I'm sure this rip's been a long time coming for many - I know it has for me. I've had i love(d) you sitting in my drafts as far back as in March, but truthfully it's...daunting, to write about. Requested by two readers. Close to 200 thousand views on YouTube, and recently featured prominently in popular Clone Hero YouTuber Acai's "The Quality of SiIvaGunner" series. And the rip itself being an emotional gutpunch in a season filled with them, from a ripper who's already gutpunched me plenty with Wham! Into Dreams and The Paragoomba and the Wiggler. vvsvlogs, Vivi, I ask this with the most sincere gratitude possible - why must you do this to me?

Minecraft as a game has its emotional hooks in at least two generations of people - that much I think we're all aware of. A sandbox filled with endless possibilities, community, friends, individual stories of survival or of great creative endeavors, all wrapped in C418's hauntingly beautiful score, one I've discussed many times before with Fell From a High Place (Reprise), M-O-O-G City and Every Mob Wants To Rule My World. All of these rips are beautiful, yet they're all aiming to play with Minecraft's sound in some way - the former two rips are arrangement of its music with other games' instrumentation, and the latter rip is a melodyswap playing Everybody Wants To Rule The World. They all play on my senses in their own ways, they're all rightfully impressive - but nothing hits quite the same as Minecraft's own music, on its own terms. i love(d) you isn't aiming to impress or amaze - but it lands a full-on critical hit on one's heart through leveraging everything that's kept Subwoofer Lullaby alive for so many years.

I've talked plenty about my musical illiteracy, and so I hope it doesn't come as a surprise that I've never really listened to world-renowed singer Billie Eilish. She's been on the radio, I've heard Bad Guy, but it was never a name I gave much more thought beyond seeing her discussed online from time to time. You can imagine the absolute awe I was in when I clicked on i love(d) you when it first went up, already expecting an emotional hit due to the Minecraft song used, only to get goosebumps from Eilish's vocals alone. i love you is the penultimate song from Eilish's debut studio album, the very same that Bad Guy was featured on - yet compared to that track's bass-heavy, almost seductive energy, i love you feels remarkably personal, with little more than an acoustic guitar and piano accompanying the openly emotional vocal performance. It's sincere in a way I don't hear enough music be, as if a diary translated into song, much the same emotion that Because I Love You conveyed yet with even greater magnitude due to the vocals in play.

i love(d) you, uploaded for 2022's valentines day, wields both of these forms of love - the connections many of us have to one of the most impactful games ever made, and the unfiltered emotion of i love you - to create something unabashedly beautiful. Mashups aren't a novel concept, mashups are nothing new - yet one glance at the comments tells me that I'm not alone in finding this rip in particular to have struck an incredibly sensitive nerve. Because there's a beauty to Minecraft that I think many of us oft forget about. It's a game that we all cherish, yet also one that's very easy to have left behind: we have adult responsibilities, we have school, we have other, shorter, more concise games, we have social media, we have friends, we have blogs...the solemn beauty of playing the game itself is, for many viewers like myself, not much more than a memory, something that can feel ever so difficult to recreate without feeling as if something's wrong.

We...I'm...not a kid anymore.

There was nothing about i love(d) you's concept that necessitated it to be more than just the mashup. There rip had no need for visuals that'd help convey the edit like with Plantasia 2 or Luna, mi Amor, no need to tickle the funnybone like with SUNGORE or the hundreds of other YTPMV rips on the channel. Yet, halfway through the rip, to the tune of Eilish's soothingly reverberating vocals, the background begins to change, not to a bit, not to a reference nor easter egg...but to Minecraft. To where all of this attachment began - to a far-off view of the game's beautiful landscapes as the sun begins to rises. That digital world that looks different for every player, yet the same in everyone's hearts - that place that, no matter how many years pass, how long its been since we last played, we all love. Its impact different to everyone, yet the feeling unanimous. It drives home how well the mashup works not just as a mixture of two deeply emotional songs, but as music tied to a shared experience: all of our Minecraft worlds looked different, all of our personal lives look different, but we've all played the game, and we've all had affection for it.

Every moment I spend thinking about this rip aches in some way. It's been well past two years since it was first uploaded, yet it continues to follow me as the years go on, my mouse drawn to it any time it reappears in my recommendations. In being featured on 2024's Now That's What I Call Quality! 3, I think the team holds much the same sentiment - even as the months pass, i love(d) you is the kind of rip that'll never fall out of favor, never stop meaning things to people. And realizing that it was made by vvsvlogs, the very same vvsvlogs who's already made me far too emotionally vulnerable on here twice before, has only made it mean that extra bit more to me.

I'm not a kid anymore. I know that. But I'll always be grateful to SiIvaGunner, the people behind it, and those who follow it along with me, for being able to bring me back to that state of mind when I least expect it.

Ah, whump, my most beloved genre of fanfiction. What is whump? Whump refers to stories prominently featuring injury or sickness and/or the care and recovery thereof. This is most often in the hurt/comfort category or the hurt no comfort category. It is a wonderful opportunity to shake up dynamics and reveal hidden character depths in a high stress situation. What do you do when the strong one is hurt? How does that call into question your feelings towards them? How does that call into question their feelings towards themself and their role? Who will care for the one who always caretakes? It’s a great tonal shift too. Just *chef’s kiss*. Plus, you know what? It’s sometimes just fun to run your favorite characters through the plinko.

How do you tag whump and why should you? The tags on ao3 to use are”

Between A Rock And A Hard Place by Sam Walker

To save Daniel’s life, Jack has to do that hardest of all things: talk.

This fic is written from Jack's perspective. Daniel is involved in an accident off-world and the only thing Jack can do to help is talk to Daniel while everyone else works. I love this fic for the interaction between Jack and Daniel, and for the insights into Jack's motivations. Despite being mostly Jack and Daniel, you get a sense of camaraderie about SG1 and you can see just how much Jack cares about his team.

For the reincarnation au: What do the girls think of the film?

Story time!

When they first hear about the film, it’s early November, just before it came out in cinemas. They watch the trailer together and… well, Dolores thinks it’ll be awful and doesn’t really care; Isabela is the one suggesting to sue Disney; Mirabel is in denial; and Luisa is open to giving it a chance.

Thinking it’ll be funny to boo at, Isabela gets tickets for them all to see it at the cinema.

Dolores takes them for a trail run of a cinema trip to see a different film, so they know what to do - she will know how to keep Isabela on her best behaviour and Mirabel won’t be as anxious. The trip is successful and they all are looking forward to the film a little bit more.

24th November, 2021…

Mirabel manages roughly 8.5 seconds (“This is where our magic comes from?”) before leaving. Because of how early into the film they were and sudden her departure was, the others don’t worry initially. Maybe she just needed the bathroom. They are a few minutes in (‘The Family Madrigal’) when Luisa decides to check on her. She finds her sister outside the building. Realising that the film is triggering her PTSD, Luisa does take her home and spends the evening comforting or distracting her.

Because of the no phones rule, Dolores and Isabela don’t see the texts from Luisa until after the film. Speaking of, they both really enjoyed the film - though do think it was a bit invasive to watch without Mirabel herself. Like reading a diary.

Luisa still wants to see it but doesn’t want to go alone. However, rather than buy more tickets, they wait for it to come out on Disney+ (which they have).

25th December, 2021…

Christmas evening, they sit down and try to all watch it again. Mirabel doesn’t do any better, ultimately hiding in the garage until it’s over. Luisa enjoys her ‘I told you it wouldn’t suck’ moment.

Since then the other three have rewatched it and definitely download the soundtrack. Isabela and Luisa have a competition to spot merch before the other/who has the better merch when they are out shopping. If the songs play on the radio, they will sing along. They mock each other a lot too with lines. Dolores makes a list of music critiques (and will definitely show them to Lin & Germaine in the future).

Overall, the older girls like the film. It wasn’t accurate by any means, but it was a funnier and happy version of what actually happened. The animation is beautiful, the songs/soundtrack is really strong, the actors did great. Their only nitpick is the script, but they do eventually accept it was a family film and they had only so much time.

Mirabel doesn’t take it well at all. And basically keeps herself housebound for January to March 2022 because she doesn’t want to hear or see anything about the film. The others respect she’s uncomfortable and try to keep her apart from it when they are out and about.

Were turkey and cranberry sauce on the table at the first Thanksgiving? There's plenty of supposition, but food historian Pamela Cooley says there's no official record that the pilgrims and Native Americans ate turkey and cranberries at that 1621 feast. No official record in the day's diaries, or newspapers, or Martha Stewart Livings.

It wasn't until 1796, when the first American cookbook was published that turkey and cranberries were linked in print. The book was called — (ready for it?!) — American cookery, or, The art of dressing viands, fish, poultry, and vegetables: and the best modes of making pastes, puffs, pies, tarts, puddings, custards, and preserves: and all kinds of cakes, from the imperial plumb to plain cake, adapted to this country, and all grades of life.

(You can page through the whole thing here.) The 18th century author Amelia Simmons said to serve turkey with cranberry sauce, but didn't give a recipe for it.

NPR remedies that oversight every year, by graciously permitting me to share Mama Stamberg's with our audience. For one thing, it's not a sauce at all — this Thanksgiving recipe I've offered NPR audiences for decades. It's a relish. Mama Stamberg's Cranberry relish.

And so, for 2022, here goes.

Mama Stamberg's Cranberry Relish

2 cups whole raw cranberries, washed 1 small onion 3/4 cup sour cream 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons horseradish from a jar ("red is a bit milder than white") Grind the raw berries and onion together. Add everything else and mix. Put in a plastic container and freeze.

The Recipe's Origins

As Susan Stamberg learned long after its radio debut, her mother-in-law got the recipe from a 1959 New York Times clipping of Craig Claiborne's recipe for cranberry relish. In 1993, when she called to apologize for not crediting him, Claiborne said: "Susan, I am simply delighted. We have gotten more mileage, you and I, out of that recipe than almost anything I've printed."

Early Thanksgiving morning, move it from freezer to refrigerator compartment to thaw. (It should still have some little icy slivers left.)

The relish will be thick, creamy, and shocking pink. (OK, Pepto Bismol pink, according to some mis-guided listeners.) It has a tangy taste that cuts through and perks up the turkey and gravy. Its also good on next-day turkey sandwiches, and with roast beef.

Makes 1 and 1/2 pints.

That's it. Simple as mincemeat pie and much tastier.

Back to some history.

Cranberry sauce, presumably without the horseradish, was very popular by 1817. Food historian Pamela Cooley says the magazine Niles Weekly Register reported the amounts of ingredients eaten at Thanksgiving in Connecticut that year: 5,500 turkeys and 1,000 gallons of cranberry sauce. You really have to like those tart little berries to run up numbers like that.

Susan Stamberg's Other Favorite Holiday Cranberry Dish

I like them a great deal. But the cranberry dish I love is from the great Indian actress and cook Madhur Jaffrey.

Madhur Jaffrey's Cranberry Chutney

1-inch piece fresh ginger 3 cloves finely chopped garlic 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 4 tablespoons sugar 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper 1-pound can cranberry sauce with berries 1/2 teaspoon salt (or less) ground black pepper

Cut ginger into paper-thin slices, stack them together and cut into really thin slivers. Combine ginger, garlic, vinegar, sugar and cayenne in a small pot, and simmer on medium flame about 15 minutes or until there are about four tablespoons of liquid left. Add can of cranberry sauce, salt and pepper. Mix and bring to a simmer. Simmer on a gentle heat for about 10 minutes. Cool, store and refrigerate.

Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Whatever you choose, whatever you serve, have a very fine Thanksgiving.

Mick Schumacher explains how new Mercedes reserve driver role left him feeling shocked

Mick Schumacher has opened up about his time at Mercedes so far as he gets stuck into his reserve driver role and simulator duties for the eight-time constructors’ champions, admitting that one particular moment left him feeling “quite shocked”. Schumacher competed in Formula 1 with Haas in 2021 and 2022 but lost his race seat to Nico Hulkenberg for the 2023 campaign and subsequently moved over to Mercedes, taking on a back-up role behind full-time drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Also, there’s still a lot of people I haven’t met but it’s been fun getting to know as many colleagues as I can. im so lost about what to do with B. so far my tactic has been not messaging him first and, if he messages me, i reply. but im not gonna initiate any kind of interaction myself. it's just weird how we've been texting back and forth every day for a month and he insisted on seeing me and then poof radio silence. im confused but i do admit that i have been feeling a lot better ever since he stopped messaging me.

i saw my bestie before she left to the airport and we talked about boys and gossiped and omg her ex left to live on a farm like that's so funny to me. and i brought up B and she said i should message him on the 1st of january like "new year, new me. let's leave our relationship in 2022 and start 2023 without old baggage". and idk, it did sound tempting at first bc i am a dramatic bitch and plus i think now id be able to write a better and more heartfelt letter than last time. but... what's the point? that's just gonna lead him on even more. id much rather just keep my distance and not interact with him unless there's a real necessity. sure, there's a lot to say about this whole situation and maybe it would be good for me to write this letter just for myself and my own self reflection, but is that really useful? it's just gonna make things worse and hurt B even more.

anyway, as ive said before, i haven't really had the time to unpack everything that's happened. i feel like i need to analyse our relationship/breakup to be able to move forward. bc it's been at the back of my mind for such a long time and i need my conscience to be fully clear to be able to move on. so yesterday before bed i thought about B and reread my old diary entries on here.

and it's just so... sad how bad our relationship was. i was unhappy for five long years and for what. there was not one moment with him when i felt content and satisfied. five long years of unhappiness and frustration. and even the few fun moments that we had together were always under the shadow of this inescapable doom. it's so tragic. it's so tragic how something you believed was a pillar of your existence and your reason to live and such an integral part of you life was just... a bad relationship. not like in an abusive sense or like he was a bad person. no. it was just a mediocre relationship between two incompatible individuals. and all those dreams and hopes and tears and frustrations were just... a bad relationship.

so many years it felt like it was my destiny. i believed that B was the only one for me, that the planets had aligned when we first met. that this was it, he was going to be there forever bc he was meant to be with me. that everything in our lives had synchronised in such a perfect way and the possibility of us not being together was non existent. i believed that if we hadn't met that one night at a club in january of 2017, it would've happened either way. we would've met another time, at another club or at a park or in another country or a different year. but we would've found each other regardless bc we were meant to be together. and this belief kept me going. it kept me hoping that i just have to wait a little bit and it will all be perfect one day bc it was supposed to. but in the end, it was just a bad relationship. nothing more, nothing less. there was no magic or destiny or synchronicity. we were just in love and then it didn't work out. and that's it.

and then i thought about B's proposition of getting back together and actively working on trying to make it work, now that we both realised that our relationship was a bad one. and i actually believe that he's capable of change, despite what everyone says. (whether i want to get back together with him is a different question. and for now the answer is a definite no. but im just saying that in theory i know that he can put a lot of effort into things and change.) and i thought about some happy moments that we had together. not like extraordinary moments, but just little things that i enjoyed and wish we could've done more.

i remembered that one time when we were chilling in bed together and he went on instagram that he never used back in the day. and we looked at funny pictures of alpacas together and it made me laugh a lot. this moment lasted for maybe like 10 minutes. but if i ask myself the question "what does a perfect relationship look like" i think it's full of moments like this. just goofing around, laughing together, chilling and not thinking about anything else. and we barely had any moments like this with B, that's why that memory of us looking at alpacas on instagram stands out to me so much. i thought about how, if we do get back together, we'd make sure to have many moments like this. just cuddling in bed together and laughing. and then we'd kiss through the laughter and id feel his smile on my lips and we'd have sex and feel warm and in love. i thought about this scenario and started to touch myself. but then i remembered that ive had this fantasy scenario for years but... it never happened. this basic bare minimum scenario of cuddling with your boyfriend and smiling and having sex while being a happy and carefree couple never happened. it never happened.

it made me cry so much bc how many of what i believed were happy relationship moments were ever real? was our "insane sexual chemistry" that he'd always bring up ever real? throughout the five years of our relationship i had never ever initiated sex bc i felt so awkward about it. and so many times i just wanted it to end. i reread the stuff i posted on here throughout the years and it's just "im insecure in the bedroom", "my bf wants sex but i don't" over and over and over again.

so what does that mean? we had that one sweet moment while looking at alpacas on instagram, we went one that one cute walk in summer of 2021 that i really loved, we had a great trip to sarajevo in 2019, that at the moment was overshadowed by him trying to start a business... and that's it. that's literally it. that's the complete list of all fulfilling moments of our 5 year relationship. and yet i believed that it was written in the stars and that he was oh so perfect for me. like what was this all for? it's so astronomically absurd! all this frustration and suffering and all this never-ending hope, like what the hell was that? like it's astonishing how unhappy i was and yet it lasted for so long.

anyway, this whole thing is bothering me so much. nothing is clear, im very confused. and i just want it to be over.

IDK if this is an unpopular opinion, but I really like that they casted Barcode as Porchay, he really looks like he could be related to Apo, and he has the right energy for the character.

And I like how it shaped the history, like I don't care that they didn't kissed on the lips, it made sense that they don't in the series, and I like that their relationship is chaste, from a physical point of the view.

The emotional aspect really payed of for me and there was no unnecessary forced kiss or things like that.

I don't think the history lacks anything for it, on the contrary, I think it enriched the series.

That reminds me my mom let me get the sims 4!!! So i played it today and i made a sim with the like "answer these questions and well make a sim" thing (her name is stacy) and then she went to the library and made some food for herself and then she went home and slept and then i stopped playing

HFJOne 8 theory

spoilers for one 6, 8, 13 and 17 under the cut

TL;DR: Airy explodes in one 8 and spends the next 7 months trying to get back to the plane.

So we all know in one 8 airy shattered his fucking face right? I have a theory on what exactly happened

It appears airy is an oil lamp as seen earlier in one 17 (he's fumbling around in the dark and turns on and there's a flame in him) and if you don't care for or use your oil lamp properly the glass will crack and shatter and it will explode.

Considering how stone opened liams zipper and out the notes in, how liam unzips open later in the episode, byrce cant go underwater because he is a bottle, and airy can turn on: peoples objects probably function just like objects would normally, at least from where airy and liam are from (liam asks airy if hes from earth and he says yes if i remember correctly)

My theory is that since airy is living in the middle of god damn nowhere he wasn't able to care for himself properly or maybe he was trying to turn off but he fucked up and exploded halfway through eliminating liam, causing his bulb to shatter and him to die. He would then go to the waiting room, and see Julien (toothpaste) waiting there. He'd then probably use the radio to try to get back to the world with the plane. However: he doesn't know the number so he's stuck trying to guess it for 7 months until he finally makes it back.

Now you may be thinking: if Airy was in the waiting room then wouldn't he see Julien and revive him when he gets back? The answer is yes, but no.

When Liam first dies in one 6, he goes to the waiting room and skts down next to Julien. Later on when he, Byrce, and Texty get struck by lightning in one 13, they aren't on the plane anymore and they go to a waiting room without julien and a bunch of other people, probably dead.

This leads me to believe that each universe has it's own waiting room, where people who die in that universe go to. So if you die on the plane you go to the plane's waiting room, if you die on earth you go to earth's, etc.

If Airy is transporting himself to different universes for 7 months, and then dying in those universes to get back, then he'd be in a different waiting room each time. Doing 7 months of the same thing repeatedly would probably make him forgey Julien was even still waiting in the first place

So that's my massive theory hesdcanon thing
