i finished my raggedy andy doll so i went out and did a little photoshoot of him and his sister

Mines is Witch Ann she's so ADORABLE, also she has brown hair which is pretty odd but I like it

The brown hair isn't strange at all, Raggedy Ann started out with brown hair!

These are Volland dolls, the first mass-manufactured ones.

As far as my favorite alternate costume, I don't know if this counts since it was never made into a doll, but I am in LOVE with the Sweetheart Sluggers concept and I wish it had become a doll design.

Introductory post!!

Hi!

Welcome :D

Some Raggedy Ann friends got together and decided to start a blog just for identifying and giving people information about their Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls and other various merchandise! We are all dedicated members of the Raggedy community, with together a good bit of knowledge about the different eras of dolls and their values.

Just send us an ask or submit a post with pictures of whatever you've found, and we'll let you know all we can about it!

~ If you send something in, we'll just let you know what year/maker it is.

~ If you'd also like a general idea of the value, let us know. Giving specific price ranges is finicky, so I think we'll be putting things into one of three general categories, based on if it's highly valuable, worth something to collectors, or worth more for sentimental value :p

~ If you found it for sale and are considering buying it, you can send it to us to! We'll let you know if we think it's a fair price

But remember, no matter the worth,

I have the urge to talk about the latest version of the raggedy ann doll so im gonna. I only have the raggedy ann not andy so its just her for now.

This is her with a playskool raggedy ann for comparsion (the playskool one is the closest one to before her that i have there might be newer versions than the playskool one i have).

Lil edit because someone shared that there are newer dolls than the playskool one i have so the comparisons of the dolls arent side by side.

I wanna start with what i like about her because i dont wanna complain too much because she is a cute doll. I LOVE the details on her apron especially the bows, the previous factory made aprons are pretty plain outside of the little fabric square in the pocket. Theres little kind of lace at at the top and bottom which is really nice i hope at least thats kept if theres future dolls made. It feels like a nice compromise since homeade raggedy anns have ric rac on their aprons which might be too tedious to have on mass produced dolls. For the embroidery face im not really sure how to feel, it might be because im not used to that kind of embroidery on raggedy anns so i dont wanna say i dont like it since i can see myself warming up to it. The embroidery will also likley hold up better to time/use than printed on faces. I dont like the eyebrows tho they are too small compared to the eyes.

No onto the things im not a fan of, she looks kind of uncanny. I think its her head being slightly too long. She also just doesnt feel like a raggedy ann in a sense, im probably just biased towards the older ones. You can usally tell the different eras of each doll but they often have the same kind of feel. I think a good jump in styles is the storybook raggedy ann.

Granted they are based on the books and arent just redesigns but i think its a good shift in style while keeping the feeling of the other dolls.

Honestly i think im just sad at the fact that nothing else is being done with her. I understand shes old and isnt a popular doll with kids anymore but she does still have a audience they just arent kids. I wish hasbro would take into consideration the audience of the dolls. She feels like she is a modern redesign for kids except there isnt really a effort on trying to advertise to kids. Id love to be wrong but it seems like they were just released in stores without even a short story for the doll. Her whole thing was she had a story with her, which i think is a missed opportunity when she has a new look but not a new story.

To end on a light note i looked at auroras website and a image of her was squished which i think was funny

My newest raggedy, she doesn't have a matching andy (yet), but she's my first official raggedy ann! I have two unofficial sets, but this one says "I love you" on her chest and has a heart!

I'm hoping to get her an andy sometime soon, they seem to run from $15-20, this raggedy was only $3 though, so I feel like it evens out lmao

I love her 🥹❤️ she's a teeny tiny ragdolly! I love her shoebutton eyes and her flowery dress, such an awesome find!!!

my mom was gifted this raggedy ann doll from an acquaintance a year or so ago. she works with children and is used to receiving gifts like these so she thought nothing of it, until she started to showing up in her nightmares that she would have for days, even weeks on end. she wanted it out of her room so she gave it to me instead (this used to be my favorite childhood toy, so i was more than happy to take it).

a few days later she told me the night terrors stopped and is absolutely convinced this thing is haunted. haven't had any doll-related nightmares ever since she's been in my room, so i don't know what kind of beef she has with my mom...🤷🏽‍♀️

I was wondering what type of Raggedy Ann doll was Poppa holding? That's all have a good day!!

this one is a bit contentious, and we're not 100% sure what doll it is since we have no good pictures of it.

since this doll has custom clothing made specifically for this production of the stage musical, the best way to identify her is by her face. however, due to the low resolution of the video, it's hard to make out the details on her face.

i believe this doll is either a 1980's Applause doll with the side-glancing pie-cut eyes

or an early Hasbro doll from the 1980s, manufactured right after Hasbro bought the licencing for raggedy dolls

but neither of these guesses are confirmed! just what i and others have come up with from staring at the video for a few years lol
