and u know how in the wider thorverse context this story doesn't really make sense (how were they both eight. go back to that thor. explain it to us.) but the story being told is funny to me so i don't really care?

that is my attitude to the whole film really. and indeed to the rest of the thor films. they often make no fukcing sense. but i laughed so it's fine. (was i supposed to laugh? well that's a different question and one we can discuss at a later date when i can make myself care enough.)

i never wanted a God Of War Live Action in the first place but now i DEFINITELY dont want a ragnarok LA at all 💀 i really pray to god they stick with doing 2018 ONLY for the 20th anniversary because i can tell the discourse is gonna be trash and even worse since most ppl dont tend to care or disrespect about video games as an art form and are way more stubborn with films/TV Shows and what not. remember when thor tortured loki with the shock disc thingy while loki had spasms on the floor and it was played for laughs even though it's a horrifying thing to do. thor appeared to be enjoying himself doing that, it wasn't even "sorry brother but if I don't do this you'll betray me again" he was smiling and lecturing loki while he couldn't even speak back

Most people seem to focus on that scene and the one where Thor throws the can at Loki's face, but the scene that pisses me off is when he tries to kill Loki right after learning he's alive with the magical weapon that can kill non-squishy beings and only he can use, making jokes about his presumed dead brother right away. And to make matters worse, the dialogue implies Thor's done this before, which makes Thor look worse rather than "ehehe Thor's so clever now and can't be fooled by Loki" (the intended interpretation).

I'd not mind some confrontation, but the joke dialogue as Thor tries to kill him without even hearing him out makes Thor seem like he didn't give a shit Loki was dead. I think it adds context to why Loki might have tried to betray him in Sakaar. I had originally been like "Loki's trying to keep Thor from fighting Hela and dying." But there's also that vindictiveness/anger at Thor trying to kill him at the beginning of the movie.

Imagine you were left for dead after saving your brother's girlfriend and killing a dangerous enemy after a conga of traumatic events and the brother that supposedly mourned you tries to bash your face with Mjolnir the moment he realizes you're alive, and might have probably killed you had your secret sister not arrived. You try to talk to him but are repudiated for your attempts to make peace.

And yes, Loki tried to kill Thor in T1, but at least Loki had larger motives behind him (fearing Thor would kill him for being a Jotun) and he was crying and freaking out, which shows it was not an easy decision. The scene could have worked if the movie had not been allergic to moments of honesty and emotion.

I can make excuses for the disk use and can throwing such as:

1.They're not as squishy as us.

2.Loki was about to betray him.

But yea. Thor seems to enjoy using the disk on Loki WAY TOO MUCH. I can see why it'd upset Thor fans that prefer Thor 1&2 because he doesn't talk like the Thor from previous movies in either wording or sentiments/reactions.

almost all of Loki’s plans are extremely short-sighted and build on each other like a house of cards until they all fall down around him. He’s rarely two steps ahead of himself, and each decision is made based on how well the result will benefit Loki. Sometimes those decisions lead to him working for Thanos, sometimes they lead to him saving the people of Asgard. Loki isn’t really good or bad, he’s just Loki.

I really don't like it when people try to present Team Cap and Team Iron Man as being the same thing, bc they're very clearly not? (And sorry for doing this type of discourse in 2025, but it needs to be said)

Because let's be honest, the mainline MCU didn't really focus on the Sokovia Accords past Civil War. It's not present in Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Homecoming (at least in a large capacity), certainly not Ragnarok or GOTG 2, Black Panther, and almost no one cares by Infinity War. When we look at the projects post Accords, there are hardly any moments where they matter, and by 2025, they're fully repealed. Nine years of being active, five of whom were during the Snap, meaning only four years, and most of the projects don't go very in depth. That tends to lead mainline audiences into believing it was never that bad in the first place and that Cap was being selfish

But we see how the Accords really effect everyday powered people in the supplemental material like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. After being introduced, powered people had three options

Go into hiding. Live a normal life. Never show off your abilities

Sign the Accords. If you were part of a government agency like S.H.I.E.L.D., it is heavily implied you had to sign or you couldn't work for them anymore

Don't sign and show off your powers? You go to the Raft

This went for everyone, it didn't matter if your power was making farts smell good, you counted as powered. Imagine the bank down the street is getting robbed, with these in place, you couldn't do anything about it if you weren't signed or you risked going to jail; they're awful options

Or what if you were signed? Great, now all your information (powers, weaknesses, danger level, LITERALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU) is held in a massive server that can be easily hacked and accessed. We see in AoS s4 that signed Inhumans are getting harmed bc the Watchdogs, a hate organization, was able to get their hands on their information and find out exactly where they were. POWERED PEOPLE WORE TRACKERS THAT WAS CONSTANTLY BEING UPDATED ON THEIR LOCATION. THAT'S FUCKING WRONG IN SO MANY WAYS

Let's switch gears for a sec here and go to another side, where thankfully, that isn't happening to you, but you do wanna make some kind of change in your community. You notice that people are going missing, that there's weird power outages and decide that's worth looking into, so you go to the council and present your case. Now, as we all know, politicians never agree on anything, so the chance of getting an immediate yes is almost impossible (I'd argue 1% is far too generous in this case). It may take weeks, months, or the decision is swept under the rug and oopsies, now the entirety of Florida is covered by a blanket of darkness!

Or you get a no, and actually, they want you to check out this tiny little village in New Zealand, and so you have no choice but to go. You quickly realize that this isn't really worth your time and feel like your services are required elsewhere, but again, you're not able to back out. When you return, you find that London has been utterly destroyed. This is a situation that Steve himself brings up, and it's something that absolutely could happen! There are just endless risks to this

Then, of course, the worst scenario, being sent to the Raft, which, bc it's in international waters, they can do whatever they want to you!! Doesn't matter if it's inhumane, no one can do shit about it. It's stated in "Jessica Jones" that prisoners aren't allowed to have any contact with the outside world, and if you go in there, you go in for good. Almost no one makes it out. Again, it doesn't matter who you were and what your powers were, you would be stuck inside with the worst of the worst. WANDA MAXIMOFF WAS IN A SHOCK COLLAR AND STRAIGHTJACKET. How in any situation is that okay??

With the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct out, I would like to hop into the discourse surrounding prices. For some reason. Apparently I hate myself today.

I loathe the argument that we paid more in the 90s for games than we do now, so we should suck it up and pay $80 for Mario Kart. Yes, it is true that gaming was more expensive in the 90s. I lived it, and couldn’t afford them with my baby sized wallet full of pennies I found on the ground.

But the thing is, in the 80s and 90s gaming was a lot more niche. A much smaller demographic. Do you know the lifetime sales of the original NES Zelda? The one that has existed since ‘86? Approximately 10 million copies in 39 years. And that was one of the more popular titles! What has Tears of the Kingdom sold? Approximately 21 million copies in just 2 years.

So yeah, you often paid $60-80 dollars in the 90s for SNES games, and $50+ for NES games in the 80s, which was a lot of money, well over $100 if you adjust for inflation. But as games sold more and the audience grew, the prices actually started trending downward to appeal to that wider audience. I remember new GameCube games coming out at $50. And we had stuff like Players Choice, where games would get a permanent massive discount. Then shortly after that the standard became $60 for about 20 years. Games weren’t niche anymore, and they stayed relatively cheap in the face of inflation compared to the 80s and 90s.

Now Nintendo just doesn’t do sales anymore. They never lower their prices. Nintendo Selects? The hell is that? They still charge full price for a Switch port of a game they originally released on the Wii U 4 years previous, that in itself is 7 years old now. If Nintendo brought back Players Choice/Nintendo Selects, I wouldn’t be too phased by the $80, I’m a patient gamer anyway, but it’s very unlikely they ever will.

I also am a PlayStation fan. I own a PS5. Do you wanna know how much I paid for God of War - Ragnarok(Ps5 edition) 2 years after release? $30, on sale, from Sony’s own website. Yet in 8 years, when the Switch 3 is coming out, we’ll still be paying $80 for the Mario Kart that was a launch title for the Switch 2.

This ain’t even touching on the price of the Switch 2 itself. The original Switch launched at $300, making the Switch 2 $150 dollars more than its predecessor. Or that game upgrades from switch 1 to 2 will cost money(PS5 does that too, but at least some of them are free.). Old Nintendo branded SD cards that worked on Switch 1 aren’t compatible with 2, and I’ve seen rumors that physical games will cost more than digital, but in the wrong way with digital being full price and physical having a $10 fee added on top of that. The friggin’ tech demo for the system is also being sold separately. I’m surprised Nintendo isn’t charging us to watch the Direct at this point, with how much they’re nickel and dimeing this release so far.

A few types of MCU Loki fans I’ve encountered/noticed being in the fandom for over three years now:

DISCLAIMER: DON’T TAKE THIS TOO SERIOUSLY PLEASEEEE IT’S LIGHTHEARTED!! Some of these things apply to me as well, and some don’t lol. Doesn’t necessarily apply to everyone it’s all just for giggles.

The Lokius shipper Series Fan:

- Usually younger Gen Z. Can be anywhere from 14 to 23 years old. They’re younger teenagers most of the time.

- Heavily on TikTok but also on Pinterest/Twitter.

- Got into the MCU/Loki more recently. Either from the Series, or from Ragnarok.

- For some reason, wholeheartedly believes that one Tumblr post from like ten years ago that states Loki is 16/17 in human years. Even though that’s not canon at all and it does not work like that.

- Favorite depiction of Loki tends to be the Variant/Ragnarok. Sometimes Avengers.

- Almost ALWAYS a fan of Good Omens or OFMD.

- Obviously… Ships Lokius.

- Very anti Sylvie/Sylki, but LOVES Mobius.

- EXTREMELY anti Thorki, even though not a lot of people ship them anymore.

- Spreads a lot of misinformation. Such as taking the fact that Marvel confirmed that the Scepter influenced Loki, and mistaking that with them 100% confirming the theory of Loki being brainwashed by Thanos.

- Thinks Loki’s eyes are green???

- Newer to fandom in general.

- Doesn’t talk a whole lot about the series outside of the ships/fanon discourse.

- Making Loki tree/Yggdrasil jokes CONSTANTLY.

- Either thinks that Loki before the series was completely evil, or an angel. No in between.

- “For you, for all of us 🥺” / “Your savior is here!”

- Often forgets/doesn’t remember the fact that Loki/OG Loki are two different characters, and groups them together.

- Either a Swiftie who likes to constantly joke about when Taylor and Tom dated for 3 months like 8 years ago and also associates a lot of her Songs/Lyrics with Loki, or is someone who has a bit more of an Alternative taste in Music/Fashion.

- Doesn’t really talk about Thor that much, or really wants him and Loki to reunite.

- They’ve probably seen other movies including Tom like Crimson Peak, Skull Island, and High Rise. The more popular ones.

- Owns a lot of TVA related merch.

- “He’s not Odin’s son, or Laufey’s son… He’s Frigga’s son 🥺” or insists on calling Loki by “Laufeyson.”

- In Fanon, sort of treats Loki as a very normal, modern human, and not a god from an entirely different realm.

- Has either dropped the Series/their love of Loki a few months after the Series ended for the “next best thing”, or is currently still raving about all of it.

- Quite immature about other’s opinions/perspectives on Loki/or even people who ship the opposite ship from their own. This is mainly because they’re younger or because they really like their Fanon idea of Loki/Which ship should be Canon.

- Has some questionable headcanons/opinions of their own on Loki.

- Loves Frigga.

- Hates Odin.

The OG Loki fan who’s been a fan of him since 2011/2012, but is a bit more casual about his characterization:

- Usually a Millennial/in their late twenties or mid thirties. May even be in their fourties.

- Has been here for a good while, and saw just about every movie featuring him as well as other MCU movies in the theater when they first came out. Was probably a younger adult/older teenager when Avengers came out.

- Fanfic writer!!

- Favorite depiction of Loki tends to be Ragnarok, TDW, or Avengers.

- Mainly reside on Tumblr/AO3 but also on Twitter from time to time.

- “The Sun will shine on us again.” / “Love is a Dagger.”

- Some depict Loki in their Fanfics in a Smutty/BookTok YA Fantasy Novel style. Some in other ways. They also have a lot of fun with their Fics! So many AUs.

- They are carrying the Loki x Reader tag, I won’t lie. 🫡

- Doesn’t necessarily love the Series, but also doesn’t necessarily hate it. Does prefer the OG Loki they know and love over the Series and had a few disappointments with the Series, though.

- MAJOR Hiddlestoner. Some may like Tom more than they like Loki. Have watched his entire filmography and then some.

- A lot of them have really cool Loki related tattoos.

- Collects a lot of merch. Both from the Series, as well as more OG Loki merch. Also owns about fourty Tom magazines.

- Probably has met Tom/owns an autograph or something signed by him.

- Usually ships Loki with Sigyn, Jane, Tony, or an OC they’ve had since 2013. Honestly, I don’t personally see them that often anymore, but may ship Thorki. Does not really ship Lokius/Sylki whatsoever, or uses Sylvie as a bit of a self insert in Fics.

- Sometimes also a huge fan of Bucky/The Winter Soldier or Sebastian Stan. Associates Bucky and Loki a lot especially in Fics.

- Some are also fans of Star Wars who love Kylo Ren.

- Actually they like a lot of other morally grey characters.

- Probably has a pet named after Loki.

- Feels deeply for Loki, and relates to him in certain ways. Really likes humanizing him in their fics. Loves the more vulnerable side of him.

- Loves Frigga.

- Hates Odin.

The Loki purist/“He’s literally me” Fan:

- Anywhere from 16 - 28 years old. May be a bit older than that. Usually Mid/Older Gen Z, or younger Millennial.

- Has either grown up loving Loki, or became a fan a bit more recently.

- Favorite depiction of Loki tends to be TDW, but obviously can be any of the three OG depictions of him.

- LIVES on Tumblr. A bit of an extinct species elsewhere, but some may also be on Twitter.

- #1 Loki defenders. Very protective of/sensitive about how he is depicted not only in Canon, but also in Fanon. Usually deemed as harsh by series fans/non series haters whenever they criticize the Series or Ragnarok, but in reality, deeply relates to Loki and takes it very personally when he is depicted inaccurately. They see themselves in him, and are so, so, SO tired of seeing him mischaracterized. But also can be genuinely harsh at times. I’ve been guilty of that.

- Either heavily believes the “Thanos Brainwashed Loki” theory, or completely rejects it.

- “I never wanted the Throne. I only ever wanted to be your Equal.” / “Trust my Rage.”

- Very creative. Creates Art of Loki, Fanfics, Edits, Cosplays him, etc…

- Sometimes weirdly resembles him in ways??? LOL. Taking “He’s literally me” literally

- Has a more Alternative taste in Music, Fashion, Aesthetics, etc..

- They either see Loki as their bff, their life partner, or as an enigma to observe. Or all of the above.

- Pretty into Norse Myth, and likes incorporating aspects of it creatively, or when talking about Loki.

- Has a good amount of Fandom experience, and does not tend to argue with other Loki purists/OG Loki fans over petty things. Because at the end of the day… it’s just Tumblr. And we usually all have a common middle ground. Or, is constantly arguing with others.

- They don’t really ship Loki with anyone, but if they do… it’s usually Sigyn or Thor. Or someone really random.

- Either really enjoys depicting Loki in a more Feminine/Neutral form, and wishes his fluidity was depicted in the MCU, or doesn’t talk about it all that much.

- Single handedly keeping the memory of Loki (prior to Ragnarok) alive. 🫡

- Loves the comics, or hasn’t touched a single one.

- Disliked Taika Waititi before it was cool.

- Lost complete trust in the MCU after the handling of Loki’s characterization in Ragnarok, and had no hope in the Series when it was first announced. Or… really hoped it would be our last hope.

- Either deems Thor as the origin of all evil, or actually likes him.

- Wishes it was still 2013 everyday of their lives.

- Either respects/likes Tom to a certain extent, or really does not like him.

- Has a few really cool merch items, or has a lot of everything and anything they can find that doesn’t include Ragnarok/The series. Usually, they DIY their merch.

- Needs to emulate him at any given moment and in any way possible.

- Likes Frigga, but acknowledges that she has messed up in ways. Or really does not like her, period.

- Hates Odin.

The… Male MCU casual/dudebro who strictly lives on TikTok/Instagram/Twitter and did not really like Loki that much until the Series finale came out and thinks Loki is a Sigma Male who dropped everything in order for his friends and his… “Girl” to live:

- ????? Wtf

- Okay I added this one more as a joke because obviously they’re not Loki fans, but…

- Anywhere from ages 15, to 24. No older than that.

- Definitely disregarded Loki’s character before the Series. Also due to him having a fanbase where Women/Girls are the majority. Now Loki is the best MCU character and has the best arc out of everyone else. 🤦🏻‍♀️

- Wholeheartedly believes that Loki was a narcissist/was overreacting about everything he’s been through, or believes that Loki is an angel now because he had a “Redemption Arc”.

- Has never picked up a single Loki comic.

- Jokes a lot about Loki “loving” himself (Sylki kiss).

- Calls the Series “Peak Fiction” just because the rest of the bullshit the MCU has been putting out was absolute garbage, and also because they haven’t really watched anything else.

- If you as an actual Loki fan correct them on any of their bullshit, they act like they know more than you because they loved the series. How could anyone hate it?

- Makes self insert memes/tries to project onto Loki in the absolute worst ways possible.

- Worships the ground that Michael Waldron walks on. Though, they all hated Multiverse of Magic..

- “Let time pass…” / “I know what kind of god I have to be. For you, for all of us.” (Once again.)

- Similarly to our Lokius shipper Series Fans… they do not realize that Loki/the Variant are literally two different people.

- Loves Mobius JUST because he is portrayed by Owen Wilson.

- Really wants not only Thor and Loki to reunite, but also Hela.

- Hated the earlier Thor movies, loved Ragnarok, hated Love and Thunder.

- Probably thinks the treatment of Thor in Endgame was funny af.

Okay I did not want to say anything at all about it as I just assume 1) this person is like 12 or smth and 2) this didnt need to be amplified at all and I thought I could really just get away from this in DECEMBER but this person has been not only trying to contact me but has BEEN mentioning me by name through other’s asks and blogs since OCTOBER. They were constantly tagging me in posts to the point of it not even showing up (I made a post about how I was getting missing notifs. It was them) and when it finally did, it turned out to be stuff I didnt necessarily like or care for and they deliberately was trying to get my attention. even flat out starting one of their posts acknowledging I dislike it and proceeded to write some fanfic that theyre self promoting where it includes things I clearly do not like or care about 😭 They was doing this to @bellaaldamas as well. I had ignored it at first but it got to a point where I had to block them. They sometimes make comments about me and its funny tbh. If I dont wanna be around something or someone, I dont have to be and clearly your bothered about me not giving you any attention. Idk how this person views me but it seems they put me on some pedestal and thats not what im here for. Please do not view me as such, im a fanblog at the end of a day. Behold, I have once more done Proper MCU Fic! This started out as something for Sifki Week 2023 but I failed on that front because I don't think it's Siffy enough so here it is now instead. It's just angsty porn really, but I did carefully [Citation Needed] check that there is in fact room in the first Thor movie for this angsty porn to have happened. Not that this matters at all to anyone, and I'd probably have written it regardless, but I want people to appreciate my extreme amount of effort there.

Ranting About South Of Midnight (and its not what you think), or,

An Open Letter To Whom It May Concern:

The reaction to South of Midnight on Youtube is pissing me off.

Everywhere else, I've seen very little negative reaction, but for some goddamn reason Youtube is hung up on Sweet Baby Inc being mildly involved in it. Like sit down and shut the fuck up, it's another retelling of Alice in Wonderland with an american gothic flavor, it's not that deep. This game existing is not a personal slight to you.

What's more, it's not even Sweet Baby mainlining it. Im really beginning to suspect people don't even have issues with the games they make, they have personal beef about a handful of tweets specific staff members made. Go touch grass maybe? They worked on Alan Wake 2 and God of War: Ragnarok, and I'm not seeing ANY of this energy toward those games even retroactively.

That's not to ignore the issues with Sweet Baby Inc! Those tweets were HIGHLY performative and made in terrible taste and the people who posted them really do need to reexamine what put them there in the first place! But chances are they weren't even involved in this game.

So maybe shut the fuck up and enjoy the pretty music, violently American story, and nice art.

This whole game is a love letter to the southeast corner of the US, get the fuck out of my house if you can't see that.

And to the people going "Oh ItS aNtI wHiTe," actually go walk off a cliff Looney Tunes-style you absolute clowns.

Every character they showcase is morally grey AT WORST, and race has jackshit to do with it.

They are flawed and nuanced and the story does a FANTASTIC job of delving into how what seems to be a good person can do horrible fucked up things when driven to despair.

It's not antiwhite, it's "hey generational trauma is messy! Learn from the past so you can have empathy for the present, you don't know what people are going through or have been through!"

The gameplay loop as far as combat goes, from what I've seen so far, is VERY repetitive. That is a FULLY valid complaint. BUT THEY HAVE A WALKING SIM MODE IN THE GAME. YOU CAN TURN COMBAT OFF.

Honestly, if this had released in 2010, you would have heard nothing but praise for it because it's AN EXACT EMULATION OF THAT ERA OF NARRATIVE STORYTELLING.

And that's not to say it's outdated! Rather, it's nostalgic in the best ways!

Anyway. I just wish it was being given a fairer shot on bigger social media platforms, and the people in the comments section would just shut up and give it a chance instead of letting what amounts to a one-sided grudge color their judgement. It's not a perfect game, but it's infinitely less of a corporate, sanitized slog than a lot of modern AAA games have devolved into.

And I really hate that online gaming space discourse has morphed into "it has to cater directly to meeeeeeeee or its bad!!!!1"

No. Shut up. Other people with other experiences are just as allowed to have their stories told as you, if you can't abide by not feeling the main character in a game is a 1:1 representation of you personally, you need to go back to playing MMOs and stay the hell away from narratives. Otherwise, your misery over it is your own fault and it's not mine or anyone else's problem that you're in a tizzy.

i keep seeing the "loki is 17 in earth years" thing circulating again and im gonna lose my mind (partially bc its being used in shipping discourse) and im genuinely curious if were supposed to think he would be that young / or early 20s physically in the first thor through avengers??? (and therefore also the show lol)

this was based on the "asgard to earth years math" based on odin possibly being 5000+ and loki being 1047 in thor 1 and 1048 in avengers and taking the human average lifespan and long story short the math turned out to be "17" which is stupid for multiple reasons...

main one being bc i feel like ..... thats kind of like when people say oh my dog is this old but 70 in human years! it doesnt really mean anything

but i only started thinking abt it again bc i saw that in a what if episode coulson referred to thor 1 thor as mid 20s ...?

and further hemsworth called thor 22 in a behind the scenes thing for (love and thunder i believe? or maybe ragnarok i dont remember) so now im curious is loki really supposed to be like somewhere between 17-21 physically and im losing my mind over people making it fucking weird

asgardians (ik hes not asgardian but im assuming jotuunheim has similar maturity rates or whatever) clearly age differently so equating their maturating to human years would be dumb anyway right like . clearly if loki and thor rolled up to earth they would both be adults ? and were also treated as such on asgard?

anyways im overthinking but its making me feel WEIRD (esp in regards to shipping bc i deadass saw a sylki shipper say u cant ship lokius bc of lokis supposed earth years age like.... baby thats a grown ass man....and wasnt sylvie also supposedly like 1000+ older than him as well...so....)

This is SO late, but I just have to say my piece on the Loki Series and Mobius (both derogatory).

The only good part of the series was when Loki landed in the Gobi Desert and flicked away his gag, after that, all the gentrification, oocness, and other stupidity began for me. The way he would never say 85% of those lines, and how he was made to be so “quirky” via humiliation after the Battle of New York?

Mobius is so fucking far up his own delusions, like he basically watches other realities and people through screens, he only socially interacts with other TVA staff, is friends with one of the main fascists in charge, etc. 

His fucking “I’m a nice guy” act makes me want to fucking punch him all the more harder.

In some ways, I have more respect for that TVA officer in Roxxcart being like “they’re all going to die” and Loki for say that also in Pompeii, than Möbius’s meandering holier-than-thou bullshit of basically softening the blow with “good taste” by distracting a little girl with candy as he blows up her timeline.

People hate on Brad for his treatment towards Loki, but love on Mobius for that v similar treatment. Talking down to him, condescending him as not a threat, calling him privileged and harmless and basically saying that he knows Loki better than he knows himself.

I will be forever be disgusted and spiteful that Mobius never got treated as nearly much contempt as Brad and Renslayer, nor did he have something horrible happen to him because of Loki.

Like he just EMBODIES the naive, starry-eyed fool that arrogantly thinks he’s an expert on someone but will never get out alive once meeting that someone.

It was far more interesting to me to see Loki in captivity in “Avengers” and “Dark World”  (both had flaws for me) acting like Hannibal in “Silence of the Lambs” than the bullshit I saw in the Loki Series. And “Dark World” also let him have some more vulnerability without completely demolishing his dignity and character.

I got up to the episode after they met He Who Remains, and I don’t think I’m going to finish this mess. 

So sorry for seeing this months later. Thank you for the ask! Honestly… The second I pressed play the first episode of the series when it came out in 2021, I just knew that… this is going to be really bad. When he first walked into the tva, I was bewildered at how out of character he was. This is Avengers 2012 Loki we’re talking about! He would not say that shit. Instead of his usual dry, sarcastic, old englishy-esque way of talking and humor, it was, as you perfectly put it, very… “Quirky.” He wasn’t even that “quirky” in Ragnarok!

Exactly! The “I’m a nice guy” thing about Mobius has always irritated me so badly. I’ve really never liked him, and was surprised to see such a positive reaction. The negative reaction to Sylvie, I expected of course, But… they’re both bad! Wish people would understand that.

Yeah.. the double standards with Brad/everyone else, and Mobius are so annoying. Why is it okay for Mobius to continuously belittle Loki, throw him into a time loop where he is repeatedly physically assaulted, mock the death of his mother, and all the other bullshit he put Loki through just because you want them to be together romantically? And… this isn’t even some toxic relationship “turned better” situation. They don’t even acknowledge the shit Mobius has done to Loki!

People don’t even talk about the other bad things Mobius has done. It’s a series about people being mislead and morals being questioned, yet… so called fans don’t get into any of it at all. Just ship discourse, and fanon. If I liked the series… I think I’d get into the themes of chaos versus order, the people of the tva being mislead and lied to, etc… But they don’t even do it in the series as everything is a second thought, and doesn’t match up. The writers don’t care, and neither does the fandom.

Agreed! Series fans always say that the belittling of Loki, and the underutilization/erasure of his past characterization is just him… “healing” and being “vulnerable”…. Loki has been vulnerable before after the events of Avengers 2012 (Tdw), and he still was him! It wasn’t an immediate switch in his behavior, and didn’t erase everything that made him, him!

The psychology of Loki’s character from Thor 1, to the dark world was so interesting, and even well done at times. I know a lot of people on this side of tumblr don’t love Tom that much after the series, but I truly do think he understood Loki very well, and portrayed him beautifully back in the day. There was so much care put into his characterization. He stood out from the snarky, quirky superheroes of the mcu.

I miss when it was understood that Loki’s character should reflect the origins in Norse myth. That he is not evil, nor good. Not that he’s strictly good, and not at all evil just because he’s suffered! He’s the god of mischief, chaotic in his nature. Not the god of anti hero with a shitty redemption arc!

Ugh, people are so blind to everything that happened with Mobius, because they’re too focused on shipping him with Loki. Some have the nerve to complain about the mischaracterization, while not realizing that their ship is mischaracterization as well! You can’t cherry pick.
