"Though its not as big as my own library, perhaps this public one is a great idea for those in need of books. in general, the quality isn't so great, but it is a good starting point."
"what books would you like to see?"

"I suppose you are not here for confession."
The church was small, a small success that is. The priest is kind and people can get free food whenever they come here, and for someone like Curiambo, its a test everyday to simply not sink his fangs into everything.
"Are you here...for succor then?"

"Its not even good rope, but if you tie it right, it can work."
whatever he was building, it was rather large and by the docks , the beach beside them. Paulie isn't one for sitting around and doing nothing, so he had to start small... a small boat building business. sure it had a lot of stress, but he aint' sitting his ass for a second. and building boats is second nature to him.
"You need a boat built?"

" No sweat! Didn't do much anyway... "
It's barely information with how little he knows. He wishes he could tell her more. For good cause he doesn't mind helping.
" Ahh, nah, there's only this and Klein... and my homeworld. I don't have the ability to move between dimensions cool as it might have been. "
" It's another world yeah - operates on magic, somewhat old fashioned. They got no bullet trains either.... In fact they probably got no trains at all. You got those at least right? "
Continued from here!
"Alright, fair enough. Thanks for lettin' me know what's what."
She'll have to do some more digging on those bigwigs later, but for now, a change of topic is in order.
"So what's Klein? One of these, ah, other worlds you've been to?"
Maria's not much of a world hopper, not unless you count here and where Lonestar wound up.
@kleinstar
#railheist#railheist01#oh yeah - would be handier if it could be done like twitter - setting it only on one post#and then maybe option to have it for whole thread too#maybe its difficult to set up though i dont really know

" ....mm. "
Eiden grows a little less tense, quickly too. Stuff like that doesn't surprise Eiden but he wouldn't say he's unmoved by it. It sets a heavy feeling onto his shoulders. He's been lucky for a long time now but any stumble on his path might have dropped him into similar position.
He's been there, volunteer work and all. Those people deserve more. And that said ... he's also been up there.
" ....I've only ever sneaked in", Eiden notes, " can't say I enjoy hanging out there... I guess the food is good though. For most part. "
Aster would have told him networking in places like that is essential but if Eiden's all honest he doesn't want to work with people that he can't stand on fundamental level.
" I could try...? My store might be a bit controversial in some of their circles though. "
Seems like he's doing pretty well for himself. Maria nods, then takes another sip of her drink. Folks like him are going to be important if she wants to make some meaningful change.
"Well, I was thinkin' of bringing them a few things — the folks down in the canyon, I mean — but they're gonna need a whole lot more than gold and gemstones, if you catch my drift."
"Did you know there are people down there who don't even know what the sun is?" She's not kidding. "And if you're born there, forget about scaling the towers. The folks who own 'em won't let you in."
"Not to mention, with all the winter weather we've got, what do you think's gonna happen when there's a blizzard?" she says. "Everybody'll be shuttered up in what hovels they've got, freezin' their buns off while folks upstairs are juuuuuust fine..."
"Yep... It sure does burn my britches thinkin' about what they're going through. Now, I know you're in Sunset, but as a business owner, do ya think you can pull a couple strings?"

"Never talked with people about this kind of stuff, reckon if they find a way, no way their wasting their chances talking to other people about it."
meaning he never met anyone who left, after all this is something that a lot of people were going through, but Paulie never was a people person to begin with.
"All I've been meeting are new comers like us."
"Shoot."
Well, it was worth a shot. Maria kicks some sand away with her boot.
"That's alright. I don't wager I'd make a good secretary... and my horse is too small to run errands on now."
"Come to think of it..." She places a hand on her chin. "What's the longest you've heard of anybody stayin' in this place?"
There's also the question of "how do people leave," but she'll deal with one thing at a time.

"...Yeah, I don't feel comfortable telling that to you right now. I just got here, you know."
Its common sense not to give people , strangers even your address on the first meeting. got to build up that social bond, you know?
"Its a phone, my name is on it. Lester Macphail, seventeen years old."
"You can call me, if you ever get some more answers."
"Yep. Just gotta keep on lookin'. One day at a time," she says. "Oh, and before you think of wanderin' off too far, the fog'll take ya. I've seen it."
Ominous.
"Do you know what room they gave ya? You should've gotten a key and one of them... rectangle phones."
Maria is thinking of a cell phone, she just can't think of the name right now.

" ....a lot more than lotto really ", Eiden answers a little quietly.
Not just for the big mansion of course - there are things way more valuable for him out there.
" Err, my lil' bro's got quite the big house, I guess? "
" Got my own corner in there! Also got myself a store --- "
Sizewise an underestimation but Eiden's not here to brag over big fancy spaces after all. Eiden would rather end up dead in a ditch than end up like those big 'important' people in their high buildings. That said he's still goes a little unsettled over her note. Eiden's a peaceful guy so a notion of violence has that effect on him - regardless of what he thinks of those 'bigwigs'.
" Ahaha... I guess so...? " he awkwardly laughs, " what, planning on something...? "
Maria glances at the gemstone around his neck. Between that and the mansion he mentions, it sounds like he's worth a pretty penny. She takes a slow sip of her root beer, keeping that in mind.
"Sounds like you won the lotto," she says. "How about now, you got a mansion in Sunset?"
"I'm thinkin' that to make things even in 'Nacci, it's gonna take a lot more than money."

"It is strange." he confirms. "but enough jokes for today. You can stay and help yourself, we have a ...meager spread of succor for today, and the service is over for now."
"If you need anything else, I will be in the back. Running the church with one person is...difficult."
She's confused. "Huh? Yeah, I'm alright. Why're you asking?" She didn't expect to hear this from a priest.
"It ain't that strange. At least, not where I'm from. And just as long as, you know, you got enough teeth..."

"Pass, we got too little cash flow happening right now. This ain't the original gallery-la ship building company either. I can't even hire you as a secretary or for errands either."
He jerks his hand to point at the one boat he's building,
"This here is all of Gallery-la doing right now, start up companies got it rought , I expect ...2 years before I even get solid footing, provided I even stay here that long."
"Paulie. Gotcha."
She types his name in, tapping at the screen with one finger, hits send, then puts away her phone. Paulie should receive 200 Dust, courtesy of a user named "Maria."
"Would be nice to get somethin' to make my house feel more homey, but at this rate... I'm gonna need a job."
"You need an extra pair of hands or anything like that? I'm not much of a shipwright, but, uh, I could learn."

"Believe it or not, this is not the first time my soul has been summoned into the world of the living. Everytime it happens...well I suppose my knowledge becomes broader and broader."
"Connection?" Maria raises a brow at that. "You've got someone to get you up to speed?"
"And whatcha mean by, uh... more permanent?" she says. "If you don't mind me asking."

the way things are... stars...it seemed like his life became one big joke, but who knows. he has to think positively. After all there is no one else he could count on expect himself, that is a basic rule of life, and ...something that he would have to deal with. He couldn't afford to look weak in front of others, after all.
"Its fine, its fine. Nothing can be done about it. its not like you know the way out either."
"Just got to keep looking."
The kid's not happy, and she doesn't blame him. This is a pretty bad hand they've been dealt.
"That's just the conclusion I've reached. You're more than welcome to prove me wrong."
Why, though?
Now that's a question for the ages.
"Wish I could tell you," she sadly says.
She kicks a pebble on the ground before she offers an explanation.
"They say that the people who brought us here are called the Stars," Maria explains. "Now, I don't know who they are, or what they're plannin', but folks say they get up to a lotta trouble."
"It sounds... crazy. I've heard things like... people changin' color, dreams comin' to life... So far, they haven't messed with me in any way, besides takin' my gun and shrink-a-catin' my horse."
"Not to mention everybody I left back home... Hope they're doing alright."
Maria lets out a sigh.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to ramble at ya. That's just the way things are," she says.

" You might find a picture in books? I've got no clue how accurate those are though. "
He'd wager Veoc's spaceships look different from how he knows them.
" But yeah, no clue honestly.... " Eiden has to admit, " I mean I've got this one hanging from my neck but it's from the previous world I was in and all... "
Eiden taps the rainbow gemstone against his chest. He certainly hadn't heard of any precious stone mines anywhere but maybe his information wasn't quite uptodate - he can't also say he'd really even been thinking about it.
" Mm. I guess that sort of thing will be a thing regardless where you go huh? "
Wealth dividing only to certain camps that is. Though that said....
" ....well I did get live in a huge mansion all comfortable mostly free myself thanks to someone's massive wealth back in Klein too but well, still...? "
He wonder how Aster would assert himself on all that.
Maria crosses her arms and accepts his answer. "Huh, alright. I guess I'll know 'em if I see 'em." It's too nondescript for her to really get it, but she's got other things on her mind.
She shakes her head at Eiden's question.
"Nnnnnope. I'm not lookin' for gifts."
"Mostly, I'm wonderin' where they get their supplies from, since there sure aren't a lot of them going down below..."
It's a clear case of enforced poverty if she’s ever seen one.
