Hold up, I saw something." her mother had suddenly said, interrupting her thoughts.

"What is it?" Raincloud responded back.

"I'm not sure, it was moving too fast, but it was heading in that direction." the crimson slugcat pointed in a direction. "We can cut whatever it was off if we go that way." she then pointed at a pipe in the distance.

"What if it was just a lizard?" Raincloud asked.

"It didn't move like a lizard, it moved more like a scavenger if you ask me. And besides, even if it was a lizard, it would be free food."

Raincloud nodded. "Then lets go cut it off."

Raincloud and Artificer had hidden themselves above the pipe that Artificer had pointed at before, waiting for whatever Artificer saw to come through the pipe.

Three flashes of a pale green color from the lights above the pipe, then a familiar face comes out of the pipe.

Artificer was the first to jump down from their hiding spot after spotting Sizzle.

"...pup..?" the crimson slugcat was certainly surprised to see him.

Sizzle jumped in surprise. It looked like he was not expecting to see Artificer so suddenly.

Raincloud stayed in the spot, listening and thinking for a while. She was curious to see this interaction, even if she knew nothing good would come from it.

"Thank the stars I found you! I have been searching for ages!" the crimson slugcat looked like she was about to cry. "Are you okay? You don't look hurt-"

She spotted the torn bit of Sizzle's ear. "Oh my.. what happened? I swear those scavengers will PAY for separating us all."

"It's a good thing I found you, now we can actually start doing some real damage."

Sizzle's ears dropped at hearing that, Raincloud guessed it was because of the whole "being raised by them" thing that he had told her about when they met the previous cycle.

"But..-" Sizzle began, but was cut off by Artificer, who was looking up at the hiding spot Raincloud was still hiding in "C'mon down, it's safe."

And with that, Raincloud jumped down and joined Artificer and Sizzle.

"Now that I've found you both, I don't have to constantly be worrying whether you pups are alright or not." the crimson slugcat sighed in relief. "I'm glad you both are alive."

And that's it!

I was gonna continue this one for longer, but it would have been sitting in my drafts for like.. days, and I don't want that to happen lol

i honestly feel like it's a shame that Artificer's backstory was told through gameplay cutscenes rather than artwork. i mean the gameplay scenes weren't bad or anything, but the intro cutscene and dream sequences that Survivor/Monk got had such pretty art and were really impactful! so i tried to do it myself :D

(i wish every slugcat got illustrated dreams - imagine if we got to see Hunter and Spearmaster have dreams about NSH and Suns. or if we got to see Rivulet's dreams where they're just swimming or eating bubble fruit XD. and Saint could have lore cool lore stuff! it could really help characterize each scug)

Scug design time! I was going to do a whole lineup for them with properly drawn refs a while ago, but clearly i just couldnt get myself to finish that. But recently i decided to just put all of them on the same basic scug blob base and i managed to get them all done!

A bunch of you have asked to see them but I've never really been satisfied with what I came up with... Until yesterday

I believe the incident still would have happened, however the spear barely misses the first pup, leaving it with a scar. That surviving pup then helps save the second one from drowning and getting eaten by leeches. When grown, the first pup gets immunity from acid, and second pup gets very acid saliva (and a nasty bite to go with it). Artificer still doesn't like scavengers, but doesn't go on a murder spree, just becomes a lot more cautious. She also maybe gets her main scar from accidentally getting splashed by acid instead of from fighting scavs... and doesn't get 90% of the other ones that she has in my original design. I'll make better drawings of their designs sometime!

Okay, time for that fun fact about Arti now! Artificer actually has a small immunity to the cold!
