Height: Comparatively tall for a midlander, standing at around 6″ 2′.

Age: We’re so close to his - and my - birthday (July 16th) that I may as well say 31. Or just ‘early thirties’.

Zodiac: Byregot - Lightning Aspect

Languages: Common Eorzean (Mawil tagged me and put the rest of her stuff under the read more so I will do that here too. Besides I don’t like to spam.)

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS.

Hair colour: Dark ash/grey.

Eye colour: Icy silver.

Skin tone: Warm ivory.

Body type: Athletic, broad-shouldered. 

Accent: Not sure about accent, but he definitely has the tone of a middle-class, educated person.

Scars: The most prominent scar on Rufus would be the extremely visible one marring his brow in a diagonal line. Beyond that, his body is covered in a myriad of scars of various origins. From slashing wounds, to claws, to bites, to bolts, to fire/magic, to sheer impalement. Refer to this post for a solid example.

Most noticeable features: If he is seen without gloves, one would note that on the back of his right hand, the skin is mangled and deformed, and seems to resemble the rough shape of the three spears of Halone. In addition, his left hand isn’t even of flesh at all. Instead it is a facsimile of an arm crafted of black metal which seems to be perpetually chilled to the touch.

He didn’t do much to help Rufus grow up. At least, not in the traditional sense. Drystan’s involvement forced Rufus to mature at a far younger age than he should have.

Occupation: Adventurer, Voidsent hunter

Current residence: He presently stays within his Company’s hold in the residential district of Limsa Lominsa.

Close friends: Rufus hasn’t been fortunate to be blessed with a variety of close friends. Many who he had been close with have either since gone far afield, or passed away. This hasn’t left him with mild abandonment issues at all, no.

St Jean de Luz - San Sebastian

Oulalalala, ce blog parait bien abandonné… On ne s’est pas arrêtées de pédaler pour autant même si la moyenne kilométrique a bien diminué. Reprenons donc !

Nous vous avions laissés à St Jean de Luz, prêtes pour l’Espagne.

Enfin, prêtes, on faisait un peu de résistance, et les éléments ne nous ont pas aidées. Attente d’une nouvelle carte bancaire un jour, deux jours. Trois jours ? Non, envie d’avancer ! Nous avons donc filé vers Irun une première fois, avec l’idée de faire une boucle dans les terres et de repasser chercher le sésame bancaire plus tard. Bien nous en a pris, car c’est bien connu, c’est dans les imprévus que les belles choses se passent…

Conseillées par moult personnes, nous avons donc pris la vallée de la Bidassoa. Une ancienne voie ferrée reconvertie en piste cyclable, le long d’une rivière, ça semblait chouette… Mais sans feuilles dans les arbres, des aménagements vraiment pas terminés et surtout, surtout, un tracé qui suit conscencieusement celui d’une nationale remplie de camions de jour comme de nuit… On s’est arrêtées à mi-chemin. Plutôt que de filer jusqu’à Pampelune comme imaginé, on a bifurqué dans la vallée de Baztan et rattrappé St Jean Pied de Port par le col d’Ispéguy. Et la vallée nous a offert de nombreux villages basques, les pâtures bordées par des murets de pierres sèches, les églises qui sonnent les quarts d’heure et les mômes qui trimballent les moutons entre les enclos. Sans le vernis touristique qu’on a pu voir en France, on a un peu eu l’impression de remonter le temps…

Six kilomètres d’ascension à 7% plus tard, nous étions de retour “en France”. Et pas peu fières d’avoir grimpé notre premier vrai col. En prenant notre temps, sans forcer, on en est capables !!!

De ce côté-ci, il y a des touristes, des itinéraires découverte et des appellations fromagères et viticoles (Osso-Iraty, Irouleguy). Et toujours plein de moutons! Et puis, surtout, des belles rencontres… En quelques jours, nous avons été accueillies dans la chouette coloc’ d’Adèle, puis chez Morgane et François et les enfants, et enfin chez Raffu. Tout plein de discussions sur les voyages à vélo (bien sûr), nos expériences professionnelles, questions et remises en questions, l’agriculture locale, la culture basque, etc. Après avoir vu tous ces moutons dans la montagne, on a pris un vrai plaisir à découvrir la ferme de François et à participer à la traite des brebis le temps d’une soirée. Et puis avec toutes ces personnes et l’actualité (article du Monde, juste en NB) qui s’en est mêlée, nous avons eu de longs échanges sur l’identité basque, comment elle peut se construire et/ou se ressentir, se traduire politiquement, et être plus ou moins revendiquée. Avec deux bonnes semaines passées en terre basque et tous ces riches échanges, nous avons repris notre route vers l’Espagne (carte bancaire en poche, enfin !) nourries, remplies, joyeuses, et prêtes pour la suite de l’histoire ! Ainsi donc, nous sommes repassées à Irun, mais pour aller vers San Sebastian, cette fois-ci…
