So this is for all of you who are in love with the Ghostface Voice (aka Roger L Jackson) or have a thing for voices in general.
Introducing: Radio Voice.
Please play OR at least watch a playthrough of:
radio.Signal
It's a short horror visual novel. Like an hour, and if you have decent internet, it shouldn't take long to download.
Premise:
- "I know every nook and cranny of this place." - "All you have to do is listen to my voice and do exactly as I say." - "As long as you trust me, you’ll find your way around."
Such are the words of the mysterious voice who talks to you through a radio.  It wants to guide your path as you traverse a dilapidated hospital in the middle of the night. Your objective: to reach Room 521, and meet the patient awaiting for you there.
But this is not an ordinary hospital: it is a place forgotten by the world, where people come to die. And you're not the only living being lurking its halls. Will you reach Room 521 in one piece? Who is the mysterious voice guiding you through the radio? And can you really trust them?
Just remember: never turn the radio off.
So the Radio Guy's voice, the one who guides and speaks to you is so sexy HNNNNNGH. Whoever voices him? A god.
More importantly, I'd love to hear you guys' theories on his identity. Is he real? Is he a voice in your head? Please tell me your theories!

posting this bc i’ll probably never finish it, (rlly short) wip for radio.Signal from back in november last year. im not entirely sure where i was going with this
---
to call this place a hospital would be a disservice to hospitals everywhere. but the sign outside declares itself: felix bloom hospital, the few staff wear glossy badges with the words hospital staff embedded in it and in the end you are only six years old and you don’t know much of anything anyway.
the first time you meet your friend, you are at a hospital. the bathroom sinks are spotless. it feels oddly strange - bathrooms by nature should not be as spotless as this one - but you go about your business and pretend the sight of your reflection in the sparkling metal taps doesn’t make you want to dig your fingernails into the curve of your eyes. your friend steps into the room, and he will call you wary later, a diminutive little thing, but in that moment all you can do is stare blankly at the boy in front of you. "hello," he says, voice empty of static and and the undercurrents of malice, "my name is -"
-
your friend is not that much older than you. he carries himself differently regardless, like he knows exactly what he's doing and where he's going at all times.

Waoh just watched a lets play of radio.signal because of your post recommending it and i also, love voices. I am now in love. I would really like it a lot if you ended up writing for the voice.
Do you think he's a voice inside of the player's head? or is it a literal partner in crime on a radio? Also weird but I am very attached to this from him
'No. No, no, no. I was going to say to "turn left". Why couldn't you wait for me to finish." "It's always been like this. I tell you to do something, thinking of your own good, but you just...won't...listen.'
It's crazy because of how every time you don't listen to him, you really do get hurt. But at the same time its oh so clear that this voice isnt good for you.
But do you think it's an actual voice on a radio? Or a hallucination? Please dicuss.
Sorry for answering this a bit late, I just really wanted to give a good response since this is the ONLY ask I have for it but YES YES YES IM SO GLAD YOU WATCHED A LETS PLAY OF IT.
It's so...Ugh. I feel like most of my followers would really like it and find it compelling.
The complexity, for me, lies not just in the Radio Voice, but in his and the player's relationship itself. The clear dependency we have on him, the way he relishes in it. His surefire ideal of control over the player.
And when he tells you to apologize to him for tripping and hurting yourself.
"Say that you're sorry."
Fuck man.
I'm almost 1000% sure it's supposed to be a voice in the player's head. Buuuut, the creator did say it was up to interpretation in the end...
So because I'm a filthy whore for partners in crime, I'd like to think it's a sexy-sounding, yet toxic accomplice guiding us into finishing what we started.
One line that gets me, though, (besides the entire ending) is:
"We're in this mess because you couldn't even kill a person right, so how do you expect to stand up to me?"

⚠️ Spoilers ⚠️
Imaginary was the winner so I saw it today!
Tumblr media
This movie is very predictable. The horror is excruciatingly boring. I understand it has a PG-13 rating but the atmosphere and scares are super weak.
Which is frustrating because the premise of this movie is EXTREMELY INTERESTING!!!
Imaginary friends being spirits/entities that feed off the imagination of humans. Preferring children due to their endless imagination unlike adults who become weighed down by the stress of reality.
Most spirits/entities accept that children will one day outgrow them. However Chauncey Bear, the imaginary friend in this movie, was unable to. Becoming aggressive and frustrated from the pain of being "abandoned" by Jessica.
Paired with his complicated feelings Chauncey Bear is now using Jessica's step-daughter named Alice. He hopes to trap them both in his realm called the NeverEver. However his main target is Jessica since her imagination was vast.
Chauncey Bear craves that imagination once again.
Jessica was so imaginative she even became a children's book author. As she's grown up however while still large her imagination has weakened enough he feels he can finally control and trap her.
To me the best scenes in the movie are the ones that explore Chauncey Bear's character. He's manipulative and horrible yet a part of you wants to sympathize with him.
One scene involves Alice and him discussing the children's book Jessica unknowingly wrote about their friendship/experience together called Molli Millipede. In it the protagonist is being chased by a character called Simon the Spider. Alice finds him scary but Chauncey Bear explains how Simon just doesn't want Molli Millipede to leave him. Reflecting Chauncey's feelings towards Jessica.
There's also this scene where Alice and Chauncey Bear argue. It shows the absolute worst side of Chauncey Bear and it is the best scene in the movie.
What's frustrating is that this movie WANTS to be serious yet will sacrifice that for bad comedic relief. The tone shifts back and forth like a metronome. When it leans into the toxic friendship between Alice and Chauncey Bear it thrives. However it takes such a compelling part of the movie and muddles it down by simply having Alice behave creepily.
Instead of breaking down the entire movie's plot I just want to discuss one element. The imaginary world called NeverEver and the Imaginary Friend Chauncey Bear.
NeverEver's design felt very similar to Coraline.
Door that leads to an alternative world:

There's counterparts to their real versions in the NeverEver that have glass eyes like a teddy bear instead of buttons:

THERE'S AN OTHER MOTHER LIKE SCENE:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most fascinating part in NeverEver is its design.
A long labyrinth similar to M.C. Escher's artwork.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Endless blue doors, checkered pattern floors and a cloud roof.
The visuals are so satisfying but the movie doesn't play around with this world enough!! Outside this labyrinth hallway we only see inside two imaginary areas. One reflecting their current home from Jessica's perspective as a child. The other being the apartment the daughters used to live in with their birth mother.
THAT'S ALL WE SEE IN THE IMAGINARY WORLD!!!
As for Chauncey Bear's design I'm not 100% against it. I just don't think it was utilized properly. Having an imaginary character be restricted to four design feels like a missed opportunity.
The three imaginary/fake appearances he has are:
The Teddy Bear (it not being real is a twist in the movie), a monstrous bear and a spider man hybrid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will give this movie MAJOR props for using practical effects instead of CGI. Even the regular Teddy Bear was an animatronic.
Monstrous Bear costume: https://youtube.com/shorts/dYM0ehctgVI?si=xiLMlIe5OoXSmZX8
His real form:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chauncey Bear's real form is very bland. Which I think is intentional. A basic looking character who craves creativity. Grey skin, no mouth and eyes that can show the imagination of countless children. If you look into them for too long it can cause you to become overwhelmed and lose your sense of reality.
THERE'S SO MANY COOL ELEMENTS!!!!
However I can't recommend this movie. The concept is so fun but the execution is a snooze fest. Honestly I'm having more fun imagining a better movie where we got to explore Chauncey Bear's darker and manipulative side.
In the movie in order to enter NeverEver you need to finish a check list, draw a door and then burn the items you collected. One of the requirements on the check list is hurting yourself. The checklist pushes the person past their boundaries to prove their friendship to Chauncey Bear. THAT'S SO MESSED UP AND DARK!!!! GIVE ME A WHOLE MOVIE FEATURING THAT!!! ALONG WITH THE WAY A CHILD WOULD USE AN IMAGINARY FRIEND TO COPE AND ESCAPE REALITY!!!
